The Cryptid Center Part 1, The Blight, Chapter 6
Hello all,
Well, we have our happy ending right?
Though, there's never a perfectly happy ending though. There are more actors coming to play now. But stay tuned for the next parts... whenever I write them.
But either way, enjoy the second to last chapter. Before Chekhov's "Gun" goes off.
Enjoy!

Chapter 6
McLoy's POV
“Keep the scene secured. We don't know what else could be coming," I said, taking off
my gloves and walking with Sgt. Barnes. “It appeared to be a smuggling operation, yes, but
there's something else. The creature seen might not have been part of it. There's dust knocked
loose from some of the walls, meaning at least a struggle occurred. The files have been searched
through, meaning that they were looking for something, and the money was taken… likely a
theft."
“A monster stealing money? If I was him, I'd probably be looking for money to sustain
himself. Assuming basic biological needs, he'll need food, water, and shelter. Shelter could be
any abandoned building in the city, water is public and free enough through fountains but would
need something more substantial… but food," said Barnes. “Probably cheap food, can't cook,
but can't show their face. And anything additional like medicine would need money too. Unless
he took some of the meds with him that we haven't seen yet."
“Right, so their… minions? I assume. They could be getting the food for it or them.
However the multiple heads work. And the medications could have been what drew him in. Who
knows what he needs to take for his multiple head condition. How do you know so much about
all that?" I asked Barnes.
“Survival training, served in the military for a while. And yes, that's all I'm allowed to
say," said Barnes.
“Fine with me," I said, leaving the issue alone for the time. “However, if it's using the
minions to get food then… hmmmm…"
“INCOMING SHIP!" Yelled out a voice. We turned towards the water, seeing a large
fishing vessel coming towards the docs.
“Shit, incoming," said Barnes, grabbing his weapon. I drew my pistol from under my coat
and got behind cover with him, ready to hold down the position.
The ship slowly drifted towards us, an eerie yellow light coming from it's decks and
sides. If what Barnes showed me was real, then this was the work of the Blight. It had to be.
The ship slowly crawled to a stop, resting against the dock. The team surrounded it as they
prepared a ladder to board it. I approached the side with Barnes; spotting a yellow light below
the water between the dock and the ship.
“I wonder how sticky that stuff is?" I asked. “Probably enough to stop a ship this size though."
“McLoy? You good with a rifle?" Asked Barnes.
“Yeah, why?" I asked.
“Yellow light, yellow creature, you do the math," said Barnes. He was right, the Blight
could still be on the ship. Or for it to be a trap. I slowly approached behind Barnes, pistol drawn,
covering his sexy rear, as we climbed up the ship with the rest of the SWAT team.
The ship was coated in the yellow liquid, sticking to the walls like an alien horror movie.
My heart raced as we approached the bridge, opening the door to see one person stuck to a chair,
and one stuck to the wall.
“What happened here?" I asked.
“Y-Yellow, skull, monster thing. He came in and attacked us. Everyone's pinned below
deck," said the man pinned to the walls. “L-Look, we work for Cardia, I'll admit it. P-Please, just
keep us away from that thing! It's fucking… insane!"
“Is he still on board?" Asked Barnes.
“I don't know, he went below decks, I heard a loud bang, and then the ship started
moving. I-I don't know what happened after he pinned me here," said the suspect.
“Copy, Red One, Blue One, stack up. McLoy, hang back," said Barnes. I stayed back,
interrogating the suspect as the rest of the ship was cleared. I learned that it was in fact a male
since the criminal had burnt the clothes of the creature, with the ashes found in the kitchen. The
creature also spoke English, was unphased by knife wounds and bullet wounds, but was affected
by fire, and it had been confirmed that the creature did clone other individuals… making the
minions his clones.
Multiple questions burnt through my mind. Where were the other originals he had
cloned? Why attack a ship in the middle of the water? What and who is he? How could someone
survive all of that? And could we even stop him?
The SWAT team cleared the scene, finding the other suspects pinned to the walls, and
something worse. Cages full of hostages and a makeshift surgical room, all for organ harvesting.
I took a deep breath, realizing what we just got dragged into. I started to process the scene as
well, knowing how long of a day it would be.
Pliv's POV
I slowly walked up to Ralphie's with Shara by my side. The restaurant looked the same,
only with a tarp over the window that was shot out.
“Hey um… Mister… Whatever. My clones are going to be alright. Right?" Asked Shara.
“Yeah, they're at the hospitals. Probably going to find out what's up with you too," I
said, walking in the front door. I looked up, seeing Shara's mom and Ralphie standing behind the
counter.
“Mom!" Yelled out Shara, running up to her. Her mom's mouth dropped as she ran over
to her, grabbing her daughter.
“Shara, oh my, Shara. Are you okay? Are you hurt?" Asked Shara's mom.
“I'm fine, Mister, ugh… Light saved me and a bunch of others," said Shara.
“Mister…" said Shara's mom. She looked over at me and smiled.
“Thank you… Thank you so much!" Exclaimed her mom.
“It's not a problem. Though, you should know something," I said. “I did make a few
clones of her and sent the clones to a few hospitals. Just to confuse anyone that'll be looking for
her. Your daughter here is the real one."
“Thank you! Even if I'll have to have my daughter lay low for a while. Until Cardia's
taken care of," said Shara's mom.
“Yeah, but not safe, not until Cardia is done," I said. “Don't worry though… I'll take care
of it." She nodded and sat her daughter down in a booth next to the counter, making sure she was
okay.
“Hey, kid," said Ralphie, looking at me. “Take a seat."
I walked over, sitting down at the counter. Ralphie was cleaning down the counter, his shotgun
partially sticking out from behind the counter. He slid a menu in front of me, with the dinner
portions on it.
“What'd you want for lunch?" Asked Ralphie.
“Can I take a look first?" I asked, feeling a smile. “And um… what happened to the guy
you shot?" He smirked, pointing over his shoulder at a flier for a free clinic on the wall.
“They took him as a walk in," said Ralphie. “Took him a block or two, but he made it." I
let out a soft sigh as Lefty and Righty looked over the menu, debating on what to get in our
internal thoughts.
“You know, the news got a sighting of you. They're calling you the Blight. Looks like
you gave the cops a run for their money though," said Ralphie.
“Not really, I just took off when I was done with what I was doing," I said. “Didn't mean
to cause a shoot out. I just told the clones to act natural and…"
“And natural for them is…"
“...Shooting at cops that break in… Fine, rookie mistake. I'll fix it in the future."
“Smart move… Anyways, you're always welcomed here. Just tell the staff the order's for
a Rico Alfrer, and we'll make sure you got a good place to be," said Ralphie, taking out a card
and placing it in front of me. “And for a job, it's not fancy, but I think you'll do good there. The
owner knows me."
The card had the words “Fantasy Theater" written on the front and contact information on
the back. I nodded, pocketed the card, and ordered. I knew of the place, what it was, and it was…
an interesting place. But yeah, I could make some good money there.
Ralphie walked in the back, starting to cook my meal as I sat back, pulling up my hood.
“Well, now we have a todo list," said Righty. “Get whatever we can from our former
apartment, hunt down Cardia, and check out this Theater place."
“And hide from the cops and government," said Lefty.
“Along with something else… find anyone else that was sold off and injected with
whatever they put in me," I said. “Along with making a solid wardrobe. And figuring out our
powers."
“It's going to be a fun time," said Righty.
“And it's only noon," said Lefty. I felt a smile come to the three of our heads, as we
waited for our food.
Rook's POV
I was at the United Government Research and Development Center, pulling up any data I
could on any other subjects they took. I had gathered some intel as the door opened up. My eyes
slowly looked up to see Chessboard, the main handler of my small team of 'collection agents'
and in charge of the viral tests. A large male eagle and vulture hybrid in a suit and tie.
“Agent Rook, pack your bags," said Chessboard. “KP Thirteen M has been spotted in
Neon Haven. Sadly it's public now, but nothing a cover story can't fix. The rest of the Back Row
is going too."
“Copy, I'll get ready," I said, my heart sinking into my stomach. My master had been
found, and now I had to pretend to hunt them down with a series of other agents. I grabbed
whatever files I could and headed to the hangar, meeting the other agents.
“Agent Rook… glad you could join us," said King with a smile. He was a large male
lion, with white and black fur.
“Not a problem," I said. “He's escaped us before, but not again."
“That's the plan at least," said Queen. She was a female raven, typing away on a
computer with a robot drone in front of her.
“Yeah, give me his scent," said Bishop. A male fox that was polishing a heavy sniper
rifle.
“It's a capture mission. Not an extermination," said Knight. He was a male german
shepherd with a set of tools on his belt. I sat down in the plane with them, taking off for Neon
Ridge, avoiding any chance of contacting the Master until I got there.
???'s POV
We sat on the surface of the Salted Lands. We sat, waiting for any light of the Vexan. We
sat, waiting for the light. They all turned to me, their Chief.
“We must wait. They will come," I said again, holding the skull of a frozen Vexan. “A
new Core will come, a new light will shine, this darkness will…"
I looked to the sky, and so did all the others. Through the darkness of space, through the
empty void, we saw it. A yellow light far away. Dim, but there.
“A new core!" I called out. We all cried out as well, cheering.
“We must serve them," we said in unison. Our bodies turned to light, flying off into
space.
