#45 of Roman Life

Geese and shepherds alike guard a certain lupo.....

Heyo!

Here's the new chapter of Roman Life! As you recall, the previous one was left on a cliffhanger... A question finally asked... Well, sorry to spoil you, but this chapter won't resolve that But I still hope you will like it!

As always, thanks to Gritou for being so awesome! And there might be updates from our life together, but will wait for some situations to get finalize :3

"Cazzo1, how do they manage to wear THESE!" Ale complained, trying hard not to focus on his trapped footpaws. Socks and sandals weren't made to be wore together, of that he was sure!

"Don't be a big baby, I don't find it that terrible." His girlfriend rebuked him, as they walked along the edges of the fossato2. She managed to pull that "German tourist" outfit well enough, that shirt and shorts really didn't hide her forms... And the straps of her backpack...

"I am not! I am sure my ancestors escaped Germany because of THESE!" He replied, waving his big paws towards his feet. He had to buy those sandals for this gig, and now he was so regretting it. Maledetto lui3and his will to be in character!

"You know it was either this or impersonating a fat American." The sheppie chimed in, then patted his muscles stomach. "Preferisco questo4, don't want you to hide your muscles!"

"Yeah, you are right..." He grumbled, now close to the entrance of the park around Castel Sant'Angelo. The rottie knew that this disguise was the easier and most successful in avoiding notice, what with them both having far German origins. Plus, he was sure Luca wouldn't glance twice at two Germans and-

His pocket vibrated, his phone being excited at getting a text. Fishing it out, he read it quickly, already knowing from whom it was.

He typed the right code, setting Sara and Lidia loose on the unaware lupo. The restorer kinda regretted doing that to his friend, but it was the best way to distract him while they get inside....

"Hurry up, the geese are already in action!" The black canine said to his companion, his ears and tail moving in excitement.

"Oh my, we must not lose our window!" The German Shepherd replied gleefully, the both of them increasing their pace without much effort. They reached the pub in no time, seeing the familiar figures of a squirrel and a tigress chatting with Luca and his date.

"Seems like they just got started, we can relax a bit." The rottie puffed out, standing there by the entrance and waiting for the signal. The place wasn't bad at all, the kind of pubs that sprung like bad grass during the summer time. Maybe he could come here again with Luca on lunch break...

"Oh, I found our table! Shall we go?" Clara exclaimed, thankfully not pointing the table with the fake sunflower, just past the lupine's.

"Not yet, need to warn the Oche." He replied, texting to Sara that they were in position. The muscled dog saw her reading his text and swiftly typing the answer, which arrived in mere seconds.

"And there we go, stay silent and be quick!" Ale ordered the other, already moving in what, he hoped, looked like a Teutonic manner. He passed just a meter from his friend, heart beating fast in fear he recognized him, and if he did, all hell would break lose, but thankfully Lidia had picked up that moment to be... well herself, so the lupo spared just a glance for the two tourists.

Bolting to their table, he sighed when they both reached it unscathed, putting down their zaini7 so that they could sit down with ease.

"I think we managed to sneak unnoticed." The sheppie whispered excitedly. There was no need to do that, their contact had assured them the feline-canine duo couldn't hear them from there; but the athletic lawyer was enjoying the secrecy and acted like they were in a spy story... Which was their situation. Kinda.

"Yeah, else we would have been scolded at this point." He agreed, his fingers busy with the phone in his paw.

Ale was kinda liking all the code phrased they were exchanging, even if deep down he knew that it was silly. From his seat he had a perfect view of the lupo's table, and so he witnessed his two agents saying good-by to the couple, the tigress being as loud as possible.

"Our contact was right, this is a good sport to spy on someone!" Clara exclaimed, regarding the departing from the corner of her eye.

"Yeah, I hope that she was right on them not being able to see us..." He mumbled, still focused on the lupine. Even if those two could look straight at them, Sara and her friend's purpose was to give Luca a menace to be concentrate on, minimizing the possibilities of spotting the disguised rottie.

"I am quite sure it is the case. By the way, Luca has eyesonly for the puma." His girlfriend noted. Ale could... kinda see that, his friend kept his stare on the good looking American boy and never getting it off... Still, all this charade had been necessary.

"Yeah... How I wish we could hear their conversation." The restorer complained. He knew that the cougar was hiding something, and he wonder if the canine had asked him about his alleged "girlfriend"... If he was a stronzo9 he was going to make the pretty boy regret hurting his best friend...

"That would be excessive, Ale. We are here just in case, guarding Luca." His lovely companion reminded him of their mission. They were there just as guardian angels, nothing more, nothing less.

"Still, I want to know about his ragazza10." He replied, his ears flicking. The rottie didn't want his friend in a difficult situation, the lupo wasn't like Carlo; he couldn't handle having a relationship with a cheating fur...

"You know your friend, do you think they addressed the matter already?" Clara asked him with a smile that made his heart melt.

"... No. Luca is probably too mesmerize to remember that." The dog conceded her, his ears dropping a bit. He loved his roommate, to death, but sometimes he had the tendency of ignoring stuff he didn't like... The douche-y Carlo was a prime example.

"So, no need to worry. Plus we have a couple of ears around and here she is!" She finished her sentence with a bright smile as a black cocker spaniel approached them, notepad in paw ready for orders.

"Well, you two fits the description Guido gave me!" The short canine greeted them more warmly than most of her clients, Ale swore. Or maybe not, the rottie didn't know her at all.

"You must be Jessica! Hi, I'm Clara, he is Ale, nice to meet you!" His girlfriend answered with equally warm words, they just lacked a hug and they would have looked like long lost friends, the male canine thought.

"I wonder how Guido described us..." He mused by himself in a somewhat skeptical tone, unfortunately he was in the presence of two keen eared girls who regarded him with a benevolent smile.

"He said you would be a rottie and a sheppie dressed like Germans." Jessica simply said, before adding with a mischievous smile. "He added the rottie is, his words, un bonazzo11. And he was right!"

That description made Ale blush madly and sink in his chair, the two girls just laughing at his reaction. He hoped that didn't attract the attention of Luca, and a glance to his direction assured him not; still, it was weird to be described as... Good looking by a gay fur.

"So, did the lovebirds settled down nicely?" Clara inquired, leaning toward the waitress with interest. Ale did the same, so he could listen the report from the black dog, ears almost as perked as the sheppie's tall ones.

"Yeah, ain't no problem. They were chitchatting until the two sgallettate12 arrived." The curly haired fur said, making him cringe inside at hearing Sara being called like that. Lidia might be, but the squirrel clearly didn't deserve to get such a name.

"No moments where it seemed to be some tension?" The restorer inquired, biting down any bad remark. He hoped the girl was good enough to have sensed if they had been talking about important stuff.

"Nope. They were always smiling! That pischello Americano13 is a real cutey, and so well mannered..." The cocker got a bit misty eyes, like a teen age girl with her crush. She almost looked cute for a second, before she ruined it by talking again. "If he wasn't interested in the lupo, me lo farebbi14!"

Setting aside the rather... untasteful comment, of which he didn't need to know, Ale regarded her with a piercing stare, all serious. "Can I ask you something? If those two begin something that even remotely look like a serious conversation..."

"Mi accollerò15 to them, no worries Capo16!" She finished for him, all serious too. "I find this cute, that his friends are worried about him and want to guard him."

"As long as you don't find it creepy!" The sheppie in front of him joked, laughing throatily. That was just one of the many things he found sexy in her, that laugh alone made something steer in his kaki shorts.

"I do find it a bit creepy too. In a good way." The other replied with a wink and a small laugh of her own, which had a somewhat vulgar tinge in it. "Now, time for work, watcha get you?"

"I think just a beer for me would be enough, thanks!" Clara ordered, the remains of her laugh still lingering and making her eyes sparkle.

"Blonde one will do?" The standing canine wanted to precise, and a nod sufficed for her because she scribbled on her notebook right away. "And you Capo?"

"The same. And maybe some appetizer." He told her, his stomach grumbling a bit despite the tension he felt. His eyes were still fixed on his friend, who was amiably talking with his date, all well and nice in his world.

"Patatine17? Nachos? Those ones can have cheese and salsa on them!" The waitress proposed him, and those nachos weren't sounding that bad to his triangular ears....

"Nachos it is." He concurred, already a bit salivating at the idea of the corn chips in his mouth.

"Okay. Coming right up!" The cocker spaniel nodded and then was off to fetch their stuff. A vibration on the table told him he got another message from Sara, which he opened as quickly as possible.

The Falcon seems well from here. L'oca tigrata18 can't stop talking about those two

_ _

That text brought him a smile, he could actually feel the annoyance of his friend through the words.

Looks good from here too. Just met our contact.

Sending the reply, he looked up and his eyes met the brown ones of his own date, who was lovingly staring at him, her muzzle resting on her locked paws, her arms forming a kind of stand.

"So, how is Sara enduring Lidia? Can't believe she is friend with her!" She exclaimed, not in a mean way, more in a curious one, maybe because she couldn't see how such different furs could be bonded by friendship.

"Neither do I." Was his simple reply, since he couldn't agree more. The trauma of his discovery of such an... unholy partnership was still making him shivers in apprehension. Not that he was going to tell Clara how the tigress had made him pass a bad quarter of hour by overworrying about nothing... Or how she had tried to get in his pants.

"She looks like she could do hara-kiri right now." The sheppie noted, as she was looking at the two unlikely friends, still with the kind of smile as if she knew that kind of feeling. The Rottweiler just hoped he never steered such an effect in her.

"Sara says the tigress is wearing out her ears on Luca and his date." He told her, extrapolating from the short text. And here his phone chimed again, as if he had summoned a new one, which contained the newest report.

The trucida19? She just passed, thank God for the new topic!

_ _

"Aaaaaaand now they passed talking about Jessica." Ale announced to his girlfriend, veering the conversation to a safer subject than the tigress and her.... Lusts.

"What are they saying about her?" The fluffy haired dog asked him, as all women ready to hear some gossip, even if indirectly delivered. Her ears danced on her head for the excitement, risking of knocking down her hat.

"Probably trash-talk, from how she called her." He dismissed, seeing the cougar in the other table almost finishing his sandwich. It looked delicious, making him crave for his nachos even more... But they seemed to be far from coming.

"Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh what are they calling her?" She kept inquiring on the subject. Ale wasn't really sure if he could tell her, since it seemed she was a friend of her friend Guido, but maybe there was no harm in that...

"Trucida." The rottie answered with just one word, bracing himself for violent response from his sweetheart. Apart from a couple of flickers, though, her smile didn't wavered, actually it became a bit more knowing.

"Oh yeah, I think the definition fits her well." Clara said, nodding. There was something more in that, he knew that, and maybe he shouldn't ask more... But since Luca's date wasn't providing enough entertainment for now, he needed to distract his mind.

"By the way, we were very lucky that Luca went to a place where Guido knew someone." He commented, setting the ball rolling, so to speak. Not that we wouldn't have find other ways if such a lucky coincidence didn't happen.

"Yep, we were extremely lucky." The sheppie nodded, and the Rottweiler nodded how the curls on her head bobbed in a cute way when she moved her head.

"Wonder how Guido knows her... And you didn't tell me how he convinced her to help us..." He rumbled, speaking up his mind. He sure couldn't see how the cocker spaniel and the licaone20 could know each other.

"Ehm, I don't know how they met... He didn't tell me." She hesitated a bit, and the rottie was quite sure that she would have taken a long sip of beer if it had been there. That piqued his interest even further, making his push on the point.

"But she must be doing this for something, not just for the thrill of it." He replied, trying to convey his skepticism and desire of knowledge through his features. The German Shepherd moved uncomfortable on her chair for a bit before she spoke again.

"Let's just say that they will meet after the end of he shift... At his place." Clara finally told him. The implication didn't hit him immediately, but when it did it was like a hammer in his muzzle.

"But... But I thought he was gay!" Was the only thing he could come up with. The painted wolf seemed so... well, homosexual, much more than Luca. He couldn't see him nailing a chick.... Maybe.... "Does she knows he is gay?"

"Don't be silly Ale!" His date rebuffed him, with a jokingly stern look on her muzzle, probably because she knew he was confused. "He is bisexual. And yes, she perfectly knows that."

"He is..." He couldn't finish the phrase, he was in total disbelief. The rottie knew that there were furs who liked both... things, but one thing was knowing it, another actually meeting one. Bedding a male or a female were two completely different things... right?

"Yes, so it is hardly a sacrifice for him." She told him, the amused expression still on her muzzle. "He was going after Jessica for a while now."

"What? Even when we had the double date?" The buff restorer asked, not adding more else it would have been more an accusation than a statement. One thing was trying to hook Luca up with a bisexual man, but if that fur had been going after a woman at the time....

"Yeah, but from what I know, with girls it's only sex. With boys he wants a commitment, a deeper connection." The sheppie replied, even if that didn't make any inch of sense. If Ale was bisexual he would have done the other way around, after all there are no restrains with men, just sex... right?

"You are telling me that if they would have hooked up, Guido would have stuck to my lupo?" He asked, trying to get rid of those strange thoughts in his head.

"Totally. He is always like that, lots of one night stands with girls except when he is with a guy." Clara reinforced the idea, which sounded still fuori dal mondo21 for him. But if the painted wolf's boat rocked that way, who was him to criticize?

"I wonder which his type of woman is now..." The Rottweiler meditated on such a conundrum. He faintly remembered the licaone appreciating Edward, and so far he could see the point in that, the cougar was attractive and seemed a good fur... as much as he hated saying that. But Jessica was... well, a trucida.

"You saw his type, dear. He liked them, uhm, rustiche22." She explained him with a wave of her paw.

"Why would he prefer them like that?" The rottie didn't knew better and asked for more, even forgetting to look at his friend during this conversation.

"They are more... amusing in bed. Or willingly to do stuff... I don't really want to tell you that though." Clara smirked, as if she knew too many details of Guido's sex life. Probably she was, thanks to her status as his friend, but still he didn't see why the licaone would tell such things to her... Luca didn't ever tell him what he liked, if he loved to have a... well, that in his... well, that.

Ale opened his mouth, with the will to get away from such confusing topic and maybe starting a bit of flirtation since everything was goin-
