#25 of Growvember Series

The moment of truth finally comes as the biggest macros of the group go to take down the rogue macro leader. But can they do it in time?

Growvember

November 25th

The next morning, everything was different for me and Chris. Yeah, we had basically broken a mile in height, but to really be in that moment was surreal. Long ago I wasn't able to see cars and even the basic house anymore. Homes were mere dots, skyscrapers now looked like game pieces. Roads have long ago become just mere lines for me to follow, and even then they were becoming hard to see.

The land itself was a completely different experiences. I didn't see trees, crops, or anything like that anymore. I was just starting to see colors and how they were laid out. Kinda weird really, but fascinating see where a corn field started and stopped, only to go either to a grassy field or most likely another crop. And as I thought about that, at this rate of growth, cities would be just gray splotches to me. Then there were my fellow giants.

Mary had finally left my field of view as well as the other macros that were originally at this city. Jeff was quickly approaching the same fate with me as well, no more than a tiny figurine to me now. Shawn had dropped to below my knees, now action figure sized. And Nicolas? He was staring at my stomach.

My only anchor now was Chris, now the third tallest fur in the world. Either one of us was going to stop growing, or we would continue to grow together forever. The thought actually caused my heart to thump a bit harder in my chest.

All of that was going to have to wait though as Shawn explained the plan to us, and gave us some information on our target.

"Wait, you're kidding right? He's ex-military?" Chris and I both stared dumbfounded at the roo sitting on Nicolas's shoulder.

"Yeah. Markus Grayson. Dishonorable discharge. After he was kicked out, joined a fringe militia called the furs of truth. Sadly, no one took into account people in this militia growing and causing furs to join his cause. He knew exactly where to hit to cripple communications across the landscape." Chris rubbed his forehead, the news was pretty troubling to himself.

"So then, what's the plan?" Chris asked.

"You three are going to take him down." I had never seen Shawn's face look so stern before. "This guy is trained to kill. One on one you wouldn't stand a chance. Despite Nicolas having stopped growing, his strength would still be unmatched in a fight. Also, you need to find him today. We cant risk anyone more of us not growing and him continuing."

We all nodded.

"Got it. We'll find and capture him and keep him under guard till a cure is found." I nodded.

"No. There is no capturing here. He isn't meant to come out of this fight alive." The roo said grimly. I clenched my fists. I didn't like killing. The skunk and tiger were just a fluke, Kevin nearly died by Chris's hands.

"I know. But this guy is insane, and is too great a risk to let live. He could kill everyone in the world at the rate you are all growing. He has to be stopped." Chris sighed. All three of us looked at each other, knowing he was right, and nodded.

"Okay Shawn. We'll do it." I sighed.

"Good. Here's where he was last sighted."

We traveled in silence at first, thinking bout what we had to do. Even when Hanolver fell, none of us had killed. My own kills were a last resort and accident, and that's how I was rationalizing it. Any of the other macros they were leaving alone for now, knowing we could subdue them with our sizes. This guy would never stop, and had to be put down.

"We should think of a plan." Nicolas finally spoke up.

"Yeah, I figured Chris and I would rush him, and you try to get behind and grab him around the neck." I suggested.

"Don't think that should be me. I can't jump that high with this much bulk. And I'm a lot slower. If anything, I should be charging forward, and you two trying to grab him. I can take a hit." Nicolas recommended. Both of us looked at Chris for any input.

"I'll go with whatever you guys suggest. I'm not good at thinking of a plan." He rubbed the back of his head.

"Okay, well, I agree you can take a hit Nicolas. But maybe we don't have to start fighting right away. Maybe we can trick him into thinking we are on his side and catch him off guard."

"Cept he knows we fought against him when he attacked Hanolver. I don't think he'll believe we switched that easily. Plus, you said some of the smaller macros escaped when you fought that skunk. They could've warned him." Chris explained.

"Damn." I bit my pointer finger, trying to think. Nothing was big enough anymore to use as a weapon. It was purely hand to hand. Maybe we were over thinking it. It was still three to one, this wasn't like the movies where one guy could literally be a one man army.

"No tricks, no sneak attacks. We just rush him. Whoever he hits, try to grab on and hold on to that limb, don't let go. The other two can pile on and we try to subdue him. Then we choke or try to break his neck, crack his skull, whatever." I finally figured out. The other two nodded.

"Okay, that makes sense. Now we just have to find the bastard." Chris sighed, looking around. It never really occurred to me by now to look at my feet to watch where we were going, though at the same time, it didn't matter. Its not like we would really be able to avoid everyone and everything. That just meant I probably crushed innocent furs under my paws.

The thought started to sicken me, but faded. It was just how it was now. There was nothing I could do. Did I ever concern myself at my normal size about accidentally stepping on bugs or watching me step? No, I didn't. It was the same thing now.

Holy shit. Did I just compare normal furs to insects? Had I really grown that disconnected with the rest of the world. The others didn't seem to be thinking the same as me, or were doing a real good job hiding it. I started to feel sick again. We really were like them.

No, stop. There's no other choice. Nothing can be done. Its not your fault. You aren't like them and doing it on purpose. You at least know and acknowledge that what is happening is wrong. They believe they are in the right. Your morals are completely different.

I nodded to myself. Yeah, that was the difference between us. We understood what was happening to us was an unfortunate event that we were just victims to. Markus wanted to use it to abuse its power and kill at his leisure. He had to be stopped.

Night quickly began to fall, and we were getting worried. At our sizes, we should've been able to see him at some point. The land was in total cause. Large footprints were scattered about, stomped deeply into the land. Hills were torn asunder, and any cities we ran into were utterly decimated.

"You don't think he circled around and went after the city, do you?" Chris whispered.

"No, we would've seen him. It just means he has been expecting us to come for him eventually, hence tracks going everywhere." I concluded.

"Its getting late, we have to find him soon. You could start growing, or not, at any minute." Nicolas reminded us.

That's when it hit me. I never did experience the growth first hand, just woke up after it occurred. I wondered if Nicolas ever experienced it himself, or anyone for that matter.

The night wore on, the full moon starting to reach its peak, almost midnight. And finally, there he was. A white figure in this blackness, raising his foot high and slamming it down into the ground into another city, sending up a cloud of dirt. He turned and smirked, those two different colored eyes seeming to gleam in the moonlight.

"So, they finally sent someone to come after me. Good..." He licked his fangs, a sick smile on his face. "These cities were starting to get boring. I wanted to feel something crunch in my hands!"

He was truly too far gone now. His eyes were completely deranged. His fur had dark patches of blood at his hands and paws, mostly likely from crushing smaller macros. He had to be stopped.

"Okay guys, like we planned." I braced my feet into the ground, ready to charge. But before I could, my body started to feel strange. Oddly hot. It started from my chest, and began to spread throughout the rest of me. And once it did, I could visibly see the world starting to fall away from me.

We were growing.
