Tigers Point of View
Today was the day. There, i said it, and i never went back on anything i said. For the past three years I had played housepet to my humans, amusing the little girl, and offering company to the old man, and what did it get me? Sure i had a roof over my head, and food on my plate every night, but where was the joy of life, the excitement? I wasn't what they consisdered a kitten anymore, now, at three years old, I was a real tomcat, big, thick, wich a solid chest, short, thick neck, large head, and muscular hinquarters, I was no cub, and it was as if my humans could sense this too.Yestrday, for the first time in my life, I had stepped outside, felt the wind ruffle through my fur, felt the grass on my paws, and was free to chase all the birds I had the energy to run after. It was magical, perfect. But it was that day I also realized, I wasn't the only cat in the world, and the other cats, the ones that didn't have a warm house to return to at the end of the night, had a world entireley of thier own to attend to.It was yesterday that I saw him, a massive white tomcat with small orange splotches on his backside, with a colored ear.His face was scarred all over, and one of his ears had a large bite missing from it.I had been stalking a paticularly plump raven in a tree when i watched him cross the street on to my humans lawn, staying very still so this visiter didn't notice me, after all, wild cats had a notorious reputation amongst us owned cats.My girls friend Lizzie often brought her fat old cat Miss Muff along with her. She, like myself, was allowed to come and go as she pleased, though we house cats dont tend to stray far from our properties.Anyways, that old hag, whos almost 12, would sit and tell me all kinds of stories fo the nasty, terrible things the wild cats did amongst each other, a life I never really believed in.Until now. What the white and orange tomcat did could only mean her stories were true. From my perch on the branch I watched him calmly saunter up the walkway, his steady, silent paws carrying him to the shrubs just below the porch. In seconds he dispeared within them, and for many moments, he stayed there.Anxious and now captivated at what this male was doing, I hugged myself closer to the branch, eyes wide with curiosity. Then, fromt he side of my house, trotted a a scruffy tabby feline. She was light on her feet, with a catious look about her, but no amount of caution in the world could have prepared her for what happened next. The moment the shecat stepped before the bush, the white and orange male came barreling into her.She toppled imidiatly, flipping onto her back to flail her sharp, clawed back feet at her attacker.Tuffs of his thick white hair flew, but his claws were sunk deep into her shoulder, fangs burrying themselves into the side of her neck. With a squeal she writhed beneath him, twisting her body to flip on to her feet, twisting free of him, but not without consiquence.Ripping a large gash in her neck, she lunged foreward, getting about four feet before his massive bulk came crashing down on her.For many minuted after that it was an all out war, hissing, clawing, biting, spitting.Blood flew everywhere, and when it all died down, the scrawny tabby shecats face was planted int he dirt, the white and orange tomcats fangs burried into the back of her neck, with a clawed paw holding down her head. Then, with an almost delicate touch, he positioned himself above her, and took her, right there on my front lawn. For a long time i wathed the, until finally he came within her.To my suprise, she followed him after that, to wherever he went.It had captivated me, that all Muffs stories of male cats raping and enslaving shecats and thier kittens, selling and trading them, raping, beating, kiling, and keeping them like trophies.Magnificent, I had thought of nothing else since.I was determiend to do something like this, and had already worked everything out in my head.
You see, my humans had this room in thier house, a loft to be exact. The little girls mother had once used it as a piano recital room, sound proofing the entire room. However, after she had the second baby, she quite playing, and the room has since then been used for storage. They never went there, never used it, and it was the perfect place to use as my 'base of operation'.It was through the attic window i was able to explore it last night.A storm had caused a tree branch to crack against it, shattering a small hole in the window.Aside form a bunch of sealed boxes, the room was empty, with a bunch of blankts strewn across the floor.I was just lucky there was a tree right next to the house, otherwise i never would have been able to get in.now that I had the place, all i needed was the cat...
For this I had to wait until the next morning, when the little girl let me out again.Instead of my usual lazy saunter out and then sunbath,I bolted down the steps and out of the driveway.I didn't really know where I was going, so to find my way back I made sure to leave my mark every few paces. It was a full six blocks before i turned off the main streets into the alleys.imidiatly the vibe changed. No longer was I surrounded by noise and movement, but instead, was almost astounded by the lack of such things. With silent, slow steps I pressed on.My dark, muscular form stood out against the white slate of the alley floor, and i couldn't help but think that all eyes were on me.My tail flicked in irritance. It wasn't long before the scent of cat came to me, and, pausing sharply, I opened my jaws to breath int he taste. It was that of a shecat, and she was close to.Straining to hear, I took a look around, eyes wide an weary. With slow, purposeful steps, I found myself trailing the scent along a fence to a small, wooden shed.It was very old and run down looking, with loose boards all over and broken windows.the scent was stronger now, mixed with other smells, of cat and shed alike.Swiftly i dropped to my belly, tail twitching as I crept silently towards one of hte loose boards. With a silent squirm I squeezed my way in, ducking behind a dusty crate. After all, I didnt want to give myself away did i?Sowly, I peered around the side.My jaw dropped. In the corner, laying on an old rag, was a shecat and two kittens.I couldn't beleive my luck! The kittens looked as if they were hardly four weeks, all fluffed up in black fur, stumbling around as the pawed at each other. The shecat was a short hair calaico with wide, yellow eyes, and after a moment it became aparent these weren't her kittens, but her younger sibling. The mother was probably out hunting.Perfect.
