It begins. The peace in Mossly is over and history is starting to rear its ugly head. Of course, our pair still has a few moments before the harvest season is suddenly interrupted and they spend it doing those sort of things that an overeager dragon and a lonely miller get up to after a bit too much alcohol. However, the fact stands; the idyllic times are over and this pair's stories are beginning.

Sorry about the long wait on this one. Life picked up right when I got sick, and I am just now starting to recover my drive... right as work is picking up. Either way, though, things are finally starting. I've already charted out most of the next book...or so, and there's going to be a bit of a renaming and reorganization in the future, once Mossly is concluded. As it turns out, the Mossly saga is really a prologue; and we're finally getting to all the good stuff now that the characters all know each other. However, action is picking up, fast.

The townsfolk were all gathered in the streets in front of the schoolhouse. They were nervous, most visibly sweating, and several had their swords bulked onto their belts; Ailmer noticed that many had their frogs at incorrect angles. He knew they wouldn't be needed, but he certainly didn't blame them. He'd had to use almost ever ounce of pull that he had in the town to even get to this point, and even then, he was more worried than everyone else. He tried to force his anxiety down, but his fear still burned hot in his stomach and his eyes flicked nervously between every one of the displayed, but sheathed, old family weapons that had been broken out for the event.

Beroan felt it too. All eyes were on him, which usually wasn't an issue for any proud dragon, but he also seemed to notice the prevalence of weaponry. That, or he was just on edge from Ailmer's long briefing and warnings about what could actually happen should things go badly. Beroan seemed a little less anxious than the other human; his eyes were glancing quickly around all the interested faces looking at the strange creature rather than Ailmer's that took no interest in anything but assessing danger. It was good, Ailmer supposed, that the dragon wasn't as jaded as he was.

He took a breath as he realized it would be incredibly difficult for anyone to be as jaded as he was.

Beroan endured the stares of the townsfolk rather well. He did enjoy the attention, Ailmer supposed, but the way that his eyes flicked from the faces of the gathered people to the buildings above showed the dragon's ever-present curiosity. He wished he could be like that again, instead of how he was; groping for a sword he'd purposefully left behind at the mill, expecting to have to defend himself against the friends he'd known for years.

Finally, the crowd parted slightly. Beroan's attention was suddenly brought back down as a child stepped forward, guided by Reece himself. The blacksmith's hand was wrapped tightly in a bandage, though he held onto his son's shoulders with both hands. The child didn't share the same trepidation as his father. Though he was tightly corralled by Reece's strong grip, it was obvious that he was amazed by the strange creature in front of him.

Ailmer winced as they stepped up, not due to either their motion or Beroan's, but as he noticed several hands drift down to their swords in the crowd. Beroan, however, didn't seem to notice the motion from the crowd around him as the pair in front of the dragon nervously worked their way into the no-man's-land that the crowd had cleared around the dragon. Reece obviously had to force himself to relax his grip on his son's shoulders as they stepped forward. He was nearly ready to toss his son back at the first sign of danger, though the ten-year-old certainly didn't show the same sort of fear. Beroan didn't either, though whether that was from his usual attitude or that he didn't realize the gravity of the situation that he was in, Ailmer couldn't tell.

Either way, Reece and his boy, Ailmer finally recalling his name as Lucas, stopped just in front of the dragon. The whole town held their breath. Time seemed to slow for a moment as not a soul dared to breathe or move a muscle.

Beroan glanced down, then back up at Lucas. Slowly, he raised both forepaws, presenting the boy's colorful horse, cupped reverently in his forepaws. "I am sorry. I didn't mean to take this, I hope that you can forgive me." He said, managing the line much more sincerely than when they'd practiced at the mill.

Lucas stared at the dragon with twinkling eyes, the sort that glint at the kind of childlike vigor that makes any moment in life so much more exciting than anything an adult could ever dream up. He reached forward, still under his father's white-knuckled grip, to carefully pluck his toy from the drake's outstretched forepaws.

Lucas pulled the toy close to his chest, glancing from the drake to turn his head up to look up at Reece. "Daddy, can I pet it?" He asked.

Reece blinked, taking a moment to respond as he was suddenly put on the spot. His glance shifted from the drake to the crowd, finally back to Ailmer. "I…I don't know. Why don't you ask him?"

Lucas nodded excitedly, missing his father's visual cue, before turning his view right to the dragon. "Can I pet you, dragon?"

Reece glanced back down to the drake, surprised. Beroan glanced back and forth, from the crowd back to Ailmer, as they had certainly not rehearsed this particular situation. "Well… I don't see why not." He answered.

Lucas nodded quickly, reaching out slowly with his right hand. His other still clutched the colorful horse to his chest, as his laid his small hand gently on Beroan's nose. "Oh… He's warm, papa. Not like a dog's nose!"

Reece's eyes flicked nervously from Ailmer to Beroan, then back to Lucas as the child warmly pressed his palm against the larger dragon's snout. Beroan squirmed slightly, suddenly aware of the eyes on him. He lowered his head slightly, to nuzzle down into that small hand. Perhaps he saw something of himself in Lucas; the boy's eyes burned with the same curiosity that drove Beroan. His amazement persisted as he carefully rubbed over the drake's tougher scales, giggling to himself. "Wow, papa. He feels like what I thought Nizuranth might feel like!"

Ailmer and Reece shared a sudden, reflexive chuckle that was, thankfully, missed by the amazed child. However, the anxiety surrounding the crowd lifted, as Beroan nuzzled right into those attentions, letting Lucas excitedly pet over his head and neck as he flopped down right there on the road.

It was almost like someone had flicked a switch. Hands left the hilts of their swords as the onlookers began to chatter to themselves. The tension began to dissipate through the crowd. It was subtle at first, hands moving slightly away from weapons or loosening from their comforting grips on clothing or relaxing their fists, but soon it picked up from the soft murmur starting as people started to break the silence. It quickly picked up, however, Lucas's excited curiosity starting to rub off as he excitedly poked and prodded the draconic creature.

Whispers picked up into an excited rumble as the crowd finally started to break past the threshold of the no-man's-land that they had formed. Beroan squirmed just a bit; thankfully, he was already starting to enjoy the attention. Ailmer, however, was still significantly more uncomfortable with the scrutiny, pressing himself slightly closer to the dragon.

It didn't take far too long for the dragon to start talking and sharing in the excitement with the rest of the crowd. Ailmer lost himself in the blur outside, his jaw still tight as he watched the crowd carefully for a change in tone that never came. Beroan, however, happily drank down the attention that was given to him. He answered all manner of questions without hesitation; thankfully, none of the people asked about the more uncouth things, as Ailmer would have bet that Beroan would have excitedly spilled out the truth.

However, it didn't take too long for the crowd to disperse the less interested members of the onlookers. The children were shooed back to an unproductive day of school where they would certainly do nothing but talk about the beast, and many of the artisans and laborers of the town figured they had work to do and coin to make. However, there was still quite a large crowd, and though Beroan was enjoying the Attention too much to notice his rumbling gut when someone suggested that they take the party to the tavern there was near-unanimous agreement.

Finally, Ailmer found himself much more comfortable inside the tavern. Especially after a plate of food and a drink or two, he began to actually join in with the questioning crowd that was currently enthralled with the dragon's strange manner of eating. "Lookit those teeth!" was a rather common exclamation, something that Beroan had already found pleasure in displaying his sharp jaws with a grin; something that seemed to only get funnier to the assembled crowd as they imbibed more and more alcohol.

The afternoon went by in a flash. Ailmer had barely noticed any time at all between the plates of stew brought out at lunch and dinner. Perhaps it was the could of drinks or the fact that the busy tavern's excited crowd didn't seem to lose a hint of wonderment while they examined the dragon through the night. Sebastian was involved as well, though he was pulled away quite a bit to serve and pour. He certainly didn't mind the coin he was making, at all, and Ailmer couldn't help but think that was part of the reason he quickly helped goad on the question of, "Can dragons get drunk?"

Ailmer knew it was a bad idea, but by the time word of the challenge had actually gotten to him, he'd been running a steady buzz on the other side of the tavern for a bit, and by the time he'd actually excused himself from the conversations there to go tell the dragon how it was a bad idea, Beroan had been running one too.

Ailmer couldn't help but enjoy the view of the dragon coddling a bowl of cider in both palms, lapping at it quickly with his tongue. "Mngh, Ailmer! This stuff is great! I didn't think I liked it at the start, but this is fun…" He greeted the human, already slurring some of his words.

Ailmer couldn't help but laugh at the dragon's blushed earfins and snout, the black flesh tinted rather noticeably red. The rest of the crowd that was still huddled around the dragon was laughing and cheering. Ailmer was about to say something, but Beroan was quickly distracted as he joined his voice to another rowdy ballad starting up.

"Lo, for the place to go,

Where never a man was bored!"

The sound thundered through the room, Beroan's voice adding a deeper, rumbling tone that gave the drinking tune the impression of thunder. Ailmer couldn't keep the grin from splitting his face as he leaned over to Sebastian; the only other person that hadn't been caught up in the song. "Ailmer! Your dragon's through half a barrel already!" He said with a proud grin.

Ailmer chortled. "Flames, I take it the crowd has him on their tab, I hope?"

"Where they go to lose their coin,

To chug drink and take whores!"

Sebastian nodded quickly, sipping on his own tankard. "Lucky for you, that dragon can drink!"

Ailmer nodded, glancing back at the dragon who was waving his bowl in something resembling the time of the song. "Well, considering how many stone he has over any of us, kinda makes sense."

"Don't tell the wives if you like your lives,

For the wrath of-Ailmer, what's a whore?"

Ailmer nearly spat out his mouthful as Beroan's question completely derailed the song with his question. The rest of the roaring party couldn't finish the line before they were consumed in raucous laughter. Ailmer blushed slightly, hiding his face in his mug as he held a finger out to Beroan to hold on a moment, visibly draining the rest of his mug in audible gulps. With a pant he wiped his mouth, shaking his head at the dragon. "Humans are complicated, but the long and short of it is that whores are people that will mate you for money." He informed him curtly.

"Yeah, you give 'em the long and they don't care none if it's short if you've got the coin!" Someone yelled from the back, thankfully drowning out Beroan's first answer that made Ailmer blush brightly.

Ailmer looked around quickly, but it seemed he'd been the only one that had caught Beroan's words before they were drowned out by the rest of the group's laughter. They quickly drank most of the evening away; perhaps it was the alcohol afflicting the rest of the townsfolk, but they had already begun to talk to Beroan almost as it the dragon was one of them. The drake quickly picked up the favorite drinking songs that were a staple of the tavern, joining his sonorous voice with the rest of the taverns raucous yelling.

Then, Beroan decided to lead the tavern on one of his own. It was no drinking song, not at all, but a haunting, sonorous melody that could only be sung in a dragon's throat, from the low valleys of rumbling boulders to the floating highs of a dragon's flight. He slipped between the hissed rumbles of dragon speech when his Galastian vocabulary failed him, but Ailmer understood every word.

From the stars to the ends of the seas,

Hunting, endlessly.

When my wings fail me, so shall I fall to my paws

And run those ragged on the mountains.

Searching, searching for you, love of loves,

Following those dreams, those thoughts

Those visions of your star that ne'er cease,

Burned into my mind forever.

There is no struggle far enough,

To keep me from you;

Even the embrace of death shan't keep us,

Thou magics, thy bond, inexorably linked.

I know that the fires of your soul shall ne'er leave,

Though mine left cold and barren,

My heart still feels the flames of your warmth,

As distant as they are in memories.

But we seek, we search, both sides of fate,

Mine as driven as yours,

No gulf shall keep us apart, none wide enough,

Even death yields to our soul's power.

The tavern was silent. Even the smallest whisper had dropped off the moment that Beroan's cries had reached the ears of the drunken townsfolk. His words were thick with the magic that only a dragon's singing could weave, leaving the whole of the assembly silent as the last echoing notes rang through the room. Though more than half the poem had been in draconic, the meaning was far from lost on the people. Several of them wiped tears as surreptitiously as they could; Sebastian's head was down on the counter as he hid his own. Ailmer's lips were tight as he fought to choke back sobs.

Beroan lowered his head slowly. His eyes were closed as he finished the melody, slowly opening to look over the stunned humans holding their emotions back. Perhaps he knew; perhaps he did not, but Ailmer knew exactly how rare it was to hear a dragon sing. Beroan glanced around at the suddenly melancholy humans, blinking. "Oh. Have you not heard that one before?" He asked, "It's from… I think, Melchitite's Journey, a long poem. It was my mother's favorite."

"He puts the rest of our sorry voices to shame, don't he?" Reece called out, breaking the song's effect on the room, "If I could sing like that, Belle would never be mad at me!"

It took the better part of an hour for the room to recover, as well as a few more rounds of drinks to set the mood back up. Ailmer smiled and drank, refusing most of what was offered to him, though the drake seemed more than happy to take his share, though he was deep behind his mask. The song's words rang deep in his mind.

It was not the first time he'd heard that story before.

Finally, the crowd began to disperse as the moon peeked up over the hills. Beroan seemed to finally be getting a bit tired, as outgoing as he was, and with a few words from Ailmer, they finally managed to excuse themselves to head back to the mill.

Beroan was over the moon with excitement as they stepped out onto the porch. "That went really well, didn't it? I was worried for a bit there, but I think they all seem to like-" He started before a misplaced paw sent him tumbling down the short set of stairs leading from the tavern down onto the main street.

Ailmer yelped, diving out to catch the drunken dragon, but he missed almost as badly, managing to land on his hands rather than a pile. Beroan groaned, but it was quickly apparent that the only thing damaged was his pride. Ailmer huffed to himself, managed to get back up to his feet to dust himself off, glancing over at the drake. "Sebastian sells potent stuff, doesn't he?" He said.

Beroan huffed as he too struggled to his feet, starting to shake himself off before the first attempt at the instinctual motion caused the whole world to tilt around him. He nearly lost his balance on the flat ground, stumbling a bit before finally managing to regain his footing and steady himself. "This is drunk? It's not… I feel great, except for the dizzy." Beroan stated.

"How much did you drink anyway?" Ailmer managed to ask, suddenly realizing he had forgotten to count.

"I unno." Beroan said, blinking a bit as he narrowed his eyes, staring down the main street as if he was trying to hunt the shifting ground.

Ailmer rumbled a bit. He wasn't entirely worried that the drink would do any harm to Beroan. Dragons could drink ale like water; he doubted they had enough space in them to drink a dangerous amount. However, he was a bit more worried about the dragon simply stumbling into something pointy-to be fair, he wasn't much better off. They shared in their stumbling, supporting each other in their slow hike back towards the mill, blocking each other wordlessly, almost instinctively, when they began to stumble too far towards the edges of the path.

***

When they reached the mill, closing the gate peacefully behind them, they both stopped to take a moment to stare upwards at the stars. Framed by the clearing, they wordlessly watched the twinkling points of light keeping their watch over the blackness, cut by the slow path of the moon across the sky. With no torches to dull their view, the cloudless night displayed a wealth of stars in a swirling pattern above them. Even the smallest, usually invisible points of light were visible in the clear night sky.

The only sound around them as they paused was that of their breathing, slow, gentle sounds of the pair as they watched the moon, framed by the boughs of the forest that surrounded the mill's humble clearing. They both took their time to enjoy the moment, before Ailmer took it upon himself to break the silence, gently leaning himself against the dragon beside him.

Beroan looked up to the human, smiling in the most peculiar draconic way. "Are you alright, Ail?" He chimed.

Ailmer smiled, looking back down to the dragon. "I'm doing pretty good. Starting to sober up a bit."

Beroan nodded slightly, glancing back up to the stars. He let out a soft huff, as he examined them further. "Are you?" Ailmer replied.

Beroan nodded, his eyes still staring at the stars. "Mhm. Though, Ail, does alcohol usually make you horny?"

Ailmer blinked, his eyes squeezing shut as he was taken aback by the sudden question. "I, uh, I suppose it can. Not always." He replied.

Beroan nodded, looking back at the human. His muzzle's smile split into a bit more of a grin. "Did it make you horny tonight?"

Ailmer couldn't help but laugh, giving the dragon's flank a smack. "Insufferable lizard."

Beroan grinned, suddenly bending in to nuzzle right against Ailmer's belly. "So is that a yes, or…"

Ailmer chuckled, shaking his head as he reached down to affectionately stroke down the sides of the dragon's muzzle with both hands, teasing a purr from the drake before he replied. "What did you have in mind?"

"Can I trod your tail?" He rumbled, hopefully, staring up at Ailmer with those azure eyes.

Ailmer glanced at the dragon. He didn't really need to size him up; his tongue and hands had done that plenty of times. He knew his limits, and the dragon was just inside of those… But he sighed softly, a smile coming to his face as he looked back down at the dragon curled around him. "Be gentle?" He asked.

Beroan couldn't hide his glee, his tail thumping the ground. "Of course, Ail."

Ailmer didn't even bother going inside.

Perhaps it was the moonlight, perhaps they knew it was one of the last few warm nights that the year had in store for them, but Ailmer simply walked out into the clearing and began to undress. Beroan huffed softly, his eyes eagerly drinking in the sight of the human in the moonlight as he tossed his shirt away. Ailmer turned around, making sure to show himself off for the dragon, stretching his back out for the male before he hooked his thumbs into his trousers, starting to slide them back. He hid his grin as he heard Beroan huff out behind him as he watched. "What's that, Beroan?" Ailmer asked, slowly sliding his pants down, wagging his ass at the drake.

Beroan growled eagerly, pawing lightly at the ground. "I want you, Ail..."

Ailmer grinned, wagging his ass slowly at the dragon before he turned around to show off his front. He took his time pulling off his trousers, taking as long as he could to slowly work them across his bulge, bending his shaft down as he showed off the base, reveling in the soft whines and sounds of pleasure that the teased drake made. He'd love to tease the dragon less, but Beroan's little noises made it so damn fun.

Finally, with a hot murr from Beroan, he let his pants drop, his erection standing out proudly in front of the dragon. Beroan padded forward, the dragon's erection already throbbing between his legs. He rumbled softly, padding up to gently nuzzle against the human's belly, his tail flicking softly as he shifted his muzzle up, nuzzling right up under Ailmer's chin. Ailmer let out a satisfied sigh, nuzzling back down, gently planting a kiss on the dragon's cheek.

Beroan reached up to gently stroke along Ailmer's side with a forepaw. "You're sure, Ail?"

Ailmer nodded, a smirk turning up the sides of his lips. "You won't hurt me."

Beroan nodded softly, pressing his head affectionately against Ailmer's chest for a few moments before he leaned down, licking slowly along Ailmer's belly down to that shaft.

Ailmer huffed softly, reaching down to rub warmly over Beroan's head as the dragon licked softly along the sides of the human's stiff cock. Ailmer huffed softly, licking his lips as he watched his shaft bob, bouncing back against the dragon's muzzle each time that warm tongue pulled off it. Ailmer closed his eyes, enjoying the feeling of that warm tongue lapping at his cock, the warm slickness of the tongue contrasting with coolness as the dragon's saliva made his shaft glisten in the moonlight. "Well, are you just content with that, dragon?" Ailmer teased.

Beroan huffed, shifting to warmly suckle on the tip of the human's cock. "Just wanna taste."

Ailmer chuckled, gently pressing himself forward, his hand stroking along the dragon's head scales. Beroan purred softly as Ailmer drove his cock into the dragon's warm mouth. Ailmer let out a soft huff himself as he felt Beroan's tongue nimbly wrap around the length of his shaft, squeezing wetly in the dragon's hot muzzle. Ailmer let out a hot huff, looking down to meet Beroan's eager gaze. He stared into those deep blue eyes, a smile crossing his face as he reached down to gently hold onto one of the drake's backswept horns. Ailmer panted softly, the human bucking slowly into the embrace of the drake's tongue.

Beroan took his time, enjoying the strong buzz that the cider had brought on. He'd sobered past the stumbling and dizziness near the end of the walk back, but the lovely tingle of the alcohol was still keeping him hot and his body oversensitive, his tongue tingling as it worked along the human's warm cock.

It didn't take Beroan too long to get impatient, however. The dragon soon pulled back a bit in opposition to Ailmer's tugging hand. Ailmer let go of the dragon's horn with his gentle goading, letting his cock slide free of that warm maw into the cool air of the night. He licked his lips, his view of his glistening cock framed by Beroan's face, lit up by the hunter's moonlight.

Ailmer had just begun to open his mouth to continue with some sort of teasing snark before his eyes were suddenly directed down as the drake shifted. His words caught in his throat as his eye caught the dragon's cock as he showed off, shifting his form lithely as he padded around the human.

Of course, Ailmer was accustomed to the drake's size. It wasn't absurd, by any means, as the dragon only weighed a few stone more than he did, but Beroan's throbbing cock was certainly more than impressive. That cock jutted out in the moonlight, a glistening drop of precum catching the light on his pointed tip, showing off every ridge down to the dragon's beefy base. The cock was, mercifully, tapered quite forgivingly; the swell of his tip both softer than the rest of his spear, the shaft tapering down past a handful of ridges that wrapped around it.

Ailmer was very familiar with that cock. He'd spent plenty of time fondling or sucking on the horny dragon since they'd met, but the thought of actually taking that thick rod certainly had some hangups to it. Ailmer took a deep breath, the sudden blast of oxygen making his head spin with the effects of the alcohol. He knew he could take the dragon, it had just been so long… "Ready, Ail?" Beroan rumbled eagerly.

Ailmer watched the dragon's cock flex in the air as he impatiently waited on the human. Ailmer chuckled to himself, taking another deep breath, slower this time, as he nodded. Beroan waited for Ailmer, letting him kneel down on the ground before turning around, simply going on to all fours. He knew there were other positions, of course, but between the drink and his long hiatus, he didn't trust himself with any of the more complicated moves."Like this?" Ailmer asked.

Beroan growled eagerly from behind him, the dragon stepping up without any goading. Ailmer shared in Beroan's warm huff as the dragon's warm underbelly slid up along his back, the human panting out as the drake's warm, leathery bellyscales pressed down against his naked back. He couldn't help but enjoy the feeling of the warm dragon above him, the feel of his warm scales pressing down against his back, the sight of the dragon's forelegs on either side of him, the way Beroan's thick claws dug into the turf while his thick shaft ground against his back.

They both shared an eager groan as Beroan's thick cock pressed forward, straining gently between the human's legs, pressing against his sac to spread the over-productive dragon's precum over his balls, the stiff cock straining eagerly against the human's rump. Beroan gave a few needy humps against the human, pulling back to let his tip work up against the human's undercarriage before it slid between his cheeks. Beroan gave a needy pant above him, whining out eagerly as his throbbing cock slid right over the human's hole, pressing eagerly against him to drool precum onto his lower back. "Mnf, Beroan… Careful, you're not small…" Ailmer warned, the dragon nodding slightly above him.

Ailmer took a few deeper breaths to relax, his heart beating faster as he felt the dragon's pants press those warm bellyscales against Ailmer's back and the feel of the dragon's accelerated heartbeat above him. The drake gave a few more humps, trying to keep them slower and more controlled this time, grinding the whole length of that throbbing, tapered cock against Ailmer's rump. Ailmer couldn't help but bite his lip, shivering just slightly as the dragon drug his ridged over his tight hole.

Finally, though, Beroan finally managed to keep his eagerness under control for long enough to line up his tip with Ailmer's tight entrance. Ailmer took a deep breath, in time with Beroan, as the dragon gently worked his softer tip against that hole. It finally hit Ailmer that he'd not used any lube, or made any in a very long time, but thankfully, the drake was providing more than enough precum to remedy that situation. He would have hated to stop at this point; he might even be more disappointed than the dragon.

However, as that slick tip ground up against his ass, he felt Beroan humping forward just slightly, grinding himself down a bit more as he forced himself to hold back his needy thrusts. "Ail…" Beroan started, breathlessly.

"Beroan?" Ailmer replied.

"May I?" Beroan managed, squirming eagerly above the human, that huge cock straining against his hole as the needy dragon barely held himself back.

Ailmer took a moment, panting softly under the dragon, feeling the physically powerful form of the dragon atop him. He pressed himself back just a bit, forcing the dragon to bend slightly forward to keep his hips back far enough to keep his shaft from penetrating the human. Ailmer reached up, slowly wrapping his arm around the dragon's neck to pull the flexible dragon's neck down, pulling his muzzle down in front of him. Beroan stared back into Ailmer's eyes, his head upside down before he realized how Ailmer was going to answer.

Ailmer leaned forward, just slightly, to press his lips right against Beroan's.

Beroan let out a soft huff, the pair closing their eyes as they pressed into the kiss; both with their reasons that made their hearts race the moment their lips met. Ailmer was the first to open his, the pair slipping their tongues against each other before Beroan finally bunkered down just a bit, slowly starting to press himself forward.

Ailmer moaned out into the kiss, losing the concentration he was using to slide his tongue along Beroan's, as the dragon's thick cock pushed slowly down into the male. That throbbing erection spread him out, but thankfully, Beroan was true to his word. He made sure that his shaft spread enough precum before he pressed another inch in, pausing every so often when he felt Ailmer's body protesting to allow him to adjust to the dragon's prodigious member.

Ailmer squirmed a bit, panting loudly as he couldn't do much more than cling to the form of the powerful, muscular dragon above him. His hands grabbed for the dragon's forelegs, holding tightly to the small scales over strong muscles, feeling them flex with each slow buck the dragon made. The drake's muscular belly, barely cloaked under his softer, larger bellyscales ground down eagerly against the human's back. The drake's warmth pressed almost oppressively down on him, teasing gasps from Ailmer as his thick shaft pressed deep into the human.

Ailmer couldn't do much more than pant and squirm until his body began to re-adjust to the drake's shaft. After a few minutes of slow work he was finally starting to get comfortable, finally starting to get the peace of mind to really enjoy the feel of each of the drake's ridges as they slid in and out of him, the feel of the dragon's shaft throbbing with the drake's rather fast heartbeat, and the huffing pants of the drake above him. Beroan whined hotly into the air; it seemed he was enjoying this far more than he'd thought… Ailmer was almost having the same experience.

Finally, Ailmer brought himself all the way back. He clenched down every so often, priding himself on flexing just as the drake was pushing in to tease the drakes claws deeper into the earth. Beroan let out hot, shivering huffs above the human, the dragon's eyes closed as he worked himself in the human underneath him.

Ailmer grinned to himself as a wonderful idea crossed his mind. He squirmed just a bit, bumping his hips to the inside of Beroan's strong thighs, just enough to get the dragon to peak underneath himself curiously. With a sudden, trained motion, Ailmer twisted slightly and flipped the dragon right onto his back.

Beroan let out a startled 'Awk!' as the human shifted him, the noise transforming quickly into a soft moan as Ailmer hilted himself again above the dragon. Beroan was about to protest, but as the Human began to work himself up and down on the dragon's spear, he became instantly comfortable with the arrangement. Especially now, as he watched Ailmer work his form up and down in the moonlight, he could really appreciate the strange human's scale-less form. A particular press had him squirming underneath the human, however, as Ailmer ground his rump right up against Beroan's malevent.

Ailmer panted, grinding himself at the full hilt there with a soft groan. His ass ached in the best way as he felt Beroan's thick cockbase flex inside of him, the human squirming as his stiff member drooled precum over the dragon's front. Beroan let out a soft huff, reaching up to warmly cup Ailmer's hip and rump in a warm paw, holding him slightly as the human started to set the pace, slowly pulling almost all the way up to sink back down, letting the drake's thick, pre-slick cock slowly fill him. "Beroan…" Ailmer started.

Beroan glanced up, cocking his head slightly before another full gyration forced him to squirm. Ailmer reached down, pressing his palm against Beroan's cheek… slowly guiding the dragon's muzzle up, right against his, into another deep kiss. They both sighed happily, panting softly into each other's mouths as Ailmer worked himself slowly up and down on that shaft, his squats starting to quicken as Beroan's tongue slid nimbly along his, gently wrapping around the human's warm muscle. Their breath poured out against each other, the pair treasuring this moment in the moonlight for as long as they could.

However, it didn't take long for the overstimulated dragon to shiver and reflexively grind up against Ailmer on a particularly pleasurable buck. A hissed gasp escaped him as he pulled back slightly from the kiss, his pawtoes curling reflexively as he gasped, barely able to hold back his eruption. Ailmer couldn't miss the dragon's reflex, grinning as he panted to himself, working himself in another slow, luxurious buck. "A-Ail, I-I'm gonna…" Beroan managed to warn before another gyration with the drake's cock fully hilted in him cut him off with a moan.

Ailmer nodded quickly, panting himself, as he tried to hold himself back, the dragon's cock pulsing deep inside of him. He panted, reaching down to hold onto Beroan's horns as he worked his ass in a quickening circle, keeping every inch of the dragon hilted inside of him as he worked himself around, whimpering softly as he was nearly there as well, and the feel of the big dragon grinding around deep inside of him as he worked his hips was almost too much to take.

It was certainly too much for the dragon to take. Beroan let out an eager moan as he flexed under the human, his thick cock pulsing inside of that tight, hot tunnel as the dragon squirmed over the ground, bucking up slightly into Ailmer as the first shot of thick seed poured deep into the human. Ailmer gasped, squirming as he felt that thick cock pulse and hot warmth blossom out inside of him, reaching down to squeeze his shaft just a few times.

By Beroan's second shot, Ailmer hit his peak as well. He began to cum, shooting his load over Beroan's front, neck… and face. The drake's cheek scales took on a slight tint of red as he felt Ailmer's cum splash over his face, but his eyes were still shut tightly as his thick cock pulsed, pouring a pent up load deep into the human atop him.

The pair's pants and whines echoed each other in the quiet clearing as they rode each other's powerful orgasms out. They had both been pent up, and their position forced every drop of seed out of both of them, leaving them throbbing as they finished into and over each other. Ailmer shivered softly, panting softly as he clenched down slightly, forcing a squirm out of the dragon he was riding, and a tremble that milked the last few drops of seed from his tip, dripping those last few glistening drops onto Beroan's chest scales.

A gentle pull from Beroan's paw on Ailmer's rump told him the dragon was feeling overly sensitive, and each flex of that cock inside the human forced pressure against his prostate, reminding him that he was feeling much the same way. Ailmer took a deep breath, biting his lip as he closed his eyes, pulling himself slowly up from that beefy dragon dick. Beroan echoed his shivered gasp as his shaft pulled free of the warm human, the drake's seed dripping down one of Ailmer's legs. Beroan's black cock was framed with glistening, white seed in the night, leaving Ailmer panting and squirming a bit as he rubbed his ass, half standing above the dragon.

Ailmer wasn't sure if his knees gave out at that point or if he felt like the drake looked much more comfortable than standing. He flopped himself right down onto the strong dragon, cuddling him belly-to-belly. Beroan huffed softly, leaning down to gently nuzzle the human, his cock relaxing slightly to rest against Ailmer's rump, causing them to both blush slightly and rumble, resting in the afterglow and their respective, remaining buzzes. "Ail…" Beroan started.

"Mn, Beroan?"

"That was nice…" Beroan rumbled.

Ailmer nodded in agreement, hugging himself closer to the warm dragon as the mild night began to chill.

***

It took far less time than anyone expected to get used to Beroan's presence in the town. It wasn't more than a week or so before Ailmer had felt comfortable enough to send the dragon into town on his own. He was very grateful for the help; the dragon didn't complain one bit about pulling the cart. Honestly, the dragon barely noticed the extra weight. Ailmer had worried for a moment that Beroan would get a hint of his race's ever-common vanity and refuse to be used as a pack animal, but the dragon had never shown any amount of that particular draconic leaning.

The townsfolk took a few days to warm up. The first few days of Ailmer bringing Beroan to down brought with them some tension, of course, but enough of the men had figured out that dragons could drink just as well as any of them; perhaps that, more than anything else, had convinced them of Beroan's sentience. Ailmer, however, couldn't place his itch.

He still regarded the turning leaves with suspicion, a feeling that only got stronger as the brilliant reds and yellows of the forest started to grow veins of brown. He'd been hoping that his worries were based on Beroan, that the townspeople would revolt, that the dragon would suddenly turn on him, but neither of his worst worries had come to fruition. He wasn't complaining, not in the least, but it worried him more than the happy resolution of those things didn't assuage the pit in his stomach.

Perhaps it was that the rumblings of war from Astal were getting louder and louder. Where they had someone rushing from the border once a week or so through the summer, the turning leaves had brought with them a steadier flow of refugees.

Their stories didn't really line up, however. Some claimed that the other countries were attacking, telling stories of the bloodthirsty warriors from the east and the impenetrably-disciplined ranks of armored warriors from the northern states. However, even more worryingly, were the few that rambled drunkenly on about strange creatures of stone, and those, that when asked for their story, simply looked into space with an expression that showed that they fully believed they'd been slighted by the gods.

More brown began to tint the leaves of the trees, and the loss of the first leaves brought with it the nightly chills of the coming winter. The town was readying itself for the last large harvest that heralded the feasts of Halin's harvest in the coming few weeks. The farmers that spent their spare time in town had made themselves scarce as they began the backbreaking work of their final harvests before the winter. Reece was exhausted, and stacks of barrels began to appear outside his home as he tried to meet the farmer's demand for storage. Ailmer had his work cut out for him; though with a dragon to trade off with him working the mill and running the cart to town, this year's work went far faster than any he'd had in recent memory. Beroan didn't mind the Miller's downtime, making sure that Ailmer did go to bed exhausted.

Nevertheless, there was something going on for everyone in the town. Sebastian's bar, though it was usually a common watering hole, became a place of near reverence when people's work lined up enough that enough friends could actually have a night to themselves.

"Ailmer! I haven't seen you or your drake in near a week and a half!" Reece called out.

This was one of those evenings. "Reece! Getting tired of barrels yet?" Ailmer called back, settling himself around the table with the group of regulars.

Beroan took another route, accepting a bowl of honeyed mead from Sebastian before carefully working his way over to the table to sit down next to Ailmer, pushing a chair out of his way. Reece chuckled to himself, sitting back in his chair with an exasperated sigh. "I've been tired of them since last year. I swear I don't see why all of you can't just hammer together some boxes and leave me alone."

Ailmer chuckled, shrugging. "Well, the mill ain't much better. Least you get to hammer out different things, I just get to walk in a circle."

"Yeah, but you've got a dragon to trade off with!" Reece shot back, "If I had dragon fire to help me forge, I'd be damn near done with this season's work."

Beroan grinned cheekily, blowing an experimental puff of fire into the air above the table. Sebastian's head snapped up, nearly diving over the counter to wave a towel over the dragon. "Hey! Not in here, 's made of wood!"

Beroan smirked mischievously. "Sorry!"

Ailmer shook his head, reaching up to rub his forehead. "How's the hand, Reece?"

Reece grumbled to himself, scowling as he looked over to his injured right hand, wrapped somewhat tightly in linen fabric. "It's no fun. I usually keep great track of everything I've heated, so I thought it just fell off the shelf. Stupid me just reached down and grabbed it instead of testing with the back of my hand first."

Beroan quickly glanced to the side, wincing to himself as he found himself suddenly over-interested in the coats hung up beside the door.

"Blue and gold on the street!" They were interrupted by a farmer's yell as he entered the tavern.

The conversation inside the tavern stopped suddenly, devolving into confused murmurs. Ailmer blinked, composing his thoughts. "Blue and gold?" Beroan asked his muzzle still halfway in the bowl of mead.

"Galast's colors. Army's here." Ailmer growled, a frown spreading across his face.

Ailmer stood up, glancing up at Sebastian. The tavern keep nodded, waving to his wife, in the kitchen. "Gonna see what they want." He called, leading the way outside.

As they pushed out the door, Ailmer's stomach dropped. He counted twenty-five; a full platoon. By the standard and the ribbons, they were officer heavy, too. Three Sergeants, a first Sergeant, and a Lieutenant, if Ailmer was reading the stripes correctly. He let out a frustrated exhalation as he watched the patrol, leaning himself on the side railing of the porch.

The Lieutenant stepped forward, his hand resting on the pommel of his sword. The rest of the patrol visibly relaxed, leaning in on their spears as the watchful eyes of the officer left them. "You there? Are you the owner of the tavern?" The officer barked, pointing up to Ailmer.

Ailmer simply narrowed his eyes at the fresh-faced officer. The man was clean shaven, and it looked like he'd only grown the stubble that had managed to take root in the last few days, probably since he'd left his previous station. He walked with a bluster, his chest puffed out and his new boots barely scuffed by his travels. Ailmer let the lieutenant posture for a minute before simply shaking his head, gesturing with his head at Sebastian.

Maybe he had chosen Ailmer based on his posture or looks, or in the vain hope that the miller was the owner of the tavern by the simple fact that he looked the least hostile to the patrol by simple virtue of looking nothing more than disinterested. Sebastian was standing with a remarkably sour expression on his face, his arms crossed in front of him as he regarded the warriors with narrowed eyes. The Lieutenant took a slow breath, taking a few more swaggering steps up towards the porch. "You, then, peasant. My men require lodging for the night."

Sebastian's face twitched. "Your men have tents."

"I am lieutenant Brevaler LeCam of the Galast army, and my men require lodging." He huffed, puffing out his chest to show off his stripes.

Sebastian crossed his arms, making no move as the Lieutenant postured. The first sergeant behind him sighed visibly, shaking his head as he broke rank. He was grizzled; from the expression, he wore to the bushy mustache that he got away with on his upper lip told the story of the various promotions into the officer's corps he'd turned down. "Our men have coin." He interjected simply.

It was obvious that Sebastian would like nothing better than to send the patrol out into the woods, but another quick headcount and a quick profit calculation in his head forced him to reconsider silently. He sighed slowly through his nose, looking over the small patrol. "Your men drink?" He asked.

"Like fish." Brevaler sneered.

"Not for free." The First sergeant quickly interjected.

Sebastian nodded slowly. He still looked, disdainfully, over the fighters uniforms. He glanced over at Ailmer's neutral face as if to ask for advice. Ailmer gave a slight nod, his own withering gaze tracing over the various fighters. Too many of them looked greener than spring leaves; either their higher-ups weren't expecting much, or Galast had been very actively conscripting.

"Dragon!" One of them called out, suddenly.

Almost everyone jumped, spinning around to greet a somewhat bemused Beroan who'd just poked his head out of the bar to investigate the noise. Ailmer broke his stoic frown, shaking his head as he waved the drake over to him. "What, they dissolve the dragon riders before your time?" He joked.

"Dragon riders?" Beroan asked, padding over to sit down beside the miller.

Some of the back ranks of the patrol stumbled back a bit, earning them a sharp bark from the Lieutenant as the dragon stepped up beside Ailmer. Ailmer smirked as he looked over the patrol's slack-jawed reaction to the rather indifferent dragon. "You haven't heard the stories? Well, I was under the impression that they still did, but Galast used to hold an elite group of dragon riders for use as scouts. They were pretty big during the gem wars." Ailmer explained.

Beroan nodded quickly, staring up at Ailmer with a bit more wonder than Ailmer had expected. "Why'd they stop?"

The Lieutenant sighed, crossing his arms as he glanced back to the ranks as the men fell into line. "They didn't. These privates just haven't ever encountered one before. They aren't exactly common." Brevaler rumbled, "So, innkeep, do you have beds?"

"It might be a bit tight, but I've the rooms." Sebastian answered after a bit more internal debate, "Best behave yourselves, though. Keep your brawling outside."

"Well, I haven't finished my mead yet, then." Ailmer said, pushing himself off the porch rail.

"There's more mead?" Beroan asked, excitedly.

***

Sebastian's sour mood improved markedly after everyone had gotten situated inside and Brevaler had begun to count out a handful of silver onto his bar. The rest of the battalion had settled down to plates of hot food and cold drink; obviously a luxury after what they'd been used to on the road. Most of them still eyed Beroan with suspicion. The first sergeant was the only one that seemed to be at ease with the dragon in the room. By means of comparison, the Lieutenant was glancing nervously over his shoulder at the dragon even more often than some of the greener troops.

Beroan, in the typical draconic manner, didn't seem to mind the glances. If he did, he certainly enjoyed the attention. The dragon happily slurped down his cider by the bowl, his cheek scales reddening more and more as he gulped down his drink. Ailmer was a bit more reserved, drinking his ale slowly as he kept himself on guard to watch the patrol. It didn't take long for him to have to keep pushing Beroan's exploring tail away under the table as it kept trying to wrap around his foot and ankle or slide up to his crotch.

"Strange to see a dragon outside of the academy or the mountains." A voice interrupted Ailmer as he pushed Beroan's nimble tail off his crotch again.

"Mn, they're kinda rare…" He started, glancing up to see the first sergeant wiping the head of his ale off his mustache as he sidled up to the table.

"This seat taken?" He asked.

Ailmer glanced between the sergeant and the drake, shrugging. "I don't mind a guardsman that actually knows what he's doing."

The sergeant laughed, setting his tankard on the table to sit himself down casually. Various medals and fineries jingled on his chest. He automatically reached up a hand to cover and steady them to stop the noise, settling into his chair. He was obviously a bit drunk, though Ailmer spotted a few tics that showed him that the fighter wasn't as drunk as he seemed to be. His eyes continually scanned the room every so often, making sure to fall on anything unfamiliar. He was very careful to keep track of the barkeep as well as the reactions from the rest of the patrol across the room. "I should not talk ill of my superior officer." He said.

The glint in his eyes told Ailmer everything he needed to know about that particular relationship. Ailmer shook his head, pulling his mug back up to his lips as the sergeant pulled out a chair, slumping down with his arm over the back of the chair in a practiced motion. Ailmer watched carefully, cloaking his stare with a deeper tip of his tankard; only those warriors that had little chance to appreciate a chair truly knew how to appreciate every moment of slouching. With a slight sigh, the sergeant settled back a bit more, taking a few heavy gulps from his tankard. "I don't think I caught your name." Ailmer said.

"Zaid. Usually, it turns into sarge, but that's probably not the case with anyone out here." He replied.

Ailmer nodded. "Seems like you'd be used to the sentiments out here. Further away from the capital you get, the less the military tends to be liked, Especially in larger groups."

Zaid nodded, tipping back another deep swig. "Yeah. This is actually the first tavern that's let us stay since Culcheth."

Ailmer raised his brow. "Seems like your officer over there would be the first one to order quartering. Damn surprised you got him to pay."

Zaid sighed. "When you force quartering, you tend to wake up with your payment taken, one way or another. Don't help soldier's reputation any, neither. Had to talk him out of several times already; though the last time he tried it, the poor fool woke up without two of his rings."

Ailmer couldn't keep the smirk off his face. "Seems like it wouldn't be hard to figure out."

Zaid chuckled. "You're not wrong. But ain't like a patrol, even a full one, is gonna be able to force anything out of a whole angry town."

"Like trying to squeeze water out of iron, sure."

"Shoulda seen his face. He was red for days after that and I haven't had to talk him out of quartering since."

Ailmer couldn't help but stifle a chuckle, squirming a bit as Beroan seemed intent on prodding him under the table with his tail. The dragon let out a whurf, setting his head down on the table next to a now-empty bowl of cider. The sergeant glanced over, setting his tankard down on the table with a grin. "To think, the rest of the squad is scared half to death of your drake." He said, lowering his voice slightly.

Ailmer nodded. "You should have seen him when the town caught him sneaking around. Torches, mob, everything."

Zaid grinned, reaching out to grab one of the drake's horns, pushing his head back and forth just a bit. The dragon grumbled softly, though, with the amount of cider he'd already drunk, the table was just too comfortable to give up. Ailmer glanced back towards the other soldiers, barely choking down laughter as he caught Brevaler white as a sheet. Zaid pushed Beroan's head again, the dragon grumbling before making a half-hearted snap at that hand. It missed by half a foot; the lazy dragon still found the table too comfortable to really move, but it did have the effect Zaid desired. A short gasp sounded out from the other table, quickly followed by raucous laughter from the townsfolk. "Ailmer, make him stop…" Beroan rumbled lazily.

Zaid chuckled, letting go to pick his tankard back up, peering inside as he realized that he had, in fact, emptied it. He turned in his chair, calling back to the other table. "Yeah, I know at least one of you guys over there just lost a bet. Who wants to refill this in penance?" He grinned, turning back to Ailmer. "Ailmer, though? Name I haven't heard in a long time."

Ailmer blinked before his eyes narrowed slightly. "Forgot how much I hated that question. No relation."

Zaid held up a palm, leaning back a bit. "No offense. Just a couple similarities, from the stories at least."

Ailmer nodded slightly, squirming just a bit as Beroan's tail squirmed up the inside of one of his thighs under the table. "Yeah, I get that a lot."

"Dragon doesn't particularly help your image." Zaid grinned cheekily, accepting another tankard of ale from Sebastian, paid for by his comrade's coin.

Ailmer chuckled. "Fair. What are you marching towards, anyway?"

Zaid shrugged. "Got us filling out the border guard. Apparently there's something rough going on in Astal. Probably going to end up being a boring few months."

Ailmer nodded. "We've been getting strange travelers from across the border lately, though. Lots of rumblings. I wouldn't be surprised if there is a war on."

Zaid frowned slightly. "Would explain a few things. Hope there isn't, though. Idiot lieutenant's leadership'll get us all killed."

Ailmer nodded slightly, glancing over towards Brevaler. The pompous officer was sitting crankily, swigging from his own tankard as the soldiers around him did their best to avoid eye contact. Ailmer frowned slightly, turning back to the sergeant. "Is LeCam a big name back in the capital?"

"He's noble, barely. LeCams own a bunch of rocky farming land, just outside the good stuff near the city. His name got him into the officer's corps and the rest of him kept him stuck at Lieutenant." Zaid said.

"Ah. I suppose I know that type of noble." Ailmer said.

"Wish we didn't." Zaid answered.

Another push from Beroan's tail drove the tip right up against Ailmer's crotch. He tried to keep his composure, stepping lightly down on it to push it away under the table as he did his best to keep his upper half as steady as possible. Beroan gave a huff, lifting his head to lazily lap at the last of his cider.

The amount that dragons could sprawl was something that always amazed Ailmer. Currently, the drake had his cheek on the table, his neck flopped over a forepaw that was barely hooked onto the edge of the wood, his body draped sideways over a chair that was balanced precariously on two legs, his hips sat with a flank on the ground, and his hindlegs stretched out over the floor. Somehow, the drake managed to make it seem comfortable as if he was simply melting over his meticulously balanced flop.

Ailmer chuckled, finishing off the last swig of his mead. "Alright. I really ought to take the lizard home. Any longer and he's gonna end up on the floor."

Beroan huffed, sticking his tongue out at Ailmer over the table. Zaid laughed, shaking his head. "Didn't even know the things could get drunk. He's putting on a show of it. If you're a miller, though, you've got your work cut out for you over the next few weeks, don't you, with the harvest coming up."

Ailmer nodded slightly, setting his tankard down before standing. Beroan rumbled, slowly extracting himself from the strange position as soon as he realized he couldn't stretch his tail out enough to keep prodding Ailmer after he stood. "You're not wrong. I ought to get some sleep. You ought to, too. It's a day or two's walk, no telling what you'll find there."

Zaid stood himself, taking another heavy swig of his drink. "Ahilia's mercies on you, then."

"Makith's fires burn through your sword." Ailmer replied, pushing his chair in, waving Beroan along with him. Zaid glanced back at the retreating miller, his eyes narrowing a bit with the blessing as he watched Ailmer walk away. A few lines of the legends rang through Zaid's head; the resemblance was just much to chalk up to coincidence.

***

The soldiers left the next day. Ailmer missed their exodus; he was far more interested in sleeping in after attempting, again, to sate the insatiable dragon that had pounced him as soon as they got into the mill. They'd stayed up until they were both relatively sober and far too exhausted to carry on, enjoying a bit of extra time during the early harvest season.

However, as the grain began to pour in from the fields, Ailmer had his work cut out of them. The harvest season hit full swing a few days after the patrol had left town, leaving a huge amount of grain stacked around the mill. He'd quickly run out of room in the shed, and barrels were quickly invading the mill's yard. Stacks of grain in barrels and burlap bags were stacked along the walls of the shed, and as quickly as Beroan could move the cart to town and back to deliver flour, the townsfolk always managed to load him down with more grain on the way back. It wasn't uncommon for Beroan to return with more barrels and bags than he'd left with.

***

It had been nearly a week since the soldiers had left. Ailmer sighed, releasing the grindstone's lever to rub his aching palms. At least the day was cool, the sun was only peeking every so often through the overcast sky. It didn't smell like rain, at least, so Ailmer was thankful for the cooler air that kept the milling work slightly more tolerable. Beroan had left the mill into town with another cartload of grain several hours ago to deliver in Mossly proper, leaving Ailmer to try to keep up production so that they could load him up again for another run before the afternoon.

"Ailmer! Ailmer!" He was interrupted from his break by a roar from outside.

Ailmer managed to get outside just in time to see Beroan landing hastily in the center of the clearing. "Beroan? What's wrong?"

"Ikthil. Mossly. There's lots of them, a big one too." He exclaimed breathlessly.

Ailmer froze for a heartbeat as he heard the news. His blood ran cold in his veins as he jumped into action, sprinting over towards the mill's front door. He slammed to door open, sprinting inside to gather a handful of things - a set of pouches already on a belt and a thick blacksmith's apron, modified into a thick leather tabard more than the old apron that it had been. A belt of pouches, already filled, strapped around it to keep it against him. He was out almost as fast as he'd gone in, pausing only to grab the copper striped mace that Reece had built him from the torch holder just outside the door.

Beroan was already waiting by the gate, leading the way as the pair sprinted back towards the town.
