Five Dragons: TLoP: Chapter 8: A Long List
Five Dragons TLoP:
Chapter 8: A Long List He slowly opened his eyes and
looked into the dark void. A
faint crackling sparked a blaze in five
settings of silver, which were set up around Roland.
He stood on a black
and white mosaic pattern that showed a draconic image. Surprised,
he looked around the
room. He could only see as
far as it admitted
of the warm light. Otherwise
there was only darkness around him.A deep long breath
came from the endless shadows and came resistant
closer. The slightly flickering
flames startled in a strong
pulse and shot up.
Roland kept his
right hand protectively over his
face and let his gaze jumpy between the thin columns
of flame back and forth quickly.
He noticed how the
symbol on his hand back in a faint blue light
began to glow. Above him,
the thin fire whips
moved in together, whirled in a circle and shot in
front of him into the ground. The
flames towered again and gave a gap in the
emptiness price. From the open portal a little figure stepped out, covered into an orange red robe.
The hood pulled over the head she
slowly came before Roland with together held arms. She
wore a gold chain around the
neck. The sparkling symbol
attached to them which was identical to the mark on Roland's hand back.
After the person has entered another figure from the crack. He wore a splendid armor,
which had the same color as that of the robe. Also
on the same icon was
to be discovered. He stood beside the
stranger, leaning his arm on the
hilt of his sword and looked at Roland with the empty eyes of his helmet
visor. Roland recognized
the knight, but he did not seem
interested in talking. Instead, the person approached
in robe."Hello Roland," came a soft female
voice across the room. Roland
looked a little confused at the shadows in the hood.
"You have been developed up really
well." continued the voice.
"Do I know you?" Roland
asked directly. The
person threw back the hood
and showed her bright face. Long dark brown hair fell like a smooth veil over her shoulders. A golden tiara adorned her
forehead with an oval orange-red
gemstone. A light
blue glowing symbol was burned over her left
eye, as was the case with Roland's hand
back. She looked
at him with two colored
eyes out of the half-closed lids.
The right deep blue, the left turquoise and with a warm smile on her thin lips. She was a little smaller than Roland and looked up at
him in his eyes. He recognized surprised a short bright twinkle
in her pupils. "I
should hope so." She replied with a smile and began to pace around
him. Roland remained mentally fixed to the sparkle
of her eyes. "Kyndle?" He asked uncertainly. Then
the knight cleared his throat with a muffled "Hmpf." The woman threw a
serious look at this, but then again turned to Roland. "Not exactly." She began to cool. "Kyleth it is true there rather. Let's say I was Kyndle." Roland
raised his eyebrows in surprise and looked at her bewildered. "I was Kyndle
called before I went
up to a guardian." She explained. Thoughtfully his eyes fell slowly to the ground. "Before
her rise to guardian?" He thought to himself. She put a hand on
his shoulder and secured his
attention. "Do not rack your
brain over now." She began, confident
and smiled warmly
at him. "Do
not worry. Everything will be cleared.
Your next step now is your medium." She lifted her left hand and showed her glove. He was made
of sturdy leather. On the back of the hand, a round orange-red gemstone was embedded in a bronze version. Small
metal plate covered the leather around the stone and lay over each other
like dragon scales."You can not tame your access without
a medium." She said, and looked at him gravely.
Roland breathed again
and called the image of charred trees back in memory, which
had left his tantrum
in the forest. She walked slowly back to the crack and nodded to the knight once. This
made a slightly stooped
gesture and walked silently through the gap. The woman stopped and turned
to Roland. "Take good
care of your partner." She said,
smiling and winked at him once what Roland
countered with a sheepish grin. "And see that Daniel kept
calm."He saw another bright
spark in her eyes before she pulled the hood back
over her head and looked to the tear in the space. Roland
watched her little perplexed. "Daniel?" He initially
thought to himself before he could think again. Confident
he watched her as she slowly disappeared into the gap. "Yes, I will," he muttered to himself. The crack shut and the lights began to dim
the flame. Again, standing alone in the void he heard a faint cooing,
which transferred his gentle vibrations on
his back and the warmth of
another body lying next to him.......
The sun rose quickly and put her awakening
appearance on the isolated floating clouds away. The bright light fell
through large glass windows and flooded the
room with a pleasant warmth.A small statue, with an arrow in the chest stood still in front of the
window sill. She threw a short shadow that
reached up to the symbol on the
carpet.Roland came slowly to himself. Oversleeping lying on his stomach he dozing and thought of
the dreamed discussion with
the other Kyndle. His draconic Kyndle
was close to his side
snuggled up to his right. Her head laid on his
back, he lifted and fell with
his slow breathing movements. With a soft cooing she
listened to his heartbeat and
nuzzled gently her shed to his skin. Wearily,
he opened his eyes and looked into the frozen face of a gargoyle. After
he yawned hugely, he turned to
the side and looked at two beautiful, awakening dragon eyes. A peaceful cooing accompanied the bright
sparks from her sapphires.
The thin turquoise touch in them shone
clearly out.On her quick tongue
coating his lips came
a gentle "chirp"."Morning." Replied Roland
on that with a warm smile and ran his hand over
her cheek. A soft purr came from her body
while she nestled again to him. After the morning cuddling Roland crawled out from under the blanket and sat down on the bed, yawning again. A leisurely stretch
your arms later, his eyes fell again to the
small figure on the window sill.
Thoughtfully, he looked into the stony face. "What
he has to do with ....."Kyndle nudged him with her nose lightly in
the shoulder and
got out her hope for attention. With
a smile on his face he turned to her. Barely thrown
the look in her sparkling eyes, he immediately felt her lips on his. The
dragoness leaned heavily
against him, until he was back on the mattress on his back. To feel the
intense purring in his head
threw his thoughts completely overboard. With
one hand he stroked her cheek
while the loving tongue touch stopped. The female lay
about him and broke the kiss. Roland held the dragoness
firmly over and looked into the sparkling sapphires of his partner. The turquoise
touch in them shone brightly out. A soft
"Chirp" escaped her throat before she
let her head fall again purring. He knew exactly what this view meant. But a loud knock
at the door proved to be a
veritable mood killer,
what Kyndle confirmed
with a condescending snort. The female rose
somewhat reluctantly off him and let him get up. Roland
lowered for a brief moment the
forehead with closed eyes before standing up. He turned to her and grabbed her under
her chin. Gently pulled her head in his field, he looked directly into her eyes. "To be continued." He whispered
to her and gave her a kiss on the nose. Kyndle
closed his eyes and let out a small
"Churr" by herself. The door opened, he looked into the face of Aaros, which once
looked at him and glanced into the room. "For
this is later time." He began
with a scarcely perceptible smile.
"Get dressed, you have a long day
ahead." With these words he
left Roland standing at the open door and left.Without a word, he turned to Kyndle and
jerked his thumb afterwards
Aaros. With a quizzical expression, he took a breath, but no words came out. Kyndle held her head to one side and snorted Roland
with her eyes closed. After a long minute of silence,
he finally began to dress. ......A large bald man was standing in front of a large mirror. Crossed his arms he threw his angry look in the
floating surface on which the
property of Ironwing was to be seen. "Hmph!" He cleared
his throat loudly. "We know where
he is. And now, we are just
watch." he said aloud
to himself. "Why do not we bring him to us now?
Why this miserable waiting?!"A dark violet
light overshadowed his eyes for a quick moment and he sank cramped to his knees. A painful groan escaped
his mouth, followed by a dry cough."This is not up to your judgment." came a sinister voice of his
back. A figure in a red robe walked bent
over to him.
Two violet lights shone out of his silver
mask. With a gesture, he let off the painful
grip of his
servant, who cumbersome, difficult breathing straightened up."That was not intended so, Lord Kargesh." he
said humbly. "Time
will tell." said the dark ruler.
Kargesh walked to
the mirror and wiped his bony
hand over the image. The area began to blur and
the image of Ironwing
disappeared."I have a task for you, Larzarus. To
shorten the waiting time something." The big man stood
up straight and threw his master an attentive look.In the surface of the mirror, a new image formed, while out of the shadows came a bone servant. In his
hands he held a large gem, nestled in a self-devouring
snake. In the deep
black color of the stone the
spongy outline of a lifeless heart could be
seen. Larzarus took a quick look
at the skeleton, then
back to the mirror. The image of a beautiful city came to light that
hovered in the air. "Haven?"
Larzarus asked softly. "That`s right." said Kargesh and turned to face him.
With one hand he pointed to the black stone. "Bring the vessel to Drover
in Haven." he ordered his subordinate and threw him against
a menacing glint in
his mask. "Further instructions will follow, when you arrive."Larzarus stood up
straight and pulled his right
fist up to the left shoulder.
"I will not fail!" he said loudly. Kargesh
turned around. "No." he
began panting. Larzarus coughed once strong
as the purple shimmer
soared again over
his eyes. "You will not." Kargesh continued....... Roland stood with Kyndle
on the training ground. The petrified
gargoyle viewing he
waited for his trainer, who also appeared
shortly thereafter. A wordless nod of the two
was the greeting."Does the name Ansem say something to you?" asked Aaros directly. Roland
drew his brows questioningly.
"Apparently not." said Torben
it sober. "Very
well. And the Guild of Three Towers?" asked
Aaros further. "Conrad has mentioned it
before, but what has
this to do with my magic training?" Roland
threw a. "In
short." began Aaros again. "Ansem is, I mean he was the arch-mage of the guild, and he is the one who can produce your medium and
hopefully will."Roland threw Kyndle
a questioning look. This kept her head slightly
inclined with closed eyes and
gave a gentle cooing of herself."But more of that later."
continued Aaros. "I was so free to write everything you need on
this list." He spoke, holding his pupils against
the said document. Roland grabbed curious
then, raising his eyebrows in surprise."That's a long list."
he said somewhat sarcastically as his gaze quickly gave up on the six written
lines. Kyndle lifted her head and
also looked at the
paper. She nudged her partner easily into
the side and gave a bright
"Meep" of herself.Aaros looked at him for a moment with a smile. "It should not be too difficult for you to get all of these things." He walked up to him and gave him a forefinger
to his face. "If you make it, to be with
all the things on this list
before sunset here." With a determined look, he looked
at him seriously. "We
will give you a little bonus." "Bonus?"
Inquired puzzled by
Roland. "That was Torben incident." he
replied, and looked at his colleague
who affirmatively held his thumb
extended upward."Ok." replied Roland on it and cast a thoughtful
look at the long list. He looked
at Kyndle confident and began to smile. "We
are already packing." He said aloud, and the paper described pocketed.
It was not long since Roland had saddled a
horse, his dragoness tied her labeled
cloth, took a
backpack, inserted some money and
was already fast
pace towards the capital go.
Kyndle floated with
elegant wing beats him. With an expectant expression
he rode towards the
city and thought of a person who
could possibly help him with some of the things. After about an hour he reached the
mighty city gates. Before the raised portcullis
he stopped to treat
his mount a deserved breather and the folded
piece of paper pulled out. Kyndle landed meanwhile
beside him and gave a welcoming treatment "Chirp"
of herself before she purred and rubbed her
head against his thigh. With his
free hand he stroked her cheek, but always
kept his gaze on the
document addressed. Thoughtfully, he read the words on it.- 1 vial of Dragon
Essence (liquid or powder)
- A handful of Obsidian
Shards
- A larger gemstone,
regardless of type, the purer the better (catalyst)
- Subject for the
form of the medium (you have free choice)
A bottle of Stronos Brandy
Very Important!
Two carrots and an
onionSlightly confused he cast his gaze to the side in
Kyndles eyes. "For
what are the two carrots and an onion?" He
thought aloud. The dragoness held her head slightly inclined and gave a questioning "Meep" of herself.Tucked the note again,
they entered the big city.......
In a tavern called
"Lonely torch" were two
women talking tense. The lady
behind the counter was wearing a red
dress with a long
skirt, which was cut into one side. Her
conversational partner put a rather adventurous appearance
on the day. A
custom-made leather armor concealed masterfully
her more petite stature.
And the massive war
hammer on her back anyway handed out completely
in order to intimidate some of the other
guests."What does he want in Haven?" asked the woman behind the counter. "No idea, Liz." said the fighter.
"I only know that there will be problems in
Athellion. Rumors of the walking dead, and so on." she
continued, waving a hand around
explanatory. "But why he is gone the way I can
not tell you."Lizbeth remained thoughtful
hand over her mouth and lowered her gaze on the counter. "Should I join him?" asked
the well-armed woman. Liz lifted her field of
vision. "No Patricia.
Your order will
remain.""Good." Patricia replied with a slow nod.
"I'll keep you up to date." she added before she
walked out of the tavern. Liz
did not return the beckoning gesture, but looked
thoughtfully at the wall. "Something
is wrong here." she murmured softly to herself.......
In the Iron Maiden
Tamara stood behind
the counter, holding a piece of paper in front of her face. Interrogative
she pulled an eyebrow and glanced to her guest."And if I get all things on the list before sunset, he's offering a bonus." Said the latter. Beside him an
orange-red female dragon stretching
her head on the
counter and nodded with a confirmatory
"Churr". Tamara could not resist her smile. Slowly she
let fall the document on the counter. Above begun
stroking her forefinger over the six short lines.
"The first sounds to me like
an alchemical ingredient."
she began. "Maybe this Barnabas knows more. The
second seems to be for blacksmithing. Ask as
the best armorer
in the castle. Gems? Hmm?" Thoughtfully she held her hand over her mouth. "The stones commonly
found on the market are, at best, of inferior quality. I'd try my luck therefore
also the royal blacksmith. But he has finally
made the king's jewelry,
so he should know best where you get such."Roland looked at her with a raised eyebrow. "And all this just occurred to you?"
He teased with
a grin. Kyndle held
her head to one side and gave him a skeptical look easy. The landlady put
her hands on her hips and countered
with her serious eyes. "As the owner of a pub I can hear a lot."
she began with a slightly furtive
smile. "And I
can listen very well." she continued stressing."So!" she explained. "In the fourth point, it's up to
you. A bottle of brandy I had even here, but
that's not for
nothing. And carrots with onions
you'll find plenty on the market.""What do you want for the bottle?" Roland asked directly. "15
gold coins." She replied soberly. Roland's view
widened in surprise. "15?!" he admitted aloud by and looked at the
bottle behind Tamara. "What's in there, what
justifies that price? Has there pissed the king in it or what?" he threw Kyndle a slightly confused look, this closed once
cooing her eyes and looked again to Tamara. The landlady shrugged both shoulders. "Buy it or not. As you
wish." Roland shook his head once. Reluctantly, he took
out his wallet and took a look at its contents. "That's more than I have with me." He said with a distorted face.
"And I think what I will need for the
other things on the list." he
said.Tamara crossed her arms and looked at Roland
with a dubious smile.
"How about that? 5 coins and a
favor." the young man glanced at his dragoness who
nodded to him confident and turned then again
to the landlady. "Deal."
he spoke loudly and
held out his hand over the
counter. Tamara shook his hand with a big smile and took five gold coins
from him. "And what kind of favor you mean?" Roland asked curiously. Tamara put the bottle down in front of him. "I'll come back
to that later." she replied with a
quick wink. "See,
that you first get
your list complete."Roland stared thoughtfully
for a moment on the bottle of
Stronos Brandy. With a confident smile he put
his first article in the backpack. Cast
his eyes to his dragoness
he held up the list.
"Well, what's next?" Kyndle sent him a
bright twinkle out of her sapphire-blue dragon
eyes. The shimmering turquoise touch shone
forth therein. A
soft cooing accompanied the
look in her half closed eyes. Smiling,
he looked back to the list.
Slowly, his attention was flying over the first row when he heard an affirmative "Meep" at his side. Warm he looked to his female dragon. "So then to Barnabas?"
he asked with a faint smile. A soft cooing
came from her throat as his eyes met. "Or
rather to Clara?" he added. Kyndle gave
a nod an
affirmative "Churr" by herself.
"Well then." Roland said,
and got up from his stool. He ran his
hand over the dragoness
forehead, which she replied with a faint purring and closed view. "Up
to the dragon farm."
He said aloud.Roland turned to Tamara
and raised his arm. "See
you." he said, waving. The landlady held
up her hand as well. "Come
back tomorrow for the favor." She
said, smiling. "And good luck with the list," she added. "Thank you!" Cried Roland, before he stepped out of the tavern.......
"That's a good boy." she said calmly looking
up and smiling down at the
little dragon. Clara knelt in a smaller enclosure
near the main house between six pups.
The young dragons to the genus of blade wings
ran playfully around. One lay before Clara
on his back and let her stroke his belly. Checking she looked at the stitched wound
on his chest and the two straps which fixed
his wings. Send genius
he kept his eyes closed, purring softly to himself. A
happy "Meep" he added.Clara pulled out her pen and quickly wrote
down a few lines on her notepad.
She smiled as she watched the young, as it quickly got up and hurriedly
ran to his fellows. With a short jump and
a playful "Chirp" he landed on the small pile
of dragons. Clara stood up and examined with obliquely down the head
and a big grin on her face
the happy goings
of cute young dragons.
Then she threw a controlling look at their list. "That's
it here." she thought to herself and walked slowly to the gate of the enclosure. The little dragon watched impatiently and ran at
the moment, just as she teased
the gate. Clara
could not react fast enough. She had hardly noticed the small maverick, he was
already out and jumped joyfully on the forecourt of the farm around.Clara closed the enclosure
behind her and turned around frantically.
"Damn it!" she thought aloud
to herself, while her eyes slightly overwhelmed walked around on the big square. The
five remaining pups rejected all their
heads to the grid and gave
playful sounds. Clara
put her free hand on her hip and threw the
dragons a slightly annoyed
look. "That's not funny!"
she hissed quickly, and then the little dragons ceased immediately and stretching teasing the tongue tips
from the mouth. With eyes closed, she took a deep breath. Opened her eyes again, she spotted
a short tail, which quickly disappeared behind some crates. The box in the
look she walked toward it, but no outliers hidden
behind it. Thoughtfully, she walked back to the
square. "Where is he now
....?" Her theoretical question trailed off as she saw the little one run. He was there on the road
on the way, which led to the city. "Oh
no!" she said loudly and began to run
after the young dragon.......
The sun was high noon and shone from a cloudless
blue sky. On the
road, which led to Barnabas farm, a young man and an orange-red female dragon were out.Lost in thought, lay his eyes on a small piece of paper with some lines were recorded. Thoughtfully,
he threw his attention to the sun high in the sky. "Hopefully we do not lose too much time here." he spoke a little tired.
Kyndle walked softly
cooing beside him and poked her nose
briefly in his left shoulder,
followed by a confident "Churr".
Roland looked at her
while smiling at her
beautiful blue eyes. The thin
turquoise tinge in
them was not to be overlooked.
An entertaining sparkle ended the pleasant sight.
"We'll see." he added that and turned his attention back to the front, where already the buildings of the farm were seen.Roland recognized the long bridge that led
across a vast brown enclosure. In the middle of the transition, something moved hastily
towards him. Roland stopped and stared hard forward. The orange-red dragon lady looked at
him a little puzzled at first, then turned her
gaze also forward.A little dragon ran happily toward her. The
wings were fixed with two leather straps on the back, which is why he was in a hurry traveling on foot. He gave a cheerful "Meep" of himself as he covered on Kyndle. The female
lowered cooing her head to the little one to
greet, but he just jumped past her. By running
between her legs he jumped at Roland.Roland hectic let
go of his list to
catch the little dragon. The
little one gasped for this
paper. Roland managed
though to hold him, but the powerful
jump pulled him to the ground. Unceremoniously landed on his butt he
screwed up his face and threw his female dragon a
slightly confused look. Kyndle
lay down beside him on the floor and licked him cooing softly
on the cheek. Then
she looked at the little young dragon and sniffed
curiously at him. He clung tightly to
Roland's chest, purring softly. Roland tried
to get his list back from the mouth of the dragon, but he could not get her out of his jaw without
breaking it. That's why he
left it to him for
the moment. With a warm smile on his lips, he looked down at the purring
dragon. A stitched
wound was to discover. Use light pressure he let his fingers stroking his
chest scales. The gentle vibrations of his little body felt to the touch,
as well as the vibrations of his partner, who had
placed herself behind him and leaned her head
against his. Her physical heat sensing his gaze
from the young animal high in her sparkling sapphire
blue dragon eyes. The turquoise touch in them
shined forth.Kyndle put one of
her wings around Roland and
the little dragon, gently rubbed her nose
at his and she purred
softly. Through her half-closed eyelids he
saw his reflection in her pupils. He ran with his
free hand over her
cheek. The female deepened her
purring and leaned against his hand. Slightly tilted her head to one side, both savings in love on each other's
lips. The intense buzz of her purring
to feel in the head was just fantastic. Ended the loving kiss, so they both looked at each other for a long time before they closed their eyes and forehead successive
submitted."That's what I call a romantic
picture." Clara said,
smiling as she saw
Roland and Kyndle with the little dragon. Roland stood up frantically,
as if he had just woken up from a daydream. Kyndle snorted
a little puzzled in his direction
as he pulled away from her loving embrace.Roland looked at
Clara a little embarrassed and smiled slightly to
himself. "I ... so ..."
he stammered awkwardly. Clara held her hands
behind her back and smiled
at Roland with
her head cocked to the side. Slowly, she walked up to him. "Thanks for trapping." she said calmly as she
took the little purring dragon from the arm of
him.Roland looked quickly
to Kyndle which slowly
stood up and turned also to
Clara. She stroked the little one on the
chest and nudged quickly
once in his
abdominal region. With a playful "Meep" he opened his mouth shortly.
Long enough so she could pull him the note from
the mouth. "That is maybe yours?" she said, grinning and holding out the document. Roland grabbed
it something lost in thought and then folded it
before he let it
disappear into his coat pocket. Meanwhile, Clara walked
past him and held Kyndle against an open hand to
greet. With a happy cooing she snorted to
Clara and leaned then with
eyes closed against her hand. She ran her fingers under the chin of the female
dragon and looked into her moist
eyes. "You have told him already?"
she asked quietly, but loud enough
so that Roland could hear it. By her question her gaze slowly
stepped towards him. Kyndle
closed at her words the eyes and began
to purr softly.Roland took a deep breath. "You know ...." "Yes, I know it." interrupted
Clara with a warm smile. "I knew it before you."
she added, stroking Kyndle on the nose."So what can I do for you, unless remove the small maverick here?" she asked him, and began to go ahead. Roland
once shook his head with closed eyes and exhaled left. When he was
nudged by Kyndle
his eyes fell again into her glance. Placed his hand on her cheek, she
briefly closed her eyes and cooed softly. "Shall we?" he asked softly. With
a quick "Churr" she
answered his question and walked
behind Clara, always
gazing at the little
dragon. Roland smiled to himself and followed them without further ado lose.......
In Sorlacom knelt
a man in a gray robe before five stone
pedestals. The stone images of Arkas, Kyleth,
Gal`Vatros, Sorathis and Wyverex had on them one place. Only
the statue of Kyleth had collapsed. The fragments were unaffected by
the base, the
head was still on it and threw an empty gaze
to the praying priest. A bright blue shimmering
symbol was hovering in front of four of
the five stone dragons, which slowly weightless
revolved around its own axis.Wyverex had no
symbol, which left the priest
after and after restless. "Master Atlas?" Came a voice in the
room. The Praying priest slowly raised his brow.
"Yes?" he asked with a closed view. With
a weak rush the
man approached him. "It's
about the recent events in Haven."Atlas exhaled left
and bowed to the five
draconic images, before
he straightened up and his face turned to the messenger. "The last reports were not in great detail." he began softly. "But it makes
everything suggests that ....."
He broke off as Atlas
frantically raised his hand and turned to the five
stone dragons."Master Atlas?" asked the
messenger a little confused. "Shhh!"
hissed Atlas quickly
and listened attentively to the
room. Ears pricked he strode past the floating icons until he arrived
at the statue of Wyverex.
A faint crackling was heard from the stone
dragon. The hollow
eyes began to shine in a weak
blue red glow, while
thin wisps of smoke rose from the nostrils. It
looked as if the dragon growl at him.Atlas raised the eyebrows
in surprise. Shortly thereafter, he lowered his eyes and fell before the socket on the
knee. The lowered
front for prayer he
murmured words to
himself. The smoke began before the head
of the stone dragon to rotate and increasingly compressed.
At the same awoke in it a bright blue
glow. The shimmer of the blue red eyes
shone brighter. A
loud bang sent a shock wave
through the hall and put out
all the candles in
the room. Atlas was the hood torn from his
head and tossed. With startled eyes upwards he looked at the now pending before
Wyverex icon. "My
Lord. Is everything all right?"
the man asked as he came to help Atlas. "I'm
fine." he spoke a little out of breath as he
propped himself on
his helper. "Call immediately the councilors together." he added determinative. The priest
said not another word. He nodded silently and
walked with rapid steps to the exit. Atlas was bent in
the hall and looked to the five
statues. "Rise they will....." he said softly to himself.......
"And now you're here and ask me about dragon
essence?" asked Clara with a big grin on her
face. Roland sat opposite her in the
study of Barnabas, his list of errands lying
on the table.A peaceful cooing was in the air. Roland threw
a warm look to Kyndle, which lay on
the carpet in the middle of the
room. A small young dragon between her forelegs.
This clung tightly
to her chest, purring softly. The eyes half closed she nudged the young dragon
gently what could elicit him a cute
"Meep". With a happy cooing she avoided
her moist look into Roland's eyes, accompanied by a bright turquoise sparks and a happy "Chirp"."You're actually a pretty pair." Clara said softly. "What?" Roland threw a little confused and looked back to Clara. These smiled at him confidently. "You heard me." she added softly and
looked at his embarrassed grin."Again, the reason
for my being here." Roland
began again. "Ok."
Clara replied calmly.
"Dragon essence, yes?" "Actually, I was hoping to be able to discuss this with Barnabas." he continued. "Currently he is on his way to Athellion." Said Clara. "What's he doing there?" he prompted curious. "I can not tell you. Everything I've noticed was, that he was in a
hurry to come to Haven." Thoughtfully,
she looked at the table. "His companion was initially against it." Roland drew his
eyebrows in surprise. "What companion?"
he thought to himself, but continued to listen. "But they made a deal, after which he went with him." said Clara.Barnabas assistant quickly shrugged his
shoulders and threw her eyes
up to the ceiling. "Well is not that important." she began with a slight smile. "So, you need dragon essence?" she asked again. Roland nodded and
looked at her with big eyes. Clara
leaned her face slightly
to the side and looked him in the
eyes. "You have no idea what that is, right?"Roland smiled a
little embarrassed. "Something like
that." he added. Clara was breathing with
eyes closed once from behind. "Ok." she began. "Dragon essence is available in liquid form or as a powder. It is used mostly for strengthening
the willpower. "She explained.
"How that?" He asked. "Normally it is consumed as a
drink. It gives the willpower
of the drinking person a boost and will reduce the debilitating opposite process when
applying magic, but too much of
it achieved the opposite purpose." With a straight face she looked at Roland. "It blocks
the access for some time." Thoughtful Roland listened to her words. "And how much is too much?" he asked. Clara smiled
at him and stood up from her
chair. She went to a cupboard
on the wall and pulled open one of the doors. Checking,
her hand wandered from one label to another until she had found the
desired vial. She reached out and closed the closet door. Taken
place in her chair she put the transparent container on the table.Roland looked puzzled
the small bottle. It was filled with a dark blue cloudy liquid. "This is the usual amount." Clara began
with a more serious expression.
"Anything above that would have a negative effect. It is therefore
planned in many magicians
as emergency rations, provided they have the wherewithal." Roland made big
eyes when he heard the words "wherewithal".
"Of course." he thought sarcastically, rolling his eyes slightly. His attention was drawn again by Kyndle. Playful
sounds drew his
gaze back. The orange-red female lay peacefully
cooing on the carpet, while the little dragon walked with slightly clumsy steps around her
and climbed her back. His happy "Chirp" accompanied his movements. Kyndle turned her gaze
to the little one and snorted slightly in
his face. With a cute "Meep" he placed
his front legs on her head.
He threw his innocent look in her sparkling eyes. She felt the gentle hum of his quiet
purr in the head
and closed her eyes cooing
in half. She slowly raised her face, whereupon held the young dragon more. Kyndle
placed him between
her front legs and tried to shake him off easily, but he clung successfully. She
stuck her tongue out and left
her with a gentle cooing over his stomach deleted. With a cute "Meep"
he let go unexpectedly
and landed between her paws on the back. Kyndle
held her head slightly tilted to one side and saw at the little one with her sparkling
eyes. Playful he moved on her front legs and
stuck his tongue teasingly
out of the mouth. Cooing nudged him with his
nose in the abdomen and snorted
at him again.Roland looked at the
smiling cute happening
and saw his female dragon with a warm look.
Kyndle noticed the observer and returned
the visual contact with the
bright sparkle of her sapphire eyes.
He clearly felt her
soul contact. He
would have liked gotten up to
shake her a long kiss on the lips. However, Clara's
presence stopped him.Looking down thoughtfully at the ground, suddenly appeared
a young dragon in
his field of vision. With head tilted to the side, he looked up at the man. Roland
saw the little one's eyes and held out his hand to him. Gently brushed his
fingers across his cheek, which he
answered with a faint purr.
A merry "Chirp" came
from his throat as he playfully turned on his back. It Roland noticed again the
wound stitched on
the chest of the little dragon."What happened to him?"
he asked Clara with a puzzled expression. Kyndle
had placed beside
the little dragon and snuggled
her head gently to
Roland. By his
question to Clara, she also turned to her. Barnabas
assistant looked a
little perplexed at first, but
found her mind quickly. "A few days ago, a patrol of soldiers
has taken on the
King Street a gang of smugglers." she began softly.
"The smugglers were caught near the border
to Sullfar. In addition to some
stolen goods, they also have a cage
secured." Her eyes gave way a little sad on the table. "In the cage, three
injured nestlings were penned." Roland
watched tense. He
was sure to see a
tear in her eyes, but he said
nothing.Clara took a deep breath. A barely perceptible sobs
could be heard. "He here is one of them." With a slightly trembling hand
she pointed to the little dragon, who purring leaned
on Kyndles edge.
"And the other two?" Roland asked cautiously. Clara lowered with a
weak exhale her face and wiped a tear from her
eyes. "Anyway, he has made
it." she replied evasively
and smiled at the nestling. In Roland came
straight back up the memory,
as Kyndle was
kidnapped. "What wanted these
smugglers do with the little dragons?"
he asked curiously and tried to repress the painful image of
the bound and
wounded Kyndle. He
clutched at his left shoulder, which just aired
a slight pain impulse. His female dragon gave
him a warm look. She clearly felt his downcast
emotions and licked him comfortingly on
the cheek. He put his hand on her cheek
and pressed her head to his more.Clara waited a
moment and looked at them in silence. "Probably because of their scales." she began with a
straight face. "Dragon scales, especially
those of young animals have a high value
on the black market. The constitution of
the dragons is these criminals but most do not care." she threw her look a bit lost in the room.
"Actually, I do not even want
to know what they do with the little ones." said Clara and exhaled left.Roland took a deep breath of air and swallow this sad
picture down. Barnabas assistant closed her eyes
again to organize
her thoughts. A
moment later, her friendly smile
was visible again. "I tell you what." she began,
smiling. Roland raised his eyebrows expectantly. "You can have the
bottle of dragon essence."
she said, pointing to the cloudy blue liquid on the table. "So easily?" Roland hooked for something suspicious.
Clara stood up from
her chair and walked around the table. "Let's call it a thank you for capturing this small
outlier here." she replied, smiling as she picked up the nestling from
the ground and gently stroked
his belly.Roland saw his
dragoness quickly into her eyes
and rested his forehead on hers.
"Two points done, four remain." he
whispered softly. "And by the way, thank you for earlier." he said and
put his lips to hers lovingly. Kyndle added to
the sensual touch her gentle purr. Clara looked at them smiling. She still had the little
dragon in the arm. "See?"
she whispered teasingly
to the young animal, pointing to Roland
and Kyndle. "Love
is a wonderful thing." she spoke
softly on, picked it up and rubbed her
nose against his snout.
A soft cooing he
added her gesture. Shortly after
she left with the nestling the room quietly.......
In Ironwing, Catherine
sat thoughtfully in
her study. Tired she gave her views on the
reports of the vigil. Suddenly, unexpectedly opened
the door and Daniel came excitedly into the room. In his hand he held a sealed
letter. Catherine stood from her seat
and took a breath for her question, but
got by Daniel not the chance to ask
them."A letter with your name on it has arrived." he started a little nervous. His mistress looked at him reassuringly. "But that is no reason for such excitement."
she said smiling and
walked around the table on her
messenger to. Daniel waved his head slowly in
the negative. "He was
delivered by a dragon rider."
he said with wide
eyes. "A dragon rider
from Sorlacom." he added seriously. Catherine's
look went suddenly
to the ground. Thoughtfully, she looked out the window and walked slowly approached the glass. "Put the
letter on the table." she spoke
monotone and serious.Daniel swallowed once empty and looked a
little perplexed at his mistress,
but did as he was
told and placed the envelope on
the table top. "Thanks
Daniel. You can go now." she also wishes to add. He made his torso bent
forward a gesture and left the room without
a word. He closed the door
behind him. Catherine stood at the window and
let her eyes slide over the estate. Shortly thereafter, she breathed out and lowered her forehead thoughtfully.Daniel looked thoughtful for a while to the
door. But then turned around and startled
easily. With a
hectic breathe he saw Tim, who looked at him with
his blank stare. "What
was standing in the letter?" he
asked. Daniel shook his head. "I do not
know." He said irritably.
"I do not really want to know, I think so." he added seriously. Timmy
tapped him on the shoulder once. "Again because
of your stress level."
Daniel looked at him confused and angry at
the same time. Afterwards he went
past him, shaking his head. "By
the five, he can not be serious to ask m......." He muttered to himself.......
The sun eagerly put
their way across the sky.Hand before the face
Roland looked up
at her. "When we are continue with this pace, we don`t get finished
tomorrow yet." he groused to himself.
Kyndle nudged him
lightly in the stomach and brought his attention back to the ground. A cramped
twitching later he held his list before his
face. Thoughtfully, he put his
brow up. "Hmm. I think we now go to the blacksmith."
he spoke confidently to his
female dragon, which looked at him with half-closed eyes. "Hopefully we can emphasize two points from this
list." Kyndle do with a
strong snort a
nodding head motion,
followed by a quick "Churr". He
smiled as he looked at his dragon
lady and rubbed his hand over
her forehead before he folded the list and
let disappear it into his coat
pocket....... With an effort he lifted the handle of the bellows and
pulled him back down. A low hissing sound accompanied the strong burst of air into
the burning coal stove. The heat
came in a big wave
from the embers. Beads of sweat
glistening on his forehead as he pulled the red hot steel from the fire. The unfinished
weapon placed on
the anvil, he lashed out with his
sledge-hammer. A bright jangle accompanied the sparks
as the tool came down to the soft steel. Blow for blow, he edited the material.Testing, he looked at his work. He put the hammer aside
and wiped the sweat from his brow. In one
swift movement he plunged the hot
steel in a filled
water basin. Steaming hissed the metal in the cold water bath. Pulled the still dull blade
he swung it once
to himself. His controlling
gaze over the
straight edge as he ran past
the work piece before his face. With a skillful
movement he pushed it towards the entrance."Oops!" Roland said, startled and
raised both hands as the blacksmith held the top of the unfinished weapon in
the face. "What do you want?"
he asked with his deep rough voice. Demanding he
looked at the young man with his yellow eyes.
The striking color of his pupil stabbed literally
under his bushy eyebrows.Roland swallowed once empty and lowered his hands
again. "I am
looking for someone who is familiar with Obsidian Shards." he replied. The blacksmith raised an
eyebrow in surprise. "Wait
outside, I'm right there." he said calmly and
turned around. Roland nodded once without a word and turned around. Somewhat uncertain,
he went back outside and waited for the owner of the smithy. Kyndle sniffed curiously
at the weapons and shields, which were
lined up on the narrow stall. "Ah!" Roland
was loud on its
own before she almost pushed one of the shields
of the table. The
female twitched briefly and looked at her partner
playful. Teasingly she stretched her tongue
out of the mouth and cooed softly. The blacksmith came with heavy steps of the
workshop and gave Roland a small leather pouch to.
He caught the little
bag and poured them into his hand. It felt, as
are small sharp
stones in it. Opened the bag he looked at the
contents. Numerous rock chips
were in it. They had
a matte black color. When shaking the bag they
sounded like broken glass."3 gold coins." said
the blacksmith sober. Roland raised his eyebrows
and looked in amazement the craftsman in his
striking yellow eyes. "Um, ok." he said,
slightly confused and pulled out
his wallet. Kyndle sniffed meanwhile excited to a plate armor,
which was placed
on a wooden figure. The nose tipped short to
the armor and it began to tip over. The
female was startled with a
surprised "Meep" before the noisy clatter flew
across the street.Roland was just about to put three gold coins
in the hand of the blacksmith. As the attention of both
went to the fallen
armor and a sheepish-looking
dragon female. Roland
stooped with his face slightly to the side and waved it back and forth in the negative. The Smith also said nothing. He
pulled together only his eyebrows and took a deep breath."Pretty shed." gave the craftsman surprised
of himself. Kyndle cooed softly and looked
at the man with questioning
eyes. Roland sighed with relief
and turned back to the blacksmith. "You maybe know something
about gems?" he asked
hopefully. "The blacksmith swung
his face slowly towards
him and looked at him seriously.
"No." he said dryly and disappeared
back into his workshop. Shortly
thereafter was again the clink
of steel heard.Roland remained silently
at the forge stand and cast a blank look on
Kyndle. "Ok." he gave of himself and tucked
the bag with Obsidian Shards in his backpack. "Then
go to the market, hopefully we will find a stone that is
large enough and is in my price range." Kyndle hopped over the armor
lying on the ground and nudged her partner softly cooing
to his nose. He smiled at her and slowly drove his
hand over her cheek. Her gentle
purr joined the
bright flash of her deep blue
eyes. The turquoise touch in them was not to
be overlooked. "Let's go." he whispered to her and broke away from the pleasant sight.......
"GO, GO, HURRY!" shouted a man breathing
heavily to his colleagues and
waved him frantically in his direction before he ran on. "Yeah!" Bleated the second
angry. "It's not like I would not see the guys over there!" he swore further and
remained exhausted his hand to
his side. Behind the two of them followed by four guards with hasty steps,
and had to catch
it.The two men left the
narrow side street and turned onto the market. On the busy square, there was the usual hustle and bustle of countless traders and buyers.
The many stalls formed with the human groups a winding maze. Submerged
in the crowd they hid under a covered table.
The guards stopped in front of the fountain in the center and flew their gaze over the examining course. After
quick wordless gestures
they spread and
began systematically search the market for the thieves.Completely out of breath panted the two men in
the hiding place and looked at
each other and grinned. "Damn It! I told you, only the box on the
table!" he groused to his
colleague and struck his fist
in the shoulder. "But no! The Lord still had
to pounce on the stupid wall decoration. What threw our entire schedule to pieces!" he
said angrily. "Oh man calm a bit
down Harrison." he tried to
appease him. "We
are still arrived in time away." he argued
and reached into the
pocket. "Just in time!? If you had kept
up with the plan, then we would not have
been discovered by this shitty guards!" Harrison accused. His colleague drew an oval-cut gemstone from his pocket and
looked at him as if by magic on. "What do you think
is the value?" he asked. Harrison looked
at the stolen property. The stone
had an orange-red color and shone spotless.
No score or other
damage was visible. "I do
not know." he replied. "But it could still prove difficult to
sell this one." he said something unexpectant and cast a quick glance
at the cover
out.He pulled his head back under the table and saw his colleagues at seriously.
"You wait 10 seconds, then you follow me to the left." he said, holding out a determinative
index finger on his head, then he rolled out from
under the table and disappeared
behind some baskets on the left side of the table. He had just disappeared, as a guard went over at the Table and let go searching
around his eyes. After
a few seconds the uniformed
went on.Harrisons colleague rolled out under
the table and make the first steps on the baskets to where his colleague
was sitting in coverage and waved him frantically to
him. He wanted to put the gem back in his pocket, but he fell to the ground and rolled on the floor between the people. "Oh, shit shit
shit!" he muttered
to himself, and followed the bent rolling stone.
Harrison saw them
afterwards dumbfounded and
grabbed shaking his head at the end. "Not again!" he sighed annoyed and ran
after him."Come here, you little piece." he said as he held the stone in his hand again. With a satisfied grin on his face, he
stood up smiling at the man in front of him. Surprised, he looked at his uniform. The silver breastplate glistened
in the light of the afternoon
sun. A blue cloak fell down from the shoulders. Through the open visor of
the helmet two angry eyes stared at him. "Um. Oh!" he stammered to himself, as
he has also been seized by the guard.Effortlessly lifted him the guard of the feet.
"Not in my shift." he told him. "Attention
left!" came a
voice from the side. The guard
turned to the source and shortly thereafter was thrown to the ground. Harrison jumped out of a box
forth to him and joined
the soldiers with
both feet in the breastplate. Harrison stood
back and looked quickly overturned the guard
before he put his
colleagues on the feet. "Move!"
he roared in his ears and ran. His colleague was
followed immediately when he saw
the other guards in the crowd. The soldiers helped their
colleagues up and immediately took up the
chase....... On the main road to the marketplace
a young man and an orange-red dragon females were
out. "Two carrots and
an onion." he began to his dragoness and put
the hand on her back as she continued approaching the marketplace. Kyndle cooing
closed the eyes and
gave an affirmative "Churr"
by herself.Smiling Roland threw
his gaze forward, which has already seen the
vibrant market. Suddenly,
a man turned quickly round the corner and ran towards him. After that moment he
saw Harrison, who seemed
to be in a hurry. Welcoming raised Roland his hand and took a breath
for a hello. "No time!"
panted Harrison as he quickly waving to
him walked by.Roland and Kyndle stopped and looked after
him a little confused. A wordless shrug later
the two went back to the market street."Bang!" Made it as Roland collided with
a strange man. The force of the
collision threw Roland
unceremoniously to the ground, while the stranger stared surprised at the now lying man. Kyndle saw her
partner thrown to the ground and snapped the
stranger with her head bowed
down and bent her wings on. The unknown was
startled when he saw the razor-sharp
teeth of the female dragon. Panicked, he took his
legs in the hand and reconditioned Harrison before they both disappeared into another side
street.Roland sat up with
a twisted face and rubbed the back of his head sitting.
"Ouch." he gave a weak smile from him.
Kyndle placed herself next to him and put protective
one of her dark wings around him.
Cooing she snuggled her head closer to his
and licked him comfortingly
on the cheek. Her
gentle touch brought his aching mind instantly
silenced. With his arm around the dragoness both observed as a group
of soldiers took the same path as
Harrison and this other guy."Thrown the look
in her sparkling eyes, both rubbing
their nose at each other. The turquoise touch
in them shone out brightly. "Where were we?" he whispered to her. Kyndle
cooed softly and
replied with a
soft "Chirp". He smiled
warmly at her and ran his hand over her cheek. She
closed her eyes and leaned slightly
against his touch. "Right. Two carrots and an onion." He added. Kyndle poked her tongue
tip over his chin
and pulled her loving
hug.Roland stood up and was about to take the first step when he saw something shiny on the ground. Surprised, he grabbed it and lifted
wondering an oval gemstone on. Holding between
forefinger and thumb he turned it in the sunlight. "If that is not even a strange coincidence?" he thought.Kyndle looked at the orange-glowing stone enchanted
and waved excitedly
her tail back and
forth. Roland glanced at the dragoness and
winked at her once. "Almost as beautiful as you."
he added his amorous
glance. The female cooing closed her eyes
and snuggled her head closely approached Roland's
chest. Shortly thereafter, she lifted her eyes and sent a bright sparkle from
the turquoise color of her
deep blue eyes to him. Placed his lips over
hers in love, they shared a
sensual tongue touch.
With the gentle vibrations
of her soft purr
he clearly felt her
spiritual connection. Ended the moist touch he gave her a confident
and tucked the
stone to the other things in the backpack. "Just two more things on the list." he began softly.
"And then we go back home." he said with a smile. Kyndle
cooing closed her
eyes and began hastily to go
ahead. Roland watched
and went after her.The nose stretched sniffing in the air, the dragoness
walked searching around. With a confirmatory
"Meep" she disappeared into
the market chaos. Roland went to great lengths not to lose his dragoness in the crowd out of sight. Before a stand, the female stopped fortunately. Caught
up to his draconic partner
he glanced at the
designed products on the table.
Cabbages, potatoes, tomatoes and onions
were in large quantities on the counter. Carrot bunch
hung down from the beam of the narrow roof.Roland plucked two
single carrots from
one of the bundle and threw
Kyndle a weak
smile. "Well, have you found
an onion?" he asked her. The female sniffed curiously
at the large selection. With
a hectic breathe, she moved slightly jerking her
head back and closed the eyes. Her
cute sneezing sparked a small flame that
swept over the
onions. The greengrocer was
cowering behind his stand just in time. With a smoking cap,
he carefully stretched his head back up and
found his onions as smoking ash heap
before. Roland could
not resist his smile as Kyndle shook her head and looked at him with her innocent eyes.
Only an onion had
survived the flames unscathed.
"That one." he said with a grin to the
seller and pointed to the not charred
onion."And the others!?" asked the dealer easily angry and crossed arms. "Well,
yeah." Roland spoke and lifted his hands apologetically.
"How much?" he asked. The seller cast
his glance quickly over the damaged goods
and a quick calculation together. "40 pieces
of silver." he said dryly. "Good."
Roland gave out and
paid the amount readily grin. The vegetables stored in the backpack he strolled with Kyndle through the stalls. "What a medium, I should
merely choose?" he asked himself mentally and let his gaze looking
over the many objects move. Kyndle poked her
head through the wide
display and sniffed at the many different items. Necklaces, rings, headgear and all kinds
of other garments. "Not in lifetime a staff." He thought sarcastically. With an awakened "Chirp"
the dragoness snapped
with the mouth for an object
and held it out to Roland."What have you got there?"
he asked curiously, holding his hand under her open mouth.
With her soft cooing
she let fall a
left glove out of the mouth. He was made of sturdy leather,
pointed out some signs of wear,
and had severed fingertips. "You sure?" he asked the dragon lady. Just at
that moment the dreamed image came back
to him, in which showed Kyndle him her medium.
"You have seen the dream as well?" he
asked, though he was sure that it was so. The dragoness
cooing closed the
eyes and made a slow nodding
head movement. "I thought so." he spoke
softly and smiled warmly at his partner. "This here." Roland said to the seller, holding out the glove, but always
directed his gaze in Kyndles sparkling eyes.Leaving the marketplace Roland looked up at the
sun. "We can do this in
time." he said confidently
to his dragoness and
straightened the backpack.Once back at the stables at the city gate, Roland
threw one last look in the backpack. When
he was convinced of the existence
of all listed items he slung it over his
shoulder and went up into the
saddle of his horse. "Let`s go." he said to Kyndle who happily flapped
her wings and sent a loud "Chirp"
to him. With a fast gallop Roland left the
capital, looking ahead with confidence.
Kyndle ran to him
with abrupt steps
behind before she
spread her wings and rose gracefully into the air.......
In Ironwing, Aaros
and Torben stood on
the training ground next to the
barracks and took a thoughtful look towards the setting sun, which threw her
reddish glow on the
horizon. "He did not have
much time yet." said Aaros confident.
"Do not be so biased my friend." spoke Torben. "The sun is shining still." he argued.Aaros sat down on the ground and closed his
eyes quietly breathing. "What did you have actually for a bonus
for him? Provided he will made it in
time." he wanted to know. Torben
turned to face him. "You'll find out soon enough." he said determining.
"As you say." added Aaros
and devoted himself to his meditation."By the way, have you heard about the dragon rider?" asked
Torben his colleagues. "This creature was not to be missed." replied Aaros and called the
unmistakable sound of mighty dragon wings in
memory. "This has probably brought
a message or something?" Torben thought aloud to
himself. "Catherine, however, has been completely out of
the socket. She has not left her
office since its emergence." he added thoughtfully. "We currently have other priorities, so one by one."
replied Aaros.Torben lowered his
forehead with closed eyes and
exhaled left. "You
are right." He said and went back
to the barracks. The sun was still with his last strength on the horizon as Roland hastily
turned onto his horse in the driveway of Ironwing.
Above him floated an orange-red female dragon with elegant wing beats of
time. Before the closed door
his mount vigorously pushed the legs into
the ground and lay down on the
brakes, which nearly dropped him. Kyndle
quietly flew over
the crossbar and sent Roland
a happy "Chirp" down. "Did it
really so hurry
Roland!" greeted him one of the guards. Roland leaped from the saddle and
walked closer to the gate.
"That you can say loud."
he replied, looking at the man hopefully. "Come
on, I'll open it for you." Said the guard grinned
and pulled the squeaky door slowly. "Thank
you!" cried Roland and sprinted
between the open passage and held on to the barracks. The two guards saw the young man behind before her
attention was drawn back to the road. Snorting shook
the parked horse his head and stamped a hoof on the
ground. "I do not bring
it to the barn." said one and walked back to his post on the road. The remaining guard
let out a long breath and looked a bit annoyed to the horse.Aaros was still sitting in his meditation deepened on the lawn next to the training ground. He slowly opened his eyes when he heard the beating of dragon wings. Supple floated an
orange-red dragoness down on
the grass and sat
elegantly on the landing. Some final steps slowed
her pace last and
she raised with outstretched chest proud head.
The view thrown to Roland which at the moment behind
the hedge was conjured forth a bright twinkle
in her blue eyes and she was happy cooing
to him.He brushed her nose in passing through and held on to
Aaros. He put the backpack on the floor in
front of him and showed provocative
horizon. "Before
Sunset!" he spoke loudly and looked
at his teacher confident. Aaros chuckled closed
views to himself, before he got up and
grabbed the backpack. With
the pocket, he went to the table with the training weapons and threw a controlling view
of its contents."I know it that you will make it!" cried Torben praise
to Roland as he stepped out of the barracks. Strong he struck him with his
fist in the shoulder and patted him
on the back. "Aaros?" he
threw at his colleagues meet demanding. This
reached into his backpack and pulled out the bottle of stronos brandy out. Chuckling,
he looked at the bottle before he threw it over
his shoulder at Torben. "Fine,
you win." he said, slightly disappointed and dug further around
in the backpack. Torben held up the bottle with
a grin and winked Roland once. This stood as
ordered and not picked
up. "What is going on here?" he asked himself mentally confused and
looked at his teachers. Kyndle could
also do not much with the scene and looked questioningly also to the men.Torben grinning to
himself and made his way to the property. "What will become of the bonus?"
Roland asked curiously. "You will get it tomorrow." he answered quickly and waved at him briefly without
looking at him. "Now I show
Tim the real way to calm down." he muttered to himself, and disappeared behind the hedge of the garden."Everything seems to be here." said Aaros
left and turned
to his students. "Honestly,
I was thoroughly convinced of it, you'd be late."
he began thoughtfully and looked at him with his dull eyes. "But you've
got me once again proved wrong."
he added praise. Roland
smiled slightly embarrassed and threw his joyful
look to Kyndle which
satisfied cooing came
up to him and pressed her head against his chest. With closed eyes he hugged
his dragoness and held her tight. "Without you I would not make it." he whispered to her. Aaros bit back his smile and laid his hand on Roland's shoulder. "Now
look that you eat something and
get a good night's sleep." he told him with serious voice. "Tomorrow will
surely be long." he added,
and walked back to the barracks. Roland saw his dragoness demanding in
the eyes. "Who's first?"
he asked her and ran off also equal. Kyndle gave a surprised
"Meep" of herself and immediately took to the
persecution.......
Night fell and Roland
had some trouble to find his
sleep. Too nervous and tense
he was due
the following day. Thoughtfully, he
stared up at the ceiling, thinking about it, what awaited him the next morning. Not even Kyndles soft
purr at his side was
able to raise his fatigue.
Holding her in his arms he lay awake therefore
most of the night. Until finally the first
rays of sun were to be seen on
the horizon. The warm glow of the sun hit on Kyndles
nose and tickled her
gently from her sleep. Quiet
cooing she opened her eyes and was surprised to find that she was in bed
alone. Slightly nervous
sniffed around and crawled out from under the blanket. The door to the small
patio out was
half open and had a warm puff of air fell into the room. With her head she pushed
the door open further and saw
her partner. Roland was half dressed on the
railing and leaned his arms on it, while his
eyes flew thoughtful over the garden of the property. The female placed her forelegs on the
railing and rubbed her head
gently to Roland.
He felt her velvet scales on his face and
felt her soft purr. Smiling, he stroked with
an arm round under her head
and pressed her a
little more to him. "Morning."
he said softly, rubbing his hand over her cheek. She closed her eyes
and gave a contented "Chirp" of herself.Lifted his eyes again,
he looked to the barracks. Aaros and
Torben were already on the training ground. "Here we
go." Roland said, and went back
into the room. Kyndle threw her gaze once
to the barracks and
followed Roland shortly thereafter
with an awakened "Meep"
into it.Arrived at the
training ground waved Roland
yawning to his teachers. "Watch out that you
not swallow a fly." Torben greeted him with a big grin on his face. Roland closed
at his remark with a smile
the eyes and nodded once silent. Kyndle snorted
heavily in Torben's
direction and gave a welcoming treatment "Churr"
of what conjured
him a weak smile in
the face. "Come, I have
something for you." Torben
spoke loudly and waved Roland to the table with
the training weapons. Surprised, he walked to
the table, and also Kyndle was curious and looked
at the plate in detail. On the table lay a longer article which was covered by a thin
blanket. With a raised eyebrow, he looked at his teacher. Torben
began to smile and reached for the
blanket. "Since you helped me yesterday to win the bet." he paused and cleared his throat again. "I mean, you've managed to come back before sunset. Here is your bonus." With these words he
drew the cover of the article and for revealing
a longbow.Surprised stared Roland at the masterfully
crafted ranged weapon. "Go on." said Torben to him, looked confident
and held out an
arrow. Roland reached hesitantly after the arch and ran once with the hand over the material. He was compared to his other arches
very easily. Partly he pulled the string and
found that it had a strong
tension."I used it in former times."
Torben started and
looked at the bow. "He
was made of dragon
bones and the bowstring also has a draconic
origin." A faint smile grew on his face.
"What this thing gives one hell of a shock
when stretched him
to the limit." He said. "But
make yourself a picture
of it.h He added, handing him the
arrow.Roland took the bullet
from his teacher and put it to the tendon. Targeted
the straw person, who was suspended from a wooden
stake, he raised the bow and began to tighten. He
was surprised that this weapon needed
considerably more force for clamping. This
kept him but not to target him
quietly from his
goal. Next he pulled the arrow until the tip arrived
back at his fingers. Together with his slow exhalation
broke his fingers and released the arrow. With
tremendous speed the bullet sped hissing at the straw figure. With a loud crack, the arrow pierced the doll's head and broke the tip of the wooden timber with. Amazed
raised his eyebrows, he looked at the figure, which
collapsed headless. "Wow." he gave of himself quietly. Kyndle
gave a loud "Meep" of herself and made a little leap of joy. "That's right!" said Torben praise
and hit him with his hand on his back.Roland looked at the bone bow and threw
Torben then a
slightly skeptical look. "And you want to
give it to me?" he asked. "Of course. You anyway have a better hand
for that than me." he said and winked at him again."Since this is now resolved, we can now focus on the important
things." said Aaros seriously and put a heavy
backpack on the table. "Your
next task is Ansems house in the Whisperwood." he began. "Where exactly it will be, I can not tell you. You will have to find out for yourself. Presumably you can get some help from
someone in Ascom." "Ascom? Ok." replied
Roland confident. "Well, it's all in here." Aaros
began again and
handed him the full backpack. "I say
it out immediately and directly.
Ansem is crazy, which slightly complicates the matter with the medium." Roland looked at him confused. "And what
do I have to do then?" He
asked. "For that you've got the carrots and
the onion worried." stated
Aaros and cast his gaze briefly to the side.
"At least it had worked for me so." "And how does it work?" Roland
wanted to know. Aaros
smiled at him and saw him with his dull
look in his eyes. "That you will soon find out for yourself." He replied with a smile. "And
why should he be crazy?" probed by Roland.Aaros breathed again
and looked thoughtfully up at the sky. "Ansem was the archmage in the
guild of the three towers." He
began. "He had a powerful access and
enjoyed throughout the country a
good reputation. He spent most of
his lifetime with traveling to
unlock the secrets of the country.
The rumors by his
greed drove him to the knowledge
itself beyond the boundaries of the mortal world. It
was said that he had done it to enter the Dragon`s
Dogma, where he
met the Cronicler. He asked the
Guardian of Time for access to the
omniscient library. But his mortal mind
could not cope with this storm of knowledge and so he became
insane. ""And now an insane man will create my medium?" Roland asked skeptically. "If you formulate it
so? Yes!" replied Aaros left. With these
words in mind, he threw the heavy backpack over his shoulder and peered at his female dragon.
"Next stop is Ascom then."
he spoke to her. Kyndle
lifted her head slightly and gave with half-closed
eyes an affirmative "Churr" by herself.......
The sun beat down from a cloudless sky and distributed its scorching
rays of the country. Beads of
sweat ran from Roland's forehead as
he after the long journey with the horse, before the first houses of Ascom stood. "Phuu!"
He sighed hard.
His female dragon landed elegant next to him and looked at him peacefully cooing. Slowly he moved
his mount to the stables. Housed the horse he
made the first steps on the main
road through the town.Ascom was originally a workers' village, which
was founded by loggers in the Whisperwood and
the quarries of the Kaladrosmountains. But when a vein of gold was
discovered in the mountains was
the small settlement also influential merchants, after
which there was an explosive
growth. Now the city is thriving
with the distribution of finely worked
gold jewelry and is
used by many traders as a safe
stop.Roland stood outside
an inn and looked thoughtfully
up at the sign hanging above the entrance. "Gold
Rush" was incorporated in golden letters. "Let's try it here." Roland said
to his female dragon and looked
at her with confidence. Quiet
cooing she made a nodding gesture and
closed her eyes. He
smiled warmly and moved more quickly her
scarf around her neck cope. Then he entered
the restaurant, followed by his draconic partner. The interior of the inn was decorated with long blue cloth, which
were placed in large curves hanging on the
walls. On each side of the room
burned a large fire in an ornate marble
fireplace. Roland let his gaze wander
over the distributed tables. A low noise
level prevailed in the air, but
this ceased suddenly
emerged as Kyndle walked in. Skeptical threw the
guests their astonished
eyes to her. All were
whispering about the striking
color of the female dragon scales. Roland looked
surprised at the
many faces and swallowed once
empty. Breathed fresh
courage he walked to the counter where he was immediately stared at by a grumpy-looking man.
Kyndle followed him hesitantly, looking back and forth slightly
nervous."I need some information."
Roland said seriously. "We all need something." replied the man. He
raised both eyebrows at the sharp response from the host. "Have a drink or piss off." added the barman slightly angry. "And
take this there with you." he added, pointing provocatively on the orange-red-dragon. Kyndle
saw the man on very
suspiciously and snorted
condescending in his direction. Roland drew angry
the eyebrows together and clenched
his left hand into a fist. "That there?!" he repeated the words of
the host. Kyndle showed her teeth and growled softly."Heyhey! No stress!" A strange man came in between. "We do not do
something that we may be will regret. Right?" Somewhat
nervously looked this
to the bartender. "And to be quite honest. With the two I would not want to create." he said, pointing to Roland
and Kyndle. The host frowned grumpy
his face and gave an indifferent "Hmph!" by himself. With a shrug, he
turned and disappeared into the back
room. "You must excuse him."
said the stranger. "He does not like dragons. So
you need some info?" he
asked and led Roland to a nearby table.Roland breathed once
and loosened his hand before he stroked his
dragoness reassured over the forehead. He then threw the mediator
to a puzzled look.
"You could say it." he said and sat down
next to him at the table. "I
am Roland by the way, and that is
Kyndle." he added, stroking his female dragon on
the neck. Quiet cooing
she closed her eyes
and gave a quick "Churr"
by herself."Nice to meet you. I'm Walter." the man replied with a grin on his face. "So what
kind of information do you need?"
Roland leaned his
elbows on the table and kept his
hands together. "I am looking for a man
named Ansem." he began, lowering his hands. "He shall live
in the Whisperwood around here."
he added. Walters eyes flicked quickly when
he heard the name of the forest."A Ansem I
do not know, but there is a man
who lives in the Whisperwood."
said Walter. "Really?!"
hooked by Roland.
"Yes, that's an older guy. He comes two to
three times a year in here and babbles
something of guards, magic and soup." said Walter and rotated with his hands. Surprised Roland raised
his eyebrows. "This
sounds like the man I am looking for."
he said and nodded."What do you and your pet want from him?" Walter asked curiously. Kyndle threw the man at the
word pet a slightly annoyed look and snorted
once strong. Roland
also took a deep breath. "She is not a pet." he replied gravely. "No?"
inquired Walter after. "No. She is my partner."
Roland said. Kyndle leaned her
head on his shoulder as he expressed it, and began
to purr softly. Walters view more abruptly
a scowl. "Get
out of here!" he cursed and stood up abruptly, which earned him
the attention of the other guests.
Roland and Kyndle saw the man in surprise. "Did you not hear you freak. Pack your miscarriage
and piss of!" he said angrily, pointing to the exit. Roland stood up and looked
at him angrily. "Be careful
what you ...." He broke off his threat
when he noticed how all the other guests were also stood up and looked
gloomily in his direction.Kyndle showed her
teeth and hissed with slit pupils at
the many faces. Roland kept reassuring his
open hand into view, which left her mute low growl. A little confused, she looked at her partner. Roland looked seriously
at the many angry
people. Some were
not afraid to express their opinion.
"It's against nature! What a freak! Go to
hell! Something like you, we
need not here!" they scolded by another.Roland glanced to
Kyndle. He noticed a slight tear in her
eyes and her view slowly lowered
itself to the ground. With closed eyes
Roland took a deep breath and held his hand on
the edge of the female dragon. "We're done
here." he said tense and led Kyndle
to the exit. Suspicious, they all watched until
they were under the door frame. "A second Hector, how stupid!" echoed Walter's
voice in his back. Roland stopped during
Kyndle with downcast eyes went outside. Standing upright, he
stared at him and clenched his right fist. A faint
blue glow came back
of his hand and he felt a faint
throbbing in his arm. "Do us a favor and finally fuck off!" Walter swore again
and pointed to the door.Kyndle put some
distance between himself and this
unfriendly tavern. Dejected, she sat down under a tree and
looked up at the inn. A loud bang was heard and
a thick cloud of dust came out of the door. Roland
came with slow
steps from the thick cloud
and wiped his hands.
Something exhausted, he stopped in front of his sitting dragoness and took
a deep breath. "Assholes." he thought to himself,
and threw Kyndle a warm look. Quiet cooing
she looked up at him and closed her eyes half. "Can we?" he asked, jerking his head toward the
woods. She gave a slow nod of silent and stood up.Roland stood in front of the first trees of the
Whisperwood and threw a tired
look to the high sun. The hand
held between the
fiery rays and his face, he breathed out heavily. The
backpack rightly drawn he looked to his female
dragon, which depressed easily trotted after
him.He felt a sinking
feeling in his stomach. "That'll
be fun." he thought sarcastic to himself and dropped his gaze to
the ground. Unsure he entered with Kyndle the Whisperwood.
The condescending comments from Ascom
in mind he took a step after the other between the trees, in search of an insane mage and a
downcast female dragon
in tow.
