Levi realized that he was a Leasher ever since his freshman year in high school but, four years later, Carter was actually the first Dog he dated, and it was everything he'd hoped it would be. Carter, he'd learned, had only just come to grips with his own sexuality, not just that he preferred the company of men, but that he preferred Humans over any Dog breed and he'd chosen Levi to be his Leasher. It was new and wonderful in a number of ways.

At just over six foot tall, Levi had never had a taller boyfriend but Carter, a Rottweiler, had him beat by a good three inches; at almost 200 pounds Levi wasn't a small guy but, again, his boyfriend had almost fifty more on top of that and it was almost all finely toned muscle. Despite the Rottweiler's impressive physical presence he was surprisingly reserved, quiet, and respectful-- it was a dramatic shift from the usual guys Levi had dated, and the Dog's gentle demeanor carried over into other aspects of their relationship as it deepened.

The Rottweiler was so easy-going as to be almost a pushover; after dating for almost three months Levi had suggested they move in together and Carter accepted without a fight. Although Levi was used to a boyfriend pushing for sex once they'd become serious he was almost tickled pink that Carter made him initiate that discussion and, once it was brought up, the Dog let Levi take the lead. Levi enjoyed sex, but there was something almost magical about someone who wanted to be with him for him and not just as a piece of meat... that, and it was the first time Levi had taken a dog dick complete with a knot.

By the time they'd been together for six months it felt like something real, and Levi found himself not just falling for Carter, but actively seeking to work through the little things that usually drove him away from past boyfriends. He'd always heard that talking about issues in a calm and constructive manner would help, and so that was the direction he chose. One night, as he lay on his lover's chest, breathing heavily after riding the Rottweiler hard enough that they were tied, Levi asked his question. "Hey... Carter?"

His boyfriend, who had been staring at the ceiling immediately redirected the gaze of his dark brown eyes to Levi. "Mmm? You okay, Levi?"

He felt Carter's hips twitch beneath his rump. The human brushed away the question as he addressed something more important. "You don't do anything illegal, do you?"

The Dog's floppy ears rose immediately. "Do I what?"

Levi rested his chin on Carter's chest, meeting his gaze. "Well... I told you when we first started dating that I work in a shipping warehouse... but you never told me what you do... I mean, if you were on a scholarship or something I--"

Carter looked away, his ears reddening. "You... ah... never asked."

The Human sat up, pulling away; he was honestly surprised that the Rottweiler's knot had already gone soft. He fought to keep his voice steady and tried to keep any accusation out of it. "Well I'm asking now. You work weird hours, and you make good money..."

The Rottweiler slid one leg off the bed, and then the other, rotating his body so he could sit up with his back to Levi. "I don't do anything illegal. I promise."

It wasn't very reassuring. Moving to join Carter on the side of the bed, Levi reached forward. "Is there any reason you're being so--"

Three very short sentences came out of Carter's muzzle in rapid fire. "I strip. I'm a stripper. I get naked for money."

Silence prevailed for a long span as Levi took the time to digest what he'd heard. Although a little pudgy, Carter still had a fantastic body, but he'd never expected such a quiet, reserved Dog to have the capacity for something so... lurid. "When you say 'naked', do you mean, like... underwear or....?"

He let the 'or' trail off without going any further. Carter reacted as if he'd been hit with a metaphorical rolled up newspaper. Another long pause stretched out between them before the Rottweiler responded. "No... not usually. I mean... some of the guys there do all the time, but I've only done it once or twice."

Levi took a breath and slowly let it out. Was he supposed to care? Was he supposed to be bothered? Was he supposed to be supportive? He honestly didn't know... but he wasn't done with questions and tried to remain neutral before making any snap judgments. "Do you have sex for money too?"

The Dog sprang up from the bed as if he'd been electrocuted by the mattress and let out a bark of objection. "What? NO! I-I've never done anything like that!"

The human exhaled again and patted the mattress; he could tell that Carter was just as uncomfortable as he, if not more. "Sit back down. Tell me about it then."

Carter held nothing back; he was forthcoming and direct as he told Levi about the club and about some of his coworkers. There was Kirk, a Doberman who often teamed up with Carter for an occasional set or two; Ike and Karl were a Shiba Inu and an Akita who often worked together on stage and pretended to be brothers; Sam was one of the most popular acts at the club, a Samoyed who really appealed to patrons who liked fluffy fur; there was Mason, a Dalmatian who split his time between working with the wait staff and as a stage performer when there was an open slot; the owner, Dusty was an Afghan and he spent most of his time behind the bar.

The discussion took over an hour and, as Carter slowly wound down his overview of his workplace he trailed off. "And that's everything. I didn't say anything because you'd never asked, and I figured--

Levi realized that the Rottweiler was right about him never asking and, if their situations had been reversed he was fairly sure he might not have said anything to Carter. He interrupted "Are you embarrassed about what you do?"

Shrugging, his boyfriend replied "I... kinda like it... but I didn't want you to be ashamed of me or see me any different than--"

The Human reached over and took hold of Carter's paw in his hand. "I don't, Carter."

The Rottweiler let out a slow, steady breath. "Okay... so... where do we go from here?"

Levi was trying to figure that out himself, but he couldn't get past the obvious conclusion of needing to understand it. "Well... next time you go to work, I'm going with."
