Family pt1
Kai gets everyone together! A nerve wracking gathering given, well, everything the overwhelmed fox-bun is going through and how much life has changed. Even more so given how... proper Zav's mother seems to be. True to her fear, though, her father does bring something up that, well, probably isn't the smartest or more decent thing to bring up at a family picnic. But, well, even she has to admit it should probably be addressed. Honestly, as you can likely tell from the title, this is part 1 of 2: I considered uploading both together, but that's ~16k words. I'll post the next part either Thursday or Friday! I promise I didn't forget about those more interested in this than Prismarc!
As we got closer to the park, I was getting more and more nervous. My bun-fox self was accompanied by… a lot more than just my dragon partner: our potential vixen partner (and my school friend Zav and a certain devil husky managed to find, though they already knew her), our… pet polar bear (I was still trying to wrap my head around that one; Aeltia wouldn’t even look at me without blushing this morning), and the aforementioned devil husky, pregnant with her lion mate’s cub-pups. Apparently, Delia was more concerned with meeting my parents, though. Gwyn and Zav each had a hold of my hands, though Gwyn did let go as we got closer to the park. I wasn’t letting her off that easy, though: my bushy tail draped around her hips and she squeaked but leaned against me. Zav curled his wing around us both: it seemed I was going to have to get used to being squished now.
“This isn’t too revealing, right?” I asked Zav. “I kinda got the impression at least your mother was a bit…” The dragon wore a simple white t-shirt and pair of black shorts; he had a basket-style backpack on his back with our group’s contribution to the picnic.
“Snobbish?” He chuckled. “And I’d rather you be comfortable than sweltering, love.”
“Not the word I was going to use.” Mine was going to be more flattering, at least; I was thinking ‘noble.’ Even so… At his, and Gwyn’s, insistence, I’d worn a pair of new, light-fabric capris I’d bought. I wasn’t totally wild about them: they were black with a silver-indigo line that ran ragged, like a lightning bolt of sorts, down the sides. Aeltia and Gwyn both said the line helped the black not feel so… strong; I guess I could sort of see it. And Zav had insisted on an indigo leather halter top that was barely more than loop of fabric attached to a collar (that laid against the base of my neck, not around it like an actual collar) that fitted around me snug enough to hold itself in place, which had the emphasis on my chest. If it wasn’t for the material, it could pass as a swim-wear top. Gwyn had gone back to her apartment to change into a vertically chevron-striped blue and green sundress: she wore sandals as well.
“You look great, Kai~” Gwyn said. Delia let out a ruff of agreement. Alrac seemed to be needed back home (and apparently felt like he didn’t really need to be there, either; he trusted me and Zav to look after his mate after all).
“Ugh, I’m just afraid it’s gonna slip or something.” Admittedly, normally, I wouldn’t worry, but I really didn’t want Zav’s family to get the wrong idea about me (well, maybe not wrong, I do go around topless quite a bit, but I still didn’t want them thinking that way). Gwyn rolled her eyes a bit but stopped me before moving in front, waving everyone else on.
“You’re really nervous, huh?”I tilted my head as she pulled something out of the bag she carried with her and took my own messenger back off for a moment. “Your tail’s flicking all over the place. And your ears are jumping at every sudden sound.” I hadn’t even noticed; I’d been theorycrafting Spellslinger builds in my head to keep my mind from imagining further and further worst-case scenarios. Gwyn’s nimble fingers adjusted my top a bit, even using her claws to pierce the leather right beneath each of my breasts. Anyone else I would’ve yelled at, but Gwyn did this sort of thing for a living.
“I really want this to go well, and I really like Zav. I don’t want to do something that would make us being together difficult. All three of us.” I said, rubbing my nose against Gwyn’s as she fitted something to my top. And then showed me in a compact mirror the ‘antique gold’ chain she’d installed and showed, by tugging, that it would keep my top in place.
“That’s sweet, Kai, but if you’re too nervous, you’ll wind up doing just that.” Gwyn said, her hand resting on my chest as she pressed her forehead to mine. She could likely feel my heart thumping… pretty hard, though not that fast, I thought. It could just be my imagination, though. I turned it into a kiss, our tails wrapping around our hips; slipping my tongue into her muzzle made her squeak, but it gave me something else to focus on. At least until I spied a pair of eyes watching us from the trees.
“Mana, Sol!” I squeaked; Gwyn did as well. I honestly wasn’t sure how much they remembered her: they were just past cub age when we both left our hometown.
“Whoa, you two have gotten so big~!” Gwyn tried to brush off what they’d just seen. The two of them ran over and hugged me, a little more forcefully than I expected. They came up to my shoulder, so it was… a little hard to keep my balance. I hugged them both, though, and ruffled their headfur. They took after mom like that; they didn’t get hair like I did.
“That dragon sent us to come get you and big sis Gwyn!” Mana said. “We, uh… didn’t expect that, though.” Gwyn hugged Sol while my brother spoke to me. “Sorry to interrupt…”
“Whoa, who are you? You look like my brother, but you’re way more considerate than I remember.” I joked, booping his nose but giving him another hug. “But you’re fine, I’m just… nervous. Like… super nervous.” I sighed.
“Oh, he’s got a crush on some girl~” Sol told me, which only made Mana bark indignantly. “But she’s got a boyfriend, so…”
“It’s not like that!” He whined. Oh, it definitely was. Gwyn looked like she was trying not to laugh. Though that did make me think for a moment.
“Even if it’s not, I need you both to hear me when I say this: my situation is… fairly uncommon.” Polyamory wasn’t unheard of, of course, nor was it taboo, but it was rare and certainly not for everyone (I’m still unsure just how I’ve found so many so quickly; I guess like attracting like?). “So do not think you have to follow in my footsteps or do the same.” I said, looking at them both seriously. Sol rolled her eyes with a sigh.
“Mom’s already told us that!”
“Though even she seemed surprised when that dragon showed up with so many that weren’t you. And his parents freaked out for a moment when they saw the husky.” I squeaked at that; I didn’t even think how that would look, sorry Zav! “Dad about had a fit, too.” Oh gods, I really hoped Delia kept her devilish teasing to just our group. Mana looked as worried as I felt. So did Gwyn.
“Maybe we shouldn’t have stopped?” My friend said (okay… girlfriend? Partner? Dammit, I wasn’t sure what to call her at this point; I guess girlfriend felt right).
“I’m… pretty sure Delia will behave. But yeah, now I’m worried. We probably should’ve told them, though… We did think Alrac would be coming.”
“Wow, Sis, just how many are in your group~?” Sol’s question made me and Gwyn blush.
“I’ll explain to everyone, once, in a moment!” I said; I took my siblings’ hands and headed to the larger group that was waiting for us at the pavilion. So… in addition to my group of five, there were five other dragons there and then my family of four. Yeah, picnic was the right call. I gave my mom and dad a hug, and surprisingly Lyth gave me a hug as well.
“There are… a number of others here.” Zav’s mother, Mel, said. And she did not sound particularly happy about that.
“We were warned, hun. I’m sure Kai will explain.” Bjorn said, the green dragon’s tail wrapping around his mate’s. “And we did fill Roln and Wyrn in as well.” I’m assuming that meant about my hermaphroditic nature.
“Yes, well…” I launched into it saying this was primarily about me trying to make my best impression and show I was being totally upfront: Aeltia and Gwyn were potential possibilities, but I wanted them to know I wouldn’t bring anyone around that I even thought was a hunter. And Del did explain that she and Zav had their fun (and that’s all it was; it seems she’d honestly forgotten about the whole ‘hunter’ business), but she had a proper mate and was closer to me, even. She had also behaved herself and explained that all the cubs in her belly were Alrac’s very quickly. I knew how tempted she might’ve been to play it off as a mixed litter of all three of us.
“… Alright then.” Mel said; she still didn’t seem… particularly happy. I couldn’t get a read on Bjorn, but Zav’s siblings? They were trying really hard to not laugh their tails off. While I spoke, Zav, Aeltia, and Gwyn set things up. “And this Alrac of Delia’s?”
“He had to stay behind today.” I said. “But he’s quite devoted to Delia.”
“Even so-”
“Mom, seriously, you’re way too paranoid. And if a male is ‘hunting’ Zav, I think we can let Zav handle it however he wants, it’s not like it’s a huge risk.” One of the brothers said. Unlike Lyth and Zav; they were copies of their parents (though the blue one was, of course, a masculine mirror of their mother), though I didn’t know which one was
“Speaking of, you’re not like Delia, right?” Lyth asked; I shook my head when I realized what she meant.
“N-no! I mean, we have talked about it, of course.” I said with a faint twitch of my tail. “I mean, she is kinda a reminder of where we hope our relationship will get to someday, so…”
“Yeah, that makes sense. Though, you and Zav… those are going to be some odd kids.” The green brother said. Lyth swatted at him with her wing.
“Forgive Wyrn, please. Our brother is a geneticist.” I groaned.
“Oh gods; there’s two of them now.” The whole family just looked at me. “Well… good to know Dad’s behaving himself.”
“Mostly; he was already looking at real estate nearby.” My mother said from behind me. I whined… though it wouldn’t be bad to have such concerned and curious help nearby. “I do think Delia’s distracted him, for now.”
“Oh, I’ll bet.” I said. “I’m glad she’s behaving, too.” I honestly wasn’t sure if I was going to be completely relaxed until I was back at my computer at this point. Or snuggled with Zav and Gwyn while playing a handheld or something.
“Relax, dear. Have a little more faith in others. I was surprised to see Gwyn with you, though.”
“She, quite literally, pounced me not long after I hung up.” I said, explaining that story, including the fact she’d apparently known about my gender for a while. “So… yeah, that’s why she’s here. It would’ve felt really weird to call you up in a couple of months, if that worked out, and said ‘oh, by the way, here’s the third in our trio!’” I explained. “And as for Aeltia… that’s like… feeling everyone out.”
“Not getting in too far, are you?” Lyth half-joked.
“Oh, I’m floundering. And we’ve not even started work on our next project yet.” I sighed. “Well, Gaminghouse; I am helping Zav with his editing.”
“Whoa, surprised he’s already told you about that! Or letting you read the manuscripts.” Roln said. “Wait…”
“I know about EN and UK, if he’s got others, he’s not told me.” I said. “Actually a huge fan of EN. Before meeting.”
“Not UK?” Lyth asked.
“I mean, the story’s fine, but… I do wish there were more women.” I shrugged. Lyth raised her eyebrow at that. “What? I can easily put myself in both roles in that case. Any further detail is… probably a more private conversation.” I stuck my tongue out a bit before realizing how that’d probably seem. Ugh, the black-and-blue scaled dragoness was just too cute; it was hard to not want to flirt even if I did already sorta consider her my sister. “S-sorry.”
“Oh, no, it’s fine. Better than some lame pick-up line at least.” Lyth said. “Though if mom had heard…”
“Yeah, sorry about her Kai. It is partially our fault.” Roln said with a sigh. “But even so, she’s had some very rigid views about family for some reason. Us already having kids without mates bothered her. Now, well…”
“Don’t let it bother you, though. We can already tell you’re not a hunter. Maybe have a thing for dragons?” Wyrn said; I squeaked and blushed, which made all of them chuckle. “You’re not the first. My ‘hunter’ started out like that, though, so be careful.”
“I’ve got my own weirdness, after all. But, yeah, I will be, thanks.” I said; I could imagine the pitfalls of sorts. But I really couldn’t imagine really wanting any other dragon as much as I did Zav. Male, anyways. Thal… that was still a different story. A conflicting story.
“Are you three done teasing her?” Zav’s wings wrapped around me and pulled me to his belly. My ears twitched in surprise when I saw he’d gotten me a plate of berry-cabbage salad with chicken (look, I’m a fox bun, I eat a lot of all three of those; carrots, too, I guess). I chirred and kissed his chin before taking it from him.
“Ugh, after that, yeah. Too sweet… can’t poke fun.” Lyth whined. I blushed and just brought a mouthful of food to focus on. “Still, was shocked to hear your… I guess it’s not really a secret?”
“I mean, I don’t advertise it. And at least telling your parents…”
“Oh, definitely don’t blame you for leaving that to yours. They were… really good at answering questions. Though it was more in general and less about yourself.”
“Oh just a string of relationships semi-spoiled by that exact thing. At least when it comes to trying to find guys. Girls are a little easier for me to get long with, but well… that one made it hard for me to find anyone close. Let alone anyone who’s open to sharing or at least having a third.”I explained, motioning to Gwyn, who was talking with Zav’s, and mine, parents. She looked relaxed, but if my past memories were still true, she was ridiculously tense at the moment. The measured sways of her tail gave it away: it was too regular and controlled.
“… She is Glacé, isn’t she?” Lyth asked. I squeaked; we had deliberately left that detail out. “Sorry, we just sorta were running security for someone else at the airport when she got into town a week or so ago. You’re not some secret multi-million tech genius or something, right?”
“Gods, no; I was contract-to-contract on my rent before meeting Delia. I’m just glad these two like to be secretive.” I leaned back against Zav. “I mean, there is my streaming channel. That’s got a small following.”
“Oh?” Roln pulled out his phone. I sighed and gave him my handle. “Whoa, you’re above 500 subscribers.”
“Yeah, after a couple of years. I barely break 100 viewers on any given stream.” I shrugged. “I mean, it helped, but it wasn’t a lot. I’m not near as… energetic as some others. Maybe once I get some of our team to join in on streams to help bounce the energy back and forth it’ll probably do better. Delia’ll be good for that. As long as she can keep it professional. Rayen and Nicolau, too. And Jayadev whenever he’s in town.”
“Oh, you guys are gonna start streaming? That should be interesting.” I nodded to Wyrn’s question.
“Oops, here come our parents…” Lyth said; indeed Bjorn and Mel left Gwyn… who promptly fled and found a place to sit, hugging Sol and Mana; she had always enjoyed playing with them when they were younger. “Good luck.” The three of them gave us our space. I quickly finished the salad, Zav hugging around my waist.
“Relax, love.” He muttered against my ear; his purring tickling against me made me giggle.
“I’m trying. I kinda feel like I threw your mom in the deep-end; my parents have always encouraged me to find a poly-type set-up.” I sighed, my hand rubbing on his arm.
“Maybe, but I’ve always been a bit… lax about relationships. I still want you, of course~” He rumbled quietly. “But I want you to be fulfilled even more. Gwyn, too; she seems sweet.” I pulled the taller dragon into a quick kiss, though his mother’s cough interrupted us. “S-sorry.”
“It’s quite alright. After speaking with Gwyn and Aeltia, I’m more convinced you really were trying to be considerate with bringing them and Delia.” Mel said. “I may not be… totally happy, but it’s not my life. I do just have a question; if I said no kids?”
“I… honestly couldn’t promise that. Not because of the ‘hunter’ thing. I don’t know what stereotypes you hold about herms, but I consider myself fully both.” I said; I only hesitated a moment to figure out a way to not be rude about denying it. “And, well…” I wiggled my ears purposefully, which only made Bjorn laugh. “So… I want a family. A large one. And I want Zav as my partner for that.” I squeezed my hand against his arm. “Of course; I want you both part of that too; they would be your grandchildren.”
“And our daughter?” Bjorn asked. Okay, that was a little unexpected and I felt my ears burn.
“Is… lovely and adorable, but off-limits. I mean, sister-through-mates might work for some, but I’m not one of those.” I spoke quietly. I did wonder if he somehow heard or saw my accidental attempt at flirting with her.
“She is adorable, isn’t she~?” He grinned and chuckled. “A shame Jaya’s interested in someone else.” I could hear Zav rolling his eyes a bit, somehow.
“Alright, I am a little more relaxed now. And it is lovely to meet you, really. Sorry about being so on guard.” Mel said with a soft, though slightly strained smile.
“Oh no, I get it. And promise to be the same with my own kids… maybe doubly so, depending just how many of my traits they get.” I… was a little surprised how protective I was over our hypothetical children, already.
“Your parents were unsure just how dominant that particular aspect could be, it seems?” Mel asked.
“Yeah, unfortunately. I mean, simulations put it so that it’s effectively an even chance for, well, any and all, but simulations are only so good.” I sighed, resting my head against Zav’s chest. Zav scratched subtly against my hip and made me smile a little.
“So, do you two, or three, have a timeline or timeframe?” Bjorn asked. I shook my head.
“Not… particularly?” Zav said. “We wanted to make sure at least Mom wasn’t caught off guard or anything. And we are starting a project here soon.”
“Ugh, true…” I groaned. “I mean, at least work and home are the same place, basically. But… late nights and crunch-time stress.”
“That’s only towards the end; we try to keep crunch to a minimum, too, hun.” Zav rumbled. “But we can talk about this later.” Oh gods, yes… part of me was fighting the rest of my common sense and decorum to pull him into the trees nearby at the thought of it all. And I wasn’t in heat for another week or two. “I think your mom and dad wanted to talk to you, too.” Zav motioned; they had been patient enough, after all.
I pulled myself away from Zav, grabbing another helping of food before joining my parents and Delia. “You doing alright?” I asked the husky when I hopped to sit on the table itself; I could tell my mother wanted to say something, but she stayed quiet. Delia leaned against my leg.
“Yeah, though your dad has had some… odd questions.” I squinted at my fox-father and he just looked a little nervous.
“H-hey now! It’s actually kind of pertinent to, well, the Wavepulse’s concerns. And our research.” He said. “But without testing, I don’t really want to say anything definitive.” He said.
“Should talk with Wyrn; he’s an actual geneticist.” I said. Dad’s eyes went wide and he scurried off, which only made my mother sigh and glare a bit at me. “What?”
“Your father’s worried you might be carrying the whole ‘mythic’ factor now, too, you know?” That… made me think. And blush. I had mated with Zav a lot and I’m sure it’s had an effect on me, particularly with how little came out after we were done. “And yes, we do know you’ve played with Delia a bit since you and Zav got together.” I squeaked and then my eyes went wide.
“Oh, hells, your cubs!”
“I’m sure they’re fine, Kai.” Delia said… though there was a nervous lilt to her tone.
“Ugh, this is why I wish Dad would behave…” I groaned, leaning back on my hands after I set a half-eaten portion of food to the side. “Wait, no, I’m glad he thought of it, but still.”
“No, I get you. Apparently that’s why he wanted to stay quiet… and go with me to see a doctor.” I snorted slightly; that seemed like a bit an overstep, no matter how good the intentions.
“Would you want him there?”
“Maybe? I mean, Alrac’s alright with the idea.” She showed me the text conversation between her and the lion about it that she’d apparently started after Dad brought it up. The lion did point out that having a scientist around to help them parse all the potential jargon would be useful… which was a point. Alrac did bring up the other point that it was moot until I was examined, though.
“Let me guess, Dad has a test kit in his car?” I asked Mom; she nodded.
“We can wait until after the picnic, no need to worry the Wavepulses, either. But we should probably let Gwyneirue in on it, too.” I blushed; my mind was still trying to wrap around that. The vixen in question came over with my siblings and kissed my cheek.
“How do you look more tired than when you were talking with Zav’s parents? Your dad?” Gwyn had seen my dad go off a few times, so at least she understood.
“Yeah; I’ll tell you as we’re leaving.” I said. Dad was coming back and looked at me a bit sheepishly. “Verdict?”
“He did agree it’d be safer to check, at least. Apparently he was going to discuss it with Zav later.” My tail swished a bit and sighed; if it wasn’t just my dad saying it, might as well, right? Delia let out a ruff and nuzzled my knee.
“Hey, if something is up, we’ll figure it out, Kai. I mean, I can’t imagine anything bad coming from this, really.” Gwyn just raised her eyebrow and I sighed, whispering what was up in her ear. “Unless it’s like… comic-book level logic.” Delia added.
“Don’t say that; these past few months have felt like that. ‘Dance with a husky at a club, suddenly have a three-to-four-and-maybe-five person relationship’? Or even six. It’s still weird to me where Alrac is in all of this. Besides yours.” I stuck my tongue out at the husky while scratching behind Mana’s ears; he’d always enjoyed it as a kid, and still seemed to, even if the gesture embarrassed him and he swatted my hand away. “And then there’s Jayadev… and Thal…”
“Whoa, gonna go through the whole team at this rate! Besides Nic.” Delia laughed. I stuck my tongue out. “And maybe Sia? Not really sure with her.” That was… intriguing in a sate-my-curiosity way; I had my paws full enough, thanks!
“It sounds like your father and I should still stop by this place.” I squeaked; I’d forgotten Mom was still there.
“It’s quite alright!” I huffed. Gwyn giggled and joined me on the table, leaning back to back with me. “But, alright, spoke way more than enough about my personal life, and then some. What’s this about Mana having a crush?” I managed to deflect attention from me (finally!) and the rest of the picnic went without a hitch. And for those interested, Mana, despite his protests, definitely had a crush on a black-furred wolf girl who ran cross-country with him; she was going out with a tiger on the track team, though. Sol was tight-lipped about anyone she had a crush on.
Eventually, though, Thal called to get us to come back; whether it was a set-up thing Zav hadn’t told me about or there was an actual reason for it, I wasn’t sure. But I welcomed it nonetheless. All my pent-up anxiety had evaporated and left me giddy at first, but now I really wanted to cuddle with Zav and Gwyn. Though, first came the quick test about the whole ‘mythic’ factor. Which, at least without surprised to me, it turned out I reacted nearly as strong as a dragon’s own factor did. Dammit; that meant I’d have to go get more proper tests. Wyrn did at least offer his lab, though. Zav looked apologetic for a moment before I gave an annoyed huff and kissed him (which made Mana groan and Sol giggle). Apparently Aeltia’s talk with Zav’s parents went well enough, too, even if she’d excused herself early due to a similar call. On our way back, Gwyn vid-called her own parents and I got to say hi while introducing them to Zav. And I apologized for not being more forthcoming about my gender when younger; they’d understood, though. And they were the ones who brought up kits, which made Gwyn just hang up with a yelp out of both of us.
“Wow, I didn’t expect them to go right for that!” She whined. “S-sorry, guys.”
“I mean, we both seem to have a breeding fetish, so…” Zav teased and I wrapped my hand around his muzzle. “What? She’d find out eventually.” It’s not like I held it closed, but he did manage to talk through his teeth anyways.
“So you weren’t joking last night?” She hmmed, leaning against me.
“I mean, I should be able to control myself. But did we really want to take the risk?” I muttered, kissing the top of her head.
“It’s not like we’re guaranteed~” Oh gods, this vixen… I nipped at her ear when she laughed. I got a text from Thal, though, and pulled my phone out of my bag.
“I figured you guys needed bailing out; we do have a meeting tomorrow morning anyways. Hope it went well?” I sent her a reply (a bowing-in-thanks bunny sticker and a thumbs-up emoji).
“Well she’s getting more friendly with you. Guess showing you her stream was a good thing?” Gwyn said.
“Oh, that’s what you were talking about? Yeah, she’s… super stand-offish until you find it. She’s really into showing off. And watching others. It’s that first one that would make us a little incompatible in the long run.” Zav said.
“I figured, hun. Honestly not sure how I’d feel about it myself given how recognizable I am.” I sighed. “I mean, maybe if we managed to keep my head off screen. And my feet.”
“Oooh, yeah, could see that working~!” Delia said. Zav wrapped his wing protectively against the husky. “Maybe with a loose shirt on, too. Disguise… wait, no, that probably wouldn’t work… I think if someone saw her cam and then you streaming with us…”
“Oh, yeah, I look nothing like Nic.”
“I mean, we could play it off as a random fox, but that wouldn’t stop the rumors.” Gwyn said, her fingers sliding into my hand and between mine.
“Can we wait until we get home to talk about my partner with other women?” Zav groaned; we just laughed, but did give him a break. At least until we got to the property, proper.
“So… what are you gonna do, Gwyn?” I asked; she just looked at me with a tilt of her head. “Your heat?”
“Oh!” She and Zav both blushed. I rolled my eyes and Delia laughed. “Well… what do you think I should do~?” She wiggled her hips. Zav let out a snort and swatted her rear with his tail, making her yelp.
“Ugh, after last night… and today… I really wanna say heat risk be damned and I rut you silly all night. And love our kits when they probably come out~” Gwyn giggled, but she wasn’t running away; she was actually grinning. “But there’s a small voice saying wait until after the bio tests tomorrow.” The vixen whined but nodded.
“That’s fair… we should really know what I’ll be getting into.” Gwyn sighed. “What if Zav made you like… hyper virile or something~? I could get bigger than Delia here~” The husky barked in challenge before slipping inside, after giving me a kiss good night.
“I mean, you do seem to be a bit more productive.” Zav said with a chuckle. I shook my head.
“Pretty sure I’m just getting better at letting it build up~ Though I swear you’re getting more productive, Mister!” I hrumphed. “I’m gonna need Gwyn’s help to keep up.”
“And I’m starting to need her help to wear you out!” Gwyn giggled.
“If you want to stay here tonight, though, Gwyn… I’m fairly certain my room’ll be free.”
“Nah, if it does start, I should probably be at my apartment.” She thought for a moment before she gave Zav a kiss, her hand running along his neck and then his chest. The dragon’s wings flared in surprise and I fought the urge to giggle. And then the vixen gave me one, too, our tongues dancing together before she finally pulled free and started walking. Part of me wanted to walk her home, but she stopped me: tomorrow was shaping up to be a long day and if I wanted to get enough sleep… Okay, yeah, she had a point. I did have a horny dragon on my paws, a fact he was more than eager to prove late into the night. Hey, probably for the best the bio-test be done the day after I get pumped full, right~? And not sure who, between the two of us, got more worked up with him teasing me about breeding Gwyn.
The meeting in the morning turned out to be a breakfast-to-lunch meeting, with mostly the different leads talking about what they could and couldn’t do. Nsiarina (who did finally tell me to just call her Sia) was mine and Delia’s lead, but she did defer to us for some details while she talked with Jayadev who seemed to focus on the mechanics and actual gameplay. Thal, attending via teleconference, and Zav conferred with Thie, the admittedly cute, brown furred rabbit, and Aeltia about the setting they should do, given the rabbit was our environmental artist and Aeltia was the character designer. We ironed out the general details: it would be a week or so before Sia sent us actual assignments. They did warn me that I’d get stuck with a lot of higher-level work: Delia was a couple of months out from birth by now and they didn’t want to stress her out before or after (at least for too long).
After lunch, Zav and I went with Delia and Alrac to Wyrn’s lab. I told Zav he could stay and work on drafts for the game’s story, but he was adamant about coming, particularly since Gwyn did text to say she wouldn’t be joining (with a flame and heart emoji, so… yeah, good thing we didn’t spend the night together). Delia’s check-up was… much more of a procedure than I had thought. I whined but she just gave me a kiss before going with some technicians. Apparently they needed to test some sort of fluid to get an idea of if there was any factor. For me, Wyrn took my blood, but…
“Ideally, given your nature, we should get your semen as well.” He said, offering me a cup. I squeaked and hid behind Zav’s wing. “I know, but if want to see if this whole ‘mythic’ factor can now be transferred from you to others…” He had done some quick research and it seemed hit or miss from other studies (though more hit than miss). And I did ask if my kits would inherit it regardless of if Zav was the father or not (through a heavy blush); it did seem like that was probable. Particularly if he kept mating me while pregnant. To Wyrn’s credit, he was very professional about explaining all this (and promised my father wouldn’t hear of it; I wasn’t sure if that case would ever happen, anyways). Zav took the cup and gave my head a kiss. “Our exam room is soundproof, if that helps.” Wyrn motioned with his wing towards a door I had thought was a closet. I did guess we were more in the lab than an actual examination room.
“… Fine, just how much do you need?” I muttered; I tried to take the cup from Zav but he kept it away from me.
“I mean, as much as you can?” I laughed. “Or at least half the container would be ideal?” He said with a slight frown; it wasn’t that large a container after all. He seemed to have gotten the wrong idea, though.
“It’s fine, really.” Zav said for me, pulling me into the exam room.
“Zav, you can’t knot me in here~” I whined as he motioned for me to sit on the exam table and started working my pants and underwear off with a kiss.
“I know, love. I’ll save that for tonight~ Or tomorrow~” I blinked and tilted my head, though let him push me up on the table a bit more. He kissed down my body and I squeaked, my head resting back as I realized what my dragon was going to do to me~ The thought of that tongue diving into me (which, admittedly, was rare; I hadn’t exactly needed any help getting ready for him… or help getting to release) made my arousal kick into overdrive: I felt my sheath filling out while my folds pulsed quivered.
What really made me squeak, though? Zav’s tongue dove into my swelling, sensitive sheath and wrapped around my pale foxhood, squeezing against me in a way that definitely let me know this wasn’t his first time doing something similar. My toes curled and I moaned out as he started to suckle on me; I felt a claw talon slip beneath my orbs and push into me as well. “Z-Zav!” I groaned out, hips bucking when the pleasures shot up my spine and down my tail at the same time. My fox cock shot out of my sheath and into his muzzle as I pulled my legs up and my fingers curl into that thin paper on doctor’s exam tables, tearing it. My partner pulled his muzzle off with a slurp and a kiss right beneath my tip. And grabbed some paper towels while I calmed down a little from the surprise. He cleaned off my length of his saliva with a kiss to my stunned nose. “W-What was that?”
“I mean, have I ever said I didn’t like you were a herm?” He chuckled. “Granted, I think we both enjoy how we’ve been up to this point, but I do love all of you, Kai.” I drew him in for a kiss. “I’m still going to be the only one giving, though.” He rumbled.
“Oh, fat chance of that, I’m gonna get a mouthful of you eventually~” I smirked, tail brushing against his shorts covered groin. I knew he meant on top, but I was curious what he’d feel like in my muzzle properly. He hadn’t exactly needed help either, after all. He made me squeak, again, when his talon slipped between my folds; this time a second one joined. I squeezed down on him, thankful my partner kept his claws fairly blunt, while he started to pump them in and out, exploring me while he maneuvered to sit with me in his lap. And then handed me his phone as well. I whined, but he just chuckled and showed me a text chain.
‘So you guys gonna start trying for kits soon?’ Gwyn had texted last night apparently.
‘We were talking about it, yeah; why, what’s up?’ Zav had replied… seemingly after I’d fallen asleep from exhaustion of the nerves of the day… and then our usual night-time fun. I felt a shiver run up my spine when those talons found a sweet spot inside of me; Zav was diligent while using the cup his brother had provided to catch the pre his fingers worked out of me.
‘I mean, my season is soon…’
‘Not worried about the results?’
‘_Not particularly
D’s comment about ‘comic-book level logic’ did make me realize
It’d be stupid for Kai to not know the full risks.
I really just expect the worst being she’s like dragons, now
Which, not awful!
Just more time tgt to make up for what we seem to have missed.’_ Zav rotated his wrist and managed to angle it so that his fingers grinded along my clit; fuck, he was on a mission! His other hand even gently wrapped around my just under seven inches and started to squeeze smooth scales against my sensitive, pre-and-saliva covered length. I groaned and turned to bite on his neck as well as his plates’d allow overwhelming pleasure. Dammit, he’d really learned how to press my buttons it seemed. “Keep reading, love~”
‘So you want Kai to help with your season?’
‘_Both of you; ur a pkge deal, after all! Though, this time…
I’d rather the litter not be mixed
Not a dealbreaker?’_
‘Not at all; I get it’ There was a cute sticker of a dragon with manga-style nodding lines. And then a message from him about three minutes later. ‘Wait, has Kai not… mentioned anything?’
‘Like what?’
‘About me physically?’
‘_Not really
A vague comment about how messy you can be’_ I yelped; my attention on the text chain making my climax sneak up on me, my walls convulsing around my partner’s finger while my length throbbed and jumped in his squeezing hand; he quickly let go and caught my release in the cup. I almost huffed, in disappointment, when I saw even this single release was enough. He eased me onto the table on my back to keep reading while he cleaned his hands and took the sample out. I was… fairly glad to have the rest of this to read, admittedly: I did not want to think about my partner’s brother running tests of that particular material.
Granted, the next thing to read was more of a ‘to see’: it was a photo of me snuggled up to him, my own mess still on my fur and his belly; he’d angled me while I slept to really show just how much of his own cum he could put into me. He also sent the photo Delia had taken of us.
‘! ! ! Wait, how is she not a huge mess?!’
‘Some… practice. Walking’s still difficult after, though, apparently.’
‘!’ It was a few minutes later before Gwyn messaged again. ‘Whelp, yeah, seeing & reading that put me in heat. She’s not that hung, right?’
‘No; You two didn’t last night?’
‘_Way too nervous about meeting your parents
And trying to figure out why sending Ael to you didn’t bother as much as she thought it would.’_ Dammit, Gwyn, I hadn’t wanted him to know that! I was still trying to figure that one out.
‘It bothered her?’
‘_Apparently not last night. She came out of nowhere!
She gave Ael very specific, firm orders after encouraging didn’t work via text
Like, called, said the orders, hung up, and nearly threw her phone off the bed’_
‘So ‘Mistress Foxtail?’ and ‘seed her womb’?’
‘All Kai!’ I groaned when Zav came back in. “Oh, get to the bit about Aeltia?” He asked, taking his phone back. “It sorta dies out after that… at least until this:” He showed me a selfie pin-up photo of Gwyn in her own bed, in just her fur, with her tail raised but her thigh hiding her folds; I could just make out her fur soaked with her heat’s lust. And she was staring at the camera with half-lidded eyes. ‘If she wants kits, let me know~’
“Sorry for not telling you about Aeltia and me feeling bothered by it…” I said, my ears falling back. “And… damn, I want that photo.” He was tapping on his phone while I got redressed… with some difficulty. The underwear maybe tailored for herms to be comfortable… but not when they were fully out of sheath like I was.
“Yeah, what were you feeling bothered about?” He looked at me with a raised eyebrow.
“That’s the thing, I don’t know! Like, at first I thought I was just disappointed someone else would be getting pumped full.” I was… only slightly joking at that; I had actually grown to enjoy that feeling quite a bit~ “But after I did the whole order thing… I realized even that idea didn’t bother me, at all… if I was there or had told Aeltia to earn it or something.”
“Oh~? Sounds like maybe you want to hold a leash as much as I do~” Zav drew me out of my mopiness with a kiss. “A shame, you would look really cute with a collar.”
“Oh, I’m pretty sure I’d still wear yours, too~” I murred, rubbing his chest. “But yeah, I guess it does sound like that, huh? I never really thought of myself that way. Granted, only in my wildest fantasies did I have a loving, nerdy dragon as a partner or as many friends-with-benefits as I seem to, now.” I felt my tail swaying in a lazy, content way. “Or, apparently my best friend wanting my kit already…”
“Huh, okay, so maybe I should’ve let you keep reading.” Zav said; I furrowed my brow. “I just guessed she would’ve said something earlier.” He handed me back to the phone, tapping the relevant message chain.
‘_I know it’s way early in figuring all this out,
but we wouldn’t be the first to have kids so early
and not have a mateship if it doesn’t work out.
I know Kai wouldn’t abandon us; I’ve got Glacé as well.
Never thought about wanting to being a mother
But I do love Kai; always have.
And if she wants to see me pregnant,
might as well do it herself~
Besides, might not take the first couple of seasons anyways.’_
Okay, dammit, that made me tear up (and laugh a little at those last three lines). And lean into Zav. He ran his talon along my back, carefully scratching through my fur through my shirt. “So she said nothing like that?”
“No! Ugh… dammit Dad, if he hadn’t thought of this whole thing…” I grumbled; I could guess why Gwyn hadn’t said anything. If there was something unexpected about all this, either with myself or Delia and Alrac’s cubs (for some reason it’s just easier to think of them as cubs? I get the feeling there’s a lot to unpack there with a therapist… or psychologist…), I would definitely shut down. Like… implode at this point. I would still love Zav, of course! But I would be worried about growing angry if it turned out I couldn’t make healthy litters of my own with Gwyn (or Delia; all her teasing had put that in my head often enough). “You think Wyrn’s done testing yet?”
“Hmm, maybe. He did say he’d knock when he was ready for us if we didn’t come out, so it shouldn’t take too long.” He said. “I’d ask if you just wanted to run to Gwyn’s to throttle her or get started, but…” I smiled weakly; I did appreciate he wanted to joke right now, at least. “Yeah, I figured. It will be alright love; if something is up, I’m sure your parents’ll help out.” That made my ears heat up. It was in the Omni team’s wheelhouse (and, technically, their contract as continued support for the children born of the product), but, well, the idea of going to my parents to basically say ‘hey, help me knock up girls’ was embarrassing. He helped me off the table. And hey, bright-side of all this worrying: I was back in my sheath again!
When we opened the door, Wyrn was just getting out of his seat to come get us. “So, first: Delia’s children are fine. Well, there is some exposure to the whole ‘mythic’ factor, but it’s unclear how much of that is you and how much of that is Zav, apparently.” My ears twitched. “And Alrac shows no signs of having it.”
“So…?”
“Yep, not sure if congratulations are in order, but you’re definitely a carrier of it. Like… on par with a dragon or a phoenix.” I whined; a whole other set of problems to worry about now! “Of course, this will all be kept as confidential as we can, though your parents’ team will have access. That a hybrid and a hermaphrodite’s system can adapt to carry it is probably good data for their current project. I mean, we can’t very well pimp out dragons or you as part of the Omni treatment, but still.”
“So… does it work just like normal then? And what does that mean for any kids we have?” Zav asked.
“I mean, without further testing… hard to say with any certainty. But your kids, together, should be like dragons mating together or with a phoenix or qilin. I’m sure I’m forgetting some.” Gryphons were the odd ones out in that they didn’t have this ‘mythic’ factor among the various ‘magical beasts’ species. “As for Kai being the father, if you’ll forgive the term… I would assume it would be normal like if Zav was in that regard. Not as strong, in particular, but it would be present. Of course, we would be interested in purely voluntary tests, but we also wouldn’t want to stress Gwyn out, either.” I squeaked and huffed. “Assuming, of course.” I mean, he wasn’t wrong, but still.
“Alright, thanks Wyrn. It’s… mildly easier discussing this with you. Dad gets… weird about it. Plus, well, he’s my dad.” I said with a sigh. “And future reference, ‘sire’ is a little more applicable. If you’re going to be writing a paper about this.” The green dragon did have the grace to blush; I wasn’t naive: I knew a lab wouldn’t be doing this entirely for free, even if I was his brother’s partner.
“I’ll keep that in mind, thanks. Uh… would you prefer to be known as Foxtail in such a paper? I feel like ‘Subject Foxtail’ would play better and be a little more anonymous than ‘Subject K’ or ‘Subject D'aureville’.” He asked. Zav growled a bit but I kissed his chin.
“Relax, hun, it’s just how they keep it professional and clinical.” Wyrn quickly nodded. “And… yeah. I mean, it’ll be impossible to hide either way until there are more like me. But Foxtail does sound a lot better than either of those. Besides, ‘D’aureville’ will probably be changing eventually.” I would have to brace myself for the various tabloids, of course, trying to run some story with ‘cute first gen hybrid is a herm!’ headlines, but pretty sure Gwyn’s own impeding pregnancy would have me in there anyways. “Ugh, now that I’m thinking about it… I really should get ahead of it all, shouldn’t I?”
“Ahead of what, love?” Zav asked before I laid it out for him. “Oh… yeah, probably be a good idea. But it seems like something we’ll have to talk to Gwyn about.”
“We? I was trying to figure out how to hide my own eventual pregnancy without you getting outed, hun.” I said. “And we should probably head out. Unless there’s anything else, Wyrn?”
“Well, I mean, beyond you might be a little more virile than the average herm… or regular male.” I blinked. “But that could just be you and not related to the mythic factor at all. Bunnies are known for it and it’s not like Foxes would balance that out. I would also assume your fertility level would be higher, too.” That, I did know. And ‘mythic’ factor didn’t have an effect on either thing. But we said our goodbyes and met up with Alrac and Delia; both of whom hugged me in shared relief.
“So… returning to that earlier conversation. I don’t mind if I’m just outed as your partner or mate, hun.” Zav said; his tail curling around my waist. “Or as a writer for Gaminghouse; my name is already in the credits after all.” I explained to Alrac and Delia, then, what we were talking about. Delia did giggle.
“Oh gods, you’re right! It pretty much writes itself, doesn’t it? ‘Cute little Kai with her bunny ears and fox tail is a herm! Who knocked up the famous Glacé! And has a dragon mate herself; she’s even got the ‘mythic factor’~! Is she secretly a long lost kitsune~?” Delia laughed. Alrac even chuckled a bit. I groaned and Zav hugged me with his wing; I could hear him chuckling quietly, though.
“Most of which is your fault by the way!” I (jokingly) angrily retorted towards the pregnant husky. That only made her and Alrac laugh harder.
“’And get this, they all play Spellslinger together in the same guild without knowing it!’” Alrac rumbled. Even Zav groaned at that one.
“Ugh, leave that part out. I like my character in there and the privacy she creates. Mostly; it is amazing how many still try to ERP with me even in a game like that. I could get a more traditional MMO, but come on.” He made a face.
“Oh I usually-” My phone suddenly buzzed and I took it out. “Literally set those guys… on… fire…”
‘_You two coming home soon or what?
Bring dinner. And sports drinks.’_
And… hello, insanely lewd photo of my favorite vixen: she was on her back in her fur, one hand spreading open heated, drooling, faintly spaded folds while she licked what was clearly her own heat off her other hand. With a look that clearly said ‘come get some:’ half-lidded silvery-blue bedroom eyes looking at me from just over her sizable chest (I had finally determined they were C-cups) and a playful, challenging smile. And, once I could register what I was seeing, and got past the whole sheath-filling-folds-drooling-fantasy of Zav ontop of us both while we worked on making that litter: “Is that my bed!?”
Zav looked over my shoulder and laughed. “Seems like, hun. I did text her with the news. And your parents, though they just got an ‘all’s good’ text.” Delia and Alrac tried to sneak a peak (I mean, they could probably smell my own arousal; I was picking up on Zav’s, too), but I quickly turned my photo dark and stuck my tongue out at them.
