#8 of Burying Bones: A CPT Side story (WIP)

At the Pokémon Center, Nurse Joy is called quickly to care for the hybrid woman, her eyes taking in the brutality of this young woman's condition, as she searches the eyes of the Gardevoir carrying her, she's aware of the urgency.

Alex watches her body being cared for from what seems to her another world. Trapped in the dream world, she's only able to watch helplessly as her body is scrubbed clean and bandaged, placed into a bed meant for larger Pokémon and watched over by a young woman, a Growlithe, and a three-legged Mightyena in shifts. Alex watches as Saki and Jade sit next to her for what seems like days, maybe weeks or months, and As Arkanon pleads for her to rise from her sleep and come back to him.

Alex sighs and whispers back to him from her out of body place that she wishes she could, and gives herself over to her tears. As she watches her family, and after several days, her children visiting her in a constant vigil of support and love, she is oblivious to her growing condition. As she feels herself slipping back into her body, her eyes flicker open, and it is only then that she registers the pain.

"Arkanon? Saki? Jade? You're all here." Alex whispers in between gasping breaths, her voice raspy and weak from lack of use. Saki immediately grips her younger sister's hand, squeezing it without disturbing the IV needle taped in place.

"Nurse Joy said you might never wake up. I'm glad to see she was wrong." Arkanon murmurs to his mate, gently nuzzling her with a look of sorrow in his eyes. Alex notices the look and gazes questioningly at him.

"Alex, Steelix saved your life, you were attacked, at least we believe you were attacked, by the same Zoroark responsible for the numerous hybrid murders across three regions. We know this, because he left his DNA at every murder." Saki whispers softly, allowing her sister to understand what's going on.

"You mean inside the victims. He raped me." Alex states, her memories of the nightmare state attack flooding her mind. Arkanon growls protectively as he glares at Saki for upsetting his mate.

"Sweetie, I know this will be hard to hear, but I want you to know we're here for you no matter what may happen. You've been unconscious for almost two months, and well, you're pregnant." Saki whispers softly, gently kissing her younger sister's forehead. Alex takes a moment to allow the information to sink in, she's been lying in this bed for two months, and there's a baby growing in her again, not just a baby, the child of a serial killer hybrid who raped and almost killed her.

"Get it out of me, I don't, I can't raise that THING!" Alex begins panicking, screaming as she rips her IV out. Several Chansey are called to sedate her and as she falls back to sleep, a part of her mind reminds her that the child growing inside her is the most innocent of the parties involved.

Weeks pass with Alex in the hospital, transferred from the Pokémon Center after being declared stable enough to move by ambulance. The normally strong redhead seems withdrawn at the thought of carrying the pup of a serial killer, more so when she finds out that the pup she's carrying is actually triplets. By the time the hospital staff realizes her condition, and the cause behind it, the news reaches Alex that it's far too late for her to kill the pups growing inside her. As she's declared well enough to go home nearly a month later, she's resigned herself to raising the demon's spawn.

As she reaches the island manor, she feels almost lost, unable to look at the now ruined Sky Pillar Island where she was attacked. As Alex curls up on her bed, her strong Arcanine mate beside her, for the first time, she feels hopelessly trapped within her own skin.

"Mommy, why are you so sad? I thought the doctors said I'm gonna be a big brother, isn't that a good thing? Daddy once said that pups are to be loved and celebrated, it's the way of canine kind." A voice whispers as Alex cries. Looking down, she sees the golden hair of her son, Conleth, the boy nearly the size of a ten year old, despite being only a year and a half. As Alex pulls her son onto the bed and holds him tightly, she's aware that her pups are picking up on her depression and behavior towards this litter, and she decides it would be best if they just died.

"Don't worry about it, Conleth, my Golden Boy. I'm just in a lot of pain from that attack, you know how when you need a heal potion when you get a burn, but until it's treated it hurts you? Well, I got a deep scratch by a mean Pokémon and until it heals completely, it will continue causing me pain. Unlike you and your siblings, potions don't work on me, so I have to wait." Alex whispers, trying not to cry at the thought of her son worrying about her so much. As she places a hand on her belly, she can feel a strong kick from one of the pups inside.

"Please get better soon, Mommy." Conleth whispers as he gently kisses Alex's forehead and runs out the door. Arkanon murrs proudly after his son and looks at his distressed mate.

"My sweet little mate, please don't worry. Our pups are strong and wise for their years. I think Conleth just wants pups younger than him to play with without having to worry about Cerberus and Layla burning him all the time. Once these pups are born, I'll try to find homes for them far away, if you'd like." Arkanon comments, trying everything he can to make his mate and trainer happy again.

"No, I won't worry, but how can I love something that was forced on me? I didn't make these pups, they were put inside me by a monster who would have gutted me had Steelix not interrupted him. I owe that Iron Snake my life." Alex comments, seemingly entering a whole new level of self loathing. Arkanon sighs deeply and repeatedly nuzzles his mate, trying to make her feel safe and happy the way she used to be. As Alex slips into a fitful slumber, her last thought is one last attempt to get rid of the evil growing within her.

As Arkanon wakes from sleep, he's content to find Alex still sleeping beside him, and he decides to go and pick some of her favorite berries from the forest they grew up in. As he enters Jade's room, the Gardevoir sighing softly as she reads the fire dog's aura, the two agree to try and cheer Alex up. Cerberus and Conleth both beg to come with them, and so, leaving Alex, Saki, Layla, Jeovi, and the newly acquired Chandelure that Saki's been playing with, the group teleports to the Mago Orchard near their old house. As the group picks berries and arguments ensue about what to make with all the berries they've picked, Jade keeps having strange feelings about returning quickly to the manor. After a while, she tells Arkanon about these feelings, and a second later, a wave of distress floods Jade and they hurry back to the manor with the boys.

When they arrive, they find Alex collapsed on the bathroom floor in a pool of blood, Layla crying over her. As Saki relays what happened from what she could piece together, Arkanon roars and lifts Alex onto his back, ignoring the feeling of her blood seeping into his fur as Jade teleports them both to the hospital.

After Alex is stabilized again, the doctors pull Jade aside and talk to her for several minutes.

"Your trainer tried to abort the pups growing inside her. We told her we couldn't do it because of the health risks it would cause her, and we still can't abort them. She failed, but caused heavy internal damage to herself in the attempt. She'll carry these pups to term, and once they're removed from her by C-section, we'll have to remove her reproductive organs. If she has these pups naturally it will kill her, and if she tries to have more after them, it will very likely cost her both her life and the lives of her children. We've managed to repair most of the damage, but we had to put packing and sutures in her to keep her from bleeding out. She cannot get out of bed until the pups are delivered." The doctors comment to the Gardevoir, the entire time, Jade nods and looks over to Alex's sedated form. As she teleports home to deliver the news to Saki and Jeovi, Arkanon lies down by Alex's side and remains there until the others arrive.

Conleth immediately runs to his mother's side, crying softly until his father nudges him away, allowing Layla and Cerberus to stay by their mother for several hours until they fall asleep. As Jade takes the children home, Jeovi glares darkly at Alex until she's recalled into her Pokéball by Saki.

As days pass into weeks, and weeks into months, Alex is prepped for surgery to bring her pups into the world. As the doctors wheel her into the room, Saki sits with a worried and pacing Arkanon, intent on seeing his mate through this. As the minutes tick by, a strangled cry echoes through the room as the first of three Zorua hybrids are brought into the world. The first child, a large male, appears more human than his father, with only the long red hair and a short red tail marking him as anything but human. The second pup is also a male, again only his hair color and tail showing that he's not fully human. The third pup is a female, and as she greets the world with an inhuman growling, it's obvious these pups are over half human. As the babies are cleaned and wrapped in blankets, a soft congratulations is whispered to Alex as the doctors clean her up and wheel her into a private room so her family can visit.

Arkanon bursts through the door, intent on seeing the monsters that came out of his mate, but as he gazes into the three baskets where three red haired human-looking babies are resting, he can't force himself to hate them. Sighing, he resigns himself to taking the role of father with these pups. As Jade walks into the room behind the fire dog, she gazes into the minds of the pups, finding no malice there, she sighs.

"They're innocent in all this. They have no idea of the horrors of their existence, only the need for food, care, and love. She may not love them, but Alex needs to know they are half of her, they need her." Jade whispers, her voice filled with an almost sorrowful tone as she cuddles the solitary female against her chest.

"They look almost completely human, Jade." Saki whispers as she looks at her beloved Gardevoir holding her niece. As Saki picks up the eldest male, the baby growls before letting out a more human whimper as she holds him close to her. As the doctor walks up to them, Saki turns to face him.

"Your sister is very lucky, and she survived both surgeries. These children of hers are 75% human, and 25% Zoroark. However, they will grow quickly, possibly faster than her previous litter. Also, Due to the laws all medical personnel follow, you don't need to worry about radicals hunting you down and whatnot. We take special care of all humanoids, hybrid , human, or otherwise. That being said, your sister cannot have any more litters, her attempt at killing these ones cost her reproductive abilities. With her depression, We've put her on antidepressants in the hope that she'll be able to care for these pups, but with the meds, she cannot breastfeed them. They need to be fed every three hours, and they'll need to be checked at a Pokémon center for the usual diseases, since human medicine can only do so much. Alex should be ready to go home in a couple days." The doctor explains, handing Saki and Jade a bottle of formula each as he picks up the last pup and feeds him.

"Also, have you thought of names yet?" He asks Arkanon, the Arcanine smiling up at him.

"Only for the female so far. Her name will be Kitara, my daughter will be Kitara." Arkanon replies, his voice filled with love for the small child, despite her origin. As he looks over to the eldest son, he tries to think of a fitting name for him, the growling boy opening his eyes to reveal reddish brown orbs.

"This one, this one will be Raijuro, eldest son of our second litter. He will be their leader someday." Arkanon whispers, an old habit from Arcanine packs of giving the pups of a difficult birth a name and a wish for their life coming to him. As he moves to the second pup of the litter, he gazes into the child's green eyes, a soft whimper sounding through the child as he reaches a hand up and grips some of Arkanon's fur.

"This little one, shall be called Ithal, someday, he will be strong, the protector of his sister." Arkanon whispers, softly gazing at the younger male. Deep in his mind, he only hopes that his mate can accept these pups, as it was their father, not they, that hurt her so badly.
