Kendra amused herself with the new human woman whose spirit she had subsumed and corrupted. This one was easier and more susceptible than Kendra had ever imagined. Kendra claimed a dozen men and six women, using the young woman who had accepted the fur-suit from the shop. Feeling heavy and pregnant with power and the power that murdering them had brought her,

Kendra sprawled in a forest, the dead corpse of a young male laying at her hooves - his eyes wide and fearful - but glazed and unseeing, his throat torn open and his corpse ashen. His limp penis still dribbled semen, as Kendra brushed her fingers of her vulva and sighed in pleasure.

"Wonderful..." Kendra grunted.

Leaves rustled, then branches began to creak and groan, as Kendra flicked her ears and sat up, feeling her stomach filled with her latest meal as it bubbled and roiled within her. From no-where, the wind picked up and began to blow a cold, chilling breeze. Kendra snorted, climbing to her cloven hooves, as she turned about, ears twitching and pelt rippling, as a low, threatening growl come from her throat. Nearby, the wind whirled into a dervish, picking up leaves, dirt and twigs that swirled up into the sky forming a funnel that grew and widened.

"What in the hells - " Kendra growled, eyes narrowing.

Emerald lightning began to crackle and swirl within the vortex that grew larger and larger.

"What hell spawn magick is this!" Kendra snarled in rage, as she slowly clenched her paws into fists.

With a loud crack of thunder, Kendra was knocked to her back and winded. As leaves, dirt and small twigs rained down, she snarled and rolled back to her hooves, to see a strange sight before her. A European Red Deer knelt on the ground, gasping and wheezing, as he stumbled to his hooves and shook himself, his antlers gleaming for a moment then fading to the plain brown colour.

"Who are you!" Kendra snarled, as she curled her dewlaps back, enraged and frightened in equal measure. "Answer me stag, before I tear your heart out and eat it!"

Shaking, Ely lifted his head, then took a weak, gasping breath as he blinked and looked around, trying to work out where he was and how he'd gotten here.

"I was dead..." Ely murmured. "With my mother and father and..."

Without warning, Kendra charged him, her teeth sinking into his shoulder. Ely screamed and whirled, his antlers slashing as the Therian that was Kendra rolled away and tore through his hind leg muscle with the teeth.

"I'm going to enjoy torturing you..." Come the menacing growl from behind him.

Ely didn't think, he just acted, as his powerful hind hoof shot out and crashed heavily into the Whitetail's belly, crushing the air from her lungs and driving her backwards so she slammed against a tree. With a brief moment, he snorted and his magicks caused him to glow emerald, as he healed the wounds instantly, then turned to face the creature who had attacked him.

"Therian...I know your stink a thousand yards out - " Ely snarled, as he lowered his head, the sharp antlers gleaming.

"Who are you...No, never-mind...you'll make an excellent creature to possess..."

Kendra's paws shot out, and Ely grunted as eldritch magicks, black and vile lanced over his body. He shuddered then with a stomp of his hoof, he shattered the Therian's magicks and stood resolute and angry, glaring at her.

"You would try such feeble magicks on one such as I?" Ely roared, his voice filled with power and defiance. "Greater than you have tried you insignificant little fawn!"

"Such strength and power..." Snarled Kendra, as she paced around Ely, sizing him up. "Why should we fight Stag? I can see you're in the prime of your life...Why should we fight? When there are...much more pleasurable things we could do..."

"You think I'd dare mate with a creature such as you?" Ely laughed contemptuously, not even bothering to flick an ear. "You are a parasite - once, your soul might have been redeemable Kendra! I know what you once were - I can see your memories you fight to suppress and hide! No, now? That Doe that used to live inside you? She is gone forever - her soul will live in eternal torment because of what you have done!"

"She was weak!" Kendra screamed. "She refused to let me control her, embrace our true nature - learn to hunt and murder and take that which was ours! Humans and animals alike were our prey! Fit only to feed upon, or those precious few - we would mate with them, if they pleased us - we would turn them..."

"Exactly what I'd expect from a Therian!" Ely roared at her, making her visibly flinch beneath his power.

"You are a parasite, a creature that exists purely out of hatred, malice and spite! You could have lived together, had long, happy lives - but no - you corrupted that Doe, turned her heart evil and black! Then you got punished - or so those who enforced that prison upon you believed... I can see the human you inhabit Kendra, I know what you've done to her spirit - how you've consumed her, body and soul, to enrich and revitalise your own empty husk!"

"You know nothing about me!" Kendra screamed at him, her ears pinned.

"I said, I can read you like an open book - I know what turned your heart to darkness, and yes, in many ways - you were justified Kendra - you sought revenge against those who murdered your people and tortured you! What they done to a sweet, innocent young Therian? No creature should suffer so!"

"NO!" Kendra screamed.

As she clutched her paws to her head, then dropped to her knees and screamed again and again, as Ely stood in her mind, flicking through her memories like a miser with his riches. Picking up random memories, trailing them through his fingers and letting them go again.

"You sough revenge - justified and warranted!" Ely told her. "Yet it did not stop there, did it? You fed on the power it gave you, the satisfaction of feeling them broken and sobbing before you! Pleading for their miserable, misbegotten lives - as you had once pleaded with them..."

"Stop it!" Kendra screamed, tears sliding down her muzzle.

"No, I will not - face the truth Therian! You grew strong, poisoning and twisting the Doe's mind and heart! You told her all humans were like those who tortured and murdered you! She was scared, frightened, alone - all alone - and you took advantage of her!"

"I did not!" Kendra wailed, before she leapt to her feet, then her claws lashed out at Ely.

He had his head snapped to the side, three deep slashes gouged in his muzzle, before he looked at her with a look of pity and remorse, before, ,again, his magicks healed the wound instantly and he flexed his jaw experimentally.

"Are you done?" Ely asked patiently, raising an eyebrow.

"You don't know what they done...how they hurt me, tortured me for months..."

"I know exactly what they did - do you not listen? I can see everything that was done to you, and yes, I grieve for you - the sad, pitiful angry creature you are, you should be beneath contempt! You are not alive, you exist solely by stealing the life force of others! You take their bodies - creatively I might add - preying on their weakness, their vulnerabilities, then when they don this...whatever that silly costume is - you take them...don't you?"

"Its my right - humans are - " Kendra wailed. "They..."

"No, its not your right..." Ely sighed sadly. "You should have died about two centuries ago Kendra - when they murdered you! Yes, you suffered, yes, you were cruelly mistreated and abused and worse! I do not deny that - but those who did that are long but dust! Why continue this mindless cruelty and hatred? Those who took your life died at your paws - or feared until the end of their days - you would hunt them down!"

Ely shook his head and sighed softly.

"Once, you could have been - well - forgiven is the wrong word. A Therian who gives into the darkness such as you...abandons their mutual nature and turns to evil, depravity and cruelty...there is no forgiveness..."

Ely screamed, as she snarled and unleashed eldritch lightning from her fingers into him, that made him buckle and scream in agony. She poured everything into it; her anger, her fear, her hatred - all of it until Ely glowed and writhed helplessly on the ground, powerless in the merciless tendrils of energies that seized him. Smoke startled to curl from him in places, as the magicks burned through fur and flesh - until Ely was certain he'd surely die from the unspeakable agony.

"Foolish Stag!" Kendra snarled, as she walked over, lowering her hands and feeling the power flow through her as she had exerted much of her own reserves to torture Ely for his foolish pride.

Ely gasped and shuddered, tears soaking his muzzle as his body shuddered with the nerve endings over-firing randomly, leaving him panting and convulsing helplessly.

"I will take you stag...I will claim you body, your mind _and_your magicks! They will serve me, and I shall truly have my revenge upon the pitiful humans! With your powers, shall I know no fear, no threat to my person and no-one will dare..."

Ely stood up, shaking and shuddering, before he shook his head at her and snorted weakly. "No, you will not..."

"You...dare..." Kendra snarled, her dewlaps curling back.

"I do more than dare..." Ely sighed.

As he stepped towards her, muttering something as the emerald runes on his body burst into incandescence as he swept his left paws against her chest - then as Kendra screamed - through her and out the other side. Kendra felt something torn from her, and she staggered then fell to her knees, as Ely gripped a ghostly apparition in his left paw, gripping it by the throat as he walked back to face her, the spectral form choking and clawing helplessly in his merciless grip.

"Know what this is?" Ely stared at her, but his eyes filled with tears - he couldn't help it.

"_No!"_Kendra screamed.

She stared at her paws, the costume turning brittle with age. It began to quiver, then in the gentle breeze, the faux fur crumbled to dust and blew away, the creature that was Kendra staring as a ghost-like image appeared in its place.

Staring at the costume's forearms, she saw it too turn yellow and brittle, crumbling away and revealing more of the translucent, ghost-like form.

"No, please...save me!" Kendra shrieked in agony and terror. "I'll do anything, anything..."

Ely continued crying, watching it age and crumble away to dust.

"I'm sorry little one..." Ely wept, as he watched her.

"No, please..." Kendra wailed, her forearms crumbling away to fine powder.

"It is...too late for you, Therian..." Ely sobbed. "If I had of gotten to you centuries ago...maybe, I might have saved you..."

Kendra screamed, then dropped to her knees, then onto her belly, writhing as the power tore her form apart, shattering the magick that had kept her alive for two centuries. Soon, all that was left was the headpiece on the ground, that sat there, screaming silently - for it no longer had vocal cords with which to cry out.

" I am truly sorry..." Ely sighed, as he stood up in his anthromorph form, then placed one cloven hoof against the headpiece and shattered it, the remnants crumbling into a harmless powder that the wind dispersed.

Ely dropped to his knees, sobbing heart-brokenly for a soul he couldn't save. Either the young Doe whom the Therian had turned into its first victim, or the last one - the human who lay on the ground, deceased.

"Why?" Ely screamed, raising his paws to the heavens. "Why did you force me to come back? I was happy! You understand me? I was at peace, for the first time in centuries! With my father and mother, people I loved! Why did you make me do this! Answer me!"

Ely screamed and raged at the uncaring sky, before he felt the fur on his body prickle as if charged with static. Shimmering into existence before him, a powerful stag, greater than he himself, with blinding white fur appeared. His antlers gleamed like silver, as the weight of ages emanated from this enigmatic stag, his eyes filled with knowledge and wisdom beyond time itself.

"My Lord Cerunnos!" Ely stammered, then dropped to one knee, extending the other out and laying his head along it in a formal bow.

A voice that seemed to come from everywhere, although the stag did not speak, come to Ely.

"Arise, child - It was I, who brought you back from the Summer Lands. I know it is not as you would have wished, for this, I pray you will one day find it within your heart to forgive me. I required a champion, in your noble sacrifice in that place, to protect the two Therian's, was such a champion born. You have restored the balance my child, for this, you have my blessing. Speak your hearts wish, and so mote it be!"

"Release me Lord Cerunnos!" Ely wept, his head still bowed as he trembled. "My time on this realm was done, I beg most humbly, to be freed of this burden, to return to the Summer-lands, and those that I love, if it pleases you my Lord, this is my request."

"As it is spoken, so mote it be..."

Ely gasped, then fell lifeless to the forest ground, a single tear of thanks sliding down his muzzle, as Lord Cerunnos flickered and vanished carrying Ely's soul back to the Summer-lands and his rightful rest.
