Now back in the safety of the city, Farah takes some time to introduce Kaida to some of the delicacies of civilization. The tension of thorny Unseelie fae may have been alleviated, but Kaida has... other things on his mind~.

Finally, a new chapter! Also, I lost my old title image and I dunno where it went, so have a new one. >.>

Soren floated in a haze of mindless bliss. The room around him had melted away into a pleasant emptiness, the soft bed below cushioning his descent into the depths of Farah’s words while she crooned to him in a soft, comforting monotone. The hypnotic light whirling above framed the half-elven girl’s face, her deep green eyes gazing down into him, keeping him anchored to the peaceful world she’d lulled him into.

“And as you sink into the bed, allowing the covers to embrace you, you feel your body grow warm and heavy. Like the gentle embrace of sleep, or a pleasant daydream, you let your thoughts wander. Whisked away on the bands of colors, allowing my voice to pull you… deeper down.” Farah accentuated those last two words with a gentle caress of her friend’s cheek. Soren’s breaths came slow and deep, and he let out the tiniest little sound of contentment. She couldn’t help but smile. “Good boy, Soren. So receptive.”

Beside Farah sat Kaida, the dragon’s eyes transfixed upon Soren’s supine frame—because if he let himself look up into the swirling mana above the rabbit’s head, he’d probably lose himself to it as well. And as fun as that sounded, this trance was for Soren, and he’d respect that. Still, he found the process so fascinating. Listening to Farah speak in that calm, purposely measured tone, a droning voice that slipped through the cracks in the conscious mind like white noise, until the waking mind drifted off to a half-sleep and left the subconscious wide awake and attentive. A devious thing, these hypnosis spells! He’d have to try learning one for… reasons.

“Safe in bed.” Farah crooned. “Away from the perils of the outside. Allowing my words to encircle you like soft, feathery tendrils.” She paused when a little giggle bubbled up from Soren’s lips, his tone so sleepy, so relaxed! “Caressing you and gently tickling.” Another giggle, a bit louder this time. Farah giggled a bit herself, but quickly dropped her tone back to its dream-inducing quality. “Yes, good boy..! So giggly and happy. So comfy. And as those tendrils hold you so gently, but so firmly, they root you to the truth of my words. Allowing them to stick inside your mind like a sugary syrup, so tasty and sweet that you can’t get enough of them.”

“Mnnhhhehehe… heh…” Soren’s expression was the definition of giddy bliss, a wide but lazy smile spread across his lips. Furry cheeks were flushed pink, and Kaida couldn’t see a single tense muscle in the boy’s nude upper body. All his wounds had been treated and bandaged, but the chirurgeons had done little to ease the burdens on his mind. That’s where Farah came in.

The half-elf continued, fingers delicately petting through his cheek fur. “A truth you cannot deny. A truth that cannot be taken away from you. The truth that you are safe. Away from the pain of captivity. Away from the harm inflicted upon you.” Soren’s smile faded slightly, and Kaida expected Farah to turn the focus away from that idea. Instead, she zeroed in on it. “Yes, bad things happened. You were scared. You were angry, sad, and hopeless. But you’re past that now.” Fingers combed through the rabbit’s hair, eliciting a soft, sleepy croon from his lips. “The woods are behind you. The thorns relegated to fuzzy memories. In the present, they may give you pause, but in time they will make you stronger. Faster. More resilient. But they are past. They are past.”

Soren’s struggle with reality had been a challenge for the healers. He’d gotten so jumpy when they so much as mentioned casting spells to heal him, and it almost seemed as if he’d developed some sort of magic phobia after what the fae had done to him. He might have only been their prisoner for a week, but time was a strange thing in Blackrose Throne. Days stretched on into weeks, and a week might feel like a year or longer. Soren’s trauma stuck deeper than the thorns that had pierced his skin and fur, and most chirurgeons weren’t equipped to deal with mental anguish.

“They are past. You are here, with me, in this bed, in this room. Nothing outside matters. Nothing in the past can harm you, and I’ll protect you here in the present and into the future. Safe, secure, and protected. Good boy.” She giggled when that smile widened again, and she brushed both hands through her friend’s hair. “Good boy, oooh good boy..! You like being a good boy?”

Soren responded only with a sleepy squeak of a laugh, and Kaida suppressed a snicker. He didn’t know Soren very well, but the bunny didn’t come off as the ‘good boy’ type. Seeing him all zoned out and giggling at Farah’s every praise definitely shed new light upon the rogue’s persona. And also made Kaida just a little bit envious. He’d been in this position before, albeit under more compromising circumstances. Some part of him pined for another session under Farah’s sway.

By the time that thought had crossed Kaida’s mind, Farah had worked Soren up into a fit of sleepy giggles, and without even so much as touching a ticklish spot! All she had to do was croon to him about how good he was, and how sleepy and comfy and empty she’d gotten him. And she was laughing with him, having completely lost her droning hypnotist’s tone to the joyous reality of having saved her best friend from an eternity of torture. “And as you drift away into restful slumber, this feeling will stay with you. The feeling of peace and safety, knowing that you truly are past that horrible experience. So, Soren…” she crooned, slowly bringing a finger between the rabbit’s eyes, causing them to cross to focus on it. “Sleep now.”

Those heavy eyelids fluttered shut, and Kaida struggled not to blush at the sight. Such intimate control and total trust between friends… It was wholesome and sweet, sure, but there was no separating this sight from the memory of what she’d done to him while he was hypnotized. As dangerous as it was to think about such depravity in polite company, the images just wouldn’t leave his mind!

“C’mon, Kaida.” Farah whispered, pulling him away from lewd memories for the moment. She led him out of the room and shut the door quietly. They’d roomed up at an inn like they always did; adventurers typically got discounts as long as they were well-behaved and did work for the city, so it just made sense with their current monetary situation. Farah brought Kaida downstairs, then finally stretched herself out, popping joints and groaning in the bliss of extending her tired muscles. “You’d be surprised how physical a session like that is. Trying not to move too fast, holding the same posture for so long…”

“Fucking dragons while doing it—”

“Shush!” the half-elf blushed and bapped him on the nose. “What are you thinking, saying that out loud and in public?”

“Sorry, sorry.” he snickered. Really, he ought to know better—he was liable to make himself dumb and horny just thinking about it.

Farah rolled her eyes. But she balanced out the little swat to his snout with a gentle ear-scritch. No one else was in the lobby, at least. “You’re forgiven, pervy dragon.” She idly rubbed her bare tummy as the all too familiar sensation of hunger began to gnaw at her. “I do believe it’s lunch time.”

“Far be it from me to argue!”

“Well I know I don’t need to ask if you’re hungry, you little bag of holding.” The elven lass grinned and hurried out the door, with Kaida trailing behind and grumbling about how he didn’t eat THAT much.

Outside, the sprawl of the city of Erdwel came immediately into view. The inn sat at the edge of the town square, where people busily hurried along to shop, work, and mill about for some reason or another. The streets had come alive as the hours ticked by; Erdwel was the more populous of the Twin Cities of the Sisters’ Vale, each straddling the Winding Serpent River and resting between the eponymous Sisters—mountain ranges split by the valley and separating the bulk of the continent from the eastern sea. Streets arranged in concentric circles gave the city an almost spiraling, sprawling design when seen via airship (or dragon wing, in Kaida’s case), with smaller structures toward the edges of the arrangement, and its tallest closer to the center. Most proud and tall among these features, visible from miles around, was the violet crystal spire which jutted up from the earth itself, surrounded by stone walls and towers: Leyspire Academy, the most preeminent school of magic in the north, was a sight to behold even from the edges of the city. But magecraft was the farthest thing from our heroes’ minds right now.

They weren’t the only ones ready for lunch, either. The smells of various cook fires, bakeries, and streetside grills immediately assailed their senses, and Kaida practically drooled in anticipation. “It did NOT smell this good when we got here this morning.”

“This is a bad time of day to be hungry and broke. Thankfully, we are not the latter.” the half-elf chirped back to him. They’d skipped breakfast in favor of getting Soren to the healers, so she was basically running on empty. She made her way toward the outdoor seating for one of her favorite taverns. “You’d better be careful, Kaida. You’ll never wanna subsist on mana again after this!”

“And YOU had better be careful about talking up food, because if you’re wrong I’m gonna slobber all over your face right here in public.”

They settled at a table and waited to be served. Kaida had, at first, been nervous about some of the glances he’d gotten since stepping outside, but people around the square weren’t muttering about him or throwing treats at his head. What a time to be alive, when intelligent four-legged lads like him weren’t treated like common dogs! Farah ordered up two mutton joints and two tall mugs of ale for the pair once a server appeared at their table, then reclined back on her seat and set her hat on the floor next to her, one hand combing lazily through her lilac hair.

“I eat mutton in the wild all the time. What’s so special?” Kaida stared curiously at the ale sitting on the table while Farah lifted hers to her lips. He’d never really tried alcohol before, but the smell was certainly interesting. Bitter with just a hint of sweetness, and a sour edge.

“Raw meat just doesn’t compare. The spices they use come directly from the academy’s botanical research wing, and the flavors are out of this world.” Farah hung on that thought, emerald eyes flicking up and down and giving Kaida a once-over. “I really can’t see you hunting or killing anything.”

“What, do you think I live on berries and mana crystals? Anything more substantial than that, I need to work for. And I can’t always get by on my dashing good looks alone.”

Farah snorted a laugh. “Just figured you subsisted entirely on cheese bread knots. You couldn’t get enough when we stopped back at the Lazy Fox.”

“And I never will!” Kaida finally raised his mug—in two paws, naturally—and flicked his tongue into the light amber ale to taste it. Brow ridges furrowed as the complex flavors hit him one after another. “People drink this stuff for fun?”

“Don’t like it?”

“It’s not that. It’s just so bitter! But then you get this sweet and sour aftertaste.”

“Yeah, it goes well with meat.” Speaking of, their plates came out hot and fresh, set down by a tavern maid who looked like she’d been up since before breakfast. Farah slipped her a few silvers in solidarity. She’d waited a few tables in her time before adventuring became a reality for her. “Ah, perfect. I’m curious to hear what you think!”

Perhaps as a joke, they’d even provided Kaida with silverware. He took one look at the fork and knife and rolled his eyes. At least they’d been considerate enough to cut his into smaller bits before serving it up to him, whereas Farah’s was still on the bone. Maybe they weren’t used to serving quadrupeds, but it was nice that they’d made an effort for his sake. He lolled out his tongue to snatch up a hunk of mutton, Farah snorting another laugh while he ruminated, literally and figuratively, on the intense flavors now swirling around his mouth. “Oh. Wow.”

“Right?” Farah cut into a hunk of meat and delicately forked it into her mouth. The complete opposite of Kaida’s lizard-like means of eating. “Purple garlic, mint, onion… and I’m pretty sure they use the snow peppers from the academy gardens, but they do something to them here that I don’t when I cook. Because I’ve never had the flavors pop like this.”

The dragon hummed thoughtfully around a big chunk of mutton. “You cook?”

“When I can.”

“More than just field rations?”

Farah gave him a wry smile. “Adventuring doesn’t give you the luxury of carrying a full spice rack with you, unless you’ve got an enchanted cookware set. You learn to work with what’s around you, and carry things that last a while. Don’t start whining about dried beef and fruit jerky if we happen to go on a week-long trek.”

Kaida slowed his mastication. Perhaps it’d be wise to savor this meal. “Noted.”

His elven companion giggled and took another swig of her drink. “Seriously, though? I dunno if they pickle the peppers or slow roast them or what, but I haven’t been able to copy it. Culinary arts are a magic all on their own.”

Their meals were devoured in short order—much as Kaida wanted to make his last, their skipped breakfast continued to remind him of just how hungry he was. Farah made sure to get a to-go order for Soren on their way out, placing her pointed steeple hat back atop her head before beckoning Kaida along. “I’m sure our traumatized rogue is as hungry as we were. And I wanna see how he’s holding up after that session.”

“You use that hypnosis spell a lot?” Kaida posed a cautious question. Memories of swirling colors and her soft commands continued to sneak into his mind, despite his best efforts to suppress them.

“Pretty much any time Soren can’t sleep, or is in a bad mood, or just wants to blank out for a bit.” Farah laughed half-heartedly. “Master Caledon might be a pervert, but he taught me well. That spell in particular stuck pretty easily.”

“Can’t imagine why.”

“Hush.” the half-elf’s cheeks flushed. They crossed the street and made their way toward the inn. “Honestly, I could probably retire from adventuring if I focused on magical hypnosis. Easing people’s pain, their trauma, softening bad memories. Like a sort of… ‘hypnotherapy’.”

Kaida had half a mind to volunteer as a test subject, but the butterflies fluttering around in his tummy steered the words well away from his maw. “Do you want to retire?”

“Nah, not yet. I have too much fun!”

Soren was half-awake when they reentered the inn room, but the bleary-eyed bunny quickly perked up when he realized they’d brought him food. He sat up in bed and dug into the packaged meal, his eyes watering before long. “Ahh man, I never thought I’d have Moira’s famous mutton ever again. Thanks, Farah.”

“Nothing like a brush with eternal torment to make you appreciate good food, huh?” the half-elf grinned, but softened her expression after just a moment. “Sorry, bad timing for a bad joke. How are you feeling?”

Soren took a breath. He mulled that question over while he chewed and savored the flavors of civilization and freedom, which just so happened to be spicy and meaty in this very moment. “Better. Really, I feel alright.” he finally managed to say. His eyes, once dull and far-off, ever-focused on the horrible memories of captivity, seemed a bit brighter than before. “No bad dreams, anyway. And nothing anchors me like good food.”

Farah’s smile returned. “And being called a ‘good boy’.”

“Oh stop that.” the rabbit blushed fiercely and stuffed his mouth again. He looked between Farah and Kaida and mumbled around his food, “So. Plans?”

“None so far. Just wanted to see how you were doing.” Her arms crossed under her breasts, and she gave him a stern stare. “You, however, are going to rest. No wandering about today.”

“What? I feel fine!”

“Most of your wounds were magically-inflicted. The chirurgeons may have closed them, but these things take longer to heal. Take the day to rest. You need it.”

Soren grumbled, but relented. He settled back on the bed and let out a disapproving huff. “Fine. Guess I’ll let myself be lazy for a day.”

“Good boy.” Farah managed to get another blushing scowl out of him, and ruffled his hair to boot. She got a ticklish poke to her tummy in response and squeaked as she bounced out of reach. “A-Anyway! Maybe I’ll show Kaida around the academy.”

“Yeah? Don’t let Caledon get his hands on him. Never know what kind of ‘experiments’ he’ll try on a dragon.”

“Oh, he’s not that bad. Don’t scare him.” Farah rolled her eyes. She rubbed Kaida’s ears encouragingly and began to guide the dragon to the door, leaving a snickering Soren in their wake. “He’d never experiment on you. I’d light his robes on fire if he tried.”

Kaida snorted, a blue puff of flame bursting from his nostrils. “I’m not exactly defenseless.”

Defenseless or not, he hadn’t met Caledon. Farah’s recollection of the vast array of spells at his disposal did concern her just a little; her master leaned pretty far toward the eccentric side, but surely he wouldn’t do anything to Kaida…

She’d just have to find out! They headed to the street and turned toward the center of the city, the imposing crystal spike around which the academy had been built guiding their way quite obviously. Farah explained unprompted, pointing at the oversized violet stalagmite, “The Ley-Pillar. I’m sure I don’t need to explain just how much magical energy it radiates.”

“Nope. I can practically taste it.” Kaida quipped at her side, bright blue eyes drinking in the sight of the massive spire. Mana was rarely visible to the naked eye unless acted upon for spellcasting, but the faint glow of the pillar itself and occasional colorful mote of pure magic rising from its crystalline surface made its power obvious to even the most mundane humans. In the mind’s eye, this spike of mana was akin to staring directly at the sun.

“A true blessing of nature, even if it is a little scary to think about sometimes. Before the academy was built, there was nothing here to contain all that power.” Farah’s pointer finger moved to one of the towers surrounding the spire. “The first mages to settle here had to build magical siphons just to be able to approach the Pillar without succumbing to mana sickness. To say nothing of the ley creatures that emerged from the Pillar itself, or the unfortunate animals mutated after wandering too close.”

Passing through the residential district, then another line of shops, the pair finally came upon Leyspire Academy. An imposing steel gate stood open before them, tall stone structures standing proud beyond its threshold. Easily the largest and most recognizable place in the city, the school grounds were a world apart, its verdant lawns perfectly tended, exotic flora and fauna blossoming and roaming about. From this close up, Kaida could see that the Ley-Pillar was surrounded by large stone walls and iron gates, and the siphoning towers hadn’t simply been built there, but magically levitated into place, floating effortlessly several hundred feet up, the ambient mana easily maintaining the ancient spells which set them aloft so many centuries ago.

They passed by students in robes and cloaks—notably, few of them appeared to dress as scantily as Farah did, though there were some who’d gone a similar ‘midriff warrior’ route. Some of the magical novices greeted Farah in passing, and more than a couple gave Kaida bewildered stares, smiles forming on their lips as they whispered about the ‘adorable dragon’ accompanying her. Said dragon’s cheeks burned lightly, and he did his best to ignore the commentary. A distant flash followed by a loud BOOM immediately stole his attention, a puff of black smoke left in the wake of something exploding on the other side of the academy grounds!

“Looks like the junior mages are having show and tell today.” Farah snickered, then breathed a nostalgic sigh. “That was me fifteen years ago. Thinking magic was all about the biggest and loudest explosions. I’d like to think I’m a bit more refined now.”

“Yeah, when you’re not being lewd.”

“Once! I did that once!” she grumbled and tugged him along by an ear. “C’mon, we’re going to see if my dimwit no-account teacher is here.”

“I thought Soren said he’d try to experiment on me!”

“It’ll be fine! I promise I won’t let him do anything crazy. That aside, he needs to know I made it out of the Thornlands in one piece.”

The pair entered the main building, standing tall amid the smaller campuses and class halls. The foyer opened up wide into the main hall, walls lined with torches of white magical fire to keep the academy nearly as bright as daylight. The circular walkway surrounded a large statue of two hominid figures; one clearly elven, and the other apparently human. The two stone guardians had their hands clasped in a firm shake.

“This academy,” Farah once again answered an unasked question, “was built in commemoration of the alliance between humans and elves. Before our two kinds came together, man knew little of magic beyond the few who lived as druids, and elvenkind shunned larger society in favor of our simple forest homes. It’s hard to imagine a world where our people refused to come together.”

“You might not even be here, huh?” Kaida observed, eyes flicking from the imposing statue to Farah, his more personal reminder of a union of races. “You’re half and half!”

“Don’t say it like that. Like I’m milk or something.” the elven half-breed snickered. She led him along the outer walkway, passing study buddies and acquaintances, some of whom let their gazes linger on Kaida. “You’re getting lots of attention.”

The dragon ducked his head against her hip to hide his face. “It’s a bit embarrassing.”

“Your fault for being cute.”

They turned down a side hallway, Farah keeping one hand on her companion’s head to calm his nerves. It must have been overwhelming for him, seeing so many people gathered in one place. Sure, he’d ventured into small towns before, but this was nothing compared to running into a tavern for some cheese bread. Farah’s eyes lit up when she came upon what she’d been searching for. “Ah, here. We can find out where Caledon is.”

An old, battered tome sat upon a stone pedestal set into the wall. Farah lay her hand upon it and murmured a brief incantation, and out came a glowing sphere of mana, which coalesced into an ethereal rabbit-like entity sporting long, floppy ears, green fur, and feathered wings. It perked up, large eyes going wide at the sight of the elven lass who’d summoned it. “Welcome back to Leyspire, Miss Farah!”

“Hello Pip!” she positively beamed at the adorable creature before her. Ah, it was good to be home. “Any messages for me?”

“Searching!” The bunny creature, Pip, rose up, and the tome from which it’d emerged floated into the air before it, opened wide, and flipped through its pages all on its own. Mana swirled between Pip and the enormous book, until the pages ceased their dramatic turning. The winged sprite recited, “From Master Caledon. It reads: Farah, my darling student, my amethyst star in the dark, I have come upon an epiphany! The secret to safe trans-dimensional travel! For real this time! No time to explain! Be good, and please don’t make me have to chase after those naughty, naughty faeries to pull you out of that whole mess! Toodles!”

Farah’s eyelid gave an involuntary twitch. “So I take it Master Caledon isn’t here.”

“Departed two days ago, I’m afraid.” Pip gave her an apologetic smile. “Shall I leave a response?”

“Oh, you bet you can. Dear Master Caledon: How am I supposed to learn anything from a teacher who’s NEVER HERE?! I’m FINE, by the way! No thanks to you! Please send a Pip directly to me the next time you’re in town, lest I miss another lecture.”

“In his defense, he hasn’t held a lecture in at least a week, so you haven’t had a chance to miss one.”

“That’s even worse!” Farah rubbed her temples. “Ugh, that dumb, irresponsible, bird-brain of a fox! I swear, the tiniest flight of fancy runs between all three of his brain cells, and off he goes for another fortnight!”

Pip’s floppy ears pinned back as it recorded the message, writing in an ethereal ink with a magical quill pen. “I am sorry, Miss Farah. I’d summon him right away for you if I could!”

“Oh, Pip.” Farah caressed the little bunny creature, delighting in its crooning purrs. “I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to yell at you. It’s just… frustrating dealing with Caledon.”

“Yours is not a unique complaint, I’m afraid.” Pip chuckled, stowing its magical pen. “Is there anything else I can do for you?”

“No, no. That’ll do for now. Thank you!”

“Then I bid you farewell until next we meet! Pip-Pipperu!” the green-furred rabbit twirled, bowed, and faded away in a flash of mana before returning to the tome from which it came. Farah led Kaida away, but the dragon kept his eyes upon the tome.

“What’s up?” the half-elf asked, following his gaze to the massive book. “Oh, you’ve probably never seen a Pip. They’re magical constructs. The original magi designed them to organize our scrolls and books into a sort of magical index. Any bit of information you need, you can ask a Pip, and they’ll find it as long as it’s inside the network.”

Kaida shook his head. “That’s… morally questionable and all, but I’m pretty sure that was a pirippin.”

“Pirippin? Can’t say I’ve ever heard them referred to as that.”

“They’re so secretive, even the fae can’t say whether or not they’re real.” Kaida hummed, finally turning his eyes away from the tome and back to Farah. “Small leporine creatures with feathered wings. That’s a pirippin, allegedly.”

Farah shrugged. “I’ve only ever known them as Pips. Because they’re all named Pip. They don’t really have individuality, since they were made for a specific purpose.”

“Yeah, can we back up to the morally questionable part of that? Your people designed a living being and put them to work cataloging your books?”

“Well, if you say it like that, it sounds awful. We don’t mistreat them. And don’t take it the wrong way; they look and sound lively, but they don’t have souls. Surely you could see it in its mana?”

That much was true; Kaida hadn’t sensed so much as a sliver of a soul within the Pip or pirippin or whatever that thing was. The whole idea still tasted sour, but he opted to let it go for the moment. For all anyone knew, no soul meant no suffering. “So. What now?”

“For now,” Farah smiled down at her dragon companion. “We’re going up to my room. I need to drop some things off.” Her voice dropped to a low murmur, “And I feel like you’ve been stealing glances at me all day, so let’s talk about that.”

“Wuh--!” Kaida’s cheeks burned! “I-I haven’t--!”

“Shhh. Let’s get upstairs first.”

The protesting dragon’s stammering fell on deaf ears. They navigated the long hallways of the academy, went up a spiral staircase, and turned a corner into another hall lined with doors. Farah hurried along, Kaida in tow, until she came upon her room. The door handle glowed upon contact with her hand, and the magical lock unlatched once it identified her mana.

“Welcome! It’s not much, but it’s enough for a student’s needs.” Farah stepped inside, arms spread wide. Her room was various shades of purple, clearly inspired by her exotic hair color, with a large, plush bed, stacks of books scattered haphazardly about, and magical bits and bobs littering a large study desk.

“Is it just a thing, that every mage has to live in clutter?” Kaida joked, following her inside.

“Hey, I like my mess where it is. Believe it or not, I know where every tome I’ll ever need to read is.”

“What, can’t just ask the Pips to read them to you?”

“You try studying to the sound of that squeaky voice all day and night.” Farah shut the door and turned back to smirk at the cheeky dragon. “Now… Let’s chat.”

Suddenly on the spot again, Kaida’s humor well dried up rather quickly. “About what?”

“You know what.”

“I’m sure I don’t.”

The half-elven girl sauntered forward. Her hands found Kaida’s ears and caressed them gently, drawing gentle rumbling purrs from his throat. “Do you think I’m angry? You’ve been watching me all day, and making suggestive comments.”

“A-As a joke!”

“I don’t think so.” Farah knelt down to look him in the eyes. “Kaida, sweetie… You can be honest with me.”

As if! The stupid lewd things he’d been obsessing over were far too humiliating to admit! But that earnest look in her emerald eyes just couldn’t be denied. “I… um…” he began, ears pinned back, tail tucked between his back legs. “I just…”

“You just?” Farah’s fingers found their way under his chin, scratching just the right spot to melt the sensitive dragon and tense him up all at once.

“Uwaaahhhh…” Ah, that might have been meant to be a word at some point. “I was wondering if you’d… use your hypnosis spell on me again. I got kinda jealous, watching Soren go under the last few days…”

Farah’s brows raised. “All you did when we met was try to resist that spell!”

“Yeah, well, you were cheating at negotiations then!”

“Fair.” the half-elf giggled. She rose again, unclasped her cloak, and hung it and her hat on a hook on the wall. She removed her boots, wandered over to her bed, and sat, patting the sheets beside her. Kaida, who was now blushing up a storm, slowly padded over, climbed up onto the bed, and avoided looking at her. Farah smirked, her hand gently trailing down the back of his neck. “Oh, so now you’re nervous? After referencing the little romp we had, what, twice today?”

Kaida grumbled. She was the one who’d hypnofucked and tickle-tortured him, but it was somehow his fault for being unable to get it out of his head? These two-legged folk were something else. “It was fun.”

“Yeah, it was.” Now it was Farah’s turn to blush. She fanned herself just a little and took a deep breath. “But now that we’re actually talking about it, and things are more… consensual…” She decided not to hang on the implications of that, “Is there anything you absolutely do not want me to do? I can nix the tickling thing entirely this time.”

“No, no! I mean, um—” Kaida cleared his throat. “I mean… I didn’t… mind it. You know. Whatever.”

“Whatever, huh?” the half-elf smirked. Once again, this dragon proved to be the opposite of the stories she’d read as a young, impressionable kid all those years ago. “Anything else?”

“I um…” Kaida swallowed hard. Now that they were actually discussing it, he found himself wondering: Was he really going to let her do this to him again? Just watching her put Soren under to help reduce his mental trauma had been fascinating enough. He needed to feel that intense relaxation again, even if she meant to torment him with tickles! “Nothing comes to mind. I trust you.”

Farah smiled. She had Kaida lay on his back, his head in her lap, and brushed her fingers through his soft hair. “Just take some deep breaths.” she crooned, her voice dropping low, taking on a now familiar monotone. “And let your mind begin to wander. It becomes so easy, so very easy to let your thoughts wisp away, like leaves on the wind, as you listen to my voice…” Her other hand waved, sending a trickle of mana to her staff, propped against the wall beside the bed. “And look into the pretty colors.”

The familiar prismatic swirl appeared in the air above him, and Kaida allowed himself to become transfixed. There was no resistance this time, no struggle against the hypnotic allure of the colorful spiral. Farah’s words poured into him, and her gentle scratches and rubs began to melt his mind down into a soft putty.

“Warm colors wrap around your mind.” Farah droned, fingernails gently grazing the base of his ears. “They whirl and whirl and spin your thoughts around, like a gentle autumn breeze that swirls the leaves into the air, casting them away to random, unimportant places. They’ll be back when you need them. But you don’t right now. You’re safe. So warm and comfortable and safe, with me, with the pretty colors.”

He went to nod, but his head just sort of flopped forward and back. Words dissolved on his tongue and came out as soft wisps of breath. The urge to shut his eyes and sleep tugged at him from some distant place, unreachable and unimportant, never quite reaching the nerves necessary to make it happen. He had to stare. Had to look into the spiral, to listen closely, to go so deep, so deep, so deep…

“Good boy.” The words tickled his brain in a way he wasn’t even sure was possible, a sleepy giggle bubbling up from his tummy and tittering from his muzzle. Farah cooed with a laugh of her own and repeated, “Goooood boy. Mmm, you and Soren have something in common.”

“Ahehehe… hehehehe…” Kaida couldn’t stop giggling, and she hadn’t even touched his tummy this time! Some primordial sensation of blissful, unfiltered joy had been coaxed up from deep within his psyche and spread into everything he knew. Different things made different people happy, but everyone knew what happy felt like—and this feeling was just that. Pure, condensed happiness, fluttering up within him and popping like colorful bubbles against his mind.

Farah had to stop herself from laughing with him, lest she lose focus. If this was therapeutic for her, she couldn’t imagine how wonderful Kaida felt! Maybe she should retire from adventuring and open up that hypnotherapy clinic after all. “So wonderfully happy, so giddy and blissful. Deeper down. Like a slide lined with soft feathers, you ride my words and the pretty colors deeper down. Deeper… Deeper… Soft, tickly bliss brings you deeper down…”

Every gentle urging to slip further into blissful trance doubled that intense feeling of giddy relaxation. Phantom feathers caressed his body and mind, leaving him a sleepy, giggly mess of a dragon, his cheeks flushed, body slumped and limp save for his deep breaths and the spasmodic contraction of his diaphragm every time he was made to laugh. His tummy tensed instinctively when something brushed against it, but an authoritative murmur of “Relax” quelled his resistance. A familiar sensation of panicked pleasure tingled in his nerves when Farah’s dexterous fingers began to dance across his belly scutes.

“Oh no,” she playfully crooned, “You’re so relaxed, you can’t escape the tickle monster. Oh, woe, oh horror.” The elf bit back a laugh as Kaida’s giggles ramped up into soft, sleepy laughter. “What ever will you do? You’re far too hypnotized to resist, aren’t you?”

“Yehehehehehesssss…” Kaida’s dreamy giggles bubbled out in affirmation, his eyes helplessly transfixed upon the mesmerizing spell still swirling above him. Patterns of blue, gold, green, purple, red, orange, all twisting into one another, spiraling and pulsing, flowing outward in fractal blossoms which commanded his attention and sapped away his resistance. Even with his nerves crying out for escape from Farah’s ticklish touch, the dragon simply lay there, helpless and exposed, sleepily giggling as one of those devilish hands found a hindpaw and attacked the soft, sensitive pads there!

“Good boy, Kaida.” Farah purred, her breath catching momentarily when she caught sight of a change in the dragon’s scales—a swelling in the slit between his hind legs. It didn’t take long for the tip of his stiff, pink cock to begin to slip out, a sight that brought a hot flush to her cheeks. “Hff… um…” She struggled to focus, licking her lips unconsciously and driving her fingers between Kaida’s toe beans. “Mm, does being tickled arouse you or something? You’re so hard already…”

He could only respond with an affirmative whimper-giggle. He might not have thought of tickling as arousing prior to meeting Farah, but that fateful encounter had cross-wired something in his psyche. Maybe her hypnosis had ingrained something in him. Whatever the reason, those devious digits had him rock-hard in mere minutes, his stiff dragon cock standing at attention as he giggled and moaned and whined under her sway.

One dainty elven hand made its way to that pink rod and stroked enthusiastically, adding another layer of lewd sounds to the dragon’s heavy breaths and titters. “You little scaly slut… Gods, why is this so hot?”

Farah abandoned those tantalizing paws. She had a bigger target to attack, and now her curiosity begged her to try something she’d neglected to the last time. Wet lips pressed against the girth of that dragon dick in a soft kiss, her tongue slipping out experimentally. That deft muscle worked its way to the tip and swirled around it, pointed ears perked to the sound of Kaida’s needy whimpers. “Listen to you.” she huffed, still firmly stroking him. “Like I didn’t just do this a few days ago.”

“Ssssorrry Mistressss…” the dragon slurred, his response melting into the next hot little sound that oozed from his throat. Farah’s lips slipped down around his length and took him as deep as her mouth could—not that far at all, as it turned out, but she sure did give it a go! And for the hypnotized dragon, it was enough and then some.

She gulped him down again and again, bobbing her head on that dragon dick, her tongue massaging the underside as the tip nudged the back of her throat. One hand squeezed the base of his shaft, the other busily peeling her crop top up to expose her small but perky breasts, then grasping and massaging one firmly. Her thighs squeezed together unconsciously, and her cheeks burned. Was she really about to embody that particular elven stereotype again?

“H-Here.” she huffed, coming up for air and letting her hand slowly work him over while she adjusted her position. Her chest hovered over his face, and she lifted his muzzle to a breast while she stroked him. Kaida’s scrambled brain still knew what to do when a tit loomed just beyond his nose, apparently, for his tongue flicked out to taste her soft pink nipple without so much as a thought. Farah drew in a sharp breath and squeaked as that tongue quickly began to flicker over her nipple, and she slowly, clumsily wiggled out of her shorts. “Fffuck…”

Kaida’s breaths hitched as Farah focused on the tip of that dick, her thumb tracing around the head, each slow circle back to the underside tugging another muffled moan from the dragon pressed up against her. His hips bucked, cock dribbled precum, and she was positive he was teetering right over the edge.

“Don’t you dare cum yet.” she warned, and almost went to cast another hypnosis spell, only to realize Kaida’s face was pressed right into her chest. A mewling sound of concession, however, proved it unnecessary; he was still nice and deep for her. “You’re gonna edge here for a while. That’s your punishment for making Soren suspicious.”

Kaida whined out a completely incomprehensible response, but didn’t pause in his worshipful licks. His tongue slithered lewdly over her breasts, warm dragon saliva leaving a cool wetness in the wake of that forked muscle. His eyes, still mirroring the colorful swirls of the hypnosis spell, stared up at her adoringly, fuzzy ears perked and attentive. Hanging on every syllable of every word. Every sensation must have doubled or even tripled in this state; there were no thoughts to concern himself with, no noise to distract him. Just an empty head, perfect for filling with all the overwhelming pleasure an obedient, hypnotized dragon could ask for.

“Honestly. W-What were you… thinking…” Farah gasped between her words as she busily dipped her fingers between her thighs and massaged her labia. “S-So… tactless..! Like you want people to know we f-fucked…”

Kaida mumbled out what might have been an apology, but it melted under a particularly happy moan as Farah squeezed the base of his shaft.

“Don’t fucking cum..!”

“Mmmmnooooot..!”

“Good boy.” Farah’s fingers deftly squeezed and stroked around Kaida’s knot—if they kept this up, there might come a day when she could actually hilt herself on that thing. Stupid elf girl stereotypes coming true. She fingered herself almost fiercely, her breaths quickening, lower lip sucked between her teeth as her own fingers and Kaida’s lashing tongue sent ripples of ecstasy through her nerves. She might not have been particularly buxom, but her breasts were more than sensitive enough to make up for it.

Her fingers, on the other hand, were no longer enough. She coaxed her mind-fucked dragon onto his back and quickly mounted him. Yep, she was gonna do this again after all. “Now remember, Kaida,” she managed to bring the hypnotic droning back to her voice as her spell was renewed, colorful spirals ensnaring Kaida’s vision once more. “No matter how good it feels, you don’t cum until I say you can. Right?”

“Yesssss…!”

“Yes what?”

“Yes Mistress!”

Gods, there it was again. The toe-curling excitement that jolted through her when he called her that! The sight of this adorable dragon, eyes swirled and tongue lolling in empty bliss, laying beneath her and hanging on her every command. She didn’t linger on the thought; there was dragon dick to ride. And so she did… slowly. Down she went, half an inch, then a full one… Gasping and huffing, listening to Kaida’s needy whimpers as she took… more of him… in..!

“Ghh… ffffffuck…” Farah huffed and panted, relaxing herself as best as she could as that dick spread her. Down to the half-way point… and just a touch lower. A little more than last time, and absolutely her limit. Why she felt compelled to break her record, she couldn’t quite decide at the moment. All she knew was how fucking hot it was to bounce on this moaning scaly boy, her pussy clenching firmly around him, hands landing on his chest while she rode the hypnotized dragon.

It was a good thing the dorms were magically sound-proofed. The noises they made in their throes of passion, the creaking of Farah’s bed, the feminine squeals that left her throat each time Kaida spread her wide combined with the boyish howls of needy pleasure, could have woken the entire academy. Kaida’s dick throbbed harder than it ever had, lingering at the edge of a climax long overdue, and his claws dug into the sheets below in a futile attempt to alleviate the stress.

“Pl… please…!” the dragon mewled, the tiniest sliver of willfulness manifesting in just that one whimpered word.

And Farah couldn’t find any reason to deny him. She nodded, dispelled her hypnotic focus, and braced herself as the word left her lips: “Cum..!”

A gush of heat, and an unrestrained howl… Kaida’s shaft erupted with warmth, and that draconic maleness pushed up into Farah, its swollen knot nearly meeting her pussy lips. The resultant push bounced her atop the dragon, and she yelped in painful pleasure as her record was broken again. Not that she had more than a half-second to register the discomfort, as her own climax rocked her from head to toe. The hot dragon seed spurting into her and overflowing between them sent ripples of pleasure through her nerves, and she couldn’t stop herself from rocking forward and back atop her scaly lover, hot cries of bliss ripping from her throat!

How long did it go on? When did the seconds turn to minutes, and how hard had time blurred for her? Gods, how hard must it have done so for Kaida, all swirled-out as he was? Farah realized she’d collapsed atop Kaida at some point during their mutual climax, panting and gasping as smaller waves of bliss randomly jolted through her. The dragon was a twitching, whimpering mess, his tongue hanging loose almost comically, eyes crossed in ecstasy.

It took some time—how long, she couldn’t tell—before Farah managed to do much of anything but stare down at him, their gazes having finally met at some point while they recovered. The luster of awareness finally began to creep back into Kaida’s gaze, and some part of her realized they’d have to finally acknowledge what they’d done here. One random fuck in the heat of the moment was one thing. But twice? Almost premeditated the second time? That wasn’t a fluke.

Yet she couldn’t help but giggle a bit. And Kaida joined her after a moment, still drunk on the afterglow and the lingering influence of her spell. Farah slowly, carefully dislodged Kaida’s still stiff cock from her tight tunnel, groaning with the effort, and deposited herself beside him to nuzzle into his neck.

“This, um…” Kaida finally broke the silence between them. “This isn’t… weird for you, is it?”

“You’re asking that now?” Farah scoffed. This fucking guy. “Honestly? It’s weird as hell for me. But I’m into it.”

The dragon let out a self-conscious giggle. “Okay, good. I think?”

Farah grinned as she pressed a long kiss to his neck. “Yeah. It’s good.”

An almost palpable air of relief came over him. Kaida relaxed and crooned as more kisses dotted along his scales. “I don’t think I need to say it, but… that was amazing.”

“I um… may be a certified dragon fucker at this point, heh.” Farah giggled nervously. She hugged herself closer to her unlikely lover and pursed her lips. “I hope this doesn’t make things awkward. You know? Like… since we’ll be adventuring together.”

“It’ll be fine. I won’t be weird about it.”

There was certainly something to be said about how he kept bringing up their first encounter throughout the day, but… “I guess things were a little bit up in the air before today, huh.” Farah conceded, her posture slackening as she relaxed. “Long as you know how to behave, I don’t see it being a problem.”

Kaida’s paws found their way to her back, where his claws traced slow, careful patterns, causing her to squeak and squirm ticklishly. “I’m absolutely fine being… oh, what do you bipeds call it… ‘friends with benefits’?”

Farah snorted a laugh. “That’s the one. I’m happy with that, too. But I’ll say it again—don’t expect me to be jumping your bones every other day.”

“Every third day then. Got it.”

“Don’t push your luck, tickle-slut.”

Kaida stammered, but produced nothing worthy of being called a comeback, and Farah simply snickered. They lay there for another moment before the dragon offered another issue: “Soren’s totally gonna find out at some point, though.”

“Yeah, not looking forward to the teasing.” the elven mage rolled her eyes, but in a good-natured way. “Oh well. If he does, he does. But let’s not rub it in his face. I’d hate to be the third person in a camp with two people fucking.”

“He won’t be… jealous, will he?”

“Oh, no. He and I aren’t like that.” Farah dismissed his concern with a little wave. “We talked about it once. But we’ve known each other since we were kids. It’d just be weird… and we don’t wanna risk messing up our friendship if things happened to end poorly.”

“That’s oddly mature for you.” Kaida grinned, and got a pillow to the face in response. “Joking aside, that’s good. I don’t wanna make him uncomfortable.”

“Me neither.” Farah smiled. She ducked her head back under Kaida’s chin and shut her eyes. Suddenly, the idea of getting up and moving just seemed unattractive. “We… are gonna need a bath after that. And I’ll definitely have to change my sheets. But for now? I just wanna nap here with you.”

Kaida hummed his agreement. A wing curled protectively over Farah’s upper body, and she tugged a blanket over the pair of them. Things might still be weird, despite their mutual understanding, but adventuring was full of oddities. As Farah drifted off to sleep, she figured she’d thank her lucky stars that this particular oddity was a pleasant one. Whatever troubles they’d face for it, they’d do so together. After a nap, of course.
