Chimera chronicles: awakening Prologue
So this is one of my series I am writing. it is a horror scifi action series. this is technically a rewrite btw. I hope ya'll enjoy and please tell me what ya think, and leave a comment or some criticism.
Also side note this does include anthro characters they just don't entirely show up as full on anthros until later. For the first parts mostly it's just the monsters which are known as Splitter's in the story.
The Year is 1985 this is the year the world ended and where our Story starts.
Amazonas province Brazil summer of 1985
A young Asian man hiked through the Jungle by himself, he carried a backpack with an ithaca featherlight shotgun on one side and a short katana on the other, this man’s name was Han Liang, he was a mercenary for hire. He bore green eyes and neck length hair.
Han hiked several miles before coming to a large tree where he would sit and rest, with a sigh he lowered his pack and sat down, he would wipe the sweat from his forehead and brush his black hair from his face. Han shook his head with an exasperated sigh. “Nothing but howler monkeys out here, so much for a monster.” He popped open his canteen and began to drink.
Han was used to wars and conflicts but there were none currently, so when he saw a contract for hunting a monster he couldn’t help but grow curious and investigate.
Yet so far he had found nothing, the contract had said something about a monster killing villagers and anyone else unlucky enough to come in contact with it and yet Han had found nothing, he had been here several weeks only to have the occasional big cat encounter or an angry monkey try to steal his food.
After several minutes Han grabbed his gear and kept on hiking deeper into the Jungle, he was coming close to the area he was told the creature lived in, he traveled for five hours straight till he came upon an old torn up fence, on it a sign read. Strom tech industries, below that read a no trespassing sign that was covered in a thin layer of moss.
“Strom tech industries huh?” Han remarked curiously as he climbed over the ruined gate and walked down the overgrown road, the Jungle was quiet here, not a bird nor even a mouse dared to make a sound. Han could feel it in the air, a certain aura that was simply known as fear.
“Starting to hate this job already.” He mumbled to himself as he rounded a bend and came upon what looked to be an old abandoned facility. “Well I’ll be, what were they doing to build this place all the way out here?” He asked himself a question that received no answer from the silence, Han approached the facility shotgun now in hand, the building was small in appearance from outside, inside there was a receptionist desk, some old torn up couches, and a ruined table that had been split in two. Han’s face twisted with disgust as he smelled rotting flesh, whatever happened here seems to be pretty recent. He took a breath before he pressed on.
Han walked slowly through the dark halls occasionally peeking into rooms cautiously, most were labs or storage rooms, he found a break room as well that had been wiped out with blood smeared across the walls and floor. “Damn what the hell happened here.” He grumbled, getting more anxious as he pressed on. Han quickly turned on his shoulder torch as it got darker in the facility, he soon came upon two large doors, like the ones you see in a hospital where patients are kept for recovery.
He peeked through the windows, a light flickered lighting up a gruesome scene, slowly Han pressed one of the doors open, upon doing this he gagged loudly from the smell. “Oh god...here goes nothing.” He took a breath and pushed open the door and stepped in to see the aftermath of some kind of animal attack, two rotting corpses with severe lacerations to the torso laid sprawled out across the floor.
“Good lord, whatever this thing is, I got one hell of a job ahead of me.”
For the next several minutes Han wandered the halls, his gun ready before stopping at the sound of something eating, he peeked around the corner aiming his gun, he stopped upon seeing what looked to be a werewolf eating a cow or what was left of it.
Taking a deep breath he stepped out into the open and pumped the gun then aimed, the Wolf humanoid turned and stood, he stood at least 7’7. “Huh, Big dude.” Han said before unleashing shot after shot into the creature aiming for his arms, legs and torso, he managed to blow off a foot and hand but only for a few seconds as they regenerated.
The wolf monster lept forward toward Han and reached him within a minute snatching the gun and breaking it in two over his leg, he tossed the pieces to the side and kicked Han in the chest sending him flying backwards into a wall. He fell and struggled to get up off the floor. “Holy...what did I sign up for?” He asked himself as he quickly tried getting to his feet before being lifted by the throat.
Bringing Him close up the monster’s face split apart into a flower and roared at Han who cringed at the smell of the creature’s Breath. “So that’s why they called it a splitter, fascinating!” He remarked before drawing his katana and taking half the head off. The Splitter roared with a gurgle as it dropped Han and began regenerating, Han turned and ran down the hallway to escape.
“I should have listened to my parents and became a lawyer!” He growled to himself as the splitter gave chase. “HUUUMAAAN!” The splitter shouted angrily to Han’s terror and surprise.
Once out of the facility Han turned and readied himself, the Splitter lept out and landed in front of Han who quickly cut off the splitter’s leg at the knee, he then struck at the waist then the left arm and spun around to the back side of the beast where he would deliver a powerful kick sending the Splitter to the ground.
“Now I’m gonna kill you, freak of nature.” As he said this he would stand over the splitter and sever it’s head killing it.
