**A Halo Fanfiction:

Interspecies Marriage**

Breathe in. Breathe out.

Thel took deep breaths as he quietly cleared his mind, meditating after a long day of having to deal with politics. He tried not to think about the problems that were ahead. He tried not to dwell on the many conversations he needed to have with the respective elites. He did his best to not even consider that the things he managed to accomplish today were just one of the many things in the laundry list of problems that he needed to attend to that came with being a kaidon. Thel tried to relax despite how mentally taxing everything was.

Breathe in. Breathe out.

He focused instead on where he was and what he had managed to accomplish. Sanghelios was in a far better state than it ever was. The alliance with humanity was a rocky one, but he had enough foresight to know that this was necessary. There was no need for bloodshed. The lies were gone and it was time to rebuild. Obviously not everyone was onboard. A Sangheili was a warrior. Fighting was as second nature and natural to them as breathing ever was. It was going to take time to adjust. Most Sangheili still struggled to find meaning in a time where fighting was no longer demanded. Even he was susceptible to it. All the talk and the politics and the diplomacy was important, but Thel found it mind numbingly dull. He recognized it played a key role in the grander scheme of things. But this was a game that humans were far more talented in playing in than they were.

Breath in. Breathe out.

Still, Vadam Keep was slowly rebuilding itself. The diplomacy was paying off. The humans were kind enough to give them aid, with Lord Hood keeping true to his word. Thel had reservations about the UNSC as he was well aware not all humans were happy with them being around, but he had enough respect to give them the benefit of the doubt. He wondered how his Spartan ally was doing. Last he heard, John was found on Requiem, a shield planet a fair bit away at a corner of the galaxy. He allowed himself a smile when thinking about his old green companion.

“Were it so easy."

Breathe in. Breathe out.

Thel continued to meditate, letting his mind wander on whatever it decided to linger on. His quiet concentration however was soon interrupted when he heard the doors behind him open and was accompanied by the sound of two sets of footsteps. He let out an annoyed sigh and opened his eyes.

“Kaidon," came the voice of the attendant. “Ambassador Xaro wishes to speak with you."

Knowing full well that his meditation for the day was rightfully derailed, Thel mentally shifted to that of his typical self. Calm, collected, and ready to pounce at any moment. Except this time, all he needed to do was converse with a good friend. “You can leave us."

The attendant left, leaving Thel and the ambassador by their lonesome. “Ambassador Xaro! You look well."

“I've been better," Xaro answered.

Thel walked over to a nearby cupboard and motioned for Xaro to come over. He began brewing the two of them a cup so they could have something to drink while they converse. “How has work been treating you?"

“Do you want me to be honest, or do you want to be prim and proper?"

Thel let out an amused laugh. “Surprise me."

“Terribly. I don't think I'll ever get used to being an ambassador. It's a lot more exhausting than being a Shipmaster, that's for sure."

“I can relate," Thel replied. He handed Xaro's coffee and the Sangheili thanked him for it. “I am thankful that the war is over, but I cannot believe the fact that I missed it. There's something nice about the simplicity of it. It was just us against them. There was no need for anything else beyond that."

“It was a lot more black and white. Though, to be fair, we were going to die at the end if we had actually won."

“The SanShyuum was not exactly the brightest of the bunch when it came to understanding what the Halos did. Either that or they knew and fully believed what they were preaching. I don't know which is worse."

“Does it matter?"

Thel shook his head. “No, but it is fun to think about. It's at least more entertaining than having to deal with making ordinances and making sure that the people of the Keep play nice with the humans who are actually trying to help us."

“Do you still have detractors even in your own state?"

“I don't think there will ever be an end to them. We still have SanShyuum sympathizers hiding among us. There are even Sangheili who willfully believed that firing the Halo rings was the right call despite being told otherwise and evidence to the contrary." Thel shook his head. “The more things change, the more they stay the same. If I was being honest with myself, I wish something more exciting was happening with me."

“Isn't the creation of the Swords of Sanghelios exciting though?"

Thel looked at Xaro, then shrugged. “True, but what I was referring to was something a bit more explosive." The Swords of Sanghelios was the answer to the lack of government on Sanghelios. Prior to meeting with humanity, the Sangheili as a species didn't really have a need for a way to represent themselves as a whole. Most of it was done through the Covenant. But now that was gone, and there was a need to keep things in order and a way to interface with humanity, the Swords of Sanghelios was created to address that. It was another responsibility that Thel ended up having to shoulder. The Arbiter wasn't normally seen as a political figure, but history had a way of changing how labels and titles functioned. “A bit more personal. Rtas is out there hunting the remaining SanShyuum, Usze and N'tho are having to deal with civil unrest and I'm here making sure things in Vadam State are functioning the way that it should. It's not exactly exciting."

“But it is important."

“Unfortunately, it is."

“Speaking of Usze, I'm surprised he's dealing with civil unrest. I thought he would have opted to be transferred to an operation that has him working more closely with the UNSC."

Thel cocked his head. “What makes you say that?"

“Last I heard, he had shown interest in a human soldier. I believe her name was Vale."

“Ah, yes, Olympia Vale," Thel said, thinking back to the human woman. “I have had the pleasure of working with her. She's astute, as all humans that we normally interact with are. I am not aware of this budding romance however. But I am intrigued." Thel chuckled. “I'm glad at least that the alliance is beginning to make us see each other in a different light." He then let out a sigh and crossed his arms across his chest. “That said, I'm sure you didn't come here to gossip with me, Ambassador. What headache are you going to give me this time?" Unfortunately for Thel, whenever Xaro came to visit him, it was indeed a headache. Most of the topics of discussion involved having to deal with the UNSC and wanting to further the alliance. Which was normally a good thing. But that didn't mean they were easy to accomplish.

Xaro's expression shifted from calm and jovial, to serious and quiet. “It's a bit of a more personal matter."

“Please, speak your mind."

Xaro paused, looking as if he was trying to choose the right words currently on what to say. He eventually cleared his throat and then answered. “I would like to get married."

Thel normally prided himself in being composed and collected. He was a warrior. He could take any news with a serious poker face. This news however caught him slack jawed. “Congratulations! That's…wait…" Xaro remained silent to let Thel piece the dots together and arrive at the conclusion naturally. “Married to…Jacob, Jacob Lane?"

“Yes. Which is why I seek your counsel, Thel. I do not know how to approach the matter."

"This is a very unprecedented matter. "

Unprecedented was understating it. Sangheili and humans were two vastly different cultures, and that wasn't mentioning the fact that there was a war prior to all of this. That wasn't even bringing up the idea that they were different species. In all of Thel's life, he never knew of a Sangheili that married a Kig-Yar for example. Maybe in the outer reaches of the galaxy perhaps. But it was definitely not something you would know of. Thel blinked. He realized his knowledge of human culture was only that of which he was exposed to whenever he was working with the UNSC. Most of them were soldiers and from what he understood, romance wasn't exactly on the top of their priority list. For all he knew, marriage wasn't a thing that humanity partook in!

"Have you asked Jacob about this?"

"I have. He was the one that actually brought it up."

"Did he?" Thel's eyes narrowed. It hasn't been that long since Xaro and Jacob were given their ambassador positions. He wasn't sure if that was long enough for Jacob to acclimate to things fully. “Is he aware of how differently we do things here?"

"Yes. I have informed him of the marriage trial an aspiring couple would have to undertake. It is the main reason why I'm here for your counsel."

That was right. There was also that too. Thel found himself resting his head on one of his hands for support. Xaro was here to give him another headache. That was when he realized something. "You are of clan Zaram, yes?"

"You are correct." Thel knew it as a relatively small clan that was also situated in the Vadam State. "Or at least I used to be," Xaro continued. “I have been stripped of my name as a consequence of my actions. I have remained clanless for quite some time now."

Now this truly caught Thel off guard. "By the Rings, what for?"

Xaro looked crestfallen. "My clan did not approve of my relations with Jacob."

Thel nodded, now fully realizing why. Having an alliance with humanity was already a touchy subject. Not many clans were happy with it to the extent that they more so tolerated it and saw it as a necessary evil. He could only imagine how they would take the news that one of their own was having more intimate relations with one. Thel looked at Xaro with sympathy and respect. Being claness wasn't a position most Sangheili would like to be in. They might as well be dead given that they would effectively be on their own and had no one to turn to in case things went awry. They were considered social outcasts. "I am sorry to hear that, Xaro."

"It is no burden, Thel. All that matters to me is Jacob's happiness."

If there was one thing Thel liked about Xaro, it was his undying loyalty. It was a trait that Thel liked in the elites that served under him when he was still a Supreme Commander way back in the day. Xaro had loyalty, but was also independent. He was open to breaking the norm if it meant that it would be for the better. Some Sangheili would find the lack of obedience to be concerning. Thel himself would be the same. But as time went on, and with the life experiences Thel had, it was the ability to think for yourself is what he realized that truly mattered. Thel thought at that moment. Vadam was a state that was at the forefront of things. It would be in his best interest to make sure that the Sangheili he had with him were individuals that were open to breaking new ground.

"Spoken like a true mate. It is Zaram's loss for ridding themselves of a fine warrior such as you."

It was indeed Zaram's loss. Thankfully, it was clan Vadam's gain.

“You know what, I would gladly have you be part of the clan in that case."

"I'm sorry?"

"You heard me. As Kaidon, I welcome you to the clan Vadam, Xaro, if you would take it."

Xaro answered faster than he could think. "Yes, of course!" He then quickly corrected himself, realizing that he didn't want to come across as a bit too enthusiastic. “I mean, yes, I accept your offer."

Thel smiled. "Good. From this day forth, you can now proudly claim to be part of clan Vadam. That also means that as Kaidon, I can officiate your wedding. I'm assuming you and Jacob would rather not have me send the finest Vadam warriors to test your mettle and resolve."

"You assume correctly."

"I figured as much. Besides, the last thing I want is for the Sangheili and Human ambassador to wind up dead due to some Sangheili tradition that frankly needs an overhaul." He let out a wry smile. "What do you propose then?"

"Well, Jacob and I have been talking and…"

Xaro then began to relay what he and Jacob had in mind. Thel's expression shifted from surprise, to curiosity, to vested interest.

“So what do you think?" Xaro asked after laying it all down.

Thel smirked. “I think I found the explosive thing I was hoping to keep the doldrum away."

For once, Thel was looking forward to dealing with some bureaucracy.

0 = 0 = 0 = 0 = 0 = 0

The thing about the news was that it traveled fast. Jacob honestly preferred to keep the whole marriage thing between him and Xaro to be a private affair. After all, it was a personal thing that honestly didn't concern anyone else except both he and Xaro, and maybe a few chosen individuals. Jacob didn't have any more family. At least not directly related. The ones that were had died a long time ago since they decided it was a good idea to be an insurrectionist. As far as he was aware, Xaro didn't have any either. Or at least, ones that Xaro knew personally given the whole culture about Sangheilis and them not knowing their parentage. Unfortunately for Jacob however, their occupation and position placed them in a certain spotlight. This meant that anything they did was somewhat news worthy given that they were at the forefront of a budding alliance that felt like it could go either way at any moment. Despite making it very clear to Xaro that no one else should know about this, somewhere down the line, someone got wind of it. Maybe it was Thel himself that blabbered about it, although he struggled to think why. Or maybe it was an attendant that happened to overhear murmurings about it behind closed doors. Either way, word got out and it went through the rounds. It didn't take long till media outlets picked it up and it got to the point where it was now.

It was honestly a surreal moment for Jacob to see both his and Xaro's face on the news once again with the ticker at the bottom claiming in bold letters: "An Unprecedented Union!"

“We begin the news on the current hour with an interesting bit of development: human ambassador Jacob Lane, along with his counterpart, Sangheili ambassador, Xaro Zaram, have reached a new level of understanding. A new level that could mark history. There have been unconfirmed reports on the possibility that the two are in the talks of getting married. Jacob Lane and Xaro Zaram have been open about their romantic relationship, using it as a possible proof that humanity and Sangheili could coexist with one another. We're currently still trying to reach out to the aforementioned individuals to confirm if this rumor is true or not, as its existence could very well change the status quo."

Jacob glanced at the blinking red light on the phone next to his desk. Maybe that was the journalist that was trying to call him for hours on end earlier. He had to defer the individual given that he was in a meeting.

“We will continue to monitor this story as it continues to develop."

Jacob turned the television off, letting out a dejected sigh. He was feeling the signs of a headache coming from just the idea of all the media that was no doubt going to start coming to his office to get his say in the matter. Would he deny it? Would he reveal it to be true? He honestly wasn't sure which was the worse option as either choice would lead to another round of media hounding. His peace and quiet was interrupted as there was a knock on the door to his office.

One of Jacob's assistants popped in. "Jacob, sir, someone's here to see you."

"Can't you reschedule the meeting? I'm kind of in the middle of something." Jacob was still trying to think of what could possibly be the consequences of this marriage affair being announced to the entire galaxy like this. He wondered who even leaked it to begin with.

"I'm afraid your schedule is cleared for the rest of the day, Ambassador Lane." Jacob turned his head up to see a man in a well pressed suit enter the room. He was flanked by two marines whose armor Jacob immediately recognized. Jacob did his best not to roll his eyes. Of course the UNSC was here. This did kind of concern them after all. Jacob looked at the man. He was important enough to be escorted but he himself looked like he could take anyone in a fight. His eyes glanced at the symbol on the man's lapel and recognized it.

"Always a great day for a spook to visit me."

The man ignored Jacob's remark and instead introduced himself by extending a hand for a handshake. "Brian Clark, ONI Second Division."

Even back in his days as a lowly combat medic, he knew well enough that getting a visit from ONI, regardless of what division they were from, was a bad sign. "Second Division. You guys handle intelligence right?"

"That's Section One. We handle communications and media relations."

"You mean propaganda."

Brian smiled. "Sharp. I wouldn't expect less from someone who has to deal with people everyday. And our alien allies." His expression turned serious. "I'm here because of this." He showed him his datapad that was playing a video that had talking heads discussing the wedding that was rumored to be happening. "I would like to ask who put you up to this."

Jacob blinked. "I'm sorry?"

"This whole marriage thing. Did someone order you to do this?"

The remark completely blindsided Jacob. "No! Of course not! That's preposterous. Why are you asking anyway?"

Brian answered in a manner that completely betrayed his spook status. “Because it's a genius move!" He then cleared his throat, and adjusted his tie. “I am forever horrified for not having come up with it myself." He looked distraught, devastated, and at the same time annoyed. "So you mean to tell me that this is legitimately a real thing?"

"I'm surprised you're asking me that. Aren't you guys supposed to be ones who would normally be three steps ahead or something? Keeping your finger on the pulse and all that?"

"Yes," Brian responded. If he was insulted by Jacob's off the cuff response, he didn't show it. "We are well aware of your relations with Xaro Zaram. But to reach this point is something short of a miracle."

“I mean it's just a natural progression of a relationship but alright. I'll take your word for it."

“I apologize. I didn't mean no disrespect. It's just that interspecies relations are uncommon. I admit, we first thought that it was a ploy the Sangheili were doing. Perhaps changing the battlefield from conventional warfare to something more akin to psychological warfare."

Jacob looked at him incredulously. “Are you seriously suggesting that Xaro was mind controlling me to like him?"

“I am," Brian answered with a straight face. “You can never be too sure what your enemies have up their sleeves."

“Allies," Jacob said, emphasizing the word to correct Brian's statement.

“Yesterday's enemies are today's allies. And today's allies could be tomorrow's problem."

“How do you guys operate with so much cynicism coursing through your veins?"

“We're realists, Ambassador Lane. We see the world for what it is, not what it could be."

“I see." Jacob nodded. "That's all well and good, Mr. Clark, but I'm sure you weren't here to just give me your well wishes." His eyes narrowed. “Why are you really here?"

"Ambassador Lane, I'm here to make sure your marriage goes off without a hitch. It's been made clear to me that it is in the UNSC's best interest that this all works out." Brian smiled. Jacob couldn't tell if it was sincere however. "You two are, after all, the poster child of the alliance."

Jacob released a breath he wasn't aware he was holding. He supposed that there was a part of him that did wonder if this was something he could do. Part of the reason why he wanted to keep the marriage thing a secret was because he was worried that if people knew, especially the UNSC, it would become a political thing. Thankfully for him, the UNSC was now sanctioning it. Not that he was planning on asking permission to begin with but it was appreciated nonetheless. "That's reassuring. What, are you planning on helping with the catering then?"

"All that, and more. Compared to everything I've done in ONI, believe me when I say that it would be my pleasure."

Knowing the rumors surrounding ONI, Jacob believed him.

What followed was a media frenzy unlike any other. It seemed for a brief moment in time, Jacob and Xaro were made as the main characters of the universe. The UNSC, as per what Brian said, was in full support of what Jacob and Xaro were doing. What started out as a simple request of marriage between two individuals blew up to be something recognized as a political move that both factions had to address.

The UNSC was rightfully asked about the entire affair and the main public relations response they gave was serviceable. It was the action of one man, but upon realizing the importance of the alliance, figured it was a step in the right direction. If people like the Master Chief and the Arbiter could get along in the battlefield, why couldn't normal people like two ambassadors achieve the same? The Swords of Sanghelios weighed in on the matter, giving Xaro their blessing. It was supposedly a necessary step that needed to be taken if humanity and Sangheili were to coexist.

Naturally, there were many questions. Jacob and Xaro were pulled from one interview to the other. It got to a point that Jacob barely did anything for a day outside of answering questions that delved into his personal life as well as his relations with Xaro. It reminded him of that time when he and Xaro were announced as ambassadors. The days ended with Jacob completely exhausted just from the sheer amount of incessant questions. By the time the week ended, he was grateful to just be at home if only for the sole reason that he wasn't allowed to be disturbed during his off days.

“Are you alright?" Xaro asked, placing a hand on Jacob's shoulder. The two were at home, enjoying each other's company in the living room. Jacob would have been watching what could be streamed to his television but he opted not to as the last thing he wanted was to see a talk show with people wondering what it was like to live as a married couple on Sanghelios. On the bright side, the news of the marriage was giving some people the courage to try and visit Sanghelios as the civil war in some states were beginning to get quelled. Or at least, Jacob thought it was a bright side.

“I'm fine," he answered, letting out a tired sigh.

“I feel like I am to blame for all of this."

“What? No, of course not"

“I should have made it more clear to the Arbiter that this was a matter of secrecy."

Jacob smiled wryly. “Let's just be grateful that this is the biggest headline happening in the galaxy now and not the news that another Halo ring was found or whatever."

“I suppose it's for the best. And it's not like it's going to be a constant thing however."

“Yeah, it'll pass. Speaking of which, everything should be set for the coming days. I never imagined in my life that the UNSC of all groups would be helping in organizing my wedding but stranger things can and have happened."

“Did you ever imagine you were going to get married? “Xaro asked

Jacob scoffed. “No. I was a combat medic, Xaro. I didn't have a death wish but I came to terms with the idea that I might die out in the field, especially with how the war was going at the time. I made my peace. I spent more time with people either dead or dying than I did with friends and family. The only living relatives I have are people I've rarely interacted with since they're in the inner colonies. You're probably the most romantic thing that ever happened in my life."

“How is it then that you're so good at it?"

“Good at what?"

“Sex."

“Oh that's easy," Jacob answered. “I said you were the most romantic thing that ever happened to me. I didn't say you were the only sexual thing to happen to me."

“Ah, I see."

“Speaking of which, how is that side of the marriage going anyways?"

“The trial? Splendid. The judges have been contacted and they have said yes."

“We're not allowed to know how many, right?"

Xaro shook his head. “No. We are only to prepare as best as we can."

“When is it going to happen anyways?"

“A few days from now," Xaro replied. “Are you worried?"

Jacob shrugged. “A little. I'm being threatened by the idea of an otherwise good time. The only thing I'm concerned about is if I'm going to live through the entire thing. Which I know I will, but you get what I mean."

“It can be a little overwhelming, yes. But I think you will learn to like it."

“I sure hope so."

0 = 0 = 0 = 0 = 0 = 0

It wasn't uncommon to see a myriad of ships passing through the spaceport located at Akodu. It was the center of trade in the Vadam State so ships passed through it frequently, hauling cargo, materials, and even various species as it also served as a main hub that led to other transport networks going to other cities in the state. And with the now forged alliance, humans, mostly UNSC, walked about and perhaps a few businessmen wanting to gain a foothold on possible new ventures. The place was vibrant, alive, and was regularly traversed by people of all walks of life. As one ship left to head to their next destination, a new ship took its place. It was a transport vessel, one that had entered the atmosphere not too long ago.

Aboard it were the typical individuals: Sangheili that were heading back home after a solid amount of time working at the outer colonies, a group of Kig-Yar that were eager to find work after hearing rumors that there was pay to be found on Sanghelios and there were even some humans. As the doors opened and the passengers began to pile out, a certain Sangheili did his best to blend in amongst the crowd.

The trip for him was long and horrendous. He wasn't built for passenger ships. It was beneath him. But unfortunately, he had to take what he could get. Even if he had to share it with those filthy humans. The Sangheili happened to glance forward and saw the humans were conversing with the other Sangheili passengers from earlier. It took every fiber of his being not to lash out right then and there. It was wrong. It was all wrong. The Sangheili took deep breaths. He made it this far. He only needed to be patient a bit longer.

The Sangheili continued forward, disappearing into the crowd. Akodu had changed drastically in the years since he last visited. It was a small port town that served as a thoroughfare. The only thing exciting about it was the space port. But now he barely recognized it. Buildings of all shapes and sizes sprouted up all around him. Some were made in the traditional architecture of Sanghelios, and the others were clearly prefabricated. These were a dime a dozen and it was clear that they were brought here by the UNSC as their logo was plastered all over it. He hated humanity, but if there was one thing he did like about them, it was the fact that they made it very clear what belonged to them. Thankfully as he walked further and further away from the city center and into the outskirts, the streets began looking more and more familiar. It didn't take long until he arrived at his destination: a small unassuming building hiding amidst the other taller structures.

He proceeded to go inside, ignoring the closed signage by the door.

The bell announced his arrival. “Can't you read? We're closed!" It came from the backroom.

The Sangheili ignored the answer and opened the door behind the counter, unsurprised that it was unlocked. He was greeted to the sight of a Sangheili sitting in front of a viewscreen, watching a news broadcast.

“Look, if this is about the electric bill, I told you guys I'd pay you tomorrow."

“I'm not here for the bill." He made his presence known, lowering his hood to show his face. “It's been a long time, Maci."

The color drained from Maci's face as he turned around to look at the stranger.

“You look as if you've seen a ghost."

Maci blinked, regaining his composure. “Vuze?" He looked him up and down. Vuze looked tattered, worn, and disheveled, but it was a face he could never forget. “You're alive. I thought you died."

“I got better." Vuze then entered the room, closing the door behind him. He seated himself on the nearby vacant chair, letting out a tired groan as he got himself comfortable. Maci was still looking at him, completely slack jawed and bewildered. Vuze looked at him and rolled his eyes. “It's rude to stare, you know."

Maci snapped to attention. “S-sorry. It's just…wow. Let me get you something to drink. You looked parched." He then exited the room, leaving Vuze to be alone with the television. It would seem Maci had gotten a step up in life, having been able to get a connection that would be able to stream international transmissions. After playing some adverts for products Vuze did not even decide to give the light of day, it transitioned to showing a talk show of sorts that involved individuals talking about the latest gossip. He never did like these sorts of things and was about to turn it off when the topic of conversation held his interest. Two images flashed on screen accompanied by names he recognized all too well.

By now Maci had entered the room carrying a glass of water. “Here," he said, handing it to Vuze who reached out to take it.

“You alright?" Maci asked, referring to the scar that ran through Vuze's arm.

“I am a warrior. This is nothing." He gulped down the glass and stared intently at the viewscreen.

Maci followed his line of sight and realized he was engaged with the talk show that was talking about the two ambassadors getting wed. “Crazy, right? A human and a Sangheili getting married. It's…" Maci tried to find the right words.

“It's wrong," Vuze finished for him. “This is downright despicable. First they ally with the humans, and now we even go so far as to share something sacred? What has the world come to? What has the Arbiter mentioned about this?"

“The Arbiter? He's the one that actually allowed it. It's been a topic of debate amongst the keeps but majority of them seem to be slowly warming up to the idea."

“So he has managed to seduce them with his honeyed words too, huh?" Vuze let out a frustrated sigh. It was going the wrong way. Everything in his life felt like it was falling apart. His home was filled with faces and aliens he didn't recognize. And his entire history felt like it was getting replaced by whatever this is. “What about the outliers? Are there still Sangheili rebelling?"

“The Civil War is still…a thing," Maci responded. “Losing the Didact's Fingers, along with the Didact's Hand for that matter, was a devastating blow to morale. I'll have to be honest with you, Vuze, it's not looking good."

“Then we just need to strike where it hurts the most," Vuze said, looking at the screen in front of him that still had the image of Xaro and Jacob.

“We?" Maci asked incredulously.

Vuze's brow rose.

“Look around you, Vuze," Maci said. “Times are changing. Talk like this is going to get you imprisoned for instigating insurrection. I have no idea how you managed to survive for this long but I think it's the Forerunner's way of giving you a second chance. Are you sure you want to throw it away to fight a losing battle?"

“A losing battle? What happened to the fire you had? I thought you were dedicated to the cause of fighting back against the lies of the Arbiter? I thought you were with me till the very end?"

“I was, Vuze, then you died." Maci looked at him seriously. “And it made me reevaluate what I was fighting for. Maybe I was on the wrong side of history. Times change. And we change along with it. Maybe you should consider changing too."

Vuze, however, remained unconvinced. His mind was decided a long time ago. He strongly believed that humanity was going to be their death and this alliance was just a cover to get them to lower their guard long enough to deliver a decisive strike. “No. It is you who does not understand. But it does not matter. I only came here to see if you could still be called upon. Unfortunately, I see nothing of the sort." Vuze placed the empty glass on the table and proceeded to head to the exit.

“Whatever you're planning on doing, don't do it."

Vuze stopped and looked back. “And why should I not?"

“You're going to get yourself killed."

Vuze snorted. “I've been through worse."

And with that, Vuze left, leaving Maci behind.

Rtas Vadum was a Sangheili that for the most part disappeared into the background once the Human-Covenant War officially ended. While he was a key player in making the necessary steps that would ultimately lead to the alliance with the UNSC, he didn't see himself as a political figure and respectfully kept his head out of negotiations once the dust settled. He saw himself as a warrior first and foremost, and never in his life had aspirations to become a politician. And that was a notion that wasn't going to change despite the opportunity presented before him. He instead used his skills and talents into something more productive–which was to hunt down the SanShyuum who, a large majority of, thought it was best to lead them and many others to their doom by preaching about a religion they clearly did not understand. Rtas and his motley crew dedicated themselves to the cause of eradicating the traitorous species as a way to exact revenge after what happened during the Great Schism and the revelations that followed. This would ultimately lead to him exploring the vastness of space to make sure that there was no place left for the SanShyuum. Despite this however, he kept in touch with Thel Vadam and made sure to keep himself abreast of what was happening in his home planet while he was away.

It was interesting to hear that the relationship between the Sangheili and the UNSC teetered back and forth between familial hot and distantly cold as tensions were naturally uneasy. It was even more interesting to hear that steps were being taken to help foster the relationship further, as when he heard the announcement of an experimental group being created which was TaskForce 117.

He had worked with humans before, fought alongside them, and shed blood with them. For all the lies the SanShyuum fed them and the endless propaganda they had to suffer through, the truth was that humans were aggressively stubborn and had the tendency to persevere despite insurmountable odds. They didn't revere or worship the Forerunners but they did respect them, and that was well enough for someone like Rtas. Humans were interesting; another alien species in the galaxy that had their own motives and goals. Compared to the rest that Rtas had the pleasure of interacting with, humans were the easiest to get along with, but the hardest to understand as their motives could vary wildly from one another.

Which was why it came as a surprise to him when he happened to receive a message that day from Thel telling him of a peculiar request. He was in the privacy of his cabin when the slipspace message came in. Rtas opened it and began to read through. The typical pleasantries were there, along with the casual tone of conversation. Sanghelios was recovering and the Swords of Sanghelios was coming into its own. They had some rough edges but it wasn't something Thel couldn't handle. Thel left a slot open for Rtas in the event that he ever changed his mind about taking a governmental position. At the bottom however was an extra bit of data. Upon properly parsing it to readable text, Rtas was taken aback at what he was reading.

“Rtas, I need you to participate in a marriage trial with me."

Rtas was rightfully confused. For one thing, he wasn't part of clan Vadam. He was part of clan Vadum. A different clan entirely. Was Thel mistaken in typing this? A wall of text accompanied it at the bottom that helped clarify the situation. Rtas's eyes grew bigger as he read the paragraphs.

“A human and a Sangheili are getting married?!" He blinked, tossing the idea inside his mind. “How is that even possible?" He continued to read. It would seem that because this was an unprecedented union, a unique panel was deemed required by Thel, the one who would be overseeing the trial. Aside from Thel and Rtas, two other Sangheili were invited and have already said yes. Rtas was considered as he was, Thel put it, the “neutral" option. What that meant was made more clear when he realized what the trial actually entailed. Rtas wasn't a stranger to marriage trials. He had participated in some back when he was still a young lad at Sanghelios. It was unfortunately bloody and messy as the couples he had to judge opted for the violent option.

The couple he was being invited to judge had chosen a more personal trial: one that would offer their bodies in hopes of being accepted into the clan.

“I've chosen you as a panel member as I concluded you can be impartial in judging as I believe you haven't dabbled in what humans can offer," Rtas read the statement aloud to himself. He paused, then read it again just to make sure he actually read it properly this time. The option to say no was on the table but his curiosity had now gotten the better of him. Rtas had never really thought of humans that way. He wasn't even sure if it was physically possible. He wasn't really sure how to feel about it. But the idea was there and it was now beginning to take root. The unfortunate side effect of being laser focused on fighting and being out hunting was being unable to take care of baser needs. And said needs only now made itself more clear to Rtas at how he was terrible at taking care of himself.

Perhaps shore leave was in order then.

Rtas then began to type up a message that he would send to Thel. He would eventually break the news later to his crew that an important event came up and they were all to head back to Sanghelios for it. As the ship's thrusters powered up, the engines fired, and the stars began to streak across the view screen, Rtas sat in the captain's chair, now vividly wondering what a naked human even looked like.

It didn't take long for the ship to exit slipspace and arrive at Sanghelios. Rtas and a couple Sangheili who wanted to head back down to their homeplanet joined him on a cruiser and headed down to Akodu Space Port. From there, Rtas went by his lonesome, instructing his men to enjoy their leave while he attended to personal matters. He got himself a transport and made his way to Vadam Keep. Along the way, Rtas was able to piece together the bits and pieces of the happenings while he was gone. It seemed the biggest news circulating was the marriage between two specific individuals, the ambassador for humanity, and the ambassador for Sanghelios. Rtas didn't have to guess if those two getting married were somehow related to the marriage trial he was going to judge.

He arrived soon after at Vadam Keep, still standing strongly after all these years. Aside from new buildings being erected, and the continued upkeep of the existing ones, not much has changed. He entered the imposing structure, being recognized as an esteemed guest of the Kaidon and led to a room where two other Sangheili were waiting.

“Rtas?" one of them piped up, immediately recognizing him.

The other turned his head. “Rtas Vadum? It's been a while since we've last heard of you."

“It seems I'm at a loss. You two know who I am and yet I cannot say the same."

“Apologies. I'm Fezo Hadum."

“Tev Kovamai."

Rtas nodded. “Am I right in assuming you two are also judges for this marriage trial."

“We are," Fezo responded. “It was quite illuminating when I received the message from the Arbiter. I never imagined I would take part in something like this."

“Do you know why you were chosen?" Rtas asked. “I was told I was the neutral option."

“I was chosen because I was Xaro's second in command. I succeeded him when he stepped down and became an ambassador." Fezo then paused, seemingly thinking about something before ultimately saying what it was in his mind. “That and perhaps I've had relations with humans."

Rtas blinked, mentally wondering how far those relations meant in this context. He decided not to pry as he figured it would be too nosy. He turned his attention to Tev who then answered in turn. “I'm a Sangheili doctor who is also now studying human physiology. I was part of TaskForce 117, same as Fezo; I worked in tandem with Jacob in the medical unit. The Arbiter has informed me that it would be wise for someone like me to be around in case there would be unforeseen consequences."

“Do you have relations with humans as well, doctor?"

“I see it as a scientific endeavor."

Rtas couldn't tell if that was a yes or a no. The doors behind them opened once more and this time they were joined by the most important Sangheili, Thel. “I'm glad you three could make it in such short notice," he said, giving each of them a nod of acknowledgement. “Rtas! I hope you are doing well, old friend."

“Better as I could ever be. I admit, I was intrigued when you sent me the message. I wasn't sure what to make of it."

“Then that's good. It makes you all the more impartial in judging. Let us go. The time of the hour has come and we must exact the trial."

The group of male Sangheili left the room, with Thel leading them to where the trial was to be conducted, which was at the backside of the keep, away from prying and curious eyes. The chamber itself was more than accommodating, with a large bed in the middle and a row of four chairs situated by its foot. Xaro and Jacob were already there, looking a bit nervous and awkward, but nonetheless ready for what was to happen. Jacob in particular, as Rtas noted, looked intimidated but did his best not to show it. He could understand why, given that he was the only human in the room. Rtas's first impression of Jacob was that he looked weak, but all humans were to him. At least, the typical ones. The Spartans were a different breed entirely and Rtas could tell Jacob was not a Spartan. Still, he held his tongue, willing to give Jacob the benefit of the doubt.

The trial itself was relatively simple. The ones to be judged needed to satisfy the judges. Or at least be satisfied in whatever they opt to do. To which in this case, was sexual gratification. Rtas rightfully stayed in his seat, curious on what he was going to see and doing his best to look at this objectively. Tev sat next to him, taking out a datapad and began to make some notes. Both Thel and Fezo were quick to start things off, with Xaro and Jacob obediently getting on their knees and proceeding to serve the two Sangheili males. Thel was being served by Xaro, and Fezo by Jacob. Both looked like they were enjoying themselves although Fezo was visibly trying to hide it but failing terribly.

Rtas turned to look at Tev who was typing up a storm on his datapad. “Notes? What for?"

“Science, Rtas. This is important academic research. This could very well be monumental as we continue a healthy alliance with humanity," Tev responded.

Rtas nodded, turning his head back to look at the group in front of him.

Jacob for his part did his best to work his magic on Fezo's cock. The length was a challenge but it wasn't something he couldn't handle, given that he had endless experience with handling Xaro as well as Thel. It was admittedly cute to hear the noises coming out from Fezo as he trailed his tongue up and down the entirety of his length. He could see the Sangheili's wanton desire restrained by hesitation behind his eyes. His face was saying no but his body was proudly saying yes. The conflict was amusing to watch. Next to him was Xaro, doing his best to work on Thel's hardened cock.

“Impressive," Thel said, looking down on Xaro. “But it is clear to me that you have much to learn. Your partner still has the crown in regards to cock sucking." He turned to look at Fezo whose eyelids were fluttering and his head reeled back. “How is he?"

“Amazing," Fezo responded. “This shouldn't feel as good as it is, but Jacob's mouth is just different."

It was indeed different. Thel noted that the secret to why humans were good at cock sucking was the fact that they had lips. That and their mouths were better designed for the lewd act. But that didn't mean Xaro wasn't doing a good job. He was a fast learner, picking up habits and motions that Jacob did. The Sangheili used his free hands to fondle Thel's balls, giving them gentle tugs and squeezes to help further things along. Thel found himself moving his hips in tune with Xaro's sucking. A steady rhythm followed, with him rocking back and forth. Fezo was pretty much the same. But perhaps it was the excitement, or being entirely pent up, he was unable to keep his composure and unceremoniously emptied himself into Jacob's greedy mouth. Jacob was showered in copious amounts of cum, the first what he no doubt assumed were many to follow. The human did his best to swallow it all down but Fezo was like a hose, spraying and watering him like he was a plant in dire need of water. His taste was that of the typical Sangheili cum Jacob had guzzled numerous times by now. Salty, tangy, with a particular hint of sweetness that was affected by the Sangheili's diet. It was a taste that sent his mind reeling and the scent intoxicating him. Jacob found himself licking the tip of Fezo's now sensitive cockhead, the Sangheili shivering as the overstimulation was a bit too much for him.

“Fuck," Fezo said, pulling back slightly. Jacob reluctantly let go, patiently waiting for the next person he was to serve.

Tev stepped up next, having been quietly watching the scene in front of him and lightly jerking himself off at the side. He was fully undressed by this point, having his articles of clothing folded neatly on the seat he was sitting at earlier. With a datapad in hand, Tev began to meticulously take notes while Jacob reached out and began to fondle and suckle on the Sangheili's cock. Unlike Fezo earlier, Tev was a more modest Sangheili, sporting a humble length of a cock that was more on the shorter side of the spectrum. What he did have going for him was his thickness. Jacob could barely make both of his fingers touch tips while he wrapped it around the Sangheili's member. He honestly had to stretch his mouth to its very limits in order to even take the cock.

Upon seeing the act, Tev immediately wrote down more notes on his paper. “A human's ability to stretch their jaw is fascinating. This definitely needs more study." Jacob used his tongue to flick at the cockhead, earning him a light groan from Tev as he squired a healthy bit of pre into Jacob's mouth. “Definitely needs more study," he added, underlining his own words in the datapad for emphasis.

While the two were busy going at it, Fezo made his way towards the row of chairs and seated himself comfortably, still trying to recover from his explosive orgasm. It surprised him that Rtas was still fully dressed compared to everyone else in the room that was now fully naked. He also noted the stiffening erection that was becoming very prominent in the warrior's pants. “Are you alright?"

The question broke Rtas's concentration. “I am fine," he answered. “Just…focusing."

“You're taking this way too seriously."

“Am I?" Rtas said. This was a marriage trial and he wanted to give this the gravitas that it deserved. It was worth pointing out that he couldn't find any reason to fail Xaro and Jacob. They were a good couple and good people. He did some background checking on them earlier and everything was squared away. This was a marriage trial, yes, but it was more so a formality. “Perhaps you are right," he said, leaning back in his chair.

“Enjoy yourself. The happy couple is celebrating and we have the luxury of being part of it," Fezo added.

Rtas nodded, taking a moment to collect himself before ultimately throwing caution to the wind. After seeing the mess Fezo made, he was curious if Jacob's mouth was all it was cracked up to be. By this point Tev was happily thrusting in and out of the human's mouth, using it more like a toy than anything else. Jacob for his part was staying strong, looking quite happy where he was despite the treatment he was given. His face was a bit red and he was getting sweaty from all the heated excitement but he was still roaring to go. Next to him was Xaro and Thel. Thel had just came, dowsing Xaro with his cum and letting the other Sangheili bask in the afterglow. The two men reached for a nearby towel to at least clean themselves off.

“He's quite talented, isn't he?" Thel asked Xaro.

“That he is. I'm quite fortunate to have him."

“That you are," Thel responded.

Tev was desperately trying to write some stuff down but ultimately dropped the datapad when he reached his climax. He was unable to hold himself, his eyes threatening to bulge out as he held Jacob's head in place, burying his cock as deep as it can go into Jacob's gullet. The human was subjected to a torrent of cum, all of which he did his best to gulp down. The excess flowed out of his lips, dripping down his naked form. Tev was breathing heavily by the end of it.

“My hearts are racing." He placed two fingers on his neck to check for the pulse. “I need to take note of the heart rate."

“Why don't you sit down for a bit, Tev?" Thel said, ushering him to the chair to sit next to Fezo who handed him a towel.

Xaro turned to his fiance, and wiped the cum dripping from Jacob's mouth. “How are you holding up?"

“Great!" Jacob remarked. He then let out a belch. “Excuse me. You were right in not eating prior to this."

Their conversation was interrupted when Rtas made his presence known. “Excuse me. Can I be serviced next?"

Jacob and Xaro looked at each other, with Jacob nodding. “Sure thing." He then paused for a bit. “I don't believe we've met before."

“Rtas Vadum." “THE Rtas Vadum?" Jacob said, looking him up and down. “I never imagined I'd meet you in person, much less do this with you." Jacob knew of Rtas but never met him personally. He knew the Sangheili's contributions to the war effort. Rtas was a war hero in his own right. And judging by what he was packing, was very much a hero in the bedroom as well. Plump balls and a sizable dong, it was a challenge Jacob wasn't going to back down. He had taken the other cocks prior. This was no different. With reformed gusto, Jacob went for it, pulling Rtas's pants down further to give him better access and began to work his magic. He started at the tip, using his tongue to fondle the Sangheili's slowly stiffening cock. He trailed it down the entirety of its length, taking note of its texture and the minor bumps here and there. It seemed every Sangheili had a unique pattern to them. He then used his other hand to fondle the Sangheili's balls. He was going to continue further when a rumble came from Rtas.

“You are most talented with your mouth," he said. “But I want to see how well you hold up with your other end."

Rtas carried Jacob to the bed, gently laying him down like a former lover. He trailed a finger across Jacob's body and Jacob could see the Sangheili was momentarily lost in his memories. Jacob's body was soft and supple, which was to be expected of humans. But having him here in front of him, it reminded Rtas of his former lover, Kusovai. He was brought back to reality when Jacob spread his legs and offered his hole to him. Now slick and wet from the blowjob from earlier, Rtas cautiously inserted himself into Jacob. This wasn't the first time Jacob was fucked by a Sangheili, but this was Rtas's first time to fuck a human. It was surprisingly pleasant. And he didn't want to admit it right then and there, but it was a better experience than fucking a Sangheili.

Sangheili were known for their leathery skin, and this somewhat applied to their insides as well. It was hard to describe but if Rtas were to put it to words, it was the difference between fucking a soft supple hole that massaged your cock to one that was fucking a hole that was somewhere between sandpaper and hard plastic. One required little to no lubrication, and the other required copious amounts of it.

“I'm beginning to see why Xaro has taken a liking to you," Rtas said, beginning his thrusts. He leaned down and continued to thrust into Jacob, going so far as to lick the bottom of his neck. Rtas was getting lost in the moment, forgetting for an instance that he was with Jacob and not Kusovai. It made him reach forward and kiss him. He showed a gentleness that was enough to make anyone jealous.

Which was why next to him, Xaro was getting the pounding of his life. Thel and Fezo had seen what Jacob was doing to Rtas and it had the effect of making them hornier. However, for Rtas sake, they opted to not bother Jacob for a bit and instead make use of Xaro as their way to relieve themselves. It was more so a courtesy for Rtas as he was the newcomer in all of this and they wanted him to have a good time.

It was tough for Xaro having to take two Sangheili at the same time. Thel was happily pounding away at his mouth Fezo was humping at his tight ass. “Damn, Xaro. If I had known you were this tight, I would have asked to have spent more time with you back at the Relentless Progress."

Thel was focused on his own breathing. He didn't want to cum yet but Xaro was making it difficult. Tev was hovering near them, one hand on his datapad, and the other on his cock. He was pleasuring himself just as he was mentally taking notes on the scene before him. The anal pounding continued for a solid minute or so, with Rtas becoming more confident in his thrusts. The gentle actions were soon replaced with more demanding humps and Jacob soon found his backside becoming filled with alien spunk. Rtas even went so far as to go balls deep.

It was all blurring Jacob. Perhaps it was the intoxication of the smell of the sex in the air, or the vast amounts of alien cum he'd been swallowing, but his mind struggled to comprehend the orgy that soon commenced. Once he was done servicing Rtas, and getting hosed in more of that alien juice, another followed. Jacob found himself pushed to the bed, his legs spread wide open, and his ass effectively violated by the next Sangheili who was roaring to go. There wasn't any waiting. There wasn't any lubrication, not that it was needed anyway. There were no questions asked. He just found himself throw onto the bed and fucked relentless from behind. Jacob didn't even have time to shout as he momentarily lost his voice. Getting rammed with a thick cock up your ass would make anyone choke up at how fast it was. It was at this moment Jacob was thankful this wasn't his first time. If anything, he relished in it. There was a certain thrill to it. Everyone was throwing themselves to reckless abandon. Why not embrace it after all?

None of them held back, which was to be expected.

There were moments he could hear Xaro's voice, telling him to hold strong and true. But those words eventually got muffled as Xaro got his mouth filled with another cock that was ready for another milking. Both of them were fucked to what felt like the edges of their lives, with Jacob taking the brunt of it. Fezo, Thel, and Tev made it very clear that they've developed xenophilia at some point of their lives, with Rtas being far more reserved. But even he was unable to resist the plumpness that was Jacob's ass. It was a novelty, but it was one they enjoyed tremendously.

After what felt like hours of countless orgasms and very much pushing to the wee hours of the morning, everyone was solidly spent. Except Jacob for some reason. He was a monster, able to take cock after cock like a man on a mission. If the Master Chief's goal was to take down the Covenant, his job was to make sure these men were thoroughly milked and emptied. Xaro wasn't even sure how Jacob was able to convince the five Sangheili in the room, but he succeeded and now he watched as Jacob proudly took all five of their cocks at the same time.

Jacob was in the middle, his entire body slick with sweat, cum, and other bodily fluids that at this point were no longer registering for him. His ass was numb, and his taste buds had ceased to function. He was surrounded on all sides. Fezo was underneath him, fucking him in the ass like jackhammer crashing down on hard pavement. On his right hand was Tev's cock, on the other was Thel's. Both Sangheili were being milked for all they were worth. Rtas at the front, his cock jammed down Jacob's gullet. It both baffled and amazed the Sangheili at Jacob's resiliency. Every orifice that was fuckable was filled to the brim. Xaro was right there with Fezo, who then was able to squeeze his equally sizable cock next to his companion. This elicited a sharp, yet muffled groan from the surprisingly stretchy human.

“By the rings, he's actually doing it!" Thel exclaimed, sounding like he was seeing a miracle for the first time happen right before his very eyes. They were like a well oiled machine. When one moved forward, the other moved back. A hump here, responded with a thrust there. Jacob was the cog that kept the seemingly perpetual motion machine moving.

“Jacob, please survive this," Xaro said, easing himself forward alongside everyone else.

It was as if there was fire burning that could be seen from Jacob's eyes. The man was seemingly possessed by the spirit of rutting, if there was ever a thing. His eyes had glazed over and all and all Xaro could see was nothing but pure determination powered by immaculate lust. Jacob was breathing heavily, focused solely on spreading his ass cheeks as wide as he could. It was one thing to take Sangheili cock. It was another to take two simultaneously. There was a point in time that he would have said this was a stupid idea. That he would have risked doing some serious harm to his body if he were to try to shove what would amount to two pieces of logs up his ass. That was when he was thinking with his brain. But now that all the blood in his head had gone to his cock, he was effectively thinking with his penis. And his penis said it was a terrific idea.

He groaned, moaned, and grunted, not necessarily in that order, as he continued to push himself to sit down on the two fat cocks that were fighting for space inside of him. His asscheeks spread as far as they could but he needed to spread them further. Pain was eminent but it was thanks to his calm breathing and focused mindset did he manage to get past it. He could hear Xaro's voice distantly, drowned out by the sound of the moaning around him. Jacob wasn't sure if Xaro was encouraging him or if he was telling him to stop for his safety.

Either way, Jacob didn't bother responding.

He was barely able to form coherent words to begin with. That and his mouth was filled with Rtas's cock. There wasn't any part of him that wasn't covered in cum or reeked of sweat and the smell of sex. His entire body must have been half Sangheili by the sheer amount of cum that was sloshing inside of him And there was more on the way as neither of the five men were able to hold much longer. It was hard to determine who shot first. But it was clear what came afterward. It was like a tidal wave of fresh hot seed washed over Jacob. Thel shot his spunk and Tev did his. Both sprayed him straight in the face. Rtas followed by jamming his cock further down his throat, forgetting at that moment that the he was fucking a real person rather than a toy. Fezo and Xaro came not long after. There was barely any space left inside Jacob's ass. If he wasn't bloated before, he was definitely bloated now. Shot after shot, strings of the gooey alien seed flew straight into Jacob and into his thoroughly used and abused hole.

What ultimately happened was a marriage trial for the ages.

They all collapsed on the bed, with Jacob smack dab in the middle. He was barely present, his mind clinging to the edges of his consciousness. His ass was as wide and gaping as a sewer pipe and was practically overflowing with Sangheili sperm. Xaro wondered if he was ever going to be able to cum again after that. Regardless, he was happy to have taken part of it with Jacob. He pulled his human closer, making sure to keep him safe and protected. Thel, perhaps the only other Sangheili still conscious at that moment, was able to see the scene and meet Xaro's eyes.

“Forerunner's smile upon you, Xaro," he said, sounding very tired and exhausted. “You two passed."

Xaro smiled.

He lost consciousness soon after.

0 = 0 = 0 = 0 = 0 = 0

Jacob found his worries and concerns ebbing as the days marched on. While he believed he and Xaro were well prepared for the marriage trial, there was a part of him that was still worried they were going to fail. Thankfully they didn't and now the only concern he had left was making appearances at the wedding that the UNSC and the Swords of Sanghelios were setting up. It was a lot to be honest, and he was thankful Brian was there to oversee almost everything. He didn't even have to worry who was going to be invited. It seemed that the UNSC had decided for him who was going to be there.

And so the day came.

The wedding itself was to take place in the grounds of Vadam Keep, early into the evening as the two suns were setting over the horizon. Everyone who was anyone was there. Political figures, important rank and personnel, and a few notable Earth celebrities; you'd be forgiven if you thought this was a conference of some sort and not actually a union between two individuals given the attendants. The security was tight, with both UNSC personnel and guards of the keep taking watch and making sure anyone who was going in was vetted and had an invitation.

It was a fairly solemn event with music playing and the guests enjoying themselves as they chatted with one another. Most of the Earth celebrities were enamored with what they saw, given that this was perhaps their first time being on Sanghelios, much less being in a Keep. A few reporters were nearby, writing up reports to say when they went live along with their cameramen capturing B-roll while nothing was happening.

At the back of the grand stage were the dressing rooms, with Xaro and Jacob being in their respective section. Xaro was busy getting dressed with the traditional garb worn by grooms of his species, while Jacob was the same, getting busy dressed in a tuxedo. It wasn't different from his usual attire so the novelty of wearing it had come and gone. In the dressing room with him, aside from the stylists, was Brian. Jacob saw that he was looking at the datapad on his hands, and his attention was focused on the earpiece he wore.

“Everything alright?" Jacob asked. It was weird to be in a situation that involved the UNSC but not know what was going on.

Brian turned to face him, his expression shifting to a neutral one. “Yeah, we're good. I've been hearing some reports about increased activity outside of the Keep. It seems that some Sangheili are not happy with the Arbiter's decision to host a marriage in his keep, much less have a marriage between a Sangheili and a human to begin with. We're making sure it doesn't escalate to anything more serious than demonstrations and protests."

That was an understatement. The days leading up to this moment were filled to the brim with demonstrations condemning the entire affair. It was odd to say the least as most of the Sangheili that lived in the Vadam State were in line with the Arbiter in a political sense. They were for the alliance, not against it. And the marriage was a good thing. So it baffled Jacob why the sudden turnabout of opinion. It wasn't adding up. Unless an outside force was riling up the detractors that have kept their heads low.

“Should I be concerned?"

“You'll be fine. We have this under control," Brian responded, smiling at him. “You just enjoy yourself."

Jacob nodded, turning back to look at his reflection in the mirror. The tuxedo fit him well. It felt weird to not see himself be armed with at least a weapon. He felt exposed. But perhaps that was his military training kicking in. It was a hard habit to forget. It was a habit that had saved him countless times. As Brian left the room, Jacob let out a thoughtful hum. There was a nagging sensation that kept gnawing at the back of his mind. He sighed. It was better to be safe than sorry. He walked out of the dressing room and went up to the nearest marine that stood guard and asked a question.

In the other room, Xaro was making sure the strap to his ceremonial armor was secured in place. It was an old piece of gear, surpassed both in technology and comfort. It must have made sense back in the day, when the weapons of the time were sticks, spears, and the reliable fists. Still, he understood the gravitas it had and the notion that he was wearing a traditional Vadam ceremonial armor, something he never expected he ever would in his life. His previous clan was far too small to have such things. There was a knock on the door and he turned around to see it was Thel. He was wearing his recognizable Arbiter armor.

“It suits you," Thel said.

“Thanks."

“Are you ready?"

Xaro thought for a moment. He looked back at his reflection in the mirror. There was honestly nothing for him to be worried about. Today was his and Jacob's day. And nothing was going to change that. “I am."

“Let's get it started, shall we?"

Music began to play, while a Sangheili priest appeared on stage, informing everyone to get into their seats as the ceremony was to begin. Since both of them were men, Xaro opted to be the groom in the scenario, while Jacob was the bride. Jacob always wanted to know what it was like to walk down the aisle. The lights began to dim and focused on the necessary areas. There was a short silence, followed by soft music as Jacob entered the fray. Before all of this, Jacob was nervous. He was worried that things were going to go wrong. The gnawing feeling at the back of his head didn't go away. But as he walked down the aisle, he felt calm and at ease. Maybe he was indeed overreacting. He didn't have anything to worry about as Xaro was right there with him.

He joined Xaro, smiling proudly at how dashing his mate looked. “You cleaned up well."

Xaro chuckled. “It's a bit tight around the crotch though."

The Sangheili priest cleared his throat, gathering everyone's attention.

“We are gathered here today to witness a momentous occasion. Two individuals whose love burns so bright that not even their differences, be it physical or otherwise, would stop them from being with each other. I, a humble priest, invoke the Forerunner's blessing so that these two may find favor in their lives going forward." He then produced what Jacob recognized was an energy sword. Or at least, a replica of it. It was a genuine blade made of metal. The sheen on it was remarkable. “And so, in the eyes of the Forerunners, please answer my questions as straight and true."

The priest looked at Xaro from behind the mask he wore. “Xaro Vadam, do you take Jacob Lane as your partner for the many years to come, despite the trials and tribulations that may lay before you?"

Jacob looked at Xaro. Vadam? Since when did Xaro become part of Clan Vadam? He figured to ask Xaro about this later.

“I do," Xaro answered.

The priest then turned to Jacob. “Jacob Lane, do you take Xaro Vadam as your partner for the many years to come, despite the trials and tribulations that may lay before you?"

Jacob took a deep breath. This was where it all led up to. After this, they had nothing else to worry about. They were going to be official, and it was one for the history books. “I do," he answered firmly.

The priest nodded. He raised the ceremonial energy sword. “You have spoken your truths to the Forerunners and they have listened. Let today be a momentous day, for the union of these two individuals are strong and true. In the sight of the Forerunners and these witnesses…" He turned to look at each of them. “I now pronounce you mates for life!" The priest allowed himself to smile as this was the moment he was waiting for. He looked at Jacob.

“You may now die!"

It all happened so fast, barely anyone had time to react.

In one swift motion the sword came down, the priest effectively stabbing Jacob straight through the abdomen. Xaro saw the blade cut through cleanly, the blade appearing behind Jacob's back. The human's eyes bulged out and it took a moment for him to register that he now had a sizable hole going through his body. The priest removed it, taking off his hood in the process to reveal who he was.

“Vuze?!" Xaro cried out in a mixture of clashing emotions.

“You don't get to be happy, Xaro!" Vuze cried out.

Jacob collapsed like a sack of potatoes on the floor, lifeless and unmoving. Xaro quickly went to him, checking to see if he was alright. By now, everyone managed to recover from the shock of what transpired and quickly drew out their weapons, aiming them at Vuze. The Sangheili however was smart enough to know this, and produced two smoke bombs from his pocket. He threw them on the floor, producing thick black smoke that obscured everyone's vision. By the time it cleared, Vuze was gone. Along with this, the sound of explosions occurred not too far from the Keep, followed by ringing gunshots. It was all a mess.

Xaro was in too much of a shock to register all of this. He could barely feel Jacob's pulse in his hand. Blood was spilling everywhere. It wasn't looking good. “MEDIC!" he cried out. Humans, both in uniform and civilian clothing rushed over to him. He recognized some of their faces. One had a medical kit and was rushing to get the first aid applied. “Get him out of here!" one of them shouted, and Xaro realized they were talking about him when he was dragged away.

“No! I want to be with him!" Xaro said, trying to fight the people that were holding back.

“Calm yourself! Calm yourself, Xaro!"

“Let go of me! I'll kill anyone who stops me!"

“Then kill Vuze!"

Xaro stopped. The name was enough to placate him. He turned around to see it was both Thel and a human officer that was holding him back. He recognized the human as Brian Clarke, the ONI individual who organized the entire wedding. “Kill Vuze," Brian repeated. “My men are tracking him down as we speak."

“Give me the coordinates," Xaro said, anger boiling in his blood. “I'll gut him to pieces."

“I would like to accompany you, but I have other pressing matters to attend to," Thel said, turning his attention to the sound of gunshots and plasma barrages happening outside the keep. “It seems Vuze didn't plan this by himself."

“Here," Brian said. He tossed Xaro a plasma pistol, a portable shield, as well as an energy sword. “I'll inform my men that you're coming. They can point you to where he's hiding."

Xaro armed himself, strapping the weapons to his body. He turned to look at Jacob who was still being attended to by the medical crew. “I'll be back, Jacob. Hang in there." The last thing Xaro wanted was to leave Jacob behind. But he knew full well that if Vuze lived, their lives would forever be tormented by him. He needed to be ended, right here, right now.

It wasn't long until Xaro boarded a transport and was whisked off to the coordinates handed to him by Brian. Fighting had broken out all over the Keep. It would seem that Vuze's plan was to disrupt the wedding and use it as the signal to begin a militant coup. Throughout the days leading up to the wedding, he had organized and managed to recruit the Sangheili who still harbored ill will toward humanity. They were out in full force, shooting the keep guards who were trying to save the civilians who were caught in the crossfire. The UNSC that were deployed as security for the wedding joined in as well, fighting alongside the Vadam warriors to quell back the uprising. Xaro would have opted to be fighting alongside them. But his mission was far too important.

They managed to track down Vuze's hideout. It was at the elaborate cave systems that were situated at the base of the mountains not far from Vadam Keep. They knew they were in the right place when the cruiser Xaro rode on started getting shot at by turrets that were placed at the ridges. At that moment, Xaro's mind shifted from being an ambassador, to being the seasoned warrior that he was prior. All his training kicked in, and he began shooting back through the open window and landing headshots like it was the easiest thing in the world. The UNSC marines that were with them cheered and whooped, but he knew full well that this was only the beginning.

Evidently, they were stopped by a barricade. For Xaro however, it looked more like a last ditch effort to try and fortify themselves. It wasn't going to stop him. Even if he had to go to the ends of the planet to get Vuze, he would do it. It was one thing to try and ruin his wedding. It was another to try and kill his mate.

The UNSC marines were there to back him up but it looked like they were just there as set dressing as the vengeful Sangheili looked like he could take on an entire armada if he had to. He was a whirling tornado, taking down other Sangheili with precision accuracy and deadly efficiency.

The fighting continued. Explosions echoed across the land, accompanied by flashes of gunfire and grenades. “We'll watch your back, Xaro!" one of the marines said, setting up a defensive position by the mouth of a cave. This was the final one. Topography scans showed that it was a dead end. One of them was walking out of this alive, and Xaro was going to make sure it was him.

“Kill anyone that runs out of here that isn't me."

With that, he turned on his energy sword and charged forward.

Xaro ran through the hordes and groups of Sangheili that were hell bent on stopping him. They tried valiantly but their efforts were for naught as they were cut down swiftly. He tossed away the plasma pistol he was carrying, the battery completely spent and unable to fire once more. He picked up a plasma rifle from a dead enemy, loaded up some grenades, and headed into the next area ahead of him. It was a spacious cavern, and Vuze was right there in the middle.

“Ah, finally, my arch nemesis has arrived," Vuze said, standing upright to face Xaro. He was armed with a similar loadout from when they first fought: kinetic pistols and his trustworthy energy blade. “And here I was thinking you were going to be crying in agony over the death of your mate." The last words sounded like acid as Vuze hated the very thought of it. “Where's your honor, Xaro?" He turned on the energy sword and pointed it menacingly at him.

Xaro took a deep breath to center himself. He needed to do this properly. If he was going to rid himself of this demon, he needed to make sure he was dead and dealt with accordingly. He activated his own energy sword. He looked at Vuze with anger, contempt, and even pity.

“What? Nothing to say after all these years? I'm surprised you're not even a little happy to see me. Then again, I suppose it's expected given that you're nothing but smitten by that human." Vuze tapped his chin. “It was nice to see him though. Even better when I saw the light leave his eyes."

A shot of plasma hit Vuze square in the chest. His shields crackled, and he could see on his own HUD that he was knocked down fifty percent. “Don't you dare talk about Jacob that way."

“Why? Is he that important to you?" Vuze asked. His shields began to recharge. “Is he the only thing that really matters to you now? You could have chosen anyone else you know. You could have chosen a Kig-Yar, or even an Unggoy. But a human?" Vuze spat on the floor. “That is just despicable." His shields were now back up to one hundred percent. Vuze's hand slipped down to his holstered gun and freed it. He placed his fingers on the trigger. “But don't worry. You'll be joining him soon enough."

Vuze fired his kinetic gun at Xaro, with Xaro dodging out of the way just in the nick of time. The wall behind him cracked under the sheer force of the kinetic blast. He countered by firing at Vuze who took cover. Xaro pressed his offense by throwing a grenade at Vuze, trying to flush him out from his hiding spot. Vuze jumped out of the way, launching himself upwards to the ceiling with the help of his kinetic pistol, followed by diving straight at Xaro. The two clashed, their blades trading blows. Xaro pushed him off, making Vuze fly back a few paces from him, a bit off kilter. Xaro used this chance to rush him, and the two began to trade blows.

A deadly dance of close quarters combat followed. Xaro used everything in his arsenal: his sword, rifle, down to even his grenades. He sliced, fired, and at times threw explosions straight at Vuze to try and kill him. But Vuze wasn't going down without a fight. He countered, and even went so far as to use what Xaro threw at him to his advantage. There was one point where Xaro threw a grenade, and Vuze shot it back at him with the kinetic pistol. Xaro ducked just in time to cover himself from the explosion that followed.

It was a fight to the death and there could only be one winner. And Xaro was fighting not only for himself, but for Jacob as well. Vuze was fighting to kill him and had reckless abandon. Xaro had something to live for. He knew Jacob was fighting for his life to make sure he saw his husband again. Xaro was going to make sure he was there when the human opened his eyes once more. By the end of it, their weapons were out of energy and they were getting tired. Xaro had cuts and bruises all over him, and the same could be said for Vuze. The fight was coming to its climax and a winner was about to be crowned. Xaro and Vuze stared each other down, blades both at the ready. One strike was all they needed to take the other off the board. Vuze rushed forward, swinging his sword in an attempt to bring everything down on Xaro. But the Sangheili parried the blade, sending it up into the air, before it clattered down onto the floor deactivating itself. A swift kick, a fast stab, followed by the sound of choking dictated who won the fight.

Vuze struggled to breathe. His legs quivered and he could feel a numbing sensation wash over his entire body. Xaro held him in place, placing a hand on his shoulder to support him. Vuze could feel his wrist going limp, followed by the rest of his body. It was becoming a challenge to stand. His vision began to cloud. The last thing he saw was Xaro.

“Goodbye, old friend."

Xaro turned the energy blade off.

Vuze collapsed to the ground lifelessly.

0 = 0 = 0 = 0 = 0 = 0

Time passed.

Xaro tapped his foot impatiently as he sat on the plastic chair. He looked at the clock on the wall, telling him the time he had spent so far in the hospital. He tried to calm himself, knowing full well that everything was going to be alright. The people looking over Jacob were the best in the business and the best the UNSC had assigned to them. But there was a part of him that was worried. He couldn't help it. When it came to matters that involved Jacob, he gave it his full attention.

The medical doors opened and out came the love of his life. Jacob walked with a slight limp, supported with the help of a cane, but he looked sprightly and alive given that he was in an argument with the physical therapist that was scolding him for walking around.

“Mr. Lane! Please! You need to sit down."

“I'm fine! For goodness sake, I was a doctor at one point. I'm well aware of what I can and can't do given my circumstances."

“Should you be out and about like this?" Xaro said, making his presence known.

“Don't you start with me too," Jacob said, lightly punching Xaro's chest. “This isn't my first physical therapy session. I can do jumping jacks if needed."

Xaro looked at the therapist and they just responded with an annoyed sigh. “Well, I suppose we are nearing the end of the session anyway. I'll go sign the documents to mark the completion of it."

Xaro smiled. It was actually Jacob's own actions that ultimately saved his life. Prior to the attempted murder, Jacob recounted that he had a bad feeling that something terrible was going to happen. Perhaps it was his military training kicking in, informing him to always expect the worst. And whenever there was anything serious going down in an event, especially if said event was viewed to be a political gathering, violence wasn't far from it. It was why he asked that marine if they had first aid kits nearby. It was an odd question and looking back it was well worth pointing out. They didn't have any on hand and it was only because he specifically requested to have one on standby, did it ultimately lead to his life being saved. The biofoam helped fill the stab wound and stopped him from bleeding out.

Xaro felt ashamed for not thinking of their own safety. He didn't know what he was going to do if the human hadn't survived. Jacob was his world now, and it was hard to see him continuing to exist without him by his side. Jacob saw the Sangheili staring at him wistfully and wondered what was up. “You're staring again."

“I apologize."

“Are you thinking about the wedding again? About what you could have done?"

“I, Jacob, I just…"

“Stop."

Xaro looked at him. Jacob placed a hand on his shoulder. “I'm not going to disappear, Xaro."

“I know."

“And I don't blame you for what happened. It's not your fault for forgetting to think that something bad was going to happen. You had other things on your mind. Like getting married to me!"

Xaro smiled wryly. “Still, as your mate, I could have done better."

“And as your mate, I forgive you. You're not perfect, Xaro, and I don't expect you to be. You're not even human and you act better than some humans I know."

“I…thank you."

“Oh come here, you big lug." Jacob pulled Xaro close to give him a strong hug. He then placed a light peck on one of his mandibles. “Let's head home."

The drive home was peaceful. Xaro took the wheel and happily listened to Jacob as he ranted about what the therapists had him doing to test if he still had good motor functions. It was a fun banter, with Xaro piping in every now and then. It was a good way to break the ice as they drove back to their humble abode. The topic of conversation shifted when they saw a cruiser parked outside their house.

“Ah, there they are," came the voice of Thel. He was standing next to two certain individuals that were admiring the garden that Jacob managed in his free time. He wasn't allowed to go back to his ambassadorial duties as he was still officially recovering from his injuries, so he needed something to distract himself.

“To what do I owe the pleasure, Arbiter?" Xaro asked, stepping out of the vehicle. He quickly turned back and assisted Jacob who still needed some slight help to get out.

“I am merely conducting a courtesy call," Thel responded. He then motioned to the two individuals he was with who joined them. Xaro noted that while one was a male Sangheili, the other was a female UNSC marine, specifically a Spartan. It was difficult to ignore the intimidating armor she was wearing. “This is Spartan Sarah Palmer, and Shipmaster Vel 'Trokaik. They're both here to give you their well wishes as well as ask for advice."

“It's an honor to speak with you," Vel said, giving the equivalent Sangheili salute.

“Likewise." Sarah said, introducing herself with a salute. “And I must say, I'm impressed that you were able to have a garden here on Sanghelios of all places. I thought it would be near impossible given the climate."

Jacob chuckled. “Well, if there's one thing you should know about me, it's that I have a track record of being able to accomplish the impossible. And survive the impossible, at that."

Sarah nodded. “I am well aware, sir. What you did was a courageous thing. Your actions have affected the galaxy and have changed the trajectory of lives. Your wedding is one for the history books. It gave Vel the courage to give me a love poem."

“The two of them are part of the selected individuals to continue the interspecies program. They'll be sailing on the Ever Marching," Thel added. “Do you two have any parting advice for both of them?"

Jacob and Xaro looked at each other. Jacob cracked a smile. “Make sure to use lubrication."

The comment earned him a hearty laugh from everyone. “I'm serious though!" Jacob added, once everyone calmed down. “That sort of thing is very important."

Eventually, Thel and company had to take their leave. Jacob and Xaro waved goodbye as the cruiser sped down the street, heading back to the main city. The evening was fairly quiet. A light dinner was had and before long, both of them were in their beds, enjoying each other's company as they entertained themselves while watching television. Jacob's eyes darted to one of the picture frames they had on the wall. It was a picture of both he and Xaro in their wedding outfits. This was taken prior to them walking down the aisle. A captured peaceful moment before everything went to hell. Jacob thought back to the wedding ceremony proper. That was when something popped into his head.

"Why didn't you tell me?"

"Tell you what?"

"About your clan. That you were stripped of your name so I could be with you."

"Oh, that." Xaro sighed, taking a moment to choose the right words to say. "I suppose it didn't concern you so I figured not to tell you at the time."

"But isn't being part of a clan important for a Sangheili?"

"It is. Bringing glory to your clan is perhaps the greatest thing you can do outside of the Great Journey. Past me would have been devastated if I was told I was no longer part of the Zaram clan. But now it's different." Xaro held Jacob's hand. "None of it matters now. You're the only thing that matters to me, Jacob. You are my mate after all."

"I…that means a lot to me," Jacob answered. "I suppose it just caught me off guard when I heard that information."

"It is understandable."

"Though I suppose the fact that you are now part of clan Vadam is a better upgrade I take it?"

Xaro let out a smile. "I would be lying if I said I wasn't happy about that."

"Is that the only thing you're happy about?"

Xaro held Jacob's hands once more and leaned in to kiss him. The two shared a tender moment with each other. "Maybe. Having you as a partner is another thing I'm happy about."

Jacob chuckled. "I thought that was already a given."

"It's more official this time."

"So, are there any traditions you guys do after a wedding? I don't think we ever got to do any of it given how things ended."

"I told you that there is one."

“But I couldn't do it until I've recovered from my injuries, right?"

“Exactly."

“So, can we do it now? I'm definitely more physical now. And the therapist has told me that I should get more exercise."

Xaro thought for a moment then shrugged. “Sure. Though, I think you'll be disappointed by what it is. Newly weds must consummate their relationship for it to be seen as valid in the eyes of the forerunners."

Jacob's brow rose. He looked disappointed. "Really? But haven't we been doing that countless times already?"

“I don't hear a no coming from you."

Jacob rolled his eyes. “Come here you big lug. Let's give the forerunners a show they won't ever forget."

Jacob leaned in, this time pushing himself closer to Xaro as he pressed his face against his. Jacob's lips met with Xaro's mandibles and the two wrestled for control with one another as their tongues danced with each other. It was heated, but it was also filled with intimacy. Their hands caressed each other's body, before eventually meeting with each other. They held hands, fingers intertwining itself with one another as they continued their long drawn out kiss. It was a solid minute or two before they broke apart, cheeks flushed red, and both were breathing heavily. Jacob actually felt the sweat drip down the side of his face.

“Let's get more comfortable," Xaro said.

He gently pushed Jacob to sit upright and helped him undress. He started off with Jacob's shirt, pulling it above the human's head and tossing it towards the side. Xaro let his free hand roam across Jacob's broad chest, taking note of the scar that was now evident on his abdomen. “Does it hurt?" he asked him, gently prodding the skin with his fingers.

“Not anymore," Jacob answered. He then helped Xaro undress as well, helping him remove the tunic he was wearing. Xaro tossed it towards the side, and Jacob used this chance to momentarily lay his head on Xaro's broad chest. It was comforting to just listen to the beat of his two hearts. Jacob noted the scar that was also on Xaro's abdomen. “It just occurred to me that we're now scar buddies."

“I hope we don't add anymore to them."

Jacob let out a sigh. “Same here. Do you think the fighting would ever stop?"

“I'd rather be an optimist and say yes. You saw Sarah and Val. The momentum is already there. What we only need is time."

“True." Jacob opted to kiss Xaro's chest. “In the end, love wins, right?'

Xaro looked down at him. “Love always wins."

Jacob smiled, continuing to plant loving kisses down Xaro's chest. He took his sweet time, knowing full well that there was no rush. They had the evening all to themselves. He was still on sick leave, and Xaro didn't have work the day after. The night was young and was theirs for the taking. He continued going lower and lower, taking note of the leathery texture. It wasn't long until his nose bumped into the familiar hump that was Xaro's crotch. He was still wearing his shorts, but he didn't need to be naked for Jacob to know what he was packing. Jacob snaked a finger down the Sangheili's shorts, along with his underwear, and began to pull down. It took a little bit of effort and Xaro had to move his hips upwards to help tug the shorts down but eventually the monster that was Xaro's cock greeted him.

“Your infatuation with my penis never ceases to amuse me." Xaro watched as Jacob played with the hardening flesh, tapping his fingers on the base, before moving upwards to flick at the tip. The blood began to rush down his groin and the member began to inflate. Xaro could see the hunger in Jacob's eyes. It was expected. Jacob had expressed interest in having sex once before but it was Xaro who turned him down. He was worried that Jacob was going to hurt himself given that he still needed to recover from his injuries. Now, Jacob didn't let up and continued, leaning in to plant a loving kiss on Xaro's now stiff member.

The Sangheili let out a content sigh. There were many pleasures to be had in life. This was definitely one of them. Xaro let Jacob continue, leaning back on the bed and happily watching the human go to town on his cock. Jacob for his part decided to take it nice and slow. He started off by kissing the base, before slowly but surely moving upward. He went up one side, before going back down the other. He was like a pilgrim, making sure to worship the temple that was Xaro's body. His efforts were soon rewarded when the tip of Xaro's penis began to leak. Jacob lapped it up and loved the taste of it. It was admittedly something he had been craving for quite some time.

Jacob then increased his efforts, opening his mouth wide to suckle on Xaro's cock. The Sangheili just had his eyes closed, taking deep breaths to slowly pace himself. It wouldn't do him any good to blow right now. Jacob used his tongue to swirl it on and around the cock tip, making sure every inch of it was given the necessary love that it deserved. He was rewarded with more pre, to the point that some of it began to drip down the sides. With his hands free, Jacob used them to grab hold of Xaro's balls. They were plump and heavy, making them easy to squeeze and fondle. He noted their fatness and pried himself away from Xaro's penis long enough to comment. “You haven't been jerking off, have you?"

Xaro looked at him. “What do you think?" In truth, he wasn't. Xaro had been too busy worrying about Jacob's well being to even think of anything remotely sexual.

“Oh you poor thing," Jacob said, realizing that Xaro could have been suffering from blue balls. “Let's empty them."

As if to emphasize his point, Jacob went back to sucking on Xaro's cock, except this time with renewed vigor and intensity. He gobbled it down like his life depended on it. He used his free hands to stroke the now throbbing piece of flesh in his hands, making Xaro grip the bed sheet tightly. His breathing became labored, and he could feel the tell tale signs of his ejaculation nearing. He didn't have time to warn Jacob as the human seemed hell bent on making him blow right then and there.

Xaro ejaculated a moment or so later. A barrage of fluids jettisoning itself from the tip of his penis straight down Jacob's throat. The human was caught off guard but nonetheless recovered perfectly, gulping it down like a man thirsty for the viscous liquid. Xaro's penis continued to throb and with each throb sending more and more of the white spunk outwards. The excess dribbled down the side of Jacob's mouth, and onto the bed sheet. The room began to smell distinctly of male scent and Jacob needed a moment to orient himself as the powerful odor made his head feel like it was swimming. The hot seed left a bitter after taste in his mouth as he continued to gulp it down. It took a moment for both of them to regain their composure.

Jacob wiped the remaining bits off his mouth and crawled up once again. This time he met face to face with Xaro and the two shared a sloppy, slow kiss. Xaro could taste his own seed in his mouth. It was just as he expected, sweet, yet bitter. They eventually broke apart, a line of spit momentarily connecting them before breaking apart. It was Jacob who broke the silence.

“Is that good enough for the forerunners?"

Xaro chuckled. “I'm not sure. What do you think?"

Jacob glanced down. If there was one thing amazing about Sangheili, it was that unlike humans, they definitely had more than one round in the chamber. Despite having ejaculated just seconds prior, Xaro was still hard and stiff as a rock. Jacob placed a hand on Xaro's penis, his fingers easily slipping up and down because of the excess cum from earlier.

“I think we need to consummate more."

Jacob and Xaro soon found themselves doing the horizontal tango. However in an effort to change things up, Jacob this time opted to do the fucking. It would seem Xaro's marriage trial expanded his horizons. After thoroughly experiencing the wonders that was anal sex, he understood why Jacob enjoyed it so much and wanted to have that level of fun as well. Jacob was more than happy to provide. He was obviously not as big as Xaro. No human could ever possibly compare to their physique. But for Xaro, he was more than enough.

“You probably have the fattest Sangheili ass I have ever seen," Jacob said, slapping Xaro's backside as he continued to hump him. Xaro was on all fours, ass up, face down on the pillows. Jacob held him in place by placing his hands on Xaro's waist.

“I do hope that's a good thing."

“It is." Jacob took a moment to steady himself and catch his breath. “It most definitely is."

“Can I ask why?"

The question caught Jacob off guard. He stopped his thrusts midway and looked at Xaro. “What do you mean?'

“Why is having a fat ass a good thing?"

“Because it is?" Jacob wasn't really sure how to answer the question. It was like trying to ask someone why they were gay. They just were. There was no reasoning behind it. “I can't honestly tell you. I just find it very attractive." He fondled Xaro's cock and proceeded to milk him, earning Jacob a low moan from the Sangheili.

“I suppose the feeling is mutual."

Unfortunately for Jacob, his stamina wasn't as long lived as Xaro's. He could never last as long as Xaro did, and it was plainly obvious when he felt the telltale signs of his cock throbbing. With a satisfied growl, he ejaculated into Xaro's ass, filling the Sangheili with his human spunk. He kept humping away, trying to ride the final moments of his orgasm, before slowing down, out of breath and a bit winded. He laid next to Xaro on the bed, letting his orgasm wash over him. Xaro reached over to Jacob's cock and stroked it, getting some of the human's seed onto his hands. He then put it up to his mouth and got himself a taste.

“You taste amazing."

“I try to keep a healthy diet."

Xaro chuckled. “But I think now it's my turn."

“It's only fair," Jacob said, raising his feet up. “Take me, my mate."

“With pleasure."

Jacob soon found himself lying flat on his back, his legs hoisted up and supported by Xaro. The larger alien was humping away at his backside, no longer needing much lubrication as his cum from earlier was all he needed. Xaro started off with some light thrusts, holding Jacob in place and watching happily as the human's eyes started to zone out the more thrusts he did. They had done this numerous times before. And yet, the magic never stopped for either of them. If anything, it only burned brighter as time marched on. Jacob was the human Xaro fell in love with, and there wasn't anything in the world that was going to make him stop loving the man.

Jacob for his part felt content and at peace. Xaro's cock impaling him felt perfect. It felt like the right thing he needed after the doldrums of physical therapy. Xaro fucked him nice and slow. Too slow for his taste, but they can always change it up later. Right now, he was happy to be where he was. He looked up at Xaro, with the alien looking back at him. Their eyes met, and they both smiled at each other. No words were spoken as none were needed. Their eyes said it all. Xaro leaned down and interrupted his humping to plant a kiss on Jacob's lips. This was more slow and sincere, punctuated by Xaro continuing to hump the human again a few seconds later. The gentle slap of human skin hitting against the Sangheili skin slowly filled the room. Xaro increased his pace. They shifted from being in their current position, to the one where Xaro was laying on the bed next to Jacob. He was spooning the human from behind. He held his arms around his waist, and used his other hand to support the human's backside. His cock pistoned in and out of Jacob's ass. He was so enthusiastic that it popped out at one point.

Jacob had to reach down and help Xaro fix his aim. The Sangheili popped back into him like a puzzle piece that fell right into place. The two continued in this position for a solid minute, the bed rocking back and forth. The bedframe creaked and the mattress springs groaned underneath their enthusiastic action. Jacob cursed under his breath, finding it more and more difficult to hold on. Xaro was hitting him right where it mattered and each thrust sent him shivering. He was seeing stars and his cock rightfully throbbed in tune to the beat of his own heart. His grip on the pillow tightened to the point where the whites on his knuckles showed. He ejaculated unceremoniously not long after. His cock throbbed and jettisoned cum left and right.

“Fucking hell…"

Jacob gasped when he felt a hand wrap itself around his still ejaculating penis. He held his breath as Xaro jerked him off. Being overly sensitive already, he was left speechless as his body was bombarded with heightened pleasure. It didn't help that Xaro increased his pace once more, now relentlessly fucking him. Jacob held on for dear life. By the end of it, he was a complete mess, sweating and completely out of breath. Xaro now held Jacob down. He grabbed him by the waist and fucked his human, with Jacob reaching back and wrapping his arms around the back of his own thighs. Up, down, up, down, in and out, in and out, his cock slid back and forth from the human's by now well worn asshole. There wasn't much Jacob could do but just take it. Not that he wanted anything else than that.

Xaro rested his head on Jacob's shoulders and lightly nibbled on his neck. The familiar throbbing soon came and he felt the blood rushing to his cock. Xaro ran his mouth across Jacob's shoulder before biting down relatively hard at the base of Jacob's neck. It was strong enough to draw blood but not strong enough to do any more damage than that. He accompanied this by pumping Jacob filled to the brim with his white hot seed. Xaro ejaculated everything his balls had inside him into Jacob's ass. The sheer volume of it meant that some leaked out. Xaro held Jacob for what felt like an eternity in a lover's embrace.

Once the excitement came and went, the two stayed together like, content to just hear each other breathe. It was Jacob that first moved. He slowly removed Xaro's cock lodged inside of him, the excess cum bubbling out and leaking down the sides of his legs. He turned to face him, and rested his head on Xaro's chest. The two laid on the bed side by side, having each other as company.

“I hope that was more than enough to satisfy them," he eventually said, breaking the silence between them.

Xaro patted him on the back. “I think with everything we've done and accomplished, I'm sure they're more than satisfied."

Jacob looked up at Xaro and smiled. Never in his life did Jacob imagine that he would be with Xaro. It seemed like such a farfetched idea. Two alien species that had nothing in common, yet developing a bond so strong that they were making history each day they woke up. They were the ambassadors for two species that were hell bent on fighting each other to extinction. It was a scary thought. The future was uncertain. Things could change. Humanity and Sangheili may never reconcile their differences. But Jacob was at least certain of one thing.

Jacob, despite being human, was happy to be with Xaro, a Sangheili.

And even if the galaxy disagreed with him, they could rot for all he cared.

“I love you."

“I know, Xaro. You married me, remember?"

“I still want to tell you."

Jacob leaned in and pressed his forehead against Xaro's.

“You don't have to tell me, Xaro. You already make me feel that you do."
