Pokémon: Darkest Taboo, Pt 45
Did a rewrite as I was not happy with what I had originally written for part 45, again it's short and not that long.
PART FORTY FIVE.
I t was midday with a clear and bright sun high in the sky as about half way along Route Twelve that led between Grass Veil and Evolution Town, camp had been broken rather swiftly with Blaze and Oni working doubly hard both feeling extremely motivated to put some distance between them and the three Wild Lopunny's they believed had abused Bunny and their Trainer. Of the three wrongly accused Pokémon they had watched from a distance waving their new friends good bye from a safe distance each of the newly evolved Lopunny's feeling excited at the prospect of their new lives.
Toph had returned to her Pokéball so she might be carried since she for one did not see the point of putting any physical effort in performing something as strenuous let alone completely mundane as walking to the next town not when she had someone to do that for her like a good little servant that he was, of course she would have to reward him especially for performing his duties while in the state he was, maybe once he was well rested she would hypnotize one of the female trainers to breed with him.
Though she would have to be very selective of who she as she could not let her Human servant procreate with just any female off the street, they had to be of exceptional breeding stock and not some vile mongrel with a poor genetic gene that would sully the strength of any offspring he would sire.
The journey was spent talking about the sort of tent they would get with some of the prize money from getting their first Gym badge that and ignoring the looks from other trainers hoping to goad them into battle, occasionally a Skate Boarder or Rollerblader would zip on by or even Cyclist all heading to Grass Veil.
It would not be until night started to seep in and the sun start to fall before they reached Evolution Town and the Pokémon Centre there in, a room was acquired just as Tophs hypnotic suggestion wore off giving Jack barely enough energy to finish brushing his teeth before crumpling up on the floor his body forcing his mind to go into sleep mode. having slept through until the next morning Jack had awoken refreshed and his strength renewed, even the stiffness in his joints had faded it was something he became aware of from the moment his eyelids flickered open and the sleep was rubbed free from corners of his eyes.
With a long stretch of his arms Jack smiled softly before throwing the covers from his body he had to admit he need that sleep, it was all pretty much a blur; he could clearly remember the long tiring walk from 'Route twelve' leading from 'Grass Veil' to 'Evolution Town' though as to why he had not felt exhausted during his journey to the Pokémon Centre bewildered him slightly until he noticed Toph the lazy Espeon curled up on the pillow right next to his head.
He could only imagine she had kept him going despite his body's state of exhaustion, sitting up right slowly so as not to disturb her lilac furred Pokémon he grabbed his Pokédex from the bed side cabinet and slid his finger along the screen that took up the entirety of the front.
The black screen slid upwards revealing a picture of his team from a several months ago, the image acted as a back ground with the icons for the Pokédex's multiple functions from mobile phone to Radio, camera and so forth it was for all intense purposes just like a Smart Phone save its primary function was for the identification and supplying of information of Pokémon for the trainer.
One look at the date just under the time made Jack groan as he realised he'd slept over twenty four hours, as if on cue his stomach growled and rumbled in complaint at not having been fed in well over a day eventually he found himself having to swing his legs around so his feet touched the floor.
Looking around he spotted his bag next to the chest of draws and got to his feet finding his legs a tad bit wobbly to start with but soon regained his equilibrium as he made his way over to the back pack and unzipped one the pouches and rooting around for an energy food bar that tasted like cardboard that or cold stodgy potato but for a trainer on the go it was at times quite convenient.
Jack had looked at the ingredient list along with the instructions on how to use the six square bar in boiling water to make a drinking beverage to help keep the body warm during the cold.
'Chololate; Skimmed Milk Powder; Coco Fat; Oat flour; Artificial Flavourings'
The wrapper was silver with black writing over top a Pokéball symbol that read from left to right 'Pokébar' followed by the typical advertising gimmick saying how its recognised by the 'Pokémon League' and used by the Regions 'Elite Four', this tended to sell the bar by more than just trainers despite how appetising the taste of it was.
Sometime you would see people hanging around cities eating a 'Pokébar' while sporting poorly trained Pokémon like the attention seeking posers they were, for those people a Pokémon was just a fashion accessory to shown off as status symbols rather than friends and battling partners.
What ticked him off them most about such people was how once the Pokémon they have is no longer fashionable they would trade them for ones that where, it was by Jacks opinion just plain wrong and unforgivable after all Pokémon where not mere objects they had feelings not to mention self-awareness.
Ripping the wrapper open he took a bite screwing up his face as he forces himself to swallow it, the chocolate they used always tasted cheap and nasty but it would keep the hunger pangs away until latter, taking another mouth full he chewed slowly while allowing his eyes to focus on the dimly lit room.
On the floor a little way from him he could see Bunny and Blaze had curled up on top of his sleeping bag both in a blissful slumber, he couldn't see Oni but he cold guess she would be wondering about somewhere knowing her that and she of all of them all was the most independent and capable of looking after herself though it didn't stop him from worrying about her.
Taking a second to swallow he shuddered despising the now mulched up chocolaty goop before unzipping another pouch for one the bottles of water, it didn't take the taste away but it did help force down the rest of the mushed up food bar.
"Note to self don't ever get Pokébar's again"
He mused to himself quietly in a hushed voice while rolling up the empty wrapper and threading it down into the empty bottle and screwing the cap back on, it was a habit he had gotten into as it made less waste to carried around until a public bin could be found in order to dispose of anything that could not be burned in a camp fire.
Even with the blinds drawn down Jack could tell it was still dark outside and with every one still asleep he didn't feel right about causing too much disturbance and waking every one up so being as quiet as he could he fished out the power lead for his Pokédex and plugged it into the power outlet to charge the device, once done he slide the screen up with his finger and connected to the Pokémon Centres Wi-Fi connection before lightly tapping his finger tip against the Pokéfox browser that took the form of a circular icon resembling a Vulpix chasing its own tail overlapping the earth. Running finger up to bookmarks he brings down a selection of sites he'd saved so he could return to, in this particular case it was one the Pokémart stores that tended to have a shop in most towns, cities and even some villages in a good number of regions thanks to their backers the Pokémon League, a number of pictures of tents appeared on the screen with some basic stats and prices underneath each one.
Scrolling down the screen with light flicks of his finger he by passed the colourful ones that where several day glow colours, they where sizable enough for his needs but he really didn't want to have a day glow Pink or even a Cyan and Yellow tent eventually he came across a few more to his taste.
Tapping on the first one to bring up more information he read quietly to himself before returning to the previous page after finding the dimensions of the Tent didn't quite fit his needs, the next one was a spherical shape with a six foot diameter which fitted his needs perfectly. From the description it was wind and heavy weather proof there was even the Pokémon League stamp of approval for trainer use, the League tended to be extremely fussy over what got to bare their symbol well all most as the Energy bar he just ate proved to be the exception to this. Though the best thing was he would have still over half of his prize money left form his first Gym Battle.
Typing in the Towns name he found there was two left available he reserved one, there was a few minutes of his Poképhone communicating with the stores web site before a conformation window popped up showing one the tents had been marked as reserved, of course he would have twenty four hours in which to go to the store and purchase it before it goes back into general sale but Jack was not to bothered about that since the Pokémon Centre was in the same town as the store was.
Now it was just a matter of waiting until morning so he could get showered, clean his teeth as his breath stank worse than a blast from a 'Stunkys' tail, he doubted the Pokébar helped much, after a few more minutes he headed back to bed and snuggled up to Toph who began to purr quite contented at his touch despite being asleep.
