Shapeshifting Lovers and Suppers of Passage
1
Since her friend from high school Dena had convinced her to take the same communications class at the university, Blue found her in the COMM lecture hall's sea of departing students after the professor dismissed the class. They greeted each other with a big hug.
“I didn't see a text from you—I didn't think you would register to the class so close to the start of the semester—ahh!" Dena grinned. “I'm just glad you showed up, Blue."
Blue nodded and smiled, but she was distracted. The cacophonous mass of people and the amount of syllabus notes the professor had heaped onto them had her anxiously daydreaming about the workload. Already their professor had assigned them some news report homework. They would be publicly speaking for the first time next week, after a lesson later this week.
“I'd feel pretty lost here if I didn't know anyone," Blue admitted. “How have your other professors been with homework?"
“Ugh. Piles upon piles of research. I'm supposed to be in the speaking business, not the writing business. The good thing is, my elective is an art class, and it seems like it's gonna be a lot more lax than the others."
“Art."
“Yeah. Some time away from typing, you know?"
As they made up the stairs into the hallway, Blue thought about the family shape fraternities of the university. “I think I'm most excited about joining the Drawscale Fraternity. That would be my time away." She rubbed behind her neck, minutely embarrassed. She knew what Dena thought about dragons and fantastical creatures in general.
Dena froze, so Blue froze too. Students walked past them, glancing back curiously. “You, joining up with the dragons?"
Blue frowned. “If you think about it, you and dragons have a lot in common."
Dena recoiled. She gave Blue a reprimanding squint. “How exactly? Dragons always talk down to people. They're destructive. And also, their fraternity house cost the school a fortune. So much money could have gone to the teachers and the education, but instead it went into prettying up the Drawscale mansion. Goes to show you what kind of people they are."
_I shouldn't have brought this up again, _Blue thought. “I mean, I don't know much about the Drawscale finances. I just … I see similarities between you and dragons in general. In a good way. You're strong and passionate, and you played an active role in lots of leadership groups at the high school."
Dena shook her head. She walked ahead of Blue disappointedly.
“Dena—hey. I hear that guy Teryn from senior year is gonna be joining Drawscale."
“Enough." Dena tugged her satchel bag closer, walked faster. Blue hurried to catch up. “I was planning on asking you to join Steer with me. I saw you fitting in with the stags. Even though you're obsessed with dragons, I thought I could convince you. Guess not. Anyway, Teryn's yours."
“Sorry, Dena."
After pacing ahead of Blue, Dena winked dismally and finger-waved. “Catch you later," she said, fading into the crowd with her voice: "Off to the next class ..."
Blue reached for her pleadingly, but stopped. Students clustered around her, moving in herds to various rooms; and yet, she felt lonelier than ever. _But Dena already had her last class for today, _she remembered.

Even though their friendship didn't spontaneously dissolve; even though they shared a few chuckles and words of support with each other in the first few weeks of school, from then on, a feeling of awkwardness pressed between them. A feeling of unbelonging.
They never formally said goodbye. They just … became busier and busier. Homework was their main excuse.
It's true that their professors heaped more work and more tests on throughout the beginning of the semester, but at the same time, Blue and Dena stopped yearning for each other's support. They accepted more often the support of their fraternity members, for Blue had been welcomed into the house of Drawscale and Dena into the house of Steer.
And so what followed Blue's silent goodbye to her old friend was a boisterous hello.
This boisterous hello came from dozens of humans—and the first dragons Blue had ever seen. Most of the dragons were gigantic, standing five or six storeys tall. Cheers of humans, of both men and women, and cheerful roars of dragons announced her coming into the Lair of Dragons, Drawscale's fraternity house. When Dena found one of the fraternity leaders and asked to become a member, the group members affably encircled her and embraced her with warm arms and scaly wings.
Staff routinely purged photographs of the place from the internet. With that said, its interior was something of legend. The cavernous amount of space—the grandeur of the place …
Its masonry and its arches brought to mind a Gothic cathedral. This place was even bigger, though. Whereas cathedrals had long-but-slender naves, the Lair of Dragons was long and wide. With a ceiling several storeys high, the house could accommodate even the rowdiest maneuverings of dragons.
Cut into the backmost wall of the house were large archways: at least a dozen. The three frat leaders—a gold, a ruby and an emerald dragon—informed Blue that those archways led into the private rooms of the members of the house who had each been granted the ability to shapeshift into a dragon.
_This is what I've wanted for so long, _Blue thought. _To earn the right to turn into a dragon. But will the leaders think I'm worthy? _Only two members per year were granted the shapeshifting ability. How many years would it take her to earn her dragonhood? Would she ever?
Weeks and weeks passed.
In the beginning, Blue could still feel the void of her evaporated friendship with Dena. She still felt tiny whenever she walked through the campus halls and the plazas riddled with thousands of people. But she learned that Drawscale's members had her back.
The people there found math as tedious as she did; needed as much a reprieve from schoolwork as she did; and because of the conglomeration of fiery personalities, they helped each other to persevere through the semester. And so Blue's intrapsychic sensation of bittersweetness gradually became one of harmony, of wholesome happiness. Her mental wounds were healing.
Best of all, Teryn had indeed joined Drawscale.
Since he recognized Blue from high school, he happily befriended her. She found him attractive because he wasn't trying to be. He often said unintentionally adorable things, and he also joked with her, which helped them both plough through their homework piles when they went to one another's dorms. He had helped her with a couple of her projects and shared a couple secrets with her which he said he'd shared with no one else (like the fact that he had only applied to the university with the hope that he would be able to see and touch a dragon), so she considered him reliable and trustworthy.
Sometimes, Blue saw bits of herself in Teryn: the shyness, the reservedness. He showed the latter more to people with whom he had had less a chance to open up to. As for his shyness, Blue often tried to chat him up or let him in on conversations with her and other fraternity members. That's how the other members had been helping her play the part of an extrovert, after all.
By catalyzing and recycling each other's energy, Blue and Teryn excelled in the group activities of group meetings: games that fostered confidence, initiative, physical strength and comfortability between members of Drawscale. And Drawscale's three leaders could palpably taste the improvement in the moods, talents and social skills of the two.
Perhaps, because of this, the events of two months later transpired the way that they did. Two months later, the gold, emerald and ruby dragons hosted the ceremony where all the twenty new members would pledge to the house; where two of the new members would be awarded the ability to shapeshift.
“Teryn and Blue!" announced the emerald dragon.
Applause and cheers echoed through the cavernous hall. Teryn and Blue jumped for joy and hugged each other, hopping in circles.
Once everyone settled down, the three leaders of Drawscale each breathed toward Teryn and Blue a stream of flame. Imbued with the magic of the ceremony, the flames swirled around both of them, bathing them in a pyromantic sphere, baptising them in dragonbreath.
When the flames had cleared, “Now," rumbled the ruby dragon, “try for yourselves. Transform, then spread your wings and loosen your roars to the ceiling!"
Blue and Teryn concentrated on the fires that burned in their chests. They allowed themselves to push and squeeze on the muscles of their body. Along their chests started to spread scales—sapphire ones on Blue, mocha on Teryn. Their faces projected forward. Bestial growls of pleasure rose from their elongating throats. Crackling sounds came from their increasingly quadrupedal backsides. Stumps of limbs rose over the shoulder blades of arms which slowly shifted into forelegs. The limb-stumps pushed upward, as the searing-away of skin swathed both dragons in brilliant diamond-shaped scales. Their changing anatomy soon bowed them onto all fours.
Together, they grew and grew. They rose high over their human peers; they enlarged to surpass the roofs of homes, scaling multiple storeys toward the Lair's ceiling … Wings sprouted from their backs, threshing powerfully. The crowd of fraternity members had distanced themselves considerably, since they were used to people transforming amongst them.
Blue and Teryn crested in their growth. Their legs towered above the humans of the room; and their hands changed into paws which grew sharp claws; and the paws grew large enough to crush humans with a single step … They kept transforming from there, gaining scaly soles and greater body length.
During the growth of their paws, tails sprouted from their gorgeous posteriors and horns speared from their heads: heads which elongated and carved for themselves more complex, draconic shapes, trading their original noses for nostril slits on the end of each beautifully carven muzzle. Each set of jaws featured rows of pearly dragon fangs.
Before the roster of Drawscale Fraternity, the two new dragons roared in triumph and then went galumphing merrily around each other. The gold dragon leader proclaimed, “Today, Teryn and Blue, you are born again. Congratulations!"
3
Months elapsed.
Teryn and Blue had an upcoming opportunity to better explore the potential of their new dragon forms. The Steer Fraternity was to throw a party in the woods. Blue had become so comfortable with Teryn that she proposed to him an idea that she would have seen as taboo if she had said it to anyone else.
“Hey Teryn … What if we crashed the party?"
Both of them were in their human forms, taking a stroll through a busy plaza of the university campus. Teryn swung his hips back and forth with discomfort. “But … the leaders of the fraternity said that we shouldn't interfere with other fraternities," he protested.
Ever since Blue had received her dragon form, she had felt a lot of her reluctance to do things melt away. “We're dragons now. What could the Drawscale leaders possibly do to us in retaliation? They're family. We're family."
“They also trust us, Blue. And remember, they have dragon forms of their own. In fact, they hardly ever leave their dragon forms."
Blue raised a brow. He'll need some better encouraging. Despite that they strolled in public through a thick crowd, she balled her fists and focused: She fell onto all fours and suddenly grew—fast, rampantly. Her shirt and skirt tore away. Only a flicker of human flesh was given; for the next instant, she had transformed to loom high above the plaza, a dragoness of sapphire scales 25 meters tall at the shoulders.
The expansion of her body had lashed dozens of unexpecting students to the ground, tossing book bags and purses about. Students cried out, gathered to their feet and stumbled away in droves with their peers; though, Blue seemed unconcerned with them. Smirking, she pinned her human lover under a forepaw, catching him as though he were no more than a rodent. He gulped. She rumbled coyly at him, flicking her forked tongue.
“How does it feel being under my claws, Teryn? I have a lot of power in this form, and you have a lot in your own. Trust that power; don't disregard it." She leaned down and slurped his whole body with her forked tongue, coating him in a heated slather. It left him trembling and wondering over her size and splendor. “Now … How about the party? Gonna join me? We'll have a few snacks … turn a few stags to splatters beneath our paws … show them who's on top of the food chain. Doesn't seem like anyone else in house Drawscale will."
As forbidden as the proposal sounded, how could Teryn turn down such an exciting offer from his mate? It would be the perfect time for the two of them to make the most of their dragon forms … and have some fun together that wasn't diluted by intervals of calculus and reports. Giving in, Teryn heaved her forepaw away with a transformation; he twisted onto his feet, turning into a great brown dragon, 21 meters tall at the shoulders.
Often she teased him about being smaller than her. If he didn't lift his head, he would now be talking to her neck. “You know, Blue? I'm with you. I'll be with you whenever, wherever, as long as you want me to be—even if it means the fraternity leaders end up pretty infuriated with us."
With a nod of gratitude, Blue turned toward the woods that lurked beyond the campus buildings. Teryn followed her lead, and the two of them skipped across the stonework of the plaza before they bounded over the campus, bursting a-flight.
Meanwhile, four dozen Steers socialized in the woods. A dozen more could have showed up, but they had either been disinterested, littered with homework or opted to sleep in.
By a coniferous tree, one Steer in human form was playing a lute, thumping the wood now and then to the sweet melody. Beside him a singer sang the lyrics to some folk song about beasts frolicking alongside a river. Some Steers were dancing, some playing. A minority chatted and sipped wine at a wine table. Later in the evening, the Steers planned on regrouping to meditate and express their appreciation for all the nouns—that is to say people, places and things—in their lives.
What none of the Steers planned for, however, were for winged reptiles to descend upon their party … Two dragons, whose legs from the feet to the joints were far taller than any of the Steers, swept a duo of grand shadows across the autumnal detritus of the party clearing.
The lute of the lute player squealed to a stop. The singer burst into a scream; and so did the rest of those poor, poor prey. Who invited those selfish, spontaneous, destructive Drawscales to their outing?
“They're not supposed to be here."
“Are they trying to get expelled?"
“Dart into the bushes—quick!"
“No!" yelled their leader, a stag. He galloped onto a jutting rock. He pronounced with stark poise: “Stay calm. Of course they know we're here. Why else would they come? Stick where you are! We'll see what they want."
Struggling against their instincts, the stags and humans stood still as stone—or only staggered a little—when the dragons descended. The clearing metallically shook; tree-stuff showered down from the overstory when the resplendent sapphire dragon and the brown dragon smashed their wings more slowly as a means of aerially breaking. They swooped down, cleaving the flanks of redwood trees. Their taloned feet perched into the earth, trampling some smaller coniferous trees flat and unearthing their roots.
Too large to topple the redwoods, these dragons might have been. Yet still, that did not deter their stride through the rows of them: With wide spaces in between, the redwoods let Blue and Teryn make their way to the Steers, the THUMPS of their feet shaking the cores of the Steers; their folded wings carving bark away from the trees they grazed.
“Such a forested area … they still came," one of the Steers lamented. He took a hard gulp.
The Steer-leader, doing his best to hide his bafflement, puffed out his furred chest and threw back his horns. “Drawscales, what brings you to our gathering? We're here to celebrate our spirits. We're here for music and laughter, to hear the clomps of our hooves on unpaved ground. Surely you haven't come to join us? Compared with ours, your house path has … many contrasts."
“Indeed," Blue purred. “For one, your path is much more herbivorous. Ours is rather carnivorous." She slurped across her lips. A splotch of steamy saliva catapulted onto the tip of the Steer-leader's rock. The Steer-leader reared with a pang of fear, and stumbled a few steps down the rock's slope.
“Alright," said the Stag, throat tightening. “Let me remind you of the house rules, since the two of you are newer to Drawscale, if I recall correctly. You must leave! I'm sorry. But if you refuse, I must report this incident to the UC and the leaders of your house. Wing back! Leave us be! Though we may have our differences, we all wish for peace."
“That is bold of you to assume," rumbled Blue, and took a single step. Her giant forepaw struck like a meteor into the loam before the rock; and the force of the implanting of her footprint hurled the stag onto the forest floor. Sky-blue eyes, slitting with hunger, narrowed down on the downed little deer. “For the less adventurous is peace. For the leaf-feeders is an empty stomach … but for us …"
The Steer-leader became a bleating mess of flailing limbs. He tried to rise from his back, to get onto his hooves again. The other Steers could no longer stay themselves: They shrieked; they fled—only to have their escape route blocked by the swinging tail, the grand stature and the warning countenance of the majestic brown.
Blue and Teryn formed two halves of a barrier round the steers. The dragoness plucked up the leader between a talon and thumb-claw then brought him level with her smoking muzzle. With one yawn, she revealed a cavern of jaws. The breath of a predator—and the slather of one, too—spattered on the prickled fur of the whimpering deer. Only as thick as the dragoness' forked tongue was the stag. And that tongue drew out of her jaws to slurp along his underbelly … to sample his salty, gamey skin. From her serpentine esophagus rolled a deep drone of pleasure. “Funny, it sounded like you were saying you were going to tell on us? Hmmmm. I love specifics. Tell me, how will you rave to the administrations when your voice is muffled by belly flesh thicker than your entire body?"
The voice of the stag came choked and hushed: “Please. We can forget all of this."
“How will you write me up when you're wrapped up in my tongue, little meat? How will you discipline us when you're digesting in the pit of my stomach?"
The stag could only mutter muffled words when her forked tongue lapped him into the humidity of her slimy mouth. A content grumble washed over his bedraggled fur. Her ropy black lips squished together, then her jaws knitted together, zipping him away in her maw. Around him her tongue twisted and coiled and clenched and constricted his bones, leaving him helpless. Who was once the leader of the Steers now was no more than a quivering morsel, whom she glided along the rugged palate of her mouth. A sibilant rumble accompanied a gush of hot, smoky breath. Her heart rate sped up. So this was her supper of passage. One swallow … and she would become a true dragon in spirit by stomaching her first prey.
The stag being slid down her tongue shifted into his human shape. He tried to beg her to reconsider. No one could hear his insignificant voice, not below those tides of content throaty rumbles, and especially not behind the silken padding of her mouth flesh. Despite this, the members of Steer could tell by the slathering grin, the content squint of her eyes, the backwards canting of her skull: their leader was going to the midriff of the massive predator.
Again, they tried dashing away. This time, many careened toward the shadows below Teryn's underbelly and tail. Teryn though collapsed his legs, as if to thump onto his gut; and by the time he did thump, the startled Steers had recoiled back toward the heart of the ring of dragons. The brown dragon then planted a forepaw on two humans and a stag, smushing them under his scaly sole. Groans and wails resounded from the gaps between his talons; and from those same gaps, hands and hooves reached out, failing to drag their owners free.
Teryn felt a tingle of dopamine fill his draconic skull. The power that he and his mate possessed tantalized him. His mere presence prevented the rest of the prey from running off—and he attributed the word “prey" to these people much more naturally now.
He glanced at Blue. The peristaltic jiggle of her plated esophagus entranced him. You could just barely see the bulge of her minuscule prey passing down the meander of that gullet. Within the throat, her human prey groaned as a sloppy wall of the descent smacked against his back. Oxygen deprivation began to blot out his vision while he ricocheted farther down. In his free fall, he reached out to scrabble his hands over another slimy bend, only to be effortlessly flung away by the esophageal flesh from a musculatory spasm.
Desperate, he shapeshifted into his stag form again—attempted to try to race upward in his freefall, but then the sheer force of an impact with a low slope of her digestive tract crushed sundry bones in his skeleton. The stag—twitching like a pathetic rodent—then slid through a donut of flesh. The contracting lips of the sphincter barely grazed his small form before he plunged into the dragoness' spacious belly. The chamber seemed as vast to him as the Lair of Dragons had initially seemed to her. Though—having extremely humid and acrid air—this chamber was far less hospitable than that Lair.
Impalpable odors seared his lungs. A gasp escaped him when he plunged into the acrid soup. All a sudden, an explosion of burning over his skin. Her murky gold enzymes set to flaying him alive. Heated screams barely made it above the cacophony of burbling. Fur sizzled, and soon flesh narrowed enough to reveal bones. The horns of the stag melted like icicles. So many chastising threats he had made to Blue … yet, her belly metabolized him like he was no more than a dietary dinner.
Her leathery membranes made a taut whinnying sound, for she stretched her wings and stretched her neck to a string of satiation that extended through her anterior from her gut. She let fall her lower jaw, then let out a crass belch. The trunks of the trees trembled. The bass of her thunderous release threw many a Steer off their feet; and the acerbic stench of her stomach filled them with dread and horror.
“Dragons have spared you little snacks long enough," she boomed. “What gall you have to think you can govern our hunger, to think you have power over us. Let us see how strong is a stag when a dragon's foot comes down."
One ginormous forepaw rose a storey over the Steers, and then its shadow fell in the center of their group. A boom of the earth made dust billow around her beautiful claws. The victims of the smash of her sole became no more than flattened skeletons as fast as the flick of a candle.
She enforced pressure with her foot, stamping the crushed pieces of spine and bone deep into the earth. When she lifted her paw, squashed to the sole was gore—the remnants of her victims, the stag parts no longer discernible from the human ones. Bloody residuals, meshed with muck and foliage, dripped and crumbled to the loam, upon which the guts of the critters were already dashed widely across. She succeeded this destructive footprint with a forepaw swipe, obtaining a stag and a woman.
To both of her front paws she separated them. She held the woman by the nape, accidentally gouging her delicate neck flesh in the process of plopping that woman into her leviathan mouth. The squirmy prey her met her great dexterous tongue when it gave her an anaconda squeeze, imbibing her in thick goop. Blue gulped the woman down, then snapped her claws to flick the stag from them above her maw: It purged a rancid, predatory breath before he plopped off her tongue down her reptilian throat with as much fanfare as a marshmallow deserves.
A dastardly guffaw thundered above a multitude of Steers who made another effort to dart into the safety of the woods. Before they could so much as desert her radius, she shuffled her feet to confirm the escapists with her periphery, then lashed that leviathan tail! Three Steers fell wounded; the rest, she slaughtered with the brute strength of the blow, leaving bodies mangled and crooked where ravens would later find the carrion.
After watching his mate trample, devour and terrorize with such ravenousness, Teryn gathered the confidence to join the fun. He prowled around a group of Steers, erecting his shoulders on the hunt. His hungry features horrified them; and before they could contemplate escape, his forepaw mauled the earth. It came up having scooped up a pair of Steers.
From him came a pleased serpentine hiss. When a body plopped onto his tongue thanks to a loosening of his talons, a great harrumph followed. He savored the saltiness of his snack then swallowed with promptness, and proceeded to drop his second catch onto his nimble pink tasting appendage before the first one had fully finished descending his throat as a bulge.
Behind the vanquished prey, zigzags of light zipped shut. The sharp marrow of his jaws clamped together; and his tongue had lashed back into his maw, the dragon's jowls jiggling as his smug smirk denoted that his meals now took the mortal spelunking into his gut.
“I could spare a few of you," he said. He planted a megalith forepaw before a dozen Steers. “But you better give me a good reason to do so. My claws could use a thorough polishing."
And indeed, they did: After playing in the dirt, he had gotten muck caked along the lower-side inrolls of his otherwise marvelous claws. Each claw was longer than any of the Steers' limbs. The Steers—all of the human—knelt and rolled onto their sides and crawled between each claw. They set to wiping away the muck between each deadly draconic appendage. Unsatisfied with the speed of their progress, Teryn lifted the paw and pinned two of them beneath the musky sole, saying, “Are we afraid of getting our hands dirty, now?"
Ahh. He was beginning to sound like Blue. Musicality and boldness bathed his voice as he slipped into this dragon persona.
The same way the rich, enchanting masculine odor of his foot-pad bathed the paw-slaves buried beneath. His paw-slaves—both below the foot and around the claws—deep into the trenches, the ivory ones and the scaly ones that segregated each metallic brown rhombus of scale. And of course they pampered the scales themselves. Soon, claws and feet that had been marred by muck dazzled the eye—as the paws of a dragon should. Every reachable rhombus below his ankles had been waxed free of dirt and buffed to a glinting shine. Yet still, the Steers feared for their lives and clocked in for overtime work: One began licking along the length of each claw, preening and prettying it; and the rest of them joined in, slicking his other claws in a subservient massage.
“Ah, yes. Very good, my foot … servants," he stumbled, trying to keep up the role. Blue chuckled absently at his adorableness. She was currently busying herself with playing with the remaining Steers: flicking them down with a claw whenever they tried to hasten off; slurping them off their feet onto their backsides.
Teryn glanced down at his foot worshipers, then back at her. His soft leaf-shaped ears perked up.
“Hey, Blue. Do you think we should let a few of them live? After all, they'll make for good servants. I'm thinking about how bummed we'll be if we want to do something like this again but there aren't any Steers left for us to do it."
Blue crushed her scaly brows together, and he chuckled. He could practically hear the devious thoughts being created, hear how she planned to make them praise and massage her and her mate. In reality, she was partly annoyed that he'd broken character.
At length, she smiled then leered at the Steers. “My mate would be so kind as to propose to let the rest of you live to serve as our playthings. How does that sound? Or would you prefer to be bit-sized snacks and blemishes on our pawprints?"
Without safe ground to object, the little ones nodded with indignance. Some of them made uninspired insectile chirps of agreement; others simply shuddered, knowing their fate.
“A wise choice, little ones." Blue grinned at Teryn, strode to him then nuzzled him. “You make a pretty good dragon. The Drawscale leaders would be impressed."
“Oof. Now I know you're not being serious. Oh, Blue … I wasn't trying to think of them. Now I am. Just imagine what they're going to say when they find out we've been so indulgent."
“Indulgent? Is being carnivorous indulgent for a dragon? It's just what dragons were meant to do. Besides, if you're afraid of the consequences, just look what happened to the last person who thought he could control the dragons?" She tapped a claw to her belly. It gurgled and glorped on occasion, despite the tininess of her meal.
Teryn hugged his wings to his sides and wiggled tensely, shaking his head. “You're not really suggesting we eat the leaders of our own house."
Blue shrugged a forepaw to say no. “I'm really not. We'd never get the leaders down our gullets, unless they shrunk a little."
Teryn's silence punctuated the echo of her thunderous voice.
Consequently, she became aware of the Steers listening to their less mythical/more colloquial conversation. “If we are to chat dragon to dragon, why don't we head somewhere more private? Let's take one of the Steers. I have a fun idea."
Although Blue afforded Teryn no time to answer her question, she rightly assumed his okayness with the plan. He nuzzled under her neck, shivering anxiously. He thought about how much they had diverged from the ethos of the fraternity. She sensed his concern, then let spread one of her toasty wing-membranes over him. She vibrated from her throat.
“They will not harm us, my dragon."
Teryn gazed thoughtfully at her. He purred. “And I will not leave your side."
The words reminded Blue of a broken friendship. Bittersweetness split across her thoughts, but she fought it off with a shudder. “Thank you. Let's be on our way. We'll be taking you." She curled one of the Steers in her forepaw, then said to the others, “The rest of you are on call for now …"
She turned away, launched into the lanky overstory. Her wingspan whipped up a hurricane to carry her aloft. She rose despite the narrow, chipping tree trunks that put friction on her ascent. Then Teryn rose too, and the two of their silhouettes arrowed up from the treetops. They arced down, made a few flunky gallops of wingbeats, then together smoothened their flight as they caught the thermals.
Wing alonside wing, Teryn and Blue stole over the forested region. A midnight blue cooled the red coal line caused by the setting sun. Lighthearted conversation about their new dragon forms—and about their liberation from the rules of the school families—carried them to a long, deforested cliffside. They could perch down there with only a few itty trees to hamper them. And so they did; and then Blue set the chosen Steer between herself and her mate.
A pause in the dragons' conversation subsided the rumbles of their voices. The stag-shaped Steer, seeing this as the best opening she'd get to speak, begged the both of them not to eat her: to let her live and finish college.
“Oh, I'm not going to eat you—yet." She nipped at the air above the Steer then sniggered. She picked the Steer up with a paw. “Teryn, I have an early Christmas gift for you."
The brown dragon straightened up, as though putting on his best show for Santa Claus. His mate purred, prowled along the side of his flank and approached his nethers. There lay a slitted mound where she assumed his dragonhood was tucked away. The mound bulged and shuffled with his building excitement from his mate's advance.
_Can't hide that cock from your mate forever, _Blue thought.
She reached under his underbelly then uncurled the talons of her Steer-holding paw. She stuffed the stag inside of Teryn's cock-filled slit. A soft squishy sound followed an explosive tingle and a grab-a-thon of his moist internal flesh. Within his cock sheath, his cock throbbed hard. It squished the little stag to the bottom of its length as it throbbed for freedom: a freedom it did not presently receive, for the dragoness clamped her paw around the threshold of his sex, forcing his cock to buckle and grind against the small beast.
Who—amazingly—felt large inside of his sheath. The stag bulged and squirmed, the size of a large fist. His movements caused the proud erection of the dragon to thrash and squirt giddily against Blue's paw. Blue rumbled. She felt a blood rush of thrill rise to her head while the arousal behind the queenly folds of her own scaly sex excelled.
“Gr-grahh." The wings of Teryn expanded just like the vessels of his maleness, and rubbed underneath her own swelling wings. “Blue, how did you come up with such a kinky idea?"
“Oh Teryn," cooed Blue, “you don't suppose I came up with sweet jam for putting on supper?"
Another gout of musky pre cum lathered her sole. It was then that Blue gave the cock of her mate its sweet freedom. She dropped her forepaw, and at once his slimed-up dick pushed to protrude from its slit. The super thick cock of pink had a head like an arrow and a midsection that thickened significantly and a knot that lasted a considerable length. Covered in the pre arousal of a male drake, the Stag gagged and plopped into the open palm of Blue. Blue then raised the sodden cervidae above her yawning maw. A thought seemed to cross her gaze. She canted down her prey a little.
“Take pride in the fact that your last moments of living will have you drenched in the fluid of a male dragon. Take pride in that you are fit to be eaten by a dragoness, in the privacy of herself and her mate. Any last words, little morsel?" And her forked tongue flicked out to lick off and savor the jam of her mate on the stag's form.
When the tip of the dragoness' tongue fell away from the stag, no longer did a stag stand in her palm. The Steer had shifted shape, and lo: There, in her human form, was Dena: Blue's old friend from high school.
The fire-line right above the horizon narrowed to be almost imperceptible. The glow of day dimmed on scales sapphiren and brown. Teryn looked winded. Blue felt confused and uneasy. She nearly shed a tear.
Dena spoke. “Blue … please. I've known you for years. You were never meant to be destructive, self-serving, expensive … You are not the dragon … You've always been kind and gentle. You are the stag, like me."
When the wind blew the words to Blue's great ears, she convulsed. She controlled the urge to breathe flames on her former friend. Puffs of smoke fumed from her nostrils, while the twinkles of her eyes became passionate embers. “Dragons are creative, self-empowering and willing to spend for what is worth the spending. I am not Blue the stag. I am Blue the dragoness. Teryn the dragon is my mate. And you, Dena, are my prey."
And thus Blue grinned her jaws, raised Dena above them then split thumb from foreclaw. Down onto the slobbery tongue of the dragon fell the human. Blue did not let sentimental feelings hamper her content of her feast, for she was a dragon. The human was merely her food. She savored the flavor of the woman through each flick of her tongue across her deadly fangs and rippling jowls, especially since the pre seed of her mate covered the woman. Little sobs and sniffles tickled the roof and the sides of her mouth as she swished the woman about it, but Blue did not owe her pity. With great arousal from playing with her food and sampling Teryn, the dragoness swallowed her.
The little snack ping-ponged down her throat. The chasm's bends snapped her prey's vertebrae before the slopes above her stomach sphincter slid her stagnant corpse into the sluicing pit of digestive juices. _You chose to be no more than meat for my kind, _thought Blue. She slurped the sides of her snout, then with a dignified expression let loose an uncouth belch. The force of it made the cliffside weep stones.
As she eructed and her jowls slung back for a slovenly burst of saliva to fly between them, Teryn huffed. His arcing dragon shaft oozed at the tapered tip. He bobbed his head and chuffed contentedly, for his loins and his heart alike were set on him mating his lover. In comparison with other people—even other dragons—Teryn felt an unadulterated comfort with Blue on the platonic front. Only because of the fact that he was a virgin—in both dragon and human shape—did he idle when given the chance to strengthen the front of intimacy with her.
Perceptive though was Blue: And it was not hard for her to be so, especially when she herself had encouraged his cock to swell in full. Especially when she had the eyes of a dragoness—which picked up the subtle cues in his posture and the rather blatant ones in his musk. This is the closest a male will ever get to being in heat, she thought with a soft chuckle. He is who will claim me and tie with me as a dragoness. Their eyes suspended each other, soaking up the glisten of the other pair. They strode around each other for some time. Such a time, in fact, that Blue had to intervene. “I'm new to this form as well, so I'm nervous too. I'll forgive you for being nervous. What I'll not forgive you for is backing out on me now. Claim me, Teryn. Claim me knowing that we will fumble, knowing we'll feel awkward. It is a feeling that I want to share with you."
Teryn blinked with repressed astonishment. His heart galloped as hard as a herd of giant horses. He nodded with a preparatory huff of flames, then started to drift around her … until a sudden impulse brought his snout to hers.
Mingling her gaze with his, Blue accepted a kiss. When she corkscrewed her head a little to lap her lips over his and taste his tongue and trade breaths, she realized how badly she had been missing out on making love with a dragon. Their predatory maws fit like lock and key. Their throats crackled during low croons. Their mouths nestled into each other, and their noses flared to the endearing press of their muzzles. Their eyes held bow shapes. For that moment, Teryn suspended his shyness to harmonize with the frame of his lover. And knew this. And delicately cradled the knowledge.
Funnily enough, the moment his muzzle parted from hers and made split their bridges of saliva, he seemed again timid in his posture, although not nearly as much as before. She simply nudged his snout with hers goadingly, casting a instructionary glance back at her hindquarters, behind which her tail lashed with patient keenness.
No longer could he prepare. No longer could he withhold himself from her. Already could he feel his feet carrying him around her, while hers carried her around him. They spiralled gracefully and not consciously.
He stopped and stood behind his mate's hindquarters and regarded the nethers exposed by her raised tail with the same bafflement with which a stats student regards a calculus problem. Soft, supple scales of sapphire had imperceptibly slim lines separating the scales between her glutes. They made the texture of her netheral scales very akin to skin. Round her tailhole lay a donut of warm, wet pink flesh around which these scales receded. Below, the gorgeous scaled folds of her feminine sex hung. The lips of her slender virgin gape.
From her arousal her pheromonal sweetness blossomed, flaring his nose slits; and from there, instinct guided Teryn where he belonged. The muscles of his legs tensed with the shortest hesitation before a lithe pounce put him upon her backside. His foreclaws burrowing into the scaly flesh of her shoulders ... the slope of her body deepening its midway depression for his lengthy hindpaws to pedal into the flanks of her sturdy haunches ...
A burst of euphoria hit him like a gong before he even sheathed himself inside his lover—and similar hit her!
The wings of the pair flitted open and beat ticklish zephyrs against one another as the trepidation of the two deepened. He drew back his pelvis—a bone somewhat placed at his tail base—and pumped his hips and grinded the head and length of his wet shaft against her labia and tickled her vaginal folds. He had fizzled in mounting her the first time, yet she had expressed that fumbling would only be natural. They had time yet to explore their dragon anatomy, after all.
A cluster of nerves broke into tingling along her teased insides, despite his amateurship. Blue growled and eased forward more and intuitively shifted her stance and weight a bit for the ease of her mate. The investment paid well: This time Teryn thrust and planted his maleness in her depths, and Blue snarled in elation to the sudden feeling of satisfaction, fullness and warmth. Her internal walls flushed from the penetration and gripped around his member. A surge of gooey warm wetness cascaded through her insides. The arcing shaft pulled out of her pliant, shifting folds and pumped again and again. Each time she received more of his length and a stronger electrical reward of her walls around his girth. She groaned, for she could feel her silken dragon sex clamping to his length, its flesh swelling, secreting more of her nectar; and the bounces of his groin made bucks of his cock to produce squelches of rising volume.
He enjoyed claiming her as much as she enjoyed being bred. The circumference of her cunny's walls clenched on his plump cock head as well as the bulbous midsection of his dick as he lanced into her and elated with his own growly chirps. He pressed his neck to her nape and his head to her cheek. He let his lower jaw loll open to the rhythms of his feral reaming, loving every second because the copulation felt so snug and good and right. His lithe forechest swelled with what felt like a flurry of dragonfire while the lovemaking inflamed him with a tantric headrush. He felt so alive, so fulfilled, so lucid. Even as he moved upon her more clumsily than would a dragon of experience, her sweet chemical scent superimposed over her flowery and draconic natural odor, combined with the feeling of her raw musculature coursing forward and back in ecstasy to the thrashing she was by him receiving … it made his apprenticeship seem so small a matter!
She howled to the mountains, howled through the winds. His mighty frame rocked her and his claws groped her with their contractions and releases, and the sways of his body sent his weight coming and going. His forward bucks had the rings of her treacly drizzling insides slurping up more of that bulbous midsection of his shaft until her pussy lips engulfed the midsection whole; then the beginning slope of that girthy long knot had her labia agape and quivering from the stretch. She uttered a “Ruoaah" when that serpent of cock pulled away almost to the swollen leaking head before he ploughed her again. This time her mate twined his neck round hers and nipped down on the scales of hers. He pushed his loins so close to her buttocks. She trembled and ached and quaked and trilled out a roar of catharsis.
Their swishing tails clung together at the tips and erected and thrashed with hard pauses in between while his internal balls roiled and loosed his fertility. His cock flushed and let gush into her an almost solid rope of steamy dragonseed. He marked her, dashed her insides with bursts of his seed both rapturous and voluminous, rocking close to her. He kept as much of his knot pushed into her as he could. That meant his cock head grinded against her cervix as he came, as he washed her insides with his rich dragon milk. Soon, the folds of her engorged cunt soon overflowed with the medley of his ejaculation mixed with hers.
Euphoria rang through the dragoness as her mate pumped into her. Her pussy contracted and milked him of his marvelous cream and sent sweeping through the rest of her dragon form convulsions that dropped her to her belly, sprawling her out into a delicious mess. One of her wings slouched over the side of the cliff with carnal twitches of the wing-fingers.
“Teryn … Teryn ..."
"Blue ..."
So fumbled his favorite name to say from his forked tongue. That thieved from him the last of his energy. Spent and so swathed in the afterglow and the aches of their sex, he collapsed atop her, blanketing her wings with his own. Teryn had spent himself, given her all that was his. For some time he snuggled her from atop her with his flaccid dragonhood still sheathed inside her soaked, drooling depths. For some time they lay still as dolls, rustling only from the force of their great respirations of satiation. And then finally, Teryn rose and trudged back, drawing his flaccid cock out before it flicked her agape folds and then withdrew fully, breaking an extended web of his seed. They shifted their positions; and there Teryn went atop her underbelly. The two of them snuggled up, their closed eyelids making unbreakable bows of comfort.
“I'm getting a little cold," Teryn admitted after some time.
“Cold? You're a dragon." Her chuckle brought a gush of warm foggy white breath to his muzzle. He chuffed, both a bit embarrassed and appreciative of her toasty maw.
“Still … I'm not used to sleeping outside. I'd like to, but it's tough."
“Tell you what, Teryn. Why don't you shift your shape and let me tuck you somewhere special?"
His eyes brightened. His ears rose for the poise of a hare's. He curiously did so. And so all those thousands of pounds of dragon, all those grooves of scaly muscle, all those horns and claws and his tail shrank away before her very eyes, leaving upon her belly a naked man. He could be partially hidden with the cupping of her forepaw, if she tried it.
But instead, she picked him up between talon and thumb-claw. She then yawned her jaws open, let her tongue tap the palate of her maw. She placed him on the budded flesh of her tongue then let her jaws close shut, sealing him away in a cozy chamber. From above he would receive an unending supply of salivation for the rest of the night; and he seemed—from his endearing squeeze of her taste buds—to be quite okay with that.
Sleep well, my dragon, thought Blue. _Sleep well, Teryn. _The two of them drifted into sleep. That night, what flooded her were her most vivid dreams of dragon feasts, flights and fornication thus far.
