Chapter 20: Confused Feelings

Jared kept touching Bright Eyes’s ball on his belt as he walked, collecting the other Pokémon in his team as he did. There was a constant reminder as he did that there was unfinished business, and he was honestly terrified of what would happen when they finally got to the Pokémon Center further down the road. There was a lot to talk about, and he didn’t know what the end result would be.

What do I want…

That was the hardest question to answer. He’d had multiple experiences with people that had fucked their Pokémon now, ranging from what happened at the Daycare to what he had seen at the Goldenrod Gym, but that was still a hard thing to get his head around. Breeders had such a stigma around them that it was impossible to think of himself being intimate with his Pokémon without thinking of how others would judge him. It was such a crime, and he had seen it, so many times, as nothing more than rape.

And yet, here he was, not just intimate with Croccy, but with his entire goddamn team. And more than that, he had one team members that was offering to take it the other way around.

How would…

Jared rubbed his head as he left the park behind, rejoining Route 36 and making his way towards the midpoint of it, where he had been told that it turned north and headed to the next city on his journey. No, there was no point asking how that would work. He already knew how it would work. Bright Eyes had been very, very clear on how that would work.

His dick twitched in his pants, and he paused, glaring down at the half-bulge.

“Fuck you.”

It didn’t go down. If anything, his cock throbbed defiantly at him as he kept walking.

He didn’t think he had that many fetishes, but the more that he thought about how Bright Eyes had threatened him with a good time, the more he realized that there were things that could be done that he had…occasionally thought about, at least. He hated to admit it, but the more that he was honest with himself, the more that he knew that his ‘breeder’ tendencies hadn’t been forced by Croccy when he’d been a Totodile. They’d started popping up long ago, back when he saw what the criminals were doing to their Pokémon and wondered how it felt to have one’s dick in there.

It had never gone further than wondering, not until Croccy had pushed it further, but…well, he couldn’t say that it was that far off.

He sighed, rubbing his forehead as he made himself keep walking. Okay, so there was a part of him that did want this. If he could admit that – and he didn’t have much choice now – then what the hell did he do? Did he resist that want, or did he give into it, or –

“Stay back!”

Jared jumped, shocked out of his ruminations just before he could run into a tree that was slightly taller than his waist. He blinked, looking back and forth for the source of the voice.

He eventually spotted it as an older man just off to the east. Past him, Jared could vaguely make out the skyline of Violet City, and he realized just where he was. No wonder things were starting to feel a little familiar.

“What’s the matter?” he asked.

“You almost ran right into that thing.”

“What, this bush?”

“Kid, I don’t know what that is, but it’s been beating the crap out of anything that came close to it for the last few days.”

“…This thing? This little thing?”

He turned back to the tree, eyebrow raised in disbelief. It seemed utterly ridiculous, but then again, so did so many things in this world. One eyebrow still raised, he took a half-step closer –

“EEP!”

Only to be forced back a step as a clustered bunch of branches and leaves nearly knocked him off his feet. He stumbled out of reach, the tree swaying from side to side as he struggled to catch his breath.

He saw a pair of eyes, briefly, and then they disappeared. Blinking, he took another half-step forward, and was forced back again. There were definitely eyes this time, too, bright enough and big enough to tell him what he was dealing with. This was a Pokémon of some sort, and it was blocking the way for…some reason.

“Okay, well, that’s something…”

Shaking his head, he reached for his belt. Croccy came as he was called, the Croconaw dancing up and down, back and forth, foot to foot as usual. Before he could start any kind of awkward ruckus, Jared cleared his throat and caught his attention.

“Croccy. Think you can give that tree a little water gun blast for me?”

“Uh, sure, but why? Practice?”

“It’s a Pokémon.”

“…”

“And I think it needs to move. It’s blocking the way.”

“So, it’s being mean?”

“Well, not mean, but it’s not thinking about anyone else.”

“Ahhhhh, gotcha gotcha.”

The big-mouthed crocodile turned around, setting his feet in the ground and stomping them into place. Jared bit off a chuckle as Croccy held his hands low and to his sides, almost like some sort of old-style gunman from the shows he used to watch. His Pokémon breathed in, chest swelling, and then spat out a powerful blast of water.

At first, it had no effect, and why should it? It was water on a grass-type, after all.

But as the seconds passed, the water blast began to shake the tree, and it reacted with a blubbering tremble. It rattled, leaning back inch by inch until –

“WOOODO!”

Until it lost its grip on the ground. The roots came free with a shower of earth and dirt, and the tree tumbled head over heels off the crossroads. The old man and a few other random travelers threw themselves to the ground to avoid the splatter, but Croccy kept up the water gun spray, pushing the other Pokémon further and further back. They advanced together, with Jared pushing his Pokémon from behind and Croccy keeping the water going.

Eventually, they cleared the tree out of the way, and he patted Croccy, giving him the signal stop blasting. The Water-type closed his mouth, and the flood came to an end.

“Woodo, Woodo.”

“Huh…so it was a Pokémon.”

It was certainly a weird one. Up close, it looked less like a tree and more like a rock that had grown leaves. That explained why the punches felt so powerful as they went by. It must have been a hell of a weird life for the Pokémon, though. Being part Rock-type meant that it would have been weak to the very water that the grass side of it needed to survive. Not a very nice life to live, if he was honest with himself.

Shaking his head in sympathy, he knelt down by the squirming thing. It was rubbing its head with its wooden hands, leaves bedraggled, and it looked more than a little dizzy.

“You okay?” Jared asked.

“Woooooo.”

“It’s fine, just dizzy,” Croccy said.

“Good, good. Does it need some help getting to the woods?”

“Do you?” Croccy asked.

It shook its head, slowly getting up. Jared helped it along anyway, giving it a few nudges along. The tree-like Pokémon waddled until it was off the path. As soon as it was among the trees again, it went stiff and still, only moving to look back at him and dare him to try and do that again.

Jared chuckled, holding up his hands in ‘surrender’ as he backed off. Soon enough, it was no different to the rest of the bushes all around it.

The old man ran up to him. Before Jared could say anything, the elder shook his hand.

“Thank you for taking care of that, young man.”

“It was just a tree.”

“It was being inconsiderate and blocking the road to Ecruteak. Hmmph. Hmmph, I say. It was dashed annoying.”

“I’m sure. Anyway, it’s done.”

“Yes, yes, quite so. And you can take this.”

“Look, you don’t –”

“Take it, boy.”

The old man pressed something into his hand before walking on, leaving him shaking his head in disbelief. He’d just wanted to get the Pokémon out of the way for his own benefit, and for its safety, too. Staying in the middle of the road would have fucked with the tree to no small amount once someone stronger came around. He didn’t…

Well, fuck, if the old man wanted to thank him, he’d take it. He looked down at his hand.

“A TM, huh? Well, that might be useful, later…”

Tucking the skill machine into his belt, he glanced back at Croccy. The Croconaw was giving him the most ridiculous bouncing eyebrows he’d seen in a while, and he rolled his eyes.

“No, not out here.”

“Awwwww.”

“Maybe, maybe later.”

“Come on. You’re making me wait longer and longer.”

“That’s because we’re getting more and more – forget I said that.”

“Ooooh, they need a turn, too?”

“I didn’t say that.”

“Let’s all have fun, then. Then we can –”

“Back in the ball!”

He all but threw the Pokéball at Croccy, and the silence that fell after the lizard Pokémon’s disappearance was as blissful as it was sudden. He looked at the ball for a moment before putting it back on his hip.

One way or another, I need to figure this out…

#

The trip to Ecruteak wasn’t as bad as he thought it would be. The rest of the journey involved a short trip up a path with a pair of twin sisters straight ahead and some other trainers just behind. The twins ended up being a bit more reasonable, willing to fight til first blow rather than until knock-out. Something about wanting their Pokémon to keep looking pretty afterward. Ann and Anne – he didn’t know which was which – made good on it, too, surrendering as soon as their Clefairy and Jigglypuff were knocked out.

Callie and Cassandra, however – the trainers between him and the city – were less…kindly. They looked at him out of the corners of their eyes as he approached the path they flanked, both of them clearly waiting for the chance to jump him and challenge him. The trainers out here were truly psychotic, in his opinion.

He ended up tossing Gobbler out and having the Drowzee use Hypnosis on the pair of them, knocking them out. It was a cheap move, but hey, it worked.

And with that, they were through to Ecruteak City. He stepped up the road and whistled.

“Now that is a tower…”

It was a massive structure that loomed over the rest of the city, shimmering in the slowly-setting sun. The whole place seemed awash with the sound of a slow-ringing bell, and the tower itself seemed to house both the bell and some source of light. He cocked his head to the side, shading his eyes to see if he could make out the source, but it glowed too brightly.

Shaking his head, he brought his eyes back down to the city proper. This was the site of the next gym battle, he knew that much. What kind of Pokémon would be put against him here, he didn’t know, but he had every reason to believe that it would still be kind of tricky. Whitney’s Miltank had been bad enough, and the fact that Croccy had won in a stamina battle still felt like something of a miracle to him, and one that he couldn’t really rely on to happen twice. If he happened to run into someone that was willing to treat the battles seriously, he would have a much harder time.

And that was if someone didn’t stumble upon what he really was. Agent or ‘Breeder’, if anyone found out what he was actually doing, then he was in trouble. Jared rubbed the back of his head, muttering to himself.

“Pokémon Center first. Get everyone rested up, and then you can figure out what you’re doing.”

Yes, that was a good plan. And it would get the Bright Eyes thing out of the way.

He followed the paths through town and found it surprisingly large compared to the first few settlements that he’d seen. Violet City, Cherrygrove City, and all the others had been…populated, yes, but other than Goldenrod, they’d been more like towns than full-on cities. This place, at least, had some things going for it. There was a theater, there were several larger chunks of houses, and there was something besides the Gym for an attraction.

He paused on the road to the Pokémon Center as he spotted a second, mostly-destroyed tower. It was just tall enough to poke over the trees, but it was all but destroyed, consumed from within by some sort of fire. The walls were blackened and there were markers all around that looked like they might have been graves.

“…Wow…”

It felt almost wrong to keep staring, so he moved on. Soon enough, he found the center and stepped inside.

Someone was coming down from the upstairs as soon as he walked through the door, and that person was carrying a technical case. They walked over to the nurse at the front desk and nodded.

“That should fix your computer system right up, nurse,” the stranger said.

“Oh, thank you. The trading system’s been out of order for so long, and –”

“No worries. All taken care of.”

“Thank you, again.”

The stranger nodded, turning around. Brown-haired and in a blue polo, he looked surprisingly professional and casual at the same time. Jared immediately took a dislike to him, and he didn’t know why.

As the stranger walked past him to leave, he grabbed the other man by the shoulder, turning him around.

“Excuse me, but what was that about the computer system?”

“Oh, they’ve just been having some glitches. Some Pokémon appearing and disappearing, that kind of thing. I just fixed it, though, so nothing to worry about.”

“Wait. You mean the computer system that stores Pokémon for trainers?”

“Yeah.”

“The system that basically consigns any Pokémon that you’re not using in your team into utter oblivion?”

“Yep.”

“The one with no security to it whatsoever, that lets you withdraw them just so long as you know the right name to put in?”

“Your point is?”

“My point is, did you fix any of that?!”

“Why should I? I put that in on purpose when I invented it.”

“…Oh, I knew I disliked you for a reason.”

The cops left him with a fine of 5k, which he was able to pay, but it all but wiped him out. Felt pretty damn justified, though, considering that it let him work out his anger on the asshole that had made such a fucked-up system. Locking someone off from all their Pokémon like that. What a fucking ass.

Shaking his head as he sat on the front door of the Center, he waited for the cops to finish talking to the systems guy. Bill, he’d heard, was the man’s name, and oddly enough, he didn’t seem to be pressing further charges. The cops got on their motorcycles and drove off, and Bill – black eye and all – turned back to him.

“Don’t worry. I’m not going to do that again,” Jared said. “Got it all out the first time.”

“I – was it really that bad?”

“Was it really that bad? Was it really – do you have to ask that?”

“I built that computer so that Pokémon would have a place to stay when they weren’t being carried around. I – well, I assumed that it would be a gift. Not everyone can afford to take care of Pokémon all the time.”

“Can’t afford – it’s literally free!” He pointed at the Center behind him. “24/7 medical and food care for your Pokémon. There’s no downsides to carrying them all with you. Do you know what it does to them, being trapped in there?”

Bill’s mouth opened, floundered, then slowly closed.

“Yeah, that’s what I thought. Too busy thinking of the problem, and never thinking of what the solution to it does, right?”

“I…you…”

“Look. Lemme just tell you that you deserved what I did, and let’s leave it at that, huh? Just…don’t make it worse.”

Jared shook his head. He didn’t know what he was hoping to accomplish there, but at least he’d gotten that anger out of his system. Did it accomplish anything? Probably not, but at least someone had finally said something. Everyone else in this world seemed all too happy to keep going and doing the same things as everyone else, never changing anything up, never trying something new. They just accepted it and moved on.

Well, sometimes things were shit, and you had to do something about it.

Stepping into the Pokémon Center, he got a glare from the nurse behind the bar, and he shrugged it off. He walked up and put his pokéballs on the counter.

“Sorry for the disturbance.”

“Quite all right,” the nurse said in that clipped tone of disapproving customer service representatives the world over. “And will this be all to take care of?”

“A room, too.”

“Yes. We can offer that.”

“…Do I get to accept the offer?”

“That depends. Are you going to assault anyone else?”

“That was a special case.”

“It had better be.”

The young woman took his Pokémon away, and Jared shook his head. He supposed that he deserved that.

Leaning back against the wall by the door, he slowly sagged down to a squat, and then to a proper seat. It probably wouldn’t take long for them all to get healed up. Nobody had any serious injuries, and he imagined that they were just going to need a little pepping up more than anything else.

Then we go upstairs, and then the hell starts.

He was on the verge of banging his head against the wall when the doors opened. Bill stepped through, looked back and forth, then finally saw him and knelt down.

“Look. I – I’m not saying that you were right, but…would you be up for a small experiment?”

“…Depends on what the experiment is.”

“Let’s assume that your proposal about Pokémon going mad in the computer is correct. How would you take care of them if you had them on you all the time?”

“That depends on how I actually lived.”

“Would you use them all in battle?”

“Bill, if I had my preferences, I’d be the one fighting. Never them. I hate the idea of them fighting my battles for me.”

“…Then perhaps you can try something for me.”

Reaching into his pants’ pocket, Bill pulled out a small remote. He pressed a few buttons on it before offering it, and Jared looked at it with an eyebrow raised.

“Go on. Take it.”

“What is it, first?”

“Oh, this? It’s an exemption rod. It lets you take as many Pokémon from the system as you like without having them sent right back in.”

“…You – you’re kidding me.”

“Not at all. I came up with it when I was still developing the system so I could control when the Pokémon went in and when they didn’t. I wanted to make sure that there were no misfires when I was testing it, just in case it wasn’t calibrated properly. But…if you’re right, then it is important to have evidence of a hypothesis. If we are to change things, make them better, then we need to show that it can work. And you taking care of all your Pokémon would go a long way towards showing that it is possible.”

“I get a reward for hitting you. Heh. I should do that more often.”

“Please don’t. This is a one-off. And it’s only because you might be right.”

Nodding, he took the remote. It buzzed slightly in his hand, then went silent. By the time that he’d tucked it into his backpack, Bill was gone, which was fine with him. The whole conversation had been a little awkward, anyway.

But that meant that he had an option to let Dratini out later, and that, in turn, meant that he could give the little dragon some time to himself. They were at a point where they could actually have a little fun, let the rest of the team relax and meet someone new, and –

“Your Pokémon are healed, sir.”

The nurse. Right. He stood up and took the pokéballs back, and the nurse slid a room key across the counter.

“The room at the far end of the hall, sir.”

“Thank you.”

“You’re welcome.”

Well, there wouldn’t be any good blood between him and the staff here for a while, he could tell. Best not to dwell on that too long.

He went up the stairs and found his room, stepping inside and locking the door tightly. Out of habit, he checked the corners of the room and the ceiling for any cameras and found none.

Croccy, I know I said we’d talk later, but for now…

Shaking his head, he pulled Bright Eyes’s ball from his waist and tossed it onto the couch. It bounced, burst, and the white light that came out solidified into the Abra’s shape. He was already floating, one eye cracked ever so slightly to show the psychic light coming from within, and he had dropped the illusion that kept his cock from being seen. Jared looked up at his face rather than suffer that sort of full frontal.

“Alright. We’re here, we’re alone. Let’s talk.”

“Yes. Let’s talk about your needs…and how we can negotiate that.”

“That, and what we can do about your sleep problems.”

“That isn’t on the table.”

“Oh, no no no. That’s not fair. You’re talking about being allowed to mess with me, physically, but to do that, you’re going to need to use your powers. And to use your powers, you need sleep. You may not need as much as other Abras, but you need a hell of a lot more than you’re getting right now.”

“…Are you saying that you will let me do what I like if I get more rest?”

“I’m saying that I will definitely be more interested in it if I know you’re not going to accidentally rip me apart.”

He hadn’t realized that was the truth until he said it, but now that he had, he was surprised at just how accurate that was. It wasn’t that the rest of the problems had disappeared – he still didn’t know how he felt about being under a Pokémon rather than on top of them – but it was a hell of a lot better than worrying about some psychic with less than a quarter of a night sleep trying to be precise with their powers.

“Look,” Jared said, kneeling beside the couch. “I…”

“You want this.”

“On some level…you’re right. I do.”

“Then we will –”

“Let me talk.”

Bright Eyes chittered in annoyance, but fell silent. Shaking his head, Jared pinched the bridge of his nose and counted to ten before he continued.

“On some level, I…am curious. I’ve thought about stuff that I might do with Croccy when he gets bigger. I’ve thought about…things…related to you and Gobbler. I wondered what I could do with Lurch, and what I might do with Shimmer, and what she could do to me. I wonder all those things. But…that doesn’t mean I’m comfortable with it yet. I…I don’t know how to stay in control, if I give in. It all feels like an addiction, like something I can’t stop if I let myself start.”

“Why does that matter?”

“Why? Why?! What if I…” Jared clenched his teeth, his jaws aching before he could make himself relax again. “What if I start acting like them? The bad ones? The ones that hurt Pokémon for their own pleasure?”

“That is why we should be in charge. You can’t hurt us if we are the ones telling you what to do.”

“But that isn’t…”

He groaned, stretching his legs out as he tried to find words for what he was trying to say. That wasn’t the only thing. If that was what he wanted – and the only thing that he wanted – then that would be fine. He could have settled for that, but…

But he still liked the idea of doing other things. Of being in charge. Of having the chance to do something more active, and…well, even with Bright Eyes, he imagined taking charge and pushing the smaller Pokémon up against the couch, holding him by the ankles and –

“Nngh…”

He broke eye contact, looking down at his lap as he held his head. There were so many problems, so many complications that he didn’t know how to handle. What the hell was he supposed to do about this?

Before he could spiral further, he felt a chitinous hand on his head. He let it push his head back and make him look up, and he made eye contact again. Bright Eyes cocked his head to the side.

“What…do you want?”

“…Take a look and find out. Maybe we’ll both – Nngh!”

He’d barely made the offer before he felt the Abra diving into his head, and worse, feeling those mental fingers digging around with far less precision than anything he had felt before. He gritted his teeth as they dug into him, all but fondling his thoughts as they went through his head.

It didn’t take long before Abra found his fantasies, and as the psychic brought them up, some of them were a surprise even to him. They played out like short videos in his head, each one different.

He saw himself with his cock in Shimmer’s talons, slowly being milked out for Lurch to consume his seed, almost like he was spitting fertilizer from his cock.

He saw himself pinning Croccy to the bed, rutting him like he was a good little bitch.

He saw himself on his back, his legs spread while Croccy put his tongue to use rimming him and stretching his ass.

He saw himself with one of Bright Eyes’s feet on his face, the other on his crotch.

He saw himself on top.

He saw himself on the bottom.

And it just kept going, and going, and going.

From Snugs to Shimmer to Lurch to Gobbler to Bright Eyes to Croccy, the fantasies went, each one different, each one shifting from him being in charge to him being on the bottom and taken charge of. Some were familiar, and some were very, very new to him, and showed him things that he’d never realized that he could have wanted. Yet, when he saw them, when he all but felt them, he couldn’t deny that it was at least a sexy fantasy, even if it was something he’d never thought he’d want.

And through it all, the same theme kept emerging. Even when they were taking charge of him, having fun, doing what they wanted, it was still based around the idea that they were working together, that they were having fun, together. It was never something that meant that he was an inferior human, or that they were around just to give him pleasure. It was always something that meant that they were being…well, loving with one another, even if in very different ways.

Bright Eyes finally pulled out of his head, and Jared coughed, gasping for breath. The Abra looked him in the eyes, slowly shaking his head.

“I…thought you wanted to be…”

“I…do, sometimes. But that’s not all. And it’s not just…that.”

“…”

“I’m still figuring it out. I’m still figuring…all of this out. And I don’t know what I feel yet, or what I’m going to do when this is all over. It’s complicated, and…and I’m still trying to figure out how to do the mission that they sent me here for, and how to handle all of you. It’s a lot. It’s a lot. So forgive me if I’m always in a hurry.”

“…I…think I should sleep,” Bright Eyes said.

“Maybe you should.”

Wanting to take it back the minute the words left his mouth, he tried to say something, but Bright Eyes had already disappeared back in his ball. Jared groaned, slapping a hand over his eyes, but he didn’t reach out to call the Abra back to him. For now, it might be better if they both had some time apart. After all, they’d just been…rather intimate with one another, and it was rather hard to completely disentangle that.

I didn’t know I wanted…

Hell, he hadn’t known he wanted most of that. Some kinky bits had been intruding on his thoughts ever since the Daycare kind of made it okay, and more had popped in after Whitney, but this was something new. Sex – his cock in one of their holes – had become almost okay, but all the other stuff? Ho, boy. Ho, boy.

“Arceus, how the hell am I supposed to do this and the mission?”

He didn’t know, and that was the problem. Dragging himself off the floor, he sat on the couch and looked at the other balls on his belt. Each one had a Pokémon that would be more than happy to have some fun with him. Croccy was probably spoiling for first choice, but so was Snugs, he imagined, and Lurch, for all his shyness, had seemed to like…sucking…

His cock twitched in his pants, and he glared at it. The more he thought about it, the more he realized that there was something more than just sex going on. There was…something else coming together between him and his Pokémon.

He’d always realized that he liked Pokémon more than people. That had been part of his life ever since he had realized that people tended to be shit and Pokémon were honest with you. He knew that about himself, but he’d never thought…

“Arceus…”

Jared leaned into his hands, groaning under his breath. It hit him, and it hit him hard.

“I’m falling in love with them…”
