Part 4
For Taiko

While Gold didn’t need to sleep – nor could he, really, being made of gold and something of a magical being – the leopard still enjoyed the quiet time in bed with the human that he’d been gifted to. The whole feeling of another person against his body, different as it was, had been long in coming, and with uncertainty being part of their strange little life, Gold was all the more inclined to lay awake and enjoy the feeling. He was pretty sure that Chrome did the same, though the other member of their little group was hardly as needful of it as he was.
Still, there came a time when anyone needed to give in to necessity, or at least, to boredom. The leopard rolled himself upright, taking care not to disturb Chris in the process. The human was still completely out of it, likely tuckered out from everything that they had done the night before. Gold had gotten the chance to use his ass for a change, and the human had seemed to love it. Well, either that or the feeling of being balls deep in Chrome’s ass, but either way, he’d cum hard.
He smiled, patting Chris’s bare butt before giving his cheek a kiss. Gold was out of bed and halfway to the door before the tell-tale glint of Chrome’s body shifting caught his attention. He paused, looking over his shoulder.
“What do you think you’re doing?”
The metallic zebra’s question was gentle enough, not accusing, not mocking, but he still bristled just the same. Strange feeling, that; being a figurine, most of the different range of motions were different, but that was a new one. Bristling fur on the back of his neck, something akin to something bubbling up and then popping, then forming something stiff and rather rigid right there.
Huh. Weird. Distracting, too.
“Just going to make breakfast.”
“Didn’t that go badly last time?”
“Well, yes, but that was last time, and this is this time.”
“It’s going to get us in trouble again.”
“Please. I’m perfect. I’m Gold, and thus, invaluable.”
“Heh, only by inflation.”
“Well, either we keep talking and wake him up, or you get up to stop me. Which is it gonna be?”
Chrome looked back at their sleeping human, then shrugged his shoulders, sliding back into bed. He waved the leopard off with his tail, and Gold chuckled, hustling into the kitchen.
That’s what I thought.
Shutting the door most carefully – and perhaps just a hint more exaggeratedly than he needed to – the leopard walked over to the small kitchen. There wasn’t a lot of space to work, nor was there much in the way of pots, pans, and other utensils. He imagined that Chris had been keeping mostly to packaged stuff, and that? That just would not do, the leopard had decided. They were going to eat, and he was going to show that he had a decent cooking skill. Last time had been a blip, nothing more.
I am the invaluable Gold. I can do this.
The first thing that he searched for was some sort of how-to book. He knew that he could cook – he’d done it before, once, when they had been let loose on some much earlier era – but that had been cooking over a fire. This was all new, all different. He had figured out how the stove worked, but recipes for it were beyond his ken.
I can figure it out, though. How hard could it –
Gold paused that thought and his fumbling around, and deliberately pulled his hand back. He stared at his palm, at the highly reflective ‘skin’ that covered his entire body, and shook his finger at his own face.
“No. No. We learn from our mistakes.”
The leopard narrowed his eyes, almost like he was frustrated at being called out on his own bullshit. He shook his finger at his reflection again.
“We do. No more burning pans. We do it right this time, and Chris gets a good meal, and he’ll give us a starring role.”
Nodding at his reflection, he went back to searching. Boxes of flour, cartons of spices, boxed meals and more were tossed from the cupboards in a search for a cookbook. The leopard ended up climbing into the narrow wooden boxes, rooting through them and crawling around the various bits and bobs that were kept up there.
Those that fell out of the cupboard, he managed to catch with his tail, but there was still a royal mess on the countertop when he finally managed to find the cookbook at the very back of the cupboard and shelves. Gold rolled out and, like all cats, managed to land on his feet.
“There we go. Now, let’s see here…”
He flipped open the cookbook, only to find that there were two problems. First, the whole thing was written by hand, which meant that there was a great deal of difficulty in translating the different letters until he got used to the handwriting in question. He narrowed his eyes at the lettering, shaking his head as it shifted from print to cursive and back again at random.
“Someone’s going to need to teach him to write neater…”
Still, that was hardly a problem compared to the second issue. There weren’t many dishes in the cookbook, perhaps no more than twelve, and of that, only three seemed to deal with breakfast food.
Hmmm…omelettes…
The thought was tempting, but after yesterday’s mistake with the frying pan, he wasn’t sure that he trusted himself with eggs again just yet. Sure, he could probably do it far better this time – it was yesterday, after all, and today was today – but there were other options. There was a potato dish that involved a great deal of onions, peppers, and sausages that looked rather tempting, but it was also something that claimed to take a good hour to get done properly, and he doubted that even an exhausted Chris was going to stay asleep for that long.
Pancakes it is.
He flicked to the page, putting the book down on the small table just outside the cooking area. He flicked at his coat, making the golden apparel leave his frame for a moment with a wobble like a square of metal being wobbled back and forth, then it clicked back onto him like magnets to a fridge.
“Alright. Eggs, milk, flour, baking powder…baking…powder…”
The leopard stared at the powder marks that were left on the counter, then slowly traced one particular trail down to the one thing that had fallen down that he hadn’t caught. Kneeling down, he turned the little cylinder around, and saw that was the very ingredient that he needed.
“…You’re kidding me.”
Flicking open the lid in hopes of seeing some left, he found that it had been completely emptied by his hijinks in the cupboards. He sighed, tapping the lip of the cylinder against his forehead.
“Great job, Gold, seriously, great job…”
Well, that option was dead on arrival with the lack of baking powder, but there were still eggs, still some bits of sausage that were left in the fridge. He might be able to make the eggs properly this time. He opened the cupboards, looking for a clean pan, and he found yet another problem.
“Only one set…”
Starting to feel less and less the capable feline that he was supposed to be, he slowly rose to his feet and glared at the sink. The pan from yesterday sat in the middle of a puddle of soapy water, waiting to be pulled free, rescued and used again. He reached out for it, drained it, and it fell into the sink with brown and yellow aplenty.
“Well, you look like me on a bad day…Let’s not use you yet. Ugh.”
Well, at least he could fix that much. He set to cleaning, turning the water as hot as it could go. He could go further than Chris could, due to his own metallic nature, and he was quick to start washing things up. The leopard smiled as he worked, humming to himself as his tail flicked from side to side. Gold was impossible to tarnish or rust, so there was something always hopeful to his nature. Well, always everything, for that matter. If he started feeling something, he tended to persist with it. The feelings never quite went away, just shifted to another one to be in charge.
Let’s make this perfect. I’m Gold, right? I’m that good, and I will be that good.
#
“How…how did you even…”
Chrome’s question was echoed in his own head, because quite honestly, Gold didn’t know how this had happened. It was something of an achievement, though, because he didn’t think anyone could puzzle this one out.
The pan had started burning almost immediately, probably because that steel mesh that he’d used for cleaning the crud out had scraped some of the bottom of the pan out. That, or the oils and butters that he had used to keep it slippery had come out of the pan. That had hit the burner under the pan, and from there…
Well, he wasn’t entirely sure how he’d managed to partially melt his hand into the burner, how the pan itself had ended up stuck burnt-side down against the ceiling, or how he had managed to jam his tail in the oven and get covered by all the flour that they had left in the apartment, but it had happened. No pain, thankfully, just a great deal of inconvenience with one hand half-melted and his tail turning from gold to something closer to red.
“Look, I’m sure we can all get into explanations later, but would someone mind turning this off?”
“Why didn’t you already?” Chris asked, shaking his head in amazement, the human’s mouth twitching at the corners.
Oh, don’t you dare start laughing, Gold thought, even as Chrome walked over and pressed the appropriate buttons and turned the requisite nobs at the back of the stove. The heat stopped pouring down on his body, and Gold was able to do a quick demanifestation and remanifestation now that he wasn’t distracted by everything else that had been going on. He shifted down to statue form, lost in a strange, stretched view of the world that mostly involved staring at the ground due to his shorter stature and position, and then changed back.
POP.
The sound of sliding in and out like that meant that he moved a little quicker than he’d like, and the surge inflated him outwards, then inwards, then outwards, then inwards again, making him feel like someone was puffing air into his body and sucking it out again just as fast. He stabilized quickly enough, but was still left a bit dizzy as Chrome unstuck the pan from the ceiling and carried it to the sink.
“I’m starting to think I should have stopped you before you started,” Chrome muttered.
“Hey, the eggs needed using, anyway.”
“And did the pan? How did you…You really have a way of doing the impossible, you know that?”
“Well, I am Gold.”
“Yes, and Gold, as ever, inspires trouble.”
There was no malice on Chrome’s face when he said it, and the slightly chubby zebra chuckled to himself as he set to cleaning. There was a hint of shame for a moment, but Gold covered that over with the hope of doing something better. He put a hand on his hip, turning to face his human again.
“Well, since I failed breakfast, I’ll just have to help inspire a story, instead.”
“I think you already did.”
“What? How?”
“Oh, all…this,” Chris said, gesturing all around the kitchen. “I’m going to be all day figuring out how to write this scene.”
“Oh no, you can’t do that. At least let me do something elegant, or interesting, or, you know, cool. Not this.”
“I don’t know. It adds some real humanity or…well, the equivalent, you know? It makes everything feel more real when something goes wrong.”
“…Wait. You’re not mad.” Gold blinked, looking back at Chrome. “Was he mad before?”
“Nope.”
“You’re not mad. He’s not mad.” The leopard blinked in confusion, turning back to the human. “Why aren’t you mad?”
“Because it’s hilarious?” Chris said, smiling. “I mean…look at this. What else am I going to do? Scream?”
Gold looked at the kitchen again. Considering that there was a giant black circle against the ceiling, the air stank of burnt metal, and the whole room was saturated in more than a little bit of smoke, he wouldn’t have blamed the human for getting furious, quite honestly. The fact that he didn’t kind of spoke rather wonderfully of him.
Still, Gold didn’t like being relegated to comedy alone. Sure, if he needed to be, he could be funny, but he wasn’t going to be the joker of the pair. He was going to be the valuable, beautiful one.
He smiled as he turned back to Chris, walking right up to him with a sway in his hips.
“How about you let me show you something new, then?”
“Uh, um, what did you…have in mind?”
“You remember how there’s a character being guided through the badlands?”
“Um…yes?”
“Let’s do a ritual. Something to really get into the bond between them.”
“Oh, um, al…already?”
“Why not?”
He smiled, leaning in and giving the human a little nibble on the side of his neck. Chris gasped at the little touch, but Gold didn’t let up.
“Just think about it. The two of them at night, deep in the desert. Nothing between them and the cold night except for each other. A ritual to share the warmth of their bodies, and grow ever closer. It would be wonderful, yes?”
The morning wood that was jutting up so close to his thigh was all the answer that he needed. He chuckled, pulling back.
“Why don’t you get ready? I’ll join you in a minute.”
“…How…why…how did you do that?” Chris blushed. “I was just wanting to write, and now –”
“Now you just want to…?”
Gold smiled innocently, and Chris groaned, rubbing his forehead. The human walked right out of the kitchen back to the bedroom, and Gold let out a quiet sigh of relief.
“Dodged that one.”
“I don’t think you really need to dodge anything with him,” Chrome said from the sink. “He’s a good guy. Not like the last one.”
“…Yeah. I know.”
“If he was, Black would be here.”
Gold’s small smile faded completely, a shift from golden love to golden anger. The last time that he had seen that snake in the flesh rather than in the metal, the snake had been truly punishing, and…well, terrifying, honestly. The serpent had been made to punish everyone and anyone that needed it, and he could see deep down to the weaknesses that every living being had. Everything that needed to be broken down, he could find.
Maker Oury had never said whether Black could do that to others like themselves, but the fear was always there. Black was the most terrifying thing that Oury had ever created, a hunter, a punisher, a breaker. The snake petrified him, and with the purity of Gold, that fear and anger ran deep.
Even though their last owner had been someone less than good, there had still been a bond there, something that Black had broken. It had been necessary, but he still didn’t think that the snake needed to be that cruel to do it.
He shook his head. Black wasn’t there, and that was all there was to it. He was alone with Chris and Chrome, and they were fine.
They.
Were.
Fine.
And just like that, his happiness was back. He smiled, nodding at Chrome.
“Thanks for the reminder. I won’t try and distract him so much anymore.”
“Try not to cook anymore, either.”
“Heh, no promises,” he said, shaking his head as he walked back to the bedroom door. He was going to keep going with the self-improvement. After all, one was only Gold so long as they kept striving to be the best.
As he pushed on the door, it opened with a slight creak. Light streamed in, and he saw that Chris had stripped out of his boxers and had gone down to nothing. He was completely naked, completely bare, almost like he had stripped down for bed again. There was already a chill in the air, and he realized that the human had turned on the air con, something to imitate the chill of the desert.
Perfect.
“Ah, my friend, you look like you will catch your death,” he said, slowly walking towards the bed. “Look at you. Blue-lipped, frail. You are not made for this.”
“I follow your lead, my friend. Ever, always, I follow.”
He really does love to play it up, he thought, smiling despite himself. Drama and a high-pitched, weak voice? He really is getting into role.
“You were not made for the desert, but I was. Come.”
He slipped onto the bed, crawling across the sheets. Gold’s tail flicked back and forth, almost touching Chris on the arm as he moved closer. Slinking around behind him, he started to bring his tail up seductively –
“Wait, wait,” Chris said.
“What’s wrong?”
“You’re still hot.”
“Well, I’m always hot.”
“No, your tail. It’s still hot.”
“Oh, whoops. Sorry. Uh –”
“Here.”
Chris passed him the water on the nightstand, and Gold carefully moved to the side of the bed, pouring the water over the edge of his tail. It hissed on contact, and it bubbled slightly against the hot metal. He glared at it, shaking his head.
Ruining the moment, you stupid thing. You’re supposed to be fixed when we change and come back. Fixed, I say.
Shaking his head, the leopard carefully poured the water out until the heat faded from the end of his tail. Flicking it dry, he returned to his human. Chris went back to smiling, imitating a bit of shivering. Only a bit, though. The rest was real. The air con was pretty powerful, after all.
“Allow me to welcome you to the desert properly,” the leopard whispered, dragging himself around the sitting human. “There is much that must be learned, much that you must begin to understand.”
“But how may I understand without a teacher?”
“That is what you must let me be,” Gold said, dragging his tongue along the human’s neck, a soft lick followed by a gentle nibble at the edge of his jaw. “Let me guide you. Let me be your brilliant beacon.”
“Oh, Gold…”
“Oh, my human…”
They shared another little embrace, kissing, nuzzling. Chris tried to nibble at his neck from time to time, but while he didn’t have the same sort of fur that some might – and so didn’t have the risk of giving Chris a hairball – he did have the smooth metal there. There was only so much that Chris could nibble back without risking his teeth.
Still, it was pleasant. He explored his human’s body, stroking his smooth fingers down Chris’s chest, over nipples that were just starting to pop, over his stomach and around it to his lower parts. He smiled at the heat in that rising shaft, and then further down, at the wealth of need in those hanging balls.
He smiled more as he slowly broke the embrace, gently stroking Chris’s shaft, giving it a bit of attention before dragging his hand further down. The human slid back, instinctively spreading his legs, and he brought his smooth finger right to that loosening pucker. All the things that he and Chrome had done to it of late had managed to loosen it from a virgin state to something more experienced, though he would still have to be careful.
Rubbing along the rim, he leaned down, whispering to Chris.
“Is that enough dialogue, or do you need a bit more?”
“Mmmph…golden as ever.”
“Hehehe, I am that good.”
“Yes, yes, you are.”
Gold might have blushed at that compliment if he’d been a little bit more himself. As it was, he was already worked up enough to start playing with Chris properly. He leaned his head down, his hands moving to the human’s ass cheeks and slowly parting them. The smell of sex from the night before lingered, and it was just enticing enough to get him to purr softly. The leopard’s tongue flicked out, and his human moaned.
As Chris gasped for breath, he flicked his tongue along that wrinkled bit of flesh just between the cheeks, teasing it, encouraging it to open again. It had been so eager the night before, not just for him, but for Chrome, as well. They had gone hard to make sure that Chris understood that they would be there for every need, not merely the ones that were outside the bedroom, and not merely on their knees, either. They were there for everything that he needed.
As he worked his tongue in deeper, Chris moaned louder. The human loved having a tongue back there, they’d found. He loved the feeling of being licked, teased, prodded and poked. Fucked? Yes, that too, but the passion burned hottest in the teasing rather than in the fucking. It was the hottest part, the most enjoyable part.
He worked his tongue back and forth, sliding it in, pulling it back out, and sliding it in again. Chris pulled his legs up and back to give Gold room to work, and the metallic feline did his best to take advantage. Lick, lap, lick, slowly working his tongue inside. He could hear the moans, smell the need that was rising just over his head. That shaft was hard, eager, ready to spill much more seed.
But not yet.
He worked his hands into those lovely ass cheeks, parting them further, feeling the softness that was inherent to the human’s fleshiness. It was so different to the sensation of another figurine, and one more reason why he enjoyed being close. The warmth against his body was better than any metal man.
Part, rub, lick. Each little tease was another push to get that hole to open, and it was gradually falling in line. Soon, he could see it clenching, parting, clenching again, and he grinned as he worked his fingers further in.
“That’s it…” He moaned as he licked. “Open up for me…let me show you…some true passion.”
“Mmmph…this isn’t…isn’t much of a…a ritual anymore…”
“No, but does it matter? It’s just as golden.”
“Mmmph…”
Chris didn’t answer, but that was fine. He was having too much fun himself. Tilting his head to the side, he dragged his tongue from one end of that hole to the other, gently pushing in before sliding out at the other side of the rim. It stretched it, pulled it open, giving him a chance to see those pink walls inside. Just for a half-second before it clenched shut again, but it was one more reminder of just how much Chris loved this.
It seemed like it was finally enough, and he pulled himself upright, grinding his cock between the cheeks once more. That pucker twitched against his hard rod, but not to the point of pushing him away. Just in surprise. He chuckled, leaning forward, pinning his human against the bed.
“Are you ready?”
“Mmmph…yes…”
“Good. I want you, Chris. Do you want me?”
“Yes…”
There was a softness, a warmth, a wonder that made his heart flutter. Or something like a heart, at least. It was hard to tell just what he had inside of him, sometimes.
Regardless of what it was, though, he set to work. He slowly slid forward, his smooth shaft different to a living feline. No bumps, no barbs, just an unnatural smoothness that was part of a long, masculine length. He smiled at the soft gasps that he pushed from his human, the little whimpers of pleasure, the clenches that slowed him and almost stopped him. But nothing could stop him, now. Nothing but Chrome or Black could have done that.
He finally hilted, and the human’s toes curled. Oh, he loved watching that. The soft little signs of pleasure, the way that the body talked when the mouth couldn’t. Passion. Passion was what it was all about, and that movement was pure passion.
“Mmmm, you love it, and I love you.”
“Do you…do you really?” Chris asked with a blush.
“Of course. We are made to love our humans.”
“…I…I…”
Laying a finger on Chris’s lips, he pushed in a bit deeper. Not much, but enough to stop whatever it was that Chris might have been trying to say. If it had been anything like ‘I love you, too,’ he wanted to stop it right then and there. The figurines could give love easily, could give it in abundance whether it was deserved or not. Taking it, however, was much harder. Unless Chris meant it for real, and not just as a response, he didn’t want to hear it.
Gold could not be tarnished, but love could be, and he didn’t want this to take that just yet.
Instead, he thrust, fucking gently to get the rhythm going. Chris shivered, gripping at the back of his thighs to hold them up and out of the way. Gold leaned forward, just enough for their stomachs to touch, for them to be in contact with one another.
Forward, back, forward, back, each time making the bed shake just a little under him, enough to make it a little more intense. The differences between them, the way that Chris bounced, the way that there was a slight wiggle or jiggle or tension shift in his skin and flesh with every thrust while Gold remained relatively stiff, was always fascinating. Fascinating, wonderful, something else to love.
He leaned down, kissing along the human’s chest, and up to his neck. Thrusting away, gently lifting Chris’s hips from the bed, he made sure to hit that special spot every time.
“Ah…ah…”
“Yes?”
“So…good…”
“Mmm, I’m golden.”
“Gold star…perfect…ah…ah!”
Knowing the sounds of impending climax, he sped up, taking it a bit faster, a bit further. He knew that it was going to get better before they were done, but he wanted Chris to pop first. He wanted the human to really get off to this. In, out, in, out, shifting his angle just a bit more, grinding down, putting that little stretch on the hole as he slammed in and out, forward back, forward back, in –
“Ah!”
And then it was done. Chris moaned under him, arching his back and cumming right then and there, and Gold couldn’t help but grin just a bit in pride. The feeling of pleasure that came from giving his human that sort of bliss was everything. He slowly pulled his cock back out, feeling Chris clenching on it the whole way out.
“Heh…good?” he asked.
Panting hard, the human looked up at him for a moment. They stared at each other in affection…and then Chris pounced.
“Gah!”
Gold laughed as he was knocked backwards, grinning as he play-wrestled with the human. He could win with ease if he tried, but for now, it was fun to just have a game. They would get back to the other fun in a minute, but for now, the game of body to body, fun to fun, and the feeling of affection was all he needed.
#
They were busy for most of the morning, but Gold would have been willing to go into the afternoon and evening if he had the chance. The only reason he took a break was because Chrome wanted a turn, and that meant that he needed to give the other figurine a chance to have his fun with their human.
As he got out of bed, Chris called him back for a moment. They shared a small kiss, and Chris told him that he had a hundred little ideas for the ritual now. The thank-you that followed was wonderful, and he carried that smile with him into the living room.
It was such a different sort of feeling, this time. They had been given to people before. Maker Oury had a habit of passing the figurines out to those that needed them, and Gold had been with perhaps four other people in his lifetime. Chrome had been with three, and he knew others that had yet to be with anyone, just with how choosy Oury could be, and how difficult the Maker was with who he picked to actually hand them out to.
That said, he was picky for a reason. Of the four that Gold had seen before Chris, he had been treated well by only one of them. Two had all but ignored him save for time in bed, and the last one…well, there had been a reason that Black had been dispatched. He hated Black for what he’d done, but the action had been required.
Chris was by far the best of the bunch, but it was still so strange to feel so strongly about someone. Even he was aware of how intense he could be, and how loving and passionate he could become. It was not the same as the humans, he knew, but it was his nature, and he could not fight his nature.
Wonder where this will go, he thought, glancing back at the bedroom. Wonder how long we’ll be able to –
Knock knock.
Someone at the door? He cocked his head to the side, getting up and walking to the peephole. Nobody on the other side, so he opened the door. Nobody leaving, either, he realized as he poked his head outside.
There was, however, a package at the door. A package that looked like it had fallen opening-side down. He cocked his head to the side, picking it up and bringing it in.
Chrome and Chris poked their heads out of the bedroom, Chrome with a stain across his cheek and Chris looking rather winded.
“What…what’s going on?” Chris panted.
“Something was delivered.”
“What is it?”
“Dunno. Did you order something?”
“Not me…”
They all shared a look. Or, well, Chrome and Gold did. What if this was something sent from the Maker? What if he’d rescinded his permission for them to be here? What if, what if, what if?
Chris put the box on the table and turned it around. It wasn’t even taped down. They were all puzzled, right up until the point where their human opened it and pulled out a snake figurine. It was pitch-black, dark as midnight, save for eyes that glittered.
“No!”
Gold leaped for it, but it was too late. The snake figurine exploded into black smoke, filling the apartment. They flailed around in the darkness, the leopard in particular shaking his head as fear and anger rose in equal measure.
No, no, no! He’s good! NO!
The smoke eventually coalesced into the familiar figure of Black. The snake’s tail was still held in Chris’s hand, and the dark serpent smiled in a way that froze Gold’s metaphorical heart.
“Hello, boys,” the snake hissed. “It appears that I’m your new roommate. At least, according to Maker Oury.”
Chris blinked. Whatever words passed his lips went unheard by Gold. He was too busy glaring daggers into the snake. That had to be a lie. Had to be; Maker Oury only sent Black out to punish people, and Chris hadn’t done anything.
Why are you really here? he wondered. What are you going to break this time?
