Almost like a beacon of life, the King's Oasis was a glimmering pool set out in the depths of a harsh, unforgiving desert. Nestled close to a mountain, the spring fed spot was actually huge and supported the growth of many trees and a small ecosystem of desert wildlife. The king's armies would often visit the oasis while performing drills, and it was said that no matter how much they drank and bathed in the refreshing water, the pool would never drain or foul.
The oasis was enchanted, having vitality enhancing and rejuvenating properties. Though if the water were bottled and taken elsewhere it would lose its mystical potential. It was this reason that luxuries needed to be taken at the oasis, no matter what they were.
At a shallow section of the pool a person began to gently wade into the crystal clear water. In the unobstructed afternoon light, the surface shimmered like diamonds and danced light over her naked body. Astrid was a dragoness of some renown. Despite her young age she had mastered four schools of magic and was on par with some of the great sorcerers that were four times her elder. It mattered little to her, most notably because she was a wanted criminal. Showing off magical prowess meant little when there was such a high bounty on your head that almost everyone was after.
It was kind of ironic, the King's Oasis was actually very popular, but with her hiding in plain sight, none of the others that were around paid her much mind. Though those that did gaze at her were more allured by her gorgeous form. She had a disciplined body with wide hips, a shapely backside and a somewhat thick midsection. Her bust was quite large, her pink nipples protruding some distance from the supple curve of each breast.
Her scales were a shimmering emerald color that covered her entire form, save for her belly and her inner thighs, which were a dull yellow. Though she encompassed the physique of a definitive woman, the sight between her legs would tell a different story, as a hefty sheath occupied the front of her pelvis. That wasn't to say that she didn't have a pussy, it merely stayed back behind her heavy ballsack. Most were too shy to gaze of her genitals and breasts so she was afforded some privacy, but it wasn't like she minded the extra attention.
She had to remind herself that she was still on the run, and that any one of these other people could recognize her and attempt to capture her for the reward, as unlikely as it would be. Still, it would be awfully inconvenient to cut her oasis visit short. Unlike her scaly relatives that resided in the mountains of the neighboring country, she didn't have any wings, as much as she wished that she did. Flying away from an issue would have made life so much easier.
Astrid settled on her backside and wrapped her tail around her legs. The cool water gently nudged at her breasts, her tits peaking half way above the surface as she settled against the pool's edge. Her eyes slowly drifted shut and she began to concentrate on her breathing, but it was right at that point that there came a familiar disturbance a short distance away.
The air began to waver, as if distorted by heat, but it grew rapidly more turbulent in a surface that was distinctly circular in shape. The wobbling air became so bad that it eventually tore, ripping outward from the center. The new hole began to swirl and grow larger, not stopping until it filled an oval shape that was seven feet high and four feet wide.
It was a simple doorway spell, though to get it to lead to a specific spot was difficult to accomplish. From the portal stepped a woman that was just as unique as Astrid herself. Her body held the scales of a snake, a boa to be more specific. Brown and dark green diamonds covered her sides and back, traveling down her very long tail. Her build was slimmer compared to Astrid, and her breasts were quite a bit smaller, the same going for her hips and backside.
Echo was her name, and though she wasn't as talented as Astrid when it came to slinging spells, she was well respected in her own circles. She wore a ceremonial robe, and beneath it was a pair of slacks and a white shirt that was cinched at the waist. A couple different pendants hung from around her neck, denoting her job, class, and rank at the college that she taught. In her right hand was a gnarled staff made from the twisted branch of a cursed tree, and on its end was a shining purple gem that had wood fibers wrapped around its clean-cut surface to keep it in place.
It didn't take long for Echo to locate Astrid, and the dragoness didn't even bother to move or acknowledge her, despite the fact that she did know she was there. And Echo knew that she knew. The snake scowled and stomped over to the water's edge, mere feet away from her friend. "Hey!" she snapped and then perked her attention to the many other people that were around, though luckily they weren't very far away. "What the hell are you doing here?"
"I'm having a soak, what does it look like?" Astrid grumbled and folded her hands into her lap. Echo blinked in disbelief at her friend's nonchalant behavior, and she had to have another look around as if she had to confirm with herself that she was indeed at the King's Oasis where lots of people could see her.
"You're having a soak out in public," she grumbled through grit teeth, "While a sizable bounty is on your head? Cutthroats the world over are keeping their eyes out for a green dragoness that has an uncanny knack for conjuring fire faster than most pyro-mages," she continued at a low hiss.
