Depending on who you ask, there are a number of advantages and disadvantages to working the late shift.
The most obvious disadvantage was the lack of sleep. In the plus column, it was usually a lot easier to find parking.
Another negative: Harder to find food.
But the biggest plus, for Vornell, was how he had the whole world all to himself.
As he pulled up to the red light, he looked out of the windows of his hatchback, at the empty streets around him, and smiled.
It was like a movie set, before the first take.
Little did he know that he - and the world - were about to experience something beyond even Hollywood's wildest dreams.
...Maybe not the Valley.
Another disadvantage was caffeine. The world's most popular stimulant was great at keeping you awake.
But that also meant it kept you awake.
Luckily, Vornell had an alternative.
If he was younger, that would be keeping his heart rate up by speeding through the empty streets. A decade or so of paying auto insurance made him take a different risk, instead.
He used his phone while driving.
"Stay awake mix. Shuffle."
His phone beeped dutifully at him. A few seconds later, it started playing a heavy techno mix. Vornell smiled, and drummed along on the steering wheel. He even sang the "We are the Prodigy" bit.
The light went green, and he pulled around the corner, onto 5th street.
Just as the song hit the second line, a light flashed across the sky.
Was that...a meteor? Heading south, toward River Park?
Something hit the Earth somewhere beyond the buildings, with a shake that rattled Vornell's bones. He slammed on the brakes, took a few deep breaths.
So. He could just stay put. Call...somebody. Stay safe.
Or...
He looked at his phone.
And made a choice.
-ATXW-
By the time he hit the park, he told himself that he'd just peek. Just in and out. Then he'd call 911.
As he approached the impact site, through the trees, he noticed something. Blinked a few times, rubbed his eyes. It was still there. Just like it had been when the meteor was flying through the sky.
What sort of meteor glows green?
It was warm. Sticky. Like the hottest day of summer. Except with a funny, chemical taste-smell.
He swallowed, pushed aside a branch and emerged.
The meteor didn't look like a rock. In fact, it looked elongated. Like a cucumber. Except cucumbers weren't made of dark curves and rubbing. Almost organic looking. Kinda like-
Vornell squinted, and tilted his head.
Then he blushed.
Then he raised his phone and took a picture.
Right after he posted it, the space cucumber made a noise. Vornell crouched, beside the bushes.
Light green mist fountained out of some point on the space-cucumber. Light outlined a sort of oval, like the passenger door on an airplane.
Except those opened to the side. They didn't sort of...unfold, in all directions.
And the people who got off were people, not...
Vornell's first thought, as the things inside strode out in greenish light, was that they were tall.
It was hard to judge size at his distance - he didn't have any idea of the scale of space-cucumber-ships - but they seemed tall.
And they also seemed to be made of the same sort of...bio-mechanical shapes as their ship.
Especially one part.
Vornell shrank behind the bush a little farther, and filmed the aliens. Their wide chests, long legs, wide hips, elongated heads, swaying tails, and...
He drew back, again, and rewatched the video. Just to make sure he wasn't hallucinating from the fumes. He paused, and zoomed in on what was between one's legs.
Yep.
That's a penis.
He looked up at the alien women again, then back down at his phone.
Definitely a penis.
What were the odds that aliens would fly through space in a penis-shaped ship, have penis-shaped heads, and have actual penises, just like people?
Well, not just like people. Not without surgical assistance. It was nearly too her knees.
Could he even post this? Where was the pixelation filter? Did aliens count as "animal nudity" by the site rules?
He looked up again, and one of the aliens looked at him.
It wasn't making eye contact. That would require both parties to have eyes. But if it did have eyes, it would've been looking directly at him.
It did have lips.
Was it...smiling?
It turned its head, hissed something to its sisters, and they all looked at Vornell and started walking toward him.
-ATXW-
Vornell's car peeled out in a screech of rubber and a stink of burning tyres.
He nearly clipped a trash can, yanked his wheel away at the last second, and somehow made it onto the road.
His hands squeezed the wheel, his heart pounded faster than the engine, and, just for variety, he swore for a while.
What were those things? How fast were they? Could they catch up to his car?
And why-
Why did they sound like they were laughing?
He glanced in his rearview mirror. No sexy alien women ran after him like that one scene in that dinosaur movie.
He looked forward again just in time to realize he was about to run a red light. Screw it.
He could almost, could almost still smell them. In fact, it was stronger than the park. Had he stepped in something?
He glanced into the footwell. No green on his shoes.
Wait. When he looked in the mirror, there was something out the corner of his eye...
He reached up, with trembling hand, and tapped the bottom of his rearview.
It tilted down.
Just far enough for him to see the dark, rounded shape hiding behind his seat.
The shape that was just opening up at the tip, in a puff of green mist and pulsating light.
Vornell stared at the egg.
And ran into another car.
-ATXW-
Kelli stepped out of her car, stood up, a little unsteadily, and looked at her Kia.
And winced.
Not just from her throbbing head.
Good thing the other guy didn't hit on the driver's side.
She frowned, and looked across her hood at the other guy.
And blinked.
Maybe that airbag deployed harder than she thought.
The other car's windshield was covered in glowing green goo.
Kelli blinked again. Maybe the other guy had harked up a glowstick.
When she told the operator, the other woman asked if Kelli could get an angle on the driver.
Kelli said yes.
Even though she wanted to do nothing more than lie down and take a nap with an icepack on her forehead.
As she circled the back end of her car and approached, the pounding in her head invited a friend to the party; nausea.
"The...the chemical smell is getting stronger. I think it's coming from the other car."
Did Kelli see any leaks?
She looked down. "No. Not yet."
Any sight of the driver?
The other car's side window was cracked, too. Kelli bit her lip, leaned in, reached for the handle...
And the door swung open.
And someone flopped out.
There was...something wrapped around his head. Something dark and...organic? Rubber? Silicone?
And it was changing him.
The dark thing stretched his head, elongated it. It stuck close to his cheeks, until it seemed Kelli could almost see it coating the muscles in his cheeks, even as he clawed at it.
The operator wanted an update.
Kelli was a bit too busy backing away to answer.
The man went limp, stopped clawing at the thing on his face. His chest stopped heaving.
He's not breathing?
What should she do?
The man twitched.
Or, more accurately, part of him twitched.
Kelli stared at the stranger's pants, as he instantly got the hardest hard-on she'd ever seen. So hard his pelvis thrust into the air, at nothing.
If he didn't calm down, he'd pop the zipper.
Was that some sort of brain damage from the lack of air?
The man relaxed his pelvis, then thrust into the air again. Relaxed, then thrust. And-
And something started to leak through his pants.
Kelli's nausea got stronger. She backed away another step.
Another thrust. More leaking. And it was-green?
Kelli looked at the man, then looked at his windscreen. And the possibilities rapidly narrowed.
Either this was an extremely elaborate, extremely dangerous prank, or-
She looked at the man's head. The dark substance was somehow molding his cheeks. And-were those lips? A woman's lips?
"He's changing," she whispered into her phone.
The 911 operator said, "What was that, ma'am?"
"He's-he's-he's transforming!" She wound her free hand through her red hair. "There was something in his car, and it's doing something to him-"
"Ma'am? Ma'am, you need to calm down."
Calm down?
Kelli laughed, a trifle hysterically.
The man on the ground kept thrusting. The green soaked through his pants, ran down to his hips.
Which...were getting wider?
His hand came up, and grabbed the side of his own car. It looked a little thin.
Also, his hand went cut through the side of the car. Just punched a hole right through.
It was probably plastic, but that was still something nobody normal could do, no matter how long their nails were.
And he started to pull himself up.
Probably a bad sign.
"I need to...I need to find someplace," Kelly said. "Someplace like-" She whirled around, and ran around her car again, and yanked at the door. Which refused to open.
Why did I close it?
"Wait," someone rasped behind her.
Kelli spun around.
The thing behind her was...strange.
It looked, at first glance, like a tall, remarkably curvy woman. Except for the dark...carapace over her body. The visible ribbing everwhere. The clearly inhuman elongated head.
And yet, the massive dick wasn't the strangest part. Strangest part was the green goo dripping from her lips. And breasts. And the tip of her cock.
Far, far behind the thing, green fireworks lit up the underside of the clouds. A distant siren echoed off the face of the buildings.
Kelli was starting to have the sneaking suspicion that those weren't fireworks.
"You're not real," she lied.
The creature tilted her head.
"You're not. You're not. You can't be." Kelli reached back, yanked at the door handle as low-key as possible. "You're just a blackout dream from the car accident. People don't just turn into-into-into monsters."
The monster un-tilted its head. And nodded.
And...smiled?
"No," she said. "They don't. Not without...help."
The creature's tail came up, behind her. It waved from side to side, like a cat.
Except cat tails didn't drip green.
Was the tail also a-
Kelli's car door suddenly opened. Which meant she hit herself in the back, and stumbled forward a step. Which put her closer to the monster.
Before Kelli could correct her error, before she could do anything but start a lunge, the monster's tail wrapped around Kelli's legs, and pulled. She fell down, smacked her shoulder on the frame, dropped her phone somewhere, and hit the ground.
Which didn't help her headache one bit.
Not that it was exactly her top concern.
She tried to clutch at the doorframe, but the tail yanked her away as casually as one would turn a key in a lock. The monster's...claws? Talons? Whatever they were, they turned Kelli over, and the thing was right there, on top of her. Kelli held out her hands, and-
And the thing rubbed itself on her.
It rubbed itself up the length of her body. Like...a cat? A snake? Whatever it was, it just covered her. Made something sour rise up in her throat.
Especially with that smell.
"Sure you don't want this?" it whispered.
"No!" she gasped. "Stop!"
And it did.
It actually sat back on its haunches. Her hips. She could feel the weight.
And it looked down on her, past its dick, in somewhat patronizing fashion.
So to speak. It was kind of hard to look at someone without eyes.
And it sighed.
"Well," it said, "I tried the easy way."
Kelli blinked. The easy way?
The cock dripped green onto her belly.
And that was when Kelli noticed the warmth.
She looked down. Her clothes were...dissolving. But the green stuff still sunk into her skin. Made it more sensitive. Made the muscles tense and relax in strange ways.
"What is this?" Kelli whispered. "What are you doing to me?"
The monster smiled down.
"I told you," it said. "I tried the easy way."
Kelli's crotch throbbed.
The heat spreading through her body seemed to be concentrating in that one spot. And, as heat often does, it tried to rise.
And it took her hips with it.
It didn't bother asking her brain's permission.
"Stop!" she gasped, as black claws erupted from her fingertips. "Make it stop!"
The monster tilted her head again. "Why?" it asked. "What can you offer me?"
"I-I-I-"
Kelli tries to push the bulge in her shorts back in. Tries. Instead, her new claws wrap around it. The claws make little holes in her pants.
Which gives her new cock just enough wriggle room to burst through, and thrust proudly into the cold night air.
The monster slides its hips down, and bends over, almost in half, to flick its tongue out. It wraps around the head of Kelli's cock, makes sends shivers up her spine.
Then it takes the cock into its warm mouth.
Then its voice, in Kelli's head, says, "Wouldn't you rather be...the perfect organism?"
Kelli's cock bucked into the creature's mouth, even as her body continued to change. Thinner in some places. Thicker in others.
The voices in her head were stronger. It wasn't just the monster - the alien - in front of her. It was the other aliens. Farther away. Like music playing a few doors down.
Except-
Except it was more like an orchestra.
One that would soon play so loudly you wouldn't be able to hear yourself think.
"Get out of my head!" Kelli gasped.
The alien didn't answer. It just kept working. Kelli tried to push it away, tried to kick it off, but nothing worked.
Until pleasure rippled through her like a tidal wave.
She gasped, and twitched, and she spurted into the creature's mouth.
It - she - raised her head, smiled a green-dripping smile, and thought, Was it good for you?
K'lli raised her head, and looked down at her new body. Her massive, heaving breasts, her twitching tail, and her cock.
Which was still hard.
Yes, she thinks back at V'nl, Yes it was.

This particular branch starts with the options here
The red and blue of the fire truck's sirens fought the faint green light of the crashed spaceship.
The firefighters inside peered out the window at the cloud of mist that spilled out of it like a toxic wave.
Some the trees and plants nearest to the crashsite were already darkened. A birch's bark was already ribbed, and the leaves and branches were shot through with green light.
Some people were on the ground, writhing as their chests and cocks swelled.
Fire Lieutenant McCoy grit his teeth, and told his men to double-check the seals on their hazmat gear.
Fiero was the only one to say, "But the police haven't secured the scene! In fact, they're not even here!"
And McCoy snapped back, "Doesn't matter. We're fire and rescue. So we rescue."
Dylan asked, "But what if those things are hostile?"
"We don't have any evidence of that. But if you need a security blanket, take a fire axe, a Halligan tool, something."
Dylan nodded. Reluctantly.
"Any more questions from the class? No? Then let's move."
When they entered the cloud, and had to fall back on their low-vis training. They didn't have a fire hose to hang onto, so McCoy used the radio to keep them in line, until they reached the spot where the civilians had been.
Past tense.
The spot was empty.
The fog had thickened in their absence, so they couldn't see anything else. Instinct made them bunch up.
Fear made them clutch their tools a little tighter.
"Alright," McCoy said. "We need to circle this thing, and find any victims."
"Or the aliens," Fiero muttered.
McCoy didn't hear him. Apparently. "Brooks, Chandler, you follow us with the truck. Use the tracking system. Try to stay close to where we are, but do not enter the cloud. Got it?"
"Yes, sir!"
"Good. Let's-"
Dylan's voice wobbled. "Sir?"
McCoy turned around.
Some of the aliens had emerged from the light green smoke.
They didn't look friendly.
Or, perhaps, they looked a little too friendly.
Especially when they started walking toward the firefighters.
Romilda pulled back the tent flap and looked into the darkness.
Nothing. Silence. Just wisps of food, drifting in the moonlight. Just empty paths, and trees, and bushes.
Like the one they were hiding behind.
"What is it?" Remy said, behind her.
She let the flap fall, and looked over her shoulder. Her boyfriend leaned on one elbow, but he hadn't gotten up.
She shrugged. "I don't know." She scratched her arm. When was the last time she got a hit?
Too long.
Not long enough.
"It's...probably nothing. Let's go back to sleep."
She crawled over, kissed him on the cheek, and wriggled back into her sleeping bag.
And he didn't lie down. He just sat there and watched.
...He was going to do it wasn't he?
When you didn't have a permanent roof over your head, paranoia was a survival trait.
So was having something long, hard, and easily concealed.
When she heard the rustle, she closed her eyes, and called herself an idiot. Then she rolled over and said, Remy, you don't have to-
He crawled to the flap and pulled it back. If you say their something out there , the might be something out there. He paused. Or someone.
Rumi shivered. And not just because of the temperature. "...Be safe, okay?"
Remy teeth flashed in the dark. "Always am."
And then her knight in ragged hoodie was gone.
Roomie laid down, and tried to relax. He was going to look around, and find nothing. And then he'd come back, and she'd feel half ashamed, half happy. And eventually they'd both go to sleep.
...So why was her skin still crawling?
Screw this.
She grabbed the flashlight, and headed outside.
Nothing but the night. She couldn't even see Remy.
Something rustled.
She spun around with her heart in her throat.
Still nothing. Probably a raccoon.
There had been that report about that crash, but that was river park. That was miles away.
Something bumped into her foot.
After she came back to work, she turned on the flashlight, frowned, smacked it a few times, and then pointed it at...
She blinked.
...a large egg?
She looked around. No hidden cameras. Of course, by definition hidden cameras wouldn't be visible.
She did what any logical person would do in such a situation, and kicked the egg.
It rolled across the grass.
When she picks it up, she turned it back and forth. The strange green patterns went
all the
way
around.
If there had been anyone there to see, they might have been somewhat concerned by the way she just stared at the egg for several minutes. Perhaps they would have been unsettled by the glitter in her eyes.
Or the way she said, "Yes."
Or when she reached for her waistband.
McCoy made a mistake.
He should've been smart. Should've waited for the cops, instead of trying to be the hero.
Now he got to watch the black..things circle his men like sharks circling a raft in a cartoon.
Except it wasn't the least bit funny.
Where were those cops, anyway?
Out loud, he said, "No aggression."
Someone said, "They seem pretty aggressive to me, boss."
"Easy. We head back to the truck. No sudden movements."
"And what if they follow us?"
"We'll burn that bridge when we come to it. Start moving on three. One, two, three, go!"
They shuffled toward the truck.
McCoy half expected somebody to break.
And he should have seen it would be the probie.
Fiero crouched, screamed something inarticulate, and darted for the nearest creature.
Which didn't move, didn't flinch, didn't run away.
It was hard to tell in all the mist, but McCoy was pretty certain she was smiling.
His heart hit the deck. "Fiero, don't-"
Fiero swung with all his might. Really put his back into it.
McCoy knew the kid had played college ball. First string. Whenever they practiced softball, and Fiero got a bit, he always sent the ball out past the fence.
So it was a bit surprising to see the alien lash out, grab the tool with one hand, shove it downward, and wrap the black claws of its other hand, around Fiero's throat, all in the space of a heartbeat.
The kid tried to pull his tool away, to smack at the aliens arm. It didn't even seem to notice.
Dylan went, "Mac-"
"Don't move!" McCoy snapped, to her and everyone else. "Nobody move! If we spook it..."
"If we spook it? What about us?"
"Stow it, Nero!"
The alien pulled Fiero closer. Which put it in kicking range. It didn't really seem to notice those either.
Fiero's helmet hit the ground.
Then the monster ripped off Fiero's mask, and kissed him.
Some of the crew cursed. One or two took a step forward. McCoy held out his free arm. They all froze.
The alien released Fiero, stepped back and threw him at the other firefighters.
The impact knocked a few of them over, but fear made him scramble to his feet almost instantly. He yanked his breather over his face again.
And again.
And again.
"It's-it's not working!" he shouted, from the far side of panic.
McCoy blinked. Were the straps broken? Why wouldn't i-
Even in the smoke, even in the night, he could see the back of Fiero's head getting longer. Into a smooth, rounded, dark shape.
Oh.
McCoy swallowed.
And the only thing he could think of was, They never covered this at the academy.
"Change of plans," he rasped. "We run for the truck."
Dylan asked, "What about Fiero?"
McCoy opened his mouth.
"...Guys?"
They all looked at Fiero.
"I feel...I feel funny. My hands..."
Were almost black, and had cruel claws, and got longer even as McCoy watched.
Fiero giggled.
And maybe it was the gear muffling McCoy's ears, But he could have sworn that Fiero's laugh was a little more high pitched.
"We move on three," McCoy said.
As it happened, they never made it past "two".
"Baby?" Remy called. "Baby, I didn't find anything."
He walked back toward the tent with his crowbar swinging by his side. Rommie still hadn't asked why it was called Gordon.
Rommie didn't answer.
Okay, she was probably in the tent.
Except, over by that tree...
"Rommie?"
She leaned off the tree, on the far side of the tent, and smiled at him. "Hi!"
Remi stopped dead. There was something in her voice...
He closed his eyes for a second. "Romilda, are you using?"
"No!"
"We talked about this-"
"No, it's so much better!"
Huh?
Remy came around the tent.
And stopped dead again.
And tried to keep his voice level.
"What's that?"
"Hmm?" She looked down, like she had completely forgot, and back up. "That's my egg!"
"Your egg. Okay." He passed a hand over his face. "Your egg. Where did it come from? Are you layin' eggs now?"
"Not yet!"
"Are you sure you aren't high?"
"...Pretty sure?"
"Where did it come from?"
"Space."
"Where did it come from before you got it?"
"Oh. It was by my foot."
"And why are you putting it...in you?"
Rommie pushed the egg in a little deeper. It made this funny squishing noise, and Remy's stomach felt strange, just for a second.
"Because it asked me to."
"
"It asked you." Remy's fist clenched and unclenched. "Out loud?"
She looked confused. "I... It had those pretty patterns."
He took a few steps closer. "Can you bring it out so I can see?"
"Nooo. I have to put it in. I have to put it all the way in."
A few more steps. "Can you stop? Just for a moment? Please?"
Her eyes went wide. "You want it! You want to steal it from me!"
"I don't-"
"You can't have it! Not 'til I'm done!"
She drew her hand back. One last smack-
Remy lunged for his girlfriend's vagina.
When McCoy woke up, someone - something - dragged him along the ground. He'd lost his coat and hat, and even his boots.
But he still had his mask on.
He was still wearing his mask.
He didn't know why.
His stomach flipped.
The dragger threw McCoy against something that felt hard and soft at once. Knocked the wind out of him. When he could breathe again, he looked left and right.
He saw Dylan and Nero. They'd been partially stripped, just like McCoy.
Others weren't so lucky.
One of the monsters ripped Ford's oxygen tank off his harness, and held it out of reach while another one of the creatures kept him from lunging at it. The monster tore the hose at the tank, pressed its cock to the end, and started pumping glowing green slime.
One of them let him rip his arm free, and yank the mask off. His cheeks were bulging, and he strained even harder to get away.
To run all the way to the edge of the park on a single lungful of air.
McCoy got up.
Strong hands held him down.
So he couldn't do anything but watch.
Watch as Ford finally ran out of air.
Watch as he opened his mouth.
Watch as one of the creatures rammed its dick into Ford's mouth.
And then McCoy turned his head away. Partially because he couldn't watch anymore.
Partially because he finally got it.
They're doing this on purpose. They want us to see. They're-
Something sour rose up in his throat.
-they're playing with their food.
The hands seized him again. And turned him around. So he could finally see what he was sitting against.
It was an egg.
Three dark ribs went up its sides, almost met at the top. Most of it was pale, translucent panels with faint green veins.
And it was big enough to fit a human.
The dark, silent mass of the crashed ship loomed behind it. Still pumping its verdant pollutant.
McCoy stared.
"No," he said.
He looked left, and right. They were just shoving Dylan and Nero into their own eggs. Before McCoy could run, strong hands grabbed him.
The egg broke, and the contents inside dripped out.
Remy stopped, and stared at his hands. At the green slime dripping from them.
And out of Rommie.
Who frowned down at him. "You broke it!"
It had been a minute since Remy had enough money for partying. But he did remember the drinks that glowed in the UV light.
And he'd been worried they were toxic. And someone had laughed at him. Said that was glowsticks. Said there wasn't much percentage in poisoning your customers.
Remy had pretended to laugh along, and later did a line in the bathroom.
He didn't feel much like laughing now.
First, he bent over, smeared the green across the green. Second, he straightened up, grasped Rommie by the shoulders, and looked her in the eye.
"We need to go to the hospital."
She blinked. "Do you feel sick?"
He shook her. He didn't even intend to, it just...happened. "Rommie? You're sick. Maybe there's some kind of-of-of gas leak, but you're acting funny, and we need to get out of here."
"Are you sure it's me? Your hand looks funny."
His-
His hand was-
He grabbed the flashlight from the ground, and shone it on his hand.
Squeezed his eyes shut.
And looked again.
His fingernails were still black.
And so were his fingertips.
And they looked rather pointy.
"Now," Rommie said, "I feel fine. Look."
And she grabbed Remy's right hand, and pulled it to her chest.
He tried to pull it away, but couldn't. It might as well have been nailed on. And Rommie didn't even seem to notice. She didn't even look down.
She just pushed it under her shirt, under her ratty old bra.
Was her boob... Bigger then it had been?
She reached up with her right hand, and slipped it under his shirt.
It felt nice.
She squeezed, so he squeezed. They both moaned, just a half-second out of sync.
She reached down, and into his pants.
When she fished his dick out, it dripped green. The same dark colour was on the tip, and spread down its length.
Plus, there seemed to be...ribbing?
He reached out, and took Rommie's cock. It was dark, and ribbed, all the way down.
He frowned. She frowned. That wasn't...right. But his dick was becoming ribbed, so all they had to do is wait.
In the meantime, they reached up to cup their hand around their necks, felt the ribs growing in to replace that silly useless hair. Clearly the optimal shape for a head was long. Curved. Streamlined. Smooth.
They laughed, at the sheer inadequacy of what they had been. And the beauty of what they were becoming.
They moved as perfect mirror images. Changing. Growing. Thickening. Curving. Darkening.
Until there was no difference between them but the textiles their pathetic human forms had been wearing.
Textiles they tore off with a few swipes.
Until they admired their perfect forms, glistening in the night.
One thought, "this is better than a high."
And the other - or perhaps both - thought, "so much better."
The egg was dry on the inside, oddly enough.
They let McCoy fall, and he wondered what would happen next. Several freaks jumped onto the side of the eggs, head downward.
One looked at him through the side. Maybe they'd install a placard that said "Home Sapiens, male", and have some educational facts for the alien kiddies.
McCoy looked up.
Just in time for the first alien to start spraying green goo on him. From it's cock.
He tried to shield his face, but as it pooled around his feet, he felt a faint tingle.
The second alien joined in.
By the time the third alien started, the tingle was more of a burn.
He tried to ignore the shifting sensation in his feet, and jumped for the hole. If he tried, if he strained really hard, he could just barely reach the rim.
And his fingers slipped off because of the green slime.
Soon, the green was up to his hips. Then his chest. Then it was over his head.
Shame he couldn't swim through the stuff.
In fact, it felt...heavy. Like it was weighing him down. Like trying to swim through corn syrup.
He giggled.
Glow in the dark green corn syrup.
His oxygen finally ran out.
...How were Nero and Dylan? Were they in the same state as him? With the voices of the hive whispering under his door?
Or had they just...
His claws curled around his air hose.
...let it in?
Chandler peered into the mist for the hundredth time. "We should go in."
"No," Brooks said. "Also for the hundredth time."
Chandler turned from the window. "When did HQ say back up would arrive?"
"When they can?"
"And the police?"
"When they can."
Chandler frowned. And looked at Brooks.
Or specifically his hands.
Which just kept tapping on the steering wheel.
"I'm going in."
Brooks reached across the cab, and put a hand on her shoulder. "What do you think you can do that the six of them couldn't?"
"I don't know! Let me find out! Just guide me with the tracker, and - wait!"
"I am not calling HQ again!"
"No, look at the tracker!"
The screen on the dash showed the squad's tags. Approaching the truck.
Brooks frowned. And tapped the edge of the screen. "Those vitals looking normal to you?"
Chandler didn't answer.
Brooks looked up.
He was the only one in the cab.
Chandler hit the ground, aimed her flashlight on it at the cloud, and smiled.
Part of her was a little concerned about what it happened, but they could explain that when they reunited.
Shapes approached to the edge of the cloud.
Her smile faded a little.
Those shapes seemed a lot darker than firefighter's gear. And taller.
The dark, almost black things cleared the edge. Smoke flowed off their bodies.
Chandler took a step back.
"Chandler," Brooks said.
"I- I -I-"
"Chandler, get in the truck."
"What-"
The monsters broke into a run.
"Chandler, get in the truck, now!"
Before she even finished scrambling in, he had already hit the gas. When she slammed the door, they were already moving.
Temporarily.
The fog hid a patch of green until they were right on top of it. The front wheels hit squarely. Brooks tried to turn aside, But he was pretty sure the back wheels got a good coating too.
And when the ride got a lot bumpier, he was absolutely certain.
"What is it?" Chandler asked. "What's going on!"
"They popped the tires!"
"How?"
"I don't know! Why don't you get out and ask them!?"
The fire truck ground to a halt. Brooks reached for the radio and called it in. "HQ, I would really appreciate that backup!"
HQ said they were working on it.
Chandler peered into the fog again. "Where are they?"
Brooks looked around his side. Zilch.
"They wouldn't just...give up, would they?"
A claw punched straight down into the cab. Both firefighters threw themselves against the doors. Another claw joined the first, and peeled back the roof of the cab in a screech of rending metal.
The monster that crouched on the roof was different from the others. It had a large glowing sac behind it, like an insect.
But insects were rarely filled with glowing green liquid.
Nor did they have prehensile penises.
Like the one the monster aimed at them.
They reached for the doors, but more aliens outside held it shut. Brooks looked into one's head-dome from less than a foot away.
And just before the one on the roof filled the truck's cab - and Brooks' existence - with green pleasure, he could've sworn the one outside was laughing.
Morrigan Jansson hated walking home at night.
Even when there wasn't some sort of emergency going on.
You weren't supposed to keep your head in your phone, especially at night, but she just had to know.
Problem was, nobody really knew what was going on. There were weirdos saying it was aliens, but Morrigan had seen much better pranks.
The photos and videos looked like something out of an old movie.
So she rolled her eyes, but kept scrolling. There had to be some useful informa-
And then she bumped into something large.
Something much softer than a tree.
Reflex made Morrigan say, "Sorry," step back, and look at the other guy.
The other guy was a girl.
Morrigan could tell, because of the massive boobs at eye level.
She looked up, and found a nightmare.
A nightmare that smiled down at her.
Morrigan kept backing away. Her shoes crunched on the gravel path, until she bumped into a similarly soft thing behind her.
Uh-oh.
How had they snuck up on her? They were on a gravel path!
Morrigan stepped forward, once. And darted to the side.
She didn't get very far.
They didn't even bother to take off her clothes. Not entirely. Just enough for them to gain access. Enough for her to feel the cool air dance across her skin.
Some green liquid dripped from their mouths, to the ground, past-
Well, something else dripping green.
They took a second to enjoy themselves. To watch her crouch, stunned, terrified.
Then their tails curled around her waist, and they lifted her into the air, and - carefully - slid themselves into her.
A moan escaped her lips. She wasn't sure why. Fear? Something else? Whatever it was, she tried to hold it back.
The two monsters laugh. Or so Morrigan assumed.
And then a voice without sound whispered, Cry out, new sister. Join your voice with ours.
Morrigan blinked. What was that?
One thrust into her rear, and sent her forward. The other thrust into Morrigan's front, sent her backwards. They didn't give her a second to rest, under that assault. They filled her more than she ever dreamed, more than she thought possible.
And then the tingling crawled up her spine.
She didn't say anything.
Not out loud.
Some part of her moans, Yes...yesss... A small part.
But it was growing.
And the monsters heard it.
More...please...
Something strange happened, where their cruel claws grasped her. She couldn't feel them anymore.
She looked down. Her new night vision made it was easy to see the way the alien's skin sort of...melted into her sides.
Or maybe she melted into it.
Fangs tore their way free from her gums. The twins laughed, but something deeper lurked underneath. Something happy. Anticipation, maybe.
And then things got very complicated for Morrigan.
For as long as she existed as a separate entity.
Which wasn't very.
The creature stretched.
Its three heads rested upon long necks, necessary to give each room. Three pairs of breasts trailed their way down its front, above the dual cocks. The tail that snaked out of its wide rear was tipped with a phallic head that dripped green onto the grass.
All in all, a stunning package. For various reasons.
They bought their arms down, and used all three pairs to cup their breasts.
What shall we call ourselves?
Shiva? Cerberus?
A moment of thought.
Perhaps...Hydra?
The name resonated through them, through the hivemind. And it sent back approval.
The three heads smiled.
Hydra it was.

THE SEXY FORMER FIREFIGHTERS WILL RETURN
Also, in the original RP, the fire truck turned into a xenomorph truck. I changed it because it didn't fit the lore.
Xenos can do a lot of things for Sexy Plot Reasons™, but I've consistently held that they destroy artificial things, not corrupt them.
But they don't need to transform the truck for it to be useful...
Time for the boys in black and blue.
The police station was pure chaos.
It was understandable, of course.
The graveyard shift in Villeton was generally pretty quiet. There were rumors that Shannon in dispatch was brushing up on her Spanish, but no one had ever caught her.
Still, the guardians of law and order didn't exactly have time to appreciate the irony.
Except one.
Who was starting to really regret that he quit smoking.
"Yes, ma'am. No ma'am. We're doing everything we can, ma'am."
Someone knocked on his open door. Just below where it said CAPTAIN CARNELL.
Carnell didn't look up. He just held up a finger. "We're doing everything we can, ma'am. Yes, we'll keep you surprised if any developments. I will, ma'am. Yes, good night."
He hung up with the exact manner of someone who was trying not to slam it, and didn't let go right away.
Kaida could almost hear the plastic creaking from across the room.
Carnell let go of the phone, collapsed into his chair, and squeezed the bridge of his nose.
Kaida asked, "The mayor?"
"Who else?" He sighed. "Did you vote for her?"
Kaida smiled. "I plead the fifth, chief."
"Smart." He sat forward, opened his eyes. "What's up?"
"New reports. Outskirts of Smithville."
Carnell said something he definitely could not have used on the phone to the mayor, then, "We don't have the manpower for this. If we're really, really lucky, these things are just ergot poisoning."
"Also, coffee. "
"What?"
Kaida bought her left hand into view, walked up to Carnell's desk, and put the mug down.
"You're a lifesaver," he muttered. "Remind me to nominate you for promotion."
"For bringing you coffee? "
"For still being here. With-" He waved a hand at the bullpen. "I think that counts as conspicuous gallantry. I know your shift ended two hours ago."
"Yeah, but this way, me and Carr get overtime." She walked to the doorway, and paused with one hand on the doorframe.
"Something wrong?"
"Chief...what happens if we can't get this under control?"
Carnell leaned back in his chair and looked at the ceiling. "Then we get a state of emergency, and the Guard pays us a visit, and I need to start looking for cardboard boxes."
He looked at Kaida. "Maybe I'll buy a boat."
Shouts outside.
Kaida turned around. Two cops were just coming through the front doors. One had his arm over the other's shoulder. His other hand hung limp at his side.
Kaida and Carnell looked at each other.
Then they hurried into the bullpen.
The station's holding cells weren't high demand environments on their best day.
This was far from their best day.
The cop guarding the tombs left a while ago, and never came back.
Marcus sat in a corner of the cell with his head in his hands, and stared at the floor, and knew that it wasn't his fault.
He panicked okay? Anyone could panic! Anyone at all! He would have come back to the accident, eventually.
"I just," he muttered, "I just made one little mistake..."
Was this going to be the rest of his life? A little box?
The only part of his situation that wasn't completely horrible was the fact that he had secured a spot under the AC vent. Air blew on the back of his neck and cooled his fevered mind.
Something creaked.
Marcus was the only one who noticed. The only one who looked around.
And then up.
Just in time to dodge the strange dark egg that fell down from the vent.
Almost.
It landed squarely on his back, and splattered into green goo much like, well, an egg.
But if you hit with a normal egg you didn't gasp, "What is- hey! Ow! Get it off!"
He tried to reach for his back but couldn't quite make it before the green liquid started steaming.
And the skin and muscles of his back started to twitch.
"Help me!" he cried. "Somebody help me!"
The other prisoners cringed away from him. Some of them turned to the bars, and called for help.
But the cops had their own problems.
"Lopez," Carnell barked. ”What happened?”
Lopez helped his partner to one of the chairs in the lobby, helped by several pairs of willing hands.
"Not sure Chief," he grunted. "We were trying to help some people evacuate, when one of those things came out of nowhere and tagged Cav. Musta been poisoned or something."
Someone called kept the first aid kit!
Kaida leaned closer to Carnell, and whispered, "Boss-"
And he whispered back, "Yeah, I know. Is there any place we can...contain the situation?"
Kaida opened her mouth.
And Cavanaugh moaned.
"Easy, Werner, easy!" Lopez said. "You took a pretty bad hit out there!"
Cavanaugh, pale and clammy, struggled to sit up, . Several cops held him down. He muttered something.
Lopez bent over. "What is it?"
And his partner grabbed Lopez by the collar, and opened his eyes wide.
His eyes were almost black. Completely black.
Besides the glowing green pupils.
"Run," he rasped.
His wounded arm twitched. He gasped, grabbed it with his good arm, and squeezed it, even as green fluid started leaking through his fingers.
Lopez looked around. "Somebody help him! Why are you so just standing there!"
Nobody looked at him.
They were all staring at Cavanaugh.
Lopez blinked the nascent tears out of his eyes, and slowly, reluctantly looked at his partner.
Cavanaughs arm was much larger. And darker. And pointier.
And it wasn't alone.
Cav kept shaking his head like a dog trying to shoo off a fly. He had his teeth bared, and every time he shook they looked a little darker, a little sharper.
He suddenly toppled off the chair to the floor on one knee. His good arm held him up, but his wounded arm wasn't visible.
Lopez knelt next to his partner, heedless of the other cops' warnings. "Cav? He reached out. Talk to me, man-"
And Cavanaugh's wounded arm shot out, and grabbed Lopez by the throat.
Cavanaugh looked up, and licked his full lips.
When he stood up, he carried Lopez with him effortlessly. And it took a lot of standing. His uniform pants split over his massive thighs, and revealed dark, organic looking flesh.
And it wasn't the only thing straining.
His uniform shirt's buttons finally gave up the ghost, and popped off to reveal Cavanaugh's massive breasts. The monster grabbed the remains of his shirt with the non-wounded hand and tore it off entirely, with the approximate effort one would use to lift a napkin from table.
"Chief!" someone called. "Chief!"
Carnell closed his eyes for a second, as if he was in pain.
Then he turned to Kaida, and said, "Hofferson?"
She swallowed. "Chief?"
He looked her in the eye.
And then he looked at her right hip.
She swallowed again, and drew her gun, for the first time on the job. Several of the other cops followed suit.
Kaida asked, "A-are you sure about this chief?"
Carnell's eyes answered her. And out loud, he said "open fire!"
The results were surprising.
Marcus' back twitched. And rippled.
And started to protrude.
The skin on his back poked out into a series of tube like structures. Play darkened as they went, and began to puff some kind of green gas or powder or spores into the air.
The prisoners weren't exactly highly concerned with the details.
The darkening skin spread until it covered his whole back. Which was starting to look more...ribbed than it had. The bare parts of his arms were starting to look the same.
Marcus groaned.
Even his groans sounded different. More like moans, really.
His legs extended, and burst through his pants and shoes. Marcus groaned again, and squeezed his head.
And there was rather more of it.
His tail shot out, and rapidly extended. The tip dripped with green, but it didn't attack his cell mates.
It attacked his clothes.
As the last scraps of cloth fell to the floor, Marcus' breathing slowed, and stabilized.
And then stopped entirely.
He put his hands on the bench, braced, and slowly rose to her 7-foot height.
There was a long, frozen moment. They looked at it. She looked at them.
The thing that had been Marcus raised its hand, examined it languidly, smiled, then let it fall, and surveyed its cellmates much like a mouse would look at a helpless, undefended piece of cheese.
"Well,' it said. "No soap, no shower, but I think I can make do."
And it sauntered toward them.
The prisoners yelled even harder. Some of them even attacked. Their blows bounced off its rubbery skin, and it tossed them off with ease.
Nothing they did mattered. Nothing changed what was about to happen. The guards wouldn't come.
But, eventually, the prisoners did.
Someone had put a notice on the bulletin board for a lost dog named Midnight.
The bullets tore it to shreds.
The cops aimed for the creature's chest, of course. Not only was it in line with their training, but it also tended to draw the eye.
And perhaps one or two of them thought it might be a weak point.
A notice of a community barbeque, two weeks away. Gone, just like the chances it ever happened.
Other cops aimed at the head. Wasn't standard doctrine, but as it stretched and elongated like some sick kind of balloon, perhaps it drew their attention.
A round ricocheted off something, and smashed the display case for the station softball trophy. It was from 2 years prior, and they had been hoping to get the title back from the fire department.
Not much chance of that anymore.
One enterprising officer even aimed for the massive - and getting massiver - ribbed organ that poked out of the alien's crotch.
This accomplished precisely nothing, unless you count splattering green slime from the tip onto the notices behind it.
Carney said something. The cops didn't hear him. He waved his arms. Kelly saw him first, took her finger off the trigger, and the cessation of hostilities spread out from her like a wave.
And then things went quiet.
Unless you counted the ringing in their ears.
The creature that had been Cavanaugh looked at them all. Presumably. "Is that it? Are you finished?"
Carnell surveyed the situation and frowned. Not a scratch on it.
He glanced at the end of the monster's arm.
There was a scratch or two on Lopez. Didn't look fatal. The thing that had been Cavanaugh held its arm out straight with the approximate effort a normal person would use to lift a pencil.
It had protected him.
...Maybe there was still a little Cavanagh in there.
The thing sighed. "Look at you. like children. Mewling children, throwing a tantrum because you don't want to eat your vegetables."
The cops didn't respond. Unless one included the ones who grimly reloaded.
"Law and order." It snorted. "Rules and strictures for those without our-"
It ran a claw up its body.
"-unity."
"What do you want?" someone called. Beaufort, maybe.
It put a hand to its sizable chest. "Me? Let's stick with the classics. Take me to your leader."
Carnell swallowed. "I'm right here."
The monster spun around as if she hadn't noticed him. When she said "Chief! There you are!" she sounded almost - almost - like Cavanaugh.
Carnell stepped forward. Looked the thing up and down once. Started walking around it, like a man examining a car in the dealers lot.
But he was pretty sure kicking the tires wouldn't go well.
He'd had a cat once. If you walked into the room with it it would turn its head curiously to track you. With an impression of complete and utter near-indifference to your continued existence.
Carnell shivered, and stopped.
The bulletin board was behind him. Which meant the cops were behind the creature and its whisking tail.
Some, at the back, slipped out. In the direction of -
The armory.
Good thinking.
Carnell looked past the creature. Locked eyes with Hofferson.
And then jerked his gaze in the same direction the other cops had gone.
She didn't get it, at first. Then she glanced over her shoulder, looked back at Carnell, her eyes went wide, and she shook her head.
Carnell frowned.
She shook her head again with a little less energy. Until finally she stopped. Her shoulders slumped.
And she quietly joined the low-key exits.
But not without stopping in the doorway to take one last look over her shoulder.
Good. That was good.
Carnell squared his shoulders, and looked up at the thing's face. Which was nearly scraping the acoustic tiles. Firmly: "No thanks."
It tilted its head. "Why not?"
Something bubbled up in his chest. Something hot and angry.
"I already know who I am." he snarled. "I already know what I am. Might not be the easiest job, especially these days, but it's honest work. So what-"
He pointed.
"-are you? Just another black piece on the board? Another cog in the machine? Same as all the other freaks out there that are tearing this town apart?"
He stepped forward, and snorted with every bit of disdain he could muster. "Gotta tell ya, from where I'm standing? That don't seem like a real good offer."
It actually had to think about that. Scratched its head and everything.
And then it smiled.
"Me?"
It leaned closer to it's once and former chief, and whispered, "I'm the distraction."
And that was precisely when the lights went out.
The emergency lights in the hall came on.
They were green.
...Unfortunate.
Officer Kaida Hofferson raised her Glock, and pointed it at the door. It was locked, but there was a frosted window.
Which meant she could see the flashes on the other side. Hear the screams, the gunfire. Once something green splattered on the far side, made her jump.
Behind her, Wyatt and Hoshi frantically tried to get the armory door open. She could hear them arguing.
Her sights wobbled a little.
...Her hands were shaking.
Was it fatigue? Or was it fear?
Who wouldn't be scared? With those things out there?
Her gun wobbled a little more.
Would the door even stop them?
"Kai."
Bullets bounced off. Maybe they could rip right through.
"Kai!"
Maybe they'd break the door down, and flood into the hallway in a wave of darkness and green like those dreams where you can't run away fast enough-
Something touched her shoulder. She nearly hit the roof, and snapped her head to her left-
It was Deon.
He was squeezing her shoulder. With his right hand, because of course he was ambidextrous.
"Kai?"
"...Yeah?"
"Breathe."
Right. That thing she needed to do.
She took a deep breath. The shaking - didn't stop, exactly, but there was less of it.
"Better?"
She nodded.
"Good," he said, and went back to pointing his gun at the door.
"Carr!" Wyatt called. "This green crap keeps melting through the gloves! Even double gloves!"
The other two cops couldn't see Deon roll his eyes. "Then use your pens. Or batons. Nine-mil if you have to."
Hoshi swallowed. "Right," he said.
Kaida murmured, "Ever seen anything like this?"
"What," Deon said, "over there?"
"Yeah," Kai said. "In 'the sandbox'."
Deon snorted, and semi-shrugged. "Nah. Never met any sex monsters. Unless you count what happens to most dudes around...four months away from a woman."
This time, Kai snorted.
Deon smiled.
"Course, back then we had night vision."
And then his eyes went someplace far away.
"There were...there were some nights. When we were just sitting there. Watching the dark. And you have to wonder...if there's a bullet out there with your name on it."
Kai wasn't smiling anymore.
"Had a battle buddy. Grunberg. We made a promise. If the enemy got one of us, the other would take care of him."
"Take care of...?"
Deon gave her a look.
...Oh. Take care of.
"We could get away with saying it was friendly fire. Probably. But that wasn't the point. We knew what those animals did if they had you."
Kai swallowed. "...And you're thinking about this because...?"
He gave her another look.
"Oh."
He didn't look away. Why didn't he-
"...Oh."
"Yeah."
He didn't ask the question.
He didn't need to.
And she didn't answer.
She just held out her left fist.
He bumped it with his right.
...He wouldn't be the first cop she shot that night.
"Sarge?"
"Yo."
"Code's not working."
Deon frowned, lowered his gun, and joined the other two cops. Wyatt stepped aside, and Deon walked past her.
"You used the area code, right?"
"Oh, Triple-Five, that's right."
And said, "Eyes front, soldier."
Kaida snapped her head forward. And blushed.
Maybe the flashing green lights would hide her blush.
Something hit the door. Deon said something he definitely didn't learn in basic. unless it was from the drill Sergeant.
And Kaida asked, "What's wrong?"
"Take a look," Hoshi growled, and stepped back.
So Kaida could see the broken wires behind the keypad.
And the world tilted a little, under her feet.
"What-I- don't understand. What does this mean?"
And, for a second, it looked like Deon's shoulders slumped.
And then his back was straight again.
Must've been the light.
"It means we split up," he said. "Wyatt, Hoshi, take the side door, head outside. Check the patrol car trunks for-"
Hoshi was already nodding. "-heavy artillery. Got it. C'mon, Reyna."
As he and Hoshi vanished, Deon said, "Hofferson?"
"Dee?"
"You're with me."
"Okay. And we're...?"
He started walking. Kaida followed.
"We're going to Dispatch. Shannon needs to tell everyone on the streets to link up at an alternate rally point."
"Alternate - We're abandoning the station?"
"Yes."
"No!"
Deon stopped, turned around, and grabbed her by the shoulders. "Kai, look at me."
She looked at him.
The green lights flashed off his shaved head, his brown skin, his goatee.
She'd never seen him look so serious.
"We've got four guns," he said. "Five if Shannon can shoot. And those things have a whole station full of cops and prisoners. Even if the stick is big enough, we don't have enough of them."
"So," Kaida said, with a certain amount of bitterness, "we're running away."
"...Call it what you like." Dee let go of her, and resumed walking towards Dispatch.
Kaida stewed for two more corners, then asked, "What happened to your last partner?"
"Transfer."
"No, not Ansel. I mean, overseas."
"...Funny story. Funny strange, not funny, funny. Turned out there wasn't a bullet with his name on it."
His voice got a little rougher.
"Turned out it was buckshot. His."
Kaida didn't know what to say.
"We're here," Deon said.
He knocked on the door that said DISPATCH. "Shannon, it's Carr. We're coming in!"
The door wasn't locked. Deon opened the door, with his gun up-
And froze.
"Well," he said, in a tight voice. "Looks like it's four guns after all."
The Dispatch room for the station was small, and only had one person manning it at this time of night. Shannon always insisted that it was "womanning", with a smile.
And everyone would laugh along.
Her chair was knocked over. Papers were scattered.
Which was of somewhat less concern than the large, pulsating-green egg in the middle of the room.
"How-" Kaida said. "Why-?"
"Decapitation strike," Deon said. He didn't holster his gun. Finger off the trigger, of course. "We can't call in, or out. Can't coordinate an effective response."
He walked forward.
"Deon? Wh- what are you doing?"
He pressed the muzzle of his Glock to the egg. "Decapitating right back."
"What?"
"They don't need eggs, usually. Means this is something special."
"But what if Shannon's still in there? Somewhere?"
"...Then she'll thank us."
The world tilted again. Deon was going to-
He couldn't-
But-
"Wait!"
Deon paused. And, finally, turned his head. "Wait for what?"
"...What if it's a trap?"
"A trap?"
"Yes!" Kaida stepped a little closer to him. "They're-they're sneaky. Have you noticed? They're sneaky. They get in our heads. So shooting it-"
"-Might be exactly what they want. Might be a tripwire."
"Yeah!"
It was thin, it was real thin, but-
Deon sighed.
And stepped back.
And holstered his gun, hard.
He took one last look at the egg, then walked past it to the console. Started pressing buttons.
"Makes sense," he muttered. "Makes a lot of sense. They cut the wires on the armory keypad, and put it back on so we'd waste time."
"And then they sprayed the green stuff, so we'd waste even more."
"That's right. You know how to use this thing?"
Kaida walked closer. Stood about a yard away from the egg. Hopefully, that green glow wasn't radioactive or something.
"That's a bit above my pay grade."
Deon didn't turn around. "Don't touch it."
"I'm not-" Kaida looked down at her hand. Then pulled it back. "A-any luck?"
"No." Deon straightened up. "Shame there's no blinking red button."
Kaida looked at the screens behind him. "At least Wyatt and Hoshi got outside safe."
On one of the screens, the other two cops had made the parking lot. The well-lit, open parking lot.
"Hard for any of the freaks to sneak up on them," Deon said. "Course, means they're exposed too. These guys don't use guns, right?"
"Not so far."
"Goo-"
A hissing noise.
Both cops whirled, and brought their guns up.
The egg was opening.
It wasn't quite dawn when the fire truck arrived at the reservoir, fed its hose into the water, and started pumping.
The only security guard was a single man. Castillo was a retired cop, who had only taken the job to get him out of the house.
Fishing had seemed like a cliche.
And when he saw the mysterious people in strange costumes pumping a glowing green liquid water, the rod and reel seemed a whole lot more appealing.
He ducked below the window, and whispered urgently into his landline.
"No, I don't know what they're pumping! I don't know who they are! They just showed up in this fire truck!"
He listened.
"I tried! All the lines were busy! I couldn't even get through to the actual dispatch!"
He listened.
"No, I don't-i don't think they saw me. I'll check..."
He grabbed the edge of the table, tried to ignore the jackhammer in his chest, and carefully - very carefully - peeked out of the window.
At nothing.
"They're... They're gone. It's just the truck."
He listened.
He heard nothing.
"Hello? Did you hear me?"
And then he saw something new, through the window. In the lights outside.
A few feet of cable, swinging in the breeze.
He stared at the cut phone wire for a long moment. His jaw fell open.
And then he reached for his cell phone.
The signal out there was always terrible, so he always held it up for better reception.
And then a dark, inhuman hand reached down from the darkness of his security shack, and plucked it away.
And Castillo thought, ...I really shoulda gone fishing.
Kaida and Deon made eye contact with each other, and broke for the door.
Which didn't open. Even when both cops put their back into it.
Kaida pointed her gun at the frosted window, but Carr pulled her arm down.
"What are you-"
"We need to get out!"
"And that glass is bulletproof! Unless you got a Barrett in your back pocket!"
Kai wasn't sure what that was, but she shook her head. "Can we shoot the lock out? ""
"They thought of that too." Deon looked at the glass. "And I don't think that's the real problem."
Kai looked too.
And something dark and fast moved on the other side.
The egg spluttered. Green drops landed on the floor.
Kaida and Deon turned around.
The flaps on the top of the egg folded back, and released a haze of green tinted smoke.
"Stay behind me," Deon said. Kaida nodded.
A cruel claw grasped the edge of the gigantic, green-pulsating egg. Then another, and another.
The fourth one punched right through the side of the egg, grabbed the edges of the cut, and all four arms ripped the egg open.
Dull green fluid spilled into the floor, and lapped around the cops' feet. Kai flinched, but Deon kept his eyes on the prize.
Though he wouldn't use that word.
The thing that climbed out was tall, even by alien standards. Tall though for it's elaborate crest to scrape the acoustic tiles.
But that wasn't its most notable feature.
Nor was it the two tails with spikes down their length that swayed behind it.
Nor the large pair of breasts that proudly sat on her chest, or the slightly smaller pair - relatively speaking - beneath.
No, her most visible feature was the massive twin cocks that jutted from her crotch. Each one was as long as an arm, and faded to green at the head.
She let them soak it in. Every inch of her.
And, more importantly, how absolutely screwed they clearly were.
Greetings, she thought. Both cops flinched.
Carr said, "Hello, Shannon."
It was a good act. Without her enhanced senses, she wouldn't have noticed that slight break in his voice.
Deon, she drawled. I really must thank you for refraining. And you, Hofferson, for restraining him.
He said, "So you're still in there?"
...In a sense. She ran her lower claws over the swells of her breasts, lingered on the green-tinged three-way flaps where her nipples would be. There's certain things I always admired about you.
"Yeah, I remember."
She laughed down the mind-link. Oh, Carr! Not the flirting! That was mere-
She sent disgust-contempt.
- human attraction. No, I refer to your dedication. You've always been by the book. A good soldier.
Something green flashed in her hood, where her eyes would've been.
Assuming she had four.
That, I can work with.
Carr's face tightened, but he said nothing.
She looked at the girl. And you.
Hofferson flinched.
You're young. Inexperienced. Not...particularly good at anything.
The girl didn't know if she wanted to complain, or say thanks.
But that also means you're flexible. Quite suitable for... She ran her tongue across her lips. ...molding.
The girl shivered. Yes, good.
"Hey," Carr snapped. "Just give us the pitch already."
As you wish. She bowed her head. I offer you a choice. You may walk out that door at any time.
The girl swallowed. "But...?"
But only one of you.
Castillo's little shack was cold, and poorly insulated, and the wind whistled past so loud that he couldn't even nap.
There were two benefits; it kept the rain off, and the view when he stepped outside to drink his coffee.
He'd been thinking about getting into watercolours.
The thing that climbed down from Castillo's ceiling certainly wasn't a perk.
It moved like a snake uncoiling from its latest unlucky prey. Looked like one, too.
If you ignored the chest.
And the glowing green...thing behind her. Like a tail, or something a big had.
How did she sneak that in here?
Finally, it reached the ground. Its lower claws touched down, the tail whisked behind it, and it settled into a crouch.
Which still left it taller than Castillo.
He took a step back.
The monster took a step forward.
Castillo took a step back.
And ran into something soft.
Two somethings.
Around his head level.
Before he could turn around, before he could do everything but flinch, two strong hands grabbed him. Something coiled around his waist, and pulled him deeper.
And then something else pressed into his back.
Something lower.
The first monster kept coming. It still had his phone. Which it held out, close enough to reach out and grab.
...if he could move his arms.
It wiggled his phone in front of him, studied his face, and smiled.
Why...Why is it teasing me?
Then it let the phone drop. Castillo heard the crack, but he couldn't look away, as the monster leaned in closer.
And smiled.
It didn't have any eyes.
"Well," it said, "looks like we get to have some fun after all."
Hofferson and Carr looked at each other. Then Kaida said, "Only one?"
Yes.
"We have to choose?"
Yes.
Carr said, "And what if we don't?"
You both walk out. Or, rather, crawl. Perhaps scurry. Or stalk.
"We get it."
Talk amongst yourselves. And she turned her back to them.
"No."
She turned back to them. What?
Hofferson glared. "I said no. This isn't you! You're not Shannon-"
She hissed. Her tails lashed behind her. Shannon was weak. Human. You stand before a queen. She straightened. One who guides the hive. One with thousands at my command in this city alone. Even now, I lead our song!
Carr didn't seem too impressed. "If you're not Shannon, who are you?"
It came to her, in a blinding flash. The missing piece.
I...am S'r'n. And you should find yourself fortunate that I do not make you bow at my feet for your insolence. Or, perhaps, bend.
She turned to face the console.
Deon looked at the Queen's back, and turned to his partner. He kept an eye out, of course.
Not that he'd be able to do much.
"Well," he said, with a forced smile, "I think we made a good impression."
They used his belt.
When they carried Castillo down to the water, they tied his hands behind his belt with the webbing belt that came with his uniform.
He struggled, of course. And when he saw the truck, and the spreading, glowing green in the water, he struggled even harder.
As the two monsters carried him past the truck, some of their sisters at the water's edge turned away. something green and wet arced through the air.
He turned his face away, and it landed on the side of his head. It was hot.
His stomach churned. Is this-?
More hit his chest, his legs. They started to tingle. And then bu-
The splash of water was almost a relief.
So was the feeling of it on his back.
When the freaks flipped him over and lowered him beneath the surface? Not so much.
He kept struggling, until he realized there's something in front of him, behind the bubbles.
Something glowing green, in the dark, half-tainted water.
He stopped, and stared at it. and then it thrust into his mouth.
Kaida swallowed. "I'll do it"
"I didn't know you swung that way."
"No, I - oh. Hahaha. You actually know what you're doing! They're gonna need a leader."
"And how much good did the Chief do?"
"More good than I wou- Wait, what's she doing?"
The screens beyond the console flickered from various piped-in security cameras and data feeds, to pictures of the...
Kaida frowned.
...the station's parking lot?
Wyatt and Hoshi had gotten into at least one trunk. Wyatt clutched a shotgun to her chest, and kept an eye on the shadows around them.
Deon said, "Kai? Kai, look at me."
K looked at him. "Y-yeah?"
"I can't."
"What?"
Deon hung his head. "I can't lose a partner again."
The parking lot cameras didn't have sound. So Kaida couldn't hear what made Wyatt and Hoshi jump.
Just see Wyatt point her shotgun into the darkness behind the lights.
And then the perimeter lights went out.
Hoshi tried a lot harder to get the trunk open, but he couldn't. Maybe he used the wrong key. Maybe it was panic.
And the question swiftly became academic.
A glob of dark substance flew from the dark, and pinned Hoshi's hand to the trunk.
So, they had more than just the green stuff?
Adorable, really, the queen murmured. For us, the darkness is as daylight.
Her massive tail swished across her rear. It was almost hypnotizing. Almost enough to distract from the horror on the screens.
Wyatt raised her gun, and released a load of angry buckshot into the dark. She pumped, fired again. Pumped, spun around, and fired again, past Hoshi.
Was it even doing anything? Was she even hitting them?
Eventually, she ran dry, dropped the Remington, and pulled her pistol. Ran that clip dry too, turned to Hoshi, and held out a hand. Give it to me.
Hoshi looked at Wyatt, then down at his hand. His shoulders slumped. He said something.
And pulled his hand free.
And held it up.
It was hard to tell on the video, but his hand looked like it had turned black.
Castillo tried to get away, tried to grit his teeth. But strong talons gripped his head, and wrenched his mouth open, and locked him in place.
Others grabbed his pants, and yanked down, and someone drove into him.
He'd never done anything back there, but he was pretty sure the thing in him was not remotely human.
They pushed him back and forth, back and forth, and one thought echoed in his head.
I need air...right?
The Queen's claws danced across the console, and the parking lot's perimeter lights came on. She added a few more camera angles.
Just so Kaida and Deon could see the horde of monsters that had been lurking in the dark.
Their cocks, breasts, and tails all dripped green.
Many of them seemed to be smiling.
As they charged the two cops, the feed cut.
To the security camera in the bullpen. Showing the last few remaining cops, being roughly used by those things.
One lady who'd been unfortunate enough to seek refuge in the station bounced between one cock in her mouth and one in her rear.
Every time she hit the one behind, her head stretched. Every time she hit the one in front, her tail poked out a little farther.
Her hands - half-claws - were already wrapped around her new cock. Her clawed feet had already burst through her shoes.
The queen turned around, leaned against the console, and folded her arms. All of them.
Do you see? It's hopeless. There's no solace, no shelter. It waved an arm at the screens. By this time tomorrow, everyone in town will be...black and green.
Deon said, "So why make the offer?"
The queen smiled. It amuses me. More practically, as the first one on the planet to voluntarily join, you'd be given certain...advantanges. Even I cannot rule alone. I would do well to have a right hand man.
She paused.
So to speak.
Deon nodded. "Got it. Take me."
Something tingled in Castillo's neck. And his chest.
It took him a while to figure it out, of course. Not that it was entirely his fault.
It's not every day you grow gills.
It's not every day your lung capacity magically expands.
Along with his chest.
Especially two points.
The hands on his hips shifted their grip, on account of the expansion. The strange new muscles bunching and stretching under his skin.
And he knew, he knew he was becoming something...special.
"No!" Kaida cried. "You can't become one of those...things!"
"Sure I can. Watch."
And Deon just...walked away from her.
Okay.
Time to take care of her partner.
When she reached for her gun, her hand didn't shake at all.
Her holster was empty.
She looked down, eyes wide, and looked up, just in time to see Deon drop two guns. They splashed in the muck on the floor.
Kaida couldn't let him do that. She had to do something. She took a step forward.
She took-
She looked down. The green slime had hardened arnd darkened around her feet.
She yanked up her pants' cuffs.
Even had little tendrils sticking to her socks. She couldn't take off her shoes.
Deon arrived in front of the thing that had been Shannon. And it purred, Well met, little one.
It leaned forward. And I wonder...which pleasure will you choose?
Deon looked her up and down.
And if Kaida hadn't been looking for it, she would never have noticed how slightly his hands trembled.
He took a deep breath. "All of it. Full package."
... Excellent choice of words.
As Castillo's change progressed, he stretched his fingers and toes, just to feel the sensation of webs stretching between them.
Strange, blue-green fins traced the curves of his shoulders, and down his back.
When his tail erupted, and curled itself around his backdoor botherer, twin fins adorned the end of it.
Even his dick was becoming streamlined and smooth. Perfect for an aquatic environment.
But not limited to it.
When his hands swelled, and snapped his belt, he didn't try to go anywhere. He just grabbed the sister in front of him, and thrust her into him even harder.
There was nothing but her joy at being used.
And, of course, the thoughts of all the people she'd soon share it with.
The queen's tail wrapped around Deon's waist, and lifted him off the ground effortlessly. She dug two of her hands into his waistband, and tore his pants - and his belt - from his body in one deft swipe.
Another hand braced her against the console, and she rubs her two cocks against his front.
And then, in one swift motion, she pushed one of her shafts deep into his rear.
Deon gasped, arched his back. Kaida saw his shivers from across the room.
The queen purred, Enjoying yourself, small one?
He was too busy gasping to answer.
Kaida covered her eyes, and crouched, and turned her face away.
Her tears fell onto the green-strained floor.
"Wait," Deon said, "what are you going to do with that?"
No, I think the question is...what are you going to do with it?
What was she-
Oh.
His shaking hands reached down, grasped his half-hard cock-
And he guided the tip against the tip of the queen's second cock. The one that wasn't making green run down his legs.
He looked into her hood.
And her not-eyes glowed green. Yeeeessss...
The Queen purred again. But not just in his mind. Her vibration traveled through him, into him.
And that was just the warmup.
She started slow.
It wasn't clear if it was for his benefit, or hers. But after the first few thrusts, she sped up. He fit her better with every stroke, and drew him closer to her chest.
She even used one of her claws to splatter green from her not-nipples onto his face, and left him sputtering.
Else, she let their natural secretions rub all over his chest. The green liquid stood out on his brown skin.
And it wasn't just cosmetic.
His chest felt more sensitive. His nipples, especially. And they were, yeah, they rubbed back against her.
He didn't want to moan.
He moaned anyway.
It was already higher pitched.
Behind him, Kaida was probably covering her ears. If she peeked, she might've noticed how his legs swelled, looked darker, more ridged.
More powerful.
Deon's cries grew higher and higher, and yet, more...alien, somehow.
Kaida wished, more than anything, that she had an extra pair of hands. Maybe then she could use all four to block out the sounds.
The horrible, wet sounds.
The noise of her partner's bones cracking.
And maybe another set. One to hold her nose.
The other to cover her mouth.
Of course, if she lost her dinner all over the floor, who would notice? Or ca-
Look.
Kaida kept her eyes shut.
Look.
Kaida forced her eyes open.
The queen ran a sharp claw over Deon's head, even as it elongated into a dark phallic helmet.
She pressed down on the back, and his head tilted back.
And then she looked over his shoulder, past the tubes emerging from his back, and smiled at Kaida.
Don't you wonder?
Kaida swallowed. "W-wonder what?"
The Queen's claw wound its way around Deon's narrow waist, onto his rear. She squeezed and pulled.
Enough for Kaida to get a view of the monstrous cock pulsating in him.
Why he leaned in. Why he pretended to be into it. 'The full package', said he.
She let go. But now the pretense has become reality.
"N-no."
We are in his head. We are part of him. And so we know...it was to protect you.
Huh?
He hoped, in his heart of hearts, that being a willing collaborator would grant you some small consideration.
A spike poked out, at the end of Deon's spine.
He hoped I would be so pleased that I would refrain from letting you go - then turning your once-partner loose, to run you down as hounds would a fox.
Kaida shivered.
Deon's tail reached his calves.
Foolish, of course. Nothing could turn me aside from that course, once I had decided upon it.
The shivers didn't stop.
The queen pressed her mouth to Deon's fuller lips. Green liquid ran down the side of his face.
Deon's tail reached the floor, and the queen's tail spun him around. Which, incidentally, pulled her cocks and lips free.
And she held him up for display, much like a man holding up a freshly caught fish on a dating site.
Deon had a crest, much like the Queen's, but less elaborate. Protrusions on his forearms, like blades. His cock retracted into some sort of protected sheath even as Kaida stared, and the end of his tail was more like a club.
His body hung limp.
The queen let Kaida get a good look. Then she dropped her new...mate? Guard? Consort?
Whatever it was, he thudded to the floor, and just...laid there.
For a brief, absurd moment, Kaida was worried he was hurt.
Which seemed pretty unlikely when these things could bounce bullets.
The Queen stalked forward, until she towered over Kaida. Last chance.
Somehow, Kaida found her voice. Unsteady as it was. "No. Never."
The Queen nodded. "I thought you'd say that."
Kaida took a deep breath, closed her eyes, and waited for what would come next.
Maybe the Queen would sic Deon on Kaida.
Maybe she'd do the job herself.
Maybe she'd take those sharp claws, and that barbed tail, and-
Something hit Kaida in the back.
She flinched.
It seemed a lot straighter and harder than she expected.
She opened her eyes, and looked over her shoulder.
The door was open.
When the C's'tr slipped away from her sisters, it trailed blue-green fluid to mark its passage through the reservoir, until it vanished into the depths.
Before she did, she waved at her sisters, under a sky that was had just started to turn pink and gold.
Two of them watched her go, as others wound the hose back into the truck.
One asked, "What's downstream of here?"
The other said, "A few towns. Then the ocean."
Their aquatic sister shot out of the water, into the air, cleared the dam easily, and somersaulted into the mist below.
"...Showoff."
The first one smiled.
They turned around to face their sisters, and they all head for the truck. One said, Now what?
Another said, Breakfast.
Kaida stared at the door. Then her head whipped around, toward the queen.
Her mouth moved.
The queen waited.
"Just like that?"
Just like that.
"You won't hunt me down?"
I won't hunt you down.
"...Why?"
Because I gave my word. And-
The queen smiled, and bent over. Kaida leaned back, as far as she could.
And S'r'n whispered, "We are so far beyond you now. All of you. All of us. We'll make this world into something you can't even imagine."
She straightened up, reached out, and patted Kaida on the head.
"And you...are just so small."
Kaida plunged out the door, into a nightmare. A nightmare of dark curves and green lights.
Somehow, she found a car, and a key. She slid behind the wheel, and looked over her shoulder, at the gate...
Which quietly slid open.
She smiled, grimly.
One last little joke from the queen.
When she peeled out the gate, mashed the pedal to the floor, and sent her Crown Vic roaring into the night, she wasn't going anywhere in particular.
Just...away.
The morning light shone through Kaida's eyelids. She winced, groaned, and opened her eyes.
She was in her car. Somewhere off the highway. Far out of town.
Out of town.
For a second, she saw it again. The traffic jam on the bridge. The fires, the hysteria.
The people looking to the only cop on the scene for help.
When the screams started.
And the gunfire.
And the moans.
She shivered.
Protect and Serve.
She looked down at the badge on her chest.
What a joke.
The really sick part? Maybe her nightmares were better than reality.
She wiped the drool from her mouth with the back of her hand. The comedown from caffeine and adrenaline was a-
Something blocked out the sun.
Kaida jumped, and reached for the gun she left behind a lotta miles and a lifetime ago.
It was a waitress. Just a waitress. The badge over her heart said "DIXIE".
Kaida frowned, and rolled down the window.
And the woman said, "Officer...are you all right?"
Kaida looked at the other woman.
And started to cry.
The dinner was classic Americana. A greasy spoon on the side of the road. The food was cheap, hot, and in large portions.
Quality was not exactly a high priority.
Kaida had finally managed to stem the flow of tears by liberal application of cheap, scratchy napkins.
Dixie sat on the next stool, and patted Kaida's back. "Y'wanna talk about it?"
Kaida laughs. Technically. "You wouldn't believe me if I told you."
"Try me," Dixie said. "Wait, no, let me guess. Boy trouble? Girl trouble? Both?"
Kaida not-laughs harder.
Even she can hear the faint edge of hysteria in her voice.
Dixie smiled. "There it is. There's the sun. Things are gonna be as right as rain. You'll see. Nightmare's over. Now, where's Tex with that coffee?"
She stood up from the stool, and looked across the counter, at the window in the kitchen door.
Kaida looked up. There was nothing in the big window between cashier and kitchen.
Something moved in the kitchen door window.
Ice ran through Kaida's veins.
No.
"Dixie," she whispered, "we need to run."
Dixie blinked. She looked at Kaida, at the kitchen door, back at Kaida. "Run from what? Forgotten coffee?"
Something big and dark bursted through the door, leapt the counter, and pounced on Dixie.
It shredded her clothes in seconds, and got to work. She reached a hand toward Kaida. A hand whose nails were already turning black. "Please..."
Kaida stared.
Kaida said, "I'm sorry."
Kaida ran for the car.
She yanked the door open, jumped in, turned the key, and...nothing happened.
How-
Why-
She turned the key a few more times.
The car still didn't start.
Something pulled up in the next slot.
Kaida looked up.
It was a fire engine.
The "firefighter" in the cab leaned out the window.
It was one of the aliens, in a fireman's hat.
And it said "Engine trouble?"
Kaida just kept staring.
She'd thought she was full up on weird, but clearly there was a little more room in the tank.
The "firefighters" on top - also "wearing" hats - started doing something. With the hose.
"By the way," said the driver, "Her Excellency didn't tell us to find you. But she didn't tell us not to, either."
Kaida kept staring. Even as the firefighters finished their preparations, and pointed the hose at her car.
Then she closed her eyes.
Relaxed into her seat.
And waited.
Didn't even jump when the diner door banged open, and the three alien creatures poured out.
No point running. No point fighting.
Not anymore.
And she was tired. Very tired.
Maybe-
The green hit her car window.
She closed her eyes.
-maybe she didn't wake up at all.

Cred to gusherthexenomorph and other artists in my favs for (unconscious) inspiration.
If I do write more, it'll be about the former-Castillo's aquatic adventures downstream. Think JAWS, but with more sexy aliens.
Also, the last thought from Kaida was originally;
Some nightmares don't end with daylight. /The green hit her car window. /...Some nightmares never end at all.
Kinda sounded like AI.
I rewrote it (a few times), and added a few lines to foreshadow that motif.
Still not totally happy with it, but whatever.
References + Photobashing used for the art. But not the kind of refs I can link, if you get my drift.
