Desert Decennial
#4 of Desert
Part Four of this little series I've been working on. This was a blast to work on. It's a little more romance-heavy but there's still plenty of smut and I build a bit more of their lives and I dunno. I love these two a lot so I want to keep going with them. Enjoy!
David's whole body ached, every muscle screamed in pain with even the most minute of movements. Hell, breathing hurt. Breathing hurt. It was awful and he hated every minute of it. But, if Jessica wanted a workout partner, he'd gladly do it for her. His wife insisted that the two of them join a gym together and go as best they could with Katherine. Katherine...
David smiled, hoisting his daughter off the changing table. She'd grown so much, her little smile, and the defiant screams of, "Yeah!" whenever she was told she couldn't do something. His baby girl was growing so quickly and David couldn't believe how lucky he was that she was his child. He loved every moment with his daughter, even when she was a handful. It was hard not to.
Usually, the dogs would have his parents come over so they could go for a jog together, or they'd trade off going to the gym as best they could. David didn't mind working at home. Hell, though it led to the... incident with the Lynx, David wanted nothing more than to stay at home with Katherine while Jessica went off to work. His job could usually be done from home and if he had to go into the office, the day care was just downstairs. The shepherd instincts to protect his family ran strong in his blood. But today was something different. Today wasn't a day for work or taking care of his daughter.
His mom was at the door right at 3:30, a curt smile on her face before she saw Katherine. One she saw her granddaughter, her whole face lit up.
"Dad coming too?" David asked her.
"He's picking up dinner for us. We'll be fine," his mom said.
David stood at the door, keys in hand. He stared at his mom for a moment, seeing her smile and coo at her granddaughter. The twinkle in her eyes something that David remembered seeing when he was a child.
"Hey mom?" David managed through a heavy tongue.
"Yes, David?" she said, looking at David and getting a tuft of fur tugged from her face by Katherine.
"I just, uh, I love you. And I appreciate you two helping out with Katherine."
The older shepherd looked at her son for a moment and nodded, a smile on her face, her eyes softer than he'd seem them in a long time.
"Love you too, dear. Now go and enjoy your anniversary!"
David turned to leave before stopping. He moved back to his mom and his arms wrapped around her in a tight hug, squeezing her for a brief moment, lips pressed to the top of her head. He kissed his daughter's cheek and she let out a quiet squeak.
"Daahy!"
Every parent in the world thought this at some point, but David was convinced that was the cutest thing any child would ever say or do.
Turning to leave, David closed the door behind him, thinking about his mom. Maybe that smile meant... Now wasn't the time for hopes and maybes and what-ifs.
Climbing into his car, the dog turned the engine over, and pulled out, driving towards Central towards downtown.

"My, aren't you handsome!" squealed the trim red fox at the reception desk. He smiled, looking David over from head to toe with just a hint beyond appreciation. The fox was dressed in a white shirt and a black vest with a little purple tie. It was just a touch gaudy and David knew from experience that however flamboyant and playful Tony might be, he had a heart of gold to back it up.
"Careful now," David grinned. "If Jessica hears you saying that she'll fight you."
Tony scoffed. "I could take her!"
The two stared at one another for a moment before laughing. Jessica was a lot of things but weak wasn't one of them. Tony went to David and hugged him, the shepherd squeezing back, protecting the flowers in his hand as best he could.
"How've you been?" David beamed. "How was the honeymoon?"
"It was amazing, thank you very much!" Tony smiled. "We went to Disneyland and Universal Studios for Harry Potter world!"
David suppressed a laugh, looking at the fox.
"Really?"
Tony frowned, crossing his arms. "Yes, really! It was amazing, thank you very much!" he said, with a bit more venom than David expected. "I didn't want to go anywhere fancy; I just wanted to have fun and be with Alvaro, is that so bad?"
David shook his head.
"Not at all, I just thought it was cute was all," David smiled, patting the fox's shoulder. "You take his name?"
Tony nodded.
"Yeah, it's so pretty, I just..." his ears drooped. "I wanted to be his, I guess."
"Hey, as long as you're happy, nothing wrong with that, Mr. Cervantes," David grinned, his eyes flashing with the playful mischief of guys talking about their partners. Tony had shocked Jessica and David by inviting them to their wedding. They became a little closer after that, occasionally having dinner together. It was just a nice, safe friendship. Both couples had issues they were going through and it helped to talk to someone else about it.
"Is marriage worth it?" Alvaro asked David once, spying a billboard for a wedding planner on their break from the hike.
David remembered rubbing his thumb over his ring for a moment, really giving it thought, given the fights they'd had over something stupid he'd already forgotten.
"Absolutely it is."
Out of his memories, Tony preened for a bit, shifting in place as his cheeks returned to their normal white color.
"What's Jessica's schedule like now?"
"She's all free for whatever you have in mind."
David smiled and went to the door, pushing it open to see his gorgeous wife there at her desk. Her eyes lit up when she saw her husband at the door and she stood up.
"I didn't expect you here," she said, coming to her husband and wrapping her arms around him.
The shepherd held her again him, his arms feeling her firm back through the blazer and skirt she had on.
"I wanted to surprise you. It is our anniversary after all," he licked his lips, smiling at his bride.
"Is it? I hadn't noticed," she laughed, pushing forward until David tasted his wife on his mouth. He ran his paws up her back and then back down.
"Don't do that to me," he laughed, face buried in her muzzle. "You had me worried I messed it up."
She shook her head.
"No, you did fine. You get husband points," she grinned.
"I'm going to trade those in tonight, you know that, right?"
Jessica rolled her eyes and kissed him again, stopping only when the shepherd gasped at the firm grab to his bulge.
"Why wait for tonight?"
David gawked. Jaw hanging open and everything, he gawked. He stared at her, eyes wide and she just giggled, moving to the door and locking it. She came back to her husband, dragging him with her to the desk. Sure, they had the office mostly to themselves with the summer slowing much of life in the Valley down to a crawl but this? This was new.
It was exciting!
Jessica's eyes held all of the mischief and playfulness he remembered from their first meeting at NAU. God, that was so long ago and so fresh in his memory all at once.
"Did you think that I'd be able to see you in that suit and not want every bit of you?" she whispered to him in a low voice. "You're my little pup, aren't you?"
That phrase made his ears drop, but it didn't stop David from nodding his head.
"All yours."
"Good boy," she giggled. Jessica grabbed his face in her paws and forced a kiss on his lips. The shepherd could do nothing to fight her off. She held his face, holding him tight against her and growling. Seizing his hand, she moved it to her skirt and slid it up.
David moved his hand up farther, gliding under the fabric until he found his wife's wet lips. He tried to pull away and say something about her utter lack of panties but she pulled him in closer. The sultry collie was feeling his body with a sort of wonder and familiarity all at once. Jessica's hands went down, pulling his belt open and sliding her hand down to grasp at her husband's cock.
He whined, clutching her close now. His hands worked around her body, holding her just over the tail. She whined and rocked her hips back to his.
"Mmm. I want you to fuck me, David. And you're going to do it, aren't you?"
David had a quiet growl in response, pulling his zipper down. He held onto her throat with one hand and his cock with the other.
Jessica smiled at him, her lips parting by that thick red shaft. The smile was quickly replaced by a gasp when he pushed in so simply. It wasn't anything special or unusual, but still Jessica groaned and David watched her face twist and scrunch up at the sudden intrusion. He smiled, tasting her breath on his tongue. She started things, spurring him on before letting him take over and dammit if that wasn't the hottest fucking thing on the planet to the horny shepherd. Feeling wanted like that--by someone like Jessica--was a feeling that David could only describe as electrifying.
Tony was right outside and the fox could surely hear what was going on, and if he didn't hear, it would be pretty easy to figure out by the soft gasps and wet slurping that the two of them always made. Or the scent of dogs that would follow them in the aftermath. David smiled at his wife, clutching her hand in his and giving it a squeeze.
"Love you," David smiled.
Jessica didn't reply. She squeezed down around his cock, making the shaft throb inside her. The look on her face made David grunt. If that's how she wanted it, well, who was he to complain? He pushed in slow, getting so deep that it almost hurt. Almost. They'd done this often enough before Katherine and after well, they'd taken advantage of every chance moment alone they could. So it wasn't like this was some strange new ritual passed down by an alien species upon First Contact. No. This was something old as life itself, an unspoken, passionate, personal dance.
In his weakness, David had thought that this was something that wasn't special at all but with Jessica it was more than that.
In the moment, David realized he wasn't even wearing a condom, but the shepherd didn't mind one bit. If they had another pup, so be it. He would always take care of his pups. He'd be exactly the person he promised Jessica he would be. Holding her to her desk, David began a slow pace.
Jessica ran her hands under his stomach and through his fur, over scars and the markings of his fur. David watched her face with interest. She was examining him, really watching him and seeing the person she was with. The stare was so intense and serious but also fascinated.
"Penny for your thoughts." David grunted, flexing that singular muscle lodged in his wife. He felt a wave of pleasure at the little shiver she rewarded him with. The sexy collie clutched at his fur and tried to pull him against her when he stopped.
"I'm just admiring you. Just keep going, okay? I love you," Jessica smiled. Even when David's muzzle covered hers in a kiss, he could tell she smiled. He held her face, letting her feel him, her body warm and inviting when he pulled back. Even her body seemed to want him near her as if her words weren't enough. Jessica's tongue ran over the front of his teeth until she kissed at his neck.
The stench of this moment would haunt the office for the next few days. The scent of a rutted bitch and a horny male, it wasn't fair to the cleaners, but David would make sure the mess was minimal.
His paws were on her hips now, guiding her body to his. He wanted to watch her swallow up his cock with her sodden snatch forever. It was so perfect to think that this was all his. She_was _his. But, in the same respect...He was hers. That ownership of old that bound the two of them together wasn't a way for him to control her. It was a promise to each other and if she wanted something, he would give it, gladly; the shepherd would be there for his wife. He hated salads and hated jogging and how he was sore and aching every fucking day for the past three months but if it was for Jessica--for his wife--it was all worth it.
And, he had to admit; being able to pick her up and hold her off the ground for a rutting made him full damn near invincible.
He knew that it was an idea some people his age hated. He could hear their arguments and complaints over how marriage was sexist and even monogamy was wrong but David felt his wife squeezing him when he pulled out, knowing how much he loved it, he smelled the scent of her fur left on his pillow. God, why would he ever choose to leave her?
David felt his hand on hers, clutching her hand, rings touching as he pushed in so deep that it came _just_shy of her cervix.
"I'd marry you again in a heartbeat," David whispered in his bride's neck.
"Don't get sappy on me," Jessica whined. "I'm too fucking close for that!" she giggled and kissed him.
Not one to disappoint, David's hand went under her clit, rubbing around it slowly. Immediately he felt her body tense up around his. She whimpered, rocking her body back and forth, and even her hackles rose to attention. Good. Jessica still reacted that much to his touch. He loved it. David loved seeing her get worked up and feeling her breath on his neck.
"I want to cum, babe. Please let me cum..."
David kept going, his fingers rubbing circles around her clit, teasing her with his touch the harder his bucks into her got. She was putty in his grasp and that was something that David loved. She groaned, clenching his fur and kissing his neck as her body rocked and shook hard, her whole form quaking with release when she finally grabbed his wrist.
"Mmm. Please... Don't cum in me. We can't be tied here..." she grinned at David, eyes still wide in the bliss of her orgasm. It was so tempting to tie her anyway, damn what she said but it'd be a problem if he did.
David pulled out, his cock slurping and stinging in the cold of the sudden freedom. But Jessica was quick to slide off the desk and onto the ground. Her hand reached up, grabbing his cock and stroking it carefully. The collie's eyes met David's and she took the tip into her mouth, working it down slowly.
Her eyes didn't linger for a moment though. Even when she reached his base.
Even when her tongue danced over his balls, the collie kept staring at her husband, swallowing around the base until David's shaft was twitching in her mouth.
She pulled back to the head and David's cock erupted. His cum flooded her mouth and David waited for the groans and complaints that so usually came when he came in her mouth, but Jessica kept her breathing steady, swallowing his cum while her paws that ran over his fur, feeling every bit of the man that she loved.
She let the last little bit pool on her tongue and opened her mouth to show David before swallowing it and showing him again.
"Tada!" she giggled.
David tugged on her elbow and the moment she was on her feet enough, he kissed her, growling a little at the eroticism of the show she'd just put on for him.
"Goddamn, you're amazing," David whispered a few minutes later when the kiss faded away.
"Damn straight, I am!" Jessica giggled, putting her husband away and zipping up. "You better wine and dine me properly tonight for that performance!" She licked her lips a few times and giggled. "And for swallowing!"
David smiled, carefully making sure that his wife looked s impeccable as she deserved to. He shook his head.
"Can't believe you went commando, Jess."
"I didn't. My panties are in my desk. That was all for you, babe. Plus it worked me up."
Jessica went over to her desk, bending over and giving David enough of a view of her ass for him to go over to her. He took her panties from her, putting them over her legs and sliding them up, kissing the soft fur of her legs up to her used pussy. With that smooth dog tongue, David ran over her juices a couple times before stopping, moving to his feet.
"Happy anniversary," David said, kissing the nape of her neck.
"Mmm. Thanks, David."
The shepherd chuckled, pulling his wife around and kissing her nose.
"You can thank me after dinner. I want this night to be special."
Grabbing her bag, she smiled and took her husband's hand.
"Lead the way."
***
Tony gave little in the way of acknowledgement for what had just happened but David knew that he knew. Oh well. As far as David was concerned, he was allowed to fuck his wife on his anniversary. And Alvaro had told David that they fucked in his house while housesitting...
David figured it was about even.
Jessica had carpooled with Tony to work, leaving David to drive the two of them to the restaurant. He didn't mind though. Jessica queued up the band he took her to on their first date and they belted along with the lyrics. David stopped after a couple verses, just listening to his wife. His tail gave a slow wag and he squeezed her hand once.
His wife didn't even look at him, just kept singing. She was lost in the moment, in the memories, David would guess. She was thinking of their date, of their time as horny college students, drunk on life and lust and--
"You just missed the turn," Jessica giggled.
Sure enough, the shepherd had just passed Dunlap and was making his way farther North than he needed to.
"Shit. Sorry. I got a little..." he trailed off, checking behind him before getting into the turn lane on the left, waiting for traffic to clear.
"Thinking about our first date?"
"Yeah," David said. "I mean, you're playing Vinyl Theater. Am I supposed to ignore that fact?"
"No," Jessica giggled. "I wanted you to think about it. Three years dating, seven years married. I don't want you to think of anything else."
David turned the car down Mission Lane, going down 5thStreet towards the restaurant again. "I know. I know. I just want to enjoy this night, I guess."
Pulling up to park, David killed the engine and Jessica stopped him before he got out of the car. "You're a great husband and father. Just focus on that, okay, babe?"
That was a kindness that David didn't deserve but all the same he kissed right between her eyes.
"Shut up and let me seduce you, dammit."
Jessica snorted at her husband and gestured for him. "Seduce away, by all means!"
He got out of the car and walked around to help her out of the car. His wife was stunning. She always was, but the trim suit she wore was incredible and the skirt showed no signs of their impropriety from before but visions of further impropriety flashed into the shepherd's head.
"You're absolutely stunning, Mrs. Mendez."
"Damn straight I am!" Jessica beamed, her tail wagging when David took her hand and led them inside.
North Mountain Brewing was the couple's favorite little gastropub. They made their own beer on site and had the food to match. Though Jessica was wary the first time they want, the first time she'd had their fries, the collie was sold. Everything else they made was fantastic as well as the two had been insistent to try everything on the menu in the following visits.
It did feel a little strange to be so dressed up at a place as informal as this, but the thought didn't last long. The server led them to a wide table and Jessica sat next to her husband, leaning into his chest.
"Work was so boring today. I'm still waiting on the receipts for three people's trips so I can properly reimburse them for expenses but James is dragging his feet again. Like always!"
David shook his head.
"The lion's still convinced he'll be the next great screenwriter. What do you expect?"
"I expect some semblance of timeliness instead of saying he'll get to something and never doing it."
Jessica rubbed her temple slowly, sighing at the kiss David applied.
"He's a moron, don't worry about it."
"Yeah. Anyway, how bout you? How was work?"
David straightened a bit, the waitress showing up. The couple ordered their drinks before resuming their near-cuddle.
"It wasn't anything special. Had to go into the office in the morning and make sure the servers were being properly vented. For a bunch of doctor's, you'd think they might understand that the temperature in the server room can't be touched if they want their website to stay up and running."
"They're eggheads!" Jessica giggled. "What's the term called? Functional Fixedness?"
David shook his head. "No, that's only seeing an object having one use. This is just... I don't know. Situational blindness. Or something."
"I should just yell at them that their research will be lost if they fuck with my servers."
"Your servers?" Jessica snickered.
"Damn straight my servers. They don't pay me enough to have another person running the site so I'm pretty damn protective of it."
She smiled and sat up when the drinks came.
Despite being their anniversary, the two still just ordered a pizza--spicy sauce naturally--and neither of them seemed to give the tiniest bit of a care that their 10th anniversary as a couple--and 7 as man and wife--was spent eating beer and pizza. It seemed natural. Their lives melded together and that was what mattered.
"This is such a cheat meal," David smirked at his wife.
Jessica paused, looking at the pizza between her teeth, shrugged and finished the bite. "I'm allowed a cheat meal, you know. Besides, my ass is looking great, thank you very much!"
David rolled his eyes, pinching the top of her ass as best he could. She bit her lip to stop herself from squeaking.
"Your ass has always looked great, you idiot."
"Is that why you're still trying to try anal with me after ten years?" Jessica whispered in his ear.
It was all that David could do not to choke on his drink. He set the glass down, coughing hard and drawing a few looks from the other patrons.
Jessica had turned, away, eating another piece of pizza, wiggling a bit in her chair as she enjoyed the surprise on David's face.
David leaned and whispered in her ear.
"Tell you what, babe. If you let me have your ass, I'll let you have mine."
Now was Jessica's turn to sputter in surprise though she managed to do it with a touch more class than David did.
"Oh, I'll hold you to that, David. Don't think I won't."
David shrugged and wrapped an arm around his wife, squeezing her tight against his body.
"I look forward to it and every other desire floating around in that dirty little mind of yours, my dear."
David held onto his wife as she pressed her body against his. He held her close, that large paw running down her back and then back up. The two of them stayed entwined, neither one of them wanting to leave that moment. Full of food, beer and flirtatious comments... If this is what David's life with Jessica was like, he could live with that. It was a perfect little mix of love and lust and friendship and, near as he could tell, that was what real love was like. It was messy and difficult and so stupid sometimes but if it meant that David would never have Jessica or Katherine in his life, well, as far as David could figure what was the point?
