Ch. 5 MOVE OUT!!!
It's been the same routine for the boys for a couple of days. They wake up, go for a five mile run, weapons practice, eat, fill out more papers, shower and sleep just to repeat it all over the following day. On the fifth day they were all entering their room with groans from muscle pains and bruises. The small group sat onto their beds as the trainers walked up to them and handed out more papers and a small booklet.
"Now that you have all been basically trained, you all could be out of here at any moment. These papers are for your request for your first guild, pick the first three you want but it's not uncommon that you get sent to a guild that you didn't choose at all." Ian said as he paced back and forth after finishing.
Hallic was sitting in the corner of the room observing everyone as they started to get to work. Phillip opened the small book and was amazed at how many guilds he could choose. He looked at the names and locations for a little, he saw that most of them were away from his home town which scared him a little knowing that he would be technically on his own. He was so occupied with his thoughts that were floating through his head that he didn't notice that others had already finished up and was waiting on him. Phillip looked up and seen they were waiting so he wrote the first guild he seen, Ian decided to get the boys and take them back out to finish their practice for the day and instructed Hallic to bring the boy to the field when he was done. They all quickly left the room leaving Phillip and the anthro by themselves.
Phillip was so concentrated on the names in the booklet that he failed to notice Hallic get up and slowly moved behind him after the door had closed. The lion was looking over Phillip's shoulder to see what the human was reading and his one choice he made.
"Why did you pick Beast Talons?" The lion asked.
Phillip quickly looked up behind him at the big anthro that was standing over him before looking back down at his paper. The boy looked at the guilds info to quickly come up with an answer. "Umm...I always wanted to be near the ocean and Beast Talons is located in Hawaii." The boy said in almost a whisper.
Hallic nodded while he sat down close behind Phillip, the lion wrapped the boy into his arms as he leaned over the boy's shoulder to look at the book. "Well there is a good guild over in California if you're interested." The lion told the boy. Phillip was too stunned to move as the lion had him wrapped up in his big arms. Hallic felt the boy tense when he started to get closer, the lion leaned back to look down at the human and gave a small chuckle. "I told you that this is going to be a common thing did I not?" The lion asked which in return got a small nod from the boy, he smiled as he leaned down closer and nuzzled the human. "Especially with you."
Phillip just continued to stare at the book that shook slightly in his hands, not really reading it anymore. "Why me?" He asked.
Hallic gave him a warm smile. "Because unlike the other three, you are more open to us. We can read you almost clearly while the others it's still kind of foggy, which is rare for your age and that will make the anthros that haven't bonded to be..." the lion smiled. "More closer than normal should I say, they will want to be close to you as possible. You might not know it but I bet you can read us pretty good if you try."
"What do you mean read?" The boy asked.
The lion tightened his grip a little. "I can tell not just by how you look or act but deep down that you're nerviest about me being close like this. When you practice with your sword, you might get the hang of using it but you're scared that you will hurt someone and the reason that your taking your time on picking a guild isn't just because you want to be on the coast and don't know which one to pick but because you're scared that they will treat you poorly like back at your home." The lion moved his paw up to the boy's chin and lifted it up so that the boy who now had tears in his eyes was now looking up at him. "It's just the strong emotions that we all can pick out but you have to understand that when you bond almost all your emotions won't be hidden to your anthro." The lion smiled at him. "And don't worry, the other guilds are very friendly I can assure you."
Phillip just smiled as wiped his face with his arm before looking back down at the booklet, the whole time he was in Hallic's arms. Phillip took the lion's suggestion and wrote down the guild that was located in California, the boy quickly wrote down the next guild that was sitting in his mind. After he did the lion started to laugh.
"What?" Phillip asked, a little bit confused.
The lion shook his head. "You picked Wolf Fang guild."
"I know."
The lion let Phillip go. "Well I'll send it out but don't count on it, that guild is somewhat..." Hallic just smiled. "An elite guild. One of five that we have."
"Oh." Phillip said as he lowered his head, the main reason he picked the guild was to see his friends like Padreion. "Then I should change it I guess." The boy said in a disappointed tone.
Before he could do anything the lion quickly snatched it from his hands. "Nope, I'll send it out anyways. You just go and join the others."
Phillip didn't say anything as he got up and walked over to his belongings and grabbed his sword, after securing it to his back he quickly moved out of the room and towards the practice field. When the boy got to the field he looked over to see the same tiger that he been fighting for the past couple of days sitting on the bench waiting for him. As he approached the feline, Phillip gripped his sword and pulled it out of its sheath. The tiger smiled at as he got up with his own weapon ready in his hand. They both got to their spot on the field and each took their stance.
"Ok, let's start where we left off." The anthro said as he got ready.
Phillip bent his legs a little to get ready to move, what Hallic said earlier about him was still running through his head. Phillip closed his eyes and let out a large sigh, he calmed himself as he concentrated on the anthro in front of him. When he opened his eyes to look at the anthro, the tiger was looking at him curiously with his head slightly tilted to the side. Phillip tried to concentrate a bit harder, a feeling of pity started to wash over him. When he got the feeling the tiger's ears twitched.
'He thinks I'm too weak.' Phillip thought to himself while he got ready.
The tiger quickly moved at the boy with a swing of his sword, somehow Phillip knew this attack was coming so he moved his blade in the path and blocked the attack, Phillip took a side step before moving his sword behind him to quickly swing it upwards. The anthro took a step back out of the range of the sword. After the blade had passed the tiger tried to make a counter attack but the human sensed the tigers intentions and brought his sword back down so it was parallel with his shoulders and pointing at the anthro, he quickly thrust his arms forward. The tiger's eyes widened as the boy attacked quickly and had to swing his sword around to knock the blade to the side. Before the anthro could recover from his defense Phillip quickly did a 360 degree spin with his sword outwards, by the time the anthro stopped moving his blade, the boy's sword was at the tiger's throat. The two stared at each other for a while.
"What the hell was that?" Phillip heard, he blinked as he looked at the shock expression on the tigers face before looking over at everyone else that were all staring at him. He slowly moved his blade from the anthro's throat and stood with it at his side.
"I..." he started but didn't know how to respond.
"You were reading me?" The tiger asked. Phillip didn't respond as he still looking at everyone.
Before anyone else said anything, Phillip dropped his sword onto the ground and took off running as fast as he could back to the room. He didn't even stop when he ran passed Hallic who called for him. Phillip's eyes were watering as he pushed the door open that had enough force that it slammed against the wall and closed shut by itself when the boy entered the room. The boy dove into his bed and hugged his pillow, he knew that no one would like him here, and just now it proved it. It wasn't long that he heard the door slowly open and the sound of footsteps enter the room.
"Kid..." he knew who the voice belonged to as he curled up into a smaller ball. The sound of the footsteps moved from one side of the room to the other, the human heard the sound of metal clinging up against each other. Which he suspects was his sword being brought back to him. Phillip shifted his position so that his back was facing away from the anthro as the sound of footsteps got closer to him. He felt the blankets move as the body lay down and a pair of white with black stripe arms reached over and pulled him close. Phillip didn't care at this point, he needed to be close to someone right now as tears still streamed down his face. "Kid, I'm sorry for earlier." The voice of the tiger said softly in his ears, when Phillip didn't respond the tiger continued. "We're not mad at you or anything, it's just that we weren't suspecting someone as young as you to read an anthro like that and react to attacks so quickly is all. When we all felt you reading me it was a shock, I didn't know how to react or anything." The anthro pulled the human closer, the two laid together for what seemed like hours. Phillip's tears stopped flowing but the sadness was still there.
"I'm a freak." Phillip finally said after a long time. The tiger grabbed the boy's shoulder and quickly rolled him over so they were nose to nose.
"No you're not." He growled. "You're a gifted User and don't let anyone say otherwise. You're going to bond to an anthro and I can guarantee that when you do you'll make him very happy."
Phillip just stared in fright as the tiger was so close and angry, but that all changed as the anthro pulled him onto a tight hug. The boy didn't know what to do except to slowly wrap his arms as much around the tiger as he could and hug back. The door slowly opened and the rest of the boys came in and quickly started to fold their bedding.
"What's going on?" Phillip asked as the tiger let the boy go and the human sat up.
Hallic and Ian walked in after the last boy and looked over at Phillip. Hallic looked back at the group, "They all got orders to guilds almost as soon as I sent them out."
"So they're leaving?" Phillip said somewhat down that he was being left behind, Hallic just nodded his head as they watched the other three boys pack up their things and leave the room accompanied by Ian.
Hallic looked back at Phillip, "Go get dinner and then come back here." The lion said before turning and walking through the door himself.
The tiger got up and walked over to get his sword. "I'll go with you if you want."
Phillip looked over at the tiger with a smile. "Na, it's ok."
"You sure?" The tiger asked while he strapped on his sword.
"Yeah."
They both walked outside into the cool weather, the sky was orange from the sunset. The two parted ways as Phillip went over to the cafeteria. He got himself a plate of roast beef and quickly ate before he returned back to his room. It felt weird that he was the only one now in the room. He went over to his bag and grabbed his towel and soap. After taking his nightly shower and putting his cloths into his nit bag, the boy crawled under the covers of his bed to fall asleep.
It was in the middle of the night that the door to the room slowly opened and shut. Light paws moved across the floor and over to the sleeping human and took off most of his clothes, the figure moved the covers slowly before slipping in the bed and moving closer to the human. The anthro wrapped his arms around the human boy and pulled him close to his body, a smile creep across his face as the boy started to cuddle closely in his sleep.
...........................................................
Phillip let out a yawn while he tried to stretch out his body but found it difficult to move, he tried to sit up but he body was pinned down. He shifted his body back but felt something behind him, something warm. The boy rolled over the best he could but stopped in his tracks to see a face of a lion lying with him. Phillip knew now that it was Hallic's arms that was pinning him down, and his warm body was pushed up against his. Phillip didn't want to wake the anthro up so tried to slip out from the bed.
It wasn't long till a groan came from the lion, his eyes slowly opened and a smile came across his muzzle. "Morning." He said softly.
"Umm...Morning." Phillip responded as he froze in his spot as the two just starred at each other, Phillip had to do something to break up the awkwardness. "Why are you in my bed?" he decided to ask.
Hallic let out a small chuckle. "We saw how disappointed you were so Ian suggested I stay with you last night." Hallic let go of the human so he could stretch out his body. The anthro slipped out of the bedding, Phillip's eyes widened to see the anthro in a loin cloth. The lion turned to ask Phillip something but laughed at the boy's face. "What's with the face?"
"What's with the cloth?" Phillip responded a little louder than he wanted.
Hallic shook his head. "You really don't know anything about anthros do you?" Phillip slowly shook his head. "Well when we aren't in public or relaxing at our house or about to sleep we are always in loin cloths. Clothing is to look more civilized I guess." The lion said while bending down and sliding on his pants. "Well today is going to be a break for ya since everyone else is gone. So go do laundry or practice or whatever you want to do." Hallic gave the boy a wave good-bye before stepping out of the room.
The human just gave a small waved back before laying back onto his bed to rest just a while longer. After getting up and dressing, he took his nit bag and went out to do laundry before heading out to the practice field. For the next couple of days was the same for him, Hallic and Ian still took Phillip around and trained him. They decided to push him a little more than they usually would, from moving to an eight mile run to sparing with two opponents. The running wasn't that difficult for the human and he quite enjoyed it but he was having a hard time with two opponents, getting a link with one anthro and reading him was getting easier for the boy but two at the same time was far more difficult.
He was on his knee with his sword up struggling, a wolf was standing over him trying to force the human's sword downward with his own. "Come on kid..." Phillip heard Hallic from the side. "You can link to an anthro and read him with ease so why are you having a problem with two?" the lion chuckled.
Phillip quickly rolled backwards to try and get more distance. "Easier said than done." The boy said while breathing for air as he stood up and looked at the tiger and wolf that have smug looks on their faces. "It's not easy to concentrate on one than the other."
The lion chuckled. "Why not both at the same time."
The boy sighed. "I tried."
The lion was still chuckling. "Then you're not doing it right...Again." He said before Phillip could ask what he means.
The wolf and tiger brought up their swords and charged at the human. "Shit." Phillip cursed as he held up his sword and concentrated on the wolf and could feel how he was going for a high attack, the boy lifted up his sword up and blocked an attack coming downward from the anthro. Unfortunately before he could switch to the tiger, the anthro quickly had his blade up against his back. Phillip sighed and lowered his sword in defeat.
The other two moved their blades away from the human. They all got to their spots so that practice could continue, The lion kept his eyes on the human but flicked his ear to the side as Ian walked up beside him. "I know you already know but still nothing on orders for him yet."
Hallic took a deep breath. "What's taking so long, he's been here for eight days now."
Ian gave his anthro a shrug in return for his answer. More sounds of metal clashing could still be heard as the three continued their fights into the late afternoon. By the time they were done Phillip was dragging his feet as he entered his room, he placed his sword by his bags and grabbed his things for a shower. Phillip sighed happily while he plopped down into his bed, now that he was able to get off his feet and let his body rest. The boy looked up at the ceiling and thought about why the others left so quickly but he was still at the processing center and how was he going to fight two skilled anthros when he can barely keep up with one. Phillip didn't think too much as he rolled over to try and get more sleep.
............................................................
It was bright and early as the sound of metal smashing up against each other could be heard echoing across the quiet base. Phillip was breathing hard as he kept blocking the attacks the two was giving him, one block after another. Things seemed hopeless for him, even though he could block attacks he knew unless he can get to offence he wouldn't beat them. The match was called when the tiger slapped the boy's hand with the blunt end of his blade, making Phillip wince and release his hold on his sword as it fell to the ground.
Ian just shook his head. "You're still not getting it. Don't just read one opponent, read them both."
Phillip bent down and pick up his sword. "How do you think I should do that?"
Ian waved him over, as Phillip got closer Ian bent down and set two small stones onto the ground, he then drew a circle around one of the stones. He looked up at the human, "focus on the circle." Phillip was looking as he could see just the one stone. Ian soon erased the one circle before he drew a bigger one around the two stones. "Now, focus on the circle." Phillip looked at the circle drawn in the dirt and without looking at them directly he could tell there were two. Ian moved his hand over the circle, opened his hand and moved it. Still focusing on the circle he could tell there were three stones. "You focus too much on one spot, widen your view." Ian smiled. Phillip nodded and walked back in front of the two anthros. "Go!" Ian yelled.
All three snapped into their fighting stance, the anthros didn't charge at his right away so Phillip took this opportunity to try and focus on them both, with some effort he could slightly start to feel the two's different emotions. He tried to concentrate harder until the tiger came at him. Phillip quickly held his sword up to block, when the two swords clashed he lost his focus on the wolf that ended up coming at him from the side. Phillip tried to move to the side but wasn't quick enough and tripped over his own foot. He landed on his butt with his eyes opened to a tip of a sword pointed at him. The wolf laughed as he extended his paw to Phillip.
The human gripped the anthros paw and was pulled up to his feet. "You almost got it." The wolf said was he patted the boy on the shoulder.
Phillip couldn't help but smile, Ian stood watch as the three got back to their spots and started over. Hallic came walking up with a small piece of paper in his paw, once he got to his human he didn't say much as he handed it to Ian.
"Orders." The lion said.
Ian looked over it for a bit before looking up at the lion confused. "These are orders to Frozen Claw."
Hallic gave a nod, he gazed over to the three as they started to fight one another. "Seems that once I put the orders in for Wolf Fang like he wanted, three out of the five elite groups caught wind of him when Wolf Fang jumped on the opportunity to get him. Seems that they liked the report we had on him and the four guilds been discussing who got him."
"Wow, Frozen Claw for his first guild." Ian shook his head at the thought.
When the three got done with the fight Ian and Hallic called for Phillip to head back to the room while they discussed more on the situation, Phillip did as he was told and was sitting on his bed patiently until his trainers to arrive. They both arrived and sat down onto the floor in front of him.
"Well your orders came in." Ian said.
Phillip smiled as his excitement got the best of him, "Where am I going?"
"Frozen Claw up in Bremerton, Washington." Hallic said in a stern tone.
Phillip's smile faded a little when he sensed how serious the two were. "Washington, when do I leave?"
Ian sighed, "As soon as you pack but you have to know something about this guild." Ian didn't get a response from Phillip so he decided to continue. "This is an elite guild you're going to, they're not going to take you serious at first and you're going to have to work hard if you want to stay with them." Phillip's excitement pretty much ran out while he slowly looked at the floor.
"You're going to be ok." Phillip heard the lion say, the anthro placed his paw onto his shoulder and gave it a firm squeeze. "But you should start getting packed, your flight leaves in three hours."
They all got up at the same time, Ian and Hallic waited by the door as they watched the boy pack everything into his black bag. Hallic gave the human a small smile as he came up and tied his sword to the side of the bag before Phillip slid the travel bag onto his back. They all walked outside and to the main gate, just outside were a row of white trucks. Ian pointed to the one that they would be taking, after Phillip placed his backpack into the bed of the truck he quickly got into the back seat. Hallic slid into the front with a grunt. Phillip smiled as the situation reminded him of when Troit had a problem with the front seat of the SUV when he first arrived here. It didn't take long till they were on the road and heading towards the airport.
.........................
The ride wasn't that long till they pulled up to the drop off terminal, Hallic quickly stepped out and grabbed Phillip's bag and started to lead them inside. Phillip looked around to see lots of the people stare at them as they made their way up to the ticket both.
"Check-in for a User under the name Phillip Sebastian." Ian said when they got to the podium.
The lady at the counter started to type away on the computer, Phillip could tell she was nerviest because she kept typing his name wrong and glancing up at the lion from time to time.
"y-yes, Phillip Sebastian on a one way flight to Washington." She announced. "Does he have any luggage that needs to be checked on?"
"Just one." The anthro spoke as he set the bag onto the scale that was beside the counter.
She looked at it briefly before turning her gaze to them. "I'm sorry but the sword isn't allowed to be checked onboard."
Ian started to laugh. "Actually due to the fact that we have to have these weapons on us at all times. Users are exempt from that rule."
The woman was about to protest but was interrupted when Hallic gave a load growl, one that stopped a few other people to look that them, the lady just nodded and quickly printed Phillip's boarding tickets and the ticket onto his bag. The three Users started to walk to the security gate after they watched the woman struggle and place his bag and sword onto the conveyor belt behind her. Once they all made it to the gate Ian grabbed Phillip by the shoulders and turned him so they were looking at each other face to face.
"Well this is where we part ways, but I want to give you some advice before you go. Learn quickly and keep improving and you'll be fine."
"Thanks and I will." Phillip said.
Ian was about to say something else but was shoved out of the way, Hallic gave Phillip a tight hug. "Good luck kid." Phillip chuckled as he hugged the big lion back.
"Thanks for everything." The boy said while he let the lion go.
"OK you best be going, there will be someone waiting for you when you get there so keep an eye out."
They all said their final good byes before Phillip continued to make his way to the gate. When he got there he was instructed to remove his boots and anything else metallic. The boy did and waited patiently as the line slowly made it through security. After walking through the metal detector Phillip grabbed his boots and slipped them back on. He didn't have a hard time till he found the gate, it's just making it to the gate was the problem. He was constantly being stopped by people to shake his hands and trying to meet him, some of them said how they used to be Users and started to tell him their war stories. Trying to not be rude, Phillip just listend to them or shook their hands and talked.
"Flight 256, non-stop service flight to Seattle-Tacoma now boarding first class or those who is in need of assistance." Was announced over the intercoms. Phillip looked at his ticket to see that it was his flight but he wasn't in first class.
He walked over to the gate of his fight and waited till he was called. "Flight 256, non-stop service flight to Seattle-Tacoma will not be boarding seats 20 through 40." Phillip seen that his seat was 35b, so he made his way up to the small line that formed and followed the crowd, he gave his ticket to the lady checking on the passengers. She scanned it and handed him his flight ticket back. The line was moving really slowly, it took him a while till he got to the very back of the plane and sat in his seat. He buckled his seat belt and laid his head back and waited to take off. He was sitting in the middle seat and wasn't surprised when a gentleman sat beside him to his right, once everyone was in there seats the pilot announced that they were ready for takeoff. The plane started to move as the flight attendants started their normal routines of the safety procedures on the plane. Phillip listened with half an ear but didn't really pay much attention when he started to fall asleep, half excited to go to a new place but half scared on what the guild would be like.
To be continued.........
Ok, this might be a weird Ch. Kind of not been up to writing due to some problem but I got it done. I hope to have the next one out soon.
