Hunger of the Inugami
This was meant for a story contest that passed a while back, but I wanted something more supernatural and insidious. Spirits come in all shapes and sizes.
Before Hikaru and I moved here back March, I would’ve said I didn’t have any superstitions at all. Psychics are con artists fleecing grieving people for a living, ghost stories are for tourists and edgy teenagers, and Santa Claus was made up to keep kids in line before Christmas. I still believe all that, but there are things I never knew about, things I don’t think can be explained without taking a look back at ancient traditions. And one of those things has lived with us for the last three months.
Now, before you can understand what kind of haunting we’ve gone through, you need to know some things about our family. There are three of us here, at least three normal ones. There’s my boyfriend Hikaru, a smooth, sly little queen with a lithe body and a stinging wit. I met him in college, just dancing at a frat party without a care in the world. He’s my princess, and he knows it too, which means he sometimes throws hissy fits over little things like dirt and spiders, but I think it’s cute; I get to be his white knight, rushing in to save him while he swoons in my arms.
I’ve got the figure for a knight, too; six foot three, 210 pounds, thick brown hair and beard, bushy chest hair adding some scruff to my chest. When people see us on the street (before we moved here, I mean), they think we might be father and son, and in a way that’s true; I handle the heavy lifting, fixing stuff, and planning ahead, while he’s better with people and usually smarter than me. He just needs help focusing sometimes without getting worked up.
The third member of our household is our dog, Ren, a Tosa Inu he had back home. He was staying with Hikaru’s parents, since our apartment wouldn’t let us have big dogs, and Ren’s over a hundred pounds. I’d never heard of that breed before, but Hikaru told me they were crosses between dogs from Shikoku and European giant breeds like Mastiffs and Great Danes. Kind of like the babies we’d have together if we could. He has a short, red coat and a big, wrinkly head.
You might be wondering why I’m mentioning the dog like he’s another roommate of ours, and that’s because we treat him as an equal now, thanks to our experiences. It happened like this; Hikaru’s family is pretty well off, since his father is on the board of a huge, Japanese clothing store chain. He went to college to explore new things, and I guess he liked me best of the things he found because he insisted I move in with him. We lived together in a luxury apartment for a year and a half, waiting until Hikaru graduated to find our own bigger place. Then, last January, Hikaru got a phone call from his mom; his grandfather had died suddenly in his home, of a heart attack.
Hikaru cried in my arms that night, as I stroked his soft hair and tried to comfort him. He didn’t see his grandfather much, because he was a stern man and just wanted to be left alone by everybody. But he had fond memories of playing with his grandfather when he was younger and being taught about all kinds of stories and magic tricks. He told me about them for hours, sobbing and sniffling while I gave him water and tissues so he could get it all out. The funeral was three days from now, but his family didn’t want me there; his mother was OK with us, but some of his uncles and cousins felt he was too girly, and he needed to toughen up. They thought him being so feminine was shameful; they couldn’t know about me. So, I helped him pack his bags and sent him down to New Orleans, where he’d lived.
Four days later, I got a phone call from Hikaru. “Hey, hon. How was the funeral? Everything alright?” He gave me a disgruntled sigh over the phone, one he must have been holding in just for me.
“Ugh, fine. Exceptionally long and quiet. All those bells and incense, and not one tear for him at all. Honestly, I love them, but a lot of this stuff is eerie. But, yeah, everyone’s gonna miss him, even if he didn’t feel the same way about us.”
“Yeah… I don’t know what to say about that…”
“Well, don’t worry, hon, neither does anyone else here. But I have something to tell you. I’m staying here, at least for a little while. I’ll send you a ticket so you can bring our stuff next weekend, OK?”
“Wait… what? Why? This is sudden, even for you.”
“Well, we’ve wanted a bigger place for a while, and now we’ve got one, in the worst possible way. Tell me something, do you think people’s ghosts stick around in the place where they died?”
“No, but I can understand you being a bit creeped out about it.”
“Well, that’s what worries me. The old man left me the house, don’t ask me why, I guess some part of him like me after all. And I tried to tell my parents I’d rather just sell it, but they’re all, ‘You need to put down roots, marry a nice girl, be part of the family.’ And I can’t tell them why that’s not gonna happen without a giant fight and making my mother cry, so that’s what’s happening. They’ll be out of here on Thursday, after moving a lot of my old stuff in here. But I’m telling you, hon, there’s something messed up around here. A presence, I can feel it in my skin.”
“Well, are you sure you’ll be alright til then? Deep breaths, try to relax.”
“Yeah… I’ll be OK. All my relatives are buzzing around, it’s not giving me a chance to think. On the plus side, we can keep Ren here, so I’m not worried about burglars or anything. Just… I miss you. Wish you were here.”
“Wish I was there, too. Call me in the morning, OK? I want you to try to settle in. If we have to be there, we might as well make it a home, right?”
“Right… yeah… OK. Miss you, sweetie. I’ll be thinking of you.”
And then he hung up. He could be bold when he wanted to be, and usually that was when he already had a plan. With the dividends from his father’s company, we didn’t need to work, and my family had disowned me years ago for my lifestyle, so I could live anywhere I wanted. The house was bizarre for New Orleans, designed in the style of pagodas from Buddhist temples, in the middle of the Garden District. After a few days, the inside of the house was decorated the same way, paper lanterns and wooden dividers between the rooms, tasteful vases on end tables in the hallways. When I got there with a carload of artwork and entertainment equipment, he gave me a giant (for him) hug around my chest, as Ren jumped up on my legs, barking and wagging, trying his damnedest to knock me on my ass.
“Don’t mind him, sweetie, he’s just excited to see you. He looks tough, but he’s a big softie. Just like you, only his breath smells better.”
“Wow… eight seconds to your first read on me. You must have really missed me, to hold back that much.”
I leaned forward to kiss him on the forward, but he put his hand on my chest and turned to head into the house. Even after all this time, he’s afraid to be public with me. I blame his parents for that. But at least they let him be who he was around them. My parents haven’t known where I was since I was eighteen, and given how I left, they’re probably happy to be rid of me. So, I waited the time it took to get into the house and close the door before giving him a big, wet kiss on the mouth.
“Mmm… missed you too, stud. Didn’t miss the taste of vape in your spit, though. Whatever, let me give you the grand tour”
The house was a good size for two people, but the rooms were small compared to what I was used to, so they had a lot of different roles. Of course, the standard three bedrooms and two bathrooms, but also a little library, a parlor, a living room, a shrine, an herb garden. A place for every purpose, and every purpose had its place. Neat and cozy. Maybe not what I’d expected, but I liked it.
We spent the next couple days redecorating to suit our tastes. More modern, more aesthetic, less tans and more reds and oranges. Also, we needed to set things up for Ren, his toys and his bowls and his bed. The big fella was having trouble getting used to things in the house, and he would occasionally sniff the air and tremble and whine, which I put down to the smells of the previous owner and maybe some mice in the walls. It got to the point where we would just keep him in the kitchen with his food bowls and a big bone to chew on while we worked on the house.
One day, we went about replacing the paintings on the walls with brighter, happier one; the old ones, nature scenes in ink, had faded with time and were covered with dust. We stuffed the old paintings in the closets for in case his parents came to visit some time. I should say, though, that Hikaru tried and failed to stuff them in the closet; I had to do some restacking because Hikaru isn’t the best at manual labor, and that took me a while to manage. Just as I finished stacking, I heard something ceramic breaking in the hall, and then Hikaru’s “Shit!” in a loud whisper.
When I got into the hallway, Hikaru was sifting through the pieces of a broken jug. The carpet was wet and dirty, and smelled musty, like the water had been there for years. As Hikaru scrambled to look through the pieces, I knelt down to take a look.
“That thing is in rough shape. Want me to get some glue to put it back together?”
He rolled his eyes while he sifted through the pieces, putting them in a pile by the corner of the wall.
“Back together? Are you insane? That vase was older than me, probably older than my grandfather, and it’s powder now. There’s no putting it back together. It’s ruined now, like the carpet and… and whatever the hell this thing is.”
He held up a brown bundle of what looked like sack cloth, dripping wet. It might have been an old, dead bonsai for all I knew, but the shape was odd, uneven, gourd-like. I laid a hand on Hikaru’s shoulder, trying to pull him back down to Earth.
“Hon, it’s an old flowerpot. It’ll be OK. How about we take the pieces over to the dining room and put ‘em together again. It’ll still look broken, but just as strong. Kind of like us. Huh? Maybe?”
He didn’t give me an answer, so I scooped up the pieces and walked to the dining room with them. Hikaru was pouting still, but I heard him behind me, the cloth bundle dripping and leaving a trail as he walked. He walked into the dining room still looking lost, far-away in thought. From the kitchen next door, behind a gate, Ren wagged his tail slowly and whined at the sad approach of his owner. I put an arm around Hikaru and kissed him on the forehead.
“You’ll be OK, hon. Huh? Give me a smile.”
And then he looked up, eyes red and puffy with dried tears, and let out the tiniest hint of a smile; lips curled at the corners, a little, whispered giggle at how silly he was being, and a giant sniffle to clear his nose. He placed his bundle on the table, and I moved around it to hold him close. It must have been hard being here and having to hold it all in all this time. I could feel his heart racing, thumping against my chest. It was going so quickly… Hikaru let out a pained grunt through his teeth.
“Babe? What’s wrong?”
“Arrgh… I’m not sure… my chest… hurts… there’s this… throbbing in my… my arms and legs…”
I was afraid he was having a panic attack; he’s had them before, but never this bad. Ren pawed at the gate and barked in alarm, which was the last thing Ren needed to help him calm down. I sat him down at the table and watched him as his eyes screwed shut in pain.
“It’ll be OK, hon. Just breathe. Relax. It’ll pass. You’ll be fine. Deep breaths, come on.”
Hikaru gripped the edge of the table so hard his fingertips were turning white, his breathing hard. But in time, it slowed down, deeper breaths, his posture relaxed, his face loosened. In less than a minute, it was all over, or so I thought. But the way he sat there, so quiet, so peaceful… it wasn’t like him at all.
“Hikaru? You alright? Please, just say something. Anything. Speak!”
Hikaru’s eyes were half-closed, and he was swaying in his chair like he was going to faint. He fell away from me onto the floor, hard enough that I was worried he broke something. Ren leapt over the gate and ran to his side, while I looked over his unconscious body; nothing bruised, his arms and head looked OK. He woke up and gave me a giant grin as our relieved pet licked his cheeks and his mouth. Was he putting me on, really, after all that? And then, he said the last thing I could have expected from him.
“Ruff!”
His bark was shrill, but guttural at the same time; it made Ren jump in alarm. If it was an impression, it was a good one. Hikaru started to lick my hands and wrists, and when I pushed him away from me, he pushed back against my arms, crawling on his hands and knees, and pushing on my shins with his arms and head.
“Come on, babe. You can’t expect me to fall for this.”
He sat on his haunches and looked up at me, adoring me with his eyes. Ren sniffed him and licked his lips; to him, the only strange part was who was behaving this way. If this was a prank, he was committed to. Fine. Let him blow off some steam. I knew how to make him stop.
“Well, you’re a cute puppy, I’ll give you that. But you have to be hot in all those clothes. Let’s get them off you before you get them dirty.”
I went to the kitchen and rummaged through the junk drawer for some scissors. Big, heavy-duty ones for cutting up cardboard boxes, or wire. Perfect for ripping fabric and damaging it. Hikaru hates the idea that his wardrobe is ever less than perfect; even a pulled thread in his socks will annoy him enough that he has to change them right away. He’d never let me get away with this. I turned around with my best evil grin, brandishing the scissors and letting them reflect the light. Hikaru was.. crawling? Standing? Whatever, he was giving me that same loving look, the one Ren had as he followed behind.
“You’re gonna need to be groomed, sweetie. Hold still; I don’t want to hurt you.”
I knelt down with the scissors, waving them close to Hikaru’s face. He looked concerned, but he didn’t move, just kept his eyes on me, waiting for me to do something. So, I grabbed his shirt by the collar and pulled it down away from his neck. The only response I got from Hikaru was a soft whine. I opened the scissors and put his shirt collar between the blades, and then started cutting. But to my shock, he didn’t complain about how I was going to leave a mark on his neck or stretch the collar, so it was loose and wrinkly. He didn’t even shriek to stop or try to move away. He just stood there. Staring. Daring me to do it.
So, I started cutting. He didn’t do anything on the first cut, or the second, or the third. He shied away from the feeling of cold metal on his skin, but beyond that, he was completely still. I cut the shirt along its entire length of the torso, and then down his sleeves, pulling it down off his chest. He was shivering, but still there, still giving me those sad eyes. I waved the tattered fabric in front of his face.
“There. Your shirt is ruined. Was it worth it for this little prank of yours?”
And then Hikaru stopped staring at me. His eyes followed the shirt as I waved it, his mouth open and smiling. Ren’s eyes mirrored his master’s, tail raised and alert. Then, with a sudden jump, Hikaru grabbed it in his mouth, pulling it down with his teeth, ripping the material still further as Ren pulled at the other end. Now, Hikaru may not like me ruining his clothes, but he would never in a million years be that aggressive, especially with me. This boy showered twice a day, and now here he was on his hands and knees shredding his shirt and getting Ren’s slobber all over it and on his face. This wasn’t a game he was playing; something was really wrong with him. At least Ren was helping me keep him occupied.
I inspected the cloth bundle Hikaru was holding more closely. It was almost dry now, the cloth stained with age and grime. It had to have something to do with his sudden turn to bestiality. I decided to cut into the fabric and see what was inside, fearing some kind of poison or hallucinogen. But when I tore through the fibers, it looked like the head of a dog, completely dried and leathery. It smelled like pine needles and tree bark, its fangs still sharp, with blackened husks where its eyes had been.
“What the fuck was this guy into?”
Hikaru and Ren had pulled apart the shirt and were chewing on the pieces. Hikaru was actually chewing and swallowing pieces, so I had to take them away from him. Thankfully, he didn’t have an actual dog’s muzzle and reflexes, or he might have bitten me for trying. He was going to hurt himself at this rate. The only thing I had to go on was his grandfather, and I knew almost nothing. I looked down at Hikaru as he looked jealously over at Ren and his “prize”.
“Hon… I don’t know how, but you really screwed the pooch here. Hope you don’t mind me using your phone when you wake up from this… thing…”
Hikaru’s phone was in his pocket, so I needed to get his pants off of him. It’d be sexy if it weren’t so bizarre. I went over to the fridge and found some leftover egg fried rice from the previous night. I needed a distraction, and he was clearly hungry if he was willing to eat polyester. So, I dumped that Chinese food on a big plate, and set it down on the floor.
“Hikaru? Here, boy. Get some real food, come on,”
He crawled over and slammed his face into the plate, getting egg all over his face. While he chowed down, I cut his pants down the seams and pulled them off his legs. I was a little hasty with the scissors, so I got his boxers too, but I wasn’t concerned; I don’t think he even noticed the cool breeze on his shaven, smooth groin as he savored his cold meal. Once I had his pants in my hand, I reached into the pocket and grabbed his phone, scrolling through his contacts to find his mother’s number. I eventually found it under “Lady Brackwell.” Boy always did have a flair for the dramatic. I pressed the call button, hoping and praying that she wasn’t busy for once. My heart sank when, after a few rings, I got her voicemail.
“The number that you have dialed is not available. SHINAMOTO CHIYO is not available. Please leave your name, number, and message after the tone.”
As I waited for the message, I looked over at Hikaru. He’d licked the plate clean, and Ren was busy cleaning his face. Hikaru was taking the opportunity to lick at Ren’s tongue and teeth. The same tongue that I knew Ren had used to clean himself up after going outside. Gross.
“BEEP”
Shit. How would I find out what I needed without telling her what happened?
“Uh, yes, Mrs. Shinamoto, this is Ray. Hikaru… can’t talk to you right now. He’s.. he’s afraid. He broke a vase here at the house, an old one, and there was some kind of… dog head inside? I don’t know, he’s really acting strange over it. Call back as soon as you can. I’ll try to… calm him down in the meantime.”
I hung up the phone and shoved it in my pocket, looking over at our dog and his boy. They were still licking each other’s mouths, Hikaru laid on the ground with Ren towering over him. Hikaru’s cock was starting to get hard. Did he enjoy this? Or was it whatever was happening to him?
“Hey! Cut it out, Ren! He’s sick, come on!”
It took an effort, pulling a big muscular dog out of the room, but I was able to get him into the bathroom and shut the door at last. It didn’t help that I had to hold my body between him and Hikaru, who kept sniffing and licking whatever he could reach. Greedy prick.
“There! Now, as for you, I’m gonna have to figure out a way to keep you safe while I figure out how to fix this. Let’s see…”
Ren’s leash was hanging up on a hook by the front door, alongside a spare collar. I grabbed the two and knelt down to Hikaru’s level. God, those eyes! They felt bigger somehow, more needy. He always knew how to tug at my heartstrings, and apparently he didn’t even need words to do it. Still, I beckoned him over to me and enclosed his neck in the collar, clipping the leash to it. Hikaru whimpered pathetically as I stood up.
“Sorry, hon, but I need to keep you close. Wouldn’t want you going out into the street like this. Now, come on, let’s go to the bedroom. You’ll be nice and comfy, there.”
It took a couple tugs, but he eventually got the message and followed behind me. Ren scratched at the bathroom door as we went, barking for freedom, but now was not the time to pay attention to that. Our bed lay on the floor, which made it easy for Hikaru to climb up onto it. The trouble was finding a place to attach his leash; I eventually settled for wrapping it around the handle of the end table drawer. Not the sturdiest hold, but I’d at least get some warning if he tried to wander off. He curled up at the side of the bed, looking up at me and licking his lips.
“Still hungry, hon? Or… nah. You’re cute like this, but it’s… do you even know what sex is?”
He was sniffing the air near me, which happened to be crotch height. Perfect time for his phone to ring; of course, his mother would pick now to call me back.
“Fuck… Alright, stay out of trouble, would you?”
I opened up the sliding glass door and stepped outside to take the call. I was afraid of how he’d react to hearing her voice, even like this. And even more afraid of her reaction.
“Ray? You called me before. How you doing? You boys all moved in?”
She’d lived in San Francisco for twenty-five years, but her English was still pretty basic. That would make this harder to explain.
“Yeah, yeah, we’re… we’re doing good. Uh, listen, you got my message, right?”
“Yes, but I didn’t know what you meant. Where’s Hikaru? Can I talk to him?”
I looked back through the glass door at Hikaru. He was wagging his rear end, probably hoping to be let out. Fat chance, now.
“No, he’s.. out… listen, that vase with the dog head in it? We broke it open, and… did that mean something to your father? He’s freaking out about it, I wanted to calm him down, you know how he is.”
The phone went silent for a moment. An icy silence, fearful. Then Mrs. Shinamoto started swearing rapidly in Japanese, her voice high-pitched and panicky. Hikaru must have gotten his histrionics from her.
“OK, ma’am? You know what this is? I didn’t want to shock you, but—”
“Did he grab his chest and fall over? Bark like a dog? Always hungry?”
“Then you do know about him? What the hell—”
“Our family has secrets. Help from a—in English, a dog spirit. Been with us for hundreds of years, gave us good luck in business. But my father was different. It turned on him, made him sick. That’s why he moved away from all of us. We have this… curse… And now, my baby boy…”
“But there’s a cure, right? A way to bring him back?”
“Yes, but not many know how to do it anymore. The only one I know is my uncle Ryushi, back in Matsue. I can call him, try to get him there. It will take a couple days, though.”
“Oh, thank God! What do I do in the meantime?”
“Keep him there and keep him fed and happy! He’ll be hungry all the time, and if he doesn’t like you, he could turn on you too! I’m gonna call right now. Stay there!”
With that, she hung up the phone. This was going to be a long couple of days. I went to the door to go inside, but Hikaru wasn’t in the room anymore; the drawer was pulled out of the end table.
“Hon? Where are you? What happened?”
I went back down the hallway. I could hear licking coming from the kitchen; had he gotten into the garbage, or the fridge? He’d already eaten clothes, who knew what else he might eat? I walked swiftly into the room, and there Hikaru was on his back, the drawer lying next to him on the floor overturned with its contents strewn around the room. Ren was on top of him again, lying on top of him, pinning him down, his head down toward Hikaru’s crotch. Hikaru was giving the great dog’s sack a tongue bath, and Ren was eagerly returning the favor and getting a steady dribble of pre as a reward.
I was stunned at the sight of them there, the boy buried under the dog lapping at him lovingly. I rushed over to separate them, but the contents of that drawer, batteries and papers and tissues and the like, got in my way. Then again, it’s difficult enough getting a 150 lb. beast to go where you want when he isn’t trying to stay near his favorite bone. All I succeeded in doing was pulling Ren’s head away from his cock for a half-second at a time, but if anything they seemed to enjoy that more; Hikaru was lifting his hips off the ground, humping Ren’s mouth, and the extra stimulation on Ren’s groin was making him horny too, as his low rumbling and spasming hips clearly showed.
In a minute or two, however, they stopped of their own accord; Hikaru laid back, panting and whining, as his cock throbbed in Ren’s slobbering mouth. Then, he cried out as his cock twitched sharply, shooting cum onto his smooth face and chest. His head fell back onto the floor in a faint as Ren licked the cum off him. Not ideal, but maybe the best way to clean up, all things considered.
“Jesus… well, at least you had a good time.”
“Uhh… Ray… What the fuck…”
I stared at Hikaru as if he’d just spoken to me in fluent French. His eyes were alert, concerned, but he seemed OK.
“You’re you, now? What the fuck happened? Are you alright? Anything broken?”
“Just my pride, hon… get me up off the floor, will you? I need a shower… and some mouthwash, fuck, what did I eat?”
I hemmed and hawed. Maybe now wasn’t the best time. I lifted him to his feet and escorted him to the living room, to a comfortable chair. Ren was just lying there in the kitchen, snoring softly. He needed a nap after all that excitement, I guess.
“Take it slow, alright? Your mom said there was some kind of curse? What was it like? Do you remember anything?”
He held his head in his hands the way I’d seen him a few times before, like he was nursing a bad hangover. I filled up a glass of water for him, then slid it over.
“When I broke that jug, something came to me… some kind of buzzing in my ears. I felt all these conflicting feelings, anger and sadness and spite and relief, all at once. They were all fighting in me, it felt like I was going to explode. And then they all just went away, all at once. All I felt was this hunger, this need to devour and take and possess for myself. And that just took hold of me, and I blacked out. I only woke up with you in my arms and Ren licking me, naked on the floor. Oh, God, I didn’t hurt him did I?”
I heard Ren padding behind us and placing his head on Hikaru’s lap, sniffing him, and looking at him adoringly.
“He doesn’t seem to think so. Hell, maybe he even liked it. Come on, let’s get you cleaned up.”
I led him over to the bathroom and shut the door to give him space to take a shower. Ren came and sat by the door, staring at it. He was acting very strangely but seeing Hikaru act that way and feeling his mouth must have confused him so much.
“It’s OK, bud. He’s back to normal, now. Come on, you haven’t had your dinner yet. You have to be hungry by now.”
The word “dinner” arrested the dog’s attention, and now he was following at my heels, even nipping at them to get me to go faster. I could hardly get to the plastic bin of grain-free dog food without him sticking his snout in to get every morsel he could. No sooner would I give him a scoop of it before he would seemingly swallow it whole, then look sadly up at me begging for more. He must have eaten twice as much as he normally eats and drank three full bowls of water before he was satisfied. I could practically hear it sloshing around in his belly. Hikaru came into the kitchen, nude except for the towel over his head.
“Finally, I feel like myself again... All that dust was getting under my skin…”
“Great… that’s a good look for you. Really shows off your figure. You planning to put on pants, or what?”
He came over and gave me a sensual hug, grabbing my ass.
“The sun is setting already, and we’re not going anywhere. I figured we could stay in and cuddle, maybe watch a movie? You up for it?”
There was something about the mischievous glint in his eye that caught me off guard. The bulge in my jeans was enough answer for him that at least part of me was up for it. Ren came close, sniffing at our legs. As much as I hated to admit it, seeing him and Ren together earlier kind of turned me on.
“Sure, babe. Go pick out something to watch, I’ll be there in a minute.”
Hikaru practically ran out of the room, whipping the towel off his head in a hurry. Strangely, Ren went in after him, and I was afraid that the two of them might start without me. But thankfully Ren was just lying on the floor as Hikaru scrolled through the options. At last, he put on an episode of “House of Cards” and patted the bed beside him. I didn’t know what episode he put on and didn’t care; Kevin Spacey’s glib baritone was just background noise while Hikaru and I kissed and felt each other up. God, what a beautiful man I had here in my rough hands, ready to take on the world. I needed him, the real him, after the scare I’d had today.
As we kissed, I rolled him over onto his back, kissing my way down his neck and chest to his hips. Grasping his supple cheeks in the palms of my hands, I lifted his ass up and ran my tongue across his smooth, velvety hole. My mustache rubbed against his scrotum and taint as I licked, revving his engines. He moaned and stroked my hair as I took charge of him, my body a tool for his pleasure. I heard him moaning, sighing; his voice could get higher than some women I’d dated when I was younger, when I get him going. Using one hand to prop myself up, I played with his balls with the other, pressing into his grundle and making him squeal with pleasure.
“Oh, fuck, babe… You… oooooh, God… Just fuck me, please… God… fuck…”
I love tormenting the boy with pleasure; just enough to make it unbearable, not enough to get off right away. It’s a delicate balance, but when you do it right, your partner just gets lost in pleasure, or sees God as somebody once told me. I quit playing around and straightened up my back, running my cock between Hikaru’s cheeks and adding pre to the not inconsiderable pool of saliva there.
“You want it? I’m not sure you do. Why don’t you beg for me? Go on, hon… Beg me to fuck you…”
“Oh… please… I need it… Ooooo…”
He started whining, and as he did, Ren joined in from the floor behind me.
“Hehe… you’re like a bitch in heat, sometimes. Since you asked nicely…”
I lined up my cock to Hikaru’s hole. You wouldn’t think it fits, looking at it, but we had plenty of practice to show it works. I grabbed his waist and gradually pushed my way in, through his outer sphincter and up against his inner one. I could feel him shuddering at the sensations all around me, as he drooled out of the side of his mouth and tried and failed to form words. I held him close for a moment before slamming into him over and over. I was pent up from a day of dog sitting, but I still lasted a long time by focusing on other things. Math problems were what I normally used, just listing out prime numbers like a mantra. Two, three, five, seven… they slowed down after a hundred or so, but I’d just start over, all while pumping rhythmically into the boy and making him grab the sheets beneath him to hold on.
Of course, all that took a lot of concentration, between keeping in rhythm, paying attention to Hikaru’s body, and focusing on not blowing my load too early. So, it’s not surprising that in that moment, Ren was able to get the jump on me, pouncing behind me and climbing on top of my back. I tried to push him off, but he’s a big fella, and it’s kind of hard to do anything when you’re inside of someone. What is surprising is that he started pumping into me as hard as I was pumping into Hikaru, pinning me inside of him and forcing himself inside of me. His thrusts bumped into my hips and forced me deeper inside Hikaru, who was still senseless from being fucked from his own stud.
As I lay there, hunched over Hikaru and taking for the first time in my life, Ren growled into my ear and bit me on the shoulder, rutting me roughly. The pain of the bite, and the swelling in my ass, were dulled by shock and adrenaline; it broke my concentration, so all that was left was the conflicting feelings boiling up inside of me, forcing me to my climax while Hikaru writhed with pleasure. But with Ren still pounding me relentlessly, all I could do was hold still and hope he was done quickly. If I’d known then how being mated to a dog ends, I probably would have wanted him to take his time; before I’d even fully finished coming, I felt a sharp pain inside my ass, like a balloon was being blown up in there. That came right before Ren did, his jism warm and coating my insides. The moment it flowed into me, Ren relaxed and laid down on top of me, sighing with relief. At the same time, however, I felt a strong change come over me.
The next few minutes are difficult to relate to anyone who hasn’t had a moment of crisis in their lives, some breaking point that made them unable to even be certain of what was and wasn’t real. There was, at first, a flood of raw emotions about our predicament; anger and shame at Ren for taking advantage of me, fear that he might hurt Hikaru or that I might by accident, relief that it was over, post-coital bliss. Then it was as if all of that were channeled into some other, deeper part of me, and this presence came in and took over. It rushed up my hips into my chest, and from there throughout my body, to my legs, arms, and head. And then everything that used to be me got dimmer, hollower. There was no thought anymore, only instinct and hunger and greed. My arms could no longer take my weight and Ren’s as I collapsed forward into Hikaru’s chest.
I woke up to Hikaru’s hand lightly tapping my cheek. He was wriggling around beneath me, and his face looked concerned. He was making noises, but all I heard was fear. I wanted to tell him I was OK, but all I could do was whimper and bark. I wanted to crawl forward and console him, to lick his face and love him and thank him, but there was a thing holding me back by the ass, and Ren was above me, pinning me down. I pulled a bit, but I couldn’t go anywhere, so I tried shaking him off of my back. He leapt off, and stood facing away, which was a relief.
Hikaru wiggled himself free and stood there, looking at me and Ren, and all I could feel was love. For him, for Ren. That and hunger. I wanted food, water, attention, everything. He petted my head and spoke tenderly to me, and I whined, because he sounded sad and worried and I wanted him to be happy. When he left the room, I whined louder; he should be here, with me, stroking me, paying attention, giving me everything. So, I was happy when I saw him come back holding bowls, and I could smell meat and water and good stuff. Ren tugged behind me to get at it, and I growled and tried to move with him, because he wanted it and it was mine and not his. Both of us tugged at each other until I felt a pop behind me, and I was free. I turned around and saw some white stuff on the floor that smelled tasty, so I licked it and I liked it and I wanted more.
Hikaru set the bowls down and Ren dove into them but I pushed him out of the way so I could get the food and it tasted fantastic but I wanted more and I wanted Ren to not have any so I growled as I ate. Ren moved behind me and licked behind me and it felt good but not as good as the food in my mouth and the water and the pets from Hikaru and the kind words that I got all for me. And then while I ate Hikaru reached under me and felt my cock, still slick and warm and throbbing. I wanted him to keep touching me there, so I pressed into it as I ate and humped while he squeezed and stroked and told me sweet things. When the food was gone I pressed my body into Hikaru, knocking him over so I could lick him and hump him and use him to make me feel good. I wanted to hump his hole, but he held me up and stroked me while he made weird noises. Ren came over and licked me too, it was warm and rough and made it better, all this love for me, me on top, me doing what I want and taking what I could.
After Hikaru struggled for a bit, I found a position that worked, me humping his inner thigh, rubbing against his cock, Ren’s tongue darting in and lapping at the two of us while Hikaru stroked me. The small boy would be a perfect bitch, my bitch, under me, feeding me, stroking me, mine, my lover, my servant. Those thoughts, his smooth hands, Ren’s rough tongue, my humps, they all felt good and worked through me, driving me faster, harder, better. And then they stopped, my aching balls tightening and shooting out a thin sliver of cum on Hikaru’s belly, which Ren lapped up happily, even licking the remnants from the head of my cock as it shot out. And as he did, the hunger was gone, the fog lifted, and I looked at Hikaru stroking my head and saying, “Good boy, hon… Did it work?”
I sat back on my ass and rubbed my eyes with my fists. “Well, I’m sore, but I’m me, again.”
Hikaru squealed with delight and held me close, kissing my forehead and then my mouth.
“Jesus, that was bizarre. Kinda fun, though, not gonna lie. We’d better get to bed before Ren wants to go for round three.”
And so, we got under the sheets, holding each other, and enjoying each other as Ren lay at the food of the bed, snoring loudly and twitching, the dog spirit inside him no doubt giving him strange dreams. I regretted calling Hikaru’s mother, now, because this uncle of his was going to come and return things to normal any day.
Except that day hasn’t come yet. A global pandemic all but shut down the airports in the US and Japan, travel between those two countries cut off to maintain quarantines. And so, we’ve been in this house for the past four months, passing this thing between the three of us and embracing it as a friend and companion. We keep it well fed, since whoever has it wants about twice as much food as normal, and when we’re bored we fuck each other senseless. I think the thing has some residual effects on us: we eat more red meat, and each of us needs to come at least twice a day to keep sane. But at the same time, somehow, Hikaru and I are more successful than ever; Hikaru’s digital art is getting insanely popular, auction prices going into the thousands, while his parents’ company switched over to designer masks and doubled the dividends that Hikaru and I get every month. As for Ren, our sweet, strong, sexy boy, we have a new understanding of what he wants through our invisible friend, and have been looking for another mate for him, so we can pass the spirit on and spread it around within his family. We all feel the hunger of the inugami, now, which makes life’s simpler pleasures sufficient for our happiness. Maybe one day you’ll find one of our pups and understand, as we do, how much love a dog can bring to your home. But even if you don’t, even if it’s horrific to you, our odd little family will prosper and grow, one household at a time.
