#9 of Mystic CIty

I'm back!!!! Somewhat. Still have massive writer's block but figured I put something up. This has been in my folder for a bit and finally got around to straightening it out to make it look presentable. Haven't added anything to this series for a bit cause I was focused on Forbidden Pleasures. For those that are waiting for the next Forbidden Pleasures, bare with me a bit longer and you shall get another chapter. But for now, enjoy another chapter of the brothers doing what they do best, annoying people and getting the job done that most people can't. Comments always welcomed good or bad

Rick was in a chamber in the Lexicon Building, much like a gymnasium, with reinforced and heavily warded walls, but he was not alone. Charging towards him was a blazing figure of flames, six feet tall, and almost as broad at what passed for it's shoulders. The young wolf ducked neatly to his left, narrowly avoiding a burning fist as it swung by where his head had been a split second before. His lips twisted into a grim smile as he raised his hand, gathering power rapidly in his palm.

"My turn."

The power exploded from his hand, ripping into the elemental and blasting it back against the opposite wall where the flames composing its body dissipated, leaving naught but the aroma of smoke in the air.

"Come on. At least summon something that's going to test my abilities, will ya? I need to push myself if I am going to get any better!"

He sounded a little annoyed as he looked up towards the observation platform where the summoner he had roped into assisting him with his training was standing. Little did he know however, that the summoner wasn't going to be alone up there for long. Behind the summoner, the entrance opened and Amon stepped in, looking to be curious.

"So, what's going on?" he asked the summoner.

"Alucard's nephew. He roped me into summoning creatures for him to kick the crap out of, but nothing I can call is strong enough for him. He takes them down in moments," the summoner grumbled ready to summon something.

To this Amon chuckled, rubbing his chin for a moment.

"Okay, summon the strongest creature you can. And if he takes it down too quickly, I'll take over for you. If he wants a real challenge, I'll give him one."

Down in the training area, Rick had moved across to stand near a wall looking up to the platform.

"Come on already!"

"Just a moment. I'm going to give you my best. Also, Amon's here with me. If I can't give you what you need, he'll take over."

To this, Rick's features contorted into a grimace. He didn't trust that idea one bit.

"Okay, I guess."

Taking up a ready fighting position, he saw the distinct haze of magic starting to coalesce as the summoner called the creature. Tall and slender with arachnoid proportions, the beast emerged, fixing Rick with eight glittering, gem-like eyes.

"A dimension weaver? I'm slightly impressed. Now let's see how tough this thing is."

The creature thrust forwards with a claw-tipped extremity, narrowly missing Rick's right wing as he spun to one side. He gestured for a moment as a shimmering blade of white light formed in his hand.

"Ok, here we go."

Leaping towards the weaver, strands of gossamer light spewed from it's maw trying to ensnare Rick. But they were all deflected by some unseen force surrounding the young wolf.

"You have to do better than that!"

Slashing with his blade rapidly, he lopped off two clawed limbs in rapid succession before he even touched the ground where he spun in place with a horizontal slash, neatly beheading the creature.

"Alright Amon! Let's see what you've got!"

"I think you better leave," Amon said to the summoner with a evil smirk that sent shivers down his spine. "You want a challenge boy, you got it. See if you can handle THIS!"

With a deafening roar, the space behind Rick was rent open as a huge, flaming demonic figure emerged in response to Amon's summons. Turning around slowly, Rick's jaw dropped open.

"You have gotta be shitting me! You're trying to kill me, you bastard Amon! A damned Balor!" Diving to his left, the wolf barely avoided the lashing whip of the demon as he narrowed his eyes, "Fine, I guess it's time to get serious!" Slamming his fist into the ground he send a pulse of magic out and the Balor found itself flung up into the air "Reverse Gravity!"

This gave Rick a chance and he knew he couldn't afford to waste it. Gathering his power, four utterly black orbs of magic formed in front of him which he hurled at the Balor, sending the demon slamming backwards into the wall with a sickening crunch. Now Rick rushed forward, hoping to be able to deliver a fatal strike with the gleaming blade of light in his hand. But the Balor recovered more rapidly than he anticipated, lashing out with a monstrous fist to knock him to the floor.

Getting to his feet quickly, Rick narrowed his eyes as the Balor advanced upon him, it's leonine visage twisted into a bestial snarl. Taking a swift, deep breath he then breathed out a stream of ice at the demon causing it to roar in pain and surprise before it disappeared in a swirl of flames teleporting away. Seeing the teleportation, Rick cursed under his breath, reaching with his powers to trace where the creature had gone before himself disappearing in a flash of light as he teleported after it. Above on the platform, Amon simply chuckled at the situation.

"Well well, perhaps the boy's stronger than I thought. I'd best keep an eye on him."

At the police station, Irons was receiving report after report which was almost enough to make him panic.

"Get a hold of the Miller's! I know they have a day off, but this is more important! "

"Yes sir," Susan said dialing the number. "I have Russell on the line now."

On the other end of the phone Russell answered, and understandably he wanted to know what was going on to be disturbed on his day off which he rarely gets.

"What's up sir? It's our day off. You know we barely have any."

"Sorry about that Miller, but you and your brother have to get to the park. We're getting reports of a damned BALOR on the rampage! Somebody's apparently trying to fight it, but the situation needs to be contained, and you two are the only ones good enough."

"You have got to be shittin' me sir. Ok, I'll get Dan. Damn, so much for a day off. "

Putting the phone down, Russ sighed as he turned to Angel, who was lightly dozing but stirred awake,

"Mmm, what is it Russell? You look grim," she said rubbing her eyes to get the sleep out.

"I have to call Dan and get to the park. There's reports of a Balor there and somebody trying to fight it."

This caused Angel to snap to full alertness as she jumped out of the bed to hurriedly get dressed,

"Ok, if somebody summoned a Balor, that's really bad news. But who the hell could be fighting it?"

"I don't know. But they probably won't last long, so we'd better hurry if we don't want civilians getting hurt."

Dialing the phone quickly Russ called Dan who sounded annoyed as he answered.

"What is it man? I'm busy, you know?" Dan snapped as Russ heard a girl shriek before saying don't touch me there.

"Sorry bro, but we gotta get to the park. There's a damned Balor there fighting somebody apparently. But we gotta go contain the situation. Come armed and meet me there."

"A fucking Balor!? Em, we gotta go, I'm sorry. Some fucker's gonna die for pulling this shit."

Hanging up the phone, Dan and Russ both got themselves dressed and picked up the weapons they thought they would need to contain and destroy a Balor. Most notably a shoulder-mounted missile launcher system and a high-powered assault rifle. Then they set off to get to the park. What they found there however, they were not prepared for.

The scene that met their eyes was difficult for them to believe. Understandably, most of the civilians who had been in the area had run for their lives. They didn't want to stick around with a massive demonic creature like the Balor on the loose. What was still there however was the Balor, staggering as a silvery form darted about around it, almost too fast for the eye to follow. The form darted towards the Balor, seemingly striking it with great force, knocking it backwards before the figure flipped back, raising a blade for a moment before it dashed in again. In that moment, the brothers could get a clearer look at who it was. It was an all too familiar figure, a wolf with silvered, leathery wings, and a great crest of horns. Seeing Rick locked in combat with the Balor, the brothers looked at each other with a groan.

"Should've known this asshole would be involved somehow," Dan grunted. "I should've took him out at that whore house when I had the chance. But no you said."

"He helped take out those spider bitches. We had no reason to," Russ snapped back.

"And look what he's doing now? Fighting with a damn Balor in the middle of the park."

"Stop arguing and get ready," Russ growled.

They watched in awe at the wolf's speed as he zipped in and out. Even as he was knocked back by the demon, he launched right back at it snarling loudly. In the corner of his eye, he spotted the brothers and let out a grunt.

"If you guys aren't going to help me stop this thing, either fuck off or put up a barrier!"

Suddenly, the demon jumped back from the wolf, lashing out at him with the flaming whip in its left hand, snagging his leg and slamming him into the ground. Following this, it laughed darkly, raising its other hand before hurling a massive orb of flame at Rick, only to open its eyes wide, dropping to the ground in surprise as it bounced right back at it.

Feeling Rick's magical energy suddenly rising at a frightening rate as he rose to his feet. Daniel and Russ looked to each other, nodding as they enclosed the area in a strong magical barrier.

"This looks bad Dan, get ready."

"I really hate this shit," Dan grunted.

Russell frowned but he had to agree with his brother. They both glowed as a large, transparent dome covered the area. While that was happening, Rick raised his hands, a swirling orb of silvery liquid formed in the air, before hurling it at the demon. The Balor roared in pain and surprise as the liquid splashed over its body, freezing its flesh on contact. Taking the opportunity this afforded him, Rick charged at the demon, smashing his fist through its chest with a roar and ripping it back out as the creature fell to the floor. As he started to turn, the body exploded in a violent conflagration, slamming him to the floor and searing his flesh and fur. As the flames died down, Russell and Daniel could only watch as Rick collapsed, losing consciousness.

Almost immediately following the wolf's loss of consciousness, Russ and Dan dropped the barrier, hurrying to his side. Rick laid there with numerous burns on him as Dan checked for a pulse pressing two fingers to his neck. It was faint and very weak.

"We need to get him to the hospital now."

"Hospital?" Russell asked almost with a look that said, 'You have got to be kidding.' "If we get him to a hospital, we'll never get answers as to who this guy is. He'll vanish as will all the medical records."

Pulling out his radio he began to put in a call to the SNDU as Dan overheard him putting in a call for the trauma unit. On consideration for he understood why Russell was being so overly cautious. Anyone who could take down such a demon warranted some serious caution. As he made sure that Rick was stable, Russell went to push people back and keep them away from Rick.

It took maybe five minutes before reinforcements and support began to show up as Irons was there of all people as the officers began to cordon off the area. The SNDU trauma team was arrived on the scene. He had heard about the new team a few weeks ago and put no credit into it getting made. But Irons had convinced the mayor of it's importance, With the paramedics coming over, it would allow them to get Rick to a location where they could treat and keep an eye on him while they investigated him. Dan took a step back to allow the EMTs to get to work on further stabilizing Rick. Irons took a quick look at him before walking over to the brothers

"Please be there, please be there," Russell said as Irons began to approach ready to ask a question as he lifted up a finger. "Ah Judge Celeste? Yes, this is Russell Miller SNDU."

That made Dan take a quick step back. Celeste was the highest judge in the state, one who owed the Miller's a favor. She was a beautiful German shepherdess in her late thirties who had always found Russell hot to trot. The brothers had rescued one of her cubs from a cult who intended to brainwash the child. To date, they had never called in their debt with her. Over hearing Russell explain the situation to her, he told her of the Possession and safety law. It was something Dan had never heard of. Or he probably did and just never cared to bother with it. Russ asked her to sign an order to allow the police to hold Rick for ten days, seven at the least to ensure he was not possessed by a demonic spirit. He also needed her to run interference with the Red Courts and the Faction wanting them to keep their hands off this guy. That got a shout on the other end of the phone making Russell pull the phone away.

"The Red Courts and the Faction!?" was what Dan heard, "Look I will consider it a favor I owe you."

Dan and Irons looked at each other as Russell over heard the reply as his ears laid back,

"Yes yes," Russell said. "Yes, I will be there. When? Oh, Ok. Yes, yes." Then with ears laid down he hung up, "Don't ask but we can hold him for ten days. Let's get him to the Trauma unit." Russell said as a blush was clearly visible in his ears. Emily and Angel began to catch up as Russell turned to them. "Get in contact with Merlin and the White Council. We are going to need some additional protection if this guy goes nuts," as he began to head off.

Emily and Angel looked to Irons, and then Dan as he rubbed the back of his head.

"The judge has the hots for him for the longest," Dan said almost sheepishly.

That made Emily giggle. Angel at first was a little dumbfounded, and then she blushed before following Russell as he was getting into the EMT Transport.

"You did what?!" Alucard almost roared out at Amon. Alucard was in the middle of a rage that normally left subordinates dead. "Let me get this straight. Rick continued to destroy the summoned creatures easily. So you decided to take it upon yourself and summon a Balor Tanar'ri, which then escaped from the containment which wasn't rated for that level of monstrosity, and Rick went out after it?"

Alucard was holding Amon by his shirt collar over a large vat of acid. It wasn't the ultra powerful ones that dissolved flesh instantly. No, it was a weak acid designed to slowly eat away flesh that could take hours to kill someone.

"Why am I keeping you alive Amon?" he said baring his teeth and fangs.

As Amon dangled over the pit of acid, he looked down holding onto Alucard's arm as Ginyu watched with amusement. The fact that Alucard hadn't already dropped him into the vat, told Ginyu that Alucard already had plans and Amon was part of them. Which when completed, would mostly likely kill Amon. And if he survived, Alucard would personally kill him then. Assuming Ginyu was not given that pleasure.

With murderous eyes, Alucard tossed Amon across the room through a door.

"The only reason you still live is I have some use for you yet. If Rick has been killed, your life is forfeit." the words came from a fairly calm Alucard and then he looked to Ginyu, "Find him get him back here now!"

Finally having gotten Rick to the infirmary Russ sighed and shook his head in thought.

"This is some crazy shit. How powerful IS this guy? It took us twenty minutes to get there from the chief calling us. Was he just waiting for us to arrive? Not to mention how his magic spiked before he killed it. "

"I don't know, but it seemed like it. But WHY would he risk that? How much did it take to keep the Balor there? And to prevent it from summoning any help? The only reason I can think of for him to have waited, is to make sure the explosion was contained. But if that's why he waited to finish it, it makes no sense," Dan said with a shrug.

"But thinking on it, apart from us, has he actually ever been known to hurt anyone? Everything he's done, it's been to get at us," Russ's brow furrowed as he thought, "I'm just glad nobody else was hurt by that Balor. It could have been a really bad situation."

Michelle and Evan were at the park as Michelle was in a silent, seething rage. Listening to the reports of the Millers containing the explosive blast of a Balor Tanar'ri, and then absconding with the one individual that had held it there single handedly. For the most part, she ignored the details of the damage reports. Her focus was instead on getting hold of this wolf-dragon. If someone that strong can stand up to a Balor, he needed to be contained. And could be useful against the Millers if 'persuaded' the right way.

"Find out where the boy is who killed the Balor. Retrieve him and bring him to the stronghold," She commanded one of her subordinates.

"Yes ma'am.

After a few minutes on the phone, the man came back before speaking.

"The SNDU's new Trauma unit has the boy."

"What's his name?"

"Richard Drakesun."

She let out a humph before heading to back to the car as Evan looked at her.

"Where are you going?"

She stopped as the bear opened the limo car door and looked at him.

"Time to pay the SNDU a visit. And retrieve this person."

"When you withdrew the Faction from the treaty, we lost the ability to take him into custody legally," Evan spoke up before walking over.

"They don't know that. Plus those brothers are too stupid to investigate that sort of thing, much less understand all the nuances."

"If you say so," Evan said as he recalled how severely he had underestimated Russell.

At the White Council, Russell and Dan went to see Merlin. The events of the park with Rick had given them a lot of questions. And they felt that, considering how much he knew about other things, he was likely the best person to turn to for answers. Especially Rick's fixation on locating Merlin. As was so often the case, Sanzo stood before them barring their way.

"I'm sorry, but Merlin is busy. You need you come back later, unless it's a life or death emergency."

"Two words Sanzo. Balor Tanar'ri," Russ scowled angrily.

This simple statement made Sanzo's eyes widen in horror as he stepped aside.

"Point made, go right in."

As Russell and Dan entered Merlin's office, they discovered that he was not alone. He was sitting and talking to what appeared to be an older gentleman dressed in an extremely neat silver suit, complete with a black shirt and silver tie. His hair was silver grey, and neatly trimmed, as was his beard. Hearing the brothers entering, Merlin turned, and as he saw who it was he smiled.

"Ah, Russell and Daniel, come in. There is somebody I would like for you to meet. Lukas, this is Russell and Daniel Miller. Russell, Daniel, this is Lukas Midnight. He is the elder of the Midnight Carnival. You did know it will be arriving in the city in a couple of weeks?"

Following the brothers being introduced, Lukas got to his feet, holding his hand out in greeting.

"Ah! So you two are the grandchildren Richlene speaks so highly of in her letters! It is good to finally meet you both!"

"It is good to meet you sir," Russ said nodding his head politely. "But it is important that we speak with Merlin. There has been an incident involving a Balor in the city."

Lukas frowned as he heard this, nodding grimly.

"Of course. We can talk again later. I should get back to the Carnival anyway. We still have preparations to make. Another time then!" With a simple flourish, he snapped his fingers, vanishing as he teleported away.

"So, what is this about a Balor, Russell? I can only assume since you are here and not out fighting it that it has already been contained?"

"Not contained. Destroyed by a wolf dragon hybrid by the name of Richard Drakesun," Dan said.

Merlin raised an eyebrow at that before nodding his head.

"I see. So where is this individual?"

"He's being held at our new station underground under lots of seals. I had to call in some favors to keep him there," Russ said. "Thing is, it's not the first contact we have had with him."

"Oh? How have you met before?"

"To put it simply, we've had trouble with him causing trouble. He was trying to force us to tell him where you are. For some reason, he appears to be under the impression that you murdered his family."

"Ahh. I do know of him. Perhaps it is a good idea for us to go and meet him. Shall we?"

The limo came to a stop at the police station as the bear got out and opened the door for Michelle and Evan.

"A shame we're not coming here to seal those bastards magic away," Michelle growled.

"I prefer not remembering coming here in the first place," Evan grumbled remembering how he was humbled before Russ.

They walked into the station to see officers running this way and that. People were at the front desk and talking to clerks about random problems. Michelle walked up to Susan's desk and slammed her hands down making Susan jump from the computer she was focused on.

"I want the Miller brothers and the person they took into custody handed over to me now!!"

Susan looked at her, getting her heart rate back down before glaring at her.

"Rude much are we?"

"I will not say it again. Give me what I asked for."

Having gotten back to the department, Russell had been going over the information that the judge had sent him. For the most part, he had been quiet and moody during the ride. Something that was very Atypical for him as all his focus was on the details. Once the car was parked, Angel and Emily followed behind Dan and Russell as they went into the office and started the paperwork. They put a 'Do not Disturb' sign on their door and had it closed. As he was going over the information, the door was busted open as Michelle and Even stood there. Russ could see the anger in her eyes as she almost started yelling.

"Whenever there is a disaster in this city, you two are always at the center of it!" She said glaring murder. "I'm sick of cleaning up behind you bastards."

Having finally had enough of this bitch, Russell's ears laid down as he bared his canine teeth in a snarl. Only Dan's hand on his shoulder kept Russell from voicing what was on his mind.

"What the hell are you doing here?" Russell snapped at her sharply.

With an air of arrogance Michelle sneered at him. "I'm here to take the individual who dealt with the Balor into protective custody as per treaty stipulations."

"Denied," barked Chief Irons who appeared behind them to see what the commotion was all about. The bark made Michelle turn around fast, not believing what she had heard.

"You have no right to deny us." Michelle said.

"You withdrew from the treaty between the Guilds," Russell barked his eyes actually burning red.

"When you pulled out of the treaty," said Irons. "You lost all legal pretense to make any claim on placing someone in protective custody. I may not know magic intensely like you guys do, but I do know the law."

"I know, I checked." Russell said the fur on the back of his neck and head arched "When The Red Courts, White Council, and your group started bullshitting around, I began to check up and did some reading on the Treaty."

The realization of what had been said left Michelle dumbfounded while Evan seemed to be taking a step back.

"Once you withdrew from the Treaty, any legal position you had with the police are gone," Angel spoke up.

Gritting her teeth, Michelle gave a murderous glare before speaking. "This coming from a slut rabbit sleeping with her charge!"

The accusation, was ended as she gave an evil smirk in Russell's direction. She had said that just to provoke him into attacking. Of course Angel's reply was without missing a beat leaving Michelle in stunned silence.

"And loving every second of it. You should try getting laid yourself. It might help that attitude you have."

And for a moment, if a pin hit the ground it would have been heard as a second later the entire department was in a roar of laughter.

As the words soaked into Russell's head, he realized what Angel had said and burst out laughing right in Michelle's face. Angel pulled Russell away before Michelle could rile him up again as Dan spoke up.

"Hey now, that wasn't smart. Lady, I'm the temperamental one. He's the calm one. Making him honestly lose his temper is not a smart idea. If you think I'm dangerous when I lose my temper, you have no idea what he can do." Dan said looking in the direction of his brother before back to Michelle, "I've never seen my brother really lose his temper. And quite frankly, I don't want to. And neither should you."

Irons walked up and looked both Michelle and Evan in the eyes.

"And as chief of the SNDU, it's my job to know these things as well. Now, unless you are here to deliver a damage cost estimate on the park, I suggest you leave and stop wasting our time."

Michelle stood there dumbfounded as she gritted her teeth, flexing her claws as she recomposed herself. With an almost sinister, sweet smile, she turned around and looked at the doberman.

"You will have the estimates on your desk first thing in the morning. I apologize for this little misunderstanding."

And with that, she turned curtly to walk past Emily and Dan with Evan at her side.

"I did try to warn you about underestimating them," Evan said softly.

Michelle didn't say anything as she got into the limo along with Evan. Once the door closed, she let out an inhuman snarl causing the windows to shatter. Evan just brushed himself as the bear looked in the rear view mirror, eyes showing a little fear.

"Wh.....where to miss?" he stuttered.

"Any fucking where but here. I need to think."

"Yes ma'am."

Alucard sat at his desk, meditation balls twirling in his hands. He saw the report on the news about the Balor attack on the park. Even the video of Rick taking it out, with a little help from the brothers. He gave a smile at the results before a knock was heard as Ginyu walked in.

"Do you find him?" Alucard asked.

"Yes. They are holding him for questioning."

"Well get him back."

"That might be a problem."

Alucard's eyes narrowed at that.

"And why would that be a problem?"

"Cause Russ called upon the highest judge to issue a sort of warrant giving them full custody for ten days."

The balls shattered in his grasp as an inhuman growl escaped.

"Judge!? It was Celeste! It had to be her. No one else would interfere with me. How the hell does she know them? Or the brothers her?"

"Don't know. But if we try anything, the backlash would be bad."

Alucard stood up, dusting his hand free with a grunt.

"Then we have no choice but to wait it out then."

"What if they find out what he really is?

"It wouldn't matter. Once it's all said and done, nothing will matter in the end. In the meantime, get our lawyers ready to get him out."

"Of course Alucard," Ginyu said with a bow before leaving.

Alucard looked at him go before grunting, then giving a sly smirk.

"It doesn't matter how long you delay the inevitable. You all will be mine in the end."

Russ made it down to where they were holding Rick as he entered the room. A feline was trying to apply a heal spell, only to have it backfire back at her making her frown.

"What can we do master Merlin? We can't heal him with whatever is repelling our spells."

"Don't worry about it. He'll heal naturally," Merlin chuckled. "Go and check on my tea if you would be so kind."

"As you wish," the feline said leaving.

Russ watched her leave before looking at the table where a seal was covering a sleeping Rick. He walked over and examined him, noticing his wounds healing very slowing and steadily.

"Who is he Merlin?"

"He is what you see."

"I mean what is he?"

"What does he look like?"

Russ looked at him again before speaking.

"A wolf but with the horns and wings of a dragon."

"Then you would be correct. He is a hybrid."

"Never seen one before. Are they common?"

"Hardly. He was how you say, very unique."

Merlin rubbed his beard before leaning back in the chair he was in before smiling.

"Ha, I remember meeting him and his parents. He was a hyper kid, just like Dan. They have a little bit in common. Except Rick is a little more level headed."

"Can't be that level headed if you are trying to pick a fight with Dan."

"Rick is not the aggressive person you see before you. He is just very passionate about finding his parent's murderer."

"I guess that's understandable."

The nurse came back with Merlin's tea as he thanked her, taking a sip with a smile. Russ looked at him before at Rick. So many questions to ask him but he had to wait. Which he didn't like one bit. When something as powerful as a Balor could be taken out by one person, that person is a prime suspect and very dangerous to the public. His phone vibrated as a message appeared. He looked at it before his ears folded in a blush making Merlin look at him.

"Is there something wrong young one?"

"Nothing," Russ said back quickly. "I need to go. Let me know when he wakes up."

"Of course young one."

Merlin watched him leave before looking at Rick.

"Just like your mother. A shame she couldn't see you grow up."

A shadow watched from the rooftop as the limo pulled to a stop next to a tall building as Michelle, Evan, and their entourage walked up towards the entrance.

"I don't see how this is going to help," Evan said.

"Once Icarus hears about this, he'll see things my way. Just like everyone else should," Michelle growled.

The shadow pulled out a sniper rifle, positioning it on the edge and took aim, relaxing their breath.

"You shouldn't have had the Faction back out of the Treaty. There is probably nothing he can do."

"Don't stop believing in me Evan," Michelle whined. "I'm doing this for the good of everybody."

"I know Michelle," Evan said, caressing her cheek. "But sometimes you do things without thinking."

She folded her ears at this. He was right in a way. She was about to respond when a loud bang followed by a spray of blood splashing her body made them jump. The collie that was next to her had a hole in its head as it dropped to the ground.

"What the fuck!?" Michelle said, shock running through her facial expression.

"Sniper!! Get down," the bear said grabbing Michelle and ducking behind the limo as several more shots followed.

Michelle started to panic as another shot embedded into the body of the limo. The phone in her pocket started to vibrate as she pulled it out with shaky hands before it dropped to the ground on speaker.

"I see you bitch. Come out of your hiding spot and face your punishment."

"Who is this?"

"You don't remember me?" the voice shouted, as it followed with another bang. "You tore my life apart."

More shots were fired as the tires on the limo deflated. There was a pause as the bear peeked out, trying to find the location of the assassin.

"You ruined my life. It's only fitting I ruin yours by taking it," the voice said on the phone with determination.

"We have to get out of here," the bear said. "But there is no shelter between us and Icarus."

"What do we do?" Michelle whined, shaking visibly as her ears folded tightly against her head.

"Create a fog and try to make a run for it."

The bear started chanting, paws glowing lightly. Suddenly, a heavy fog rolled in blanketing the area. Once it fully settled, you couldn't see your hand in front of your face.

"Okay, I'll go first and be a distraction just in case the person knows magic and try to get one of the other cars ready."

Michelle only nodded her head with a whine. The bear gave a smile before standing up and dashing to one of the other cars. As soon as he got to the driver's side door, a loud bang was heard as well as a thump of a body.

"There is no escape bitch. Accept your fate."

"Dammit, that person must have a thermal scanner," Evan grunted. "Don't think there is anything we can do."

"Why are you doing this?" Michelle cried into the phone.

"Because you deserve to have your life stripped from you, just like you did to me."

In the background, police sirens could be heard as Michelle heard the person tsk.

"You got lucky bitch. But I have you in my sights and I won't rest until you are just like my life, dead."

The phone went dead as the fog cleared up. She looked over to see the bear on his back, hole in his head. Tears came down her cheek as Evan stood up careful, eyes scanning the area as the police cars came to a screeching stop and got out.

"Well, whoever was out there is gone now."

He looked down at Michelle before kneeling down and touching her cheek softly as she looked up at him.

"What did I do wrong Evan? Please tell me."

Evan said nothing as he hugged her tightly.

"You've done nothing wrong Michelle. People are just crazy."

A cop came over and spoke up.

"Are you okay miss?"

"She's fine," Evan spoke up. "Just shaken up."

"Okay. Do you want an escort to your home ma'am?"

Michelle stayed quiet but nodded softly. Evan helped her up as they walked over to the squad car and got in. She took one last look at her family dead on the ground as the squad car drove away. The shadow in the dark alley watched her leave before grunting.

"You aren't safe from me bitch. You will pay for ruining my life."

Russ pulled up to a nice two story house as the lights were on. He saw shadows moving about in the house as he killed the engine. Digging in his pocket, he took out his phone and read the text that he got from Celeste.

(You belong to me tonight. Come at nine and make sure you are fully rested. I'm going to work your body til you can't move.)

Russ shivered a little. Celeste may be almost forty, but her body was in great shape from all the working out she did after her pups were born. As he put the phone in his pocket he swallowed. Today was not an enjoyable one for him. First the bull shit with the Balor, then with the Dragon wolf Rick. More questions were raised than answered. Then finally Michelle. Normally the idea of fucking a beautiful female german shepard would have aroused him greatly. But Celeste wanted more from him. She was interested in another pup. And she wanted Russell's pup. Granted Russell wasn't interested in marrying her, she just wanted his seed. And that left him less than eager to give her what she wanted. He eyed the house again as he bit the bullet and got out.

"Can't believe I'm doing this."

He walked up the short flight of stairs to the front door, pausing at the door bell. His ears picked up the slight sound of humming coming from inside. With a shaky paw, he reached up and rang the bell.

"Just a minute," her smooth voice answered.

The door opened as Celeste stood there in a very revealing see through lingerie. Russ stood there, heavy blush on his cheeks as he looked at the beautiful lady in front of him.

"Just in time my wolf in shining armor," Celeste said with a lustful voice. "Come in and make yourself at home. You'll be here for a while."

Russ folded his ears, tail between his legs as he walked past her, jumping with a yip as she pinched his butt. He was about to take a seat on the couch when she stopped him.

"Not there silly boy. We're taking this someplace special. Follow me."

She walked down the hall, tail wagging happily. Russ followed behind her. Some part of him was a little bit excited while another part dreaded it. She opened the door she stopped at and walked in. Russ looked in and found a large queen size bed in the middle of the room. Candles gave the room a nice romantic touch as she took a seat before laying down on the bed on her side.

"Come on then Russ, give me what I want," she said in a deep seductive growl.

"Michelle, you know it's not safe for you to be out like this," Evan said trying to stop her.

"I'm not gonna let some jackass hold me hostage with fear. I have a job to do," Michelle said with a bit of determination.

"Stubborn to the end," Evan said shaking his head. "At least take a few bodyguards with you."

"I don't want nobody else dying for me. I can handle myself."

Evan grunted before slamming his hand on the wall blocking her path.

"Stop being so stubborn!"

Michelle looked up at him before down at the ground. Evan sighed before hugging her.

"I don't want anything to happen to you."

"Have faith in me Evan," she said softly before letting go.

Evan watched her go before balling his fists. Michelle hopped in her car before heading off to the Faction headquarters. Her mind kept going back to yesterday. Who was out to get her and why? She stopped at a light, paws tense on the steering wheel. A loud bang made her jump and duck down.

"You idiot. Why don't you be more careful," a worker said yelling at another guy on top of a scaffold.

Michelle got her breathing back to normal before giving the car some gas. Her phone vibrated in her pocket as she pulled it out.

"Michelle Connors speaking."

"You thought you could get away from me, bitch?"

She tenses up at that voice, a soft whine escaping her.

"What do you want? Who are you?"

"I want you dead for what you did to me."

"What are you talking about? What did I do?"

"A shame you don't remember. It doesn't matter. You'll still die. Now, hold still."

That made her tense up before the windshield shattered sending glass inside the car. She let out a yelp as she turned the car sharply, hearing the honking of cars as she slammed into the curb, hitting a lamp post. Her head was shaken as people started knocking on the door. A chuckle from the phone on the floor made her stir.

"Ahh, poor baby. Did that hurt? Well it's nothing compared to what you did to me. But don't worry. I'll make you feel all better."

She stumbled out the car just as another shot imbedded into the head cushion where her head was briefly. People heard the shots and started running in terror. She crawled behind the car just as another shot hit the ground.

"You don't know how much fun this is."

Michelle heard another shot as the front window shattered, raining glass on her making her whine. Sirens were heard in the background as she heard the man tsk angrily.

"Saved again by your friends. But you can't hide from me forever."

The phone went dead as the cops screeched to a halt. A cougar jumped out and ran towards Michelle who was shivering, curled into a ball. She let out a yelp as the cougar touched her shoulder gentle causing her to lash out as he grabbed her hand.

"Ma'am, calm yourself. It's me, Larry."

Michelle looked at him before burying her muzzle into his chest. He held her tightly as the police walked over.

"Are you hurt ma'am?"

She shook her head softly no.

"This is the second time somebody tried to kill you ma'am. Maybe it's time to think about staying indoors and away from windows?" Larry suggested softly.

"I can't. I have to do my Guild duties. I don't want to seem weak either," she whined.

"Guild responsibilities don't take over what happens with your life."

She sat there thinking about it before closing her eyes.

"I know," she said, opening her eyes before looking up at Larry. "Will you stay with me?"

"As you wish ma'am."

"Thank you Larry."

The rest of the day went off without a hitch as Larry accompanied her everywhere she went, ears at attention and eyes scanning everywhere. She felt safe with Larry since he's been with the Faction for as long as she could remember. Night time hit as she exited the Faction's headquarters, files in hand to be delivered to Irons for the park damages. She let out a sigh as she rested in the back seat of the car.

"Damn, still can't believe it's gonna cost that much. Those damn brothers are beginning to be a fucking pain."

"Is there anywhere you wish to stop at before I bring you home?" Larry asked, putting the car in gear.

"Yeah. A liquor store. I need something to drink and bad."

"I know just the place," Larry said with a smile.

She closed her eyes as the hum of the engine was all she could hear. Her mind still trying to figure out who was trying to kill her. Larry pulled up to the curb before stopping.

"I'll be right back ma'am. Is there anything you want?"

"Anything hard."

Larry chuckled at that before walking in. Michelle let out a sigh as she closed her eyes, head leaning back on the seat.

Dan let out a sigh as he shutdown his computer for the night and stretched his muscles. After doing tons of paperwork for the park incident, he was finally done. Emily already left and said she'll be waiting for him in the bed to ease the tension. That made him smile just thinking about it. His hands flowing through that soft fur and kissing those soft, muzzle lips.

"Better grab some wine to make the mood better."

Grabbing his jacket, he went down the stairs to the front desk where Susan was as she gave him a smile.

"All done for the night?"

"Finally. Gonna hit the liquor store and grab some wine."

"Typical Daniel," she said rolling her eyes. "Have a good night."

Dan nodding before hitting the garage and jumping into the car. Starting it up, he headed towards Arthur's store, hoping he had his rum in stock. It didn't take him long since it was night and everyone was home. He pulled up on the curb, killing the engine and getting out. He did a double take at who was in the car in front of him.

"Wonder what the hell she's doing here?"

They actually looked at each other, Michelle giving him a death glare as Dan just smirked. He walked into the store to see Arthur talking on the phone.

"Arthur my man, how's it hanging?"

"Oh, it's just you. Your stuff in the back row."

"Outstanding."

He walked to the back to see a cougar talking on the phone. He only caught the last bit of the conversation as he grabbed a few bottle of his favorite rum.

"She's in the car. You won't get another shot like this. You better finish it this time."

The cougar looked at him, giving him a sneer before hanging around the back. Dan walked up to the front counter, still looking at the cougar.

"Who's the muscle back there?"

"No clue. But he's been here for the last ten minutes just looking around and not buying anything. If he doesn't buy something soon, I'm kicking his ass out."

Dan chuckled before paying for his drinks and heading out the door. He made it to his car before tensing sharply hearing a barely audible click. His eyes scanned the area, looking high and low. A car door opened as Michelle got out.

"Larry, are we going to go or what?" she shouted.

Dan saw the muzzle flash as he dashed over and grabbed Michelle, pulling her down just as the window shattered.

"What the fuck?" she yelped.

"A simple thank you would suffice," Dan said, peeking around the car.

Her phone rang as she picked it up.

"Another victim for me to shoot huh? It doesn't matter who protects you. I'll kill everybody that gets in my way of revenge."

"You can kill him if you want. It'll save me the trouble," Michelle barked back as Dan eyed her.

Another shot embedded into the car making Dan flinch.

"I should leave your ass just for that, but my duty as a cop comes first," Dan said angrily. "Who's trying to kill you, not that I care."

"I don't know. All they said was I ruined their life."

"Big shocker there," Dan said sarcastically, holding his hand up as a mirror appeared. He used it to see where the shooter was by using the muzzle flash. "Seems like whoever is trying to kill you is in the building about a block from here. And is a damn good shot."

Dan dug into his pocket and fished out his car keys, hitting the auto start button as it came to life. He still loved the new car the president allowed him to get, and for free no less.

"I don't want to risk bullet holes in my new car, so I'll distract the shooter. Get in the passenger side and I'll get you out of here."

"I don't take orders from nobody. Especially an asshole like you," Michelle growled.

"Then feel free to try and get out of here by yourself then."

Another shot shattered the back window of her the car as glass rained down on them. She let out a soft whine before looking at Dan.

"We can't leave Larry."

As if on cue, Larry walked out and frowned seeing Michelle still alive along with someone else.

"Larry, get down!!" Michelle said.

"He can't do anything right can he? I gave him the perfect opportunity and he blew it."

"What......are you talking about Larry?" Michelle asked, eyes going wide.

Larry chuckled before crossing his arms.

"How do you think he knew where you were every time?"

"You.....told him? But why?"

"Because your uncaring ass needs to die. You sterilized my sister because you thought she was a necromancer which was proven false. You don't give a damn about anything or anyone."

"I agree with you on that one," Dan spoke up.

Michelle folded her ears letting out a whine.

"I'm trying to make the city safe for everyone."

"Save the sob story bitch. As for you, whoever you are, I suggest you leave the bitch be."

"Can't do that. I'm an SNDU officer swore to protect the public, not matter what the situation is."

Larry's phone rang as he answered it.

"Yes? Do what you want. Just make sure not to kill the cop. Or better yet I'll handle it."

Dan looked at Larry before Michelle. He could see the sorrow in her eyes and it almost made her look like sane. And for that slight second, a twinge of pity ran through Dan. Looking up, he saw Larry reach behind his back for something. Not even giving him a chance, he thrusted his hand forward, blasting Larry backwards towards the wall.

"We have to get out of here."

She looked at him with a shocked expression.

"You would risk your life for me? Even after all I've done?"

"It's my job," Dan said peeking out as a shot was fired right was his face peeked out making him duck back in. "Okay, whoever this person is, is damn good. I'll cover you. Just head for the car."

Michelle was hesitant, but nodded. Dan took a breath before looking at the mirror again. He had to angle this good. A passing car produced enough light to see the person in a window. Grabbing his gun, he drew it and started to fire, making the sniper duck back in as the bullets shattered the window he was using.

"GO!!"

Michelle got up and hurried to the car, hopping in the front. Dan kept firing while backing up. A beep caught his attention as he turned around, barely ducking in time as a steel pipe flew over his head. Reacting quickly, he spun and struck Larry right in the groin making him yelp in pain. He jumped into the driver side, gun still firing at the window as he gunned it down the street and turning the corner. Larry let out a mewl of pain before getting to his feet, tears going down his cheeks as his phone rang.

"What?" he snarled.

"Good job you inept bastard."

"Fuck you. If you'd have taken her out at Icarus's place, this wouldn't be happening."

A grunt was heard before the voice spoke again.

"Do you know who that person was?"

"No. But he'll be a problem."

"A big problem. He somehow heard my gun before I was able to take her out. Find out who he is and let's finish this."

"No need to tell me twice," Larry said hanging up. "You won't get far bitch. I'll make sure you suffer for what you did to my sister."

Rick started to stir softly before opening his eyes slowly with a soft whine. He tried to remember what happened as his mind came back to focus. The last thing he remembered was fighting the Balor in the park.

"I see you are finally up young one."

His ears perked at the voice before turning to see Merlin sitting on a chair by the wall, cup of tea in his hand.

"Who are you? Where am I?" he growled.

"You are in a containment field in the SNDU."

Rick took a look around, noticing the field around the bed he was laying on. He got up slowly on shaky legs before walking to the field and placing a paw on it. It gave him a strong jolt making him recoil.

"Alright, so who are you?"

Merlin was quiet before closing his eyes.

"The one you seek."

Rick cocked his head in confusion before it hit him, teeth bared and hackles raised.

"Merlin? It was you who killed my parents!"

The murderer of his parents was practically inches from his paws and he couldn't do anything. Nothing but intense hatred could be seen in his eyes as Merlin looked into them, a sad expression on his face.

"You look so much like your mother," Merlin said softly.

"You would know since you killed her and my father."

Merlin sighed before snapping his fingers, causing the field around Rick to be dispersed. Rick looked confused at that before looking at him.

"Why?"

"You want to avenge your parents. Now is your chance."

"No. Vengeance is not what I want. I would rather you were arrested. Killing you won't bring back what I have lost. Bringing you to justice..... if you really are the one who killed them. That is what they would want. But your actions now don't make sense. "

Merlin smiled at that before sipping his tea.

"Would you care for something to drink?"

Rick looked at him curiously before sitting back on the bed.

"Is this a trick?"

"Nonsense young one," Merlin chuckled before ringing a bell as a cheetah walked in. "Bring the young one some tea."

"Of course Merlin."

"Could you make it white, with two sugars, please?"

The cheetah nodded before walking away. Rick turned his attention to Merlin who just smiled. It was then something clicked in his head.

"You were the one who gave me that folder weren't you?"

Merlin just smiled at that.

"A lot of help that did. All it did was give me more questions then answers."

"I gave you everything you needed young one. Surely something should've clicked by now."

"There were a lot of things that didn't make sense. Not least of which is a matter of basic biology. Hybrids like me are unheard of. A child is always the same species as their mother."

"True. But it was a blessing that you were born. Your parents would've been so proud and happy at how you turned out."

The cheetah came back with the tea and walked hesitantly over to Rick. He gave a smile and took the tea making her blush a little before walking out. He took a sip with a murr before focusing back on Merlin.

"How did you know my parents? There is obvious some history between you and them along with my uncle."

"Your mother was a beautiful lady. Well loved and a wonderful sense of humor. I met her during a meeting of sorts. She always had a feisty temper which apparently rubbed off in you."

Merlin sat back and rubbed his beard in thought.

"What me and your 'uncle' have goes back years. To bothersome to worry about to be honest."

"Hmm, that actually explains a lot. What about the brothers?"

"Daniel and Russell are both cops, and damn good at what they do. A real shame you got on Dan's bad side. He is one to never let a grudge go."

Ricks ears folded a little at that.

"That was never my intention. All I ever wanted was the information I needed. I must bring my parents murderer to justice."

"As would anybody else in your position. But what you know now, is more than enough."

Rick was gonna ask what that meant when he shivered.

"I feel odd for some reason. Ever since I woke up, something hasn't felt right."

"Yeah, I know that feeling. Hazy mind, sick to your stomach. Yep, those were good college days," Merlin laughs.

Rick gives a slight growl before speaking.

"No, not that kind of sick. Like some kind of spell is broken that I don't know about."

"A few of Sanzo's drinks could make you lose control of your magic as well. I keep telling him not to make it so strong."

"Except I don't drink."

"Not yet young one. But, if you want to get on Dan's good side, you better have a strong stomach," Merlin said with a smile, sipping his drink again.

Rick chuckled at that surprisingly.

"Maybe in a few years. You do know I'm not legal yet right?"

"Dan's a cop. He'll let it slide."

"Wouldn't put it past him. But that's not it though."

Merlin smiled before crossing his leg.

"You'll get use to it. It is your first time using your true form."

"True form? What the hell are you talking about? I've always been in this form."

"Everything in due time young one. But like I said, you'll get use to it. And when you do, it'll be like riding a bicycle."

"I see," Rick said, drinking his tea. "Shall we talk about my mother then? I want to know everything you can tell me about her."

Merlin smiled at that.

"Ah yes, beautiful Alice. She was beautiful. People tried their hardest to make her look at them, but your father stood out. She had an aura about her that was something else."

"I've only seen pictures of her sadly. I saw that she was a dragon, but I haven't seen any other dragons around."

"Because they don't want to be seen. Your mother, and the Miller's mother had extremely high magic, even at a young age."

Merlin went quiet before continuing. "And like the Miller's mother, she was hunted also."

"You mentioned my mother and the Miller's together. Did they know each other?"

"Of course. Heck, I was there when you all were born. Ha, technically, I'M your Godfather," Merlin laughed.

Rick looked at him before his ears folded.

"You're.....kidding right?"

"Of course," Merlin chuckled. "But I was there. Man, you and Dan were feisty little things, just like your mothers. Your father's were nowhere near the troublemakers you two were."

"What was my father like? He was a scientist right?"

"Smarter than most of the people in the government today. Thus the reason why your uncle wanted him. He could come up with things nobody else could. Give him time and the resources, he could come up with anything. He could scare me at times with his thinking."

Rick nodded at that, finishing his tea before placing the cup down on the small table.

"What do you know about.....the lab incident?"

"Nothing much really. But I do know your father knew what your uncle was planning. That was something he wasn't counting on. Thus the lab incident."

"But why leave me alive then. Unless....."

The realization dawned on Rick as his eyes widen. Merlin watched as the truth slowly started to make its way into his mind.

"And now you have the truth young one. What you plan to do with it, is up to you. But don't act in haste. Knowledge is power, which is something your uncle has a lot of."

It was silent until a knock was heard at the door. Merlin turned to see Emily standing there. Her eyes drifted towards Rick as she let out a soft growl which Rick ears folded to.

"Your meeting is soon Master Merlin. Sanzo is outside with the car awaiting you."

"Thank you dear," Merlin said getting up. He looked at Rick before walking over and patting his shoulder as he looked up at him.

"I wasn't lying when I said your parents would be proud of you. You carry on in their place with pride. Let that be your focus."

With that said, he left as Emily looked at Rick, ears folded and baring her teeth a little.

"I haven't forgotten what you did to me back at the tournament."

"You have every right to be angry at me. I apologize wholeheartedly," Rick said, head bowed and ears folded.

Emily seemed to relax a little as her tails twitched.

"Fine. I guess I can forgive you. Dan on the other hand, will not be as forgiving."

"Understandable. I will do what I can to gain that trust."

"Good luck. In the meantime, you have a visitor."

Avhi hurried in before tackling Rick on the bed, head buried in his chest.

"I'll let you two catch up. I have paperwork to do."

"So where the hell are we?" Michelle asked looking around.

Dan took her to an old neighborhood that was pretty much deserted and waiting to be torn down. Only a few people lived there and was a perfect place to hide out. Dan led her to a house and opened the door.

"Get in. Nobody lives here anymore."

Michelle looked at him before around the area.

"So we're breaking and entering now?"

"No. Just place use to belong to my friend before he moved. I just happened to never get rid of the key. Now get in!"

Michelle let out a growl before walking in. Dan looked around himself before walking in and closing the door. The place only had a sofa and a small fridge as Dan took a seat. Luckily, he grabbed a bottle of his favorite drink and screw the top off before taking a swig with a happy sigh.

"Alright, let's start from the top. Who is after you and why?"

Michelle paced back and forth, arms crossed and head bowed as she tried to remember.

"What did Larry mean when you sterilized his sister?"

"I thought she was a necromancer. There were plenty of reports citing her at spots of dark magic and performing rituals."

"Did you actually go and see for yourself?"

"No."

Dan shook his head before leaning back.

"No wonder nobody likes you. You take everything everybody says at face value without checking all the facts."

Michelle looked at him with a growl before walking to the window.

"You would never make a good cop. There would be so many lawsuits against you it wouldn't even be funny. So that's the cougar out the way. What about the sniper?"

"I don't know."

"Well you better remember. Cause from what I saw, they are hell bent on putting a bullet between your eyes."

She looked into the night sky, memories flying through her head until finally that voice started to ring a bell.

"It can't be," she said, muzzle open in shock.

"Who is it?"

"Justin Cage. He used to work for the Faction before......"

She went quiet as Dan watched, sipping his drink causally.

"Before?"

"Before I.....took his pride away."

Dan looked at her curiously.

"Pride away? You mean like magic?"

"Not only his magic. But his.....penis."

Dan spit out his drink and looked at her in shock.

"Are you serious?"

She nodded her head and closed her eyes.

"This time I did do the investigation myself and found out he was dealing a drug called Spirit."

"I heard of that. It's a drug that enhances your sex drive, but enlarges your manhood. Not a very popular drug cause of the side effects which were the lost of said manhood."

"Well he found a way to negate that side effect and made tons of money. Me and Evan caught him red handed at a club as he was dealing."

She closed her eyes remembering that night.

"I told him since he wanted to dabble in that kind of shit, that he should suffer like the other people before him suffered."

"And then you took his banana and grapes?"

"Yes."

"Boy, no wonder he wants to kill you. I would want to kill you after that. You just love to shit on people."

She whipped her head around and growled at him.

"You don't understand. I have a job to do which is preserve and negate the damage between the guilds and fix whatever damage we cause. But when you two came along, that became impossible because everyday you two had destroyed something."

"And like we said at that stupid meeting, we are always the first ones at the scene to clean up what we did. You think we like destroying stuff? We try not to use high levels of magic cause of our surroundings," Dan snapped back. "And sometimes, it isn't even us who does the damage."

"But you two are involved regardless of the situation. You need to learn self control. Including you," she pointed at Dan with a snarl. "Seventy five percent of the damage is done by your hands."

Dan went quiet. She was right on that account. So he did something which shocked her as he stood up and looked at her.

"I'm sorry," he said bowing his head a little.

This caught her by surprise.

"I never meant to cause all that damage and destruction. It was never my intent."

She was speechless. This was coming from the person who disrespected her every chance he got. What the hell happened to him?

"This is a joke right? You're pulling my tail with this apology?"

Dan said nothing but kept his head down. Maybe this guy wasn't such a dick after all. Her ears perked up as she looked out the window. She didn't hesitate for a minute before tackling Dan to the ground as magical silver spear crashed through the window and embedded into the wall.

"Thanks. Didn't think you care," Dan said softly with a smile making her blush hotly before looking away.

"I thought you said this place was safe?"

"It is," Dan said looking at her before something clicked. "Are you being tracked?"

"I don't think so."

Dan held his hand out as it glowed slightly and roamed her body before the glowing got brighter as it neared her watch. He grabbed it before crushing it in his hand.

"That watch was giving to me by Larry last month. God damn him," she growled.

Dan tensed before pulling the couch over them both as gunfire flooded the room making her yelp. The front door was busted open as Larry walked in with a growl.

"Well well, look at this scene? Aren't you two cozy?"

Three other people walked in, one of them being Justin.

"Get up bitch. Nice and easy now."

They both stood up nice and slow, hands up as Larry walked over and punched Dan to the ground.

"Fucker! That was for the low blow. And this," he snarled kicking him in the stomach. "Was for blasting me against the wall."

"Leave him alone Larry. Its me you want," Michelle growled.

"Oh don't worry about that. I'm just getting started."

He grabbed her throat and slammed her against the wall making her yelp in pain.

"Everyday I have to see my sister cry cause she can't have kids. You know how heartbreaking that is?" he shouted.

"I'm sorry," she whined out, gagging a little as he tightened his grip.

"Sorry doesn't cut it. How about me make you sterile as well?" he growled, aiming his gun between her legs.

"Enough Larry," Justin said. "I get first shot at her. Get rid of the cop."

Larry looked at Justin before letting out a humph and let Michelle go as she slumped to the ground coughing. He walked over to Dan and lifted him up by the collar of his shirt.

"Never killed a cop a before. Oh well, first time for everything."

Dan's body blurred before he headbutted Larry, breaking his nose making him yowl in pain. Still in movement, he grabbed Larry by the neck holding him from behind before using his gun to shoot the two people besides Justin. Ripping the gun out of his hand, he slammed the butt onto the back of his head hard as Larry fell to the ground out cold. Justin had time to raise his gun but that was all as Michelle pinned him to the wall with glowing magical swords.

"You bitch! I'll make you suffer. Let me go!"

Michelle looked at Dan who wiped his nose clean from the blood as he frowned.

"Dammit. This was my best shirt too."

He looked at her, making her blush a little.

"Well, what do you want to do with these guys?"

She looked at both of them before growling.

"Don't worry. I got something special planned for Justin. As for that piece of shit," she spat, looking at Larry. "He's all yours."

Dan walked over to Larry and tied his wrists behind his back with magical rope,

"Thank you for......everything Daniel Miller."

"Just doing my job Michelle."

"Guess I was wrong about you. You aren't a total asshole."

"Oh stop, you're making me blush," Dan chuckled. "Need a ride back?"

"That would be great."

After stuffing both of them in the trunk, they headed back to the police station where he her car was towed to, windows still shattered.

"My insurance is going to love this," Michelle said shaking her head.

"Let me handle this for you."

Dan walked up to her car, placing his hand on the hood and closing his eyes. Soon, the car started to glow as the metal creaked and groaned, bending back to perfection as if nothing happened. Once it was done, he dusted his hands and turned to see her muzzle wide open.

"There you go. Good as new."

"Amazing. Never seen a high powered Restore like that."

"Consider it a token of goodwill and hopefully a fresh start. I give you my word now that I will try and keep damage to a minimal."

She was quiet for a moment, looking into his eyes before giving a soft smile.

"Alright. I'll hold you to your word."

He walked over and held his hand out. She smiled and shook it. A grin came across his face as he pulled her closer, locking his lips with her. She let out yip at the pulled, eyes going wide at the sudden kiss. But they slowly started to close as she titled her muzzle a little deepened it. They broke off after a few moments as her eyes were mere slits, tail wagging happily.

"That was pushing your luck Miller. You're lucky you can kiss good. Don't try it again though."

"As you wish my lady," Dan said, but leaned in a kissed her again quickly. "Have a nice night."

He reached into his trunk lifting Larry over his shoulder before walking in. She watched him leave with a soft murr before a muffled curse made her growl. Walking over, she looked at Justin who had tape over his mouth.

"Don't worry Justin," she said with a wicked smile that sent shivers up his spine. "I'll make sure to treat you just right."
