The Spy Who...Loved Me?

Astor reminisces about the time he first met his favorite white Vixen; long before he became the most-wanted man on the continent.

I met her on a fateful night. Fateful...I suppose would be the wrong word, it was moreso guaranteed, that is a much better word, to happen due to a combination of pride, indolence, and ignorance. But these traits often make the best stories, so I will continue without humiliation.

There I was, standing outside The High Tail, the most prestigious tavern in Wolf, the Capital City of the Wolven Empire (And, as always, I must point out the inherent lack of imagination the Wolves have when it comes to naming things of importance. There, we’re done, let us continue.) without any backup or having told anyone that I would be there, leaving me open to being murdered, captured, tortured, or all of the above, possibly in an order that I could not conceive of. But I was young, hastily promoted into the espionage department of His Royal Highness, the King of All Wolves’s army, and eager to prove myself despite my obvious handicap of being a human in a Wolven company; and naturally when I heard rumors that a seductive Fox assassin was planning on infiltrating his harem and slitting his throat, I felt the need to take care of her personally and without assistance.

I still cringe at remembering my burgandy doublet with matching pantaloons. At the same time, I am still at awe in my ability to stash daggers in the sleeves with subtle enough padding to hide them but not make my arm look conspicuous. It was good enough to fool the meaty wall of a doorman who patted me down with paws that could crush my skull in an instant.

Then I was in. In some ways the place was a disappointment. It was full of merchant-class individuals throwing money around willy-nilly and buying decadent drinks that I could only dream of, but everyone was wearing clothes so expensive that they were hand-sewn by a single slave bred and trained to weave one outfit and then hand their hands crushed so as to increase the value and rarity of it all; as a result, despite everyone being overtly merry, everyone was far too afraid to spill their drink, lest their garment be damaged.

It was kind of fucked up, if you ask me.

Maybe that’s what drew me to her. Everyone else was so, so careful, daintily pinching their wine glasses and sipping slightly...ever so slightly, even for Beasts, whom, as everyone knows, unless they’re an Equine or a Bear, cannot match a human at alcohol.

Then there was her. White-furred from head to tail, dressed in a matching white velvet dress that clung to her slim form with absolute elegance. And yet, despite it all, she lifted up a stein of beer, pressed it against her mouth and chugged it down, the whole time never making any of her upper-class fellow drinkers think her a lout. Once finished, she wiped the foam off her black lips and carefully, covertly, burped, covering her mouth.

It was too bad she had to die.

A wolf who sat on her right, gray-furred and obviously more drunk than he had ever been before, stood up and mumbled a farewell flirt, which went unnoticed, and stumbled away. Without wasting an instant, I stole his spot, still warm.

“May I buy you a round?” I asked.

She snorted, lifting her muzzle, “For what purpose?”

Haughty, I thought, switching tactics.

“This lowly human has never seen a more beautiful Vixen.”

“Hah!” she laughed, “So be it! Ursine Mead.”

Frowning, I looked from side to side, “Ursine Mead?”

“Ursine Mead,” she stated plainly, turning her face to me, a smirk crawling around her muzzle, “What? I thought Humans could handle their liquor?”

I raised my hand, extending my pinkie finger, a signal towards the barkeep whom I had made a deal with, “Two Ursine Meads.”

Within moments a pair of small mugs were placed at our fronts, the dainty scent of honey liquor wafting up into our nostrils. This was both an opportunity and a setback. On the one hand, the strong smell and taste of the Mead would no doubt mask the poison, even to a canine such as herself; on the other hand, the drink was potent and I was likely to end up just as drugged as her if she had half a mind to order more rounds.

I lifted the mug and tapped it against hers, “To the King of All Wolves.”

“May he have a long and fertile life.”

It was like swallowing sweet fire. My stomach was alight for a good half hour after downing it and I feared for a moment that I had been betrayed or had been given the wrong drink. The world started spinning for just a second.

“So, what does this lowly Human do?” she asked, running her tongue around the rim of her mug, an action that caused an unexpected amount of hardening in my trousers.

“Army,” I blurted out. Immediately I cursed myself, it was not a bad cover story for most people, but being long-haired, bearded, and out of uniform, it screamed to even the most novice spy that I was someone of importance one way or another.

“An Army-boy, hm?” she murmured, making a motion with her hand towards the barkeep, “I bet you’ve got girls all over the Kingdom that think you’re their man.”

“No,” I said, noticing another round of mead was placed on the bar, “I’m looking for...”

A single, clawed finger pressed itself against my lips. I smelt the light musky scene of her fur wafting into my nostrils and my trouser crotch became a veritable tent, “Ssh. Drink.”

I drank it back. This was a bad idea, but I did it.

Reeling a little, I continued, trying to maintain some degree of smoothness, “I’m looking...for the right girl.”

“Oh ho?” she snorted, leaning forward, her moist, black nose nearly nuzzling up against mine, “And here I thought all soldiers took what they wanted. See a pretty Fox in your village post? She’s yours for your service. Are you telling me you’re different?”

“It takes all kinds. I happen...” I felt my stomach rumbling a little and paused, “I happen to be a romantic.”

“Well,” she smile, lightly rubbing her nose against mine, sending jolts of pleasure down my chest, “So am I.”

She began to lift her paw once again, but I grabbed it, forcing it down and clutching her palm in mine. Stroking it gently, I matched her gaze; her eyes, they were violent, rare for humans, even rarer for a Fox.

“This one’s on me,” I said.”

“No, I...”

“No, it’s on me.”

I gave the barkeep my hand signal and exclaimed, “Whisky!”

Two shots were slammed in front of us. We clinked our glasses together.

She leaned forward and whispered huskily, “To sexy humans.”

Blushing, and a little taken aback, I whispered back, “To Vixens.”

We downed them both. At this point, I was a little concerned. She was a Fox, slim as could be for one regardless of her color, but even for a White Fox, she was dainty. However, she showed little signs of being drunk. Perhaps, however, that was me being unable to identify the signs, having had at least two rounds of absurdly powerful alcohol.

“So tell me, Human, what’s your name?”

“Astor,” I said, unable to hold back my honesty, “And you, Fox?”

“Minerva.”

“Pretty.”

“Hm,” she grunted, once against running her thin tongue around the rim of her glass, “Here’s a question, Army-boy.”

“Yeah?”

“The King of All Wolves invites you to an audience. He brings out three of his most beautiful slave-girls, a Fox, a Feline, and a Human. He then tells you that in honor of your achievements, you can have one, for now and forever. Which do you pick?”

I couldn’t tell where she was going with this. Even inebriated, I felt that picking the wrong option would lead to a bad end by dawn.

“What does the Fox look like?” I asked, leaning forward and nearly stumbling off my stool.

“She’s white-furred with violet eyes and wearing a matching dress,” Minerva leaned forward, nuzzling against my earlobe and licking at it, “And she wants you as much as you want her.”

Shocked, I whispered back, “Shall we rent a room?”

“Already done. But first, one more drink,” she turned towards the barkeep, “Ursine mead! Double!”

A sober corner of my brain dared to speak up at this point. He dared to suggest that perhaps my barkeep friend was not such a good friend after all and that he could be double-dealing us and I would never know because him being a Wolf and her being a Fox, they could share scent or vocalizations that I, as a human, would never hear.

Naturally, I told that corner to shut the fuck up and I downed the next mug in one gulp.

It may have been the alcohol effecting my mind, but I smelt her, I felt her heat. She wanted me, spy or not. I was in. All I had to do was lead the way.

“Let’s go...”I murmured, stumbling out of my seat.

Before I could get my bearings, I felt whiskers brush against my cheek and the warmth of lips press against mine. A cold nose nuzzled against my own and all I could do is close my eyes and enjoy the moment. Her tongue, slipped past my lips and I embraced it with my own. She finally pulled away, leaning her muzzle close to my ear.

Whispering, she said, “Let’s go.”

I don’t remember climbing the stairs. Come to think of it, I don’t remember if The High Tail had bedrooms upstairs or in the basement, or perhaps both. Regardless, I found myself one floor higher or lower, in a room alone with her and one massive bed with a wooden chest at the front of it. Had I been more sober, I would have noticed the shackles attached to a chain leading from the bedpost, perhaps left-overs from the previous tenant, but alas…

Click.

Shit.

“Well, well,” she murmured huskily, leaning her thighs against my crotch, “Looks like the Fox has caught some prey.”

“Hey, come on,” I said, panicking only a little bit, having not realized the gravity of the situation, “This isn’t really my thing...”

It was, actually, but that’s not really relevant here…

“Mmm,” she moaned, slipping down her dress to reveal the top row of her nipples against her flat chest, “I think it is. And you’re going to help me.”

“I don’t know...”

“You’re going to help me get into the Palace.”

I could barely conceal my laughter.

“How...the hell do you expect me to get you into there? What the hell do you even expect to…?”

“I intend to kill him. The King of All Wolves,” she said, yanking down my trousers and grinding against my rock-hard cock.

Groaning, partly from the pleasure of her thighs and partly because of the situation I found myself in, I replied, “What do you expect me to do?”

“Your name is Astor. Most likely you are his trusted Human agent, the one he can trust the most when it comes to interspecies affairs. You’ll be my entryway.”

“That’s great, great, a great plan,” I rambled before raising my index finger, “One problem. I’ve never met him before.”

She froze, her lips frowning, “What?”

“Yeah, uh, funny story about that. The closest encounter I ever had with him was when the head of intelligence demanded I bend over with my pants down and then, well, fucked me in the ass while demanding I pledge allegiance to him on behalf of the King,” I laughed at the absurdity of it all, despite the pain it brought back, “Wolves huh?”

“But...” she continued without missing a beat, “You are acquainted with the head of intelligence?”

Shit.

“He may...or may not be, my boss...”

“Then...I assume he screens people who attend audiences?”

“Among many...”

“How about harem appointments?”

I paused.

“Look, if you’re going this far just to get laid by a rich Wolf, you can do that just about anywhere by exposing your crotch at a fancy bar and...”

A clawed paw raked across my cheek.

“Ah! Fuck!” I spat out blood that had trickled down my lips.

“If you don’t help me...I have friends who would love to have a good time with you.”

“Yeah? Fuck, I’d probably show them a good time; better than any you’ve given em...”

Her paw reared back, claws extended and prepared to strike…

A banging at the door rang out.

“Your drinks, Madame Vixen,” echoed from beyond the door.

“Please, come in!”

Aside from the barkeep, I had paid a Lynx slave working at the bar enough money to buy his freedom, in exchange for providing a heavily drugged drink as soon as I was led or led my target to the room. The question was, was this the same slave?

The door opened and I saw a small, spotted, brown feline step in with two glasses of wine resting atop a metal platter. It was him. The question then turned to, Was he taking my money, or hers as well?

“Ah,” he stammered, placing the glasses on the end tables, “It looks like you’re enjoying your stay here.”

“You’re free to join us,” she whispered, pinching at the wine stem and bringing the bowl to her tiny, black nose, “He always had a thing for Feline men.”

“The hel…!?” I began to shout before receiving a jab in the ribs.

“I, uh...I couldn’t...my boss would...”

“Don’t worry,” she whispered, prying my mouth open and pouring a glass of wine down it. An intense burn traced its way down my throat, much more-so than a normal gulp of wine. Now I was in trouble. “We’ll leave a generous tip, won’t we?”

“I...paid...pay you...” I slurred, a thin trail of drool drooping out from my lips.

“Hm? What was that?” the Vixen lapped at my bleeding cheek, which was the last bit of pleasure I felt before my body started going numb. Without waiting for a response, she yanked the Lynx over by the collar, pulling him onto the bed atop me. Squishing her nose against his, she gently licked at his lips, “Mmm, I think he’s had too much to drink, don’t you?”

“Mm,” the Lynx muttered, reaching covertly under her dress.

“No,” she stated, pulling his paw away, “First you have to...” she paused, her eyelids drooping for a second before snapping back to attention, “We agreed, you’ve got to work him first. Then you’ll get the money and me...”

“Wha…!” I exclaimed as loud as I could, which, thanks to my numb lips and throat, was not very loud or coherent, “Ah...pay...’im.”

Minerva didn’t respond for a bit, appearing to have dozed off, “Did he say something?”

“I think he was begging for me to attend to him,” the Lynx said, crawling atop me with a smirk.

Groaning. Minerva took a seat in a chair beside the bed, reaching under her dress and rubbing at herself. Her mouth opened and her long tongue lolled out casually, “Begin...with a kiss. Always found that...mmm...”

“Mi...Min...he...”

I couldn’t speak any further, even if I hadn’t been drugged, for the Lynx brought his pink nose against mine, rubbing at it and then joining his lips with mine and giving me a very Human kiss, which I was helpless to resist against.

Had I any feeling, no doubt his rough tongue would have been slightly pleasureable even in this dangerous situation, growing up as I did under Wolven heel, you try to find the positive in any situation beyond your control; but as it was now, I just felt uncomfortable and more of an observer than an unwilling participant.

However, this quickly became a very big positive.

Almost instantly, the Feline’s face was gone, replaced with an erect, barbed shaft waving side to side.

“Lick it,” he echoed.

Naturally, I couldn’t do anything. I was already starting to blackout. No doubt Minerva was in the same state, but I could only see a think haze in her direction.

“If you’re not going to lick it...”

I saw my legs lifted up, exposing my ass. I did not feel it. I saw a brown-furred thigh with a pink member drawing closer.

Then I was out.

I awoke later but I could not open my eyes. I felt I was in a dark tunnel, stuck, with no escape. Only the occasional twitch of my fingers reminded me that I was alive.

It was the sweet smell of Fox musk that finally led me to escape the tunnel and awake for real. That wonderful smell, often considered to be the one downside of the most desirable of the species, it was my weakness. I loved it. I wished that I could wake up to it every morning.

And the best part about it was embracing the boy or girl giving off such a lovely smell.

My attempt at reaching forward was halted by the rattle of chains. I was not to be deterred; I shuffled my body towards the source and upon feeling thick fur with my toes, I wrapped my legs around her.

Grrrrrrrrr.

Jumping back, I opened my eyes and saw her, the white Fox from last night, snarling with all the ferocity she could muster. To my surprise, I saw that her arms were also chained up against the bedpost and she was completely naked, her thick coat almost entirely covering up her rows of nipples.

“Well, ours plans backfired, didn’t they?”

Her lips peeled back in a snarl, the top of her muzzle wrinkling, “When I get out of here, Human, I’ll rip your throat out!”

“I tried to warn you that I paid him off as well. Guess he saw two rubes with money and figured he could buy his freedom and, hell, whatever he wants for a good awhile. Boy, did we get played or what?”

Her snarl diminished, hate still glowing in her violet eyes, “Don’t you fucking laugh at this.”

“Hey, setbacks happen! It could have been much worse, I haven’t betrayed my employer, I’ve captured the would-be assassin...well, looks like I captured myself as well and I’ve lost most of my money, but hey, I’m sure I’ll get out of here and it is payday tomorrow, after all.”

She glared back at me.

“So, uh, you got keys for these things or what?”

“No.”

“That’s...” I paused, pulling at the shackles, “Really?”

“They came with the room.”

“The hell kind of tavern is this?” I muttered, “Anyway, my partner will be here soon, so...”

She sniffed at the air, “You’re lying.”

“No, I’m not,” I lied, “I grew up with Wolves, I know you can’t really tell someone’s lying that way.”

“Foxes can.”

“My best friend growing up was one too, he was always full of shit when he said that.”

“Well, then,” she whispered, stretching her legs and spreading her toes, “Let’s just wait for him then, hm?”

I paused for a moment, “I suppose you’ve got a partner that’ll show up first then?”

“Perhaps,” she said, her left ear twitching sharply.

“You’re lying.”

“No,” she muttered, ears lowering, “He’s coming and he’s not going to be happy.”

“Why’s that?”

“That Lynx just stole our mission funds. Leadership will be very unhappy. They might switch to the backup plan, but most likely we’ll have to call it off and then...I won’t have much longer to live.”

“That’s rough. It’d be a waste, losing a pretty girl like you. I guess if your partner calls the mission off, he won’t have much of a need for me either, huh?”

“He might enjoy having you for a few nights, but after that, your body would be floating in the river.”

“So, I guess our best bet is to join forces.”

She stared back, her anger seemingly abating if only for a moment.

“I’m guessing you’re working for a rebel group of some kind...Vulpine Clans? Abolitionists?”

“Perhaps.”

“But whoever they are, you seem to value money and self-preservation more, rather than any ideals they believe in.”

“Perhaps,” she repeated, rolling her eyes, “Where are you going with this?”

“You’re going to come with me back to headquarters. You’re going to defect and surrender some information about your group and offer to act as a double-agent. This way, you’ll live, get a new job, and best of all, I’ll get a huge bonus and recognition for seducing...” I paused, watching her eyes sharpen; the slightest hint of a grin revealing her true reaction, “I mean, for convincing a potential assassin to turn sides. You live, I live, the King of All Wolves lives...we all live happily ever after.”

“I don’t consider him living to be a positive.”

“Neither do I, but that’s life, huh?” I shrugged, rattling the bindings, “Sometimes you gotta compromise, you know?”

She paused, turning her muzzle away. Her fluffy tail flicked hypnotically as she was lost in thought.

Turning back to face me, she sighed, “You win, Human. I’ll play along, for now.”

“Great! Ah, that’s great,” I sighed in relief, pulling at the shackles once more, “Now, uh, we’d better get out of here before your partner shows up. Sure wish I was a mage right now...”

“He won’t be here until the evening,” she looked towards the window, which had morning sunlight beaming through, “We’ve got plenty of time...”

“Plenty of time for…?”

Her muzzle shot forward, her wet nose brushing against mine. Panting, her tongue slid against my chin and my cock stood up, aching with pleasure.

“Getting what that fucking cat stole from me.”

“I don’t have the money, he...”

She stared at me.

“Oh.”

She maneuvered her hips towards mine, wrapping her legs around me and expertly positioning my cock against her oozing pussy. I didn’t have to be a Wolf or a Fox to smell that her musk had grown stronger and she wanted this real badly.

I thrust my cock in and she groaned in delight, jostling her hips as I entered deeper. It was tight, like a virgin, like a Vixen, but she was experienced, I could tell as she tightened her thighs around my shaft.

“You smell nice...” I sniffed, breathing in more of her scent.

“Mm...you smell like a cat.”

I paused, not sure how to react.

“I like that.”

Satisfied, I continued pounding her tight snatch; at least as well as I could with my limited movement. She didn’t seem to mind.

“Ah...ah...” her mouth went agape, letting her tongue roll out. I leaned towards her, licking her nose once before exploring her mouth with my own tongue. She closed her lips, letting me press mine against hers.

I wanted to rub my palms down her flat chest. I wanted to play with all of her many nipples and make them erect. I wanted to grab her tail and rub her ass before taking her from behind. I wanted more…

“I’m coming...”

She didn’t respond aside from moaning with pleasure.

“I said...”

“Inside!” she exclaimed with an irritated groan, “It’s not like you can get me...”

I came; my hot seed silencing her complaints down to a low, contented moan as it shot into her. I wished I was a Wolf or a Fox, just this once, so that I may knot her and keep my seed inside her. Instead, being human, it leaked out, running down my shaft. I retracted, spilling it all over the sheets.

“Normally this is where I’d lick you clean, but...” she stopped to shake the shackles, “Thank you, you were...good.”

“Only good?”

“We were limited this time. We shall have to try again sometime.”

“Looking forward to it,” I said, kissing her on the top of her nose.

“As am I.”

Sighing, I looked up at the shackles and began pulling, “You know, I bet there’s some trick to these...”

Click.

My hands came free.

“What did you do!?” she screamed, rattling hers in a panic, “What the hell did you do!?”

“I don’t know!” I looked at the loose cuffs; they weren’t real prison manacles, they were strictly for the bedroom and no doubt had a trick to opening them. Only problem was that I lucked my way into opening mine.

“Let me go!”

“I don’t know how!” I shouted in frustration. Calming myself, I spoke, “Look, I’ll just go downstairs and get them to unlock them.”

She froze, concern growing on her face.

“I’ll be right back, okay?”

Stepping towards the exit, she whispered, causing me to come to a halt.

“Remember our deal...please, Astor.”

I could have betrayed her. I could have forgotten about the whole double-agent pland and simply turned her into headquarters where she would have been tortured, interrogated, and then killed. It would have been better for my career and I wouldn’t be burdened with a potentially dangerous element such as a would-be assassin who, no doubt, still held an urge to kill the King. It would have been the smart thing to do.

But my bosses always said I was bad at making rational decisions.

I went to reception. They got her out and gave us a set of clothing and a promise of free drinks next time we were over as an apology for the whole incident. Apparently the Lynx had come to the conclusion that he’d have even more money if he skipped buying his freedom and simply left town, because he was gone. No traces remained.

Headquarters bought the story and I was rewarded. “You showed initiative,” they told me, shorthand for, “You disobeyed orders, but everything turn out alright, so...good job, don’t do it again.”

Despite their reluctant approval, I was promised a big job in the future. Something only a human could do.

I asked if I could take Minerva along. They said yes.

They would live to regret letting me do that.

But that’s all in the past. All of it. All except for my feelings for her.

And she certainly doesn’t feel the same. How could she?
