Walking The distance - Part 2 1/2 teaser.
Just a teaser for ya'll. =3 Working on a big segment tomorrow, Thursday, I'll make a big post then. =)
Really working on getting things solid, never meant for myself to focus on this one so much lol. Gotta get character ironed out.
"You moved out because of our fighting?" Leo's mother asked, a hurt look almost pushing Leo to tears. "No, no, it was because you would never understand me." Is what he wanted to say, but he decided to take a different route. "You two fight all the time, and I'm old enough to handle my own. Just, please, respect my decision to move on." "You coulda picked a better decision...." His father said, casting a sour glance to Debbie. "Hey! Enough, you guys need to leave, this is my choice and I'm not changing it!" Leo found himself standing, his hands balled into fists. His father stood as well, still taller than Leo his fur bristling as his eyes bore into him. They stood for a moment, Leo held his ground against the taller canine. "Fine, were leaving, and don't expect us to bail you out of anything." "Fine, not like I'll end up like you." With that he turned away and walked back downstairs, hearing some swearing and a door slam.
Leo fell asleep immediately when he hit the bed, his mind pulling him into the world of his dreams. Fighting, struggle, then freedom. He found himself at some sort of school, larger so probably a college. A big center courtyard sprawled before him, people wandering around as music filled the air. It felt like a big party, but not so cramped. He glanced around, his attention being drawn to a certain canine. A wolf, mostly grey with green eyes staring back at him. His heart leapt, warmth filling his entire body. Jess strode across the campus, a smile spreading across his face as he moved to hug Leo. They embraced each other, Leo could feel the warmth against him. Everything was so real, the feel of Jess's body, his clothing, he couldn't understand it. They walked around the courtyard for awhile, basking in the music and peacefulness of it all. Soon, Leo was laying on the grass, Jess nestled against his chest, Leo's arms wound around his abdomen. "Having fun?" Jess blurted out. "The most in a long time." Silence followed. Leo couldn't get enough of this, his arms around Jess as they both laid together.
Leo opened his eyes, darkness permeating his room. He sighed, moving his arm through his sheets and meeting nothing. No resistance, no other body. He never felt this close to being completely hopeless. The dream fresh in his mind, he replayed it in his head until he fell into a restless sleep.
Two more days of finals and then Jess was free, free form the constant ring of a bell, notebooks and pencils. He knew he would be at it again in college, but that wasn't for awhile. He wanted to enjoy his summer. His main goal was to get to see Leo at least once, then formulate a plan to be together. That required him to get money, and somehow gets his parents to warm to the idea of a road trip, and seeing another guy.
The clock, such an evil yet necessary item. It controls our very waking lives, its arms moving across its face as its onslaught on the future continues. Jess stared at it intently, he wanted to get the hell out of this place. Finally, the largest arm swung its divine gaze over the top of the face, with its partner overseeing the symbol of three. The bell, following suit rang its shrill cry of freedom throughout the building.
Jess thought he made a new record, his mother hadn't even pulled up to get him yet when he got the curb. When he jumped into the vehicle her ears were not perked the same way, nor was he body language the same as the regular day. Jess waited to find out what was wrong. "Hey ma." He closed the door, laying an arm against it. "Hey, how was school?" "Good." "You're really pushing to graduate aren't you?" they both chuckled. "Of course, I want summer to finally get here." She gave him a quick glance. "Any plans for this summer?" He didn't like all these questions, they always got closer to secrets. "I wanna get a job. I need some spending money and I need it for college so....why not." He shrugged as they both chuckled. "Good, just making sure. I was grabbing your laundry and glanced at the notebook you had. I just want to make sure your up to it. Jess's heart sunk, good thing he was looking out the window as his eyes widened. What else did she get from it? She said she just glanced, maybe she didn't gather much. His mind was racing through the possibilities. "Yeah, heh." Is all he could come up with. His heart beat remained a steady high until it stopped at the next words. "So, who's Leo?"
