Smoothing Things Out
Part 5
For Harute11 and Libra-11
By Draconicon
Sleep was easy enough once they got used to the feeling of being watched. It came back again once they were in bed, though it was inconstant and not so stable as it had been the first time that they noticed it. Even Aries had felt it by the time that they eventually drifted off to sleep, and the wolf-fox hadn't entirely been keen on it, even as much as he enjoyed showing off for any other viewers.
But they still managed to sleep, albeit in less than standard amounts, and they were rested enough to be functional when morning came. They trundled down from their bedroom on the second floor to the kitchen, drawn by the smells of sausage and bacon, of fried foods and heated breads. Their stomach rumbled by the time that they stepped through the door, and it did so loudly enough that Libra turned when he heard it.
"Heh, that hungry, huh?" the rabbit hybrid asked, his ears pulled back with a twist-tie.
"Mmmph...long night," Blake muttered.
"Well, let's start you off right."
"Mmmph..."
He wasn't the most coherent during the morning hours. Aries was better, and Ptolemy more precise, but he was just not the happiest to be awake. Blake went to the coffee machine - something that was less high-tech than he expected, and all the better for it - and poured himself a cup. Once properly adjusted to his tastes, he took the cup to the dining table, sitting down and sipping at it.
The rest of his headmates were still waking up, but Ptolemy wanted him to bring up the watched feeling that they'd gone through during the night. Cancer probably would have said the same if the red wolf had dragged himself out of the metaphorical bed just yet, but so far, there'd been nothing from him.
All for the better, as far as Blake was concerned. He wasn't going to question the hospitality of their host on the first morning, even if he was a little nervous about what was going on. And if it was something that was just down to being in a new place, he didn't want to start something that he didn't need to.
If it happens again, I will bring it up, Blake promised.
You had better.
Ptolemy was the only one that could have said that and not made it sound threatening, Blake was sure. The rabbit merely wanted it to be stated, and was sometimes more blunt than he needed to be. Shaking his head, Blake continued sipping coffee until Libra brought the food to the table.
Breakfast sausage, bacon, eggs, a pancake or two: it was all there, and more than what was needed. He looked up, arching an eyebrow.
"You know it's just that many minds, not that many stomachs, right?" he teased.
"I know. I know."
"It's a lot."
"I know. I figured you'd want to have plenty to start the day with."
"...Just what kind of work are you going to have me do if you think I need this much food?"
"Heh, we'll get to that in a minute."
"...Okay."
Putting aside his nerves for the moment, he tucked in. The food was just about perfectly cooked, and it was nice to spend a meal in silence. They had talked a lot over pizza last night, and this was a nice counterpoint, allowing him to wake up without feeling pushed, stressed, or forced about it.
Not to mention there was a great deal more happiness from the more carnivorous headmates now that they were getting proper food, rather than meager meat toppings on a vegetable-laden pizza. They were much more content to just nibble and enjoy, savoring the grease and juices that came from the foods on their plate.
Blake was quieter for a different reason. It was partially the comfort of the silence, but it was also anticipation. He had come here with the hope of a good job and a good friend, and...well, there had been some evidence of the latter (though he'd like more) but not so much of the former, and he wanted to see it. More to the point, he wanted information, which would help guide the imagination that was running a little wild.
He's got all kinds of suits...what kind of things will he have us do with that?
That was something that he had yet to hear, and he just hoped that Libra was really going to give them some information this morning. They were a bit short of that.
They finished their food faster than they thought they would, and pushed the plate to the side. Libra had only half-eaten his own, and the rabbit hybrid chuckled, shaking his head.
"Are you sure about that one-stomach thing?" he joked.
"Pretty sure. We've never needed more food than anyone else."
"Well, you sure ate that fast."
"The, uh, the others were...very eager."
"Heh, makes sense." Libra spooned an egg chunk into his mouth, then put his plate to the side. "Well, no time like the present. I'm sure that you want to see what you'll be doing."
"If you don't mind."
"Well, come on."
"Oh, uh, just...one question," Blake said as they stood up. "Do you have any...employees?"
"Hmm?"
"Well, it's just...if there's more people than you working here -"
"Oh, right, yes. The others." Libra shook his head. "I'll sometimes have buyers come by, or someone with a particularly unique idea, but they're not allowed in except during scheduled appointments. You'll be made aware of those long before they arrive, and we'll figure out what to do when they're around."
He breathed out slowly, a large wave of relief following. That, at least, wasn't going to be a problem. If the others wanted to come out and it was suitable, then there was no worry about being 'discovered' that way. Small blessings.
The rabbit hybrid led him to the stairs at the back of the first floor. It was right at the rear of the building, for that matter, something that was disconnected with the stairs and lift that went to the other floors. He cocked his head to the side, glancing at Libra out of the corner of his eye. The hybrid shrugged.
"The basement's where I do most of my work. Anything finished has to sit for a while, anyway."
"So...what's the dome for?"
"Oh, that's where the theoretical stuff happens," the rabbit hybrid said, stepping into the stairwell and making his way down. "All the mathematics stuff goes on there, while I get the real work, the practical stuff, the mixing and physical bits, done down here."
"Less worry about someone finding it?" Blake asked.
"More or less. And if something goes bad, it's easier to lock down."
"Still would blow the place sky-high if it went explosive."
"Heh, more likely to just paint the walls down there with goo," Libra said, laughing. "There's not been any real explosions since I started my work."
There was always room for a first time, Cancer would have added, but Blake kept that to themselves. It would have been rather rude to start with that.
They went down three flights of stairs, a surprising distance downward before they reached a steel door. Blake cocked his head to the side, but it made some sense, he supposed. After all, this was a business, and there was always the possibility of thieves. That said, he hadn't expected a lab to be locked up quite that tightly.
Libra tapped out a code on a console adjacent to the door, then leaned in to hold his hand against a scanner. The door beeped and opened.
"Alright. Let's get started."
It was...surprisingly mundane, at first. Blake mostly started out as a model, helping test out the movement and wear-and-tear that resulted with specific motions. It was something that he imagined that most companies would have used robots or drones for, something to move in specific, repetitive motions. When he said as much, Libra shook his head.
"Some of them do that, yes, but that only gets so much testing done."
"I'd have thought that robots would be perfect for that."
"Kind of, but they don't have the variation that people do."
"How's that matter?"
"Look at the way you walk. It's always got a subtle difference to your steps. A few inches break in the stride, a few shifts in the way that you walk, different directions, stretches to the side or back and forth: all of these things combine to a sort of wear and tear that contributes to different fractures and stress marks to the material. It's better to test it on a person, to see where it can get damaged over time without the precision movements only stressing one area."
Ptolemy was colored impressed, and so was Aries, though that was less surprising. Aries could be impressed by a balloon rising out of nowhere.
Balloon?! WHERE!?
The wolf-fox's sudden enthusiasm nearly got Blake sputtering with giggles, but he managed to stop himself. He took a few deep breaths, pushing it back down as he finished the latest set of exercises.
"So, is that enough? I think I've been running around in this suit for about an hour, now."
"You probably could use a break, honestly," Libra admitted. "Take it off, and we'll talk about the next idea."
Blake nodded, pulling at the zipper behind his neck. It came down easily, and he stepped free. He felt...surprisingly happy about it, honestly. He had been a little nervous earlier, sure, considering that he had needed to strip down to his underwear to fit in the suit properly, but now that he had gotten used to it, he didn't mind being so close to naked around Libra. Whether that was due to some sort of endorphin rush from being in the suit for so long or something that had happened during the train ride the day before that they didn't remember, it didn't matter that much to him. It just felt nice.
As he folded the suit, Libra stepped out from behind the observation console. The floor lost its glow, and the idle tingle in the air that had come from strutting around and exercising on the strange platform disappeared. He felt heavier for a moment, more tired, but the moment faded quickly. Libra still offered him a hand down, however, and he took it. More to keep in contact with the hybrid than for any other reason, admittedly, but...
Well, it was nice.
Glancing around the underground lab, he had to admit that he was pretty impressed by everything that he had seen so far. It was like he was looking at something out of a science-fiction comic, considering that there were bubbling tubs of liquid latex, computers galore, specimen tanks that seemed to be filled with attempts at nanite latex replicators and -
Well, the list went on and on, but there was a black wall at the far end of the room, a place where Libra hadn't taken him on the tour. There were bumps along it, something that implied containers were being kept over there, but there was no sign of what they actually contained. Curiosity had run wild at the time, but the exercise that they were put through had subdued it. At least, for a while.
Now, he was curious again. What was over there, and why hadn't Libra showed it to them?
"So, how are you feeling?"
The hybrid's question caught them off-guard, dragging them back to the moment.
"Huh?"
"How are you feeling? Tired?"
"Oh, a bit, but...yeah, still looking forward to whatever else you have planned."
"Heh, aren't you the hard worker?"
"I do what I can."
"Well, you're doing surprisingly well."
Blake blushed, and so did Aries. The rest of them just looked down and away, as much as one could while inside of another's skull. It was rare that they got a compliment like that, and it was much appreciated. Blake rubbed the back of their head.
"Well...you couldn't have been that surprised. You did offer us the job, after all."
"And you didn't even have to apply."
"Heh...I guess not."
"Anyway." Libra smiled. "I had something a little more special that I wanted to test out. I need to do a couple of scans first, and...well, let me keep that part a surprise, but after that, I'd like you to help me test out some liquid latex."
"I think I got the energy for that. Sure."
"Excellent."
Libra patted his back, leading him over to another platform. Unlike the exercise platform, which had been about twenty feet across, this one was barely three feet across, almost like the scanner platforms in airports these days. It stood relatively tall, too, stretching a good six feet over his head, and it made him wonder if this had been used for much taller people than him. Blake stood in the center, shifting from one foot to the other as he tried to get comfortable, keeping himself from feeling too nervous.
"So, what does this do, exactly?" he asked.
"Well, if it works, you'll find out." Libra tapped a few buttons on a nearby console. "But for now, stay incredibly still."
"Just...physically, or?"
"Well, you can think as much as you like - actually, think more."
"More?"
"All of you."
"O...kay?"
Blake was a little bit weirded out at that, but he figured that it wouldn't hurt anything. He closed his eyes, taking a few deep breaths before holding it. The machine started humming around his head and under his feet. Putting the vibrations and the little tickles that followed out of his mind, mostly to keep from giggling, he focused his attention on himself and his headmates, and the little space that they shared in their skull.
What do you think he's doing? Aries asked, the hybrid staring at the roof of their skull. Feels different.
I imagine that he is tracing our body for a more distinct measurement. Ptolemy shook his head. But it does feel...odd.
Probably nothing that we can stop, though, Cancer grumbled.
Oi, it's not hurting anyone. Calm down, everyone. Ryder chuckled. It's like you're afraid of everything.
Not afraid. Merely concerned.
And as usual, Toy said nothing, but there was a sense of something being present, something pushing forward to 'examine' the tingling feeling that felt like it was running through them from head to toe. It was not anything painful, or they would have said something, or told Libra to stop it, but it was...odd. Vaguely disturbing, like something wiggling into them and going somewhere that it wasn't technically allowed.
But they continued to deal with it, tolerating the strange scan. Blake held his breath for as long as possible, and then a little longer still, until -
"Okay, I think that's everything."
They gasped for breath at that point, stepping down from the platform. Slightly lightheaded, they needed some support to make it back to the rabbit hybrid. Libra had a big grin on his face, which meant that whatever he'd been trying to do had succeeded. Blake put on as good a matching smile as he could.
"So, uh...what was all that?"
"Something amazing."
"Care to fill us in?"
"Of course, of course."
Dragging him over to the right side of the console, Libra pointed to the full-body scan that had come up. Blake recognized their silhouette, but what surprised him was that there were multiple layers over the skull. He cocked his head to the side as Libra tapped the screen, zooming in.
"See here? This is you. And this..."
The rabbit hybrid tapped the screen again. A secondary human brain scan popped up. This one had far less layers, far less designs sliding over it.
"This is a normal human."
"...What's...what's going on with ours?"
"That's why I wanted all of you thinking, chatting, you know? I wanted to see the different patterns that were going on, what neural pathways that you took. Sometimes, it crisscrosses, traveling on old paths, but see? Most of the time, it's completely separate from one another. Each of you takes a different path through the brain. No wonder you all think differently, act differently. You might as well all have a different brain already."
That seemed...impossible, but at the same time, it gave them all a sense of odd validation. It was almost like...like they were allowed to admit that they really existed, like they weren't just developments of psychiatric conditions. They had all acknowledged one another as real, of course. One couldn't get through life as someone with headmates without that, but this was something of an entirely different order.
This...this was something that gave real validation to their existence.
It would have been a tearful moment if Libra hadn't decided to give them a hug at that moment. They hugged back, more out of instinct than anything else, but it was still a good feeling, something that they hadn't realized that they needed at that moment.
The embrace continued for a few seconds, and Libra's hands patted their back multiple times. It was a comforting touch, but then it started going lower, and lower. Soon, one finger patted the top of their ass, and -
"Oh, sorry."
Libra seemed to realize what he was doing. He pulled back, but this time, Blake and Aries were of the same mind. They both reached out, grabbing his hand and pulling it back. Sure, they blushed at what they were doing, but the wolf-fox in their head was just confident enough, and the pair of them just affectionate enough, that they were able to pull through it. They grinned together, their lips pulled up in slightly different directions. The smile stabilized as the rest of the headmates came together in agreement.
"I...I don't think I want you to let go," Blake admitted.
"...You don't?"
"I want...I kind of..." Blake blushed. "It's weird that we all agree on something this much, but we'd like..."
"...You'd like to go further?"
"Not just with experiments."
"...Heh. I was...well, is it bad to say that I hoped you'd say that?"
"No. I'm glad."
They leaned in, hugging again. This time, however, when they pressed together, they really pressed together. No kissing. Not just yet, but there was a feeling of cock on cock, bulge on bulge down below. Feeling Libra's excitement for the moment only made it that much better for the headmates, and they started chattering. Quietly, but they chattered, all of them eagerly sharing - or, at least, sharing - what they might do with their turn when the time came.
The only thing that spoiled the hug, the groping, the touching, the grinding, was the feeling of something else being there. Once more, there was that feeling of being watched, almost like there was some other viewer or camera in the room. Blake gritted his teeth, trying to push past it, but the feeling just refused to go away. He dragged himself out of the hug, looking around.
"Something wrong?" Libra asked.
"Just...this feeling."
"What kind of feeling?"
"Like someone's watching, or something. I felt it last night, too."
He turned back to the rabbit hybrid, and for a split second, he thought that Libra's face had turned strange. Not bad, or wrong, but strange, almost like it was hastily hiding something. He cocked their head to the side.
"Do you -"
"I'll make sure that there's nothing in the system. One second."
The rabbit walked rather stiffly to another console, tapping at the keyboard attached to it. Blake opened his mouth, then shut it without saying anything.
That was...weird...
They had expected Libra to make light of it, or say that it was their imagination. The fact that there was actually a possibility of someone taking control -
But then again, this was a business, wasn't it? And that meant that there were always those that wanted to steal from it, to take what Libra had researched and get it without cost. And if they were able to see through the cameras down here...well, that would make sense, wouldn't it? Maybe last night was just the feeling of a hacker getting through Libra's computer systems and spying on the house.
If that was the case...
Well, better firewalls would be needed, but it would be a hell of a lot better for him and the others if that was all the problems that they had to deal with. One little issue with a hacker, something that could be patched and fixed, was a hell of a lot better than being spied on by their host or something worse.
Finally, Libra nodded, stepping away from the other console and smiling.
"There. That should patch it."
"There was something -"
"There was a weak point. It's plugged now, just in case someone tries anything."
"But...was someone watching?"
"Not when I went to look, but they might have, earlier. They won't anymore."
Blake didn't know how Libra could be that sure. Ptolemy had questions, and Cancer had concerns, but Ryder, Toy, and Aries wanted to get back to what they had been doing. Truth be told, Blake wanted the same. The four of them outvoted the other two, and when Libra stepped back into their arms, they didn't fight it, holding him in return and nuzzling into his embrace.
"Now...come with me..."
They crossed the lab together, eventually ending up under a strange little dispenser. It was hooked up to the bubbling liquid across the lab, something that was rolling away inside of its glass container. They stood under it, looking up for a moment before yelping as Libra stuck his furred fingers into their waistband.
"Wha-"
"It's part of the experiment. You'll need to be completely naked this time," the rabbit hybrid said.
"C-completely?"
"Yes...is that a problem?"
"N-no..."
No, just...embarrassing. He slowly reached for his underwear himself, dragging them down with an increasingly red face. Not even Ptolemy's stoicism could completely cancel that out. As they stepped out of their briefs, putting them to the side, the six of them tried not to feel too embarrassed at the fact that they were naked. They weren't the best of humans, not the most endowed, not...anything, really, but there was no laughter, at least. That was something.
Libra patted their shoulder, moving over to the dispenser lever. He glanced back at them, nodding.
"This won't take long. I've set this to a fox shape for your first time. It shouldn't take long to do a full covering, and - well, this is still experimental, so it'll come off in a few hours. But during those few hours, you'll have a body very different from this one. Any requests?"
"...Can you, um...make sure to include the..."
"The other, feminine bits?"
He blushed, but nodded.
"Of course."
It would be the first time that they had everything down there that they wanted, and it gave them a strange feeling of...satisfaction. Some bits and pieces here and there where some of them wanted to focus more on the male bits at the front, but that was secondary. They were more focused entirely on the feeling of being changed, and how soon they would be feeling that.
Blake gave the nod that they were ready, and Libra pulled the lever. The sloppy, squelching, glorping sound of the liquid coming through filled their ears, and then, it fell onto their head.
Blake gasped, huffing through clenched teeth as he felt the warm ooze running through his hair and then down along the back of his neck. The sensation was so weird, and it was soon spreading further still, smooth and tight against his body.
"Ah...ah..."
"It's alright. Just keep breathing. It's going to temporarily fuse with you, so don't worry about air holes."
They hadn't even thought about that, and were more grateful than ever that they were just part of the experiment rather than part of the planning process. This was insane. Their hair was already pulled flat against the top of their head, making them feel almost bald, and further down, they could feel their skin getting pulled tight. The latex slid down, hardened, squeezed, becoming not just a suit, but a part of their body.
It was amazing. Flat-out, it was amazing.
They were gasping for breath the longer that it went on, shaking from head to toe as the black ooze ran along their spine, spreading out from there, creeping along their body like a rising tide. It would cover them, cool slightly, and then harden, only for the next part to spread. Yet, wherever they touched it, it didn't feel like the hard shell that it seemed to be. It felt like skin. Giving, rubbery skin, but skin, nonetheless.
Soon, it had run all the way down to their waist, and it had spread down in circles around their eyes. Their ears were plugged, but only for a second, and then -
"Ah...mmmph!"
The feeling of their ears being pulled up and back, becoming pointed, then longer, then slowly rising along the sides of their head, defied all biology. It was more than just a little tweak, more than just the magic of illusion. This was a real binding, a real change. Their ears were pulled flat against their head, the shape of them pulled up like real fox ears, and at their mouth -
"Mmmph!"
It wasn't quite a gag, but it was a covering for their lips, one that spread forward and further from their face, soon pointing forward in a proper muzzle. The lips formed, spread across the edge of the shape, and they were able to open it. The latex ran over their lips, coating the roof of their mouth and their teeth. Blake shoved a hand in, feeling the difference, the way that even his teeth had become rubber, soft and giving rather than sharp, hard fangs.
It was spreading down from his spine, over his butt and along his shaft. He could feel it twisting slightly, flesh turned to latex and then gathered together, almost like a sheath. That, combined with the feeling of the ooze sliding down along his rump and between the cheeks, the sensation of the tail that was slowly growing out, and the slight pull to drag him up on his tiptoes as the latex pulled at his muscles through his legs, all told him that this was real. For the next few hours, at least, he was going to be almost like a rubber fox.
As it spread between his legs, just behind his sac, he felt another hole, something opening in the latex, becoming a tunnel that led to -
"AH!"
Another gasping moment, but this one was more worth it. It led the tunnel between his legs back to his ass, sliding in for now. So the latex could not fully transform him, but it could give him the feeling of being teased down there. His eyes rolled back in their sockets for a moment as the ooze ran all the way down to his feet, fattening his toes, and soon, leaving him wobbling in his new latex shell.
The rest of the headmates were quiet, letting him take in the moment. It was, to put it mildly, intense, and his cock was hard as it had ever been. Harder, still, in some ways, particularly with a few foxy attributes down there. Blake didn't reach down, didn't touch it yet, but instead looked up at the rabbit hybrid. Libra smiled back at him, shirt already off, and his hands resting on his belt.
"You look good," Libra said.
"I...I still can't believe it."
"You will."
"Mmmph...I can't...this is so amazing..."
"I'm this close to fulfilling my promise, too. If I can make a body like this on top of someone at the drop of a hat..."
"Come on. Even you can't make a suit that'll actually change someone."
"You'd be surprised," Libra said, shaking his head. "But...enough talk about that. Come here."
He had no hesitation there. They walked across the short distance between them and the rabbit, and they all but fell into his arms. One arm. The other was down low, rubbing their new shaft, teasing it, keeping it hard and throbbing. Not that it needed much help after that transformation.
They gasped for breath, hips hunching, and little by little, Libra's other hand reached down and squeezed their ass. They groaned, huffing against his chest, their thoughts racing a hundred miles an hour. Even the calmest of them wasn't entirely present, barely able to think through everything that was happening. Ptolemy suggested slowing down, but none of them had any plans on doing anything of the sort.
With a shaking hand, they reached for Libra's belt, pulling at it until the rabbit's pants fell to the ground. They were able to find his cock, giving it a few strokes the way that he was doing to them.
"Please..."
"Bedroom?" Libra asked.
"I don't know...I don't know if I can wait that long."
"Heh, try..."
The rabbit showed off a bit, picking him up. Blake submitted to the slight indignity, allowing himself to be carried, even as he blushed from the embarrassment of being manhandled like that. Still, he kept a smile on his face as he was carried towards the stairs, then up them, his head tilted back as he breathed out slowly.
This is going to be amazing...
The End
