PART FIFTY EIGHT.

It wasn't until mid-morning next day before Lucy awoke her vision somewhat hazy at first, both shapes as well as colours where blurred going in and out of focus like some child's kaleidoscope. It all so didn't help that the Lucario felt stiff, drained if not extremely sore though considering the traumatic experience she had been through it was to be expected. However she had slept well for the first time in quite a long while. She had half expected nightmares to haunt her but none had come if anything she could still feel the tingly sensation of the mix of both her own and James's auras surrounding her. Externally there was only a barely visible glow around her which intensified as she eased a paw towards the somewhat ragged looking Human that she hardly even knew yet felt such a strong connection with.

The loud sound of her stomach rumbling filled the air making her blush as she realised her body had not eat in some time apart from the nutrients that had been fed to her intravenously. Lucy opened her muzzle to speak but found it hard to form her words, swallowing down a lung full of air Lucy tried again giving out a wheezing sound but on the third attempt she managed to force a weak voice to escape her thick black lips. She hadn't known this human long if at all and yet his very presence felt calming to her as if they had been together for years, part of the canine Pokémon wondered if this was because of the compatibility of their auras or just maybe it was something more.

“thank you"

Lucy's eyes widened as she was silenced with a kiss brushing against her lips, a sharp tingling sensation arced through her body; she never noticed Oni watching intently like the little voyeuristic Weavile that she was. Bunny was making mock kissing motions in to the air with paws clenched together over her chest while Toph opened one eye from her warm spot at the bottom of the bed before yawning wide and going back to sleep again. Only Blaze seemed to glare at the Lucario with a jealous glint in her eyes, her fists clenched tightly as she trembled angrily as she pictured herself strangling Lucy with her own two hands. The Fire/Fighting type felt great joy in the mental image Lucy's feet kicking helplessly in mid-air as her airway was crushed.

The sound of footsteps from outside the curtains that cordoned off Lucy's bed, seconds later Evolution Town's Officer Jenny poked her head in a smile playing on her lips as sweet as honey but her eyes where cold like some steel trap. The Officers gaze made him want to break out in a cold sweat, to confess to anything just so she would stopped looking into his eyes.

“Hello I believe we met several days ago?"

She asked using a question as a way of announcing herself also to break the ice between the two of them, all most instantly Oni was between Jenny and James a wisp of ice cold breath leaving her mouth. The Weavile remembered that morning all too well especially the woman's colleague, a growl began to rumble from her inhuman throat. Blaze took the cue instantly, her avian eyes narrowing as if anticipating trouble.

“I remember your colleague"

Jack noted nervously as Toph opened an eye as she picked up on her Trainers unease meanwhile Lucy looked on with confusion, to the Lucario the Officer was a symbol of Human authority still she went to rise from the bed only to feel Bunny's paw on her chest pressing her down with surprising amount of strength for a Lopunny.

“I guess I deserve your Pokémon's distrust after that stunt one of my men pulled, as I said before you have extremely loyal Pokémon"

Officer Jenny chuckled keeping her hands down by her sides, normally she would have raised them to show she meant no harm, but she knew from both training along with personal experience that a Pokémon would take it as a sign aggression and attack. The Trainer felt the reassuring sensation of his friends ready to defend him he could also see the Houndoom sitting patiently behind Jenny ready to defend her if the situation got out of control.

“It's okay girls I don't think she wants to hurt me"

Jack spoke slowly stepping in front of Oni and Blaze, a warm reassuring smile playing across his lips to placate the two Pokémon, it took several minutes for both Pokémon to stand down even then their body language was clear that they would intervene should the woman start anything untoward towards their beloved trainer.

“I'll be just outside"

The youth added his gaze turning to Lucy for a brief second easing past the curtains, outside Officer Jenny smile didn't waver as she continued to speak with the Trainer her eyes watching every movement he made as if analysing both his body language as well as his facial expressions while her hand reached into her coats inside pocket to draw out a blue note book and pen.

“I need you to tell me everything you remember about when you found the Lucario, every little detail may be important"

The woman noted in a firm yet kindly voice, James paused to gather his thoughts for a moment before recounting that fateful morning, he left out about how he had met Lucy since his mating with the Pokémon would more than likely get him arrested so he kept that to himself.

As he did so Jenny began to jot what he said down in a small black note book her black ball point pen

“You mention sensing her presence or rather her aura while walking down the dirt path of route nine on your way to Forest City correct?"

Jenny asked her hand scribbling words across paper as the youth replied sying.

“Yes ma'am, it was a strange sensation like a sense of warmth and security surrounding me like a blanket."

Nodding her head she paused in her writing for a brief second as she tried to imagine how it might feel to sense another beings aura, the fact that she couldn't made Jenny a tad bit envious of him.

“So you haven't met this Pokémon before yet you know its name?"

Her question annoyed him slightly and decided to let her know as much.

“First off, the Lucario is not an it but a female, second off I can understand what she says!"

This statement made the Officer raises an eyebrow sceptically at this statement; turning to her Houndoom she gave a command.

“Hey boy tell this kid something only you and I would know, let's see if he really can understand Pokémon"

The Dark/Fire type sighed rolling his eyes slightly before doing as he was told as if finding this claim to be just as ridiculous as his partner did.

“Houndoom...Doom...Hound...Doom...Doom...Hounddoom...Doom...Houndoom...Hound!"

Jack listened intently his eyes going wide as he blushed brightly at what he was hearing, he wished the male Pokémon had chosen something less personal about Jenny as he really didn't want to know about the Officers fantasies.

“Um seems you uh heh....Erm well..like to uh relieve certain needs to some guy called Donaldo"

It was the woman's turn to blush brightly, throwing the Houndoom a disapproving glare she made a discrete cough but even then her face was still brightly flushed from embarrassment as she attempted to regain her composure.

“Hmnnn either one your stalking me, highly unlikely. two your Espeon is translating for you, but since she is not out here to hear the words being spoken and the fact my partner is part dark type means remote mind reading is not plausible."

Jenny surmised as she attempted to deduce the answer, it was at this point Toph jumped down from the bed and padded lazily out from under the bottom of the curtains, her psychic voice ringing in the Officers mind as she yawned lifting her hind quarters as her front half stretched out tiredly.

'Excuse me I am trying to sleep in there; your mouth noises are disturbing my delightful slumber! But if it is answers that will silence all this annoying exchange of sounds? Then answers you shall have!

The reason for my servants uh trainers remarkable ability to understand Pokémon is simply that one rewired ones trainers brain and before you ask such a tiresome question of why? it was done as it would have been too much effort to keep translating what other mundane's say.'

Toph yawned again using the word mundane's to refer as none psychics inferiors, with this said she turned around and headed back under the curtain as if even this was a bothersome effort on her part, Jenny shook her head in utter disbelief at the sheer mentality of the Espeon.

“If I put this down how you can understand Pokémon I'll be marked down for a psych' evaluation to see if I'm mentally incapable, but if I put nothing that will leave a visible hole in the statement that will have me labelled as negligent in my duties."

Officer Jenny mused more to herself than to the young trainer in front of her, closing her eyes for a second she began to write something down in her note book, her reasoning was since the Espeon was responsible for the trainers ability then by proxy the psychic Pokémon allowed the trainer to communicate with the victim.

“The witness came across the Pokémon victim, his Pokémon a psychic type allowed the witness to communicate with the victim."

Jenny spoke aloud as she wrote, it was not a lie but would allow her to avoid the complication of trying to explain some thin that while true was hard to accept. With the statement having been completed as she put her not book away, she smiled in her if not generic 'you're not a suspect so I will socialise with you now' type of smile. Jenny watched the youth curiously trying to figure him out, most of the trainers she had met would have ignored the Lucario letting her die but he hadn't it made her consider if their where others like him out there who actually care about their Pokémon teams as friends rather than mere resources or commodities to do with as they deemed fit.

“So will I be able to keep Lucy pervading she wishes to stay with me?"

Jack asked the police officer his eyes looking into her as if hoping to see some sign of what Jenny was thinking but despite the smile she wore a poker face, looking back her gaze remained unflinching as she answers him her voice not unkind but still firm.

“Well I will need you come by my office to sign your statement before leaving Town but as for the Lucario she seems to attached to you and since she was obviously abandoned, I feel it's acceptable to have Nurse Joy remove the DNA markers."

The DNA markers where what where introduced to a Pokémon's D.N.A when first successfully digitized by Pokéball upon capture, this allowed the Pokéball's owner to call out or recall the Pokémon. It all so prevented any other Pokéball from capturing someone else's Pokémon, this can be removed legally by any Pokémon Centre or Pokémon Lab so long as written authorisation is given from either the Regional Police force or the Pokémon League itself. This said there are ways that it can be done illegally by certain criminal organisations or by Poachers as well as thieves who steal both Pokémon and their ball.

“For now you'd best get back to your new Pokémon"

Jenny noted nodding back to where Lucy laid waiting for his return, with a faint smile James gave a polite nod of his head before heading back to his team.
