Awoken by morning sickness the next morning, Kelly is unwell, out of sorts and drags Stephen with her, to consult with Dr. Kelarnis, the resident Elk doe Veterinarian. Dr. Kelarnis tells Kelly the truth of it all, then chastises her for skipping her last physical examination. Kelly confides she is with child, something which pleases the Elk, but Kelly is scared and frightened - unsure what her offspring will be - will it be human, anthropomorphic or...

After hours of talk and tears and heartbreak, the Stephen, Kelly and Jasmine fell asleep, Jasmine laying beside her mother, Kelly, her furred head resting on Kelly's belly.
Beep, Beep, Beep, Beep...
Kelly snapped awake, then her paw reached out and smacked the button on the alarm clock, before she moaned quietly and rubbed her eyes with her paws, before she suddenly began gagging and rolled off the bed, dashing to the bathroom.
Jasmine frowned, lifting her head up, then when she heard Kelly violently throwing up, she bleated sleepily and nuzzled Stephen, who mumbled and weakly swatted at Jasmine's neck.
“Too – early - “ Stephen grunted, more asleep than awake. “Go back to sleep Kelly -”
Flushing the toilet, Kelly's ears flicked back, before she shuddered and washed her muzzle out, gripping the vanity sink and coughing weakly, before rubbing her belly with her hooflets. She wouldn't show signs of the pregnancy for at least anther month yet – but already, the nausea and morning sickness tied the young Doe's stomach in knots.
Returning to the bedroom, she tapped Jasmine on the rump and the doe obediently climbed off the bed then stood quivering – her mind still fresh with the emotions, scents and her mother's cruel, violent punishments from last night.
“Jasmine - “ Kelly began, as she sat on the edge of the bed, then sighed and held her paws out. “Honey, I'm – sorry, I shouldn't have hurt you so bad, I was scared, hurt and angry. Please, my dear, sweet child – can you forgive me?”
Jasmine flicked her ears, before she timidly crept forwards and nuzzled Kelly's belly, her tail raising and flagging gently. Kelly smiled, then wrapped her arms around Jasmine's neck, cuddling the doe tenderly.
“Urf - “ Stephen gasped, as he yawned and rubbed at his eyes, then glanced at the clock. “Really...its – it's five AM Kelly, what the - “
“I want to go see Doctor Kelarnis, well, want is the wrong word – I – need to go see her, before she's off shift in two hours. You're coming with me, there's – a lot you need to hear my love...” Kelly sighed as she pulled a clean uniform from the cupboard and threw it at him, then fetched her own.
“Today is our day off – you do know what a day off is, right?”
“It's important love, now, please – get ready, you've got a long day ahead of you -”

Looking down at the clipboard, the young Elk Doe made some notes, before she put the pen in her lab coat pocket and her cloven hooves clicked quietly on the floor.
“Ah, dear Kelly, how nice to catch up again, I've been meaning to set up a lunch with you, but its breeding time here at the sanctuary, and I'm sure you and Stephen know how busy it gets!”
“Dr. Kelarnis, I know exactly what you mean!” Kelly chuckled softly, as she sat on the edge of the examination bed.
“Now, you've skipped your last physical examination, tsk!” Chastised the Elk with a light, melodious chuckle.
“I hate them,” Kelly admitted, as Dr. Kelarnis placed a thick pressure cuff around Kelly's right arm and began squeezing the bulb, tightening it.
“They're just as important for the Keepers, as they are the animals we care for, you know that, now, open up!”
Kelly rolled her eyes, as the Elk slipped a thermometer into Kelly's muzzle.
“Doctor - “ Stephen began.
Turning her head, Dr. Kelarnis looked at him, before she smiled and nodded. “Stephen, how nice to see you, been taking care of this dear, sweet Doe?”
Stephen flushed, then loosened his uniform collar, as Kelly flashed him a quick glance.
“I'm told – you're very – discrete – on certain...matters.”
Checking Kelly's blood pressure, the Elk's rightmost eyebrow raised slightly.
“Of course, patient doctor confidentiality is assured, naturally, now, what's on your mind Stephen?”
Stephen began pacing, then he turned and slumped into a chair.
“I've found out - “ He began, then trailed off, his mind overwhelmed.
Kelly removed the thermometer from her muzzle, then sighed. “Alice, I'm pregnant -”
Dr. Kelarnis' eyes widened in surprise, then a broad, friendly smile crept over her dark chocolate muzzle.
“That's – wonderful news!” Exclaimed the Elk, as she shook both Kelly's hand, then Stephen's. “How long?”
“Only knew the other month, when my cycle was late – I should have come and consulted with you, I know that, but I wasn't sure – so I did a home pregnancy test and – well – you can guess the result.”
“I couldn't be happier for you both, truly!” Squealed the Elk, as she smiled broadly.
“It, it was unexpected - “ Kelly admitted, then glanced at Stephen, who nodded in agreement. “We've always wanted children – as you know – but, well, we hadn't planned on it...so soon.”
“Its a blessing, it truly is! So, you say you're with fawn – I mean a child, sorry, old habits...”
“I know its too early to see my baby on an scanner – but is there – could we tell – if – its a fawn, or a human? I...this is hard Alice, I'm scared, truly scared – you know what happened last time...”
Alice pondered a moment, then nodded. “I can run a fetal blood work analysis, that's not a problem! You're a very – special – person, you know that, don't you?”
“It's a curse, why the God's would let me - “ Kelly began, then tears welled in her eyes.
“Hey now!” Alice calmly spoke, then handed Kelly some tissues. “I remember, of course I do, the – unfortunate incident – when you were young. This is different, a child conceived out of love, between you both, this is a beautiful thing, you'll make wonderful parents!”
Kelly sniffled, drying her eyes with the tissue, before she blew her nose and nodded.
“You know, Kelly, anything said here, stays with us. I remember your first pregnancy, with dear Jasmine, was frightening, painful and nearly killed you both – but this will be different, I'm sure.” Dr. Kelarnis told her, petting her hand tenderly.
“Why was I born this way? Able too – too conceive to a feral, or a human...why couldn't I just be – normal? Able too conceive to one of my kind, or a human?”
Scratching a the back of a dark coloured ear, Dr. Kelarnis frowned and sat on a stool, her cloven hooves clicking against the steel foot rest.
“It's incredibly rare, one in like, a hundred million, of our kind – are born like that, less than that, ever know...you think you're the first, well, doe, to have her instincts seize her, compel her against her will and self control?”
Kelly blinked, wiping away tears, as Stephen come up beside her, then placed a comforting arm over her shoulder.
“Honey, you're not – believe me. I've got journals and medical texts and reports and all sorts of things on the subject. You're not the first – when you come into your first heat, I know myself, how frightening and distressing it was!”
Alice turned about on her stool, gesturing at her computer, then the large collection of medical books on the shelves of her office.
“Our ancestors genes and instincts run deep in our people, but over thousands of years, we learned to suppress these baser instincts, control them and force our will over them. Sometimes – just sometimes – a young doe's instincts burn hotter than usual, as was your case...I know you feel ashamed, and guilt over what you done, I will not pass judgement on you, but I can understand and in a way, through my studies, empathise with you.”
“It...it was wrong, stupid, selfish and - “ Kelly wailed, clutching her paws together.
“No, no, my dear, sweet doe - “ Alice sighed, and rested a hand on Kelly's left thigh, giving what little comfort and reassurance she could. “I know you better than you probably know yourself. Yes, your instinct and such overwhelmed you, it happens, even I get more than a little...off centred...when my own cycle comes, and I get the scent of the stag Elk..we can not help it, our genes are descended from them, its hard coded into our very DNA, to respond to the stimuli and such, but its weather we give into our more primitive, animal impulses – this is what separates us from our feral brothers and sisters.”
“I bred myself to a feral...I conceived his fawn...”
“It was an accident love, nothing more, nothing less – you were young, far too young to breed actually, you know that our kind usually don't breed until we're at least twenty human years old, we're more mature – physically and mentally – at that age. You were compelled by your instincts, nothing to be ashamed of, now, let's get these blood tests happening, shall we?”
