My Lie-On Valentine
Chapter Three
By Roofles
Ambrosia was a small, but fancy restaurant that Law had only been to once before. He and Brett had gone on their ninth date. The cougar setting everything up. It was in the peak of their relationship and the cougar wanted to do something special for their anniversary, even if he had gotten the date wrong.
Law had been sure it was just for the seafood. Ambrosia did have some of the best in the city. It was a nice, if small, Italian restaurant that was bit pricier than Law was comfortable with spendy. Ever.
Brett had to have some kind of connection to the owners to receive such special treatment. His dad must’ve been one of their lawyers or something to get them to set aside a table for the four of them. Or at least, the two of them.
Law had shown up early, only to find Brett there ahead of everyone else. The cougar glanced up, a smile playing across his face as he set his phone aside.
“I was afraid you wouldn’t be able to make it.” Brett said as he stood up and gave Law a warm hug.
“It’s Valentine’s day. The least I could do is show up… for my ex.” Law frowned at the end, his voice growing soft as the cougar let him go. The human could only frown further as Brett pulled his chair out for him. “Uh…”
“What? I’m just being friendly.” Brett waved it off before patting the seat. “Come now, don’t keep a guy waiting.”
“It’s not like you to show up early.” Law said, trying to change the subject as he begrudgingly took the seat. Brett scooted him in, and Law could feel the cougar’s thighs and groin against his back as he did so. The cougar practically humping the chair in.
It was a very silly, Brett like move to do. Even in public, the cougar didn’t have any shame.
“I’ve been known to be early. At times.” Brett only laughed it off, moving around the table and taking a seat directly across from Law as if this really was a date between the two of them. “Would you like something to drink?”
“No. I’m good,” Law tried to say but Brett was already waving down one of the waiters passing by.
“Are you ready to order?” The rabbit stopped. The waiter was in a suit without a coat, revealing the black vest and white shirt underneath. His ears were tied back behind his head, and he had used far too much gloss in his hair making it shine like a freshly waxed bowling ball.
“Just the drinks for now,” Brett said before pointing them out.
“But of course.” The rabbit gave a small bow before hurrying off.
“Did you see his hair?” Brett started up, covering a laugh with a hand.
“He looked like he dipped his head into a can of wax. You know the one. From the bowling alley?” Law laughed along, feeling nostalgic about it. Recalling their second date.
It had been a silly outing between the two, the two still trying to see if they were compatible with one another. They didn’t so much as bowl as they did just goof off and have a fun time. Just two friends with benefits at that point. Hanging out, enjoying each other’s company, and relieving some stress after.
It had been an incredible Saturday and Law hadn’t forgotten about it even a year and a half later.
“Oh, yeah. I remember that.” Brett mulled it over, rubbing his chin in thought. “Didn’t you try to steal the can of wax after?”
“Well….” Law laughed softly, blushing a bit as he recalled it. “I did it because…” His voice faded at the warm thought turning cold. He had done it to keep a reminder of their date together.
It was a silly thing, he knew. But he thought it was kind of nice. Keeping a sort of souvenir from each of their dates to remember it by. Law was a romantic at heart while Brett just liked to have a good time. Never focusing or caring about tomorrow, just living in the moment.
Just like they were doing now.
“Well,” Law started up. Maybe, if he explained why he had stolen the small can of wax then Brett could see that he had meant that much to him. The thought, the feeling behind it clung in his chest preventing Law from continuing.
The human was still working up the nerve too when the cougar turned away, talking to someone else who had shown up.
“Hey, Jerome. What are you doing here?” Brett spoke up, distracting the human from his inner turmoil. Law turned in time to see the lion coming their way.
Jerome had dressed up for the occasion and was looking good. Better than Brett even, which was saying something. While the cougar had gone for a casual look, something he was known to do even on a date. Jerome had gone all out, making Law stand up to greet him.
The lion’s platinum blonde mane was slicked back, and he was wearing a silver and black suit that seemed to reflect the light as he walked. It worked well with his dark tan fur and there was a sway to his step that was both mesmerizing and alluring as he padded over on large paws towards the two.
“For you,” Jerome said pulling a small bundle of flowers from behind his back. He handed them directly to Law, ignoring the cougar standing there next to them. “You look incredible, this evening, mon beau man.”
And before Law could stop him, Jerome had scooped up his hand with one of his own and kissed the top of it. His tail sway side to side as those bright eyes looked up and into Law’s own, stealing both his focus away from Brett as well as his breath.
A single moment was all it took for the lion to steal the scene.
“Heh, uh, Jerome. What’s all this?” Brett asked as the nervous cougar tried to play it off. He looked between the two before focusing on Law as if he were the one to blame in this.
As if they were somehow still together.
Law blushed from the attention, unable to help it as the lion rubbed his thumb over Law’s hand, still not letting it go. It was only when the cougar cleared his throat loudly did the lion finally acknowledge Brett standing there, like the third wheel he had become.
“Sorry,” Jerome said, glancing over at Brett. “I was just so captivated by him, that I didn’t see you there.” And without further delay, Jerome looped behind Law’s back and pulled the chair out next to him for Law to take a seat in, so he wasn’t sitting across from Brett anymore. “No need to stand for me,” the lion purred the words out in a low seductive rumble as he lowered his head to Law’s height, practically nuzzle the human with the motion. “Sit on my side of the table.”
Law could feel Jerome’s whiskers brush his cheek, feel the rumble of the lion’s purr vibrate against his back through his chest and felt the playful touch of the tuft of fur at the end of his tail against his hand.
“Jerome. You’re here. You actually… came.” Law said, not even trying to hide the fact of how surprised he was by the lion’s presence. He was sure Jerome would’ve bailed on him.
“Sorry to keep you waiting, love.” Jerome just continued without stop. His voice was deeper than normal and there was an underlining tone to it that even the cougar didn’t miss. “Traffic was terrible on the way here. We’ll take a walk through the park after our dinner to wait it out. If you like.” Jerome just rubbed Law’s shoulders as he kept his head lowered, growling the words into the humans ears sensually.
“I, wait, what?” Law wasn’t even sure what was happening as the lion manhandled him, gently, into his chair. Jerome easily pushed it in, resting a hand on Law’s shoulder as he looked down at the human almost lovingly.
“I had a few things planned after this.” Jerome just said, brushing a finger under Law’s chin to lift it up to look at him. “Just for the two of us.”
“What exactly is going on?” Brett asked as his tail tip flickered quickly as if it had lit on fire and was trying to put itself out.
Jerome just nosed down at Law’s face, brushing his lip against his ear. “Play along.” The lion finally explained, glancing up at the cougar once more. “He’s hating this.” And with a soft lick to his cheek, continued to play his part.
It took a second for the gears in Law’s head to turn but when they did, the lightbulb clicked on.
Jerome would rehearse lines with Brett all the time and seemed to have a knack for acting. While Brett just used his looks to his advantage, it was clear Jerome could actually act. Law was ashamed it took him this long to put the two things together. Usually writing Jerome off.
“Thanks, sweetheart.” Law voice was casual yet filled with warmth as he turned to look at Jerome. “I’m glad you made it okay.” And with that, kissed the lion’s cheek. “Love.”
Both the cougar and the lion’s tails stuck out at that as they stared at the human wide eyed before Jerome fell back into beat, matching Law’s pace as he trailed his hand down Law’s shoulder, over his arm and back to the table. Tracing it over the tablecloth to the other side as he parted from the humans side slowly, as if took great strain to leave him.
Jerome practically shoved Brett out of the way as he took his seat directly across from Law. The two focusing only on each other and letting it drag out to an uncomfortably long period before Law chuckled, covering his mouth with a hand to be polite.
“Oh, Brett. I think you’ve met Jerome already.” The human said, finally seeming to notice the cougar standing there gawking at the two. “This is the boyfriend, my new boyfriend, I told you about.” And Law placed his hand on top of the lion’s who could only stare down at it with the cougar, the two seeming to be the ones taken by surprise now. “Ever since our breakup, Jerome has been there for me. He’s been absolutely wonderful and such a great, sweet friend.”
“Friend?” Brett choked on the word as he looked between the two. Crossing his arms, the cougar just smirked. “Friend? The two of you hated each other. You still do!”
“We only hated each other because we couldn’t be together. But now. We can.” Jerome was the one to speak up and it was Law who seemed to get affected by it more. It was something about the way the lion’s eyes lingered on him. The way his fingers brushed over his own. The way that, when he spoke, there was a softness to his face that Law hadn’t seen before.
All the human could think, in that moment, was just how stunningly beautiful the lion was. He truly was an incredible actor and even Law was beginning to buy it.
“Sure. Is this you getting back at me for ditching you to hang out with Eddie?” Brett smoothed out the fur on his arms. He elbowed the lion, hard, and pretended it had been playful.
“Not everything is about you.” Jerome grumbled bitterly, looking away. His claws sprung out, gripping the tablecloth tightly as his agitation began to show.
That was the Jerome that Law was used to seeing.
“Hey now, love.” Law started up softly, petting over the lion’s hand tenderly. “It’s Valentine’s day. Let’s enjoy ourselves, together.” Law smiled, waiting for the lion to look at him. “You look stunning today, Jerome. I’m so glad you took me out today.”
The lion’s round ears splayed out as his tail tip flicked quickly, the length of it curling around the chair leg.
“I wasn’t sure if it’d be too… much.” Jerome said and it felt honest and true.
“Your mane?” Law didn’t even need to look at it as he focused solely on Jerome’s face. Just smiling at the nervous lion. “It looks wonderful. It really brings out your eyes.”
“He looks like a waxed bowling ball.” Brett bitterly added in, tapping a finger on the table as he looked at his phone. “Dammit Eddie, where are you?”
Jerome looked over at the cougar, about to say something when he felt Law’s fingers entwine with his own. It stole the focus away as the two sat there, together.
“What did you have in mind for dinner?” Law brought up as if this weren’t the first time, they’ve done this. “I know the shrimp carbonara here is good. It has a rich creamy sauce.”
Law recalled going out with Brett and how much the feline enjoyed seafood and cream. The combination must’ve been a delight to any feline that came here to order the dish. And despite the charade the two were pulling, it would be nice for Jerome to have a good time.
“My treat.” Law finished with, not letting go of the lion’s hand. “It’s the least I can do for such last-minute changes to our day together.”
“I-,” Jerome started up, but Brett cut in.
“Day together?” The cougar pounced on. “You were out at that record store this morning!”
“Oh.” Law said, scratching at his cheek in embarrassment as if he’d been caught red handed. “Well. Sorry,” he said as Brett grinned seemingly catching the human’s lie already. “I wanted it to be a surprise.” He just went on making the cougar’s jaw drop as he held onto Jerome’s hand. “I bought you a present this morning. That’s why we couldn’t meet up for breakfast. Sorry, I wanted it to be a surprise.”
“No worries. Brett ruined it.” Jerome played off of what Law had started. “Whatever you got me will be special, no matter the day. Or if it was a surprise or not. Because it was from you.”
“Thanks, babe. I just wanted to get you something nice.”
“To remember our day together?”
“Heh, you caught on?”
“I’ve always noticed that.” Jerome just said and Law felt that warmth in his chest once more from it. He must’ve seen Law do something similar for Brett. Whereas the cougar never noticed, the lion seemed too.
“I just thought…” Law tried to explain but the lion was the one to comfort him on it, petting his hand.
“I think it’s sweet. It’ll be something for us to look back on. In the future.” Jerome said in turn.
“Future?” Brett seemed to have had enough as he jumped to his feet. “It’s clear the two of you are just doing this to get back at me!”
“Whatever for?” Jerome just let go of Law’s hand, taking the glass of water and lapping from it without looking at the other feline.
“It’s not like we’re together, Brett. I’m with Jerome now.” Law just nodded along. “I’ve moved on.”
“Moved on?” Brett gritted his teeth, about to say something more when Eddie showed up.
The white rat was out of breath as he came over to the table, interrupt the cougar from just pouncing on the lion.
“Sorry, sorry.” He was already apologizing to Brett who all but ignored him. “I went to the wrong Ambrosia.” Eddie said looking between the three of them. “Uh… so what’s going on? Hey, Law. Good to see you again.”
“We’re just catching up.” Law just shrugged without looking at the rodent. He had cut him out of his friend’s list after the rat began dating his ex. He would be polite in public. That’s as far as his courtesy would go.
“I just hope you guys haven’t ordered, yet.” The rat scooted past Law’s chair to his own. “Jerome? What are you doing here?”
“He was just leaving.” Brett growled at the lion who just flicked an ear at him as if he were annoying fly.
“Don’t be like that. We’re all friends here.” Law was the one to bring up, the bitterness in his tone making the cougar frown. “Right, Eddie?” The human looked over at the rodent, then back at Brett, meeting his eye. “All friends here. Can’t get mad.”
Brett tail flicked but he left it alone as he picked up his menu, just boring holes into it without reading a single thing on it as he pouted like a child. The cougar wasn’t used to not getting his way and it was the sweetest of treats Law could have this Valentine’s day.
Law had always been a doormat for the cougar, a push over that allowed Brett to get whatever he wanted when he wanted it. Or at least, that’s how their relationship had become.
But here, and now, with Jerome? It allowed Law to see something he hadn’t since the breakup. Law wasn’t dating Brett anymore. He wasn’t obligated to give him anything, anymore. Not even kindness for all the shit he’d gotten in return for it.
And that, in itself, was the best kind of payback.
“All friends here.” Jerome repeated, rubbing it in.
Brett had practically said the exact same thing to Law when he began dating Eddie. They were all friends and that he couldn’t just get mad about it. They weren’t dating and so the rodent was fair game. Like this was some kind of game one could just play with another life.
If that’s how Brett wanted to play it, Law was going to win this silly little break up game as he pet over Jerome’s hand, looking at the menu and ignoring the cougar. Law already knew what he wanted; this was just a way at making Brett fume. Law wasn’t a picky man, and he didn’t mind trying new flavors, he thought as he smiled up at Jerome. The lion perfectly playing along at this point to their little game.
It was incredible how much Jerome had adapted to it all and how well this was going. If Brett and Eddie weren’t here, a part of Law wondered if having dinner, like this, with Jerome wouldn’t be so bad.
“Everything looks fantastic,” Law just said only to Jerome as if they were the only two there.
He jumped slightly as he felt the lion’s foot brush against his leg. Petting down it before resting on top of his shoe, the two not even looking at each other as they did so as if it were the most natural thing in the world to do.
“Everything.” Jerome eyes flickered up to look at the human, watching him as if he were a painter trying to remember every stroke of his brush to come.
Law glanced up and met those warm, twinkling eyes and the two just stared into the others as if lost within them.
It was a strange feeling. Just this morning, Law used to hate Jerome’s guts and now here he was on a, mock, date with the guy. It was hard to think of anyone else there with them outside the two. Even with his ex, and his ex’s new boyfriend, at the same table.
The two of them barely exchanged words as Brett continued to pout as Jerome and Law exchanged pleasantries back and forth, forgetting about the others couple there.
“It’s nice.” Law said as the drinks were served. The lion glanced up once more, lapping at his drink that was far too sweet and colorful for his taste. It seemed appropriate to make this as smoochy as possible.
“Hm?” Jerome’s tail flicked, looking back at him after thanking the waiter that had come. The lion didn’t feel the need to tease the guy about his hair and left him alone, focusing solely on the man he had come with.
“This. Valentine’s day. Just. Doing something, for the holidays…” Law smile faltered, dipping a bit as he thought of all the empty, lonely holidays alone. Dating someone during these holidays should’ve been fun, like this, but they hadn’t been.
Brett had gone out of his way to skip out on the holidays and obligations he felt others put on them and their relationship. Never once asking if that was okay for Law.
“Just doing something. Anything. Together. Going out to walk in the park. Get flowers,” Law couldn’t help but smile at the bundle of flowers Jerome had bought him. He really was the perfect boyfriend for hire. “Go to a restaurant, like this. Just… anything.”
“Isn’t that normal?” Jerome asked, but his tone belayed his own feelings about it. Knowing already what Law was talking about.
“You’d think so…” Law smile faltered once more as he thought of all the years without celebrating his birthday or Christmas outside of family. And when you were dating someone, one of the best parts was supposed to be this.
Going out on proper dates, instead of just hanging out with a friend.
And it left a bitter, sour taste in his mouth as the dinner was served and the four of them ate in an uncomfortable silence.
“This is good.” Eddie tried to start up, saying the first thing after showing up.
Brett grunted a reply as Law just picked at the noodles in front of him without an appetite.
“Chicken fettuccine?” Brett look over at Law who just grunted in reply making Jerome’s tail flick once more in annoyance at the other feline trying to move in on his date.
“How about you ask your date, and I’ll take care of mine, kay’?” Jerome said with a low growl, trying to keep it contained with gritted teeth.
No one had said anything for the past ten minutes and the air was heavy between the four of them, making even polite conversation difficult.
“I’m just asking a friend.” Brett tried to defend his actions.
“Just calling him something different, doesn’t change the fact what you’ve done.” Jerome hackles rose as he glared over at the cougar who became just as defensive.
“The hell is that supposed to mean?”
“It’s supposed to mean-,” the lion’s nails gripped the table, but the sudden movement interrupted them both as Law pushed himself to his feet.
And left.
The abrupt action left the other three speechless before Jerome scrambled to his feet, nearly slipping as he knocked a drink over chasing after him.
“Law, wait!” Jerome called after him, ignoring the looks they were getting from the other patrons. “Dammit Brett.” The lion just scowled at the cougar.
Law had already escaped outside and was heading down the street, hands tucked away, trying not to see any of the happy couples around them.
“Well, that could’ve gone better.” Eddie tried to laugh off before choking on his food as the cougar jumped to his feet. “Brett? Hey, wait, where are you going?” But the feline didn’t even look back as he followed after the two.
Law was just thankful it was getting dark, and the streetlights were beginning to flicker on as he retreated inside the nearby park. Stepping off the path, Law took a moment to wipe his face off.
“Dammit all.” He could only curse at letting his vulnerabilities show like that. Just there like that, everything he had wanted, something that shouldn’t even be hard to ask for! And it was all just a lie to get back at his ex.
How’d he get so petty to sink so low as to do something like this?
“Love makes fools of us all,” Law just groaned, covering his face. “And I’m the biggest, fucking, fool of them all.” He slumped against the tree, taking a moment before daring to check his phone.
“Law!” A voice called out and he looked up, his heart jumping for a second before seeing who it was.
“Why can’t I just catch a break?” Law wiped his eyes once more before stepping out, back onto the path. “What do you want Brett?”
The cougar stopped a couple of paces away before closing what little distance there was between them. Reaching out, Law pulled back from the feline’s comforting hands.
“Law. It’s not. I mean, Jerome? Seriously?” Brett tried to laugh it off which only got him a dirty look from the human in turn. “Right. Right. Serious. Not a joke. But Jerome? I thought the two of you hated each other.”
“We had something in common.” Law just admitted without going any further.
“I see… Look,” Brett sighed heavily, his shoulders slouching in a very unattractive fashion as he tilted his muzzle up just groaning out. “It wasn’t supposed to be like this.” The cougar tried to explain half-assedly.
“And how was it supposed to be like, Brett?” Law crossed his arms defensively, not about to let the feline try and talk his way out of this. No matter how sweet his words sounded.
“Look, we were going to get back together. It was just for a couple of days? Sheesh, I don’t get what the big deal is.” Brett grumbled as if Law was the one being unreasonable about all this.
“A couple of days… and then, what, we just hook back up? Pretend we didn’t break up. Or who we slept with…?” Law just glared at the cougar coldly.
“Well, I mean, yeah. Kind of?” Brett shrugged with a laugh.
“Brett. You can’t just expect me to accept you back whenever you feel like it. Even for a cat, that is freaking unreasonable to ask of me.” Law rubbed his forehead, just shaking his head. “If you want to go catch a rat, go ahead. Just leave me out of it.”
“It was only for a day!” Brett exaggerated. “We had fun in that record shop, didn’t we? Just like old times. As if nothing changed.”
“Brett!” Law finally snapped, just yelling at the cougar who pulled back. “Just a day? Some day? You clearly picked the time for our breakup to coincide with Valentine’s day. It isn’t, it wasn’t just some random ass day you picked! You purposefully picked it to break up? What? So, you wouldn’t have to do anything big and grand because we’ve been together for so long? Every year you find an excuse not to do something for my birthday or our anniversary. You even got last year anniversary date wrong… Valentine’s day is just another day where you don’t want to try. It’s just another day to you. Just like I’m just another person…”
“Law, that’s not what I meant, and you know it! Don’t go putting words in my mouth.” Brett’s fur began to stand up. “Where do you think you’re going?” He asked as Law turned away.
“I’m not doing this, again, with you Brett. It’s over! It’s exactly what you wanted. Ciao.” Law tried to walk away when a hand grabbed his shoulder, painfully tight.
“We’re not done here. Don’t try to walk away from me.” Brett began, advancing on the human before getting knock flat on his ass the next second. “The fuck.” The cougar hissed, rubbing his jaw, and looking up into an out of breath lion’s face.
Jerome wiped a hand through his messed-up mane, still breathing heavily as he looked down at the cougar coldly.
“Don’t. Touch my boyfriend.” Jerome just warned, holding back his claws as he snarled down at Brett.
“Jerome,” Law said.
“He didn’t hurt you, did he?” Jerome asked, turning to look the human over before stopping at the red around Law’s eyes. “Dammit, Law…” The lion gritted his teeth. “Why are you always like this?”
“Like what? What did I do!” Law glared back at the lion.
“This! With him!” Jerome just jabbed a finger at Brett. The cougar wiped his lips off, standing back up. “Every freaking time.”
“Time? What the hell are you going on about, Jerome?”
“He’s an asshole, Law! Why do you always forgive him and get over it?” Jerome started up, not letting Law get a word in. “He just uses you and abuses your relationship to get what he wants. You give and you give to this bastard who, might I add, already has everything! Can’t even take a single day out of the year to take you for a date and yet, you still come crawling back to him.” The lion just huffed and panted by the end, already out of breath.
“Jerome.” Law tried to say.
“You deserve someone better than an asswipe like him!”
“Jerome!” Law had to grab the lion’s arm to get his attention. “We’re not getting back together.”
“I- wait, you aren’t…?” Jerome ears splayed out as his tail fell, looking between the two.
“No. We’re not.” Brett confirmed, rubbing his sore jaw. “Damn, dude. Did you have to hit me?”
“Yes.” Jerome just growled.
“What’s your problem with me?” Brett growled back.
“Because you were hitting on me when you were still with him!” Jerome just brought up dropping the news like a heavy wet blanket over the other two.
“What?” Law struggled to say, looking between the two.
“It’s not like that.” Brett groaned, shaking his head. “I can explain.
“Not like what? Always bringing up the fact if you weren’t with Law, you wouldn’t mind hooking up? Doing some fun stuff behind the dorms? In the showers? Or what about that time in the library when you tried to-,” Jerome just gritted his teeth, glaring at the cougar.
“Wait, wait! Those were jokes. Clearly. Just simple, fun, jokes. Between friends.” Brett’s ears folded back as he quickly looked between the two.
“Brett.” Jerome was the one to start up. “I have no interest in you that way. Capiche? Nadda. Zip. Zero. I do not see you that way, at all, in any shape or form! I don’t know how else I can spell it out for you.”
“Then why are you always hanging around us?” Brett just demanded to know.
“I was trying to get into Law’s pants, not yours!” Jerome just snapped back. And then regretted it.
“E-excuse me?” Law choked on the words.
A heavy silence fell between the three who couldn’t make eye contact.
“How is that any different than what I tried…?” Brett tried to reason out, still in the end defending his actions.
“Because I never did anything.” Jerome just sighed heavily, shaking his head. “You two were together. A fucked-up couple. But still a couple. I wasn’t about to cheat or break you guys up…” Jerome bit his lip before looking away. “At first.”
“At first?” Law was the one struggling to keep up now.
“You two were terrible together. Just, awful. Fuck buddies at best. But it was clear who was driving the relationship. Steering you straight off a cliff before bailing out at the last second.” Jerome sighed, glaring at Brett before looking at Law. “And I didn’t do shit until it was too late.”
“And here I thought you always hated me.” Law almost laughed. It was hard to feel anything with the rollercoaster of emotions this was putting him through.
“I did. At first.” Jerome offered half-heartedly. “You were annoying. And needy. And were always hanging out with Brett. So clingy.” The lion shuddered before shaking his head. “And cute…”
Law found himself blushing while Brett just snorted a laugh.
“Cute? Law?” Brett looked over at the human before pulling back at the look he got in return.
“You tried so hard to make this dumpster fire of a relationship work. It was funny at first. Then kind of sweet? Then just sad.” Jerome grumbled.
“Wow, thanks. There goes the rest of my self-esteem.” Law could only roll his eyes at that before trying to turn away. It was the lion, this time, that stopped him.
“No, wait! I’m not finished. Fuck. You always just do that.” Jerome let go of his shoulder slowly, turning him around to face the lion. “You are so annoying.” Jerome started and Brett had to laugh at that watching the show. “Your also kind of full of yourself, but not as bad as Brett.”
“Hey!” The cougar just said as the lion took a jab at him.
“And you get this eye boogie thing going on way early in the morning.” Jerome just mentioned making Law check to see if he was good.
“Wow, damn, harsh. Is there anything you actually like?” Law just got back. “Because you aren’t perfect either, lion boy!”
“Lion boy?” Jerome asked, taken aback.
“You think your all that?” Law laughed, getting up in the lion’s face now. “Wearing all these fancy named brand clothing with the pants already ripped and acting like some punk who can’t even afford a coffee? Only to then go to the most generic, chain coffee shop to buy the most expensive drink they have! Then, to complain about it the entire time! And that hair!” Law finally had to call out. “That is not a natural color!”
“It so is!” Jerome touched his platinum blonde mane with a hand. “It’s a family thing.”
“I’ve seen your brothers.” Law gave him a look.
“…yeah, well, it looks good, right?” Jerome ended up just asking and Law had to agree.
“It does.” And the two laughed at that. Brett, uncomfortably, tried to join in.
“So… we’re all good then?” Brett asked the two.
“Uh, no?” Law just answered.
“Fuck no.” Jerome agreed.
“Oh…” Brett could only say. “Well. I’m glad you two aren’t actually together?”
“Well…” Jerome started up with as Law gave the lion the once over, going so far as going around him fully once. “What?”
“…okay.” Law just nodded, seeming to make up his mind on something.
“Okay about what?”
“Let’s go.” Law just motioned, grabbing the lion’s hand, and pulling him along.
“Where are we going?” Jerome asked as he followed without putting up a fight.
“Wait, where are you two going?” Brett called after the two.
“To have angry get back at you sex!” Law just shouted back, not caring who heard as he didn’t even give Brett the courtesy of looking back at him.
“What!” The cougar could only say. “You can’t just leave me behind.”
“Don’t forget Eddie.” Jerome said with a smug ass grin on his face, leaving Brett behind for once.
“…Oh, fuck, Eddie!” The cougar jumped as he pulled out his phone quickly, trying to call the rat up. “Look, it’s not like that babe…” He started up as the two rounded the corner heading for the dorms.
