A Firefighter to the rescue -- 09 -- A High paid decision

" GET DOWN !!!!" Tala suddenly yelled at Tasida and pushed her down with his arms.

She was about to protest hardly, but before she could say a word, Tala threw his Body over hers and a second later a huge explosion took place.

* BBBBBBBOOOOOOMMMMMM *

The shockwave ran over their Bodies within a second and then some pieces of concrete, stones, and glass were landing next to them. Once they had recovered from the shockwave, they both looked up and over to the Pokémon Center or better said where it had once stood. The half of the Center wall had gone and nearly the rest of it was standing in flames. Papers and table pieces were flying around inside the Center, and in between were some beds standing. Beds with Pokémon in them who were looking in shock and fear at the flames.

" OH MY GOD !!!" Said Tasida, still in shock." What happened ?"

" The fucking Gas Tank has exploded !" Said Tala back with a deep growl. " And I've had hoped that it had been not damaged from the attacks. DAMMIT !!!"

Tala jumped up from her and tried to run towards the Center, but before he started to run, Tasida said to him in fear.

" Where are you going ?"

" I'm going to help them !!!"

" No !!! You cannot...." Tala interrupted her, hardly by screaming into her face.

" I HAVE TO !!! I'M A FIREFIGHTER AFTER ALL, AND I'M THEIR ONLY HELP NOW!!!"

With that said, he ran towards the Center and jumped into the flames, leaving a speechless Tasida behind.

He is such an ass. She thought. But why does my heart feel so happy about this ? Why do I like.... To see this action all of a sudden ? And why do I also fear it so much ? Am I.... Am I really.....

While she thought, her Body began to move towards the entrance of the burning Center. First slowly, but then faster and faster until she was standing in front of the automatic doors. Of course, they did not open because the engine had dumped down, so she slammed the doors open and only a second later, Tala appeared in front of her, carrying two little Pokémon Babies in his Paws. Joy was right behind him and behind her were two Chanseys who were each driving a bed with Pokémon in it.

" Here ! Take them and bring them to safety !" Tala said to Tasida and handled her over the two babies who were sightly still in shock because they were shaking all over their Bodies.

Tasida took the two and once he was free, Tala turned and ran back into the Center. Meanwhile, Tasida, Joy and the Chanseys moved away from the Center, over to the street, which had become full of people who simply wanted to watch the scene. Tasida wanted to clear some space for them, but with her still unable to speak Human, it was impossible for her to tell them. Luckily, Officer Jenny and her Team of deputies reached a few moments later and began to clear their way for them.

" Joy !" Jenny said to Joy. " Is the evacuation system active ?"

" Yes, it is." Said Joy back. " The Pokémon inside their Balls got transported to the other Centers in our Neighborhood. Only our 30 Critical patients and 20 Newborns are here in this Center."

" OK. Right. My men and I will handle the people on the street. Do you need some more help ?"

" The only help I need now are the Pokémon trainers. So let them through when they reach and give Sebastian a priority call !"

" Understood !"

With these said, both Girls began their work. Meanwhile, Tasida and Tala had built a quick transportation service, which was simply a give and take motion. Tala came out of the Center and handled her or a Chansey a Pokémon or a Bed with one or two in it, and then he ran back into the Center. Then, after 5 Minutes after the explosion, Something happened.

" TALA !!!"

A Group of 6 Squirtles had appeared in front of the entrance, and Tala quickly recognized them.

" Ahhh!!! Team Squirtle !!! It's Good to see you fellas. Where is the rest ? Where is the rest of the Team ? I need them !"

The Leader of the Team immediately answered.

" I'm afraid to tell you that we are the only ones that you can currently have. Team Blastoise is here with us, but they have to move away two trucks first which have dropped sideways on the street up ahead before they can reach us, and Team Wartortle is with Sebastian on the other side of the town because they had been called earlier for a Car accident on the Highway."

Tala's face became angry while he said.

" God dammit !!! I need some heavy water power in here.... I cannot....."

Tala began quickly to look around, and then he said to Team Squirtle.

" OK. Listen. I've had an idea. You Two move into this way and hold your ground there." Tala pointed with his Paw at two of them and then at one of the two ways.

" Roger !" Came back from the two.

" You two do the same with this way."

Tala pointed over to the other way.

"Aye !"

" And you two act as a backup right in between them."

" Understood."

" I will go and search for reinforcements. If all goes wrong, ran out as fast as you can. Understood ?"

" Yes Sir." Came back from all three teams and afterwards, Tala ran out of the building.

Once outside, he asked himself.

" How can I find some....... AAAHHHH !!!!"

Tala had found a way while he had looked around.

He had seen Jenny with a microphone on her mouth, talking to the masses of people. Quickly he ran over to her and while she spoke he grabbed the phone.

" Please go on !!! You are...... PPPPIIIIEEEPPP !!! Listen everyone !" Tala managed it somehow to speak in perfect Human. " If there are trainers with Water or Mud Pokémon under you, please leave them free to help me fight the fire ! My team is on his way here, but they will not make it in time and there are still Pokémon trapped inside this building !!! PLEASE !!! NO MATTER WHAT IT COST !!!! LENT ME YOUR AID !!!"

First, nothing happened, but then a ball flew over the masses and opened itself right next to Tala and revealed a Vaporeon. Shortly afterwards, more and more balls flew in and in the end, Tala had the help of 5 Water Types and 1 Mud Type. Tala then wanted to go work with them, but before he could, he heard a kit speaking to him.

" Can I help you too ?"

Tala looked down at the Kit, who was holding a young Marill in his arms. The Pokémon was barely 4 Months old and sightly nervous, so Tala said to the Kit with a low and lovely voice.

" Of course you can. You can take care of the surrounding people. If a fire piece flies over here or there, you can kill it for me, will you ?"

The Kit smiled and nodded a happy yes.

Once that had been cleared, Tala looked at his New team and said to them.

" I know that I'm not your Trainer and I cannot command you but please..... Help me save the guiltless Pokémon inside this Center."

Each Pokémon immediately nodded a Yes, and Tala said happily to them.

" Thanks. Now come with me, please."

He ran with them along the right side of the building and in the middle of the right side he stopped, saying.

" OK. Listen. Vaporeon and Muk. You two fight the fire with water and mud from here. And please....don't do something on your own. When the wall begins to drop, run like hell."

The two nodded a Yes and Tala began to ran again. On the start, he called out.

" GOOD LUCK !!!"

Together with the four other Pokémon, he ran to the backside of the Center, where the hole was. There he said.

" Blastoise and Buizel. This is your place. Shot like Hell into the..... OH, NO !!!"

With his Aura sight, he had seen that a Pokémon had moved on the second floor of the Center. Yet the movement was a really hasty one because it was hanging inside the Hole and struggling to hold its grip.

Without even thinking, Tala stormed towards the Center to help. Yet half on his way he saw that the Pokémon lost his grip and started to drop.

Tala did an insane jump towards the dropping Pokémon but half on his flight he saw that he would not make it, but then he gained some underestimated help. Suddenly, he was pulled forward with full speed, and he recognized that his Paws were getting wet. Quickly he did a look over his shoulders and saw that the Blastoise was shooting his cannons at him to give him the needed speed, and within seconds he reached the hole and caught the Pokémon in the middle of it.

Yet he did also a little mistake. Once he had caught the Pokémon, a young Sandslash, he turned in midair and tried to stop his flight with his feet, but he was too fast. He crashed into a bed, which had been blown onto the wall, with his backside.

Pain began to run through his entire Body, but he bit onto his Lips, stood up from the ground after a few seconds, and then he ran towards the Hole. Once reached, he was happily seeing that the Blastoise and Buizel had begun to shot their water guns at the building and had opened a little hole in the firewall which had formed after he had flown in. He took the little Pokémon into the middle of his Body, jumped forward and began to roll his Body so that his backside was always showing into flames.

Luckily he made it without some damage out of the building, but on his landing he felt that something was not right with his Body. His left side began to hurt him but thanks to his high adrenalin level he didn't feel much, so he thought that it was only a little scratch from the impact with the Bed, but it was more. A Rip inside his Body had been broken and in a few minutes it would play a serious role for him, and there was one more thing.

Tasida had seen nearly the entire action, but not with her Aura sight. She had opened her Eyes because the flames had begun to rob her sight, and after she had seen of what Tala had done, one thing became very clear in her mind, and so she confessed that once all was over, she would tell him that she was in Love with him. No matter the cost.

Once Tala had landed and had seen Tasida, he ran over to her, gave her the little Sandslash and without saying something on, her turned and ran back to the Blastoise and the Buizel. As he reached them, he looked around to find his last two Team Members. Yet they were not there, and he began to think that they had run away in fear, but then he heard them from the last remaining side of the Building. Once he reached there, he saw that they had begun to shot at the fire of their own. Somehow he became a bit proud of them and while he passed behind them, he called.

" Nice Work !!! Keep going and Good luck !!!"

Now that everything had been cleared outside for now, he ran back to the main entrance and slipped back inside to end his search. Inside the building was hell going on. Alarms were ringing. Pokeballs were being transported away and from here, and there were little screams heard from Pokémon in need.

As quickly as possible, Tala rescued one after one from the fire and while he did that, Team Blastoise finally appeared on the scene and began to support his Teams on the outside. Inside was Tala now inspecting the last two rooms when he heard some strange sounds from the roof.

Oh, no !!! He thought. The roof is about to collapse !!! I need to be quick !!!

He then checked the first room, and luckily he found nothing in it, but in the second room were 2 Pokémon. A Furfrou and a Pidgey with a bandaged wing. Luckily they were both very young and unharmed, so Tala was able to pick them up both at once but while he did, he heard one of the Squirtles screaming.

" TALA !!! GET OUT THERE !!! THE ROOF IS COMING DOWN !!!"

" RETREAT AT ONCE !!!" Tala shouted back while he turned inside the room and started to run like hell.

" BUT WE CANNOT ....." Tala cut them by screaming very loud.

" STOP ARGUING AND RETREAT !!! I GO OUT ANOTHER WAY !!!"

Tala had reached the door and at that moment, the roof began to give in. Luckily it started on the end of the way and so Tala got some seconds to run but then, his wound began to call because the Furfrou, which he carried on that side, began to struggle in his arms, and it always hit his side with one of his Paws.

Tala nearly collapsed to that side, but he managed it to stop his fall while he kept on running, but he had lost the head start by it, and now he felt the shockwaves of the collapsing roof. He knew that it was coming closer and closer, and he saw that he would not make it. So he decided to do a desperate jump forward.

He took the two Pokémon in front of his chest, and then he jumped forward. While he flew he moved himself into a protective ball so, if it would happen, the two would make it while he would sacrifice his Life and Body for them. Yet he somehow made it.

Together with the two, he flew past the doorway from the floor and landed with his hole Body in the main Hall of the Center. The collapsing stopped at the door, so they were safe for now. Yet his Body had gotten more injuries from the jump.

Now his Body was in permanent Pain and his side became dark blue and red. Also, some cuts and abrasions were all over his back, but he didn't care that all. All that mattered to him was that he had rescued all the Pokémon from the Center, or at last he thought that he had saved them all.

Once he was sure that the two Pokémon in his Paws were alright, he looked at the Squirtles, who had begun to retreat, and said to them.

" Alright..... HAH !!!! ...... Time to leave now."

The Squirtles followed his order without a word and, together with him, they left the Center. Outside and in enough distance, he dropped and began to breathe like hell. Each Bone and muscle inside his Body was screaming in pain, and he was happy that it was over for him, but then Joy came to him with a pale face. Tala immediately saw on her Aura that something wasn't right, and so he asked her.

" What's wrong, Joy ?"

" I cannot find Steven and his Growlithe." Joy said with a hasty Voice, and immediately Tala was paying high attention.

" Where have you last seen him ?" He asked while he slowly got back up.

" He was together with me in the Laboratory on the second floor. Please tell me that you found him there."

" On the.... RATTATA POO !!!!" Tala said and began to run towards the Center again.

Yet, while he started to run, Joy saw his bad side and wanted to stop him because she knew that injury far too well, but she wasn't fast enough to stop him. Yet she tried it still to stop him by running after him, but once she reached the main entrance of the Center, Jenny stopped her by grabbing her Arm and telling her.

" You cannot go in there. It's too dangerous."

" But Tala is in more danger !!! He's terribly wounded and needs some quick medical advice." Joy said back, but Jenny still didn't let her go.

Luckily, Tasida had heard all, and before she could even think about it, she had sneaked into the building from behind the two. Jenny had seen her once she got in and also tried to stop her but once Tasida had passed the door, a piece of the roof gave in and blocked the way in.

Now, inside the main Hall, Tasida began to scan the surrounding with her Aura in search for Tala, and she quickly found him. He was walking slowly towards the last way towards the next staircase, and she also saw what Joy had meant. His Aura pulsing like a heartbeat, and he was holding his side with his paws. The pulsing, she had seen only once, and that scared her because it was an indicator that he was fighting against the death.

She quickly made her way to his side and once she reached him, directly in front of the stairs, she said to him.

" Tala !!! You need to go back !!! Your wound is...." He cut her hard.

" I will not..... Go back until..... All are safe !!!"

He began to walk upstairs but on each stair, he nearly lost his consciousness. The pain was now the only thing he felt, and he also began to spill out some blood. Yet he deeply refused to stop, no matter how hard Tasida tried to do it. At a certain point then, she gave in and supported him.

Together with her, he made it quickly upstairs and once they were up, they both heard a low help cry from the Boy.

" STEVEN !!!" Tala shouted out with his last power. "STEVEN !!! WHERE ARE YOU ?"

" I'M OVER HERE !!!" Came nearly immediately back from the next door. " HELP ME !!!"

Hearing the Boys voice gave Tala new energy to focus on his job. He moved over to the door and slammed his Body against it with his better side. After the third impact it finally opened and revealed a half intact Laboratory.

Luckily, no fire had made it here till now but the hole furniture had been flown everywhere and a piece of the exterior wall was missing. Yet that was nothing to worry about. What was important was the fact that the Boy was unharmed but his Growlithe wasn't. The young Pokémon had been trapped under two tables, and it was visible that it was hurt because it was crying in pain.

Seeing this gave Tala even more power back. He quickly ran towards one of the tables and tried to pull it up badly, but it was no use. It didn't move at all, and he again felt his bad side hardly. Yet again he didn't stop. He kept on thinking to solve this puzzle, and he quickly found a solution.

" Tasida. Come here and try to move up the second table together with me. Steven once it's possible, take your friend away from under there."

Steven did a quick yes nod and Tasida moved over to the second table. Once she was there, she placed her paws on it and gave Tala a sign that she was reading. Once seen, he said into the round.

" OK everyone. On three..... One.... Two..... TTTTHHHHHHRRRRREEEEEEEEE !!!!!!"

The two began to pull up as hard as they could and finally the tables began to move. Once they were high enough, Steven dragged his Growlithe away and after the situation was clear, Tala and Tasida letting their tables crash down. Afterwards Tala did a quick look over the Growlithe and once done he began to quickly look around.

" Damn !!!" He said. " We need to fix his legs straight before we can go on. Their broken."

" Here!!!" Tasida said and gave him 4 metal sticks which she had found behind her Body. " Think they can do the job ?"

" Yeah. They're fine. Now we just need something..... Steven. I'm sorry to ask you but.... Can I have your pullover and..." The Boy quickly moved his pullover over his shoulders and gave it Tala without saying a word.

Tala took the pullover with a "Thank You" and sliced it into long pieces. With them and the sticks, he fixed the legs of the Growlithe tightly. Once done, he said into the round.

" Now it's time to go."

With these words said, the group began to move, but it became quickly visible that Tala had reached his ultimate Limits. He managed to move a few steps out of the room, but then he collapsed to his knees and began to spill out a lot of blood. Tasida, who was walking in front of him together with Steven, saw that and wanted to help him, but Tala shouted over to her before she was able to turn around.

" NO !!!! BRING HIM OUT !!! I WILL BE RIGHT BEHIND YOU !!! I PROMISE IT !!!"

At that moment, Tala saw that she was looking at him with her open Eyes, and he began to wish that he would be able to see them for only this time. So he was only able to see them with his Aura, and he was also able to see that she was deeply fearing that she would lose him. He loved to see that, but his fear was to save them both. So he again shouted over a short.

" MOVE !!!"

And luckily, the two began to move.

Together with the Boy, Tasida ran down the stairs, heading straight for the exit, but they didn't come far because a piece of the floor roof had given in and was now blocking their way. Quickly, she looked around and saw that a window in a room next to them was standing open. There she went next and once they reached, she said to the Boy.

" Now give me your friend and climb outside."

The Boy followed as ordered. Once he was outside, she gave him the Growlithe back but once she wanted to turn around to go to get Tala, she was caught in place. Someone was suddenly using a psychic attack against her. An attack which caused her to fly backwards and out of the window. Once she landed outside, she saw that an Espeon had used the attack and that this Espeon belonged to no other than Sebastian, who was standing next to it.

" Why haveyou done this ?" She asked him angrily.

" It's my job to save people and Pokémon in need." He answered.

" But.... Tala is.... In there...... and needs.... Some help..... He is....injured heavily."

" I know. Joy has told me all."

" Then why... You are not.... Going to.... Help him ?"

" It's too dangerous to go in there now. The hole building is about to collapse any moment now."

" But he needs help !!!" Her Voice became more angrily and at the same time more perfectly somehow.

" He is on his own now. We cannot help him and he knows it. Trust me."

" TA !!!! I'm going in to save him." Tasida got up from the ground and turned around to run towards the Center, but before she could move, she felt a hard strike on her back of the head and got knocked out in place. While she faded, she heard Sebastian saying.

" I'm so sorry. But I cannot let you go. He would never be happy again if you would get killed or just wounded."
