Estrangement
Short little thing I did for the fun of it. It's loosely adapted from something. If you can guess what it is, you win. You don't win anything specific, but if Robert Baird is to be believed, it's probably panthers.

Kyle sat at the bus stop with his hood pulled up. The cold rain fell, coming down in sheets around him and propelled sideways into his face by the strong winds. He leaned against the neighborhood sign, priding itself as a community free from soliciting or loitering. The ferret couldn't help but see the irony in putting a school bus stop near such a sign. He sighed and put his arms around himself, trying to keep himself warm.
The teen checked his phone and there was a text from the guy he'd been speaking with online. He blushed when he saw the message, a reply to the picture he'd been asked to send. The picture was of him, shirt pulled up and jeans pulled down just enough to hint at what he had.
Kyle didn't even know who he was speaking with. But it didn't matter either. This was always going to be an online thing, so why bother?
The man he spoke to was in his thirties. With wiry, brown fur that turned tan and a little gray in some places. Kyle thought he was a canine but he couldn't be sure from body shots and underwear pictures. He looked at the pictures, going through pictures sent back and forth. There was nothing explicit but it was all so exciting! It was wonderful!
Kyle was not very lucky with guys. He'd known he was gay for a couple years now. He'd hidden it from his parents for over a year until they caught him making out with the college kid next door.
Maybe that was how Kyle started to get attracted to people older than him. Or maybe it was just that people his age were rash and impulsive and cruel.
Oh, were they cruel.
He leaned back and adjusted his pants, feeling the dark jeans grow tight the more he looked at the impassioned descriptions being showered upon him by the one person Kyle felt truly understood him. Jacob, the older man he'd spoken to for months. Something about that name, the musicality of it, the way it danced in his mind, and tasted in his mouth every time he moaned to himself, getting himself off to the lust being directed at him.
And last week, the two of them had decided to trade face pictures.
It was uncomfortable at first, a moment of worry before it gave way to something that Kyle still couldn't put his finger on. It was more than just the lust that it had been. This was more caring and for one night, Kyle couldn't do anything but enjoy himself. Enjoy every part of Jacob.
Everything about it made his body tingle and head swim. He looked at the screen and saw one last message.
"I have to go to work now. Talk to you later, cutie."
Kyle's cheeks burned hot, mouth going dry.
"Have a good day."
Kyle looked up and sighed with a shake of his head. He had no idea where his bus was... And the longer that he was out here waiting in the cold rain, the more he thought it wasn't coming. Kyle didn't need that kind of negativity in his life but it seemed likely to happen no matter his preferences.
The ferret glanced up when he heard his name being called. He saw a familiar red and white-striped car pulled on the side of the road. Its engine was idling and he looked over the early aught's body. He frowned, not sure why the car was stopping when the window rolled down.
"Need a lift, Kyle?"
The voice wasn't just a stranger it was...
"Mr. Walsh?" Kyle asked.
The middle-aged coyote nodded his head and leaned over towards the passenger side.
"It's pouring down rain here. Do you want a ride to school?"
Kyle paused. This wasn't a small offer from the coyote. It wasn't the weirdest thing to live in the same neighborhood as your teacher, but it was strange enough that when Kyle started up in his class, Mr. Walsh had to have a brief talk with him about the boundaries they had to set. They may be neighbors, but he was Kyle's teacher and that came with certain responsibilities and care to keep a distance.
So to hear his English teacher offer him a ride was...
"Sure, beats freezing out here."
The coyote smiled at that and the door popped open around the time that the teen got to the car. He climbed in, pulling his hood down, and shaking some of the water from his face.
"Stupid bus probably broke down again," Kyle grumbled.
Kyle was still fairly angry that he had to ride the bus so close to graduation anyway. But his car finally bit the dust and it left the ferret with no choice but to take the bus until he could scrounge up enough money for a car when he went to school. His friends had offered to pick him up, but was so out of the way from them that it didn't make any sense. So, the ferret found himself sitting in the dark fabric interior of his teacher's car.
"Turn the heat up if you want," Mr. Walsh said. Kyle did just that, focusing the vents to be directly on his face.
"I hate this weather," he griped, putting hands up to the vents. "Either snow or be spring, don't try and do both."
Mr. Walsh grinned at that and just shrugged his shoulders.
"There's shittier things," he said.
Mr. Walsh was relatively loose with his language. He would apologize in class when he slipped up and grin somewhat sheepishly at the class and put a finger to his lips saying, "you didn't hear that."
No one ever ratted him out because the coyote was the best damn AP teacher in the school, and his students' records spoke for themselves.
Kyle had just finished his exam so the pressure was off. The class was still going but the pressure of the test was over and Mr. Walsh could suggest fun books for each student to read and come up with a ten-page analysis on. Honestly, it wasn't the worst thing. Because he let them pick just about anything. He encouraged them to pick something that wasn't high literature. Because, for him, the whole point of his class was to "teach them how to read texts," but also, "to show that everything is a text, from Dora the Explorer to, shudder, Fifty Shades of Gray." He actually said shudder.
It wasn't hard for Kyle to admit that he really admired Mr. Walsh. There was an air of simplicity and kindness to him. He seemed to really care about his students as learners, not just their ability to pass the test.
Kyle kind of suspected that was why he was able to have so many successful students in the program.
Mr. Walsh cleared his throat and glanced over at the smaller ferret.
He wasn't that much taller than him, but he was certainly stronger than he looked. His chest was wide and there was slight definition in his arms. He looked like he probably worked out, or maybe he just ready so many heavy books all the time that his arms adjusted and bulked out accordingly. But, really what Kyle kept glancing at him for was, well... he was just really cute!
Kyle didn't really think anything of it, but Mr. Walsh was just a good-looking guy and he always seemed so genuine and he went above and beyond for his students so each of them felt special. But Kyle really did feel special. Something about the way that he felt around him... it was the greatest thing on earth.
"You can't go around saying you got a ride from me, got it?"
Kyle nodded his head.
"Kyle, please, this is serious. There are rules around this that I'm breaking but I just couldn't let you freeze your butt off out there waiting."
Kyle frowned at him and looked over, shifting his posture slightly.
"You could get in trouble for driving me to school? That's bullshit."
"It kind of is," Mr. Walsh agreed, his eyes glinting with the smile his lips couldn't match. "But it's to keep you safe. But I'm pretty sure I won't have to worry about that."
The words were kind, and caring but there was something to it. A hint of... mischief, or a tease? It made Kyle's stomach flutter.
The car pulled up to a stop and Mr. Walsh turned off the car. The pair of them stayed in the car, neither of them saying a word but they looked at one another for a moment before glancing forward.
"Thanks for the ride, I really appreciate it, Mr. Walsh."
Mr. Walsh nodded his head and gave a soft little grunt, glancing over at him. He reached a hand towards the ferret and Kyle could almost feel time slow down. They looked at each other, and Kyle was about to say something when the coyote plucked a damp leaf from the ferret's head.
"Couldn't let you go into school like that, could I? And I told you, Kyle," he looked him straight in the eye, resting a hand on the ferret's. "Call me Jacob."
The ferret felt his cheeks burn, hoping that it wasn't obvious. He nodded his head and licked his lips.
"You're right, Jacob. I'll, uh, I'll see you in there, okay?"
The coyote smiled and squeezed the ferret's hand again.
"See you in there, Kyle."

Jacob stood in the Teacher's lounge pouring himself a pot of coffee. He hums to himself, lost in thought as his tail gives a lazy wag. The way that the ferret looked at him in the car was wonderful. Jacob wasn't expecting the boy he'd flirted with for months to be his favorite student. He didn't know what to make of if after the first night, but when they woke up that Saturday morning and the ferret nestled into his neck, everything felt good.
"Lost in thought, eh Jake?"
The voice came from a tiger in a fitting t-shirt with the school's mascot on it. His legs were strong and the stripes were striking with his shirts on. The tiger, Joe, was the gym coach. He was well known for being harsh on any of the students who made academics a priority. For some, it pushed them, those who strove to excel at everything. But for others, it was like he wanted to tank an otherwise flawless GPA. Kyle happened to be one of those.
"Just had a groggy morning."
"Ah!" The tiger grinned. "Still gonna make them run out in this. It's good for them! Builds character!"
Jacob didn't have a response to that, he kept his mouth shut and tried to imagine Kyle out there in the rain. He gripped his mug tighter and closed his eyes. There was no sense in getting angry at Joe over it. It was his class to teach and he had every right to do it but it felt so wrong to him.
"Especially that ferret kid in my third period. Honestly, the kid never wants to do anything. He hates being there, so I might as well give him a reason to hate it, right?"
Jacob didn't realize he was scowling, nor did he realize he was spinning around until he was facing the tiger. His hackles were raised and the coyote's eyes narrowed.
"You leave Kyle alone," he growled, face to face with the tiger. He was hardly intimidating, however. The tiger stood a foot over him and had easily 20 pounds of muscle on him. But the coyote couldn't just let the ferret be tormented like that.
Joe wasn't intimidated. He smirked and tapped the coyote's cheek with an open hand.
"Calm down, Jakie poo. I'm just teasing. Yeesh, the way you're coming to his defense, it's like you want to bang the kid or something."
Jacob kept his gaze hard for a moment before breaking out in a wide grin, trying his best to defuse the tension the room was suddenly embroiled with.
"I'm just screwing with you, Tim. But you know that if you take them out in this weather, one of those brats is going to tell their parents and they're likely to sue you. I'd be careful is all."
Tim nodded his head before shaking it, a grimace on his face.
"Damn snowflakes can't take a little water. Honestly, I wish things were like they were when I was in school. No one would bat an eye at something like that. What's happened to this country?"
The coyote shrugged, as if to say, I couldn't tell ya.
The shrill of the first period bell shook both of them free of their standoff. Tim wiped a thumb over his nose.
"Time to get to class. Take it easy, coyote," the tiger said, drawling out each of the three syllables.
"Yeah," Jacob said, watching the tiger leave. He turned around and poured his coffee down the sink, not sure he could stomach it right now.

Kyle's classmates gave him the cold shoulder as they walked outside of Mr. Walsh's class. They brushed past him, even shoulder checking him as he was the only one in the class to get an A. And the whispers he hears hurt him immediately because they're true. Kyle probably did only get an A on his paper because of his relationship with Jacob. But it wasn't like they were public either. They were so careful in the week following their meet up. But...
But Kyle had always been Mr. Walsh's favorite. It was easy to see that. They were so close and something about their time together just clicked so perfectly for the other. It was hard not to suck up to Mr. Walsh.
Maybe that was a poor choice of words.
But, Kyle didn't think he was being too overt in his liking of Mr. Walsh.
Jacob cleared his throat at his desk. They were the only two left in the room and Kyle was still standing by the door, thinking about the words being thrown at him. Hey tried not to let them bother him but damn... It hurt him.
"Everything okay over there, Kyle?"
"Y-yeah, Mr. Walsh. It's fine. Just, uh..." he clears his throat again. "Just hate being here still. Can't wait to graduate, you know?"
The teacher nodded his head and took a long sip of his coffee. Kyle's next class is gym and he's clearly stalling, looking at Mr. Walsh for any excuse not to leave. He can't handle that right now. Not another drop to the pool of misery that is life in high school. But his one oasis keeps looking at him.
"Let me know how gym goes, okay, Kyle? I heard that Coach Kaminski might have you guys run in the rain."
The ferret froze and shook his head.
"Damn... Thanks for the heads up."
The ferret started to walk closer to him. He didn't even realize he was doing it. But he was reaching his arms out for a hug and Kyle's heart dropped when the firm hand on his shoulder stopped him.
"Don't," Jacob whispered. His eyes pleading with the younger man. "Don't stand so close to me, okay?"
Kyle stared back at him for a moment but nodded his head. He turned on his heel and walked out.
***
Kyle pushed Jacob against the wall that night. He held the coyote up against the closed front door. His lips were moving over the coyote's, beginning and ending kisses just as soon as the last one began. He gasped when claws went up the back of his shirt and some deep, submissive part of his hindbrain must have told him to freeze so he did.
He stayed there, frozen, staring ahead at the Jacob. Jacob watched that cute little smile spread across the younger male's face and soon they were kissing again, stopping just long enough that Kyle could be relieved of his shirt. The ferret stared ahead at his lover, knowing how wrong what they were doing was but not daring to stop. He grabbed Jacob's shirt and lifted it up but the coyote had to smack his hands away.
"It's a button up!" he laughed.
Kyle's cheeks flushed with acknowledgement and helped Jacob undo the buttons. He dropped to his knees, pulling the buttons open, kissing up the stomach with a care that would be touching if not for the age difference at play. Jacob felt like he should feel dirty, an old man preying on a much younger male but it was... it was too good to stop!
He grabbed the ferret's hair. Kyle glanced up at him with a questioning look on his face but stood up without another word.
The pair stood at each other, bare chests revealed and both of them panting with one another. They had done this one time before but this was...
"I'm not taking advantage of you, right?" Jacob said, holding Kyle's cheek in his hand. The ferret kissed his hand and wrist again and again, eyes closed. He kept shaking his head and whispering.
"No. No. No. No."
The coyote frowned but Kyle put his hands on his hips and tugged him closer. The need they both felt was pressed between them. They held on to the other, clutching each other and staring with something between reverence and terror.
"Do you want--"
"Yes!" Kyle said.
They smiled and it turned to laughter, Kyle's eagerness evident as anything. He pushed up to Jacob and forced the kiss on him again. But Jacob didn't fight it. He grabbed Kyle's pants, working he zipper down and sliding his hand down. He gripped his shaft through the fabric of his boxers. Kyle shivered at his touch and he rolled his hips forward, pressing into his hand. The coyote stroked him slowly, feeling the young male's tongue slip into his lips. He wanted this for so long. The boy--the young man--was always so astute and eager to learn in class. They got along so well and it was only natural, right? But this wasn't...
God.
This wasn't right. But that's what made the ache in his pants hurt so good. He grabbed the ferret and pushed him back.
"Get your ass to the bedroom. We won't be leaving there tonight."
Kyle practically skipped up the stairs and Jacob let his eyes wander on the boxers he wore which contained such a cute little ass.
When Jacob got into the bedroom, he pulled his pants down and the two were both in their boxers, Kyle laying back on his bed, thumb crooked in his pants. The coyote couldn't help but look. He arched a brow, smirking and tugging at the ferret's boxers and letting that dark shaft free. He smiled at his own little prize and felt that he had some new and uncomfortable understanding of Nabokov.
"Going to keep those on?" Kyle said, glancing at the blue boxers still clinging to the coyote's fur.
"Why don't you help me with them?" Jacob said, pushing past the lump in his throat.
Kyle sat up on the bed. He tugged the boxers down, staring up at Jacob. He licked his lips, eyes running over the dark red shaft on the coyote. He opened his mouth and the tip was soon swallowed up by an eager mouth. He lost his breath when that tongue went along the underside and swirled. Leaning in, he inadvertently pushed his cock deeper into Kyle's mouth but the ferret took it like a champ. He slid down, bobbing along the shaft with a slow focus. He moved at his hips, turning it into a whole body affair. One hand grabbed the coyote's heavy balls, squeezing them the farther down he got.
Kyle was so cute it hurt Jacob. Jacob never asked for any of this. Hell, Jacob was going to talk Kyle _out_of trying to seek sex from strangers online when that night happened. When Kyle had kissed him so hard he was out of breath afterwards. When Kyle had ridden him for hours...
Because Kyle was someone that Jacob had grown so fond of in his year as his teacher, grown from years of knowing him as a neighbor.
But to have the teen pressing his nose up against his pubic fur without so much of a gag was...
Well, it was no wonder he felt like he was going to cum so soon.
"F-fuck... It's been so long since I've had this regularly," Jacob whispered.
Kyle pulled back to the top, kissing over the tip and down to the base. His nose brushing into the rough patch of pubic fur.
"I know... I remember that collie that used to come around. She was, your girlfriend, right?"
"Y-yeah," Jacob said, grinding his throbbing shaft into the ferret's cheek.
"Sorry it didn't work out," Kyle said. He pushed his head back down on the cock, pushing down until his nose was grinding into Jacob's pubic fur. He shivered around Jacob's cock, eyes watering the longer he held himself down there.
"Y-yeah..." Jacob grinned, hand resting on his head. "Somehow, I don't really believe you!"
Kyle couldn't reply. He was relaxing his jaw for the pumping hips of the larger coyote. His chin was slapped about by his balls, cock pushing deep, pumping harder with the growing need. He was going to cum and they'd only just begun! He should hold out for longer but... But Goddamn!
He came hard, shooting his seed deep into Kyle's throat. He held him there, pulsing shaft filling him up with his potent seed. It was a steady flow of cum that flew past Kyle's tongue so fast Jacob was sure Kyle couldn't taste it. But the ferret pulled back and kept the tip in his mouth. He took the last spurts of cum into his mouth without blinking. He stared up at Jacob, and opened his mouth to show the heavy coating of cum on his tongue before swallowing it all down and sticking his tongue out.
"Y-yeah... I'm sure you're really torn up that she broke up with me."
Kyle opened his mouth to say something but Jacob shoved him down to the bed and kissed him. He held him there, kissing and letting their lips meet, dancing and moving together, a slow grind and play of their mouths until the kissing had stopped and Kyle was left panting beneath him.
"Mmm. That was..." Kyle trailed off, grinning from ear to ear.
"Yeah," Jacob agreed. He flipped onto his back, laying there with the nude teen beside him. He reached out and took his hand, giving a soft squeeze. Kyle laced his fingers with his and gave the larger hand a few soft kisses.
"Can I ask you one thing before we go again?"
Jacob turned onto his side to face him. Kyle turned back to face him, looking at him with a light blush burning into his cheeks.
"Of course, Kyle. Always."
The ferret bit the inside of his cheek and glanced up at his teacher.
"You didn't pass me on that paper just because we're fucking, right?"
Jacob shook his head. "Absolutely not. Just because you take my knot like a champ doesn't mean you get off easy in my class."
Kyle's cheeks burned hot and he leaned into the coyote and gave him a soft kiss, letting that quell whatever hesitation or fear he had over their relationship. The guilt might still remain but damn, with a young man as eager as he was, Jacob was sure he could silence whatever guilt he had.
