Kevin's Highschool Days: Chapter 12: Time for Trouble (Search and rescue time)
#12 of Kevin's Highschool Days: Chapter 1 The start of school
Before we headed off for a bite to eat, Falco and Fox confirmed our parents that we were going to stay out a little late. Luckily they had all our numbers and they all said yes. We headed over to a restaurant called White Spot and ordered there. Of course I usually have trouble ordering food from fancy places so I just went with a burger and fries. When the check came, Fox offered to pay most of it and we all chipped in a little for the rest. I was quite impressed by the amount of money he took out, but judging from my game and all those fan-made fictions about the cash they earned, I'm not surprised.
There was a local arcade nearby called "Circuit Express" which we decided to head to for some fun. They had a Simpson four player game there and I took charge with Fox, Falco and Krystal. I controlled Bart, Falco chose Homer, Fox played Lisa and Krystal got Marge. Since these guys hadn't played the game before, I quickly showed them how to take control. In fact after they gained the skills, the others gathered around to watch us instead of playing their own games. When we reached Burns for the final battle, we still had a life left so we just played again till we lost.
"Not bad," Snow commented after we left the arcade. "Have you played that game for a long time?"
"If you're referring to The Simpsons Arcade game, then yes I have," I answered. "I have to say starfox did a pretty good job at playing for the first time." "You did quite good yourself guys," I added giving Fox a playful slap on the back.
"Thanks," Fox said back. "I have to admit, getting used to that seems to be more difficult than trying to disable a bomb from Andross, but then again getting used to something new is always a challenge."
Outside of the arcade, we hid behind some boxes next to it with the warehouse in our view. The door opened and Russell came out followed by the rhino, the human and another wolf holding Ryan.
"There he is!" Morrell whispered. "Oh god, I really want to get him back!"
"Don't worry," I said comforting the orca. "We will, but for now we got to follow them and prevent the enslavation of our town."
"What if they get away?" Ky asked. "Knowing those aliens in disguise, they could transform into goop and get away before we have a chance."
"That's where my secret weapon comes in," I told the wolf. I held it in my right hand and showed it to everyone.
At Cornerian laboratories, the goons were outside the entrance. The gate was sealed with a password with a voice activation code.
"Now how do we get inside there?" Russell asked. "Come on Ryan, you should know it."
"The entrance has to be unlocked by saying the password for it to work," Ryan replied. "Slippy and General Pepper asked me to pick it."
"Well tell us or my shoe meets your face," Dirk grumbled lifting up a foot. Ryan sighed and the human alien put it back down.
"Iron chess force," was the response Ryan gave it. The gate opened up and the guys snickered.
"Good work human," chuckled Sleaze as he made a menacing grin on his face. "We'll spare you and your boyfriend once it's over and down with." They began walking inside to start looting for weapons. Ryan looked back at a full moon as Russell escorted him inside.
[Hurry Morrell] Ryan prayed. [They're almost there].
Morrell was in some bushes on a hill in front of the laboratories. We were also there with him. Fox was looking through some binoculars he brought with us to see what was happening.
"What can you see Fox?" asked Falco.
"It looks like they've opened the first lock and now the second one," the vulpine said back. "Smart that they picked Ryan knowing that he'd know the password."
"I don't think they did know that at first Fox," Krystal spoke. "I'm guessing that the Russell wolf knew because he seemed to know a lot about Ryan and figured he'd have it considering that smart talk Morrell told us."
"We'll need some big help to back us up," Fox said out loud. "Falco, give me your cell phone." "There's someone I need to contact." The avian pulled out his red phone and handed it over. Fox dialed a familiar number and scooted back a bit to have some room to talk.
"Hello?" asked a old rough voice at the other end of the line.
"Peppy, it's me Fox," Fox said quickly. "We need you help."
"Is it a bad crisis?" the hare huffed sitting up in his chair. Peppy had been seated in his house when the call came. "You sound quite panicked."
"There were some aliens in disguise that we found," Fox began. "They're working with a wolf named Russell Black and they've captured Ryan."
"Oh god," cried Peppy. His eyes got big when the words ended. Ryan knew the passwords and if the bad guys got a hold of some of the dangerous battle gear, a war and enslavement would be started. "Good thing you contacted me right now." "If they're the same aliens the news stated, then what do you want me to do?"
"Well they are based on a morphing tentacle we saw, they are," the fox puffed trying to get his speech straightened. "Look just get some police, Cornerian soldiers, Beltino and General Pepper and meet us at this abandoned house at these directions." Fox starts giving directions to Peppy, but his speech is muted so they aren't heard.
"Alright Fox, you take care and make me proud," Peppy smiled at the other end of the line.
"Will do old friend," Fox replied. Hanging the phone up, Peppy walked over to the kitchen counter and picked up a photo of him, James and a younger McCloud. The rabbit knew that would be Fox someday. He missed James McCloud, he had to be one of the best Cornerian pilots the world had ever seen. After a climatic battle with Andross, he was presumed dead since he never came back.
"I might have lost you, but I promise that I won't let it happen again to your son," Peppy said to the picture. He set it down and rushed off to gather the authorities.
Inside Cornerian laboratories, the aliens, Black and Ryan had gotten past the building lock since it was another voice activated lock which he knew the password for. There had been some lasers, locked doors and all sorts of way of preventing intruders, but the goons handled it well. Johnny smashed the wire panels, Dirk picked the locks and Sleaze took care of the other stuff. The lasers unfortunately hadn't been rigged to set off an alarm and no security were patrolling the building except a single guard Russell clubbed with a chair because the scientists thought no one could get in due to the voice activation control and lasers. Finally they came to a room labeled, "Dangerous Weapon storage, authorized personal only" in a big glass frame.
"Authorize this stupid," Sleaze howled smashing the frame sign with his fist. Picking the lock, Dirk opened it up and turned on a light. The room filled with bright light and all sorts of weapons.
There was rack after rack of dangerous equipement. Huge stun guns, deadly lasers, gas grenades, sleeping bombs, big missile blasters and special drills. The guys got to work looting the shelves for cool equipment.
"Good work Ryan," laughed Russell evilly looking at a laser. "We couldn't have done this without you." Ryan felt depressed that it was beginning, but then he saw a figure pop out of a bush outside.
It was Morrell! He appeared along with Starfox, the four Lucians, Kevin, Shane, Fara and Ky to rescue him! While the bad guys grabbed what they could, he waved hello to his boyfriend. _he thought in his head.
Me and Morrell entered through a rusty gate in the back that the guys didn't think of entering. We lay a long board of wood across a rusty gas barrel in front of the weapons room window. Then I knocked on the glass getting their attention.
"Hey it's a dragon and the human's boyfriend!" yelled Russell. I took a picture with the cell phone Falco gave me. "He took our picture!"
"Did my muscles look hot?" mumbled Johnny. Dirk slapped him on the head. I held the secret weapon in my hand: a cinder block._
"Here we go, we can't turn back now," I said to Morrell. "If this works, we'll save everyone we know and love." Standing back, I took aim.
"Nooo!" shouted Russell, but his yells couldn't stop as I hurled the block at the window smashing it completely. While the lasers weren't rigged to set off an alarm, the windows were and it rang as soon the glass smashed. Ryan took the opportunity and jumped out into Morrell's arms who embraced him in a quick warm hug.
"Come on!" signaled the orcas as we took off and ran. Russell of course got angry and shouted at the others to hurry up.
"Grab what you can, I'm gonna kill those 3," he grumbled scrambling over a chair. Dirk and Sleaze helped Johnny stuff the weapons in a big duffel bag and ran after him.
Unfortunately Russell didn't see the board and jumped on it. Looking down, he saw it over a gas barrel and realized what it was till the rhino came out.
"Stop Johnny!" the wolf cried. The rhino didn't hear him and by mistake, jumped on the other end and sent Russell sailing through the air. Dirk and Sleaze came out in time to see the flying wolf soaring high in the air. He descended quickly and landed on his back atop a wooden shed in the making. The guys ran over to him finding him groaning from the impact.
"That was incredible!" Sleaze laughed. Russell just grumbled and reached over to grab one of the wolf aliens' hands so he could help him up.
"Where are they?!" shouted the black wolf in anger. We popped out from behind some garbage cans.
"Hey guys, smile for the cameras!" I called to them. Sleaze, Dirk and Johnny gathered in around a frowning Russell and smiled as I took the photo of them. The three of us then ran off and Russell soon got up hitting Sleaze a bit.
"Hey everyone they're after us, run!" I told the guys in the bushes. Krystal and the others took that as the sign to go and we all took off towards the abandoned tricked house. The aliens and the wolf were behind us, but we were far ahead of them.
Once we got there, I and Starfox climbed through a tube leading into the top window of the house while Ryan and the others climbed up a ladder in the back, pulling it up once they reached the top so the crooks couldn't reach us.
"Where'd they go?" Dirk wondered once they reached our house.
"We're up here, come and get us!" I yelled and took another picture.
"Let's kill them," Sleaze growled.
"Hold on dimwit," Russell said putting an arm in front of him. "These guys probably have some big plan in there so they can capture us and turn us over to the police."
"What can these guys do?" Johnny jumped in. "It's an abandoned house ready for demolishing." "They don't have any weapons or anything in there that can harm us."
"Can I do the thinking here moron?" Russell replied giving him an ugly look. "Watch this." "Hey you guys!" he shouted to Morrell and us. "Nothing would be greater than to kill you." "Driving a knife through your body would be awesome yet I can't afford anymore damage to my craptacular image." "So I'll make you a deal, you send the human down with the cellphone and I promise I won't hurt you."
"You promise?" asked Morrell.
"I cross my heart and hope to die," Russell responded. He then snickered quietly to the others. Of course we knew what he said was absolute crap so instead Morrell picked up a brick from a big stack next to him. "Okay guys, give it to me!"
"Wait can I have the first throw?" Ryan asked. "I need payback for him."
"Sure love," Morrell replied kissing him on the cheek. Ryan took the brick and threw it down. It smacked Russell right on the head and he fell over.
"Direct hit!" Ryan cheered.
Russell stumbled up a bit before rubbing his sore head.
"How many fingers am I holding up?" Dirk asked showing him two fingers.
Of course with most cartoons when a character tries looking at a pair of fingers, their vision is usually blurred and the wolf was seeing two hands instead of one.
"Uhh six?" replied Russell. The human looked at his hands puzzled.
"Okay if you want to throw bricks, go ahead and throw another!" Dirk yelled. His answer came as Morrell threw a couple which smacked Sleaze and Johnny on the head. Despite being a rhino, Johnny fell over from the impact.
"You're going to lose if you keep this up!" the human shouted up to us. We waited a bit before deciding to throw something else. "Come on boss and you guys, they don't got anymore bricks." Dirk of course didn't know that Ky actually held another one in his hand while the other 3 were getting up. Sleaze looked up and tried saying something to stop it, but all that came out was some babbling.
"What is it?" Dirk asked. Sleaze tried speaking clearly, but all he could say was gibberish. "Speak up moron, I don't understand you!" So Sleaze pointed up instead as Ky threw the brick over. Dirk looked up and ducked out of the way of the brick which hit Russell instead.
"That did it, you want to play dirty, we'll play dirty!" yelled Dirk. "Come on you guys, get up!" "Russell you take the side, Johnny and Sleaze, go in the front and I'll take the back." The human ran off muttering angrily.
On top of the roof, me and the others took our cue to head back inside ready to trap them.
Outside Johnny, sleaze and Russell recovered and stood up. While Russell headed to the side, Johnny started walking up the steps and Sleaze saw a string which he started climbing on. The string however was attached to a flower pot which fell over as soon as he pulled it. Clubbing the wolf on the head, he fell over again.
"What a idiot," Johnny mumbled to himself. He grabbed the doorknob only to discover it was on a string. "What the hell?" He kept pulling on the string which seemed to get longer. Unknown to him, that string was connected around the trigger of a staple gun and each yank brought it closer to the trigger.
"Come on you stupid," the rhino grumbled. Yanking on the string again, the one around the gun came in closer and closer. Feeling frustrated, he put his butt against the hole and yanked it hard. That one squeezed the handle and shot a staple right in his butt.
"Holy G-force!" cried Johnny as it went inside his rear. It felt quite painful.
Around the back, Dirk spotted a ladder left open. He thought that this pull-up one must have been one that the guys left unprotected.
"You guys are dead meat," Dirk laughed evilly as he started climbing up it. Falco however thought ahead and covered the top bars with slick red paint so he couldn't climb up it properly. There was also another string attached to a surprise at the top. Dirk almost made it when he grabbed the slippery bars and began losing his grip. Panicking he grabbed onto the string only to be greeted by a desk chair which swung over the edge and knocked him to the ground.
Back around the front, Johnny turned around and yanked on the string a few more times. Being stupid, he ended up with three staples fired into his crotch causing him to fall over. While he fell over, he accidentally pulled the string and it shot one into his left eye. Screaming agony, he fell right on his back.
While that occurred, Sleaze recovered and saw an open window above him.
"Of course, that makes more sense," Sleaze muttered to himself. Finding a garbage can, a heavy box full of phone books and a oil can, the wolf stacked them on top of each other and climbed up. "Here I come you morons," the wolf chuckled as he climbed inside. As he climbed in, he stepped in something sticky. Looking down, he saw a disgusting feature.
"Oh my god, you cannot be serious!" Sleaze had stepped into two wagons filled with adhesive, courtesy of Shane and Fara. Carefully moving around, Sleaze had to look for furniture to grab on so he could maneuver around without falling over.
Johnny meanwhile had angrily pulled out the eye staple stuck in him. Growling angrily, he got up and yanked the ones out of his balls and then his butt. This time, the rhino pushed the door open roughly with his right foot. Looking around, he saw Sleaze maneuvering in wagons, but no sign of the gang.
"Sleaze, I've reached the top!" Johnny yelled. He stepped forward without seeing the large hole in front of him and accidentally fell through it landing on his face hard. Lifting his head up, he rotated to the left getting a loud snap and then fainted.
On the right side of the house, Russell had made his way around after recovering and walked up a staircase. On the other side of the door of the staircase, Shane fixed up a wire which ran outside the door through a hole connected to a tool bag full of crap and a container on top of it. Jiggling the knob, Russell laughed and Shane then ran off.
"You got to do better than locking a door punk!" yelled Russell. Kicking the door opened, he thought he had it, but instead he got a shower of tools and some NES cartridges raining down on his head. Then a paint can came down and clobbered him on the head and he passed out again.
"I'm coming Johnny!" Sleaze called when he heard him come through the door. He wheeled over to the hole for a look, but went too fast and fell in landing on Johnny's back.
Grumbling from the impact, Russell rubbed his head again and then picked up an NES cartridge to see what title it is.
"Oh you think you're smart Ryan," he said gritting his teeth. "Just wait till I get you, you're going to be sorry you and your friends did this to me." He hobbled into the house and turned on a light switch. It came on and nothing happened. Smirking to himself, Black found another light string. Pulling on it, he got dog crap on his head. "It's going to take more than poop on my head to stop me," the wolf said to himself.
Down in the basement, Sleaze climbed off Johnny. Standing up, the rhino arched his back getting a big crack from his bones to straighten himself out.
"Wow, that's a big hole," said Johnny looking up. Positioning himself correctly, he looked over at Sleaze. "What happened to you?"
"Apparently some of those punks put adhesive wagons under a window," replied Sleaze. "Can you help me?" Johnny walked over and ripped the wagons apart using his alien strength. "Thank you."
"No problem," Johnny responded giving him a highfive. "Hey I see a safe string over there, maybe we climb on it to get out of here. They both walked over to the string, but forgot about the slippery paint on the ground. Slipping and sliding, the two landed on their backs and slid towards a shelf which fell over on top of them.
Upstairs Russell looked inside a bathroom, but couldn't see anything. He found another light string and pulled on it. However that string was connected to a blowtorch and it lit his head up as soon as he pulled it. Now the dog crap had been sitting on his head still so the fire start to spread around the turds.
"Hey what smells like burning crap?" Russell wondered sniffing the air. Looking over to a cracked mirror on the right, he gaped in horror at his answer.
"Aah, aah, oh god my hair is on fire like that chick from the crazy music video!" screamed Russell. He fidgeted with the taps of a rusty sink except no water came out of the pipes. He then saw a toilet filled with clear fluid. Lifting himself up, he leaned in to dunk his head.
The result was quite amazing, what he got instead was an explosion. The toilet in fact had been filled with flammable paint thinner. The fire was now out, but now Russell had a torched head and black teeth.
Sleaze and Johnny were a mess. The shelf that fell on them had paint cans and both the wolf and rhino were covered in rainbow colors. Lifting the shelf up, they crawled over to a sink where the pips were connected with a generator on it. Katt hid on the other side and turned it on. Grabbing the taps, Sleaze and Johnny started screaming as the electricity began shocking them making them flail about. Turning up the power a little bit, Katt looked over and saw that the two of them were crazily morphing back and forth so she turned it off. Shaking crazily, the two collapsed.
Rubbing his head, Dirk had gotten up and was now proceeding into the house too. He wanted to kill one of them so badly.
After the "shock therapy" Sleaze began crawling over to the string and looked up. Pulling on it, nothing happened. Smiling and thinking it wasn't a trap, he yanked on it harder and instead the string came falling faster. Looking up, it had been wrapped around a bag of dry cement which fell hard on top of him.
"I'm going to cut open those freaks," Sleaze coughed. He sneezed cement out his nose after that.
In the bathroom, Russell wiped off his black residue on his teeth while looking in the cracked mirror to see how much he got off.
Johnny downstairs had gotten up and helped Sleaze build a stack of crappy furniture to stand on so they could get through the floor's hole. It sort of wobbled, but they climbed up on it nonetheless. Unfortunately as they grabbed onto the floor, the pile fell over and they were left hanging onto the floor. Just then Ryan came by to climb up the ladder.
"Hey!" shouted Sleaze.
"Don't you guys know when to quit?" smiled Ryan. He climbed up the ladder where Slippy waited at the top to help him up.
"Russell, Ryan's in the living room!" shouted Sleaze. Russell stormed out the bathroom grumbling angrily. "He climbed that ladder!" Gripping the ladder, Russell began climbing it, but then it start to crack.
"Aaah!" screamed Russell as the ladder broke off and fell forward. The wolf emitted a groan as he lay stunned from the fall.
"We're coming boss," Johnny grunted. He and the other wolf struggled and got up. They ran over to Russell just as Dirk came in to assist.
"Geez man, where've you been?" asked Johnny to Dirk.
"Recovering after a can clobbered me on the head," was Dirk's response. "Hey boss, you didn't lose any teeth!" He tried helping the wolf stand on his hands to get up.
"Hey you guys could try the stairs," laughed Slippy peering down into the hole.
"Right," said Sleaze. They ran over to the staircase, carefully maneuvering around a big hole in front of it. Dirk started to climb in front. At the top Ky readied a paintcan on a string.
"Oh I'm going to enjoy this," Ky smirked as he threw it overboard. Sailing down, it smacked Dirk sending him flying into the hole and into the pan of manure Falco lay below.
"I'll get him!" Johnny yelled. Starting up the stairs, a paintcan from Shane swung into his face and he fell down the hole too.
"Whoa, I've never felt so alive!" Shane exclaimed at the top giving his brother a high-five.
"They're going to try again," Russell said. "I've got it figured out though. Let's kill!" He stomped on the stairs giving off the illusion that they were going up the steps. Falco threw a paintcan overboard, but Russell just stepped aside and punched it instead so they would think it hit him. "Ouch, I think I lost a tooth!" he called out snickering quietly. Fox had his can ready.
"Don't worry, I've got it covered!" shouted Johnny. He gave off the fake climbing sound and Fox's can went right past him. "Agh, my nose hurts!" He shouted laughing quietly. "Come on boss, let's get them." The two started up the stairs again unaware that there was another surprise prepared for them from Snow and Equinox.
"Ready bro?" asked Equinox.
"Ready, let's do it," Snow replied. Heaving they threw a pipe on a string. Russell and Johnny didn't see it coming and it clanged into them sending them into the manure hole. Then Blaze cut the rope with his talon and the pipe bounced down the stairs and landed on top of the four.
"We got to get to the roof," Fara advised us. We quickly headed up another staircase with Fox and Slippy preparing the next trap.
Dirk and the 3 were stacking another pair of basement crap so they could climb out of here. They only managed to get to the top in time as the pile collapsed. Then they headed to the staircase pushing the paint cans out of the way, still stinking of crap even though they wiped it off with old rags.
"You better pray for your life you dead beats!" shouted Dirk
"Your boyfriend's head will make a good mantelpiece in my living room Ryan!" screamed Russell.
At the top, Starfox, Shane, Ky, Fara and Katt climbed down another rope, then the Lucians and finally Morrell.
"Can you fly me down Kevin?" asked Ryan.
"Well I haven't practiced much, but I'll try," I replied. Holding the human tight, I spread my wings and jumped. Surprisingly I flew well and I went down, touching the ground safely. Ryan then walked over to Morrell and gave him a huge hug. We lay out another rope for the goons which had loose ends and pulled down ours so they couldn't climb down.
"We'll have to climb down," Russell told the others. He went first, then Johnny, Dirk and then Sleaze. They were doing well till about halfway. The rope started to rip, then it teared and finally broke.
"AAAHH!" screamed the four as they fell to the ground hitting a board of paintcans. Looking up, they gasped as the paint cans showered a storm of varnish on them. Wiping his eyes, Black angrily got up.
"Now you're dead!" shouted the wolf. As soon as he got up, a light flashed in his face.
"Freeze dirt bag!" shouted the bear officer who held the light. There were several cop cars, a Cornerian institution van as well as Beltino, General Pepper and Peppy and more officers standing around them.
"Russell Black, you are under arrest for attempting to enslave this town, working with extraterrestrials and breaking into a laboratory to steal weapons," the officer continued. "You shall be taken into custody and the aliens will go to another lab for quarantine."
"Crap," growled the wolf as a pig officer cuffed him and lead him into the car. One of the pig officers ran over to the staircase and grabbed the bag of weapons to give to aother officer. Peppy, Beltino and Pepper ran over to Fox.
"Well done Starfox!" General Pepper huffed saluting the four. "You've just prevented the take-over of our town and saved the day!"
"Well we all had a little help," Fox smiled pointing to the rest of us. Peppy put a hand on his shoulder.
"Fox, your father would be so happy if he were still here today," the hare spoke to him. "I'm glad you're here with us to carry on his legacy.
"No problem Peppy, I'm always here to save the day as long as I have my friends," the vulpine replied back. While we were cheering, no of us noticed that Russell gave Ryan a sad look as the pig officer cuffing him lead him into the car.
_thought Ryan as the cop car with Russell drove away.
Ugh, it took awhile but chapter 12 is finally up. I know the main characters that weren't the goons didn't speak much, but I might update it to give them more lines if I think of any. A few things about this chapter:_
Two of the goons names came from a game and one from a movie. Dirk's name is of Dirk the Daring of the game Dragon's Lair for the NES and Johnny's name came from Johnny the mobber of the spoof movie Angels With Filthy souls. Sleaze's name was just one that I picked up from watching a lot of goon movies and TV so it's not as special
The first title half "Time For Trouble" is from a season 3 Thomas the tank engine episode and the other half "Search and rescue time" came from the phrase before level 4 of Skate Or Die 2: The Search For Double Trouble on the NES.
Now go review my friends! Don't be afraid to tell me what you think of it.
