Whaaaaaat? A straight story by me?! o_O

Hello everyone.

Yep, I can't quite believe it by myself, but since I am currently trying out a few new things I also decided to write

a straight story for once.

Of course - Christmas themed.

It's probably not the longest story I've ever written - in the end it's a whole lot different from what I am used to

so please be gentle with your critism <3

This one is also a bit more emotional - at least I tried to make it a bit more emotional ^^

As soon as the first snow starts falling from the sky, people’s mood changes dramatically.

For some of us it announces a time of peace as we sit at the window, watching as thousands of flakes cover the ground in a white, soft layer. For other’s it’s a pretty stressful time. Students often have to endure a period of countless tests and exams, and while they are trying to keep up with that, adults are struggling with buying presents so they can gift their relatives on Christmas. But it’s not always the snow or the time of the year itself that makes us feel uncomfortable. Sometimes it’s just a certain circumstance that happens to have its peak just when the first snow starts to fall.

After they’d become a couple it was obvious that they’d have to tell their parents about it. Aaron was the first one to introduce them to Sophia, and both of them were astonished and happy at the same time. But unfortunately, they didn’t. Her parents, a pair of strict Christs, were shocked by the fact that their innocent daughter had fallen for such a monster – like they called him.

“Oh my… god…” her mother gasped as Sophia told them about their relationship.

“I want him to get out of our house immediately!” her husband almost screamed.

Aaron had to leave the house – otherwise this would’ve ended up in a pretty uncomfortable experience. His girlfriend wanted to run after him, but her parents forbid her to.

“We don’t want you to meet this… thing again…” she got told by her disappointed parents. “It’s against any rule of nature… a relationship between humans and… them…” they said.

Sophia locked herself into her room, immediately texting her loved one. She had warned the drake that something like this could happen and luckily, he wasn’t mad at her.

It’s not your fault that they acted like this… we’ll just have to meet somewhere else I assume. And better not get caught. He wrote.

For months they kept this whole instance hidden from them, often spending time in public places or at the reptile’s own home – until today.

It was the first of December, a seemingly peaceful Friday. The whole city was covered by snow already and all the lakes and rivers had turned into ice.

Sophia was currently walking through a park in the middle of the city, accompanied by Aaron right next to her. While they quietly walked along the white paths the place offered them the girl was overrun by thought. Eventually, she sighed.

“Something wrong love?” the reptile asked in a concerned voice. Gently, he placed one of his paws on his girlfriend’s shoulders, starting to caress her.

The human’s expression turned into one of anger. “Pffffff…. and if they’re going to disinherit me I wouldn’t care. It’s my decision who I love not theirs.” She took a deep breath before continuing her speech. “Sometimes I feel like a prisoner… imprisoned for doing what I want… why can’t they just be like your parents? Why can’t they just let me live my life the way I want to?” she asked in a sad voice.

Aaron wrapped his arms around the female’s body, hugging her tightly.

“I know, it’s hard. But let’s not think about it for now and enjoy the time they’re not in town, okay?”

“Okay…”

Sophia’s parents were currently out of town – buying Christmas gifts and visiting a couple of friends.

This was one of the few opportunities where the purple reptile didn’t have to stay out of the girl’s house. Tonight, they’d spend their time together at her home.

As they walked around it slowly got darker. Lanterns and lights were now illuminating the streets, causing the snow around them to sparkle like the stars above their heads.

Soon the drake got hold of his girlfriend’s hand, their palms connected like a zipper. The human smiled.

“Did those lights wake up your romantic side?” she teased.

“Maybe… I thought it would feel better this way.” He answered.

“I can’t blame you for that…”

The snow crunched beneath their feet as they continued their stroll. Wind blew into their faces, causing Sophia to hide herself within her scarf.

“It’s getting pretty cold…” she stated, shivering slightly. Her boyfriend tightened the grip around her hand a bit.

“Would you like to go home?” he asked in a friendly tone.

Nodding Sophia agreed. “Let’s cuddle in my bed a bit once we’re inside…”

“I would love to…”

Slowly they made their way out of the park, into the direction of the human’s house. It felt somehow awkward to the girl, bringing Aaron home with her. Normally this would result in a lot of yelling, followed by a speech of how disappointed her parents are of her.

But they weren’t at home at the moment, and surely wouldn’t be within the next 24 hours.

While they walked through the city they came across several other people. Children that were coming back from a day of playing in the snow, as well as adults, also taking a walk within the snowed town.

Eventually they arrived at the point of destination, finally warming up their bodies in the heated house. Of course, those would get removed soon too, but not for now…

The night was peaceful, almost too peaceful. To only thing to be heard was the calming sound of wind, blowing snow across the land. It was probably one of the most romantic sights in the world, but every time everything seems to be just perfect something has to ruin it.

In this case it was the sound of a car, the sound of someone arriving in the morning, far too early than they should have. Neither Aaron nor Sophia took notice of the growling engine, not even of the house’s door opening. But as gate to her own room opened their wake-up was imminent.

“FOR THE SAKE OF GOD WHAT IS THAT THING DOING IN OUR HOUSE?!?” a female voiced yelled in anger and disgust. Immediately the couple awoke from their slumber, looking at the entrance to their sleeping quarters. As the girl realized that her parents had come home early it was already too late. “Mom… please…”

But the female adult was far too furious to be talked to normal. “Listen up MONSTER…” she spat with mockery to her voice. “…my advice for you is to get out of here as fast as you can. Take your clothes and LEAVE!” she was almost trembling as she said those words. “And you better be fast… I wouldn’t be surprised if my husband would try to break off your horns for showing up in this house again.” She added, almost hissing.

“Aaron… I… I am sorry…” the girl whispered.

Without saying anything the red drake got up from the bed, grabbed his clothes and left the room. He wouldn’t put them on for now. Sure, it was cold outside, but since he was a dragon he was also a bit more resistant to the cool winter air.

After the reptile had went out of the room Sophia’s mother shut the door close behind him, then turned her attention to her daughter. “What were you thinking to meet with that creature again?!” she yelled, as suddenly a deep realization hit her. “You… you met with him all the time… didn’t you?”

The teenager looked at the ground, ashamed. Not because she hadn’t followed her parent’s order, but because she was too stupid to notice that they had come home early. “I ASKED YOU SOMETHING!” the woman cried, her face being red out of anger. And this time her offspring yelled back. “I love him! Don’t you understand that?!” she screamed in a sad tone.

Her mother’s face got even more red. “YOU CAN’T LOVE SOMETHING LIKE THAT!”

Tears began to run down Sophia’s face as she listened to her mother’s speech. She would’ve liked to ignore it, but she couldn’t. “I FORBID YOU TO SEE HIM EVER AGAIN! FOR NOW, YOU WON’T BE ALLOWED TO LEAVE THE HOUSE. AND IF YOU DARE TO DO ANYWAYS… THERE WILL BE SERIOUS CONSEQUENZES… UNDERSTOOD?!”

The crying female nodded, hoping that the adult would just leave her alone eventually. And to her relief she did indeed. Opening the door, she left the room, slamming it shut behind her with so much force that the whole room vibrated.

Instead the answering machine could be heard, telling her to leave a message for him.

The teenager was even more despaired now. What if he didn’t want to talk to her anymore at all? What if he realized that this relationship brought nothing than trouble?

Instinctively she wrote a text note and sent it to him, hoping that he would soon see it and respond.

For the whole day she sat there, waiting for an answer – though none came. She didn’t want to leave her room, she didn’t want to see her parents. She was sad and furious at the same time, more than ever before. Soon the light outside faded and darkness cloaked her. And still – she sat there waiting for the dragon to text or call her.

She didn’t cry just once. Her heart was broken. Was this really the end of her relationship?

After hours of waiting more or less patiently the girl looked at the clock on the wall. 11:32

It was almost midnight. Surely her parents would already be asleep, and that was when a strange thought came across her.
