Ch. 3 on the way in a couple hours.

I’m never sure how much sex to include in these stories as they are based off life and I”m interested in portraying how much the characters mean to each other. Also, as I’m mashing together a few events and not following a strict chronological order (least I write only about school and work for ten plus chapters). I will be going back to Chapter 1 to made some changes for clarity and will probably edit the entire series as I go along.

I am trying to figure out the pacing as well, as it seems like the characters are falling pretty hard for each other in no time at all. Which, is how events unfolded in real life, but it’s hard to make it come off as believable when I am making a week’s worth of conversation and activities happen in a couple days.

Chapter 2

Breakfast at IHOP

Tony hadn’t gotten a good look at Christian’s fishing rod the previous night, but he did the next day. It was when the two were getting back into his truck in the morning after spending the night together.

A White Bird spinning rod. The reel was a Shimano NASCI. Nice. Tony didn’t expect to find a boyfriend that shared his love of fishing, or a boyfriend at all, but he was glad Christian liked to fish. They’d at least share one hobby.

Fishing didn’t come up in their conversation much the previous night. Neither man slept after Tony drove them both to his home. Fortunately, Tony’s father was not home so the young lion didn’t have to explain who Christian was just yet. The pair went to his room and Tony let Christian show him something in sex the lion had been missing, rimming.

Initially Tony was reluctant to let Christian play with his rump. But in keeping with the flow of things the young lion eased up and let the human take charge for a little bit. Tony laid belly down, chin on crossed arms, and relaxed. Tony had only his blue tanga underwear on, which Christian asked him to keep on, and his tail anxiously flicked at the tip.

Christian pulled down Tony’s underwear just halfway down the lion’s thighs. The human told Tony what he was planning to do, but Tony still yowled in surprise when he felt the warm tongue slide under the base of his tail. He then moaned when Christian’s mouth and tongue went lower and started work on his hole. Not surprisingly, Tony’s cock was hard and dripping onto the bed spread throughout the entire treatment.

The lion shivered and his balls drew up closer to his body when Christian’s tongue slid over them, across his taint, his hole, and up and around his tail to stop at the small of his back.

Tony came when Christian had the lion flip over onto his back and the human sucked him off. The blowjob was as sensual as before and Tony didn’t last long, as he was so stimulated by being rimmed for the first time.

The two showered after that. Each took their turn in the shower. The lion showered first so he could start on drying his mane. After Christian was finished with his shower he sat down with Tony to help dry and comb the lion’s fur.

“How early do you have to wake up to get ready, with all this hair?” Christian asked.

“Most furs just shower a couple times a week. As long as we don’t get dirty or something,” Tony answered. Tony rumbled when the Christian leaned against his back to hug the big cat from behind. The human’s hands wandered on his chest and belly.

“I just showered, ya know?” Tony said whilst rumbling in pleasure.

“I won’t make a mess,” Christian said back, “spread your legs a bit,” Tony did and Christian held the lion’s cock in his hands. Christian squeezed, lightly, and stroked Tony’s cock until it was hard again. Tony moaned, mouth closed, and shut his eyes. Even after cumming a few times that night, it still felt good to have his cock played with.

Tony didn’t cum though. He was a bit too wiped out for that.

The two got dressed. It was very early- 3:30 A.M., but they didn’t feel like sleeping. Tony had plans for that day anyway and Christian was willing to tag along. They’d get a really early start and after breakfast. They both agreed on going out to eat.

Christian was on his phone, using Tony’s charger, to check email and take care of work related things. Tony was wearing black briefs, which Christian thought looked really great on the lion.

“So, what’s it you do for a living?” Tony asked.

“I’m a RN, registered nurse,” Christian replied listlessly, smiling.

“Oh, cool. I met a couple dude nurses back in California…”

“That’s where I’m from too,” Christian interrupted, briefly.

Tony and Christian started talking about their families. The lion explained he had a older brother who did not live with him, his father who wasn’t home yet, and summed up his parents’ relationship.

Tony’s parents had split up when his brother and he were young and his mother had remarried. She remained somewhere in California. The lion and his brother had been born in South Carolina, but their father was born in North Carolina.

Christian’s family was similarly broken up, but his parents never got married. Even so, his parents kept an amiable relationship. Christian and his brother grew up with their mother in California. Most of their time there was spent in Los Angeles. That was the city the two humans were born in. Christian’s father did not live with them, but visited often. In recent years Christian and his father had gotten extraordinarily close.

Christian’s father’s name was James.

James had dealt with skin cancers all his life. They were mostly squamous and basal cell carcinomas. There were a couple melanomas, but they were caught early-on and taken care of. It was when a stubborn one seemed to suddenly have appeared that signalled the beginning of the end.

The margins of the specimens removed were never clear of abnormal cells. After two more removals, focused radiation started, plus a slew of imagining tests were done to check out the rest of the body. Christian’s father had masses throughout his thorax. The close proximity of the tumors to his lungs were a huge red flag.

Mostly due to Christian’s insistence, his father started chemotherapy. The side effects were awful, of course, but for Christian’s sake, James stuck with it. After the first year, nothing had improved. Christian couldn’t bring himself to beg his dad to keep on going with the chemotherapy and James did not want to continue suffering through it.

James did not enter hospice care. Christian was a RN and so did his utmost best to take care of his father at home. Although hospice care wasn’t his specialty, Christian did a lot of reading and switched from working full time to part time so he could take care of his father. Fortunately, their family doctor wasn’t stingy with pain medications, especially for a patient with cancer. There was a lot of pain shortly before James died.

Christian’s father died from an overdose. Not that he’d ever say it out loud, or yet tell Tony, but Christian was fairly certain it wasn’t an accidental overdose. Christian wasn’t surprised. He knew his father didn’t want to die miserably.

Christian made sure his father’s body was cremated, just like James wanted, and after handling some inheritance paperwork and informing family, Christian flew out to South Carolina. Much of Christian and his father’s extended family was situated there and in North Carolina.

Christian’s father didn’t inform his side of the family about his condition. He asked Christian to do it, a task which Christian didn’t really mind. James only kept in touch with a couple of his own family members, members whom Christian had met and liked. James’s nephew and niece. The rest of James’s family was intolerable and Christian could see why his father had moved to California.

The unpleasant part of James’s family was pissed that James had a cremation and didn’t inform them of his decisions or condition. They held a wake and had a funeral with an empty casket, an act which greatly disgusted Christian as his father, James, had always thought “boneyards” were a colossal waste. Christian was sure the family was only holding a funeral to make themselves feel better.

Christian’s suspicious were confirmed when, attending the faux-funeral, Christian saw many people were invited from the various family member’s churches and they all prayed for James’s damned soul, as he had obviously been doomed to hell for living in California, having kids out of wedlock, etc.

Christian was an atheist. Christian didn’t know if his father believed in god or not, but he damn as well knew James wasn’t a christian. The young man left the cemetery before the praying was over. Angry.

“So...that’s what all happened before we met?” Tony asked and Christian nodded.

“Yea, and I was supposed to go back to California today, but it’s not going to hurt really to change that. I just, I have to go back soon and get some stuff, finish up things with work, if...you know you still…” Christian was referring to what the lion had brought up in the truck after they swapped oral sex and brought up again not too long after they got into Tony’s room.

“Yes,” Tony said, “I want you to live with me, here in South Carolina. We’re not far from a couple cities so you could work in their hospitals, or in some closer ones, but…do you still want to live with me?” Tony asked. He was feeling a little guilty for asking someone from a large city to move into the country, across the U.S. and to leave their current job.

Fortunately, for the lion’s and Christian’s sake, a RN was very employable.

“Yes,” Christian answered, “My home has always been with my family like my dad, and he’s gone now. I care about the people I am with, not where, really…” He paused to think about the general attitude of the people he had met so far, most unbearable, but he knew that in general, the population anywhere had good and bad.

“And I’ll work in Greenwood’s hospital for now. I looked it up, they’re hiring,” Greenwood was a city nearby. They were hurting for nurses pretty hard apparently, as they’d interview the same day a RN applied.

“I still have a place on lease in California, but that’s just a couple more months, so…” Christian said.

“Cool,” Tony said, smiling, relieved.

The pair continued to talk, telling each other about themselves. It seemed like they’d get along and their personalities were similar. They both kept to themselves in their private life and while they were friendly and neighborly, they never sought out the company of their neighbors.

As both their families had moved around early in their lives, neither man became close to their extended family. They didn’t really want to spend time with their respective extended families either, in Christian’s case for obvious reasons.

“So, are you ready to go out?” Tony asked, about breakfast.

“Yea,” Christian said picking up his somewhat soiled, sticky shirt.

“Borrow one of mine,” Tony said and put a box labelled shirts on his bed and looked around for the rest of his unpacked clothes.

With no underwear, jeans, and a borrowed Salt Life ™ shirt Christian got into the passenger side of the truck. He buckled his seatbelt and Tony handed over his iPhone so Christian could punch in IHOP for navigation.

“You wanna tag along for some shopping later?” Tony asked.

“Sure, but I might have to be on my phone a lot today if you don’t mind,” Christian answered, “I’m writing a bunch of emails since it’s not going to be morning in California for like, a couple more hours.”

Christian searched for the nearest IHOP while Tony backed out of his driveway. After that Christian was writing another email addressed to his charge nurse. He couldn’t figure out how to start an email to get across that, yes, he liked his job and everyone he worked with, but was quitting because, hot lion.

“I have to go back to California soon, unless I can get my brother to send me a bunch of my stuff. I probably should go back to work though and talk to my charge nurse. I still got time off, so leaving now probably won’t bother anyone.” Christian wondered how he was going to professionally leave his current job on short notice.

Christian thought about his new boyfriend; an athletic, beautiful, tawny gold lion that looked great in tight black underwear. Also, a lion who looked at him with a sincere look of adoration. While Christian felt anxious about his recent flurry of choices, he did not feel uncertain.

After a couple minutes in silence Christian put his phone away to try writing the email later.

The couple arrived at IHOP, which was a surprising twenty minute drive away. Tony liked that he lived a little ways out of town even if that meant certain things took longer to drive to.

The two didn’t talk too much during the drive even after Christian put his phone away. However, Christian did put his hand on the Tony’s thigh and the lion rumbled in pleasure in response.

It was six thirty in the morning and that specific IHOP was open twenty four hours. They were the only two customers in the IHOP, but soon it would be sunrise and the early risers would start piling in.

They started with coffee and looked over menus. They had drowsiness in their eyes.

Christian started the breakfast conversation,

“So, are you gay?” The human asked, softly, so as to make sure no one could overhear easily.

“No,” Tony said without hesitation, “But I like you. A lot, obviously.”

Christian looked at Tony incredulously.

“Really, I mean, I never really was bothered with the idea of two dudes getting together. But I never thought about it a lot either. Just….last night…” Tony went trailed off into silence. Christian sat up straighter and said, simply,

“I like you, a lot. I am gay aaaand always knew that about myself.”

“You really don’t come off as very gay,” The lion said.

“I am though,” Christian smiled, “I really love sucking you off,” he continued with a soft laugh.

Tony felt excitement and embarrassment mixed into one.

“Cool,” was all the lion said in reply. Their waitress returned and they two ordered pancakes, bacon, eggs, more coffee.

It was halfway through their breakfast that Christian started up the conversation again,

“I’m fine with being discreet, you know, cause’ my dad told me what it was like around here when he was growing up...even in California I got shit for being gay, if I let people know.”

Tony was grateful Christian was the one to bring up being discreet.

“Okay. I’m…” Saying that he wasn’t gay seemed a little redundant, so Tony continued, “I’m not fond of advertising my personal life either.”

The two were finishing off their breakfast and taking their time sipping their coffee. Both still felt the weight of a night without sleep.

“I know we’re gonna go shopping, so, can we pick up some lube?” Christian asked, smiling.

“Hehah, is sex the only thing you think about?” Tony asked, not that he wasn’t thinking about more sex either, “Sure, we’ll get lots of lube…”

“Okay,” Christian said, smiling behind his mug of coffee, “so, where are we going?”

“Wal-Mart, for the lube and stuff. I went there yesterday for some fishing stuff.”

“Oh, okay. I wanna see what they have, I wanna buy a new fishing rod.”

“Oh really? Your current rod’s pretty good though.”

“It was my dad’s,” Christian said, “I like it a lot, but I want to get another one. I used to have a bunch, but I kinda stopped fishing when I started nursing school. I have a lot of my stuff away to a high school”

Tony thought for a moment. “Then, we’ll stop by Wal-Mart for some lube and fishing stuff.”

Christian didn’t know it yet, but Tony was planning on picking up their tab that day. The lion also had another surprise in store for Christian.

Tony would tell Christian later, but the lion’s father was well-off. Not that Tony had everything given to him on a platter, but Tony’s father gave the young lion a hefty monthly allowance. An allowance which continued even after Tony turned eighteen.

“Ready to get going?” Tony asked. He paid for their food, for which Christian was grateful. The lion told the young man not to be overly thankful since they were now a couple.

“Even so, thank you,” Christian said. Tony smiled at him.

In the truck Christian was yawning, feeling sleepy.

“Are ya tired still?”

“Yeah,” Christian, “Coffee doesn’t keep me awake very much anymore. I've been drinking too much of it at work.”

“You should take a nap. I have a few stops planned for today. I'll wake you up when we get there.”

It did not take long for Christian to dose off. Tony was tired as well, and still stressed out by his recent break up, but probably nowhere near as exhausted as Christian.

Tony searched for and routed the two to the nearest Cabela’s store. A hour away from the IHOP, a hour and a half from his home. A hour’s length would be a nice nap for Christian.
