A Praxley Tale
Author Note
Well, part two coming up. I haven't slept in a week (literally, a week straight) so I have no idea how I'm even alive right now. Regardless, I hope you enjoy. I'm not sure when the naughty stuff will happen, but soon, I promise you.
Read part 1 before you read this. http://www.sofurry.com/page/227473/user A link just for you, cuz I'm so nice.
A my glanced at the clock impatiently as she waited for the order to finish. Behind the serving counter, the chefs worked hard to prepare meals for the customers. She sighed and grabbed the nearest full order, checking the receipt for the table number before heading out to take it to its orderer. As she gave a smile and handed the plate to the dark furred canine in the booth, she found herself glancing at the clock again. Only 4 more hours...
Finally, with only 30 minutes left to go, she got the bad news.
Brody, the head chef in the kitchen leaned over the counter and asked,
"Bernadette and Lucy are heading off work early tonight, and I need a senior busgirl working until the night shift arrives, do you think you can put in a few more hours, Amy?"
Amy bit her lip, as her snap response would have been no, but Brody was a nice man, and also the owner of the restaraunt. Amy worked at Brody's, an entirely unoriginal name considering the owner, which was in Downtown Los Angeles, just a few blocks away from the Staples Center and Nokia Theatre. Plenty of tourists and city regulars packed into the small square for big events, such as basketball games, or concerts.
"Brody...I kind of already had plans..."
Brody nodded once,
"I understand, but the Lakers are having a game tonight, the crowd is going to start pouring in any minute. Think about it, Amy. You'll be compensated for it, I promise."
Amy huffed angrily as Brody slipped back into the kitchen to continue his cooking. The Hazel colored canine had been her boss and friend for almost 5 years now. Amy had been one of his first waitresses back when Brody's had first opened. She was actually the head waitress for the day shift, and de-facto assisstant manager for Brody. He treated her like a sister, and she loved him like a brother. But like all families, there were the downsides to it, too.
She desperately wanted to clock out and go meet Victor, her mind raced with questions, none of which she knew how to pose towards the man.
Oh yeah, hey I umm, saw you in my dreams. No big deal, was just wondering what you thought about that.
Surely he'd think her insane.
But at the same time, she didn't want to let Brody down. He relied on her, and it would pain her to leave, knowing that he could use the help.
She sighed and grit her teeth, deciding to stay and help out. Whenever a basketball game was on, the resauraunt always got packed. Always. Even the afterparty, people came in to drink. Amy steeled herself and continued to take the orders, wistfully hoping Victor would wait for her, afraid of what she'd do if he didn't.

Amy rubbed her shoulder, sore from having to carry all those plates, and then checked her watch.
9:23.
"Oh great. Only 3 hours overdue from my meeting time...He's not going to be there."
"You're right, I'm not."
Amy gasped and jumped, her tail stuck out straight and her ears pointed straight up and she whirled around, startled by the intruder...who turned out to be Victor.
"What the hell are you doing here? How did you find out where I work!"
Victor, still wearing his sunglasses even at night, just shrugged once.
"Good God, don't do that again. I only have nine lives you know...."
Victor smiled slightly at the joke, giving a curt nod.
"Apologies. I didn't mean to startle you. You didn't arrive, so about 8 I started to trek for you."
"But again, how did you find me?"
"Just followed your scent."
Amy narrowed her eyes in suspicion,
"What do you mean by that? You're a human. Not even an anthro with bloodhound in him could follow a scent that old."
Victor just shrugged again.
Amy decided to keep an eye on him, even though they were going to end up spending a little time together.
I'm just going to talk to him, get to know him a little bit, see if I can't understand why he was in my dream, or if it was all just coincidence.
But something told her it wasn't coincidence, and that's why she wanted to pursue this so desperately.
"How did you get here?"
"I walked."
Amy blinked at him.
"Bullshit. Now you're pulling my leg. There is no way you walked from Long Beach to Downtown LA in an hour."
"Yes, I am joking. I took the bus, if you must know."
His blatant admittance of that took her by surprise. She had to admit she found this human quite interesting.
"Ok so how are you going to get back?"
"Might I trouble you for a ride?"
Amy narrowed her eyes, clearly not amused.
"Don't try anything funny, Victor. I know martial arts."
He just nodded before correcting her,
"Ah, Victor is my informal name. You can call me Vlad."
Amy blinked again, tugging at her blouse. The air was muggy, and had only just began to cool down to the night breezes. She was really not in the mood for his games.
"Who the hell are you? Why are you following me around, and what's with trying to play these head games with me? Before this little aquaintanceship of ours can progress, you need to be straight with me Victor, or Vlad or whoever the hell you say you are."
"Victor is my name. I must admit the only reason why I even bothered to wait for you as agreed was because you interest me. Not many beings can do that. While you have my interest, I may be more charitable in the information I give, but you must ask the right questions."
Amy lowered her ears and wrapped her tail around her waist, giving him a dirty look.
"You're very cryptic, aren't you."
"Out of necessity."
She sighed and headed back for her parked car, Victor in tow.
The both settled into the car, Amy glancing warily at her new passenger, before starting the car to brave the traffic on the road and the freeway. She was plenty tired and just wanted to get home and rest before the weekend. She decided Broly owed her a nice little Christmas bonus this year...
"So you seem to do well for yourself."
Amy perked up, shaken out of her musings by the sudden conversation.
"Boy, you only talk when you want to, huh?"
"Pretty much."
"..."
Victor looked at her questioningly.
"So do I call you Victor, or Vlad? Which is it?"
"Whichever you prefer."
"Victor it is...so tell me about yourself. Where do you come from? Why were you down by the beach earlier today?"
Victor rubbed his chin thoughtfully before answering,
"I come from Scotland. I don't get out much, so I decided it would be nice to see the beach."
"You flew all the way from Scotland just to see the effing beach? You don't even sound Scottish."
"No no, my dear you misunderstand. I originally hail from Scotland, but I currently live here, in LA. I've been here for a while, so my accent naturally ebbed away."
"Oh, I see."
"Truthfully, I had a dream last night. In it, I saw that beach, from that exact spot."
That really caught her attention.
"What kind of dream? What did you see? Was anyone else in it?"
"I can only conclude from your suddenly excited demeanor that you too, experienced a similar dream. Yes, there was someone in the dream. That someone was you, dressed exactly as you are now. I went to that spot to see what it meant, and suddenly you showed up. I remembered you vividly from my dream, so I didn't need to look at you to know how you were."
That explains a few things....
"Yeah, I dreamed too. Only I didn't remember anything about it until I saw you. You were in it, and you said something to me that I don't remember before you suddenly disappeared."
Victor nodded silently, staring out the window.
"Well, what do you think the dream meant?"
He shrugged.
Amy sighed and continued to focus on the road. This man was odd, and very unhelpful. Amy was definitely curious now, she wanted to pursue that interest to the end. Wherever and whenever that may be.
"I remember the dream. In its entirety. It felt more like a vision, it was so real. It was definitely interesting."
Amy glanced over at him as she merged over to her exit.
"What was it about?"
"Ah, Amy...if I told you that, then you wouldn't learn what you need to."
Amy growled slightly, as much as a feline could growl, anyway. She was extremely annoyed at his attitude, at the way he so easily dodged fully answering her questions. What pissed her off even more was the fact that she found herself becoming more and more interested in him the longer they interacted. He was different that any normal human that she knew, for sure.
I'll learn your secrets, buddy...you can't hide them from me.
Slowly, a plan began to form in her head. One that would bring them together quicker, in the hopes that he would spill the beans about the dream that taunted her on the edge of her memory.
Won't you be in for a surprise when I ask Eden to help me....
