Chapter 7

Alex was still floating in the white space that he somehow entered when he picked up the piece of cloth he dropped. But he was now very worried. Also in this space was another fur just like him that was claiming to be his brother!

"Brother?" Alex managed to stammer out.

"My name is Zander. I am your twin and I waiting for you. Come to me. Come find me. I am waiting on you!" The figure suddenly started to disappear as quickly as it appeared.

"Wait! Come back! What do you mean?" Alex said while the space he was in collapsed around him. Alex woke up this time back in the ceremony room with a quite a few concerned furs around him. The dragon was checking him for signs of injury but he was staring at Alex's head. Alex was breathing heavy but he was slowly coming to.

"Alex? What happened? You passed out as soon as you touched your power line" His grandfather asked him.

"I don't remember. It is really fuzzy. My head hurts like hell. But what was that power line you mentioned?" Alex asked as he rose to his feet.

"The head band. It is the link that allows you to have a mortal body and still have your powers. It is basically where your powers are stored when you are not using them. It is also quite dangerous since it can transfer small amounts of your energy into others. It is how we enslave mortals who have been infected by the dark bloods." The dragon responded. "I am sure you want to hear everything we have been keeping from you so you can ask anything."

"Maybe later! I have something more important to check out right now. Where is dad anyway?" Alex answered still a bit flustered.

"He has been restrained and imprisoned awaiting a trail. You will not be allowed to see him until a full investigation is conducted and a trial is held." The dragon said firmly trying to hide how stunned he was that Alex had something more important to do. This was the kid who was so adamant about learning the secrets that were being kept from him such a short time ago.

"What is going to happen to him?" Alex inquired

"He may be imprisoned for a few centuries depending on the results. He may even be executed for treason if your supposed brother is not found."

"Wait brother?" Alex asked the dragon.

"Yes. You may have been born as a twin. The reason the ceremony was held today was because your father did not know your real birthday. Today is your birthday. Your father has broken all the rules when it comes to offspring. He will be dealt with." The dragon said

"What if I can find my twin? Will that help dad?"

"It can. Might even let him avoid jail time. But how are you going to find him huh? You should stay put and just focus on your training and missions; let the adults handle this one."

Alex did not approve of such an answer. He was going to help his father no matter what the dragon said. But he would need help and he knew the perfect little mouse to ask.

"I am going home then." Alex said then ran off grabbed his clothes and headed home.

The boss dragon looked at him curiously before turning to Marcus who was standing there waiting. "Something is not right. You caught that slight change in his presence when his hair turned black for that one second?" The dragon asked the naked cat.

"I did. I am going to keep a close eye on him. I will also ask Tommy to handle Alex's training. They seem to have similar abilities when it comes to stealth." Marcus answered.

"Good. I have my brothers to deal with and my father is really going to be on me about taking care of gammaton. I hope Alfred is handling him properly." The dragon said and walked away.

A few minutes later Alex had reached back home and to his pleasant surprise Kyle and the gang were there waiting to help with Rin's training. Alex quickly went up to Kyle and dragged him aside.

"Hey, let go of me! What is your problem Alex?" The mouse asked Alex.

"I need some help. I need you to help me find information on a certain person." Alex responded.

"Alright! What is this person's name?"

Alex fidgeted for a second. "I have no name. All I have is an image of them in my head."

Kyle grunted. "Ugh, this better be important then." Kyle brought out his phone and then sucked the information right out of Alex but looked at him angrily when he saw the image. "This is the person? This is you with black hair!"

"That is my twin brother. I need to find him or my dad might be executed." Alex responded.

"Alright let try and find something... well that was easy" Kyle had become stunned as he started his search.

"Found something?" Alex inquired happily.

"Somewhat. He is town right now. I saw his image on one of the security cameras at the mansion yesterday. He was outside the mansion just before the party. I think I heard someone say he was in town visiting the Lincolns who live a few miles from here at the Mazomanie gated community." Kyle said trying to remember all the details.

"Mazomanie? I know where that is. Thanks Kyle." Alex said then ran off.

Kyle was still pondering something his search had given him some weird results. It should not have been that easy to find the guy but it was. Something smelt off. "Hey River Follow me for a second please I will make it worth your while!" Kyle shouted to river who came nodding and followed Kyle.

It was a few hours later Alex Stood at the wall surrounding the local gated community. Mazomanie was the only gated community in the area. It only housed about five families but they were ones who wished for more privacy.

He knew it would be a task to get in since the security around the place was so tight but he knew somehow he could get in and get out pretty clean. He just had to use his powers. But he was stopped when Kyle and River finally caught up to him.

"Hey stop Alex!" Kyle said "I can get you in pretty easily."

"Really! How?" Alex asked back.

"My Aunt lives here. I visit frequently. They will let me in. just follow me" Kyle said as he led the three of them to the gate where to guard was more than happy to let them in. River and Alex were glad to know that Kyle had such a cloud over him.

They started looking around the neighborhood discreetly in order to find Zander and it did not take long to find him or should I say he found them.

"Hey what brings you to my neck of the woods?" Asked a feline voice from behind the three boys. They all jumped and turned to see a boy who was basically the spitting image of Alex standing there. He was so similar they were actually wearing the same outfit. The only difference was with the hair, tip of the tails and the eyes. Zander's were all black instead of red like Alex's.

"Well Kyle? Are you going to answer me or did you forget who I am?" The feline was clearly asking Kyle.

"I don't think we have met before." Kyle recovered and said.

The cat sighed. "I guess you don't remember me from you aunt's Christmas party last year? Ah well. I just moved here today in fact. Hope to see more of you. You two Alex!" The feline said while winking at Alex.

"How do you know my name?" Alex asked uncertainly.

"Well I am the one who called you out here." Zander's posture and demeanor suddenly changed and became that of a predator. "Why would I not know the name of my twin brother?"

Alex gulped a bit but before he could answer two figures came walking up behind Zander. One was a black Jaguar muscular and lean. Weird thing as he was completely nude and acting as if it was nothing. Right next to him however was a figure Alex dreaded. It was the black wolf from a few days ago. The one who destroyed Rin's house and killed his parents. He was still wearing the armor with blue feathers that he had.

Alex got defensive. He knew this was trouble and he would need to act soon. River and Kyle also knew who this person was. They had heard the stories about him. General Blue. One of the ten generals that ran the Dark immortals army that was trying to take over this mortal world. Blue was one of the more prestigious ones and had fought with the guardians hundreds of times. He had defeated then on a few occasions as well. Most of the time both sides withdrew from battle with lots of causalities. General Blue was someone who they knew they stood no chance against like they were now.

The general recognized Alex quickly though and prepared himself for battle. He started to gather his energy and that caused Alex to instinctively put up a wall of flames around him and his friends. River and Kyle were both surprised by Alex's response and both prepared for battle themselves.

General blue had gathered a mass of swirling feathers and was preparing to unleash them but-

"General blue! Stand down this instant!" Zander ordered

Much to the boys surprise the general complied with Zander's order. Alex dropped his shield of flames but still remained on high alert.

"Prince Zander, that boy is a member of the guardians who have been stopping our conquest of this realm. I employ you to let me destroy him!" General blue pleaded with... Prince! Zander.

"I already know that. But he is my twin brother. He is the one I was born from. I refuse to let you kill him. I shall be the one to deal with him." Zander said but that made Alex even more sacred.

"You are a prince? But... I don't understand! What the hell are you?" Alex asked the feline.

"I am the thirteenth son of King Baldimore of the Dark Empire. I was created to rule over this realm for this reason I was given a mortal birth. My father implanted me into the womb of a young woman who had the most tolerance for immortal energy. By coincidence that woman was also pregnant with you. My dad molded me out of the baby that was there. Basically he created me using you as the mold. But he did not know until much later that the baby he molded me from was an offspring of his rival kingdom. I wanted to seek this baby out and find out more about him. And here you are standing right in front of me. The boy who molded the prince." Zander proclaimed.

Alex took a step back. This was insane, what the hell was this guy talking about? Something did not feel right.

"Master. Your father will not be pleased that you have made contact with the guardians even if it is the one who poses no threat what so ever." The jaguar said.

"Z I have things under control. My father has given me complete control of this realm. I will do what I please as long as it is within reason anyway. Besides I want to know who my competition will be for recruiting the dark bloods that inhabit this town. And it looks like they already have a few of them identified." Zander said as he took out a cell phone. But it was Kylee's phone that he had.

Kyle quickly searched himself for his phone but did not find it. "Hey! That is mine! Give it back!"

Zander threw the phone at Kyle. "I have no more need for it. I have the names of those you have identified but I will give you a head start on recruiting them. But just remember I don't intend on letting my home become overrun with rebel forces. Well I have training to do. Goodbye for now" Zander went to turn away from the three boys but was stopped by Alex.

"Hold it! What do you mean I pose no threat to you?" Alex covered himself in his white flames. "You used my dad and my mom to get your way. Don't think for a minute you can just walk away."

Kyle and River both thought Alex had gone insane. There was no way they could fight a royal guard, general blue and a dark prince. They would be slaughtered. But Alex wanted to prove a point and he let his emotions get the better of him. Zander looked at him passively then sighed before he covered himself in black flames. The sheer power of the black flames eclipsed Alex's. Alex started to shake as he felt the heat and power coming from those flames. He knew now that this guy was way above his head when it came to sheer power. No way was he going to be able to handle someone of this caliber without help. But Kyle and River were both frozen in fear. They were more receptive to the power of a dark immortal and they were visibly frozen just by Zander's presence. Suddenly Alex realized his white flames were dying out and being replaced with black ones. He quickly suppressed his powers.

"I control your powers. Better than you can actually. Our powers are linked and whoever is strongest can control them. You are so far out of my league that I can manipulate your powers at will." Zander paused then raise his paw to show off one of the aspects of the link they shared. "And I think I will hold on to this just to prove my point."

Alex gasped. In Zander's hand was his powerline, the silk headband that was said to store most of his powers. Without that he could not use his full powers.

"Hey give that back." Alex whined before Zander sent his aura through Alex's body paralyzing him in total fear.

"Maybe when you are strong enough to take it back. I will be around whenever you think you can actually take it back come get it." Zander finally walked off leaving Alex and his friends frozen there.

And there they stood for what seemed like an eternity but it was only five minutes. When they were able to move again they all fell to the ground shivering. Their bodies were weak and their legs refused to hold up their weight.

"That guy. He is... so... powerful. I could do nothing but shake in fear. What power he has and he is still training. Can we even stand up to a guy like that?" River asked the other two. Kyle could not meet his eyes he was clutching his cell phone tightly in his palm as he was afraid of losing something so precious to him.

Alex was totally spaced out not only did he meet his twin and literally feel the difference between their power he had his powerline stolen. That was going to really hurt him. But what was worse he was trying to help his dad but his dad would be in even more trouble.

"Guys let's head back" River said gathering himself together. Kyle and Alex weak heartedly nodded and rose to their feet for a very solemn track home. It would be quite the depressing walk after what they had just seen and endured.

It took them a while to walk at the slow pace they had descended to and during it not a word was uttered between them. They were all too lost in their thoughts to even acknowledge the others as they made their finally back to Alex's mansion.

Once they entered they saw Alfred with Rin in his arms. Rin had passed out from his training and the others were all tired out as well. The boss was there standing in the hall looking at them angrily with Marcus behind him.

"Where did you go Alex? The minute you are able to leave the house you run out without as much as a word?" The boss said at Alex but Alex could not respond.

Alex just went over and punched a wall and started crying. Both River and Kyle dropped to the floor unable to hold themselves up any longer. The boss realized something was wrong.

"What happened to you?" The boss asked out of concern.

"We went to find Alex's twin brother." Kyle said softly but loud enough everyone could hear.

"And? What happened did you find him?" Marcus inquired.

"We did." Alex said while fighting back his tears. "We found him. But... I wish we did not. I really wish we didn't find him"

"What is the problem? Where is he? If you found him then your dad may have a chance at a fair trial." The boss interjected.

"Dad won't be helped by this news. My twin brother is the son of the Dark king." Alex said wiping away his tears.

Gasps could be heard from throughout the room. Shadow, crimson and Marlon were looking on in concern as they could not believe their ears. The boss was the most concerned though. "How I that possible? The dark king? That is impossible! Unless...."

"The king used the mortal with the highest tolerance for immortal energy. That mortal happened to be my mother who was pregnant with me at the time. The king used me as the base to create his son. I don't understand it either but he definitely looked like me." Alex answered back.

"This is problematic. If a dark prince is in the vicinity he will probably try and recruit the rebels." Marcus thought out loud.

"It gets worse. He took my phone and got the names and faces of all the dark bloods we identified last night." Kyle responded.

"How did he get your phone? You never let anyone touch that thing! You safeguard it with your life!" Benjamin exclaimed.

"He took it from me. I don't know how or when he did it but he took it right from under me. He was so powerful all I could do was freeze up in fear. I could not even lift a finger. And even then he had a royal guard and general blue with him."

"General blue!" multiple furs yelled out.

"You guys should count yourselves lucky that you encountered so many powerful enemies and left with your lives!" Marcus injected.

"We only got away because Zander ordered them not to hurt us because he just wanted to meet his brother." River added in.

"Then why do you boys look so down? Especially Alex? What did he do to you?" The boss had to ask.

"He... took it. He took my powerline. He has it and control of my powers. He replaced my white flames with his black ones. I cannot gather up my power without him interfering with it." Alex cried out. He was really powerless now and he knew it.

Both Marcus and the boss felt the sting of his words. They air in the room became thick and tense as everyone realized the damage that had been caused by just one encounter.
