well, here it is...the birthday is soon! but it's not now :P

==========

-- Chapter 8 --

==========

Spyro came back later that night, out of breath and looking very pissed off. With a snort he went through the dojo into his room and found Cynder on the bed. She woke up as he tried but failed to quietly slip in next to her, and she rolled over and kissed his cheek, immediately feeling the heat of his anger.

"What happened? You're not right."

Spyro grunted. "I got the crystal back...but Cynder, they used the light energy from it, but I don't know what for...I'm worried it's something dangerous."

Cynder wrapped herself around him. "I'm just glad you're okay this time," she whispered. She smiled to herself as she felt his rage die off, and eventually he sighed and put his wings around her.

"I'm sorry, Cynder...there's way too much going on now and I haven't been-" He cut off as she put her paw over his mouth.

"Shut up, you're fine. I know. I know you're going through a lot...and that you're hungrier than my ape commanders after training."

His stomach growled and he chuckled. "Perfect timing...yeah, come to think of it, I'm starving."

"C'mon," she said, and he followed her off the bed into the dojo. Off to the side was a table Alex had quickly crafted, and on it were the cooked geese. Spyro reached for one but Cynder pushed his paw back and he looked at her oddly. With a half-smile and a gleam in her eye she took one in particular. "Roasted just the way you liked it last fall," she whispered, sliding it to him and leaning over and kissing him. "I've already had my fill. You need your food, Mr. Daddy."

He managed a smile and Cynder watched him tear into the large roasted carcass. Christine had said the dragons ate like animals, but as Cynder watched Spyro and remembered how Alex and Christine ate, she wondered how the heck humans could eat so plainly, picking off small pieces at a time. It was understandable with berry clusters...She came back to reality as Spyro coughed and gagged slightly on a bone and laughed. "Yeah, I haven't eaten like this in a while...got a bit too aggressive."

She giggled and rubbed against him. "Don't kill yourself, there's no rush."

"I know, I know...I'm just really hungry." It didn't take him long to finish, and as they'd done last year he took the bones out to the balcony and threw them into the air, then charred them with a well-aimed fireball. Solar and Flare were cuddled with each other by the Pool of Visions, and Alex and Christine were in the room just beyond that, before the tunnels, so no one was disturbed by Spyro's activities. As he stood on the balcony, looking over the mushroom forest below, Cynder came next to him and leaned against him, and he leaned his head on hers. "Hey...you're tired."

"You had your fill?"

"That bird's enough to last me two days easily." Cynder yawned and Spyro nudged her. "C'mon, let's get you inside before it starts getting colder." Cynder nodded, but she detected a hint of frustration from her purple mate...As they walked towards their bed her curiosity got the better of her and she nudged Spyro away as he went to help her into bed, getting a confused glance from him.

"Something's bugging you, Spyro...something about me."

Spyro's eyes widened and he coughed nervously. "Well...damn, I can't keep anything from you can I?"

"Spyro, I'm your mate and I love you beyond anything else. If something's bugging you, I wanna know!"

He looked to the side. "I just...I kinda miss our little riverside times."

Her eyes widened and she laughed. "So you wanna mate with me?"

"Erm, well...ummm..." He sighed in resignation---why did she have to be so flippin' blunt?! "Yes..." He sat on his haunches, looking at the floor.

"Well," Cynder whispered, brushing against him, "I guess I could...use some entertainment...it gets boring pretty quickly here..." She grinned maliciously as she felt him tense up when her breath washed over him. "And you've been so stressed lately..."

"Good flamebreath you're annoying!" Spyro growled, but he smiled and kissed her as she came back around his other side. "And where does the night want to heat up?"

"Over by the river if her purple daylight wants to carry her."

"It's cold outside right now."

"It's not much different than in here, y'know, with the open windows. Besides, I'm hotter than usual now that I'm carrying."

"Got that right," Spyro smirked, looking her over. She just rolled her eyes with a grin and closed her eyes as he kissed her again. "C'mon, climb on." He got low to the floor and Cynder climbed up onto his back, wrapping her arms around his chest and her hind legs behind his.

"Wow," she whispered as he strolled easily to the window and leapt out into the night air.

"What's wow?"

"I keep forgetting how strong you are..."

"What, am I scary now?" he asked teasingly, flexing his muscles under her.

"No, more like sexy." She licked his neck and laughed as his muscles jumped. "Mmm...you taste good," she teased, and Spyro groaned as she continued licking his neck. She smirked to herself and flexed her paws against his chest, rubbing his gold belly-scales, and giggled as he grunted and strained to keep flying smoothly.

"You are bad, you know that?"

"And lovin' every bit of it." With that she started nibbling his purple scales and laughed as he dropped a few feet in the air. His body was heating up in anticipation and she could feel his breath growing heavier like hers. Much to Spyro's relief they finally arrived at their favorite spot, and Cynder slipped off his back.

"You may not be with the Dark Master but boy you sure know how to be evil," Spyro grunted, flexing his wings.

"All that and you're not ready?!" she asked in disbelief, looking between his hind legs.

"You won't understand how hard it is to fly like that," he said.

"Well...we're not flying anymore..." Cynder leaned in and clamped her mouth over his. Spyro couldn't hold himself back anymore, and Cynder sighed happily into his mouth as he wrapped his arms around her, giggling as his dragonhood tickled her belly. "Boy aren't you the anxious one..."

Spyro backed away a bit shamefully. "I'm sorry, Cynder..."

"What the heck is your problem this time?!" she asked, amused. "It's just one thing after another!"

"I don't wanna impose on you or anything..."

She pushed him to the ground, pressing her swollen belly onto his member and bringing her face closer to his. "Spyro, you're a little too obssessed with the well-being of others. You gotta think of yourself once in a while!"

"But-"

She clamped her mouth against his. "Shut up and relax," she whispered around his mouth. Standing off to his side she reclined her chest against his, and Spyro closed his eyes with a low moan of pleasure as she used her paws to caress his throbbing length. She'd only done this twice in the last two years, but shew knew pretty well how to get him going, and slowly pressed and squeezed the blood-hardened maleness that never failed to impress her. Spyro squirmed and groaned as she lightly traced his veins with her claws, then slowly pressed his cock from base to head. She giggled as she enjoyed this power she had over him, watching him wriggle on the ground, wanting to cum. Some pre-cum spurted from him and Cynder, without stopping her massage, bent over and licked his chest clean, grinning as he gasped sharply.

"That feels so good..." Spyro groaned, slightly arching his back off the ground. His member was rock-hard now and Cynder began pulling up and down along its length. Getting an idea she pressed it against his underbelly with one paw, continuing the stroking with one paw as the other made small circular motions at his base. Her paw was too small to wrap around his girth, but she was able to pull the skin of his member back and forth, and she wriggled her fingers against it, making his arch his back. Spyro groaned loudly, his tail and wings twitching anxiously.

"You're close, aren't you?" she asked, seeing his face clench.

In reply he gave a low roar, and Cynder felt him tense up under her paws. In a matter of moments his gold chest was flooded with his hot white seed, and Cynder leaned over and kissed him, getting some on herself as well as he kept going. They just lay there, lip-locked as Spyro slowly came to a stop, panting with the waning excitement. Finally Spyro opened his eyes and Cynder pulled away from him to let him speak.

"That was amazing..." he whispered.

"You're welcome..." She lay back down on him, not caring at all that he was all sticky and wet with his own cum...in fact, something inside her rather liked it. She watched with a naughty smile as his member slowly retreated into its sheath.

"You're getting cold," Spyro said, putting his arm over her back.

"It's not that bad out here...I've got you to keep me warm."

"You'll need more than that," he said, and she caught a tone in his voice that she liked.

"What're you thinking of?" she asked in a seductive tone, bringing her face closer to his.

"You lying on your back," he said with a half-smile. He gently rolled her over and stood up, standing over her tail. "Time to return the favor." With that she closed her eyes with a happy smile as his paws began working her red belly-scales, slowly making their way down to her tail-base. Spyro smirked as she twitched when he caressed her moist and swollen sex. She was definitely aroused, contrary to her attitude, and Spyro wanted her thoroughly satisfied before calling it a night. He used both paws to press and rub her slit, listening to her moan quietly with each breath.

"Oh Spyro...please...more..." she panted, arching her back into his motions. She suddenly screamed with surprise and intense pleasure as she reached an early climax, bathing Spyro's paws as her juices came out on his purple scales. He knew she wanted more, and with a grin he stuck his paw into her, running the other around her entrance. Cynder shrieked and squirmed as he massaged her inside and out, her paws curling and uncurling and scratching up the ground ever deeper with each motion he made.

"You haven't been in the mood for this yet you're enjoying it," Spyro smirked, and Cynder only moaned in reply and shoved herself a bit farther down his foreleg so he was practically fisting her. Not too long after that she screamed again, shuddering madly, her inner muscles clenching around Spyro's paw. He grinned as he felt the rush of her warm fluids around his fingers, and as she lay back and relaxed in her afterglow he rubbed her all over with his wet paws, making her groan with the added pleasure. He gently laid himself on top of her, both of them still covered in their love-juices, and Cynder smiled and wrapped her arms around him as he put his around her neck and behind her head. They just quietly nuzzled each other while Cynder recovered.

"I'm afraid to think of where I'd be without you," she whispered in his ear.

"I won't even think of possibilities...especially since you seem to be connected to my mind."

She giggled and hugged him tighter. "Ooooo...you're so warm..."

"I hope you don't mind a purple blanket?"

"Wet though it is, definitely not."

He laughed and folded his wings over them both. She suddenly shifted uncomfortably under him. "Something wrong?"

"I wish not...but you're...pressing on them and it kinda hurts..."

He rolled off to the side and she nuzzled against him. His paw went down to her belly and a questioning look came to his face.

"Cynder..."

"I know. I said two eggs but one of them is bigger..."

Spyro raised an eyebrow. "The only thing that can mean is...oh boy..."

"Twins!" she said excitedly, hugging him tight. "I can't wait, I'm so excited..." She felt apprehension from him and her face fell a bit. "What is it?"

"I wish I could say 'nothing'..." He sighed and looked her in the eyes, and she saw deep concern. "Cynder, technically, for safe bearing you should be as grown as Flare...I'm scared; how're you gonna deliver a twin-egg if you're body's already only mature enough to handle normal ones?"

Her eyes widened---he was right! "Oh no..." she whimpered, suddenly scared. "What'm I gonna do?"

"Shhh...it's okay, Cynder," Spyro said comfortingly as she pressed herself against him. "We'll figure something out, we've still got a few weeks. Solar or Ignitus might know what to do." She quivered against him, but the reassuring strength from him as he held her helped her calm down and she slowly fell asleep.

Spyro woke up sharply as a cold wind blew over him. Looking up at the sky he saw nothing but wet gray clouds, and off to the west he heard thunder. He looked back down and saw he was still holding Cynder tightly against himself, and only now did he realize that her body temperature was actually higher than his.

"Cynder...Cynder, wake up," he whispered, and she groaned and slowly opened her eyes.

"What is it?" she asked, very annoyed. She flinched as a raindrop hit her face.

"That's what's it," Spyro said, slowly getting up. "C'mon, let's get back to the temple, you can sleep there."

She nodded and slowly stood up, yawning. She looked over at him and laughed. "You're still covered in your own stuff, you know."

"So're you, you're the one who really started it."

"Shouldn't we get cleaned up?"

Thunder rumbled and Spyro quickly thought. "Okay, but we'll hafta make it quick...remember the last time we bathed during a lightning storm."

She laughed again. "Yeah, I remember. You were glowing for some time after that."

"Hmph..." Spyro didn't like the memory---he'd absorbed all the electrical energy from the water and Cynder, preventing her from being harmed, but for hours after that his muscles were restless and he'd been uncomfortably aroused as the excess charge screwed with his nerves. Cynder found it funny still...they'd spent the whole day by the river while Spyro tried to move properly, but it was so funny remembering his stiff-legged walk. Still giggling at the memory Cynder followed him to the river and they quickly washed each other off, and Spyro carried her back to the temple just as the rain began to fall. They ducked through the window and shook themselves off. Spyro ran a faint flame over her, drying her off, and tucked her into bed after she'd jumped up and made herself comfortable. "You gonna need anything?"

She just yawned and shook her head with a small smile. "Nah...just sleep. That meat yesterday is still going."

"I'm gonna try to go hunting again today and bring back more, I have a feeling we'll need a good stock of food."

"Go do whatever you need to," she whispered, falling asleep. Spyro gently caressed her face before slipping off into the dojo.

Atop the huge dragon statue, Alex and Christine sat with their tails wrapped tightly together. Spyro walked in and looked up...they were looking at something between them but he couldn't tell what it was. Alex sensed someone watching them and looked down.

"Oh, hey Spyro."

"Hey. What're you two doing up there?"

"Playing chess," Christine said, still looking at the board that Spyro couldn't see. "Aaaaannnnnd...Gotcha! Checkmate again!"

"Crap..." Alex flicked something and Spyro heard the piece fall down the statue. "Oops..."

"What's chess?" Spyro asked, confused.

"It's a strategy game," Christine said, jumping down while Alex put everything away. "Each piece has a certain thing it can do and you need to use those 'abilities' to trap your opponent's king such that he has no more moves left."

"And she always beats me," Alex grumbled as he landed nearby. "Ignitus and Volteer were gonna take us to Tall Plains about that disturbance today but the looks of this storm...you definitely don't wanna fly in this."

Lightning flashed outside and thunder rumbled over the temple. "Yeah, Cynder and I slept outside last night and had to come in because of the coming rain."

"Spyro...is Cynder okay?" Christine asked, and Spyro cocked his head at her curiously.

"Why do you ask?"

"Well...I'm worried. She told me she's carrying two but she...she doesn't seem right."

Spyro's eyes widened. "Uhh..yeah, about that...she's carrying twins now. One regular egg and one twin-egg."

"That's great!" Alex said, but Christine shook her head.

"It's great, but Alex, look at how big Spyro is. Cynder's smaller than he is, she's not built for delivering a twin-egg."

Alex's smile quickly faded. "Uh oh...this is definitely a problem."

"What's a problem?" Solar asked as he came in.

"Solar! I was gonna go looking for you," Spyro said, walking up to the ice dragon. "Cynder's carrying a twin-egg and we don't know what to do...how's she gonna handle it?"

Solar looked off towards their room, obviously thinking. "So that's what I've been sensing..."

"You knew about it?"

"Inadvertently...I knew something was different but I didn't know what..."

"Will she be all right?" Christine asked.

"I honestly can't tell for sure," Solar said, sitting back on his haunches, his face clenching as he thought back. "Technically she should be fine, but with her body size there's a good chance she may be injured in delivery..."

"No! I can't let that happen!" Spyro snarled.

"Take it easy, Spyro," Solar growled. "I'm thinking."

"I'd hate to need to do rough surgery on her," Alex grumbled. "I had to once but I'm definitely not a professional."

Solar sighed. "I need to converse with Ignitus and Volteer, they may know what to do. But I have a feeling I may have some kind of medicinal solution..." He looked towards the open door of the balcony, staring off through the rain coming down. "If this ran lets up soon I can probably make something that will help her."

"I've had training with delivering," Christine said. "If needed I can help when it's time..."

"Oh! That reminds me...oh wait...forgot it, nevermind," Spyro said, but he looked at Solar and the ice dragon knew something was up.

"Spyro, come with me, we need to go find the elders. The earlier we come up with a solution the safer Cynder will be." Spyro followed Solar into the Pool of Visions room, but Spyro then led Solar into the tunnels. "Spyro? What's up?"

"Flare showed you where they're nesting, right?"

"Yep."

"And about that dream she and Cynder had?"

"Yeah..."

"Those tunnels are awfully accessible, wouldn't you say?"

Solar paused, slowly realizing what Spyro had in mind. "Ah...you're thinking of barricading the tunnels?"

"Not so much 'barricading', but adding something like concealed doors or something in the event Alex goes nuts."

"Let's find Ignitus and Volteer first, then we'll see what we can do with that."

Flare groaned and stretched, and looked around for her icy mate. She heard Alex and Christine conversing in the dojo, and not too far away she heard Terrador's deep voice followed by Spyro's.

"Solar's probably there," she said to herself, and slowly stood up and walked over to the guardians' room.

"There's no guarantee, though," Ignitus said, shaking his head. "I fear the worst..."

"Ignitus, remember, a dragonling has plenty of room inside an egg before hatching. Twin-eggs, true, are bigger, but not all that much as the two little ones are not given as much room within that space as a single baby is within its egg."

"That is true, Volteer, but the matter still stands that Cynder is still too young to safely deliver an egg of that size."

"We know, Cyril..." Ignitus sighed.

Flare gasped but no one heard her. "Cynder's carrying twins?!" She listened as Solar cleared his throat and spoke up.

"I don't think it's a good idea we all assume the worst here, the last thing Cynder needs is to see all of us getting psyched out over her."

"He does raise a point," Cyril sighed. "Spyro, why don't you let us converse on this on our own?"

"Cynder's asleep...all right, fine, I'll go."

Spyro came out of the room, his tail dragging on the floor, and Flare quietly walked beside him. "You okay, Spyro?"

A tear fell down his face. "I'm so scared for Cynder...I don't want anything bad happening to her!"

Flare sighed. "Well, Spyro, it may not help, but bad things are a part of life. We can't always prevent them...but we can deal with them the best we can at the time. You may not be able to protect Cynder from herself, but you can help her get through. You worry too much about her, I have a feeling she'll be fine."

"I guess..."

"Why don't you go be with her? Even while she's asleep?"

"Might as well..." He didn't even glance at Alex and Chrisitne as they watched him go into his room.

"Boy he gets upset over her easily," Christine said, and Flare grunted.

"It's not good for him, he's overly worried."

Spyro jumped up onto his bed by Cynder and lay down next to her. "Cynder...I can't help but worry about you now...if anything were to happen..."

"Nothing's gonna happen," she whispered, and he started.

"I thought you were asleep."

"Nope." She leaned up on her foreleg and looked at him. "Spyro, you worry too much. I'll be fine."

"But-"

She put her paw firmly on his muzzle. "Shut up. Spyro, just shut up. You get yourself going about things that you don't need to worry about."

"But I'm scared for you...for your safety..."

To his confusion she kissed him. "Spyro...think of the kids. Just be happy for our new family on the way." She smiled at him. "You're gonna be a dad, what would your kids think if they saw you worrying over every little stone in the path? For now just be happy we have one more than expected originally."

He sighed, then chuckled. "Know what? You're right...I should be happy with you."

"Of course I'm right," she whispered, pressing her nose against his. "Especially since you're their father."

Spyro laughed. "It's so weird...A year ago I couldn't wait to be one, yet here I am and I can't believe it."

"Can't believe it?!" she asked incredulously with a laugh, and took his paw and put it on her belly. "You helped make this, you'd better believe it!" They both laughed and fell into a loving kiss. Someone stepped into the room and they heard a stifled cough.

"Oh, sorry to intrude..." Alex said, stepping back out.

"Nah, you're fine," Spyro said, not opening his eyes or otherwise moving. Cynder pulled away and lay back on the bed and Spyro turned to Alex. "What is it?"

"Nothing, just checking on you two." Christine sidled up next to him and he put his arm around her. "Christine's a little worried because you were all moody earlier."

"It's hard to be worried around this one," Spyro said, sitting up and nodding towards Cynder.

"Everything okay?" Christine asked.

Cynder nodded. "Yeah, we're just excited about our parenthood..." She looked at Spyro. "To think I almost considered stopping it a month ago."

"Stopping it?" Alex and Christine asked curiously. Spyro and Cynder looked at each other---neither one knew how to explain it. Cynder coughed a little nervously.

"Dragonesses...well, apparently we can stop the pregnancy process...oh geez, how do I say it..."

Spyro went red in the face. "Bluntly, after mating, she has two days before the eggs are there to stay." They all laughed a little sheepishly at the awkwardness, but Christine seemed a little intrigued.

"I was about to go to college for nursing...how does that work, exactly?"

Spyro's face went a bit redder. "Yeah, uh...I have no clue...Solar or Volteer probably would."

"I'll go ask," Christine said, and Alex rolled his eyes and followed her. Outside the room Alex nudged her and she looked up at him.

"You gettin' an idea with that?" She looked at him, confused, and he moved his eyebrows up and down in mock-suggestion and she punched him.

"No, I'm just interested. Remember my biology grades?"

"All too well." His tail wrapped around hers and she took his paw in hers with a small grin. Solar came in from the guardians' room looking a little depressed. "Something wrong, Solar?" Alex asked.

"I'm just worried...as usual. I'm afraid for Cynder..."

"Christine has a question for you." Solar looked from Alex to Christine with a raised eyebrow. Christine blushed slightly, her ice-blue face turning a bit purple.

"Um...well, Cynder kinda brought up 'pregnancy termination' for dragons..."

Solar smirked. "Ah yes...I had to study that for a week or so back in Paralos."

"Paralos?!" the two dragon-humans asked excitedly. Solar looked at them oddly.

"You know of it?"

"Sure as-"

"Christine, not here. But yes, we know very well of it, in fact that's where we were chasing the shadow until it changed course."

"I have a few things on me adapted from Paralosin technology...or rather 'stolen'..."

Solar grinned and shook his head. "Well, to answer your question..." He sat back on his haunches and thought back. "It's a bit embarrassing to talk about...but when two dragons mate when the female is in heat, there are two kinds of eggs that have to be fertilized. One becomes the shell of the actual egg, the other is the dragon embryo. But, the embryo cannot be fertilized until it attaches to a fertilized egg-egg, which itself cannot be fertilized until it's in the womb...I forget the term for the latter, but that's how it works. A dragoness can prevent the first egg from latching onto the womb, thus preventing the process altogether."

Alex was staring at the floor but Christine was listening intently. "That's really cool," she said, and Solar cocked an eyebrow at her.

"You getting ideas?"

"NOT YOU TOO!!" she shrieked, and Solar and Alex both laughed. "No! Not yet, I need to be married first...well, I should be, I don't need to be...but I've always loved studying the differences between animals. I don't know why but I just find it cool."

Alex snorted humorously. "Yeah, she can help with a bloody birth without so much as flinching yet can't stand seeing her own cuts bleed."

Solar stood up and stretched. "Well, I'd better get back to Flare, she's probably feeling alone."

"Don't you guys need something to eat?" Alex asked, heading for the balcony, but Solar shook his head.

"Dragons are omnivores, true, but we can go for a good two days on one of those birds Spyro got."

"Shall I get them some water then?"

"Spyro and I have that covered with our ice-breath..." Solar laughed. "Here we were, towing ice chunks from the river when all we had to do was breathe ice into a bowl and melt it..." They all laughed and Solar left them to go find Flare. Alex glanced down at Christine.

"You wanna do some training?"

"Huh?"

Alex looked over at the huge stone statue, and Christine shrieked as the floor shook and the statue began sinking. "This room is also the training room, in case you haven't divined that from your spying."

"I know, it just scares me every time..." The statue sank below the floor, which closed up over it. Christine walked out into the central circular design, and Alex stood off to the side. Several wooden dummies appeared in clouds of sparks, and Alex grinned as he watched Christine dispatch them. She couldn't fly well yet but she was able to maintain some midair attacks. Ignitus came into the room to watch them.

"Alex, are you sure she should be training? After what happened last time?"

"Oh..." Alex's eyes widened. "I forgot all about that!" He looked quickly at Christine. "Hey Chrissy! Kill them quickly and you're done! We shouldn't be using this!"

Christine grabbed a dummy and spun around rapidly with it, using it as a high-speed club and throwing the others to the side. They all disappeared in puffs of smoke and shards of wood. Confused, she looked over at Alex. "What's wrong with training?"

"Ther's been a problem with the dummies being possessed, as Alex and the others can tell you," Ignitus explained. "You can train if you really want to, if you're prepared to wipe out anything that may come up. I'd rather not chance it, but keep it low-key if you really want to vent some energy."

Christine sighed, her tail slowly moving through the air. "I kinda want to train...would one dummy at a time be good?"

"I think we should practice our flying," Alex said, and Ignitus nodded.

"That would probably be best, especially now that the enemy's planned attack is coming up and flight would no doubt give you both an edge in combat."

He left them and they spent the next few hours practicing their flying. In the bedroom, Spyro heard them flapping and falling, and he shook his head with a small laugh as he thought back to his first time flying and how he'd done it so well. Cynder rolled over and licked his cheek.

"What's so funny?"

"Just listening to Alex and Christine trying to fly..."

"I hope they learn how to soon...we have a little under a month left..."

Spyro nuzzled her with a smile. "Don't worry. They will, I know it."

She nuzzled back and ran her cheek all along his neck, but with an unhappy sigh, and Spyro knew she was trying to comfort herself. "I'm so worried...what'll we do for that attack?"

He hugged her tight and kissed her forehead. "Don't you worry. No matter what happens, in the end everything will be fine."
