Revival Of Eternity CH 9

Spyro woke to his mate's light snoring, he looked over at her and sighed. No amount of time will ever get him used to the look of her sleeping face. He looked around the quant room they spent the night in, and felt his stomach rumble. Layla had told them to meet them in the royal lounge when they got up, he hoped they would have food. Cynder mumbled happily, smacking her lips slightly, making Spyro chuckle a little. He lowered his head and nuzzled her snout, when she didn't move, Spyro started licking her cheeks. She giggled and opened her eyes, then cringed as the light hit them.
“Ugh, my head." She groaned.
“How much did you drink, you seemed fine." Spyro asked her.
“I drank a lot, but I have to drink a lot more before I start to get tipsy." Cynder smiled “That doesn't count for the hangover though."
Spyro got up and stretched, his back cracked in multiple places. Cynder followed, and kissed him. They nuzzled for a bit, before they stepped out of the room and made their way to the lounge. When they arrived, they found four guards standing next to the door. They nodded and opened the door for them. The lounge was filled with nice cushions and even a large table filled with food. Spyro looked around and saw Camry laying on his back on one of the cushions, and Layla was reading some papers on the table, she looked up at them and smiled.
“Good morning." Spyro called to them.
“Mhm, don't remind me." Camry groaned
“Drank too much?" Cynder asked.
“Yeah." Camry grunted.
Spyro walked up to the table and grabbed some of the food. Layla smiled and set down the paper she had in her paws.
“How did you two sleep?" She asked
“We were fine, but there was a lot of loud noises out in the halls." Cynder answered
“Yeah, I had to order the guards to send everyone to bed." Layla chuckled.
Spyro sat down, and Cynder joined him. They ate and chatted for a while before Layla was called to other duties. Camry groaned and kissed her before she left, then sighed and got up.
“So… we heard you are participating in the egg year." Cynder turned to him.
He blushed and smiled brightly. “Yeah, I was going to arrange to move to Faun, and get a portal set up to our house, so we can do what Flame and Ember are doing."
“Your kids are going to be cute." Cynder smirked.
He blushed more, and looked away. His smile was bright and proud.
“Are you joining as well?" He asked
“We are, hopefully it will start after Michael resurrects our parents." Spyro answered.
“When will that happen?" Camry turned back to them.
“Hopefully, by the time we get back from Providence, Michael will already have finished collecting all the ingredients needed." Cynder told him.
“How long will you be gone?" Camry picked up some water and sipped at it.
“Only a week, but it takes some planning because there are some ancient evils on that planet." Spyro explained.
Camry nodded, then winced and rubbed his forehead, before laying back on the couch and placing a cold cloth over his face. They hung out for a while before leaving and walking into the main mess hall. Spyro spotted the rest of the group huddled around the table, everybody except for flame was eating. He seemed tired, and was gripping a cup tightly while staring into space. Spyro and Cynder joined them at the table, smiling at the group.
“Hi" Aura greeted them.
Cynder gave her a confused look. “I watched you drink like, three bottles of wine."
“Ethereal being." She explained. “it takes a lot more to mess with me now."
A letter appeared over Michael's head, he snatched it an read it quickly.
“We need to go." He said to his mate. “An army of lions has formed on a faraway planet."
“Lions? Aren't we allies with felines?" Spyro asked.
“Not everywhere, Aura, Sam, stay here." He turned to them.
They nodded, and Michael, Bea, and Trice vanished. The rest of the group talked for a while, before everybody packed up and prepared to leave. Spyro and Cynder walked into the throne room, and found Camry laying asleep, he was curled around his mate on the throne. Layla smiled at them when they arrived.
“On your way I'm guessing?" She asked
“Yeah, it's time for us to start preparing for our journey, we'll come by when we return, and meet you guys at your new house." Cynder told her.
“Goodbye then, enjoy your adventure." She replied.
They walked out of the room, and joined the others in the city's main square. Spyro opened a portal and everybody stepped through it into the familiar landscape of their square.
Michael stepped out of a treeline, walking towards the center of a large open prairie. There was a massive, heavily armored army of lions, and the leader of them was in the middle, waiting for the black dragon to reach them. Michael eventually stopped, and the leader joined him, they were out of earshot of the lion army.
“Hello, praise the ancesters." The king raised his hands and clasped them together towards the sky.
Michael huffed. “What is it that you want, it's clearly not resources, because your armies look pretty big."
“This is but a small fraction of our power." The king replied. “We want the entire system."
Michael recoiled, stunned. “What? There are four other hospitable planets in this system. Hundreds of thousands of people live there, we can't just move all those people."
“Our kingdom has grown to a size that demands an expansion, and you will supply it, or face my armies." The king replied
Michael laughed. “You think you can beat me?"
“You would be a fool to challenge my formidable army with your pitiful one." The king snarled
Michael looked behind him, there was nothing there, he turned back to him with a confused expression.
“What do you know of my armies?" Michael asked with a raised eyebrow.
“I know they are stretched too thin while defending all of your territory, and that what weak forces you can scramble together are hiding in those trees."
“And that's why were here, you think that it wouldn't be worth it for me to defend my planets here."
“Exactly, one system is all we ask, we will forever leave you alone after that."
“No."
“No? You dare refuse us?"
“I dare, I gave you this whole planet, and in your greed, you now ask for more. You will receive none of anything you demand of me. There are no armies in those woods, because there doesn't need to be, my forces can mobilize in minutes if need be."
The king snorted. “We have mastered the art of war, each one of our soldiers are trained with the highest of standards. They received the best of armor and weapons. Our swords will pierce your armor and scales like lava through ice. You will lose twenty soldiers to our one."
Michael growled. “What do you know of my soldiers, each one of them is clad with ethereal gold, your sharpest of swords won't even scratch them. Stand down, you insolent fool, before I destroy you."
An insect-like dragon landed next to them.
“Oh, did I mention we also have allies from another dimension." The king smirked.
“What is your kind doing here, you are not welcome in this dimension, or the cell for that matter." Michael growled at the insect dragon.
It chirped. “My queen left her weak, lesser siblings to come here, and fight for her own territory. She has already birthed an army in the hundreds of thousands."
“We have promised them a planet to themselves." The king added.
Michael growled. “You bring death to all who follow you. My armies are on their way, and they will slay the queen, their species does not belong here."
The insect dragon growled and tried to lunge, but was stopped when his eyes rolled to the back of his head, then he relaxed and regarded Michael with a different gaze.
“Hello there, you must be Michael." It spoke.
“Why are you here?" Michael replied.
“I left the weak and inferior queens and traveled here. You do not want to challenge me."
“Oh, but I do, I cannot let you remain in this dimension, I already have to deal with other ancient evils, and wish not to have to waste more resources on you and your spawn." Michael growled. “I will give you one chance; leave the way you came or die, swiftly."
A large flock of the insect dragons joined the army, they were growling and pacing, eager for a fight.
“You do not want to face me." Michael warned.
The insect dragon huffed. “You shall not oppose me, weakling, you will be the one who dies."
Michael smiled, and vanished, causing both the remaining people to look around with confused faces. Suddenly, there was a large series of thumps, and fortresses appeared. Portals opened on the ground, and hundreds of dragons and wolves rushed through each one. The insect dragon paled, and the king watched in sullen silence.
Spyro laughed as Cynder rushed through the markets, buying many items for the trip.
“We're only going to be gone a week." Spyro told her.
“I want us to be comfortable, and you to be relaxed the whole time." She replied.
“Why do we need a large cushion?" He asked
“Where do you expect us to sleep?" Cynder replied.
Spyro chuckled. “On the ground?"
Cynder laughed, and shook her head. She pulled out some gold and used it to pay for some food.
She leaned over and whispered in his ear. “It's not just for sleeping."
Spyro turned beet red, and nodded passively. They finished shopping and flew back to the square, Michael was standing there, waiting for them.
“What happened to the army of lions?" Spyro asked him.
“They were allied with a colony of insect dragons, which I need to find the breach they came through. Also, we have received word that there might be a nest of eldritch terrors somewhere on this planet, and it is likely that a group of civilians will find it." Michael told them. “Trice is probably tearing though the lion and insect-dragon armies as we speak."
They nodded and chose not to question him further.
“I want you to meet my other daughter, Sophia, she is here with her mate Jack, and her hatchling, May." Michael spoke.
He turned and motioned at someone, then a black dragoness and a grey dragon walked out of an alley. The dragoness stopped in front of them and pulled something off of her back and set it on the ground. She opened her paws and revealed a small black hatchling, it looked around with wide eyes and regarded everyone with a curious gaze. Bea walked out of the house and smiled at the hatchling, which cooed and stumbled over to her. Bea gasped and caught the young female, which embraced her in a hug. Cynder nearly exploded at the sheer cuteness of the situation. After the hatchling broke off the hug, she turned around and walked up to the two young adults watching her. She smiled at Cynder, who felt her heart explode with joy and lowered her head to greet the little dragon. May chirped and nuzzled Cynder's snout for a moment, Spyro could feel her purr and pulse with happiness. Then May looked over at him, she regarded his scales for a moment, then her scales slowly turned into the same color. Michael laughed and raised his eyebrow at her.
“She likes you two." He told her.
Spyro lowered his head next to Cynder's and they both nuzzled May, she chirped happily at the affection, smiling brightly. Sophia watched as her daughter ran around and played with the two bigger dragons, then turned back to Michael.
“And where is Junior? I thought he was supposed to be here?" She asked him.
“He's lazing his way over, you know how he is, I think he's studying how living near these powerful magical items affects certain species over time." Michael rolled his eyes.
Another black dragon landed next to them and nuzzled Bea.
“You talking about me?" He asked.
“As a matter of fact, we were!" Sophia laughed. “Speak of the devil."
Junior noticed Spyro and Cynder playing with May, and smiled. Aura and Sam joined them and watched the playing dragons.
“Hey sis." Junior greeted Aura.
“Junior! It's about time you showed up." She smiled “You missed my mating and my ascension."
Junior smiled at Sam. “Welcome to the family, I know you won't, but, if you hurt my sister, I will tear your scales off one by one."
His unchanging smile and tone made Sam shiver.
“They're Dracios Elementia, that won't happen." Michael cuckled.
“I know, I know." Junior laughed.
“So, how much did you get?" He asked his son.
“I got all but like, two things, which I could find no trace off." Junior answered.
“It's fine, we'll find them by the end of the week, your help sped things along greatly." Michael replied.
May squealed in joy as Spyro blew a light blast of cold air towards her. She copied his move and coated him with a light dusting of snow. She laughed as he shook the snow off his head. They traded ice blasts for a little bit, May squealed and barreled through the snow piles that Spyro made. Cynder stepped back and sighed at them.
“He's going to be a great dad." Sophia smiled at her.
“I'm still more worried about me than him, he is more of a natural, while I can't really interact with children. I know I will have better instincts when I have my own, but I worry that I won't be able to really be able to raise them, and with my past, they might hate me, or suffer because of me, or… something else." Cynder looked down.
“Your children will be royals, and will be respected as the children of a purple dragon, the worst they will receive is insults. They won't hate you, when you're their mother. Your children will be your own experience, you will learn quickly, and will adapt to your own experiences. Everything changes when you become a mother, for both you and Spyro. He will act so different, that you will think he will be possessed. But you will be able to be confident and calm, and you will no longer doubt yourself." Sophia told her.
“Your past must not affect you; it will hurt your mate more than yourself. Let it slide, and accept when your children get insulted because of you, you can not change children, it will happen, and they will defend themselves. They will be royals, and must be respected as such." Bea added
“I don't know how I could just accept that." Cynder sighed.
“You must, they will not last long though, and will be grown out of." Bea replied.
She turned back to the two purple dragons, and smiled. “He's so cute with kids, and very good at it too."
Sophia smiled. “His kind heart is the cause of that."
“I sometimes worry that I might cut my children with my blades, I think I have to get some covers for them." Cynder replied.
“Nope, they will instinctively know you, and your blades, they are the only children that can be safe around them. Some of them will have the blades as well, and they are more dangerous. Not to themselves though, but to their siblings. It only takes them a few weeks to get used to it though. Don't cover your blades, be careful, but don't cover them, your children will want to know you by the way you truly are." Bea told her. “Your beauty, uninterrupted, and pure, is what they want, it's their instincts."
Cynder smiled and blushed at the compliment, then Sophia called to her daughter, who stumbled over to her and nuzzled her. She picked up her daughter and put her on her back, then smiled at them and walked into Michael's house. Spyro walked back to his mate and nuzzled her a bit. Then they both walked into their house.
