#2 of School of Dominants

Since his childhood, Sol has lived in an orphanage. He had always been found to be the weakest and smallest pup for his age. As years passed, he barely grew or matured enough. Always the gruff anti-social crybaby. On his mind, people were just mean, but perhaps the reason he wouldn't easily fit with the other anthros was because he thougth he was too different.

Neither he or anyone knew for sure if he was even born like any other living being. His real species or origins were unknown. As his shape was almost completely similar to a dog, he had been publicly registered as one.

He was to leave the orphanage to enter high-school, at the age of 14.

This story is about his life in high-school.

He didn't know how to get along with other people. Moving from the orphanage to the school made no significant difference for him. At least that was the way he thought about it.

How wrong he was..

...

A sunny morning on monday. The black corolla stopped right in front of the entrance of a modern building. The Howl Academy, where the short orange canine was to start his high-school life, was an enormous building located far from any big city. Students could start high-school and finish college in that same institution, should they choose to. Sol, however, was most likely limited to that place. He had the luck - that's how others would call it - to be allowed in Howl and have the possibility of completing his studies without paying anything. He knew he wouldn't have that luck a second time. Being that his only reachable hope of achieving something in the hard world he lived in, he had to embrace the opportunity.

Never being the most optimistic person, he sighed in boredom as he gazed at the entrance. His green irises still behind the car's window.

A female voice spoke to him, with hands in the steering wheel. "Well... that's it!" She said in a cheery tone. Glancing at the worried young dog, who happened to look a lot younger than he really was, the human girl let go one hand off the wheel to gently pat Sol in the head. "Hey, look more confident, now. The other students won't feel like approaching you if you keep that depressed look in your face." She touched her own chin with a finger. "...muzzle! Sorry."

Holding into his backpack, which felt pretty light for the only thing containing all his belongings, Sol motioned to open the door. "I don't need them to approach me..." He spoke almost quietly. The woman forced a smile, while waiting for him to get out of the car. "Sol, this is high-school, you can't stay alone. It's the best time to make friends! Have fun!" She pressed her own lips and sighed. "Of course, you gotta study hard. But friends can help you with that too!" She always spoke to him in the tone of a kindergarden teacher. Sometimes it annoyed him, but in times like that, he liked how it sounded. Opening the door, and placing his feet-paws hidden by the pair of white sneakers, Sol looked at her direction for the last time in his life. "Linda.. thanks.. for everything.." He timidly rose his hand, covered in a black leather glove, for her before shutting the car's door. Without looking back, he made his steps toward the entrance of the huge building, the sound of the car telling him the only truly good person he had ever met was leaving, going away, and in a few seconds he would find himself alone in the middle of teenage jerks.

He was aware of few things regarding Howl. One being the fact there were no girls in it. Not even employees. The other being they were all anthros, which made him feel, maybe, a little less out of place. He didn't mind the no-girls idea. Afterall, he was aware of his bissexuality since the age of 12. Sure the sight of girls would be more than welcome, but he was still indifferent toward the academy's policy.

Little did he know there were many details missing he should have been aware of.

The first thing that surprised him was the sight of a few students in the corridor. What they all had in commom, aside from gender, was their athletic shape, if not go ahead and say 'buff'. Some looked at his direction with certain curiosity, only for a few seconds. Others kept staring, few arching a brow and accompanying him pass by like he was the weirdest thing alive. The strangest thing was how a gray wolf inspired his scent as he passed by him. The wolf, wide-eyed approached another student and commented something to him, while taking short glances toward the short new student. Sol felt really unconfortable with all that, but decided to ignore them. For high-school anthros they sure were in top-shape. There wasn't a single one in the corridors that wouldn't make another man envious. What Sol felt, however, wasn't just 'envy'.. he avoided looking around him as he passed by, but he was soon intercepted by a black furred hand that made him turn around and see a 5.8 feet tall black cat dressed in a red gym jacket.

A white slightly shiny symbol in shape close to a 'c' lying on its forehead.

It hid its body well, but the curves and size showed he wasn't much skinnier than the other anthros he had seen. The male feline's golden eyes glared down to Sol's green ones. The cat had a cold intimidating expression. "You are new here.. are you not..?" The cat's voice nearly tickled the inside of the orange canine ears in a strangely good way. To Sol it sounded almost hypnotizing. The cat waited patiently for Sol to recompound himself and answer.

"Y..yes..." Sol answered in a quiet voice. Lucky for him, the cat's sensitive ears made it so he wouldn't need to repeat it out loud.

"Then you must be Sol..." The cat walked past him, his tail moving and gracefully giving the false impression to be motioning for Sol to come closer. "Follow me... I will guide you to your new room.."

Sol curved his spine as his entire body shook over in fear, before holding into his backpack's holders tightly and followed the black cat in a distance he judged safe enough. Since much younger, Sol had a fear of black felines. He hoped that guy would never notice how afraid he was. Unfortunately for him, the cat took down all the hope he could have. "I suppose you are too afraid to raise your voice again and ask, so I will tell you my name. It is Malus.." He spoke as he guided Sol up a series of stairs.

The short dog distanced himself further before continuing to follow the intimidating feline figure. "You might have noticed it back in the corridor.. but I will still remind you. The other students may find you rather.. unique around here. You should get used to it."

Sol watched his step as he followed the cat up the stairs. He finally took courage to speak again. "I-I know.. n-new guy and all..." His eyes didn't look anywhere but his own steps.

The cat, Malus, rolled its eyes to the side, as if he could see Sol without turning his head. "That is not what I am reffering to..."

When Sol asked what he meant, he was just ignored. Malus silently guided the rest of the way, until they arrived at the dorm. It was but one of the multiple dorms there were. Above the door it was reffered as Dormitory 3.

Sol followed Malus past the open door. The room was pretty big, but not that different from what he had imagined. There were two rectangular tables that could be used for.. whatever it was the students could think of. Several beds distanced from the next equally, each with a night table beside them. There was also a bookshelf, and two big closets. Right, as if he intended to keep any belongings in the same closet as other students. Specially with the possibility of someone hiding or stealing his stuff thinking it would be funny. Finally, there was the door to the bathroom. The bathroom was meant to be used by multiple people, just like any other public toilet. There was no one else there, except him and Malus. "You can keep your belongings inside the drawers.. and you should hurry, I am supposed to take you to the first class where you should be introduced to the others.."

There was only one bed that appeared avaible. It could only be Sol's bed. The orange dog left his backpack on top of the bed and returned to the dorm's entrance, where Malus awaited. "W..why...d..do..."

The black cat didn't wait for Sol to finish his question. The hesitation on Sol's speech was probably making him grow impatient. "You are supposed to be introduced because you will share the dorm as well as commom classes with the same students." Malus sighed, closing his eyes for a moment. He never liked having to explain too much. For the cat, everyone should be capable of comprehending things beforehand with the same ease as he had. Not a word came from his mouth as he started to walk again. Sol knew he would have to follow him again.

The first class was Geography. Of couse, both Sol and Malus would be twenty minutes late. Sol wouldn't care, neither would Malus. The feline guy was sure he wouldn't miss anything he couldn't learn on his own. Malus went ahead and opened the double door. The room used for the Geography class had the rows of seats seperated in higher levels so no one could block the vision of the student behind. For Sol, however, that could be a little different, unless he was to seat in the lowest level. Just like Malus had told him, all the students were guys. Every single one of them a lot taller and filled than Sol. What took him little time to notice as he entered the room was how most of them made the students back in the corridors look dispensable. When a particular hyena guy, whose hair looked even spikier than Sol's, stared at him in curiosity he could already feel his own volume tingle. Bad timing. He quickly aimed his green eyes to the teacher. The red fox stopped explaining whatever he was explaining and putted one hand in his gray suit's pocket, turning his atention to the new student. "So there's the new student. Thank you, Malus." The fox spoke, and Malus headed for his own seat without any hurry, leaving Sol standing alone near the door. The teacher motioned for Sol to move closer and spoke to the class. "Class, let's take three minutes to let the new student introduce himself." The teacher AND the students looked at Sol like they had never seen anything like him before. Extremely unconfortable with the way they looked at him, Sol stopped in the middle of the door's level, standing in front of the extense white board behind him.

"Is that a kid?" "He's shorty." "Must be a genius kid." "What the f.." "Is he?" Some of the students buzzed while Sol tried to think how to begin. Stupid introductions. They always gave a bad first impression. The teacher cleared his throat out loud. A strange way to make the students quiet down for the timid newbie to start his introduction.

"Uh... m..my... my name's Sol and.. uh..."

"Speak louder, Sol." The teacher interrupted, placing one hand in his table.

Sol stood silent for a while after the request, and proceeded to speak louder, not without hesitating just like before. "M...mah..my name is Sol...! W-well.. I'm fourteen years old and... and I was... uh.. transfered from Sunset Vale orphanage..."

Another interruption as some of the students looked shocked with his statement. "What?!" "14?!" "Bullshit!" He didn't look like he was 14 years old at all. Maybe 10 years old, but 14? Or maybe it was just their standards being too high. He was probably the only puny-looking guy in the whole academy. Their surprise would be followed by a sudden interest. They all seemed to calm down, but as they sniffled with their sharp - because they were all mammals - noses, they figured something else about Sol he would probably never mention on his introduction. Something Malus knew ever since he saw him in the corridors, but failed to mention clearer. The teacher noticed it too, and quickly patted Sol's shoulder, telling him to seat. "Allright, allright, that's enough Sol. You have plenty of time to know each other better. Time is short and I have a subject to finish!"

There were no free seats in the lowest level, but in the highest one. As Sol made his way, he could hear some of the students were still sniffling. Did he forget to take a bath or something? Right when he sat down, the answer came as two students whispered something that frightened him.

"He doesn't smells like a dom..." "A sub... here..?" "Definately a sub.. oh man, about time..."
