History of a Sex Casual World

A look into a world where sex is publicly accepted and displayed, including a small history and analysis of how society and the act of sex itself has changed to match.
History of a Sex Casual World
Among the many universes, among the many planets, there are many different types of societies. Some are peaceful, others violent. Some are familial, some political. Many move towards great feats of science while others hold fast to longstanding religious foundations. And some have very specific quirks about them that make them quite unique.
In the nation of Canoon, on a planet unnamed by its people except as simply "Earth", the people developed a unique quirk. Some postulate it as an eventual extension of many society patterns, but whatever the case may be, it exists here now.
This quirk is that the concept of mating and sexual interaction progressed to an accepted part of everyday life. Not in a matter of that it is common and known and that people discuss it, but to the point that sex for pleasure is common enough to be found in open public.
The exact time this became a social norm is hard to pin down. Some time after their rise of democracy, sexual expression became a hot subject. As old generations passed and new generations brought in new views, those expressions became more and more public, including full protection for transgender and non-binary peoples as well as all sexualities.
The first first change to public sexual norms, however, came with the removal of required clothing in public spaces. Both men and woman could go out without any clothing at all, though private areas could still require clothing or where such clothing was needed for sanitary reasons. Over the course of several decades, the acceptance of public nudity grew until it was commonplace, even in some traditional religious organizations.
Then, the question began to arise of why sexual acts were also not allowed in public if nudity was now common. And so, roughly 60 years after clothing laws were redacted, there was a mighty shift in the laws regarding the "public lewdness." Public sexual contact, as long as it is consensual, was permitted on the condition of no interference with the public.
And, after another hundred years, we find ourselves in the present as Canoon is. In that period, the greatest changes were in policies of how such acts where done and many traditions around it. Specifically, two items took on a greater expectation in society: consent and health.
Throughout the centuries, consensual sex was always required by law. And in this society, this still holds true, but to a greater extent. Rape initially took a slight rise in the society with the change, but as it settled in, incidents dwindled quite rapidly. No one is sure why.
Any sexual content must first be initiated by consent. Some places, such as the Black Parks which will be explained later, include implied consent under certain circumstances by simply being in the location, but in general areas it must be verbally given. And most of the whole of society abides by this rule.
Pedophilia remained a problem for many years, especially as upcoming generations began to follow these norms at younger ages. However, for the protection of the children, it was still held that sexual contact with minors under the age of consent, which was now determined by development rather than set ages, was forbidden. It was accepted, however, that pedophilia was a mental state, and so it became accepted to treat it as a condition. As clinics opened for helping them, the rate took a decline in the later years.
Health became something else to take sharp changes over the years. Sexually transmitted infections (STIs) started to crop up in numerous highly-populated regions where sex quickly became popular. With the changes progressing as they were, medical research shifted to resarch both for cures and prevention. It did not take more than a few decades for most STIs to become clinically eradicated.
A few still remained, though, and very few wished to take the risk. So, preventative measures became standard from puberty. Most could be done with traditional vaccines, and others with regular treatments, all covered by insurance as a regular health item.
Birth control began to become more friendly. Rather than being an exception, it became the norm. Both males and females in high school were started on medication to inhibit childbirth, so under most circumstances couples trying to conceive would need to plan it out rather than taking chances.
Of course, birth control was not considered a requirement, so there were still some unexpected pregnancies that occurred, especially in the first few years. To try and ease as much of the burden as they could, prices and process for adoption dropped dramatically. In the society, most children were found families by adoption, and it wasn't uncommon to see households of numerous species living happily together. Abortions also saw an increase, but the legalities of that remain under contention today.
Speaking of families, the focus of families took a shift as the focus began to move away from sex. Religious couples, and couples in general, found realization that they did not have to choose permanent mates based on sexual appeal. The rate of divorce has dropped to almost 0. Though that could also be because in the shift, many couples choose to simply stay together romantically without marriage; marriage rates have dropped by almost half in the period.
And now, we shall discuss how sex itself has been changed by this greater appeal in public. For one, kinks have taken on a bit more of a casual meaning. Since sex is so commonplace, kinks are often seen in public as well, with bondage gear, toys, and lesser items falling to the same acceptance of sexuality and contact. Orgies, while not openly common, became more accepted as general parties, and now often are held along with birthdays, pool parties, and on rarer occasions family reunions.
There were, however, several kinks that were still considered too extreme for society. Toilet play had the obvious health risks involved. Some people, despite the acceptance of public acts, still enjoyed the thrill of lack of consent. And as kinks developed, some more animalistic kinks also began to grow. Some began to experiment with kinks some considered hedonistic, and left still-consenting participants in the hospital or dead.
At first, they held to manslaughter laws for these incidents. But what happened when the person agreed, knowing fully that they would be injured or worse. Society ultimately decided that these kinks too would be allowed, but in a MUCH more controlled fashion.
Areas of cities or counties were set up that became known as the Black Parks. These were secluded areas where the general public could not pry, and they were closely monitored for those coming and going. Registration forms were required to enter, and all participants in the parks had to wear identification for what kinks they were open to doing.
Some disliked these regions. Other more logical people claimed it was a good outlet for those who had the instincts and, in the extreme cases, could help with population control. Either way, the parks took off with some minor popularity, but still remained an fringe group.
And so, this is Canoon. A place much like ours, but so much different because of this one shift. The stories are many and varied. Take a step in, and spend a day in a Sex Casual World.
