Hello everyone,

Well, here's the first story in the Cryptid Center series. The start of Pliv's experience as the Blight.

Technically the prologue is just the retelling of "The Subject" series I did over on F.A. but told more from Pliv's POV. But the following chapters afterwards are completely new.

Anyways, enjoy!

Rated mature for some, very, dark themes. But all characters are 18 years or older.

Prologue

I stumbled out of the shipping container, clutching the side of my torso, my vision

blurred by my tears. Soft grunts and cries of pain coming from my clenched teeth. My ear aching

from the tag that my captors pierced on me. A collection of large tumors growing on my back,

turning every step into agonizing pain. A trail of yellow liquid following behind me that had

coated the makeshift surgical room that I escaped from.

The medical gown that I was wearing offered little to no protection against the cold

breeze that encased the docks. The sky was a thick layer of black, with no stars or moon insight.

The only light came from the street and security lights.

I tried to yell out for help, only for the pain to shoot through me. After I took a few steps

I fell to the ground, crying out, trying to get help.

“Well, well, well," said a voice. I looked up to see a black and white rabbit in a two piece

suit and tie. “Looks like you're still alive."

“H-Help… me," I said, trying to reach out, seeing the tumors starting to grow on my

arms and hands. The rabbit walked towards me, looking at me with his red eyes, and smirked.

“Shut it, meat," said the rabbit. “KP thirteen m… Oh yeah, the alien sample. Well, I

guess you probably want answers before you croak huh? What happened to you? Who am I? All

that? Hell, can you even remember your own name?"

I couldn't even recall that at that moment, but I didn't care. I just wanted help.

“H-H-He… Help," I managed to spurt out, spitting up more of the yellow liquid.

“Jeeze kid, didn't your parents tell you not to talk with your mouth open?" Asked the

rabbit. “But yeah, all that doesn't matter. Given the rest of what the lab boys showed with the

other samples, and how far gone you are. You have… what? Five, six minutes tops? And don't

try to call for help or say some usual 'You won't get away with this' bullshit that comes from

everyone. You're not the first to go like this, and you won't be the last. But I'll leave you with

this: This goes all the way to the top. Not some petty ice bath criminal syndicate shit. This…

This is a government collaboration of a few different countries and then some."

My heart sank to my stomach, as my eyes burnt with tears and rage. I managed one last

insult; spitting some of the yellow liquid on him. I hit him, right between the eyes.

“Fucking rude," said the rabbit, wiping the liquid of with his sleeve. He kicked me in the

ribs, sending me onto my back, pressing the tumors into me.

“Those five minutes are up now because of that. Now, fuck off," said the rabbit. He

brought his foot up above my head, and then slammed it down on my neck. I felt the air leave my

lungs from the impact, as things started to go dark.

I dreamt that I was right behind the rabbit, seeing him stand in front of a giant yellow

glowing ball.

“Well, he's dead at least," said the rabbit. “Fucking hell, so much for this shit being

simple." He pulled out his phone as I grew, getting taller and taller, almost eye level with him.

“Hey, Chessboard, this is Rook. Target is secured but… small issue…" said the rabbit.

“Nothing that can't be handled. Subject went into full encasement and is held to the ground by

some kind of solid root system or something. Requesting back up… The fuck?"

“Sorry meat, I can't let that happen," I said.

“He's going to get it," said a voice in my head.

“Alright, who are you and what's your angle?" Asked the rabbit, turning to face me.

“Criminals, local police, enemies of… what the fuck?"

“He figured it out," said a second voice in my head.

“This is going to be good," said the first.

“Yeah, no, can't let you take the Master away," I said. “And yeah, I mean the wolf,

Rook… or should I say Charley?"

“Charley? Who the fuck is Charley?" I asked in my head.

“It's the rabbit's real name," said the second voice.

“Y-You can hear me?" I asked.

“Well yeah, we are you after all," said the first voice.

“We'll explain later," said the second voice.

“Charles Tali Montogmery," I said in the dream. “Middle name coming from your

mother wanting a girl. Of course, you never were the daughter she wanted? And your dead beat

dad out of the picture, there was a pressure to be the man of the house, and to be the daughter

your mother wanted. Wearing dresses in secret until ten, dropped out of school at sixteen to work

for her… Is that why you always ask for pictures of the target? Because you can't read their

names? I mean, we both know you cheated on the tests to get into the W.U.S.S."

“S-Shut… up," said the rabbit, reaching into his jacket.

“Ah, c'mon Charley," I said, rushing him. I grabbed him by the neck, lifting him up and

slamming him against the container wall.

“You're getting messy," I said. “Can't even remember your chest holster for your gun.

Hell, you picked up the forty-five recently just to hit hard enough for any… nosey individuals." I

saw his hand shift inside of his jacket, and pull out a pistol, firing it into me.

“Oh, fuck!" I yelled in my head.

“Relax, he's fine," said the second voice.

“Hey, we almost done yet?" Asked the first voice.

“I think we got a few more minutes," said the second voice.

“W-What are you…?" I asked.

“Yeah, nice try, but no dice," I said in the dream. I ripped the gun out of his hand in the

dream, tossing it into the water. I felt the wound heal up, as the yellow liquid came out of my

hand, encasing the rabbit.

“W-Who…" said the rabbit, struggling to get free.

“Awww, c'mon now Charley. You haven't figured it out yet? How I know everything

about you?" I asked. “I. Am. You. Just one that's loyal to the Master. But otherwise, all your

memories, all your thoughts… all the government clearances. All the same. Even down to the

DNA and retinas that can be tracked by any tools. A perfect clone, from head to tone. The only

problem that I have is… the original is still around. So, sorry to be an echo, but now, fuck off."

The rabbit melted into a pool of the yellow liquid, falling to my feet, absorbing into the

yellow sphere.

“Ohhhh, that feels good," said the first voice.

“More for the growth," said the second voice.

“W-Who are you?" I asked in my head.

“We're you," said the first voice. “And you, are us… I think that's how it's said?"

“Close enough," said the second voice.

“Hey, Chessboard, are you still there?" I asked the in dream.

“Yes, Rook, please repeat your message, you were breaking up for a bit," said a female

voice on the phone.

“Copy, some kind of solar flare," I said with a smirk. “Disregard the reinforcements.

Target was abducted by unknown forces. I took fire but I'm unharmed. Wasn't able to get any of

them either. I'll R.T.B. to track them down."

“Copy Rook, be careful. We'll put out a B.O.L.O. on them. Chessboard out," said the

female voice. I hung up and walked over to the sphere, kneeling in front of it.

I awoke suddenly to the feeling of something cracking above me. It felt like I was being

hatched from an egg, feeling it slowly crumble around me. I felt free enough to stand up, the pain

finally gone, my head feeling lighter and my vision feeling zoomed out. Like a wider field of

view. A bright yellow light stretching out a few feet into the darkness from me.

“Morning, Master," said a voice. My head spun around, my body standing still, as I saw

the rabbit from before kneeling behind me. His body was covered in a black substance that

pulsed with yellow light.

“YOU!" I yelled out, reaching out with the tentacles on my back, wrapping around his

neck and lifting him up.

“You… wait, what the fuck?" I asked, looking at the tentacle. I looked down, seeing my

back, and where the tentacle came from. It was coming from a new yellow and gray marking on

my back. I turned my body around to face the same way I was facing.

“Well, that's nice at least," said the first voice from my dream.

“It's… something," said the second voice. I suddenly realized that the two sounded

similar, and they sounded the same way I sounded in my own head. I looked at the container,

trying to find them.

“Um, over here," said the first voice. I looked directly to my left, seeing a yellow and

black wolf staring at me, and his face a gray skull. His eyes were yellow, with no white to them,

just black, that faded into the black fur around them.

“WHAT THE HELL!" I yelled out.

“Yeah… not a great introduction," said the second voice. I looked to my right seeing the

same sight as the one to my left.

“OH FUCK!" I yelled out, trying to back away from them. I tripped over backwards,

seeing the two of them floating in the air, with two large yellow necks reaching into mine.

“Um… you might want to look at your reflection," said the first head. I turned to face the

water… seeing the same skull creature staring back at me. I reached up to my face, feeling my

now yellow nails tap against the bone of my exposed skull.

My jaw dropped as a primal scream of horror came from me. What happened to me?

What did they do to me? What was I now?

“Hey, we at least don't look that bad," said the head of my left… one of my new heads.

“W-We?" I asked.

“Like we said, we are you… kinda like a hive mind thing," said my head on my right,

flying up to me. “This is going to take a while to get used to. We know."

“And it's going to be a grammatical nightmare," said the left head.

“No… No, no no…" I said, turning to the rabbit. “WHAT, WHAT DID YOU DO TO

ME!" I lashed out with more tentacles, my claws extending to long sharp blades, as I rushed him.

“You kill me, you'll never know," said the rabbit. I managed to compose myself as my

nails reached his neck, barely scratching the fur off of it. I stood there with them pressing against

his throat, daring him to speak. To say anything to piss me off more.

“Right," said the rabbit as he turned into a pool of yellow liquid. He flowed out of my

grip, sliding across the ground, and reforming near me.

“He's a clone of the real rabbit," said the right head.

“One that we can control," said the left head.

“H-How? T-The thing they injected into me?" I asked.

“Yes… I'll try to find as much dirt on them. Until then, lay low," said the rabbit. The

black material broke off of him, leaving a copy of his clothes on, as he walked off, leaving me

there with my new body.

“So um… We should find a place to stay…" said the left head after a few minutes.

“Yeah, you know, they have that closed down subway. We can go there," said the right

head.

“Yeah, I wish we could go home though. Have some creature comforts."

“But they'll look for us there. Sorry to say, but we're on the run now," said the right

head.

“...Hey, Pliv, I know this is a lot but…" said my left head.

“What did you just call me?" I asked.

“Pliv, as in Plivaous Blightren… our name," said the left head.

“He forgot, part of the shock of, well, everything," said the right head.

“It doesn't matter," I said, sitting down on the ground. “You're right, I'm being hunted

down. I can't show my face in public or else they'll find me and kill me… That means I can't go

to the hospital. I can't get the treatment I need to live."

“You mean the chemo?" Asked my left head.

“Yeah… I'm going to die of cancer… All because of… of… OF WHAT!" I yelled,

burying my face into my hands. “WHY ME?! WHAT DID I DO TO DESERVE THIS!"

“Nothing," said the left head. “You never signed up for this. And this wasn't a medical

procedure done by the hospital, or covered by insurance."

“And the cancer was kinda, nuked, when you were injected," said my right head. “I

already scanned our body."

“Why… Why me?" I asked, yellow tears coming to my eyes. “Why did I have to go to

that hospital? Why did I take that appointment? I should've done the valet parking so I didn't

walk to my car. So I couldn't have been grabbed."

“Hey, they would've grabbed you anyways. And didn't you hear Mister Right over there?

The cancer is gone," said the left head. “Look, I know, this is a lot. But we're still alive. We're

still here. Please, get up! We can't stay here."

“They'll come looking here soon enough anyways. Who knows how many more agents

are around," said the right head.

“I… I don't know," I said.

“Fine, c'mon, we got you," said my left head. I felt my body move on it's own, a tentacle

reaching into the container and grabbing my few personal possessions from inside as I walked

down to the darkness of the subway below the city.
