Chapter 3

It had been three weeks since Kiyo had let Sakura live with him in the cabin. Sakura was always surprised at how well she and Kiyo got along and even sometimes forgot that he was a human. Sometimes they did argue mostly about who would cook that night Kiyo would always insist until she finally relented at let him cook. On their last night in the cabin Sakura was in her room holding her sunglasses in her paw and was staring at them day dreaming when she heard a loud snap outside. She started to head for the door and saw Kiyo doing the same thing. "You heard it too?" he asked. Sakura nodded and started sniffing the air. As they started walking towards the woods, they found a tree with long claw marks carved into the wood. "Do you think it was a bear?" Kiyo asked.

No bear has claws this long and sharp Sakura said. Then she noticed something on the ground so she picked it up. Kiyo gave her his flashlight so she could get a better look at it. When she did, her eyes grew wide with fear. Kiyo saw the look on her face and was about to ask what it was when they heard loud roar. They ran back to the cabin and barricaded the door. "What was that?" he asked trying to catch his breath. "That was a reptoid and by the sound of that roar it just caught its dinner." Sakura said panting from exhaustion. Kiyo had never seen Sakura so scared before and started to get nervous himself. He knew canine furs were practically fearless and never ran from danger unless necessary. "I'm going out to get more firewood," he said as picked up an axe and started taking down the barricade. Sakura did not want him to go out but she knew that once he set his mind on something there was no stopping him. She was about to follow him but he told her to wait at the cabin. Sakura took this as an order and obeyed. Kiyo walked through the woods keeping his axe ready incase something tried to attack him. After about forty minutes of walking, he found a tree good enough to cut down. It took about twenty minutes for him to cut it down. When he finally finished he heard a loud roar and instantly knew it was from the same creature from earlier. He knew should get to the cabin but curiosity got the best of him and headed towards the source of the ominous sound. What he found shocked him beyond reason. There right in front of him was an anthropomorphic dragon. It was holding a large bone in its paws. Kiyo notice a dead bear six feet away and derived a conclusion. He decided to get a better look and crept closer. As he, did he could see the roasted remains of the bear were just charred bones. He was about six yards away when the dragon spotted him and then before Kiyo could knew it the dragon had he pinned to the ground. Kiyo's heart was racing as he stared in to the creature's yellow eyes and noticed the air around him was getting hotter. "What are you doing hear human and you better tell me the truth" the dragon growled. Kiyo knew by the sound of its voice that it was a male. "I'm waiting," he said impatiently. Kiyo knew he was at this dragon's mercy so he told the dragon he was camping with a friend. The dragon was satisfied with his answer and relaxed a bit. "Who are you?" Kiyo ask nervously. "My name is Pyro from planet wyvern" he responded. "I also have no interest in your name human but I do know you have a fur with you," Pyro said with toothy grin. Pyro released Kiyo, took off into the air, and disappeared. Kiyo quickly ran back to the cabin. When he walked through the door, Sakura ran up and hugged him tightly. "I'm so glad you're alright! When I heard the roar and saw the creature take off I was....scared that I lost the one person that I care about." She said as she wiped away a few tears.

Kiyo was surprised. He did not know she cared that deeply for him. He had liked her for the past two weeks but did not tell her how he felt because he was afraid of ruining their friendship by opening old wounds. He decided to tell her how he felt when they go back to the city in the morning. "I think we should go back to the city tomorrow morning," he said and Sakura nodded in agreement. She then realized she was still holding Kiyo and released him as they both blushed. They went to bed so they would be rest and ready to get out of the woods the next day. However, Pyro and his three siblings are already in the city waiting in the shadows. To be continued.
