It is time to face that which I have distracted myself from for many a year. I am on my way to the light, but I can only get there by going through...

The Darkness

Here it is again,

The broiling, wroiling, deepest, darkest pit

Seemingly endless, seemingly depthless,

The bottommost place.

My pitch black nemesis.

I struggle away, stumbling, tumbling

Only to return and tremble in its presence.

Every time I gaze upon it

I lose my way and everything loses focus.

Where am I?

Who am I?

What am I?

Again, I am at the precipice,

The edge of reason and light.

It pulls me, calls me, beckons me

Ever closer. Step by step.

Every path leads me to it.

Every option takes me back.

I am at the edge.

I am closer than ever before.

I stare deep within.

Deeper into that darkness.

My darkness.

What do I see?

What is inside me?

What am I so afraid of?

Should I jump?

What hides within?

Envy.

Wrath.

Lust.

Pride.

Gluttony.

Sloth.

Greed.

What lies beyond?

Is it a greater darkness?

The bottom.

The end.

Or is it more?

A beginning after an end.

A new start.

A clear path to more?

I am afraid.

The darkness haunts me.

The light eludes me.

I cannot go back.

Cannot go up.

There is only down.

To the depths,

The darkness.

I Would Miss You

If you ever left me, if you ever ran to hide, I would feel alone and lost without you near. What would I do, who would I become without my guide? Gone without a flicker, your light no longer there to cast away my fear. If you ever left me, if you...
