Chapter 1 - Should've Read The Contract
The beginning chapter in a series that follows a Husky who is trying to change his life, but is haunted by some previous experiences. Specifically: a contract that he signed but never fully read.
This is a ongoing series I'm writing. Just kind of a fantasy of mine, and have always wanted to write something erotic. Please don't be afraid to comment any suggestions or questions. I'll upload chapters as I finish them.
....
Alex, hand-in-hand with Laura, strides out onto the sidewalk of Main Street. The crowd begins to pour out of the historic cinema theater as the music from the movie's credits can still be heard resonating from behind.
"God. You're so lucky we walked tonight... If I had my car right now, we'd be drifting around every corner, racing all who get in our way! I mean, I could drive like they did in the movie no problem!" Alex yells off into the distance, threatening no one, not realizing that he has broken hands and ran ahead of Laura.
"Oh yeah? You do that in your car, okay? We abide all traffic laws in mine!" Laura laughingly shouts ahead to Alex. "Now get back here and walk with me before someone drifts around this corner and sucks me into their passenger seat..!" She jokingly adds.
The pair continues to walk the city night away. Laura's apartment was only a few blocks away from the theater, which is why they agreed they'd walk in the first place, but the two of them meandered around the blocks until they eventually wound up in front of Laura's place an all good 30-minutes later than any map system would display. Funny enough, Alex's place was literally across the street. Seeing as that's how the two met. A handsome looking, single man can only catch the eyes of a beautiful, also conveniently single rabbit, so many times while taking the garbage out on Tuesday nights, before a conversation is struck up.
With an awkward silence falling upon the two of them while standing on the stoop of Laura's apartment complex, neither one of them could think what to say next. This was only the pair's second date. While both young and relatively inexperienced in the dating scene, it was clear that they enjoyed one another's company, yet not comfortable enough to invite the other into their house just yet.
"It's a nice night ya' know. Wanna sit and star gaze?" Alex says, breaking the silence as one hand points to a city bench right in front of his apartment complex across the street, and the other hand pointing immediately up to the sky.
"Star gaze? With this city's light pollution!?" Laura remarks as she points with both hands arbitrarily across the sky, shooting Alex an attractively-dumb look.
"Not with that attitude, Miss." Alex retorts, mocking Laura with the same type of facial expression she shot him.
"Fine. You cross the street first though. Gotta test the waters and make sure no racecars drive by and hit us." Laura says to a fleeing Alex, who started his street-crossing run as soon as the first syllable of Laura's 'Fine' left her mouth.
As Laura and Alex occupied the bench space all night, with one of them switching positions as soon as the other became comfortable throughout the "star gazing" experience, yawns started to fill the night. Alex, determined not to fall asleep before Laura, started turning his attention to anything he could. His surroundings being the most immediate source. It was then that Alex noted, quite intriguingly, that there were no vehicles parked on either side of the street this night. Now, most of the vehicles of fellow residents were surely to be found behind each appropriate complex, sitting in the designated lots. Yet, Alex could never remember a night where there wasn't at least one vehicle utilizing the free street parking. He could see down the other blocks and notice vehicles on their streets, but sat in bewilderment as there was nothing on his street...
"What is it?" Laura asked, spooking Alex at the same time. "Haha, I'm sorry, I didn't mean to scare you. You leaned forward though, almost throwing my head out of your lap. Is everything okay?" Laura wondered.
"What? Yeah, I'm sorry about that. It's just... Did you notice how there aren't any cars parked on the street tonight? I've never seen it like this before." Alex posed to Laura.
"Can't say that I have, though, I've never really paid attention to that... I'm sure they're all probably out racing around the city anyways." Laura joked.
Just as Laura finished laughing, the sound of a loud exhaust filled the background. With both Alex and Laura turning their heads up the street to catch the sight of a black sports bike glide into view. The rider wearing all black as well. Nothing save for the headlight of the motorcycle and obnoxiously-loud exhaust announcing its presence otherwise.
Alex and Laura watch as the bike comes to a halt on the side of the street, directly in front of them. As the two of them froze in shock and confusion, there was nothing but silence as the rider of the motorcycle smoothly killed its engine, welcoming into the night the sound of Alex's and Laura's heartbeats.
The rider begins to remove his helmet with one hand, placing it on the gas tank of his bike, all while the other hand effortlessly maneuvered his jet-black leather jacket pocket to retrieve a black phone. The Doberman, as the helmet removal revealed, faintly acknowledged the couple's presence with a glance over their way, but quickly moved his eyes back to his phone.
Alex and Laura looked at each other. Out of fear neither one of them moved first. The couple just sat in awe of the Doberman in front of them. Who of which continued to occasionally look over to the couple, as if to say, "what are you looking at?"
"Hello? Can we help you?" Alex mumbled out.
It was as if it entered one ear and out the other, for the Doberman didn't even move as if he heard Alex talking.
"He..hello?" Laura stumbled out, trying to help get the attention of the rider.
Unfortunately, her inquiry shared the same fate Alex's did. Though, the two of them welcomed this encounter as a cue to end the night. Standing up together in one swift motion, the two of them ran across the street to Laura's complex's entrance.
"Get to bed. Nothing is going to happen. Just a freak coincidence is all. Maybe he's waiting for someone or something... I don't know, just, get inside. I'll text you okay?" Alex reassured Laura.
Laura didn't say anything, but embraced Alex is a deep hug. Alex instinctively planted a kiss onto Laura's head, right between her cute bunny ears. Laura eventually breaks the hug to head inside, only shutting the entrance door after meeting eyes with the Doberman across the street. For the first time is seemed like the Doberman was taking interest in what was happening. Laura glances over to Alex, and with wide eyes blinks only what Alex could interpret as a "Love you."
Alex turns around only then realizing his scenario. He now must cross the street again, past the menacing bike and rider parked outside of his complex's entrance. With a final gulp, Alex sets out on his short, intimidating journey. Convincing himself that the rider has no business with him, that he'd just walk past, make no eye contact, and close the complex door. And Alex did exactly that... But he could feel the piercing stare of the rider the whole way through.
Alex walked up the complex's stairwell to the third floor and fumbled with his keys to unlock the first door on the right in the hallway--his apartment. After letting himself in, Alex slammed the door, locking it, and falling down right where he stood. Sitting on the floor, with his back leaning against the front door, Alex tried to calm himself down. From Laura's stoop, to walking past the rider, to trying to unlock his own door, to right now, Alex's heartbeat increased exponentially.
Sitting in silence for what seemed like an eternity, Alex eventually calmed down enough that he could hear himself think.
"Go to bed..." Alex said to himself. "It's weird, but there's nothing wrong. Laura is home safe, and I'm home safe. Just text Laura and ..."
There were two strong, assertive knocks on the door that interrupted his thoughts. Alex froze. As he held his breath and stared forward off into the distance, yearning to disintegrate into nothing and slip between the floorboards, there was silence on the other side of the door.
Two more knocks. They sounded exactly the same as they did the first time, Alex noted. With images of a professional hit-man being on the other side of the door, Alex tried everything to shake what was flooding his mind, and to try to think about nothing at all. Enacting the old trick of 'if I can't hear it, then no one knocked'. Because God knows what would happen if Alex were to open his door right now.
Two more knocks. The same knocks. Curling up into a ball on the floor, Alex couldn't even produce tears of fear, that's how scared he was.
At some point though, Alex must've scared himself into unconsciousness, for he awoke laying against his front door, sun shining in through the window on the otherwise of his hallway, the rays were hitting him directly in the face.
Not wanting to even think about anything that happened last night, Alex went and showered. Freshening up for the day, he texted Laura to make sure she was okay, while trying his best not to think about any other alternative states Laura could be in. After making a quick breakfast sandwich, Alex only then noticed the time. It was 1:34 P.M. in the afternoon on Saturday... He had slept through his whole morning. He was relieved that him and Laura only agreed to go out on Friday nights, because had he missed his office job this morning, he surely would've been disciplined by his boss.
Alex realized that he hasn't heard back yet from Laura, which is a little odd considering the events of last night and the fact that it is the middle of the day, though that doesn't rule out any type of nap occurring currently over there.
"Alright, I'll stop by with a coffee, see if she's there. If she is: great! If not: a little extra caffeine never hurt this husky before." Alex said to himself.
Alex grabbed all his daily carry items on his way out the door.
"Phone, keys, wallet, watch, and crotch!" Alex shouts to himself as to not break his ritual of every morning. Enthusiastically grabbing his crotch every time, only to release an "Ow!" as per usual, noting to himself that a slightly less powerful slap is needed next time--Everyday...
Alex unlocks the door and opens it, swings himself outside into the hallway, and turns around to lock the door back up. Except this time, he pauses... There's a note attached to the door.
The note reads nothing but "Call:" with a phone number scrawled below the word.
As Alex leaves through the main entrance of his complex, he crumbles up the piece of paper that was left on his door and tosses into the garbage bin located right by the first set of entrance doors.
