The showdown commences as the growth kicks off. This puts the trio at a disadvantage at the well trained titan. No one is going to come out unscathed, but can they still succeed?
Growvember
November 26th
My body didn't feel like it wanted to move as I watched the ground start to drift away from me slowly at first, but starting to pick up speed. I looked forward to see Markus was too.
"Shit! We have to stop him now!" I shouted to the other two, looking to my left, only to see Chris was starting to drop lower and lower compared to me.
"Shit..."
We all charged forward, the wolf had his eyes focused on the sky, seeming loss in the bliss of the growth, starting to laugh.
"Yes! Bigger! BIGGER! Make me a GOD compared to these insects!" He roared up, his head snapping forward, seeing us sprinting straight for him. He bared his fangs, letting out a slobbering snarl as he charged as well. I tried to predict who he was going to go for first, and where he would strike, but it was completely unknown.
Once close enough, I threw a punch, trying to hit him square in the face. It was too telegraphed though as he ducked, ramming his elbow into my sternum. I gasped and stepped backwards, clutching my chest in pain, completely forgetting to try and grab the arm. Chris leaped forward, trying to grab his other arm and pull him down, but the wolf easily started to pull back, showing off his thick muscles.
"Pathetic!" He roared, bringing back his free fist. Nicolas quickly tried to jump up and grab on to it, to hold it back, but the size difference was starting to quickly become apparently as the growth continued. Even to me he was starting to look more and more like the size of a child as Markus ignore him, still bringing his fist forward and nailing Chris straight on the snout, causing him to cry out in agony and grab his nose, blood pouring out.
"Chris!" I charged forward just as he turned his attention to Nicolas, spearing him in the stomach. Nicolas fell off as we went to the ground, causing fissures to split the earth. I quickly got on top and start to wail on him with both fists, punching his head side to side as the ground continued to dwindle before us. Despite that, he quickly reached up, grabbing my head and pulling me down, headbutting me.
My vision went blurry as a loud ringing went throughout my head. I couldn't defend myself as he pushed me off, but Chris was ready, pouncing and trying to dig his claws into the wolf's neck, clutching as hard as he could. Nicolas was up and quickly grabbed the arm, trying to hold it down in some arm lock, despite it still growing.
"Get off of me you weaklings!" The wolf choked out, grabbing Chris by his throat with his free hand and starting to squeeze.
The wolf must've already been in peak condition before the enhancements from the growth. Despite not getting as big as Nicolas, those muscles were hard as a rock and densely compact. He made not look as muscled as Nicolas, but he must've been as strong, if not stronger. I felt that when I just slammed into his abs.
Chris held on as long as he could, but the grip must've been too much for him as he quickly let go, starting to claw at the hand, trying to get it off. I saw as his eyes were starting to roll back in his head, tears streaming down his face as he gasped for breath, that hand only encircling his throat more and more as the wolf continued to grow.
I got up to my feet, trying to push the pain aside as I knew I had to rely on the one trick that got me out of all my fights up to this point. I ran forward, and brought my foot back, bringing it forward as hard and fast as I could straight into his balls.
Markus's howl must've went up ten octaves as he immediately released Chris, tossing him to the side with a snarl as he threw Nicolas off next, trying to roll out of the way.
"Aim for any soft parts! Play dirty if you have to!" I groaned, feeling dizzy as I tried to follow up, jumping on his bank and wrapping my arms around his neck. But before I could get a good grip, he quickly grabbing one of my arms, trying to pull it back.
"I'm going to rip out your throat you maggot!" He gasped, gripping harder. It felt like my bones were about to snap under that vice. Chris came running up from behind, going for his balls once more, but Chris probably felt him coming, his leg kicking out and striking the puma right in the ribs, he flew back, blood vomiting from his mouth as he landed hard on the ground, rolling.
"Chris!" I screamed in horror, trying to think what else I could do as Nicolas hobbled forward, striking the wolf in the gut as hard and fast as he could as I kept him on all fours. It didn't seem effective at first, but Markus gave up trying to hold back my arm and let go, whipping his fist back and striking the bear in the side as hard as he could. Nicolas seemed to bend like a U as the white furred forearm pinned his arm to the side of his body, a sickening crack could be heard as he went rolling as well.
I looked on in horror, my mind racing. With my arms free, I clutched my right arm around his throat, holding and tightening the grip with my left. Then, with all that I could, I bit into his ear, feeling my sharp buck teeth easily pierce through, blood starting to pour out. He howled once more, starting to stand and take me with him. If I wasn't fighting for my life, I would've been amazed at the display of strength.
He swung me back and forth, trying to pull my arms off as he gasped out for breath, but I held on like my life depended on it, because it did. Seeing it wasn't working, He jumped backwards, slamming me into the ground. I gasped out for breath, feeling myself sinking into the earth as it tried to take our combined weight, but held on regardless. He began to slam his elbows into my sides, spouting curses as he thrashed to get free. All I could do was try to arch back even more, doing whatever I could to close that windpipe. My muscles felt like they were on fire as I squeezed harder than any other time in my life. It finally seemed to be working as his blows were getting weaker, less frequent.
"I..can't..." His last words as his arms fell to his side. I still didn't let go. Keeping the same pressure as long as I could, even when I felt my own arm was about to break off.
How long I did I couldn't tell, but once I reached my limit, I released, panting in disbelief. That had to be it, right? It was over. No way anyone could hold their breath that long. Not even a soldier.
I groaned and pushed him off, rolling over onto my stomach as I looked up, seeing Chris trying to stand and move towards me. The his front covered in blood from earlier.
"Oh god, Chris!" I rushed forward, falling to my knees as I grabbed him before he fell over, holding him tight. I started to cry into his shoulder, never before feeling so scared for myself or someone else in my life.
"Careful, definitely a few broken ribs." He groaned, patting my back. I did so, not wanting to cause further damage. I reluctantly released, still trying to hold him up. Its then I noticed that I was no longer growing finally, and saw that even being on my knees, I was looking Chris face to face, with him standing straight up. I had basically doubled in height. The growth was speeding up once again.
"Nicolas!" I gasped, looking over towards the bear. He was laying motionless on the ground. I sat Chris down and ran over, the bear was barely knee high to me now as I carefully rolled him over, his face contorted in pain.
"Nicolas, speak to me!" I tapped the side of his muzzle carefully with two fingers. His eye cracked opened as he looked up, gripping the arm Markus had hit.
"I take it its over?" He winced, coughing up some blood.
"Yes, I choked him out. How bout you? Are you going to make it?" I had feared I was going to land on him when I was slammed back into the ground, but the blow from Markus must've been strong enough to push him far enough away. He nodded up.
"My arm is completely broken though, maybe a rib or two." He winced, gasping for breath.
"Don't breath. Neither of you. Just rest and let the regeneration take place." I sat back, feeling light headed, most likely having a concussion from the headbutt. I was forced to sit back on my butt, then fell flat on my back, staring up at the night sky. No clouds blocked the view of the stars, but they kept spinning for me, then everything went black.
"No, they aren't dead, but in pretty rough shape. Report that to them."
I faint voice spoke somewhere.
"Wait, I think he is starting to wake up! Bryant! Bryant! Can you hear me?" A moan escaped my lips as I rolled my head to the side, opening my eyes, barely making out a blurred figure. Just the morning light caused me take a sharp breath and close them immediately, groaning once more.
"Bryant, say something! How bad is it? Is he dead or just unconscious?"
"Dead..." I muttered, still not wanting to move.
"Dead. Tell them he's dead." The voice said again. If it was someone doing the telephone system, it had to have been Shawn talking to me. But why did he sound so far away? Had the concussion affected my hearing somehow?
I slowly opened my eyes once again, trying to get use to the small amount of light at first.
"The others are still out. Nicolas is breathing really heavy. Do you know the extent of their injuries?" The brown blur before me said. I blinked my eyes and brought a hand up to rub them, trying to focus. That's when I saw just how small he was to me now. Barely bigger than one of my fingers. That explained sounding so far away.
"Both have broken ribs, Nicolas's arm is broken. I think I have a concussion and maybe a bruised rib." The pain was starting to finally get to me from where I took the elbow hit, but definitely not broken at least.
"Broken ribs, for the other two, Nicolas has a broken arm and Bryant a concussion." He repeated to someone. My brain was still searing in pain as I thought who. Probably Jeff and maybe Mary. I wanted to say more, to tell them we were okay. But everything was going hazy again, and I couldn't stay awake.
The next time I woke, it was late in the afternoon. Peeking open my eyes, I could faintly see lights down below, some trained on me. Shawn was sitting down, but someone must've pointed that I was awake and he got up.
"How are you feeling?"
"Like shit" I groaned, not wanting to move, for fear I may crush someone.
"That's what the others said." He nodded, looking towards where both Chris and Nicolas were laying near each other. "Seems at least any internal injuries have already healed, but bones are going to be a bit it looks like."
"Shawn, where can I move so I don't crush anyone?" I asked.
"Sitting straight up is fine. The military personnel that came along are near me and Jeff. So just stay away from here and you'll be fine."
I nodded and stood, starting to take in my surroundings at my new height. This growth spurt was huge, not like the others. If I was a mile tall before, I was probably nearing two now. That wasn't all. Chris had stopped growing as well, which meant I was now the largest macro in the world.
No, this wasn't a time for that. I didn't want to think about it. All I wanted to do was hold Chris one more time because somehow, I knew, this was going to be the last time I got to.
