I Love You Like...
Here's my attempt at constructing an Italian (Petrarchan) sonnet in iambic pentameter.
I hope you enjoy!
I love you like the flowers love the rain,
Like werewolves as they gather for the moon;
Like kitties love a lazy afternoon,
And how knights love to see a monster slain.
I love you like a gangster loves his chain,
Like wild cacti love the sandy dune;
Like rich men who were born with silver spoon
Love to sip Dom Perignon champagne.
Countless are the ways which to display it,
Countless still in which to prove it true;
I am not sure the best way to explain it,
Honestly, I haven't got a clue.
I do know one thing, and just how to say it:
My life won't be worth living without you.
I love you.
