Dangerous Play - Chapter Three: Throw-In
#4 of Dangerous Play
"Sorry about Jake yesterday..." The lithe, jet-black feline said apologetically, twisting his fingers together nervously.
It was Andrew who had picked Thomas up, and the stout bobcat who was bursting from a polo shirt a size too small had been nothing but smiles from the front door to the car, and even had a smile across his face as they raced down the road in his old sports car.
"Don't apologize for that jackass." Andrew said with a laugh,
"I should've known the way he was looking at you that it was gonna be Nathan all over again."
And at that moment time seemed to pause, Thomas's head reeling to locate where he had heard it before. It had just been hours ago, but the kind yet firm voice came back to him slowly. And when it came to him, just seconds after, he spoke.
"What did you say?" He asked with a sense of urgency in his voice.
"Yeah, he couldn't keep his eyes off you. I bet he begged to be your little mentor too." Andrew responded dryly, missing the point of what Thomas had been asking.
Thomas fell silent at the thought of having been stared at by Jake. The day had been so long he hardly remembered who had shown up, let alone who was looking at him. The thought of the handsome doberman spending so much attention on him brought a flush to his cheeks, but after swallowing nervously he continued on to what he needed to know.
"No, what did you mean, Nathan all over again, Jake's mom said the same thing!" Thomas said, confusion clear in his voice.
"Oh, well, I mean it differently than she does, I'm sure." Andrew laughed.
"What does that mean?" the feline begged, attention turned completely to Andrew.
"Didn't Jake tell you about Nathan?" Andrew said with a hint of annoyance, wondering why the other feline was so in the dark about what the entire high school knew like the back of their paws. But Thomas's silence told him his ignorance was real,
"No shit! Well that's not surprising I guess."
"Andrew, what are you talking about? How am I like Nathan?" Thomas pleaded, remembering what he could about the wolf, but realizing he knew him far too little to draw any comparisons but physical ones (which were nearly direct opposites).
"I don't mean it like an insult, he's a nice guy and all" Andrew said defensively, but as he feigned off topic Thomas was quick to keep him on it.
"Andrew!" He said, voice slightly elevated in annoyance.
"Alright, alright" the bobcat said with a laugh,
"I guess I don't owe anything to that jackass Jake after that punch. Not that I'd keep it from you anyway, I mean the whole school-"
"Andrew, what happened?" The feline said flatly, providing another jerk to what he wanted to know.
Andrew sighed, realizing he would have to start from square one of the story everyone already knew. He couldn't remember the last time he had to tell it- or if he ever had to fill someone in, it was just that known throughout the campus. He took a short breath, and began.
"Right- so, summer before Freshman year is when Nathan and Jake met and they instantly became like, the best of friends. Always hanging out with each other, hanging on each other, and the two were always with each other, it was like-"
"Like they were brothers?" Thomas interjected. Andrew only scoffed.
"Like brothers fucking each other, maybe. And I don't know any brothers that love each other the way they did. It was way deeper than that." He said shrewdly.
"W-what? But Jake is straight- he has a girlfriend!" Thomas said, confused again.
"You know that don't mean shit. Those two were all over each other, nonstop. Nothing scandalous in public of course, but always together. And when they were separated, like in class, one would look at the other like he was sucking dick across the whole room." Andrew rolled his eyes.
Thomas was almost beside himself, and his recently trampled feelings for Jake made him want to believe what he heard was true, and not all gossip.
"So... they broke up?" Thomas asked hesitantly.
"Oh yeah. And with the way they act like strangers now, I'm betting it was one hell of a fight." Andrew said smoothly.
"What went wrong?" Thomas asked, eyebrows furling.
"Just before Junior year it had been almost three years they'd been together, and Jake wanted to... you know... go the next level in their relationship. Not that anyone would have been surprised, I mean, they didn't fight a single rumor at school, but Nathan wouldn't have it. And come the first week of school, you had the strangers you do now, and Jake was suddenly randomly dating Rebecca, trying to kill any rumors I guess."
Thomas was now fully beside himself. Jake, the supposed all-around nice guy whom he had spend his last precious days of summer with, had dumped his boyfriend he loved so much over sex, and hooked up with a girl to cover it up? And now he was supposed to be the new Nathan? A small, silent rage had bubbled up within him when they arrived at the school, and as he grabbed his sports bag and backpack from the back of the car he flung his door open.
And into the car next to him.
There was a scraping sound so loud it turned heads from the other side of the parking lot, and made Thomas turn his head so fast he heard something pop. And as his eyes turned they met those of a too-familiar doberman.
"Mrs. Alexander!" He gasped, an instant loss of words or thought.
Jake had been in the car with her, and now all four commuters were standing outside the two cars, over looking the damage done. Jake's mother had a sad, but slightly uninterested look across her face.
"I'm so sorry! I didn't-" Thomas began, but Mrs. Alexander cut him off.
"It's fine, it's fine. Just a small ding. The bell's gonna ring soon- you boys get to class now."
There was a slight silence, and then both Andrew and Thomas spoke together.
"Okay, Mrs. Alexander."
Jacob's eyes had not released Thomas, and were demanding a moment to talk. But Thomas only looked away, and made for first period with a terrible feeling at the bottom of his stomach.
The day went by extraordinarily fast, and now that the team had one practice under their belt the next went by slightly easier. Andrew didn't show up for practice, and Thomas was dying to talk about Jake again, to ask all sorts of questions that had built up over the day. But the only thing awaiting him outside the locker room, was Jake himself.
"Jake." Thomas said plainly with a nod, and as he moved away, was blockaded by a strong muscled arm, and the doberman's face was precariously close to his.
"Jake...?" Thomas repeated, warily.
And in the next moment their maws were together, and the warm canine tongue was playing across his. But this time, it was Thomas who pushed the massive dog away.
"What the hell Jake?" Thomas yelled, wiping a paw across his maw.
"What's your problem? Day before yesterday I remember you being the one kissing me."
Jake leaned in again, maw ready for more, but received nothing more than a forceful paw of rejection.
"I don't want to be the next Nathan!" Thomas yelled, and Jake retracted almost instantly.
"What?" he asked incredulously,
"What's that supposed to mean?"
Thomas gulped nervously, but his anger and resentment for the doberman had built up so much throughout the day it forced the words out from him.
"I don't wanna end up dumped because I'm not gonna hop into the nearest bed with you, so why would I even bother with scum like you?
He was breathing deeply, eyes set in a firm glare, which only deepened as Jake began to laugh.
"Yo-you're a monster..." Thomas said, and began to walk away, but the strong paw held strong on his shoulder.
"Whoever told you that deserves to be shot." Jake said, calming his laughter,
"But really, we should talk. Let's go to my place."
"I think I'm just going to go home." Thomas responded, knowing Jake and anyone like Jake would deny such an accusation.
"Come on." Jake pleaded slyly,
"You should at least give a better apology to my mom."
Thomas froze in his tracks before reluctantly turning, and began walking to the front parking lot where he had left the accident. Whether or not Jake was following to be there when he made the apology he wanted to make, he didn't care.
Mrs. Alexander was at her car, waiting for Jake, but was pleasantly surprised to see the small black feline striding up from the campus.
"Hello Thomas..." She said, and then saw Jake behind him,
"Are you coming home with us?"
"He sure is." Jake said with a stupid smile.
"Oh, good, I'll be sure to set an extra place for din-"
Jake's mother was getting into her car, but Thomas's sharp voice had stopped her.
"I'm so sorry, Mrs. Alexander!" He said, fully meaning every word,
"You've been nothing but nice to me, and I go and dent your car. I'm so sorry. I'll pay you whatever it costs to fix it, it'll take me a while to save bu-"
Thomas was cut off by the thin doberman's warm embrace around him, a hug from the woman whose car he had just damaged hours ago.
"Thomas, honestly, it's just a car. I forgave the accident as soon as I saw it was you who did it. Water under the bridge."
She held the hug for a few more moments and then withdrew, stepping back into the luxury sedan now hundreds if not thousands less in value.
"Let's get going." She said briskly,
"I'm starving."
She shut her door and turned the key, the engine erupting into a calm purr. Thomas, wide-eyed, made his way to the passenger side.
"Man... your mom is amazing..." He said to Jake, partly forgetting his anger.
"Yeah, I know." Jake said, smiling.
The drive to Jake's house was as if the majority of the last 48 hours hadn't happened. They all chatted friendly with one another, making the drive last nothing more than a few seconds. As they walked in the house, Mrs. Alexander estimated dinner to be ready in forty-five minutes: way too much time for him and Jake to be talking, Thomas thought dreadfully.
They weren't even to his bedroom when Jake began to talk.
"I didn't dump Nathan because he wouldn't have sex with me. Trust me- that wasn't ever an issue."
Thomas's heart thumped uneasily. A few hours ago he was straight with a girlfriend, and now he was talking so freely of his relationship with Nathan? He entered the doberman's room, and sat on the swirling desk chair while Jake took a seat on his bed.
"Than what..." Thomas began, but quickly changed his words,
"You two were so close... I mean, you still have his picture over your bed... what could have happened that now you act like total strangers?"
Jake fell silent, his eyes flickering to the photo resting on his headboard.
"Nathan wanted to go public with our relationship. Come out to the friends, the family... the school... and I... I just wasn't ready for that... " Jake's voice was solid, but hushed.
"So he broke up with you and treats you like you don't exist because you didn't want to come out?" Thomas said flatly,
"No." Said Jake sharply,
"See, after that we were still cool, and he was willing to wait a little longer... but a week or two after was when he started acting weird. He was quiet, and distant... I didn't see him for days at a time- when we used to hear from each other like every other hour. And out of nowhere, he ended it."
"He broke up with you?" Thomas asked in clarification.
"Yep." Said Jake, solemnly,
"Didn't give me a reason either. Said we could still be friends and all... but he didn't mean it. He never returned my calls, suddenly got busy with work all the time. And there you go, just a year later, strangers."
Thomas was suddenly very sad, almost too sad to believe the tale.
"How do I know you're telling the truth?" He asked quietly.
"Do you think I'd keep a picture of us in my room because he was just a hot piece of ass?" The rhetorical question fell on ears that already knew the answer.
"He was my best friend." Jake finished with a sigh, thinking he'd only have to open this wound years from now.
"I'm... sorry." Thomas said,
"For calling you scum. I... didn't know."
"It's fine. Nothing a kiss can't make better." Jake said with a smirk.
Thomas only sighed, looking away.
"What?" Jake groaned.
"It's just a lot to process in one day! Twelve hours ago I hated you more than anything else and now..." Thomas trailed off,
"... And now you feel exactly the same?" Jake attempted to finish, but Thomas's perky black ears were shaking in disagreement.
"And now," the feline continued,
"I don't wanna do anything else but kiss you..."
His feelings had been retrieved from the waste bin, and it was like trying to smooth out a crumpled piece of paper. The Jake he had met and known over summer was back, not that he ever left. Jake's whole body perked up- from his cropped ears to his wagging nub of a tail.
"Well, I can't complain about that!" He said excitedly, arms tense at his side.
Thomas slinked out of the chair with a smile, walking over to the foot of the bed and resting his palms between Jake's spread legs, leaning in so close Jake felt the tiny whiskers grazing the tip of his nose. Their lips were just inches away, when everything stopped.
"Jake! Thomas!" Echoed the strong voice of Mrs. Alexander.
Thomas burst out into a soft laugh, easing himself back up.
"Dinner!" He said with a smile.
"Woah woah woah wait a minute, I want my kiss!" Jacob protested, but Thomas was already out the door,
"After dinner. Maybe." Was all Jake caught.
The dinner that had been quickly prepared was still steaming hot as the two made their ways into their own chairs. Before long, they were deep in conversation.
"Two days under your belt, Thomas, how are you finding yourself?" Mrs. Alexander asked, blowing the steam from the morsel on her fork.
"Pretty good. I mixed up two of my classes today but I still got back in time. The teachers are all pretty nice too." Thomas answered with a smile.
"That's good. And soccer?" As she asked she looked to Jake, opening up the conversation to him as well.
"Fine. Coach is all uptight about getting to finals this year though." Jake said mildly.
"That's no surprise. You guys came close last year." His mother said, understandingly.
After dinner, Mrs. Alexander offered to clean up, but noted it was just for tonight, and Jacob made his way up the stairs and down the hall with an unusual bounce in his step, one that did not go unnoticed by his mother.
Back in the messy bedroom, Jake hopped up onto his bed, turning quickly, so that as Thomas came in he was exactly as he had left him.
"Really?" Thomas asked with a laugh, shutting the door behind him but not coming any closer.
"Yes, really!" Jake said, ears flat against his head,
"You said after dinner, and it-"
"I know what I said." Thomas said with a chuckle, taking a few steps forward,
"I'm just... surprised you'd be so eager."
"Of course I'd be..." Jake said.
And before long they were as close as they had been an hour ago, if not closer. They weren't quite touching yet, but the smell of their fur was swirling in both of their noses. And as both maws parted, Thomas broke it off.
"Wait." He said quickly,
"What?" Jake nearly yelled.
"You have a girlfriend! I don't wanna be- I mean, we can't if- I don't want to be the home wrecker..." Thomas blurted out to quickly to quite the antsy doberman.
"Rebecca knows." He said bluntly.
"What? Really?" Thomas said in disbelief, finding the notion of them both being okay with fake-dating odd.
"Yeah," Said Jake, shifting his weight,
"She's gay too. So we kinda cover for each other since we don't wanna be found out."
"Oh... wow." Thomas said blankly, he would have never thought,
"Then..."
"Then?" Jake repeated longingly.
"Then... I guess we can kiss." Thomas said cheerfully, leaning back in, and meeting Jake's lips.
And for the first time, neither of them pushed back. Both were willing, emotions unclouded. Thomas's hands were soon on the doberman's strong chest, which fell backwards, and the slender feline was soon on top of Jake, the massive canine paws attached to the Thomas's waist. Breaking from the kisses, Jake continued the seemingly long forgotten conversation they had just had.
"Among other things." He said with a sly grin.
With a chuckle from the light feline atop him the two fell back into their loose exchange of kisses: two for one, that one for three more, then two again, an exchange that could never be accurately recorded. As Thomas eased his weigh down fully onto the doberman's body he felt the doberman's antsy self press against his own, sending sparks of excitement down both their spines as their minds began to wander elsewhere.
Jake did not hesitate to follow where his mind had taken him, and pulled down his tented shorts just below his rump, revealing his quickly hardening cock. Thomas paused, slightly surprised at the pink girth openly twitching below him, but soon went back to kissing at the doberman's neck. But this exchange could be easily counted, for not after three kisses, Thomas felt the strong paws at the elastic of his shorts, the slightest of tugs conveying Jake's wants. He rose, and Jake quickly followed, so that the lithe feline fell into his lap.
Thomas positioned his legs comfortably around the doberman's waist and tugged down his own shorts, revealing his growing member already leaking a drip of pre. He laced both arms around Jake's muscled neck and grabbed a gentle hold of his broad shoulders, pushing his pelvis forward so that the two warm shafts met, making dancing shivers of arousal run through their entire bodies.
Jake wrapped his large, strong paw around the two shafts and squeezed firmly, instantly releasing a soft moan from the feline, who clutched his shoulders just a little tighter. Jake didn't even have to stroke, slowly massaging the two lengths together alone had Thomas squirming with delight, and the sight of pre slowly bubbling up and out of his pink tip soon made his own dribble out. His paw was a sticky mess when he began to stroke the pulsing shafts firmly together, letting his neck roll back as his entire body gave way to the firm strokes. Thomas leaned in to cover the neck in warm kisses, tasting the hint of sweat from unwashed fur. But he had to pause as a surge of pleasure washed across his body, and he buried his head in Jake's shoulder as he grabbed hold a little tighter.
Their hips began to move rhythmically with Jake's strong strokes, and their breathing was growing quicker and deeper as the doberman squeezed a little harder and picked up in speed. His paw ran up and down the slick lengths, the wet, sticky sound of the hot fleshes gliding and rubbing over one another filling their ears. Thomas moaned into Jake's shoulders, only remembering halfway through it that his mother was just steps away. He parted his mouth, taking in stifled breaths of air.
Thomas pulled his body close to Jake as his muscles tensed up, and with an airy gasp his warm cum shot upwards, hitting him in the chest, and the following pulses decorating the mass of body between them in gooey strands.
The physical and mental stimulus of the feline reaching his peak and releasing so close to his own body, clutching at his shoulders and pressing his weight into his neck was just what he needed to reach his own orgasm, and spilled his own seed in messy squirts not only across Thomas's chest but of his own as well. He had always been a shooter. He stroked the remaining pulses out, still holding firm with a grin until both their reserves had been emptied.
Jake chuckled, tongue lolling out the side of his maw, but his attention snapped forward when his bedroom door clicked open.
"Rebecca!" He shouted, but keeping his voice quiet enough so that it would not carry down the nearby stairs.
Thomas released his hold on Jake and his head snapped just as quickly as Jake's had. Rebecca's face was an insipid mixture of faint horror and overabounding sadness: it was a face that, above all else, conveyed she certainly did not know.
