Chapter 12: Returning home
"It's a fork Z, which way?" Raph asked as they did come upon a split. Zero knew what he was doing when he gave his answer
"you guys go left, I'm going right, By myself" Raph knew well enough Zero could handle himself. So he nodded as they ran down left, and he smiled as the triceratons came the way that lead to the split "ok then, time to go to work" he said as he held out his hand, and focused. It started small, a spark, and grew into an orb of the fire. He was sustaining it and he let the fire go blue before he flicked his arm, sending a softball sized fireball at them "tell your boss he can go to hell" he said as he walked down right, as the room behind him as the machinery was going up on flames and exploding. He sighed as he as he watches strange symbols travel across his arms "I feel stronger than usual" he said, and accidentally bit his tongue when he closed his mouth "Shit!"
Opening his mouth, he touched his tongue, and brushed across something smooth as bone. His teeth were elongating " this can't be good" he said as he ran down the corridor.
Turned out that the two turns led to the same place. He heard an explosion and knew the room he was in had exploded. He sighed and walked forward, into a door. He was worried for the group, and the symbols continued to travel across his body. He did not know what was to happen, but he was changing.
He soon caught up to the group, Raph was concerned about the symbols, but he assures the turtle. He looked towards Traximus "you know how to fly that garbage heap there? "He asked, pointing to a docked ship.
" I do not know, but we have company" he said as a ship landed, and two of the Dino's walked out holding a robot, who was screaming for help. Zero took Blake's rifle and looked into the scope "Blake, see the chinks on that armor, if you aim for the legs, you disable the armor from the gaps" he said. He handed the guy the gun. Blake lines up each shot and pulled the trigger, sending a beam and hit the ankles of the Armor.
The Dino's suits locked up, and they fell, releasing the robot "Z it won't last long, hurry" Techie said as zero jumped, for they were on a catwalk, down, as he lamded he threw the large rectangular case in the air and held the two of the cross chakrams out.
He slamed the blades at the ground, sticking into the metal ground, startling the guards as they stood up. Zero walked up to the triceratons. One went to throw a punch. Zero slapped it down, and in the same motion, sent his hand up, smashing his wrist into the Dino's face, sending blood from The Dino's mouth
"I'm going to enjoy kicking your asses" he said and took a martial arts stance. The other guard ran at him, only to receive a shoe to the face, his horn cracked and his head twisted. He fell unconscious.
The other one drew his blaster. It was knocked away in a kick, he looked at the Dino, who fainted. "Wimp" he said; helping the robot up. "Hello?" His hands and feet hurt like hell now, damn scaled hides. He then tied them up to both of the giant cross chakrams. A goodbye present, these guys needed better guards.
The robot looked relieved "hello friend. I'm doctor huneycutt, and you saved my life" he said. Zero nodded and introduced himself "Zero, a fine name for a warrior like yourself" he said.
Zero chuckled "Warrior? Nah. I'm just who I am" he said, careful to hide those fangs he was growing. His mouth was beginning to hurt a little as well "Guys, can I talk to you privately real quick?" He asked.
Raph, the turtles, Techie, and Blake were shocked at what zero told them, and showed them. Donnie said the teeth were real "might be a side effect if that magic ruby" he said as his diagnosis "if magic can do almost anything, you can probably switch your form if your changing" he said.
Zero was pretty optimistic "what of I lose my mind? I'm no use to anyone if that happens." Donnie shook his head and smacked zero in the back of the head
"your strong, you won't lose your mind" he said. That was his ultimatum, so Zero couldn't really change his mind "Ok, everyone else is waiting on us then"
They returned to the rest of the guys outside the ship and soon everyone was inside, preparing for launch. Hunneycutt stated he could fly the ship, so he walked over to the controls, the fingers if his robot hand went into the wrist area and a rod came out, and he inserted it into a a sot, he smiled "ok, I have access to the the ships systems. Shall we be off?" He asked.
Zero nodded "lets, I hate these douchbags, no offense, Traximus." He said "the sooner we can get home, the sooner I can fix some things" he said. Scales had began to appear on his arms now. He was worried, but not as much as before. He was going to be driven by himself, and not the instincts of whatever he was changing into. He looked at the others "I don't know how long until I will become whatever I'm becoming, but I know how to change forms" he pulled out the small book from a pouch connected to one of his scythe sheathes. He opened it "as long as I never forget what either form looks like, I can become them again. I think I need some photos so I don't forget." He smiled "this is going to be very random, but I think we will get home soon" he said.
He looked towards the professor and sighed "ok, lets get to this planet of yours, we will keep you out of trouble" he said.
The trip was to be long and boring, so Zero set himself up in the master bedroom. The door was locked and he stood in front of the mirror. The symbols disappeared, except for one on top of his heart area.
He sighed "This is turning out to be a real annoying thing, magic" he said to no one in particular.
They had company exactly when they got the ship near. A man's face appeared on a holo screen "Identify yourself!" He said. Zero nodded and took up a military stance, he had changed into a long sleeved jacket to conceal the scales on his arms, and everyone went into a military position, just like they had practiced.
"Agent Zachary Thompson, from the west colonies, sir. We were coming aboard a frigate, but the triceratons attacked with their leader. Our frigate was crippled, and only three of us stole onto the leaders ship, and commandeered it, the leader escaped" he said "we are flying in because we are here to deliver something. " he said.
The man nodded "good, Mr. Thompson, but what is this delivery you have?" He asked. The turtles and the professor were hidden so he pulled up holo images "locked away in a metal crate inside the cargo is a fugative robot claiming to be the recently deceased Professor Hunneycutt. He did prove to be a very intelligent robot, so we put the fugative on captivity" Hunneycutt had told them his story, so he used it all to his advantage "We are currently at a course for the landing area, with your clearance, we can land"
The man nodded "your cleared to land" he said. His face disappeared. Zero sighed and sat down. Everyone came out of hiding and he looked at Hunneycutt "were you sure it be the best idea to use you as bait?" He asked.
The doctor nodded "they want me to build a transporter, but I figured out what to do. I can make a one timer. It'll transport you to your Transmat, and that one here will destroy itself, and the base with it. Also, I would very much like to join you back to your planet" he said.
Zero nodded "that means we will get home soon" he said. He had some doubts, but they could pull it off.
(Flashback: Mrs. Mason)
Zero waved towards Ms. Mason, or Mrs. Carter, her maiden name. he watched her check out from the hospital. She had told him her plan for the future "your going to move to your old house? What's the address, I need info of in going to get it to Hunter" he said.
She handed him an large envelope "everything you need is in here. I'm sorry I have to leave, but I don't have much tying me to New York City anymore, and I'm afraid that Hunter's father's friends may look for me here. You will find me outside of New York in one if the smaller towns though. I have given everything you need, Even the key to the Mason house. Please forgive me, and Hunter if you can. You did good. I wish I had the courage to do something, but I froze up. He got me because I didn't know what to do. You never broke your promise, I'm right here" she said "broken bones is better than death." She said. She was wrapped up in bandages, but she still had the will to stand up, let alone leave.
That was the last time he saw her in New York. He was determined to find Hunter, who thought his own mother was dead.
(Present)
Zero walked out of the shuttle, he had taken off the stuff that had HUD his arms. There were guards posted at each exit, 4 in total. Light security for a military base hangar. The scales were no longer on his arms, he looked normal "We'll then, Where's the robot?" The General asked, striding with obvious pride towards him "I've never seen or heard if you and your not on any roster. Who are you?" Duh, it took them long enough, he thought.
"My name is of no business of yours, you corrupt bastard" He let the magic flow through his body, and it happened. The wind kicked up dust from the while room, swirling around him, blocking him out from view. The General had quickly ducked behind some crates and loaded a pistol. The winds had died down, and what stood there was not a human, or not physically. "let's see of I can't kick your asses" the voice was gruff, and very deep.
The General came from cover and aimed the pistol, only to drop it in shock of what he saw "What are you?" He asked.
"Your worst nightmare" Stanging in Zero's place was a humanoid dragon. Standing at 6'5 and built to the brim with muscle. The scythes hung in his hands "I am the Harbinger of your destruction" Using a quote from Mass Effect, he grinned, shoeing the entirety of his teeth "now, I don't have all day, I have very important things to do back home, so I need to kick your asses and get moving."
The guards had run up, but Zero was quick to slice their guns up "don't think so!" He yelled, sending a very loud echo through the ship, he quickly closed his maw, that was louder than he anticipated, Very strong vocal cords. One of the guards fell over, fainting, the overs made a break for it. He face palmed and gave a signal. The others came from the ship, Blake punched the general and took his gun, along with all the ammo he had on him. The turtles were also holding a lot of equipment.
"So that's what your looking like nowadays, also, Seriously dude, change back, you really look odd, it'll take a bit to get used to it" the dragon form faded to dust and swirled around him, dispersing, revealing Zero's regular form "Better"
Zero sighed, and they walked through the station, oddly enough, Zero's yell must have triggered some evacuation protocol, no one was in sight. No alarms either "Must be using silent alarm systems" he observed. Out of the three of them, he did the most undercover work. That's how he met April and the turtles in the first place, infiltrating stockman's to get to the bottom of some Foot activity.
They came into an assembly room "I can set it up here everyone. Donnie, can you get access to the power supply? I need it hooked up for when we power it" There was sounds if an engine, obvious that the General took the Triceraton flagship.
While they were busy building the transmat, Zero and Raph were sitting snugly together. "hey Z, I'm going to start wearing Human clothing a lot, before I honestly saw no use for it except to blend in, but seeing you wear them all the time, I'd like to try it" he said. Zero agreed with him.
Leo and Blake had finally started warming up about the whole relationship thing. They were now holding hands as they watched the two brains start to work on the machine. Zero smiled at Blake, and got a tap on his shoulder "Zero, was it?" it was Traximus, he say down near then "what's it like, Earth?" He asked. Zero told him a good amount if stuff "I wouldn't mind living there, even if we go into your sewers to your previous home, it's better than on a chunk of your dead world"
The transmat was finished quickly and everyone stood within it "let's go home, everyone" Zero said and it happened, quick evolution to miss it, but they disappeared in a flash and a beam shot through the roof and through space. Leaving a self destructing device on an abandoned space station as it blew up and spread debris everywhere.
New York
They had arrived safely and found Casey and April, who said they were only gone for two minutes. No one argued with them.
Zero looked out if the window and frowned, he needed to find Hunter soon, and give him something he needed. He opened his Shellcell and dialed up a number "Joker, I need to set up a party and invite one Hun of the Purple Dragons" he said to the phone.
The Parkour runners voice came in onus and clear "Sure thing, formal or casual" he asked.
"Formal, I'm feeling up for hosting an extravagant Masquerade Ball, how about you" with an approving sound, Joker hung up "This will be fun" he said.
