A dragon's tail
It not an easy life being a dragon. Ok you get to fly around and breath fire balls and be any colour under over or on the rainbow but there are also down sides, like eating; sheep are easy to catch but the farmers hate you for it, why? Because you took one, ONE! Sheep from them, well ok but like it was just one you got like 100 more I'm only taking one from you so you've still got loads left over its not like I'm taking one every hour.
The other thing is living in caves or cold places it does have it down sides like only one way for the wind to come in which in winter is a real pain, the other thing too is when some brave knight comes up to kill you the bones are not very nice and the meat is ok but after a while it does begin to smell and that's not very nice if friends come round, there bones aren't nice to clean up when friends are there.
I'm a very nice dragon I'm about 5'4 not very tall and I'm a male, I'm very colourful I have beautiful sky blue scales that hide me in the sky for camouflage, my name is unknown it was never diced when I was born, I like to call my self blue because my scales are like the blue sky I'm a very rare dragon because I can change my blue colour, I can be dark afternoon sky colour or I can be very light blue and I can be dark for night time it's great.
My cave is very nice high atop on the mountains it is very small but its nice, no nosey neighbours or strange creatures that can crawl on you and bite or snakes or bats biting ones that is the only ones here are fruit bats, it is 6'0 tall now I like that because I'm 5'4 so there is enough head room for me and my friends when they show, the one thing I don't have and that is wings, they where burnt off when I was young when, my mum and dad where killed off by hunters, I was saved by a nice person a shire horse by the name of David, he was kind and saved me from death he took me away and I watched as my family died from the fire, he watched and said I will look after you, and he did for 20 years, another great thing is that dragons can live for ages I'm now only just turning 50 but I look like a 10 year old, David found me this place in the mountains, he comes here every day too make sure I'm ok, safe and well.
The other thing with dragons is they love shiny things anything that shines they like it, it is in all dragons you can have it removed but that is a nasty process and it hurts so I stay with it, David brings me shiny things to look at, I look at them for hours and then put them in my shiny pile, dragons love to have a pile of shiny stuff I'm tidy but sometimes I will just chuck it into the wrong pile and that's where David comes in, he cleans and look after me I can look after my self but David is a friend of dragons helping them is what he dose.
He may look like a 19 year old shire horse but he is very old even older then me! He's age is unknown he says I'm 19 and always will be, we like to just sit on the cave front and look over the village and the towns, then watch the sun set and I curl up into a ball and sleep on my pile of shiny things like dragons do.
I have these dreams that I have had since I was born, it is a strange place it is beautiful and green, I think it is a forest David has said its sounds like a forest it is very nice and clam the trees blow in the wind and then I hear this singing it is very nice like my mum's but more younger and softer, it calls to me but I can't see where it is coming from then it fades away and I wake up, David has said this is strange dream but its just a dream but its one I have every night it is true, or just a dream I like?
I've always wanted to fly but I can't my wings are just a tattered remains they are healed but they can't support my weight, I flap like mad but I only get off the ground an inch before I fall down tried, I sigh and sing a sad song on the guitar, another great thing about dragons is they love to read David is always leaving his books here, one I found was on guitars and I read it, I then remembered David had brought up a guitar and played it not very well but he was getting better all the time, so I started to play and played well I read the book and by the next day I knew it off by heart but my songs are sad, David think their great I like them but they are one hit wonders I sing them and the forget them because I'm happy again, then one day as I play I herd the voice from my dreams coming from the forest of illusion's David said it was my head but then he herd it too, we went to integrate by walking there David is very good at walking I'm good too but it hurts, dragon's are suppose to fly but I have to walk, although David did make me some shoes for me to wear when it I did walk out side the cave, they are made of leather and are brown but they fit fine, we walked to the forest the voice getting loader and loader.
As I went in David followed on my back as he is very old and walking tried him out or he's just lazy! I know he would leave me if I said that but only for a few days, we wondered into the forest and looked but the voice was gone nowhere nothing maybe it was an illusion made by the forest, then David herd some bushes rustle he grabbed his sword if it was hunters who'd set a trap, but out steeped a very nice looking dragon, the same height as me but different colours, she was green like the forest, David put his sword down and bowed, this is the way to get dragon to like/trust you, I didn't know what to do so I just followed David and bowed, then she spoke, I'm very please to meet two gentlemen in my forest David stood up and spoke; your forest? Yes my forest, it is very nice and I have been looking after it for ages since I was young, what is your name my dragoness? My name is sprit of the forest or tree as its more shorter, I kept my position and she looked over at me; my, my you are a very nice dragon please un-bow and let me see you, I looked over to David he then moved up so I did this too; hi err, I'm blue nice to meet you tree, I held my hand to hers, shy are we? I nodded and she grabbed my hand and then started to moan, I see you have had a bad start but was looked after by a nice person David, oh your wings they are no more? I nodded again not knowing what to say or what to do my mouth was dry and I was like a leaf in winter all shaky and nervous, she then let go of my hand and I nearly fainted, then she said some words and I felt strange my back began to twitch and I felt my wings grow and grow I arched my back not knowing this pain I roared in pain David just watched not doing anything, she then touched me and I felt limp and very sleepy I closed my eyes and herd the song in my ears as I drifted off to sleep.
When I awoke I herd David and tree talking I tried to get up but my legs where weak and rubbery, I spoke what did you do? I managed to splutter out, nothing just healing you, healing? If that's what it feels like then I'm never going to hurt myself! I then herd a flapping noise coming from me? I looked behind me and there where a set of new and very nice light sky blue wings! I flapped them and started to take off then I fell my body was still weak from the healing, here take this it will give you strength, she gave me a cup of water or I thought it was water but it was blood rams blood, I spit it out but then I stared to drink more wanting more and then my strength grew I stood up and showed my new body off.
I was healed my wings flapped I looked like a dragon I flew up into the sky my wings changed to the colour of the sky and I tried them out, having never flied before I just thought and tried it, in the mean time David and tree where up in the trees watching me fly and looking on.
I felt great the sky was very nice clouds felt like cotton, my wings flapped and I felt great I flow around for ages but then I got tried then I had a problem how do I land? I thought just stop flapping and thought that I would land or the ground will come to me, as I plummeted I thought that ground looks hard and I'm heading to it not the other way round! I tried to flap but I was out of time I braced my self for impart! Nothing when I opened my eyes there was David and tree flying, she was very nice I looked and wondered where she was taking me, she took me home! Of all the places to take she takes me home, I sighed and went into my cave and I lied on my bed of shiny things David came in and so did tree she was 6'0 so the cave was ok for her, (just) I hissed though as she got near my shiny things! David hit me on the head and said NO! I whimpered and then said sorry and offered her a seat next to my shiny things, she nodded and sat on then next to me, my tail flicked and hers did the same our tails meet and we looked at each other and we both blushed, David yawned, well I better be off he waved me good bye and the dragoness too before teleporting away, leaving me with tree.
It was a nice night so tree was looking out at the night sky, it was very nice a blue with purple and yellow with a hint of orange, as I lie on my shiny things I herd the voice again it was tree I looked over and herd her signing, it was beautiful; that was beautiful, she blushed thanks it just a song I sing to make the trees and plants happy I do it every night, well it makes me happy to, she blushed, dose it? In the morning I woke up and stretched a bit to much though, as I'd forgotten about my wings and they scrapped on the roof I then looked and noticed them, oh yeah I went out side and stretched it felt good my wings fully stretched looked great, it was a very nice morning it was beautiful, I yawned and saw a person walking up to the cave carrying two dead sheep, I flew down and it was David, I offered him a lift but he said no and walked up the mountains with ease, it was hard going but David knew where to be and where to put his feet as he done this time after time, as he reached the cave tree was making a fire and then she spotted me and David I then hid behind David as I was terrified of fires! David then took the fire and made it safe by putting a circle of rocks around it, tree cooked the meat and offered me some, I ate my sheep and said no I like raw meat, she sighed as she went back to the fire, I didn't sit near the fire but I slowly moved to it as it was warm and nice, I sat by it knowing it was safe because David had made it safe, I then cooked a bit of sheep and tasted it, it was great I started to cook the whole sheep and I was soon full much more then with raw sheep.
David then left us alone again, tree was very friendly she was great and it was nice to have someone to talk too because I was all alone some days waiting for David to get back, she was kind and nice all rolled into one and I loved that.
So what do you do for fun around here? Tree was very curios on what I did, err not a lot I use to just look at my shiny things and then clean them or get rid of the non shiny ones, oh well now you have wings do you fancy a fly? Sure! I swooped around testing my wings she just hovered under me making sure I didn't crash and looking for hunters as we where near the village and they didn't like dragons, some did others didn't but we stayed away from there I flew around the clouds and swooped it was great, I went high into the sky and swooped down but I didn't see tree and crashed into her with a bump! We fell my wings flapping and hers not I got off of her but she couldn't recover! I swooped down fast and grabbed her I then landed in the forest I put her down, she dusted herself off, that was not very nice she said as she checked herself over, only a few bumps but a big cut on her back, looking at it I climbed onto her and started to lick the blood dragons have healing powers in there saliva, I licked again she purred and I then felt something push under me onto my belly.

For the next few mouths tree's belly grow in size and I was reading book on parenting because I was going to be a dad, the nest was made big enough for three or more eggs and there was even enough room for tree I also started to sell my shiny things to pay for food loads of sheep to keep us and the baby's happy, I paid with a big bag of gold coins David brought me a herd of 50 sheep all waiting to lamb, so it would go up to 100 or more, it was all going great, one night I lie on tree's belly and could hear the eggs moving in her waiting, she was purring like mad from any touching and she was ready to be a mother David ask her things and she answered, I too was ready.
It seemed like mouths pasted and all the time the eggs where growing and getting ready for life, it was very easy preparing from the birth but having them was the hard part, then after 7 mouths tree moaned and groaned, she was in labour (the birth part not the government) she gave a moan and let out an egg it was wet and slimy but it was blue with green spots, then she pushed out another one David was there looking on I was there too purring with tree to make her happy, after 4 long hours she gave one more push and out popped the final egg it was green with blue spots, and there they where three eggs all now warm and cosy in the nest David looked over them and they where fine, healthy happy and warm.
The next few mouths went by with ease it was great taking turns to look after the eggs I did the night while tree did the morning, all we did was sit/lay on the eggs to keep them warm and happy, we also told story's to them even though they where old dragon tails they seemed to like them, David was there for us if we needed anything, he would come and go the main thing was he was helping and then the day came the eggs started to hatch!
I awoke to cracking noise under me I looked and the eggs where cracking I called to tree she woke up too and looked we kissed as our young hatched from there eggs, David soon arrived as the first egg cracked open to show a very nice blue coloured baby it churred at me, and then another egg cracked and hatched this was the same colour as tree they both sniffed each over and purred, the third one though it didn't move it was still it had cracked but there was no movement, so David had a look he picked it up and slowly broke away the shell in there was a very nice purple dragon it was a combined colours from me being blue and tree being green it awoke from its sleep and churred and David he put it down with it siblings it purred as it meet them it was over the birth and hatching was over now comes parenthood!
The youngsters all purred happily at me and mum tree David then brought up the first sheep from the herd and a lamb for the youngsters they sniffed and purred as they tucked in me and tree tucked into a sheep tree ate more as she needed the strength after all this, the youngsters then after finishing there lamb played with each over they tumbled on top of each other purred and growling I watched them play, but David just sat outside watching the day I then noticed purple who we'd named purple was moving to David I watched as he went onto all fours and pounced David and pulled at his Maine to which David plucked him off and started to stoke him he purred like mad and went to sleep in David's lap, he then teleported into the nest and put purple in the nest I looked on as Joey (the blue dragon) yawned and started to sleep on the cave floor, the girl who tree had named leaf climbed into the nest and snuggled up to purple and went to sleep too I then picked Joey up and put him in the nest too they slept like baby's David watched them sleep as I and tree went to sleep as well.
It was morning when I awoke a looked in the nest the youngsters where still sleeping so I went out side and stretched then I herd a little purr come from behind me it was purple he then opened his mouth and spoke he said Dada! I was so happy then he then said where is David? I said gone to get food he'll be here soon don't worry, but he didn't show the sheep and lambs we ate where now low in numbers the youngsters now more hungry then ever wanted food! They played but where very hungry the thing is dragon's can't make milk, and they youngsters rely on meat, they ate like mad there was not a lot left for us so tree went out to find the food for us.
Tree came back one day with no meat but a very big wound on her wing and side a hunter had hit her with a spear the youngsters cried but she comforted them then I noticed purple was missing and a note written in stones it read have gone to find David be back later, my heart sank if he was caught he'd be kept as a pet but I couldn't leave tree was hurt and so I stayed with her.
I week had passed and there was no sign of purple he was gone I sang sad songs on my guitar and tree sang her sleep tight little one song, then in the distance I spotted a figure on the cliff and there in his hands was purple I looked more but there was a sad face on David, he climbed up and then entered not saying a word he then placed a limp and lifeless dragon on the nest purple had been caught and killed David found him in the river tree cried the night away I too cried and so did the kids Joey and leaf David then said some words to which tree joined in with and so did leaf and Joey I joined in and then David glowed I shielded my eyes and then David went limp and purple moved I looked as he got up and purred at me tree hugged him and so did I leaf and Joey played with there now alive brother, I then checked on David he was limp but alive he had given his life for us I picked him up and took him out side to warm up he soon moved and got up, he then came in and said some words, look after him he's very curious and I must leave you now, I will not be gone just going to help other dragon's he walked out and purple followed he said David wait! David turned and looked take me with you I want to be like you David got down on his knee and said no I'm very old and you need to look after your mum and dad plus I live very dangerous life besides your mum and dad need you I've saved you once I don't want to do it again, purple sighed and nodded heading back to his siblings David walked out and teleported away.
We never saw David again after that but his sprit lived on in the cave the youngsters grew up and left leaf went off and found her own dragon and are very happy in Greece, Joey went off and is now working in a bar in the UK very nice too as for purple? He stayed with us never leaving looking after us well into our late 2000's he soon left though to find David and thank him or to be with him as he given him a second chance, as for me blue and tree? We loved each over and live in a bigger cave now that we are bigger then we where years ago, but we still look back on the memory's we had and sigh, and laugh then one thing I love though? Is that we still love each over dragon's mate then go leave the work for the female, but I stayed and our love is very strong, oh remember purple? He found David in a bar and he is now David's dragon he looks after the old shire horse plus he's a feral dragon very small and can fly he fits in David coat pocket with ease and he likes it in there, and they come to visit us every year on there hatch day.
