A Dragon's Dance, Part 0
Another re-write I'm doing is my Toothless x Hiccup fanfiction from ... oh boy, 10 years ago! This is mostly a teaser/opener, and Part 1 will soon follow.
To be clear- this takes place 4 years after the first movie (making Hiccup 19, canonically) and about 1 year before How To Train Your Dragon 2. Only the first 2 movies will be applicable to this fan fiction, and none of the associated shows/other material. I haven't seen/don't know so much of it that I'm just gonna go with the movies.
I hope you all enjoy this little tease, and more to come soon!
The black dragon sat back on his haunches, green eyes tracing his work. It was right, chimed the dragon's instincts. He spat the branch aside, far from his work. His beautiful work- the grooves he had dragged into the ground. The grooves surrounding the small human before him.
The dragon snarled as the human lowered foot upon the lines, marring what the dragon had created. The human lifted his foot, the growl ceasing. Then the human repeated it. And again. Far more times than one should need to figure something out. Even a dumb human.
The dragon breathed in, chest tightening as the human stepped. Turned, stepped again. The dragon's remaining tail fin closed tight as the human made his way, carefully treading between the lines. Stepping, turning, until he arrived. The particularly small human stood a tail's width before the dragon. A hot puff of breath washed over the human's hair, neck and shoulders.
The human turned, facing the dragon. Timidly reaching out to touch the dark scales. A growl bubbled up from the dragon's throat, fangs baring again. The hand pulled away. Then, timidly as the first, the hand approaching once more. The dragon growled. Then he repeated it. And again.
Finally, the human turned away, raising his hand in humble offering. Letting himself be defenseless to the dragon. Time lingered, as both their hearts raced, as both thought of all the possibilities. Of everything that could happen. Of everything they hoped for.
The dragon dipped his muzzle, leaning in. Warm, black scales slid across soft human skin.
The dragon accepted.

The images faded, as dreams always do. Toothless's eyes opened, just a sliver, to check the room. Morning light seeped through the cracks of the window cover. It would soon be time to wake and start the day.
Toothless's eyes closed again. Most nights he had that dream. The one where Hiccup slowly stepped, danced, through Toothless's markings. When they touched muzzle to hand.
Somewhere on the island, a Dawnbite called out at the early light. So many dragons found it impossible to abandon their instincts. The screech calling out dominance for the area, that any prey in the area was this Dawnbite's pickings. Despite the fact that this Dawnbite had been the only one on the island since Hiccup had changed the island's ways four years ago.
Whether nuisance or blessing, the Dawnbite did help maintain daily ritual. Toothless's eyelids opened once more. The dragon sat up, arching backwards. He growled and gurgled in pleasure as muscles loosened. He curled forward, doing much the same, before shaking out.
Hiccup, somehow, slept through it all. Toothless brought himself upright, stretching each leg one at a time. He made his way across the floor, treading to the foot of Hiccup's bed. He spotted the peak of Hiccup's one foot. The contours in the blanket, up along Hiccup's legs. At Hiccup's waist, the was quite the prominent tent. Toothless paused, rolling his eyes. Four years since that dance, and Hiccup had never…
Toothless looked up to the human, a teasing smile on his muzzle. He leaned over and sniffed at the tent, then puffed a hot, damp breath against the blanket. Hiccup tensed in the bed, toes curling, limbs flexing. Just a little, then returning to their lax state.
Once again, Toothless rolled his eyes. He lowered himself, tensed, then leaped onto the bed. His fore paws landed on each of Hiccup's shoulders. Hiccup's eyelids bolted open, only to quickly shut tight. Just in time to protects his eyes from the slobbery tongue that slurped over his face. Toothless slobbered and smeared his tongue all over, lapping at Hiccup's face repeatedly. Tongue tines curled and dragged, smearing along every curve and nook and cranny of Hiccup's face.
“Okay, okay! I'm awake!" Hiccup protested, amid laughing and pushing at Toothless's face. The dragon bit at Hiccup's hands, teeth withdrawn, just playful nips to get access for a few more face licks. Toothless relented, standing over his human and smiling a silly smile down. Hiccup returned the smile, face marred by dragon slobber and matted hair.
There was scarcely a knock before the door pushed open. Toothless spun about-face quickly, teeth extended and a growl loud on his voice. He settled back as he spotted Astrid letting herself in. Toothless huffed and narrowed his eyes. This was his time with Hiccup, before the day's schedule was to begin.
Astrid was babbling away to Hiccup. The human's speech was so slow, so inefficient, compared to how dragons communicated. Toothless didn't bother to pay attention, sure it was some sort of demands that the work start earlier, that they prepare more, that something unexpected had arisen and was in crisis. It was ludicrous how the humans never expected something to go wrong, despite how it always seemed to.
Toothless felt hands pushing at his tail base, his haunches, his thighs. Trying to push his rear quarters to one side or another, so Hiccup could see Astrid.
Toothless smiled, amused at his own idea. He sat back, squishing Hiccup. His forebody shifted, hiding Hiccup beneath him and blocking Astrid's view.
Hiccup was pushing and squirming beneath Toothless, but it was nothing serious. Toothless snorted happily as Astrid glared up at him.
“Toothless, get off of Hiccup. You're going to kill him."
Toothless snorted once more and spread his wings, further blocking his human from the female. Astrid stamped around to the other side of the bed.
A quick turn and sit, Toothless keeping himself facing Astrid, blocking Hiccup, and being a pest. Hiccup grunted and muttered something, hands pushing at Toothless's tail again. But the dragon persisted, warbling happily at Astrid's frustration.
Astrid tried to move around the other direction again, Toothless bouncing up and sitting down to face her yet again. He warbled loudly, over whatever Astrid was yelling at him, head turned up as he proudly proclaimed that this was his time with Hiccup.
The warbling abruptly stopped as Toothless tensed. His tail fin splayed, then his back arched a little, pushing his hips downward. Hiccup couldn't be heard any longer, though he still pushed and squirmed. What had caught Toothless's attention was far more gentle than the shoving. It wasn't the force of the sensation, but the location.
On the last bounce, Toothless had moved up the bed. He was still sitting atop Hiccup. But he wasn't sitting on Hiccup's torso any more. He had sat back on Hiccup's face, pushed right into the seam where his tail and body met. Where his horizontal slit hid between his hind legs, and the pucker of his tail slit rested just past. Once again, Hiccup's breath teased against those sensitive places, practically kissing Toothless's tail hole. His nose was jammed into the softer scales just past, along the belly of Toothless's tail.
Another exhale sent a shock of pleasure, a tingling, up along Toothless's spine. It made his body tense and heat rush to his groin.
Toothless quickly bounced up and off the bed, onto the floor. He spun 180 in the air, landing facing the bed, facing Hiccup. The human gasped in a long breath of air, sitting up and holding his chest.
“Finally. Bud, you've got to be more gentle with us humans." Hiccup coughed and laughed, rubbing at his squished nose and face. Toothless couldn't help but notice Hiccup sniff a few times, surely noticing the pungent dragon smells Toothless had down there.
Luckily, dragons don't blush, or Toothless would surely resemble a hooktail over a night fury at that moment.
Toothless looked between the humans. Astrid had gone to the bed, examining Hiccup's face. Doting on him like Hiccup was incapable of his own defense. Toothless puffed out his nostrils, rolling his eyes again.
Their attention wasn't on Toothless. They were busy talking about whatever Astrid had so rudely invited herself in for.
Toothless huffed. He still felt a heat under his tail from the accidental stimulation. He turned to the door of the house. It hadn't been shut fully. Astrid being careless- but useful for the dragon. Toothless pulled it open with a fore paw and slipped out into the crisp morning air.
